RISE. RECLAIM. RADIATE.
Welcome back to She Shines with Coach KG. Yours truly, Karen Coach KG Gilliam, right here. And this is a platform where women learn how to rise, how to reclaim, and how to radiate. No more dimming your light. This is your time to shine. So we say here at She Shines with Coach KG, keep shining. Now let me set the tone for you today. Today's episode is softness. There's also a little depth and embodiment. This is a conversation about returning to yourself. So our guest today is a dear friend of mine. That dear friend also became a client, so I have coached her. And now she is embodying her true essence. And you're going to meet her right now. Please welcome to our platform. Kendra Elise. Hello. Hello. Hello. So excited to have you here, Kendra. And you know, I'm transparent. As a matter of fact, I did a Facebook live when um our your our last recording, we had technical difficulties. And I I'm just real. Yeah. Kendra just told me her number is three, because this is our third time. And you also heard third uh three third time's a charm. So we're excited, you know, and she was the one that said to me when I was, you know, like disappointed, and she said, I guess we have to re-record because things happen for a reason. That's right. So we are back here again, and I promise you, you are going to be in for a treat. So, Kendra, I didn't introduce you. I want you to introduce yourself. How do you describe yourself in your own words?
SPEAKER_02Oh man, I'm a whole bunch of things. I would say um I'm multidimensional, I'm whimsical, I'm all the things that can be in one. Um yeah, I mean, there is I'm very creative. So anything that my soul feels called to, I'm flying to it. So I would just say, um, explain who I am. Very intuitive. Everything for me is spiritual before it becomes physical. And um, yeah, that's that's how you sign me up. Um, movement is like everything to me. So I love to dance. I feel like movement brings you into a space of like your truth. And um yeah, I'm always just moving with the rhythm, rhythm of who I am, despite of what's going on outside of me. So yeah, tuning into my own rhythm, multidimensional.
SPEAKER_03Yes, definitely, definitely. And her journey evolved um from 19 years in the beauty culture uh arena into now this creative spiritual space. As a matter of fact, Kendra is my hairdresser. So, um, and let me just tell you, she does wonders with me. So, but let's let's follow up, Kendra. What did you have to release to step into your artistry?
SPEAKER_02Honestly, because I am on that journey now, because life is definitely a marathon, I feel like the different avenues that I, you know, took is what has created the artist in me, but me in a more confident way.
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02I started off with since I came out the womb, I have been very, you know, into fashion, into beauty. Also, my family, they have my grandfather years ago started a salon. Um, and in the northwest, because I live in Vancouver, Washington, that's a little bit from Portland, but three hours from Seattle. If you don't know what it is, I'm in Washington State. And uh he was the only black barbershop for so not DC. Yeah, not DC and not Vancouver, Canada. Everybody says that. Um that's right, that's right. Yeah, so um he was one of the first black barbershops in the Northwest. And so they called him the hippie barbershop because not only did he do black people, he did all people. It was very multicultural. So I grew up seeing that. My mom was a hairstylist, and you know, I grew up, I grew up in the life of entrepreneurship. When I was young, my one of my first things was I was rallying the kids and I was having Kool-Aid stands, right? Um, I learned how to make jewelry because my uh great-grandfather on my father's side, his mother's father was a master jeweler. And yeah, my aunt, she is a jewelry designer and um, well, fashion designer, but she started with jewelry and she even gave me his pliers. And so at the age of, I believe, 10, I was making jewelry, selling it in my family salon. So I've always had this entrepreneurial like spirit within me. And um I ended up going to beauty school while I was in high school, and uh because I always knew that I the typical school was just not my thing. So I always knew that creativity was what I wanted to be in. Um, I will say hair came about because that's what I knew, and I was still too afraid to use my voice, where now I'm in the space of being visible and using my voice um with like storytelling and action. And so I got into this line of hair because my dream was at the time get my hair license while I'm in school in uh California to go to FID and profession, I would be doing hair. And I was like, it would also get me in the industry and you know, I could be behind the scenes with all of that stuff. Well, that was a whole turnaround. Um I ended up getting pregnant, having my son, and so I ended up staying closer to home. I attempted to go to fashion school, but it just wasn't aligned. And I'm just learning like a lot of the times we will keep trying to force something that is just not an alignment. And the spirit supreme, God, however you connect, will always make you go left when you want to go right to get you back straight. And so I kept attempting to get myself in something that wasn't fully aligned, or I wasn't fully ready actually yet. And um, with the role of motherhood and then being in my family salon and learning from those standpoints, um, it allowed me to build my voice, build my creativity, also being able to be in tune with people. I feel like being in the industry that I'm in, well, have been in, uh, it has allowed me to learn verbal and nonverbal communication with people. Uh, it also was able to prime one of my natural talents of connectedness and with people and learning them, still with the art of using hair as building confidence. But like all my clients say, I don't just do hair, it's like a whole session, it's like a whole spiritual thing that happens. It is also right. When you also learn about the hair and the the cosmology behind it as in it as a black person, as African descent, or just indigenously, but especially because I am black, that's all I can speak about and having my African roots. It is such a spiritual thing. Our hair is our antenna, our hair is what is connected to source, connected to you know, the supreme power. It is our wisdom, it is where we um create from. And so it it is, I could go on all day. Um, yeah, I would say hair allowed me a space to grow and expand. I had a lot of ups and downs with it, but ultimately I will say it taught me how to stand in my truth, um, be able to not only connect to people and help them build confidence, but build confidence within first. We can always, I always tell people it's easier to mask the outside than it is the inside. But guess what? If your inside is chaotic, your outside is gonna eventually crumble and show what that really is gonna be. So even for me, I had to do that, you know. Um, so yeah, hair has just been an avenue that has that has allowed me to travel, to be in different spaces on like entertainment platforms, and um allow me to just see the world in such a different view.
SPEAKER_03I will say that. And see, I love I love the word alignment. Um, I love the word clarity, and what you just described is what I say, all things work together for the good. Because when you said you go left, and then you know, God brings you right, and eventually you come back to what was to be. Yeah. So I love that. So thanks for sharing that. Well, she mentioned that she is a mother, yes, and she was initiated into motherhood, and uh Kendra even told me motherhood was a rite of passage. Yes, tell us what that unlocked in you.
SPEAKER_02Oh, good Lord. Um, yes, motherhood has been a rite of the passage, and I have learned that as long as you're still living and breathing, you will always be a mama, no matter what. Of course, it's gonna look different as your child your children maturate and go into their own space. But right now I'm in the precipice of I have one that is getting ready to finish high school, and then I have one that is getting ready to go into middle school. And so my oldest, it was my first initiation, and he was definitely initiation in a way that may have been unorthodox for some, but I mean, I'm not the first or the last. I had him um before I was married and all the things. So, you know, that really put a tarnish on, you know, family ways and how they believe and all these things. But what I realized is as I went deeper into my own spiritual work, is that it was about um clearing generational curses, okay? And um being my son, that has been the initiation. Not only am I the eldest daughter from my mother and my father, and my son is my eldest, but my father is the eldest of his mother, who was ended up being a single mother. And so when you start to break down the epigenetics and all the things within the generation, and then you go in deeper on both sides of your family, you start to realize what they say generational curses are, right? And so when you become the pattern breaker, and when it is something that is a mandate over your life that you don't even fully are not conscious of, and you start to see the patterns, right, then you get to choose how are we gonna rewrite this? So my son was a part of my initiation of me waking up as a woman, uh, me waking up as no longer being ashamed of motherhood, regardless if it was in the right way or whatever the way that those may have been groomed to, um, because life is meant to be here. So his and him coming into my life was definitely um it was my first knock at awakening, right? And it also was my first cracking open of seeing shadow pieces of myself where I was bringing shame in, where I was carrying things of my ancestors and those before me that I didn't know that I was carrying. Also, my crack into what we as women carry silently, and as black women, what we carry um generationally, and me being able to no longer to honor thyself and be able to rewrite the the pathway, right? Honor those who were before me, but also be like, we're no longer gonna operate in this way, and our voice matters and our our desires, our autonomy matters. You still can be a mother, but still live a life. But you also can rewrite some of those isms that may have been taught to you. Um, and just because they've been taught to you, it's not that you're disrespecting anybody, but if it if it does not align or resonate, there's no need to carry it on, right? And then give your children and the generations after that that space to expand and not to dim your light. And so that was with myself. Absolutely. My daughter, I was very afraid to have her because my daughter, she was the one. Um, like I always say, the good thing Jordan came first, because Jordan and also I was very intentional on her children's name. Uh, they're seven years apart. Uh Jordan's name means flow and great descendant, right? So we did all of that. Um, and then there's Sky. But her name is Sky, and her middle name is Imani. And when I say this girl is a firecracker, yeah, she I was so nervous to have her because I was like, girl, if you have a girl, actually, and what is wild is when you um are spiritually aligned and you understand that you are the physical manifestation of God here in this earth as a woman, like God shows you, supreme power shows you who is coming in you, right? I knew my son was a son when he came, and I knew my daughter was a daughter. And when my daughter came, I was nervous because I knew I had to step up my gang as a woman. Because when I tell you, you were the example. Man, when I tell you she calls me out now, and I be like looking at her, and then I have to go into the okay, what did I learn in therapy? How are we gonna communicate this? Yeah, she calls me out, and I I'm so grateful for both of my children because they are they are showing me how to balance the divine feminine and masculine within myself, but how to be do it in such a way that's unapologetic and not fearful, but also to check myself when I'm teaching them, am I buying these things? But then also how do you extend grace, right? On the things that you didn't know or the things that you had a capacity for. So yeah, motherhood is definitely initiation, and I'm still on the marathon.
SPEAKER_03She's still on the marathon. Oh my goodness. Yes. Those of you that are mothers out there, you would totally agree that yes, they may be grown and gone, but your job is never done. It's never done. Well, I know that the next segment we're gonna talk about is when you realize about the mask and then the mirror and then the moment. So this is a little bit about when you realized that you were wearing a mask. What did that look like?
SPEAKER_02So I would say it was about two weeks ago when I was like washing my face, and I do a lot of um internal work um because I make it my business. So that's a lot of reflection within myself. On top of me, I've been in therapy before and taken and have done it in different times of my life, and then um I still apply things even when I'm not in therapy to my life, and I also do somatic work. So somatics is all about like your body and being able to um move through things and uh, you know, your body holds so many different stories and so many different um messages. And so when I was actually to learning how to, I've been learning how to take care of myself, really. And that didn't happen until I got in my car accident last year. And that story, I'll have to really get into it, but I will tell you that it has to do with the number seven. My kids are seven years apart. My accident that I had last year was seven years before the, it was seven years after the um accident that I had with my sister and my daughter in the car. And then before that, I had an accident with my sister, seven years within that. I had an accident with my sister and my son in the car, right? And so those first of those two times, they were like, you know, people were in the car with me. So that always, that always meant like I was when you get into accidents, it is known, or as they are they express it out in a spiritual way, it's like an awakening for you. And that means you and the people that you're in the accident with, there is like something that happens and you go through certain things. And so it me and my sister are very close. And uh she was with me with my son, and then she was with me with my daughter. And so during those times in my life and those circle cycles in my life, I could see where I was also being the support of everyone in there, right? My children and then my sister or whatever capacity, and she was support for me. But then this time, after coming from Jamaica and having a beautiful time and having a spiritual experience, that accident happened, but I was by myself this time. And it is what threshold was the threshold of me going on this journey of really reclaiming, but then also peeling the masks off. So to fast forward, I was washing my face, and as I was in my introspective time, I was being shown that I've been wearing all these different masks for so long because of the wanting to belong to certain groups instead of wanting to belong to myself and knowing that that is enough. And so um it brought me to tears, but it was it was so refreshing and so healing to, as I'm taking the time to wash my face, because we live in a society where everything's fast, fast, fast, and go, go, go, and not just too. An interrupt rhythm and actually take that time to take care of myself. That is a part of self-care. You know, when we can make our daily care a ritual for ourselves as just human beings, but especially as a woman, a divine feminine, yes, like you're showing yourself love. And as you show yourself love, because your body is your home as you live right now. This is your home until you ascend. Um, how are you taking care of that home? How are you taking in your home is your foundation? We have so many different levels. And so it was teaching me like you are finally allowing yourself the space to really wash off everything that you've been carrying that's really not yours to carry, or the ways you've tried to fit in somewhere that is really not you. And so from there, you know, you allow yourself to cry or do what it is that your body's asking. Because I asked myself, well, what do you need right now? And all I heard was, I just need space, I need space to just feel, I need space to just be, and I'm not trying to ask you to fix it, I just want you to hear me. And so I allowed that, and it was a space of vulnerability that was being asked.
SPEAKER_03I love that, I love that, and I know for our listeners out there that whether you call it a mask, whether you call it a label, we have a tendency to accept the labels or the mask, and it's not for you to carry, like uh Kendra said. So I want you to listen because I'm going to have Kendra explain a quote that when she said it, it just wow, it it was powerful. She said, pain is inevitable, but suffering is a choice. So let's talk about that, Kendra. Tell me about that quote.
SPEAKER_02So that quote, I heard that so I heard that different times, like when I was watching uh Lisa Nichols on YouTube, when I was watching other like um, I guess it's like self-help or whatever type of like genre. But when I really it was on a podcast, I was listening to it, and I was just sitting there like, wow, how do we really perpetuate our we we stay in this victim mentality? Uh there is a such thing as when you go through something, you feel the pain, right? And yes, you are the you are the victim to to the extent, right? And it's not dismissing what happened to you. But then after the initial, the initial impact, the initial thing, how long are you gonna continue in the same story in the cycle to where you now are in the space of suffering? Yes, where you're continuing this story, but then you as you say to yourself, you want to be this, you want to be over here, you want to do this, but you're still wallowing in the story that now is your suffering story rather than your victory story, and you are continuing to carry this bag, as Erica Badu says, bag lady, or this cross on your back, like you're gonna keep carrying that. Like, yes, again, we have to put it in context because there are some things that happen, they happen physically to us, right? Or mentally to us. But in a sense, I am learning that we are here to learn, to grow, to share, to teach at whatever capacity, and then to be on the other end of the cycle to be the student, right? Um teacher at the same time. And so there comes a point in your life where you have to realize your power and know that you write this script and the things that are feeling like they're happening to you, they're actually happening for you. And it's all about a mindset, yes, mindset shift. And we have to choose that mindset shift, and there will be times um that your ego, or I call it the inner me girl, that will try to like keep crawling at you and crawling at you, and you know, your mom is about being those isms, but then your like I wrote this poem that said your will has to be stronger than your circumstance, has to be greater than your circumstance. And when your will is greater than your circumstance, you allow that will within you to take over and to lead. So that is what meant to me, and I always apply it to myself because we all have those days where we start to go back into the victim mode, and then you'd be like, okay, so now I'm gonna recreate the story again in my life. How is this gonna help me be able to see what I had the opportunities in the actual the abundance that is in my life?
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know, and so and I'm and nothing against anybody right now, but I'm really learning about and how we speak. And so the reason why I refrain from the word um blessings, because when you break it down, it's be less. And I'm not I'm not doing that. I am on a oh my.
SPEAKER_03Oh my.
SPEAKER_04So we move as you got one move.
SPEAKER_02So and I can feel the energy when we we we want to elevate our because like you say before, the power of the tongue is everything. It speaks what life or death. Yes, it is, regardless of wherever you believe in at the end of the day. I do believe in that space right there. The power of the tongue is powerful. What you speak over your life is a spell. And so what are you spelling out into your life? That's what we have to be aware of. As women, we have to really understand because we are we ain't um, we're not understanding nothing because we're not under anything. It's internal. What are we understanding? So then we're able to orate it out into our field, out into the world, right? When we understand our power and understand what we come from and who we are, then we know that we speak these things in our life.
SPEAKER_03Yes, absolutely.
SPEAKER_02It's all about intention and contrast.
SPEAKER_03Yes, absolutely. And you know, one of my isms, another one, is nothing changes till you change your mind.
SPEAKER_02Right there.
SPEAKER_03Because you've got to change the mindset. One of the things that um I have I'm I'm a work in I'm a work in progress, okay? We all are, yes. I yes, and I say I've dropped every once in a while it comes up where I say, I think. And I said, wait a minute, hold up. If I'm thinking, I'm not quite convinced. But if I say I believe, yes. I believe. Now I think such and such and such. I believe.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_03Because when we're about to get into it about the brain and the the and how it works for us. So that that's one also, but I love that, Kendra. I love it. Well, you have been practicing and you shared it with me. Oh, yes, yes. The living script.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you know I'm about to pull it. You know I'm about to pull it up.
SPEAKER_03The living script and the brain connection is what we're gonna talk about right now. So if you don't have a piece of paper and something to write with, you want to, and then you want to stay to the end of the episode because I've got something for you that will get you off to where Kendra is, where I am, and so many others, because Kendra didn't tell me I couldn't tell anybody. So I've been telling everybody about this living script. So walk us through, Kendra, what you say, how you say it, and why consistency matters.
SPEAKER_02So there is um a part in our brain called the RS system. So it's the reticulating activating system. And it also is it, it is a part of your conscious and subconscious part of how you your brain is. And those two components, they don't know whether it's real or fake. So whatever you're intaking within, whether it's internally or what you're seeing outside, is just taking in data, right? So that is where I have learned about like manifestation, write it down, make it plain, do the thing, right? But sometimes when your nervous system isn't primed, and when I say the word priming, it is not at the baseline. It's like, you know, when you go and work out, you have a certain routine to first start your warm-up, so then you can start lifting weights to, you know, build your muscle. So when your nervous system is not primed for taking in information or taking in um positive reinforcements, it's gonna naturally like just spit it out or put it in the back because the thing that the energy and the um the words that are the strongest is what you're gonna take in if you've been used to it. And a lot of times our nervous systems are always running on survival mode. And a lot of times we're not aware that it's running in survival mode. So I've tried the manifestation by writing things down and saying it out loud, but like I said, that your critics, that mean girl would be like, yeah, right, that's not gonna happen, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So then you can just feel like, oh, I'm saying these things and I'm not feeling it. And if anybody knows about me, and especially you, Coach KG, you also taught me about my like top five like essential parts of myself, my essence, and one of it is connectedness, the other one's belief.
SPEAKER_06Yes.
SPEAKER_02And so I'm all about like feeling, always have been since I was since like since I was younger. I'm very intuitive. And so I was like, okay. And I also learned that I'm neurodivergent. And so I'm like, okay, I need to do, I need to do something that my body will so matically, as I've been building my capacity with my nervous system to come out of survival mode and to be in rest. How can I build this and like recite it and it feels real? So that's when the lift script came. And so it's just like scripting a day in your life, but this time I script it from the moment I wake up. Now, because of my accident, I had a concussion and it's been challenging for me to fully write it out. So I ended up verbalizing it on my phone and I use the at app chat GPT for it to script it out. I told I said everything and then it put it in a form for me where I'm able to read it. So I've done like three or four different versions because every day when we when we rise, because like I said, I don't say morning, I'm rising because I'm not mourning nothing.
SPEAKER_06Yes.
SPEAKER_02So as I rise, and don't get me wrong, there's times I'll get caught back in the morning, and I'm like, no, no, no, no, we're not morning, we're rising. As I rise, read this script. And when I started it, and it's been three weeks now, I started it. And when I first did it, you know, my body was just like, mm-hmm. And then I was like, it's okay, it's okay. We're gonna, it's gonna be all right. So then I started doing it every day, every night. Then I even started doing it looking in the mirror. But I would whisper it because I learned that when you say it lightly and whisper it, your subconscious mind is more apt to accept it than reject it. Because when you say it out loud, the conscious mind right now that is loud with you will be like, no, it's not. And it's almost like abort, abort, abort. So I just start whispering it in the mirror because when you can look at yourself in the mirror and talk to yourself in the mirror and put those beautiful like um words within you silently, guess what? Your brain is recording that. So my script started like this. I wake up in the morning, rested. The sun is already touching the room. Now, y'all know I live in the Northwest, so sometimes the sun for me is just light, just so y'all know. Um, it's around 7:30, maybe 8. My body feels light. So that was the first living script. But then I started realizing okay, we need to do it in a way where it's like it's already happened. So my body will really feel. So the next time was I wake up in the morning, the sun is already touching the room, it's around 7:30 and maybe 8. My body feels light. I stretch into movement, yoga Pilates. Sometimes I run if I feel like it. Movement is how I greet the day. Then I go into tea is steeping nearby, fresh fruit and nourishing foods are on the table. I eat clean, high-protein meals that support my body. Grass-fed, vibrant fruits grown close to the earth, vegetables, fruit, and water. That is pure and alive. My body is strong, my waist is slim. I feel vibrant and healthy because I was going with all the components of my life, right? Then I move into the place where I live is sunny. I have access to ocean and beach. Because if anybody knows me, I am a Pisces and I love water. So the ocean is like my life. And remember, I'm writing all these things because this is the life I am experiencing because it's just your the life you desire to experience is just right over where you're at. You, we we are creators, and so we have to allow ourselves to dream and allow ourselves to to be able to move effortlessly with action, intentional action to it. So I even went in and talked about my children are thriving, um, they explore activities. I talk about my spoken word um podcast that I have, the storytelling. I'm just building my life out. I'm talking about how I'm going around the world, you know, reaching millions of people. I go in to talk about how I want to give back and where I want to travel, how I am, I am on the S the cover of Essence magazine. Y'all, I've loved Essence.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she's talked about that many times.
SPEAKER_02That is where I put in there. So, anyways, I just scripted out everything. And at the end of it, I said, my body is healthy, my mind is peaceful, my spirit is joyful. I even spoke about money, how my debt is paid, don't have no debt. I am abundant, abundant resources. I am also financially literate, I have access to this, and so you just go into this with intention. As I continue to go in with intention, I started noticing that I was already starting to do the things that I was already writing. Like I was waking up at this time, my body, I was moving my body, I was doing small dances, like and recording them, putting them on TikTok and sharing them, you know, being visible. And I was just doing all of these things and I started recognizing, like, oh my gosh, like you're starting to already do these things. And so that's why I encourage people to do the living script. Like it's it's just an invitation. Remember, none of this stuff is a mandate, it's just an invitation. But when you know the power of your words and you know that you speak life into your life, then you have I, you don't have to do anything, but it's an opportunity for you to change. Change, you know, change is the only thing that is constant in this world and on our in our experience in this life, so you have the power to change the way you experience your life.
SPEAKER_03And that's my living script. Uh that that's that is the living script. Uh Kendra is three weeks. I think I'm two. And because she shared it with me, and I am so, I am so clear about my life. Yeah. And I am so intentional because it that's all part of my living script. And the retricular activating system, I I'm gonna share an example that to help you recognize it if you think, what? I don't really understand that. Yeah. Let me show you how it works and you don't even know it's working. Let's say you decided to that you wanted to buy a new car, and you start to go online and researching the car you want, the color, the all the added features that you want in this car, the price, everything. The next time you go out in your current car on the highway, all of a sudden, the car you were researching appears. I promise you, that will happen. Yeah, it does. And it's the retricular activating system at work because it's trying to make real that which you said. It is it is that is it. You're right, Sam.
SPEAKER_02You're right, because I will say to you, like, I've been putting out there for a long time a Porsche SUV, a mini one. Right. I just want a little cute Porsche SUV. Do you know I see those four, five, six, seven times a day? Like, I'm like, oh, I'm like, it's coming, it's coming, I feel you, I feel you, but it's also about your vibration, right? So when you when you are connecting your vibration and as you build your worthiness, you start to then on a scientifically level bring these things into your life. So first you have but reticular and it starts to show you. So it reminds you, look, remember you said that. So then the next thing for me is I'm gonna go to a dealership and I'm gonna get in that car and I'm gonna see what it feels like. And so then it just goes from over there. Like we are so people are, I mean, humanity is going to understand, but we are so powerful. Like we we came down here with this in the spirit, and the spirit is showing us how we operate down here. Like when you are made in the image, that is what it really is. You once again, embodiment. What is embodiment? You are living it, you are making those those strides of that. You're not just intellectualizing it, you are actually living it, you are applying it. That is what this life is about.
SPEAKER_03So that's right. That's right. And to just add to what Kendra is saying, this is Kendra and I all the time. We we have these conversations. Um, but you have been curated by the world. It started with your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins. Then you went to school. You had teachers and principals and counselors, then you went to work, so you had bosses, and all of those people curated you to be who you are, but many of us didn't feel comfortable in that space. Right. So that is because you have an essence, you have a spirit that God created you to be with gifts, talents, strengths that you're to operate from. But you have to discover those. You can either stay with the curated version of yourself, the avatar, yes, or. You live from the essence, the spirit that was created. Yes. With for you. Say that. For you to be. Yes. That is so true.
SPEAKER_04That is so true.
SPEAKER_02That doesn't mean that you're not going, doesn't mean that your experience is not going to have its valleys, right? But you'll learn as you realize who you are and that this life is a spiral. It's not linear. Um, there are things that our soul came to learn. And so that's why, based on our choices, and sometimes we inherit to them, we learn and then we move in after we've learned that lesson, we then are able to get back on our road to then be our biggest, great, brightest self. So it doesn't mean for those who are like, but look, I've been dealing with this all the time. A, it's your mindset, right? You got to rebuild your mindset. We all have to rebuild our mindset at different avenues and different trajectories of our life, the capacities we have, right? And then as we continue to grow and learn, we're going to go through the wave. But when you go down the dip, in the dip, as you continue to build within yourself, you understand that dip is not going to stay like it would before. So remember that. This life is all about learning and growing and expanding and being able to connect and just remember who you are and use your gifts and be confident in it and unapologetic in it.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely. And and stop looking for permission. Yep. There you go. Why do we need permission? No, yeah, no.
SPEAKER_02Free will. We are here to be free. We are free.
SPEAKER_03Yes, absolutely. We are free.
SPEAKER_02You gotta, you gotta unlike Bob Marley says, after going to Jamaica, it was amazing to be on the land with him on his land. And I always remember him saying on in this one song, um, emancipate your mind from mental slavery. And that kept that kept irriterating, like if that's the right word, when I was like laying in the bed questioning, because I was so disembodied after my car accident. And I was wondering, why am I here? You know what I mean? Like, what are we doing? Why am I here? And it was a part of me emancipating my mind from the mental slavery that I was still carrying. And I then realized in the last what six months, my accident will be a year in August, that there was the part of me that accident happened because it was the old part of me that needed to die away because I had upgraded, I had returned to a land where ancestrally my our people were there. And so you're connected spiritually. And and so when I realize that and every day, I'm like, how do you imagine how do I, what steps do I take to emancipate my mind from the mental slavery so that my I am free and I know that I'm free. There's a difference between, like she said, thinking, but then when you internally know, that's how you know you are connected to God's energy because you only move from that. There's a knowing, there's a surrender, and then there's a flow. So yeah.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely. I love it. I love it. Well, Kendra, you you know you are connected with this she shines connection. And so, what does she shines mean to you personally?
SPEAKER_04Personally, it is about not dimming your light.
SPEAKER_02Being able to, how can I say, be that lighthouse, but then it is the catalyst for all the other lighthouses to bright shine bright as well. Uh, that is what she shine represents for me. And as a woman, it's about loving who you are and remembering that even your story, no matter what part you are in your story, you are still you are a hero.
SPEAKER_04Yes. You are so that's what I mean. Yeah. Wow.
SPEAKER_03Well, you everybody, the listeners of She Shines knows that we come down to the part where we have a little fun, and then I know that Kendra is going to do something special for you. And um, after we do the fire round. So um I also personalize the fire round. Um so Kendra's is the backbone frequency. Kendra's resonance round. So she is is tailored to her intuitive, energetic, poetic essence. And so we're gonna just fire it off. You ready? I'm ready. Let's do this. All right. One word that describes your current frequency.
SPEAKER_04Um, I would say it's just flow.
SPEAKER_02It's flow. My word is flow.
SPEAKER_04Oh, all right.
SPEAKER_03A pattern you've recently broken.
SPEAKER_02Oh, literally saying no and meaning it. That's a pat uh because I usually will say yes and just not even I am literally am honoring that. I my no is really my yes. Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_03Not being so excited. Respect. Yes. Right. And they respect your no. Yes. A truth your body taught you before your mind understood.
SPEAKER_02Oh a truth that I don't have to. I would say my body has always told me that my discernment of when I'm not feeling something, that is my that's my first mind, and I need to follow that always and not second guess it.
SPEAKER_04My gut always is alright. Yeah, that's right there. Yep. Okay.
SPEAKER_03What does backbone feel like in your body? Backbone feels strong.
SPEAKER_02Uh, it feels just like an empress energy, like a royalty, like sensuality. It is the it is the fortitude and the foundation of the essence of being a woman and being proud to be a woman and loving it.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Oh my goodness. A boundary that changed your life.
SPEAKER_04Oh, a boundary.
SPEAKER_02Um, you know, one of the boundaries I would say that changed my life was when I decided that I was no longer going to just take in everybody's like emotions and stories of my like they were my own and feel like I had to dim my where I was at to have them feel comfortable.
SPEAKER_04There you go. There you go. She didn't ask for permission. No more asking for permission. Yeah. Mm-mm.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_04You don't have to dive into the show. All right, finish this sentence. Yes. Um, finish the sentence.
SPEAKER_03I shine when I dance.
SPEAKER_02I shine when I dance. Use my voice. I am on the beach. I yeah, that's that's when I shine. I'm using sound. I love sound. I shine when I'm eating food.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yep. Yes, she's a foodie. Yes. Oh my goodness. So now we're gonna come to the close, and I know you have something special. So, what tip tool or resource would you like to leave with our audience?
SPEAKER_02Connecting to your breath is what I want to leave with you because your breath is a part of your life force. And giving yourself even two minutes to just stop, place your hand on your heart if you can, or wherever your body's asking for, and just inhaling from your nose, exhaling from your mouth. And it helps you find clarity, and then it helps you know what's your next step, but it gives you that moment to know that you matter. So that's uh that's what I want to leave you with is having more and being more intentional about your breath. And um, with that, I'm going to follow up with sound. I'm gonna use my alchemy sound balls. And so as I am just tapping them, I invite you, because remember, this is just an invitation to just receive. And you can even simply say within yourself or outside, I receive as I tap these balls, because you know, sound is healing and it is we are all frequency, and sometimes it's not about us intellectually um innerstanding, it's about us being able to just feel. So I invite you, if you're in a safe space, to close your eyes if it feels safe, if not, just to gently take some deep breaths while I um tap on the balls.
SPEAKER_04As you are either breathing in or breathing out, allow yourself, if it feels comfortable, to imagine a golden light all around you. Allow that golden light to encapsulate you as you are breathing and remember this is your power. And when you are ready, may you arrive back in your space and know that you are amazing and you are enough. Oh thank you so much.
SPEAKER_03Amazing, yes, amazing she is. Ladies, this just this just wasn't a conversation, this was a recalibration. That's right, that's right. Kendra reminded us that you don't have to be perfect. No, you don't have to rush, no, you don't have to abandon yourself to be accepted. No, you simply have to return to your voice, to your rhythm, your truth.
SPEAKER_04That's right. Because here's the truth nothing changes until you change your mind.
SPEAKER_03And when you do, you don't evolve, you don't just evolve, you restore your backbone, you reclaim your essence, and you give yourself permission to shine. If this episode spoke to you, I want you to take it a a step further, okay? Don't just listen, activate. I've created a she shines living script template just for you. Something you can speak over your life every single day. It's an invitation, not a mandate. Because here's the truth your mind will look for evidence of what you say. So let's give it some powerful something powerful to find. You're gonna be able to download the living script originated by Kendra Elise with a she shines vibe. That's right. Well, stand in the mirror. That's what Kendra said. Stand in the mirror and speak your life into alignment. And watch. Watch what begins to shift. It's almost automatic. And you bit you'll be able to grab it in the show notes or inside the She-Shines community because this is your season to stop waiting and start becoming. Woo!
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_03I want to thank you, Kendra, from the bottom of this grateful, intentional heart. And I can't wait to share the testimonies from other women as they experience this because they are changing their mind. So thank you so much. Thank you so much.
SPEAKER_04You know, I love you. I love you too.
SPEAKER_03And you'll be able to connect with Kendra, and it all her information will be in the show notes. Reach out to her. So until next time, I am your host, Karen Coach KG Gilliam, with my dear friend, Kendra Elise.
