RISE. RECLAIM. RADIATE.
Well, hello there. Welcome back to She Shines. And I am so excited to have you. And I just actually recorded another podcast. I was on another podcast. And when I tell you things happen for a reason, they do. Because this podcast host had to cancel, I think, three times. And just things kept popping up that prevented us from recording our podcast. And today it happened. And it happened for a reason. Let me just give you a little bit of a hint, and as it develops, I will keep you posted. So there will be later this year, before the year is out, a woman's advance, not retreat. And you'll hear more about it later. The podcast host and I have a meeting coming up. And it will be in Arizona. Ah, I wonder who will be there. So, and uh yes, I'm Solo again today, uh, here on She Shines. And if this is your first time listening to our episode, welcome. We are so glad to have you. And also, who is this? Karen, Coach KG Gilliam. Well, I always need to remember that there could be people listening for the very first time. So let me tell you who I am. I am a transformational coach, an author, a speaker, and I am the host of She Shines with Coach KG. I have over 40 years of experience mentoring and empowering women. I help individuals gain clarity, embrace their authentic identity, and confidently step into their next chapter. I do that through strength-based coaching, personal development, and faith-centered encouragement. I inspire people to move from simply existing to intentionally thriving. Not just surviving, but thriving. So there you have it. That is me. And again, a welcome to all of you, first timers, or if you've been with us in what is very close to our first anniversary. Yes. So stay tuned for some exciting things. And yes, I will have guests back on, but you'll hear the story as I move forward. This is the continuation of the Becoming series. I entitled this one, She Releases, Letting Go to Move Forward. So, what if the thing that standing between you and your next chapter isn't what you need to do? What if it's what you need to release? Now, I'm not saying you won't do something, but maybe the first step is that you need to release some things. We spend so much time talking about goals, talking about dreams, and becoming, but we don't talk enough about letting go. And yet, every transformation requires it. Because listen to this, you cannot carry your future while dragging your past. So welcome to She Releases, the continuation of the Becoming series. Here at She Shines with Coach KG, we rise, we reclaim, and we radiate. I am Coach KG. And over the past several weeks we've walked through the becoming series, which at the moment I said was a trilogy. Well, the first part was a trilogy. She believes, she books, and she becomes. If you haven't listened to those three episodes, make sure you go back and listen to those and then continue on with us in this series. Today we are taking the next step. After she becomes, or maybe just a little before, she releases. Because becoming isn't just about adding new things to your life, it's about releasing what no longer belongs. So sometimes the next chapter that you are looking for isn't waiting for you to learn something new. No, it's waiting for you to let go of something. So let me share a personal reflection. Many of you know I'm preparing for my own next chapter. My lease is ending at the end of October. I'm preparing for my two city adventure. Now, let me tell you, it started as three. But it is now two city. So you see, I even released a city adventure because I have a strong pull in that one of these two cities that I am going to will be the home base for my next chapter. Arizona is booked, plans have been made, and while the excitement for this adventure is here, there is also release. Um what's the word I'm looking for? It may be you as well. One of the things that I'm releasing is familiarity, and I shared with you before that the word familiar, the last four letters, is liar. See, what's familiar can also be a lie to keep you where you are. So you have to release familiarity, you have to be willing and open to step into uncharted territory mentally, physically. So you have to release what is so familiar to you because that's the thing about familiarity. It lies to us that we're satisfied, that we're content. Another thing I'm releasing, and maybe you do, you need to release it too, is routine. You know, doing the same thing. Now, don't get me wrong, I know hosting this podcast, some other thing, the one-on-one coaching, group coaching, those things, even though they are a part of a routine, those things I'm designed to do. They're an alignment for in my of my assignment. So that is not the routine I'm talking about. I'm talking about the routine where day in, day out, you do the same thing and it's not getting you anywhere. You know, one of the things I had to let go in my routine was TV. Uh-huh. Now don't get me, I still watch TV. Like if I want a time to just unwind and get away, then I'll watch television. But to know every show that comes on every single day is routine and it's not getting you anywhere. And another thing that I'm releasing is certainty. Certainty. I do not need certainty to know that when I start this adventure, that I know everything that is going to happen. See, when you're uncertain, sometimes that's a good thing.
SPEAKER_01Because then you may come upon what you need to know for your next chapter.
SPEAKER_00One more thing that I'm releasing is the version of life that I've known. Yes, that's another form of familiarity. Even the version of myself that I've known. Now I'm not doing away with my strengths, my talents, my gifts. But there's some parts of me, yes, I'm releasing. And one is procrastination. You know that definition that I gave you? Suicide on the installment plan. Let me just tell you that releasing these things, what is it do I do to replace the release? Embrace. Embrace newness. Embrace never tried before. Embrace moving forward without seeing the whole staircase. See, I've discovered that every exciting new beginning, new chapter, asks us to say goodbye to something.
SPEAKER_01Not because it was bad, but because we've outgrown it.
SPEAKER_00So coaching moment here. The four things women often need to release. Are you ready for this? Number one, release old identities. Many of us are still introducing ourselves through old versions of ourselves. The woman who was hurt. The woman who was overlooked. The woman who failed. News flash. And only because you shared that.
SPEAKER_01Would anybody else know? Your past may explain you, but it doesn't define you.
SPEAKER_00Let me say that again. Your past may explain you, but it doesn't define you. So this is what I want you to do. I want you to ask yourself, who am I still pretending to be because it's familiar? It's a lie.
SPEAKER_01Who am I still pretending to be? Because it's familiar. Number two. Release.
SPEAKER_00Release permission seeking. I promise not to get on my soapbox. But many women spend years waiting. Waiting for approval, waiting for validation, waiting for someone else to confirm what God has already placed in your heart. At some point, you must stop asking everyone else what they think about your life. That's right. You don't need permission to become who you were created to be.
SPEAKER_01And I'm gonna leave it right there.
SPEAKER_00As I think you heard that. And if you really don't think you heard that, rewind it. I'm moving on to number three. Release limiting stories. Oh, as women, oh my goodness, we carry stories. I I do. I'm not gonna lie.
SPEAKER_01Here are some of the stories I hear. I've shared, but I've released.
SPEAKER_00I'm too old. I'm too late. I'm not qualified. I don't have enough money. People like me don't do things like that. Oh my goodness, can I tell you? Those stories have become invisible cages. Uh-huh. The truth is not that you can't. The truth is that you've repeated the story so many times you've started to believe it. The story must go.
SPEAKER_01It's time to rewrite that story.
SPEAKER_00And the fourth thing that I believe women need to release. Release what no longer aligns. You hear me say it over and over, in alignment with my assignment. But I can tell you of these four, this one is challenging, is the most challenging. Sometimes it's habits. Habits that no longer align with who you were created to be, who you are becoming. Sometimes it's environments.
SPEAKER_01Hint, hint. Do you need to move? Do you need to relocate?
SPEAKER_00Sometimes, oh my goodness. Coach KG, what are you saying? Sometimes it's relationships. And I'm gonna leave it right there. You know if you need to release a relationship. And then this is a lesson I have learned well. Sometimes it's expectations. The expectations are not aligned with who you were created to be and are becoming. Not everything that accompanies you to this point is meant to accompany you to the next growth requires discernment. Not everyone gets a front row seat to your becoming.
SPEAKER_01Ooh.
SPEAKER_00You know, one of the things that I just thought about and and sharing and talking with you. I want you to imagine with me you're preparing for a journey. Let's just say it's a backpack. Get a backpack. You you got a backpack. I'm sure you have one. And in that backpack, every hurt, every fear, every disappointment, every regret, every limiting belief, every unhealthy attachment, you put it in that backpack. And let me tell you, I see it just as clear as day. Eventually, with every, not some, but every of each one of those things I mention. Eventually, that backpack is going to become so heavy that moving forward is exhausting. The answer isn't becoming stronger. The answer is becoming lighter by letting go. Letting go of every hurt, fear, disappointment, resentment, regret, limiting beliefs, unhealthy attachments. It's time to lighten up. What would happen if you put some of those things down? What would happen if you stop caring what no longer serves you? I'm inviting you right now to write down some reflection questions and do it right after listening to this episode. Unless you're driving, and of course you want to be safe. So, but do it as soon as possible. What am I carrying that I no longer need? You know, in preparation for my adventure, I have decided to minimize some of the things that I've been carrying around for years and years and years and no longer serving me right now. So what am I carrying that I no longer need? That's the first question. Second question: What story am I ready to release? What story am I ready to release?
SPEAKER_01Who am I beyond my pain?
SPEAKER_00I'm not insensitive. I'm very empathetic. That you are dealing with things. That you have some pain, some heartache.
SPEAKER_01I have But who are you Beyond that pain? What would become possible if I let this go? What would become possible if I let this go?
SPEAKER_00And the last question, what version of me is waiting on the other side of release? What version of me is waiting on the other side of release?
SPEAKER_01Let me share with you.
SPEAKER_00You know, I'm transparent with you. You are going on this journey with me. And here's what I've learned up to this point. Release is not loss. Release is preparation. When a tree loses its leaves, it isn't dying, it's preparing for the next season. Perhaps what feels like loss is actually preparation.
SPEAKER_01And what feels like an ending is actually space being made for a new beginning, a new chapter. So the becoming series is continuing.
SPEAKER_00Let me tell you, and hopefully I won't add to it anymore, but here you've you've had she believes, that was about clarity. You had she books, and that is the action plan. You had she becomes. Those were the first three. So if this is the first time you're listening to She Shines with Coach KG, go back and listen to episodes one through three. So this one she releases is healing. The next episode will be She Chooses Boundaries.
SPEAKER_01She moves accountability.
SPEAKER_00She arrives, alignment. And I believe the last one will be She Shines Purpose.
SPEAKER_01So we have four more episodes.
SPEAKER_00If you find yourself standing in a season of transition, you know, it's amazing to me how we feel uncomfortable, we feel like things aren't right, and yet we allow our avatar to stay in it. But what it is, the essence of you is screaming out. So if you're standing in a season of transition, if you know you're ready for your next chapter, but you're carrying things that are weighing you down, I would love to help. My coaching work is designed to help women gain clarity, align with their strengths, and move forward with confidence, all from their essence, not their avatar.
SPEAKER_01You don't have to navigate your becoming alone. That's why I'm here.
SPEAKER_00So let me bring this to a close by sharing this with you. You don't have to carry everything you've survived. You don't have to drag old stories into new seasons. You don't have to keep proving something that's already true.
SPEAKER_01Sometimes growth isn't about doing more. Sometimes growth is about releasing more. Until next time, keep shining.
SPEAKER_00Don't forget, we rise, we reclaim, and we radiate. Take care.
SPEAKER_02Will you derive or let your spirit break free? You got power inside you, more than you can see. Time to realign, reclaim what's left to be.
