Approximately one in a million Americans will ever compete in the Olympic Games.

Dawn Ellerbe didn’t just reach that extraordinary level—she helped change the future of her sport.

In this episode of Unstoppable Podcast, Lori Lewis sits down with Olympian, 16-time national champion, and multi-time Hall of Fame inductee Dawn Ellerbe to discuss her remarkable journey from a young athlete with big dreams to competing on the world stage at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Although the hammer throw had been an Olympic event for men for more than a century, women were not given the opportunity to compete until 2000. Dawn was among the trailblazers who helped open that door for generations of female athletes to follow.

Together, Lori and Dawn explore the dedication required to compete at the highest level, the challenges of building a sport that didn’t yet exist for women, and the lessons Dawn learned about perseverance, leadership, and creating opportunities for others.

This inspiring conversation is a reminder that history is often made by those willing to step into spaces where no path has been created yet.

Because somewhere, a young girl is watching and realizing she can, too.
