In this inaugural episode, Maxwell learns that survival in post-purge Milwaukee means balancing two impossible choices: feed too little and risk the Beast taking over, or feed too often and risk getting caught. When a routine hunt goes sideways and a protective instinct leads to gunfire outside a strip club, Maxwell discovers that being a "good" vampire in a world without Kindred might be the loneliest—and deadliest—job in the city.
