Hi and welcome to the Battle Drill Daily Devotional. I'm Rob Westwood-Payne, and I'm here to help you start your day spiritually strong with a quick, powerful devotional from God's Word. Don't forget to visit battledrilldevotional.com for more daily devotionals and resources. Now let's jump in. Hello and welcome. Today we're thinking about one of the hardest and most freeing questions that you can face. What happens when you start facing the truth about yourself? Have you ever noticed how easy it is to hide the cracks? We keep busy. We make jokes. We tell people that we're fine. Sometimes we even use church talk to cover the broken places in our lives. But if you're asking why you feel stuck in life, one of the key steps is this. You need to start facing the truth about yourself. Until you do, you carry the heavy weight of pretending. The Bible is clear about where freedom begins, James writes, and he gives grace generously. As the scriptures say, God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. James chapter four, verse six. God's grace doesn't flow through pride. It doesn't come to those who insist that they find. It comes to those who are willing to say, I'm broken. I've made wrong choices. I cannot heal myself. Pride tells us to keep control. Pride whispers that weakness will make us worthless. But pride also keeps us trapped. Humility, by contrast, opens the door to God's grace. I've had to learn this myself. Of course, there have been times when I resisted admitting my failure because I thought it would make me look weak. But I found strength. The day that I chose honesty, I remember, for example, the season when I carried anger for far too long. It seeped into my words and my thoughts. It weighed down my spirit. The breakthrough didn't come from pushing harder or hiding deeper. It came when I confessed it to God, and when I had the courage to share it with a trusted friend. That step of humility cleared the ground for healing. And that's the truth about humility. It feels like a loss at first. It stings to admit that we've messed up. But it isn't defeat. It's the doorway to real change. And what happens when you walk through that door? God meets you with love, not with judgment. His grace covers your past. His spirit begins to heal your wounds. His strength enables new choices. You don't stay broken. You grow whole. That's why facing the truth about yourself isn't the end. It's the beginning of freedom. So let me ask you. Where do you need to start today? What truth about yourself? If you've been hiding or avoiding. Don't be afraid of it. Don't push it away. The truth is the place where God's mercy shines brightest. So bring him your mess. Confess your sin. Tell him where it hurts. Humility may sting for a moment, but grace heals for a lifetime. Today's thought starter question is this what truth about yourself do you need to face today? And how will you open that place to God's grace? Let's pray. Lord, I come with my honesty. I confess my sin and my brokenness. I lay down my pride. Give me your grace instead. Heal me. Change me. Lead me in your truth. In Jesus name. Amen. See you again soon.
