Rick "RJ" Jullienne and Dale "The Coach" Eggleton interview Central Coast boxing legend Peter Batty in Episode 16 of The Victory Wrap Podcast Series.
Peter AKA "Cracker Butcher" entertains us with stories of his illustrious boxing career throughout the 70s and 80s.
Peter commenced his career as an 8-year-old attending the Lithgow Police Boys Club, learning not only his boxing skills there, but many life skills as well.
Peter took out the Australian Amateur Light Welterweight Championship in 1971.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Sharon and left Lithgow for the Central Coast and swapped boxing for a butcher shop in Umina until the fire burned again in his belly to be back in the ring and it was at this time he decided to turn professional, winning his first 13 fights earning the respect of sportspeople all over the Central Coast and how the nickname "Cracker Butcher" became his calling card.
In 1982 he defeated Billy Mulholland taking out Australian Junior Welterweight Professional Boxing Title.
He had a total of 32 fights, 19 wins (9 by KO) 4 draws and 9 losses, an amazing record!
