Watershed zones are specific regions of the colon where the arterial supply from two different major vascular territories (the Superior Mesenteric Artery and the Inferior Mesenteric Artery) meets. These areas are at high risk for ischemia because the collateral circulation intended to bridge these territories is often anatomically weak or absent.
