YOU WOOD THINK?
Two friends Shooting the Breeze - Save the Thinking for Your Day Job Boys
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Ever find yourself gripping the steering wheel in frustration as someone tries to merge directly into your lane without yielding? You're not alone. In this episode, we dive into the maddening world of highway driving etiquette and the seemingly lost art of understanding what a yield sign actually means.
We share stories of entitled drivers who expect everyone else to accommodate their unsafe merging habits, including one particularly jaw-dropping tale of a driver who deliberately caused a collision simply because they believed their turn signal gave them automatic right-of-way. The conversation turns to winter driving anxiety and the false confidence some drivers have in their all-weather tires when road conditions deteriorate.
The discussion shifts to celebrating Canada's women's rugby team and their impressive showing at the Rugby World Cup. Despite falling to England's dominant squad (boasting a 33-game winning streak), the Canadian women—who remarkably had to crowdfund just to participate—proved themselves world-class competitors. We explore the fascinating pattern of Canadian women's sports teams consistently outperforming their male counterparts on the international stage.
Basketball fans will appreciate our NBA updates, from Zion Williamson's dramatic physical transformation to Kawhi Leonard's potential disciplinary situation and injury concerns for veteran players like Kyle Lowry. We also reminisce about our own basketball training experiences growing up, marveling at how sports science has evolved and how today's young athletes are developing muscle definition that would have been unusual in previous generations.
Whether you're a sports enthusiast or simply someone who's tired of bad drivers, this episode offers plenty of laughs, insights, and perhaps a bit of validation that you're not the only one frustrated by those who can't seem to understand that yield means yield!
You Wood Think? Bobby and Mikey D
No Thinking in This Episode
SPEAKER_00Wow. I got a case of the stupids. Well, it would probably resonate with more people.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. What we like to do. No, no thinking.
SPEAKER_00There's no thinking in this episode. No. Which is like the other 30 as well.
SPEAKER_01Save the thinking for the day jobs. Hey everybody, welcome back. You would think Mikey D.
SPEAKER_00I don't want to think today. Bobby D.
SPEAKER_01Fair enough. Not what we like to do. No, no thinking.
SPEAKER_00There's no thinking in this episode. No. Which is like the other 30 as well.
SPEAKER_01Save the thinking for the day jobs.
unknownRight?
SPEAKER_00Speak for yourself. Fair enough. Your job needs thinking. Yeah. I do not. All right. Okay, so I just heard on the on the radio. Well, I mean, you know, you have to think sort of. Well, you know who's not thinking? Fuck this. Here we go. Drivers. Okay. Coming in here. Okay. I'm gonna I'll set it up. We just told Mike we were doing the old head, the old Hot Wheels out. Right? So I'm on the highway. Yeah. When you come onto the highway, those signs say.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yield or merge. Yield or merge. Yield.
SPEAKER_00Yield. It's a triangle. Red, white, says yield, right?
SPEAKER_01Did you just do a triangle or a square?
SPEAKER_00What did I just do? Triangle, upside down triangle.
SPEAKER_01All right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So I'm coming. Triangle. Triangle.
SPEAKER_01Fair enough.
SPEAKER_00I'm cerebrally challenged today. I don't know what's happening. Yes. So I'm on the highway. This nice, it doesn't matter what kind of person it is. I don't care. Sure. Okay. But the point is the car's coming and they're still coming and they're trying to come in front of me. I'm on the highway. And then they're mad at me because I didn't slow down and let them in front of me. That's not how it works. No. You have to come in behind anybody because on the highway, I'm on the highway, you don't slow down to let somebody yield into me. And they were angry.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And we talked about how many times that has happened. People know the rules. That is dangerous. I can't slow down on the highway to let you in. Are you go ahead?
SPEAKER_01Get up to speed, merge like a zipper where you can.
SPEAKER_00But yield means exactly that. Yield. You have to yield to me.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00As the king of the road at this point. Well, anybody who's on that is the king of the road because they have the right-of-way.
Highway Rage: The Yield Sign Debate
SPEAKER_01Well, I think it goes back to that story, and I think I've I think I've told it before on here about because you put your blinker on doesn't mean that you're entitled to come into the lane that you want to get into. It's you know, it's it's a courtesy to be let in, and people will let you in when there's a break, and it's easy to do so. But you can't do it at my own injury expense. Well, as I told you, it was that you know that my buddy that got into the that the greatest one that went to the side side of them, and her response was, Well, didn't you see my blinker on? And she said, Yes. She said, Well, you were supposed to let me in. He goes, No, I saw your blinker on, but you need to wait until it's safe to do so and you can actually get into the lane. I chose not to let you in. Is it a prick move? Sure, maybe it was a prick move to let you in, but it doesn't matter. It's still my right to let you in or not.
SPEAKER_00And so the bigger prick move is just came right into this. Why is she so stupid to keep driving straight?
SPEAKER_01I don't know. And he he had a beat up old car and he's like, it's not gonna hurt my car. It's uh in your head one more debt to the car.
SPEAKER_00That's almost assault, isn't it like if you run into a person, she assaulted you with the car.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00If you're if you're a person, like sure, yeah. There's brakes for a reason.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you know, it's not the Flintstones, but it doesn't, I guess it, you know, it's doesn't get not a day goes by that uh somebody's not complaining about or talking, telling a story about something that's happened to them on the road. But like I said to you before, the crazy part is, and I think I've said it on here again, I haven't met a single person who is the one that's ever at fault.
SPEAKER_00Well, of course, because you have really good friends that are good drivers. That's why. It's it's simple logic.
SPEAKER_01I've been in the car with some of them. No, it's true, though. That's that's just it.
SPEAKER_00It's um I think for me, anyway, is I've been sitting in the back of a car being driven around for a long time, not really paying attention to anything, other than you know, do I got a duck? Something's coming. So this is all kind of new, but I consider myself a pretty good driver. I've never had an accident, I've never had a speed and ticket. You know, parking ticket, yes, you know, happens.
SPEAKER_01You've never had a speeding ticket? Did we talk about this before? Jesus. Yeah. You don't have a speeding ticket. That's all you do.
SPEAKER_00I just fast. I just fast.
SPEAKER_01You always have those little rocket ships.
SPEAKER_00I know, that's a thing, right? But I didn't drive it like a maniac. Yeah, yeah. I used it when I needed it to merge. Right? Yeah, so that's the thing. Fair enough, yeah. You know, it is what it is. But yeah, the driving is everybody leave a little earlier so we all get there alive. Plan ahead. Everybody has families, you have this, that, and the other thing. Everybody wants to go home after work, yeah, right? In in their own car, not in an ambulance, no free rides. You have to pay for the ambulance, by the way. But yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's uh, I think, you know, it's uh, you know, like I think everybody I'm afraid of the winter, Mike.
SPEAKER_00Honestly. Yeah, because these people are driving right behind you, man.
SPEAKER_01You're still gonna see, there's still gonna be bumper riders in the middle of the winter because thinking that you know it doesn't matter that the roads are icy. Oh, I got Michelin's. I can stop. I guess. Yeah. Great. Well, it's like I was saying, T, it's the uh, you know, I think people just believe that the roads are now made for them and you're supposed to just get out of their way. So you go pull out to pass, you're in a pass lane. Sure. You have a right to pass the car, you're pulling out to pass. But if so, if somebody comes up behind you doing, let's say, 140 in a hundred zone, and you're doing one fifteen in a one or one forty and a one ten, you're doing one fifteen and a one ten, you still have a right to pass the person that's going 110 in the 110, because you're going 115. But that person that's going 140 is now on your bumper telling you to get out of their way because it's their highway, yeah, and they want to go faster. Yeah, right. And then that's what that's where I get annoyed. Like, well, like I said, we all have a right to be on the road here, people. Share the road.
SPEAKER_00Not everybody, but most of us, you know.
SPEAKER_01Everybody, everybody has a right to be on the road.
SPEAKER_00If you have a license, yes, that is true. That's a privilege, not a right.
SPEAKER_01That is a privilege, not a right, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Fair enough. But you know, this whole uh driving crazy too, people don't realize we were talking about it just off camera. If you run into the back of somebody, it's your fault. It doesn't matter what they have in your way, stop too quick. It's your fault.
SPEAKER_02You didn't give them enough.
SPEAKER_00Because you have didn't have enough on the highway. Oh man, I'm telling you, if somebody piles their brakes on in one of these highways, it's gonna be a 15-car pileup.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it happens all the time, right?
SPEAKER_00I haven't seen one, and good god, I don't want to be in it.
SPEAKER_01Well, I shouldn't say a big 15-car pileup. That doesn't happen here. Like I haven't seen that here. You see that on like the 401 out in Ontario.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, okay, maybe not 15. Let's go with seven. Sure. You know, and a key.
SPEAKER_01You'll see in the winter time. I mean, the summer's bad enough. In the winter time, there's not a day goes by, there's not gonna be multiple accents.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm a little concerned. Actually, I'm so concerned is I gotta hold Alexis and my guy. And I go, Shaner, buddy, order me some top-level snow tires and let me know when I come in and get them put on. He's like, No problem. So he said, get back to me. So, like I said, that's probably three grand, right? Who knows? Yeah, anyway, gotta have good tires. I don't want to be all over the road, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01Hopefully, it's not that much.
Car Washes and Water Restrictions
SPEAKER_00Well, I'm kind of hoping, but you know, geez, everything's so expensive, mate.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, a couple hundred bucks per tire.
SPEAKER_00I bought some deodorant, it was nine dollars. No, yeah. I remember when you go to Walmart getting you old spice for$347. What are those days?
SPEAKER_01We were talking at uh here's a good one for you. We were talking at work anyway. Won't get into the details of it, but between the games we were doing a bit of uh talking about your first job. Oh, and you know, there's like quite the gap in in ages at the workplace, and so uh well when was your first blow job, what? So I said my first job when I started, I started at four four twenty-five or four fifty an hour, which was minimum wage back then.
SPEAKER_00God, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01That would have been 19, either 89, 90, right? But anyway, and then there's there's a like you know, there, but then there was somebody else that worked that started, you know, with their first job,$20 an hour.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_01Obviously, it wasn't a minimum wage job. No, clearly not. Wow, because I think but minimum wage, I think, now is what,$15.
SPEAKER_00Somebody's I was talking to uh some young folks the other day, when I say young, 18 to 25, somewhere in there. They were saying it's been going up a little bit each year, 30 cents, but it's like 17 or something like that.
SPEAKER_01Oh, maybe it's going up to 17. I thought it was 15. I thought it was 15.
SPEAKER_00I could be wrong. I could it could be 15 something, but you know, other yeah, yeah, you don't you don't have to pay minimal, you can pay more. Yeah. At Costco, they pay more, for instance. So yeah, good for them, right? Right on, go Costco. But anyway, that was that was an interesting interesting. That is interesting. Four and a quarter to twenty bucks.
SPEAKER_01Taught minor basketball. That's what I did in high school, right? In the summer times.
SPEAKER_00Right. Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_01It was fun, a lot of fun. Well, it is fun, especially being in high school. Like spend the morning teaching the younger kids. The afternoon, the older kids come in, so you essentially just scrimmaging and playing basketball all afternoon. It was great.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I refereed and lines person for so yeah. Oh, it was rough, but you know, I wasn't doing senior maths.
SPEAKER_01At the minor basketball, I ref even those scrimmages, and that was enough for that.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I hear you. I listen, that's why I try not to get on the NBA refs too bad. Yeah, yeah. Because it's a rough job. I mean, you know, if you're gonna throw the game, let me know because I'd like to make those bets, Danny. But yeah. So any refing is a tough job, but it doesn't matter. It's happened so fast, people don't realize how fast it is, right? I know, right? Hockey, too, you know, small collisions on the ice, but anyway.
SPEAKER_01Oh god, yeah. Yeah. So they're so faster, they're stronger. It's yeah, anyway.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, yeah. I I it's crazy. CRISPR, go CRISPR. I just saw there's a hurricane coming up, El Mundo or something coming up from the US. Uh did you catch that one? Humberto or something. Umberto, I can't know Parliament, Francis. It's going, it's going up. It's not gonna come up. Spanish. Uh there's two of them.
SPEAKER_01I think there's another one that's a that's within the next 48 hours, it's probably gonna turn into at least a tropical storm by the time it hits land. So we're gonna get some rain one. But that's going into the the Carolinas, and I think this other one, this Humberto or whatever the hell it's called, it's it's going out into the Atlantic. So it's it's following the same path the last couple have. They're gonna go, it's gonna veer out into the Atlantic. We'll get some waves, maybe a bit of rain and wind, but nothing.
SPEAKER_00How can they always name them like Spanish or white names? I want to hear like Hurricane Chiniqua.
unknownRight?
SPEAKER_00I'm sure they I got a friend named that, so why can't she have a hurricane? They run through the names.
SPEAKER_01I don't know how they I don't know how they pick them.
SPEAKER_00There's Hurricane Bob.
SPEAKER_01I'm sure there is a method how they do it, but it's probably a bingo ball.
SPEAKER_00They throw it in and turn the thing around. It's like, oh, Hurricane Miguel. Yeah, right. Okay, well, who knows? Who knows?
SPEAKER_01I wonder uh what they do once they get past, you know, and they if they have a real busy season and they get past the Zed, what comes next after that? Do they go to the Greek? Do they go Hurricane Alpha, Hurricane Beta? Like what do they do? Right, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, right back to Hebrew. Yeah, that's great. Have to go look it up.
SPEAKER_01If you know, send it. Let us know. Yeah, let us know. Because there's a good chance we probably won't go look it up and we'll just forget.
SPEAKER_00And our tech guy doesn't listen very well, so sometimes he screws shit up. He uh no no abla anglaise.
SPEAKER_01That's right, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, thanks. Uh anyway, we're getting them cheap. It's on the biggest.
SPEAKER_01But you know, we talked about this before. It is that cease, and it's you know, we're coming into October, so we've been lucky so far, but some of the big ones that have hit in the 10 years that I've been back home have been, you know, in October. Even in might might have been a good one even in November one year. So it's still we still get another month or so of this kind of right, right? Right. But we're at H. Yeah, eight H, yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's right, that's right. But uh, I mean Nova Scotia Power is not gonna like it because uh if you didn't hear, they got fined a million dollars. For well, they're supposed to have okay, so there's there's laws and rules that have little stipulations. So it says people should not go without power for longer than like four hours sixteen minutes. Okay, okay, which I thought was pretty good, really. You know, if you think about it, it's pretty quick if you ask me.
SPEAKER_01It's pretty good.
SPEAKER_00I say I'm like personally, but I'm not I don't work for Nova Scotia Power.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00But they said that Nova Scotia Power's numbers are like five hours, 17 minutes, so an hour difference. Almost an hour more than what they're which still isn't that bad, really. If people are listening, don't be mad. I just don't know any different. But so people are saying, oh, we don't think a million dollars is a big enough fine. Probably not, right?
SPEAKER_01Well, I guess the thing would be is so they, you know, they must have that metric that they need to meet.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But how long have they had the how long have they had to meet that metric and how many years in a row have they not? So every year they've never met it. So that'll be the bigger thing, right? Is are they are they making any improvements to get better never? That's what they're saying.
SPEAKER_00That's the that's exactly what the argument is, right? Hire more people when you say we don't have the manpower, that is bullshit to me. People need jobs.
SPEAKER_01And there, you know what there'll be a new rate increase application that they'll put through because they'll want to pass all that back on to us again, right? The consumer. That's what they keep doing, man.
SPEAKER_00That's we get the chainsaw and just cut down all the trees.
SPEAKER_01After the fucking data breach, which by the way, fuck you, Nova Scotia Power. Not that it happened, but how you handled it.
SPEAKER_00That's right. Um Yeah, that's right.
SPEAKER_01Call them it. That's fine.
SPEAKER_00Beaches.
SPEAKER_01Um, a rate increase, uh, you know, like already? Yes. Because they're already killed.
SPEAKER_00God, man, you're gouging the fine folks, uh haligonians.
SPEAKER_01Gonna keep to make their money and keep their shareholders happy or and everything else.
SPEAKER_00I don't have no shares in that bloody company, buddy. Yeah, that's disgusting. Yeah. Anyway, anyway. Fuck you, Nova Scotia Power.
SPEAKER_01Don't cut off my power though, but fuck you. Yeah, that's uh Bruce. Bruce Dunner. That's right.
SPEAKER_00Bruce Dunner. Uncle Frank is his nickname. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uncle Frank, that's right. All right.
SPEAKER_00Speaking of Uncle Frank, the other day I was out uh uh visiting that area, and uh I'm hearing I'm like, what the point? What am I hearing? Go next door. Uncle Frank's on a step ladder. What? Uncle Frank's on a stepladder. Probably in a oh yeah, like this man, he's 80 years old, be cancer, you know. Oh yeah. Tough as nails, this fella. Love him. And uh he's got the uh, I don't know what you call it, like a hedge trimmer.
unknownSure.
SPEAKER_00There's like a couple of trees, and he's just, you know, trimming them up nice like a Christmas tree.
SPEAKER_01It's like a little is it like a little chainsaw on the end?
SPEAKER_00Uh, I don't think it's a chainsaw. It looks like it looks like uh an alligator gar. It's got all these. Yeah, alligator gar is a thing in Africa. It's a giant fish. Sure. But uh yeah, it's not an air pine, it's different. But anyway, um, yeah, so I'm like, I don't, you know, it's I'm like, ooh. Nine one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Well, that's what the we have we have the pole saw, and you know, when you actually put the extension on it, it's you know, all the weights on the one end, right? Oh, yeah, right, right.
SPEAKER_00And that's like a chainsaw, right?
Outdoor Fires and Weather Talk
SPEAKER_01It's this, it's a little mini chainsaw, yeah. That's pretty cool. Yeah, yeah, it's pretty cool. Like if it's pretty cool. So you can get up and get some of the branches, it helps you get the branches. I think I told you this before the moment I met, um I introduced my wife to it, all of a sudden I came home and there was like trees down everywhere. Well, they brought her a little hand to it.
SPEAKER_00You can't see that, but if you look back, it's uh it looks like a hurricane went through.
SPEAKER_01Like I go in with the chainsaw and I'll take the big trees down and I do that every now and then, or I'll go in and I'll clean up some of the pines that are all growing up all over the place. But anyway, once we got the pole saw and the little hand saw, I came home and it's like a third of my property's gone, and all the trees are gone, man. Good on her, though. She loves doing it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Uh well, that's what happens when they teach them how to use stuff and they're uh uh fun doing.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I bought it for her.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's what I mean. She's having fun doing it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, give her your oh yeah. I come home and a massive pile of like just down trees, all the it's hilarious when you're a show. Can't wait, you know, like the fire band just got lifted, so she's gonna be out there. Oh, that's right. All right, the next one. I'm gonna come home probably a couple times this week. There'll be fires going now. You can smell them last night. Yeah, I love it. I love the smell of fire. Claude's like, oh, it's warm out. Yeah, sorry, didn't mean to say your name. Yeah, so bad at it.
SPEAKER_00Um well, at least she's not screaming at somebody else's. That's true.
SPEAKER_01Uh Bruce. It's it's happened more than once. Um so anyway, got home last night, and it's like, oh, is there, you know, is somebody have their wood space. Doesn't that smell so good, though? It's so hot out. Why do we got why do people have their fires going? I was like, no, it's outdoor fires. They have the fire page. Oh, I forgot. She'd be all excited.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, man. I smelled one the other night. It's great. It's like that's so cool.
SPEAKER_01It's nice, yeah. And it's you don't smell fire where I was. And it's the perfect time. Like they've been gorgeous evenings, dropping down to about 12 degrees Celsius here. You know, you have you sit out, you have a fire going, you get your sweater on. It's it's perfect time to sit around a fire right now, right?
SPEAKER_00So well, you know, everybody complained about the summer here, but I mean, there was no mosquitoes. Because there was no stagnant water, because there was no water. Right, yeah. There was basically no mosquitoes anywhere.
SPEAKER_01There was, I'll tell you, there was at the beginning, but yeah, you're right.
SPEAKER_00Like later in the year, it's it's we still haven't had a never get bit once.
SPEAKER_01We still haven't had a decent, like the other night we had a good rainstorm.
SPEAKER_00Not enough to do anything.
SPEAKER_01No, barely made a puddle. Those lakes, those backup water supplies you drive around the city right now, they're still so dry and so low with the water levels.
SPEAKER_00Well, the car wash, uh, my way was they they shut it down, and that's on city water.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because I was gonna say that I thought like a lot of the car washes, uh, I didn't tell you this. They run on recycled water as well, which is why they don't end up restrictions on them, but it doesn't matter, but not all of them, so some of them might, right?
SPEAKER_00But yeah, I don't think I told you this story. So um before okay, I don't even know when this was. Before my car went into the shop, I wanted to get it cleaned up, you know, just because it was so dirty and whatever, right? So I go, I go up, I get gas, filler up. Yeah, I go in, I said the young fellow, I said, I'd like to buy a car wash. He goes, Yep, no problem. So I go out, car wash closed. But he charged me for the car wash. Oh, yeah, okay. So for the next three days, car wash was closed. Is there an extra? I got I still have the paper, it's on my desk. Yeah, but the funny thing was he didn't even think to tell me. Yeah, yeah. Like, you know, that was all bossed up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he might not want to, he might want to go down the road and yeah, like, come on, man.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, but like I was saying, it's on city water, so I found that odd.
SPEAKER_01But if you say it's on recycled, okay, well, I think some of them might be, some of them, I don't know, right? Yeah. Right.
SPEAKER_00But anyway, I mean, I still have the slips. So I'm assuming when my car gets back, whenever that is, it'll be all shined up. Like it better be bright. There's no way it's not gonna be all shined up. Like, you know, they've just painted it.
SPEAKER_01Oh, if they're painting, they would have cleaned around. Yeah, they cleaned the whole thing.
SPEAKER_00Well, dude, if that car comes back dirty, I'm gonna be pissed. By the way, I didn't tell you this, or maybe I did. They told me, oh, we'll keep you apprised as we go every second day.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Is there a phone call?
SPEAKER_01Nothing, eh?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, nothing until yesterday. Or sorry, what's it today? Uh till uh Friday. Yeah, Friday afternoon. Phone rings. Hey, uh, how are you? Like, good, good. Uh this is Alexis, yeah, yeah, yeah. I said great. Can I come get my car? Well, that's what we're calling about.
SPEAKER_01Not ready.
SPEAKER_00Uh what? Yeah, well, yeah, we had a problem. One of the paint boots went down, so uh we spray painted it. I'm like, what? He did say that. Yeah, and he goes, Okay, so he says, We were down for five days. I'm like, okay. He goes, We might have it to you by the the 2nd of October. And I'm like, next Thursday? He goes, Yeah, that's the next. I said, okay, man.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00So anyway, that car's been in for uh way too long. They said 11 days. Yeah, it's already been three weeks.
SPEAKER_01No, man, I tried to get my car in just to have its regular servicing done, and it's almost a month just to even get in to get that done.
Women's Rugby World Cup Results
SPEAKER_00That is crazy. Hire more people. Like there's so many people need a job, and that everywhere you go, everybody's waiting to get things done. Yeah. Well, doctors, the same. Anyway. Yeah. So the big game yesterday, England against China.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00In the Rugby World Cup.
SPEAKER_01In the Rugby World Cup. Unfortunately, we didn't win, but we good tournament for the girl, for the women. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And remember, amateur.
SPEAKER_01Amateur.
SPEAKER_00Amateur women.
SPEAKER_01Had a great showing. Uh just you know, I'm sure they're disappointed. They did they did really well, but nobody goes into the tournament thinking I want to come second, right? Uh but England's just too good. Like they're so fast. I think I was telling you when I was looking it up. They haven't lost in 33 games. It's the longest ever international rugby win streak. Right. Uh, you know, when we lived in New Zealand, all blacks, there was a stretch where like they just didn't lose. They didn't have 33 straight wins. That's crazy. And they were, you know, they were dominating everybody that state. So anyway, um, good on you, Canada. Well done. Really good tournament. Hopefully it's uh you know, gonna do the do the same for the sport that you know, like Vince did when he came to the Raptors, and you know what the women's soccer does now. Like it's you know, it's enough.
SPEAKER_00Uh listen, the women Canada's women's soccer.
SPEAKER_01The big stadium over there, Twickenheim?
SPEAKER_00Is that what it's uh where? In England. England. Oh, I thought it was the O2, wasn't it? The O2 is the big one.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, but this was like at a big sports field, like the Twicken. Oh, yeah. Anyway, massive stadium, more than double, I think. So like the last World Cup, I believe, was in New Zealand. And it like that at that time it was like you know, the most most watched women's game live. And it like this one blew it under the water. So it's only getting more and more popular. So hopefully we'll see Canada stay at the top, and maybe they'll start actually becoming professionals instead of being amateurs and having to crowdfund just to get to the world. Isn't that weird? Isn't that crazy? So even more impressive that they don't have the money for the training. Super impressive, and they still got that. They still got and they're still that good. They're number two in the world.
SPEAKER_00Well, and like we said, in any sport at any given time, the top five teams can beat each other on any day. Yeah, yeah. Right? But here's the other thing, too. People don't realize this about Canada. It's all the women's sports that are the best, right?
SPEAKER_01And if you don't know basketball, the men's basketball team is actually doing really well right now.
SPEAKER_00Well, they are, there, I'll give you that.
SPEAKER_01And hockey.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01All right, but what we're saying in general, nobody can beat us at CFL.
SPEAKER_00This is why we don't work for ESP and or whatever it is. ES ESP.
SPEAKER_01We contradict we contradict each other right away.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. The point is, we're trying to say that the women's are really coming up, and here's the other thing people don't know. There are more women Canadian Olympians than men.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00All right, and it's not it's not close either. So go women, but hey fellas, what are you doing? Like, can we uh you know up the Olympic levels for the guys too? Like, you know, everybody's getting old, right? Neil deGrasse, not Neil deGrasse, Tyson de Grasse. Neil deGrasse. I'd like to see you run Neil deGrasse, Mr. Scientist. Andre, is that here? Andre Degrasse is that the runner. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, he's he's awesome, but uh yeah. So they did well.
SPEAKER_01They just uh the worlds, I think they second to the US, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I watched it, it was in the porn rain, too, bro. It's porn. Yeah, that was pretty good.
SPEAKER_01But I think the problem with that is I think like this is like probably the most since the we had a really good running squad in the 80s, right?
SPEAKER_00Like oh yeah, Ben Johnson and the boys, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Right and then um but anyway, Donovan Donovan Bailey. Donovan Bailey, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Another freak. Yeah, we had some good sprinters.
SPEAKER_01We had some good sprinters. Uh he was yeah, but anyway, I think a lot of these guys now are in their 30s, so yeah, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and you got the young fellows there.
SPEAKER_01In good shape as you are, you know.
SPEAKER_00It's a it's a young man's sport.
SPEAKER_01It's a young man's sport. Young man's sport. Yeah, just like swimming. Look at swimming, like we talked about Summer Macintosh, like how good. Yeah, you gotta be 12 now. She's 18, right? Yeah, yeah, there was a wasn't there a Chinese swimmer. Yeah, like 13 or 13 years old, like crazy. Yeah, and did well.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but they also made rules now about the Olympics. You had to be 15 or something to do in the Olympics. Yeah, because he's there's just there's freaks in the world.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, I guess you don't want to, yeah, anyway. Yeah, that's fair enough.
SPEAKER_00Athletic freaks. Yeah, right. You see them all over the place. No, I just saw this young fellow the other day at uh where I was, and he's probably what age group was that teen. Uh probably uh 14. Dude. This kid had muscle on muscle at 14. Oh, yeah? Yeah. And I looked at him and went, what? Like, look at the veins, like when did you start working out?
SPEAKER_01Like taking it serious, training. Because like I I would I so like playing basketball all through high school. We went to the gym, we worked out, but we didn't, you know, like we weren't shredded and like, you know, like but I mean we, you know, was northern northern New Brunswick as well. So but still 15.
SPEAKER_00I started doing like curls and bench and you know, squatting and pull-ups, you know, couldn't really do it.
SPEAKER_01It was very targeted exercises for you know the muscles you use in basketball and stuff like that, right?
Basketball Talk: NBA Updates and Injuries
SPEAKER_00But we are never well, at least you were doing that for soccer, like okay, run. Run, well yeah, now run some more. We'd go run when you sugarloaf mountain up where I got it.
SPEAKER_01And we would run it, and you'd run, leave from the school, run through the woods, do the loop around the mountain, run back. Yeah, it was good running though. Like it was it was beautiful. I love doing that. We'd do that at do that early in the morning. We'd have practice at like uh time six o'clock, I think six thirty, we'd have to be at practice. We'd run to practice we'd we'd do a we'd do a quick little practice and we'd do a run, and then you go back, shower, and then go to classes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, that's all right. Yeah, that's all right.
SPEAKER_01But yeah. But anyway, it's uh yeah, good on these kids. Muscle on muscle at how old?
SPEAKER_0014?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You know, he's not huge, but he's like it's all there. Yeah in veins. Like that's the thing that caught me.
SPEAKER_01I guess the other thing too, though, is you know, saying that, like I said, we had targeted exercises, like, but it's just gotten better and better and better with the sports medicine and the sports science and everything, right? With like high new look at your body. I think I told you before our basketball court was like a concrete slab with like a thick two-inch rubber uh coating on top of it or whatever, right? So good for your joints. Anyone that went to that had played growing in at Sugarloaf High School, like back in the day, you walk now, all you don't have ankles on the case. It's like the ankles and the knees just make so much noise, man. Because like we just did such a number on our bodies, and we were there every day, like through the summer. You know, dad wouldn't you be able to do that? Like I like I coach minor basketball, but even then, like dad had the keys to the gym, so we would open the gym and just hey man, what do you want to do today? It's raining or you want to go let's go, let's go get the let's go to the school and shoot. If it wasn't raining, you'd be up at the up at the gyro park playing. If it was ra if it was raining, you'd go, dad would open the school and we'd all go in and play basketball in the school.
SPEAKER_00But listen, bottom line for that and what we're talking about, discipline ain't gonna hurt you.
SPEAKER_01It's not, right? And then you build it's funny, like fuck, I don't have those habits now, but like you know, like then you just that's all you did. Like you just built those habits and that's all you did every day, right? You know, you hear the stories of what Larry Bird shooting a thousand shots a day or whatever, right?
SPEAKER_00But like Steph Curry, same thing.
SPEAKER_01But you go back and you look and you're like, yeah, man, like it would it wouldn't surprise me if you counted it up. You must we must have shot like 500 shots a day, and then we would scrimmage too for like hours.
SPEAKER_00I just saw a graphic of uh Steph Curry's fourth, however many threes he has, like on the court. It looks like a city.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so I've seen it. Did you see it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, it's pretty neat, and like, wow, and it extends all the way back to half court. Yeah, which is also bananas, right? Yeah, yeah. The stream like, what am I looking at? There's like a lot. Yeah, it's not even a couple, right? But yeah. So basketball, Kawhi Leonard. Well, uh reading, apparently there's some options there. He could be fined a couple of dollars, right, for his uh participation in the whatever it is. Uh he could have his contract canceled.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_00We'll pick him up for the Lakers, right? And uh another one is uh uh uh the uh who's the owner?
SPEAKER_01Oh, Bomber.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he could also be fined. Yep, and something else could happen there. And Kawhi could be suspended. And the joke is well, let's suspend it to the playoffs, so he's fresh. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course. Kwine's like, yeah, yeah, I should be suspended.
SPEAKER_01Or like I said, yeah, well, we or nothing.
SPEAKER_00Or nothing. 100% zero, and go just make it go away. This is what I was saying.
SPEAKER_01I said, Who I feel bad for is poor Chris Paul. Yes, signs back with the clippers, gonna go back. You know, if you got a healthy team, you know, clippers are just as good as anybody else in the West.
SPEAKER_00And now there's all this controversy.
SPEAKER_01And now, you know, you know, when he left, it was all the sterling um, yeah, the other stuff, right? So he leaves, Clippers turn everything around. Chris Paul goes back and it's like, oh, by the way, welcome back, Chris. Here's another scandal for you to deal with.
SPEAKER_00Welcome back, Chris. Uh Mike, you remember we talked uh a couple episodes ago about uh Kelly Osborne and uh uh Chris Jenner getting new heads?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, we got another fella who got a new head, Zion Williamson. Oh, right, skinny brand new head, skinny Zion. He looks like the rock on crack.
SPEAKER_01I hope it makes a difference, man.
SPEAKER_00Me too, because I want to see that guy play, and so does everybody else.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Right? He can still jump out of the gym. I mean, he was 285. He had the old pumpkin face.
SPEAKER_01But I wonder if it was like he had so much hype. And you know, again, you can give give the credit to LeBron. LeBron came in with more hype than anybody ever and like handled it. Did it.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_01Zion came in with that kind of hype and wrecked a pair of Nikes.
SPEAKER_00Remember he blew right out to say, but like, I mean, you know.
SPEAKER_01But he just every time every year he looked like he was bigger and bigger, fatter and fatter. Could still jump out of the gym, but still, man. Like, you know, when he when he played, he was still unstoppable when he played, right? So big. Yeah, so big and so big. So that's so there you go. So big and strong. Let's see.
SPEAKER_00So now he's basketball size, sort of basketball size. Sort of.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. We've talked about this. You don't need to be big to be strong. So you could start.
SPEAKER_00No, he's a genetic freak in game, obviously. Like he's just one of those. He should have played football.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_00Right? He's like, holy smoke.
SPEAKER_01I hope he stays healthy, man. Cause like, you know, it's we all do. You look at like we were talking about this, you know, he's what one year he didn't play at all, next year like 20-some games.
SPEAKER_00So few. It's shocking how few have for his age.
SPEAKER_01I think I saw, you know, I think I was telling you that the they're already talking about, well, we gotta ease Embiid back in because there's another guy that's been injured every year. Paul George, I think they're talking about the same thing. Well, we gotta ease him back in.
SPEAKER_00I keep forgetting about Paul George vanished.
SPEAKER_01Well, remember, he had that horrible leg injury there.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_01Um but you know, anyway, and then he's had for a minute.
SPEAKER_00I thought he retired. I forgot.
SPEAKER_01People, I don't if you don't know, like you know, Paul George has his moments of brilliance, like that Indiana Paul George when like you had LeBron in the Heatles going up against Paul George and that that major scene. Oh man, like Paul George is so yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, and then uh Kyle Lowry.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, oh my god, is he still with the Sixers too?
SPEAKER_00I don't know who he's with now, but I just saw these uh is it Achilles or ACL or something?
SPEAKER_01Just injured himself? Yeah, just injured.
SPEAKER_00Oh for the season. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I Kyle, poor Kyle. Just well, Kyle's up there. He's 65 now. Yeah, yeah. Sign a sign a sign a year contract with the or sign a day contract with the Raptors and retire, man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I shouldn't say that. Play as long as you want.
SPEAKER_00He's probably 35. Probably 35, right? Gotta be.
SPEAKER_01Oh, easy 35. I was thinking he's even older than that.
SPEAKER_00We'll get the tech to look it up. We'll put it right here. Yeah. Whatever age he is.
SPEAKER_01Whatever age he is.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, you look, you know, like uh KD's 35, 36, the steps up there, right? Like so these guys can play late into their careers, but you know, Kyle's definitely seen uh he plays all yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, the way he plays too, right? Part of the body. Yeah. Which is the argument for BPC 157 the peptide to make you recover.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Right? Sure. It's not a PED, doesn't give you extra anything.
SPEAKER_01I thought you were having a stroke there.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, no. Stroke, stroke, what? So yeah. So anyway, all right, that's it for today, everybody. All right. So thanks for showing up. It's Bobby D and Uncle Uncle Frank and Uncle Frank.
SPEAKER_01Your Uncle Frank's not gonna like catch me outside, uh, catch me outside sometime and beat the crap out of his.
SPEAKER_00No, no, he'll sit you down and have a whiskey and tell you all the boat back in the day. Hey, I'm I love whiskey. Let's go, Uncle Frank. Uncle Frank is uh he's uh one of those guys, yeah. So I don't think I ever saw him drink beer, but anyway. Yeah, so uh you can see us on uh Buzzsproat, Apple, Spotify, and uh of course my actual channel, the uh OnlyFans. I closed that. The the mess should open it back up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh uh Muscle and Fiction uh with uh coach Bobby. So thanks for coming, everybody. Have yourself a great day, and uh we'll see you next week.
