The city feels electric: packed PWHL showcases, a Canada–US women’s final on deck, and a 16-year-old phenom rewriting what’s possible. We channel that energy into a bigger question—can Halifax sustain a women’s pro hockey team? Between sellouts, fan buzz, and a deep local hockey culture, the case is strong. We pair the hype with the honest stuff too: slushy storms, slick roads, and potholes big enough to end a rim. It’s the kind of winter episode where you can smell the wet gloves drying by the door.

From there we widen the lens. A police shooting after back-to-back liquor store robberies shakes a neighborhood; we unpack what we know, why tasers fail, and how sensational headlines can cloud the truth. Then we shift to the NBA, where star power meets system reality. Anthony Edwards drops a monster night against Wemby, but the better scheme wins. The Lakers’ defense is the tell—slow point-of-attack, blown rotations, and injuries that erase rhythm. So we ask the hard question: keep Austin Reaves as a cornerstone or trade for defense and give LeBron one last sprint? It’s a classic timeline tug-of-war, win-now vs. build-later.

And because combat sports always find a way in, we break down a rare buggy choke that stunned a veteran, why unusual submissions can flip a match, and why GSP’s name still draws challenges years after retiring. Between book-in-hand street strolls, audiobooks in traffic, and a rink full of kids carving first edges, this is a full-course slice of local life meeting big-league drama.

Join us, hit play, and then tell us what you’d do: secure a PWHL franchise, trade for defense, or double down on youth? If this episode hit home, follow the show, share it with a friend, and leave a quick review so more smart listeners can find us.

Cold Open And Roll Call

SPEAKER_01

Man. Ah, we're going way off topic. You know what else I've been watching recently? And I never saw it. We don't care. That guy can't say shit. He's not here. That's right. That's right. He's he's doing this one and this and other things. Hey everybody, welcome back to You Would Think with Bobby D and Brothers from Another Mother. Now, once again, there are two small pussy cats running around. So uh you might see them, you might not, but we might be looking places we usually don't look. Our uh tech guy is not here today. He's uh with his friends apparently. The Iran is a shit show, and they're all supporting each other over there. He's Iranian, our guy's Iranian. So, you know, best of luck to him and his family. For sure. His old man's still over there, his mom's on this side, but dad's still over there, so it's a shit show. So we wish him the best. It's our boy Bardia. All right. So I don't have my hat on. I should have I was wearing it the whole way in. It took it off when I got out of the car. No, I had my Canada hockey hat on.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know why?

SPEAKER_02

I do.

SPEAKER_01

Tell me why. Because the women in the fucking liar. No, go ahead. What?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, because the because we got another another finals coming up with Canada and US.

Lacrosse, High-School Mayhem, And Nostalgia

SPEAKER_01

Canada and the US both made it to the finals of the women's. So uh I'm assuming when's that game then? Mike? Tonight? Tomorrow? I didn't see it. I don't know. I have to look at that. Go Canada. You know? So clearly we're gonna get gold or silver. Right? So that's pretty good. Usually the way. And uh man, there's there's uh I I watched a couple of the games. I do. There's a 16-year-old girl on on the US team. Unreal. Just ridiculous. And I'm so sorry, I can't remember her name. She already has the tie for the amount of goals and and then passed it with like she's got two games left or whatever. Oh, in like a in a tournament, you mean? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, she's 16. Yeah, crazy, crazy good. So she's definitely gonna play in the new women's pro league for sure, right? Yeah, so we'll see what happens there.

SPEAKER_02

But uh, this is a weird they just had that women's uh so they had the second game that so they've had two different of the PWHL games here now in Halifax, and they've both been sold out, both been really good games. Crazy, right? Anybody I've talked to that's gone to them said like amazing games, like they would definitely go against the game.

SPEAKER_01

Radio announcements. So Helifax, get a team. Radio announcers said Halifax can support a team. No question. Yeah, it's a good hockey team. Okay, listen, somebody's gonna get mad at us for this, but we have the Halifax Thunder Thunder, what, Thunderbolts? Thunderbirds. Yeah, that's lacrosse team. Yeah, lacrosse, huh? Right, lacrosse. If we can support a lacrosse team, we can certainly support a hockey team here in Halifax. Are you kidding me? Yeah, well, I mean, we have moose heads here that they like the human team, they get a lot of sport, right? They do. So, yeah, so go. And it's big.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you know. Yeah, lacrosse is big. I remember in uh when we lived in Edmonton there, the god, was it the Rock? I can't remember the city. Canada's national sports. They were actually like that. There's a big following out there too. Good game, fast game. Oh, we played it in high school. Oh, did you? Yeah, I never played it. Good fun. I mean, we I remember playing it in uh in gym class or something, right? Oh, that's what I mean. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Killing each other with the sticks. Killing each other with the sticks, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Mr. McVicker, God rest his soul, just go easy fellas, and then turn his head. Yeah, that's right.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's what it was.

SPEAKER_01

Kuroo into the curtain.

SPEAKER_02

Gord!

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, poor Gord.

SPEAKER_02

How was gym class today? Oh, only three of us came away with bloody. Yeah, that's right. It was a good time.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, dude. I had a gym class with savages. Like I remember these guys, Mark Beaver and Randy. These guys are trying to hurt you. It was fun. Yeah, yeah. You know, they were they were hockey players. Great name, by the way. Mark Beaver. That's his real name. I'm not even making that up. Yeah, Mark, if you're listening, good guy, man. Like a true Canadian name. True Canadian name. Mark Beaver. Mark Beaver. Yeah. Right. So you might hear that jingling in the back. It ain't Santa Claus. It's my kitty cat. Got his little bell there. And it's not heroin. What?

SPEAKER_02

Not heroin.

Border Drug Bust And Street-Price Cynicism

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you weren't talking about heroin. Speaking of heroin, there was a giant shipment uh caught, so we're gonna be a little late with her making her stuff this week. Uh yeah. 42 kg. That's a small child. Actually, that's a pretty good idea. Coming from the U.S. It can be. I forgot to check which border crossing. But good on you for the border guards that got that one, right? 42 kg. Well, just curious, Mike. It said it was an 18-wheeler. Pretty sure they could put more than 42 kg. Uh-oh. Our guys are dirty too. Yeah. Uh, watch the movie Rip. What's that? I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, wouldn't be able to tell you. Did they say what the dollar value was on that?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, they make it up anyway. They don't even bother doing that anymore. Well, they give that.

SPEAKER_02

I think they they try to go off what the street price is or whatever on it.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, well, I don't think the guys know what the street price is. Yeah. Right? I would know. I have no idea. Well, I don't know. Yeah, you know what? Yeah, yeah. So uh you might not know this uh terrible drug, by the way.

SPEAKER_02

Glad I'm glad they kind of stopped it from coming into the case.

SPEAKER_01

Heroin, I can't I mean, you know, you always know somebody did this drug or that drug. You know somebody who knew somebody I never know anybody or heard of heroin. Me neither. In the circles of 15 billion people have been in. Same. It doesn't exist, but yeah, that's a bad. But well, here's the weird part. That's what all the homeless are hooked on. Wait a minute, how much is heroin? Like, is it cheap or something? How do the homeless get hooked on it if it's uh I don't know. Yeah. Anyway, God bless anybody that's got that kind of uh addiction, you know. Hopefully you can get it fixed. Uh if I say this name, you might not know it. Eric von Danigan.

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

That sounds like a uh Art Vanderle.

SPEAKER_01

Which, if you don't know, is from Seinfeld fake Vanderlei Industries. George Costanza made it up so we'd have a place to work. You want to be my latex mail?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah, see? Which is which is actually like uh that wasn't a a a scripted line. Jerry came up with that. Oh, did yeah, like that's the family came out. I don't know what he was supposed to say, but George, you know, Jerry opens the door, and I think the scene's supposed to end with him looking at George down as well. No, it's a telephone.

SPEAKER_01

He's when the phone rang, Jerry picked it up. And it's no Kramer answers it. Oh, Kramer answers.

SPEAKER_02

Nobody here, and George is in the bathroom and he comes running out, falls down, and Jerry opens the door, comes back into his own apartment, comes in and sees him there. I think he's just coming back in and gets away.

SPEAKER_01

You want to be my latex sales.

SPEAKER_02

And you want to be my latex. And that was like an ad-lib line, and it was a classic line, right?

SPEAKER_01

Well, what's even worse is that was in the 90s. We both knew the exact wording of the 100%. Yeah, clearly we're savants.

SPEAKER_02

There's a way even whenever we talk about rental cars, we all kind of talk about the same thing too. When Jerry goes, Oh, Jerry goes to the thing and he's like, I have a reservation. You don't have my reservation. You know, he's like, a reservation. Oh, you hold you hold my car here. And she goes, Sir, I understand it has a reservation where I don't think you don't think you do. Because if you did, I'd have a car.

SPEAKER_01

I just actually watched the bloopers. You know this episode too. It's when uh George was driving his dad's convertible and had the letterman jacket on, and they're in the prison. Or the jail's not present, they're in jail, and they can't he can't hold the you at the basic. Oh, yeah, with the with the lane and uh Jerry Stiller.

SPEAKER_02

Jerry Stiller? Yeah, he's he was great. He was great, he's another one. I know we're going on a Seinfeld page. We love definitely love Seinfeld. Oh, yeah, huge Seinfeld film. When you would watch him in the show, like I guess when he would pause, it's because he's trying to remember his lines. So the way he the way Jerry Stiller the way he delivered his lines sometimes, there'd be a pause. Yeah, because he was trying to remember his lines.

Sitcoms Ranked: Two Broke Girls And Writers’ Room Zingers

SPEAKER_01

Wow. I just I didn't realize this. Like uh for once you know what you know how your algorithm works, right? Oh, by the way, remember I asked you for those things with the wheels? Yeah, bro, it just keeps falling. Of course it does, yeah. Kidding me? I didn't even research it. I know, right? Anyway, uh, yeah, I just saw I didn't know this. It showed Jerry Seinfeld he was dating a 17-year-old, and he was like in his 30s. Yeah, I couldn't, yeah. I remember he was she was she was young, yeah. I remember that. And then it says like he there was an interview and he was like, He made a big deal about it at the time, too. I don't remember. And he goes, Oh, you know, we well, we didn't consummate the relationship till she was 18 and they were together for a few years, but I'm just like you were dating a 17-year-old? Is that his uh and is that his current wife still? Yeah, like are they still together? Okay, I don't know. Long done. Long done. Yeah, you know, but I mean, you know, Leo DiCaprio's next girlfriend's not even born yet.

unknown

I know.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_02

I saw Nikki Glazer made a joke about it again. Like, and she's like, I'm sorry, man, I'm sorry. We just don't know anything else about you. Yeah, you know, the only thing that's the same joke they always make about hey, you know, you've had such a great career, you know, you did this, this, this, and this, you know, all before your daughter, you know, uh, you know, all before your girlfriend even turned 30 or something like that, right?

SPEAKER_01

Like, yeah, you know what the best thing was? I watched the clip of Howard Stern where she read all the jokes she wasn't allowed to write.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I saw that too. She does it every year, she did it last year.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't know, but that was pretty cool. I was like, oh, a lot of Sean Penn jokes. Yep. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's pretty good as they're pretty good though. She's pretty good. She can write, man. Ah, we're going way off topic. You know what else I've been watching recently? We are way off topic. And I never saw it. We don't care. That guy can't say shit. He's not here. He's not here to screw it. That's right. He's usually doing this one and this and other things. Yeah. Yeah. Um shit. What was I going with? Uh uh Two Broke Girls. Oh, yeah. This show, uh, Whitney Cummings created it and she's a writer on it. Uh, I'm not a big fan of Whitney Cummings' uh comedy myself, but this show is so well written, man. I watched it for a while when I was like, Yeah, I'm I'm about four episodes in Kat Dennings and uh Beth Bears. I can't remember the blonde woman's name. Yeah, that's her name. But uh yeah, yeah, Kat Dennings is hilarious. She's funny, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There was a there was uh one line was this, and you could see it must have took six or seven takes because even on the one that they got, they were like trying not to go. The line was this, she goes, because our she's her ex-boyfriend came in, they're billionaires, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I can't remember how she loses her money or bad.

SPEAKER_01

Her dad got it embezzled it all, and he went to prison, they took everything and she owned nothing. She has to find a roommate and stuff, yeah. Yeah, just right. Yeah. So she goes, you know, he's uh it's it's because they made some money at this uh local event they were selling their cupcakes.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, the cupcakes, that's right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and she goes, you know, it's about time that I I throw my wad in his face. He's been doing it in my face for years. Yeah, and you can see the two of them like this. Yeah, like trying, like, I mean, how many times did you have to do that one? But there's a couple of lines where they say something and they won't even look at each other, like because they can't. But yeah, it's well written. So good on you, Whitney, and uh whoever the other dude's name is. Yeah, I like it. It's pretty funny.

Snowstorm Forecast And Winter Driving

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, no, it was good. I remember watching. I I think uh I think I got tired of it after a while because it's like all any of those shows they become a lot of zingers, and then they got this guy in the back from Ukraine, I think.

SPEAKER_01

The cook with the thing, and he's always making sexual interests. Yeah, and the young guy Han that owns the place, he's like a three-foot-tall Chinese dude, and they make fun of him all the time. Yeah, call him a Chinese leprechaun. Yeah, I can't remember, but I see. Oh, it's just that the writers are just zing zing zing, one after another man.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I can't. That was over I think mom was the other show that was out around the same time as that. There's uh I can't remember.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know, mom. This was like in 2011 or something.

SPEAKER_02

Anna Ferris uh is in it.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I would guess this is where Whitney made all her money. Millions from that, I'm sure.

SPEAKER_02

She had another show as well, didn't she? Uh she was in one called The Bitch from In her own show? Yeah, yeah, she had her own show. I can't remember. It's called The Bitch from 103 or something. I can't remember.

SPEAKER_01

Well, she's married now with a kid, so good for her. Oh, yeah. But uh anyway, but Eric does a podcast too, I think. Oh, they all do, yeah. Well, they all do. You're right, they all do. Yeah. Uh who's doing that? Who's doing that shit, right? Yeah. He made me. Yeah. So there's a guy right there like this. Keep talking. We'd never paid the bills. Um, that's right. Eric von Danegan. Uh, just so happens when I was a young.

SPEAKER_02

It took us that long to get back to that name.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I know, but I did get back to it because hey man, my brain's still good, right, Dave? So where am I? Why are you guys in my bedroom? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, Eric von Danaghen. Uh, I read his book called Chariots of the Gods. Okay. And the book was about that he said, like, there's ancient aliens came here. You know, there's now proof of it. He's well, he's right. Now they've proved him, right? That all this stuff showed up. And he was like, they they sh they went over him up one side down the other in his book. And he goes, No, no, no, read my book. He says, There are question marks. I didn't make statements. So I'm asking these questions. Sure. You know, well, where did this come from? Where did the pyramids come? Where do the anyway just passed away? He was like 90 or something. He was like the forefrunter guy for uh uh basically ancient alien theory that's now a known theory and not a conspiracy anymore. But he was like a worked in a Swiss hotel, you know, was a was a Catholic fella, yeah, you know, and uh really brought it to the forefront. I just saw he passed away, but he was a big deal. Yeah, he actually read his book. Okay, yeah, yeah. And he was became famous and actually got put in jail for something too, like because they were after him. Yeah, I was a whole thing anyway. I think so. So yeah, check it out if you're an ancient alien fan, Techo'd uh Chariots of the Gods and all his stuff that came along with that.

SPEAKER_02

But yeah, National Geographic, I think, has like a show called Ancient Aliens now, or somebody does.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, the that's on TV, you can see it now. Yeah, it's called uh Aliens Origins or something, but he's always on the show, they have him as a guest stuff, but he passed away, Swiss guy.

SPEAKER_02

But I think I'd recognize him then if I saw him then. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I think you would for sure. Yep. Would for sure. But uh yeah, so we got uh a snowstorm coming, like a real snowstorm coming.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

Halifax Oval, Kids On Ice, And City Vibes

SPEAKER_01

So they say anywhere depending. Now, where we are right now in the studio, it's very the water's right there. What is that? The Bay of Fundy, what is it?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic Ocean, it's right there.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like literally, you can throw a rock. So you're not gonna get much, but as you go deep out into where I am, you know, it gets more and more and more and more. Gonna be a lot of snow tomorrow. It's gonna make it.

SPEAKER_02

It could be a messy day tomorrow. Especially if it's a mix of uh rain and snow, it's gonna make a sleet, they call that. Yeah, yeah. So if we get that, so and no matter what, even if if we get like the 15-20 centimeters here that they're calling for, it's gonna be wet, heavy snow, so it's gonna be a pain in the ass. It'll be gross shovel tomorrow, right? Yeah, and it'll be, yeah, I like if it's if it's that bad. And then when it freezes, man. I'll work from home tomorrow. Yeah, yeah. But the temperature's supposed to stay just above zero, right? It's gonna be two, three degrees every day for the next like two or three days here.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm okay with that. Yeah, I really don't want to drive in the snow.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, there's one night where I think it's gonna drop down to minus ten, but we'll see.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the weather's nuts, it was ten degrees yellow there.

SPEAKER_02

I know, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you know, but like I said, I don't want to drive in the snow.

SPEAKER_02

It's been, I mean, it was like I told you, it was the coldest December we've had since since I've been home. So it's been 11 years, yeah. And January's been crazy miles. Like it's been it's been nuts, right? Like we had what, eight, nine degrees just a couple of days ago.

SPEAKER_01

A lot of people I talked to around, you'll say the same thing. I didn't mention it to you, but you'll say the same thing. Said, oh yeah, well, you know, you gotta be careful. February and March could be shit too. It could be.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, oh yeah. No. That's already made an appointment against the biggest. That would come down for the AUS Did you? Oh, I wouldn't. End of March. Oh, I don't usually do mine until like end of April, early May. Oh. We'll let you know how that goes. Yeah. It just because you just never know, right?

SPEAKER_01

So I figured end of March we're good.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you should be, but it's still we've still had some snow hit us, like, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I have to hit that traction control button. That's it. Yeah. I got two of those. I got a traction control and a snow button.

SPEAKER_02

But every year dad would come down for the uh AAU's to turn out. Yeah, you had two Metro Center. It used to be in March. And uh March Mad always never failed that when he came, there was always a snowstorm.

SPEAKER_01

There you go. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

March.

SPEAKER_01

So I mean, you know, when I was in high school, we skied into March.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we had you had uh the March Madness up at the ski hill up where I was from. Everything was melting.

Pothole Plague And Car Damage War Stories

SPEAKER_01

Well, and you have to ski across the ponds. You have to ski across the pond. Try to, because people are so stupid. Lean forward. No, that's not.

SPEAKER_02

Everything would melt and be at the bottom of the hill and you'd come back. Yeah, barreling down, and people wearing like bikinis and shorts and tank tops. They'd have the canoe, they'd put the canoes on the snow and have the canoe race down the hill. Yeah, good old. It was a lot of fun.

SPEAKER_01

You know what I saw the other day? I was downtown Halifax. Don't ask me why, I can't remember. Hookers. What? And uh there's a skate rink in the middle of the city, bro.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, at the oval.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't know what oh, oh, they must have built that for Candy Games or something.

SPEAKER_02

Uh oh God, I don't know. It's been there's been here. It's been there for ages, right? Like, that's awesome, man.

SPEAKER_01

There were so many kids on that. I was like, that's great.

SPEAKER_02

Uh the like a roller rink, or not a roller rink, whatever it's called. Like, you know, that people like go out and they uh they roller skate in the summer, and then in the winter time they turn it into an ice rink, right? Okay.

SPEAKER_01

When when our uh tech guy gets back from the Iranian protests, we're gonna get a couple hockey sticks. We're gonna go on and see if they kick us off. Yeah, I don't think you can go out. We're gonna play hockey on it, get a couple of our boys. You're gonna see this on the internet. Yeah, they definitely won't let you on with hockey sticks. Yeah, we know security guys, I'll slide them a fiver. It's like the weekend to be I I don't know. Dude, it was bananas. This was a weekday. Yeah, I was gonna say I was like, holy, anybody go to school? Yeah, that's true. I didn't even know it was there. I was like, that's pretty cool. Yeah, no, it's popular. By the way, nobody does.

SPEAKER_02

A lot of people with kids were talking about they wanted to get out here soon and get their kids out on it, right?

SPEAKER_01

So well, Mike, if uh if you're gonna go get your kids onto it, good luck with the potholes. My car's in one right now, it's just buried. We have to go get a tow truck, get it out. Oh, it's bad, man. Yeah, there's so many potholes. And if you don't know what Nova Scotia does, we put an orange cone in it. It's called Luka Doncic.

SPEAKER_02

That's right.

SPEAKER_01

The Luka Doncic way to deal with it the Luka Doncic way, the road cone.

SPEAKER_02

It is, yeah, it's pretty defense. Oh, yeah, that's bad around the state. It's like I said, it's green. It's bad across the country right now, but it's bad here. There's there's been there was there was one, I think I was telling you, there's one down by where my wife works where I'd pick her up or drive her or drop her off whatever way, and no matter which way I tried to go around it, I still hit it. It was that big. And it's like every single time you're like, and you're going so slow, but you're still like, ugh. So a few years ago, when I first moved home, I remember driving through and I hit one going at a good speed and popped the tire. And I had to go change the tire. This is their eight, this was right in front of the hospital. It was horrible, right?

SPEAKER_01

You're gonna laugh because when I when I bought my new car, the guy goes, We have pothole insurance or something that comes with the thing. I'm like, what? He goes, Yeah, for the rims in your car because they're so soft. I went, Yep, check that box, bro. I said, for sure. I said, I don't even know if there's any potholes yet. The day I bought the car, I'm like, check that box. That was uh that car I bought off you years ago.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like it hit a pothole and did a number on the uh on the rim, had to get new rims because it bent it bent them so bad.

SPEAKER_01

If you hit anything, you're screwed. It doesn't these this isn't like a pothole, it's like a little deep. Like you're gonna like some of these are your car's gonna bottom out.

SPEAKER_02

Like well, there's I don't know where it is. There's one of the on ramps onto the highway uh where I was telling you that they said there was one more, and it was like there's six cars lined up because all of them have hit that pothole and done some damage to their vehicle, right? So there is a way. I don't I haven't done it. There is a way to go after the city to try and recover your the cost.

SPEAKER_01

Well, somebody must be doing that because it can be your rim, it can be your axle, it could be your tie rods.

SPEAKER_02

There's so many things in there, man. If it's one that's been reported and they haven't done anything about it, I think that's when you're eligible. But if it's one that hasn't been reported yet, you might be a little more shit out of the luck, right? So you are.

SPEAKER_01

Well, there's no way that one you're talking about hasn't been reported. It has to have been reported, right? Like, that's six cars in one day?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Unreal, man.

SPEAKER_02

They they patch the one up by the the the one that I was talking about down by where my wife works. Like they they patched, there's two of them there where I told you they had the cones in there for probably like about three days, and then they they finally patched those up because they were bad.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you know what's odd? When I first got my car, you know, I drove it everywhere because I'm going to test it out and stuff. And I drove up to the subdivision to turn around and come back. There's a pothole the size of, you know, like huge.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And they they spray painted orange around it. And I took a picture of it, put it on my Instagram. And I go, This is how we take care of potholes in Nova Scotia. Get like 5,000 views. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And they're like, what? I go, yeah, they just look, here's one, be careful. It don't fix them. It's still there. It's still there. That was in July.

SPEAKER_02

That's craziness, man. Still there.

SPEAKER_01

And I mean, it's not huge. Well, it might be huge now. Yeah, yeah. But it's still to get the painter.

SPEAKER_02

Well, this freeze-thaw, freeze-thaw thing that's going on. That's what's killing it. And then when they do a shit patch job, oh, yeah. This is this is what happens, right? You end up with these horrible, horrible potholes. And there's some bad ones, man, where you hit them and you're just like, Oh God, I know I've just probably put my wheels out of a line. I hit one the other day. At least I put my wheels out of a line.

Reading On The Go And Audiobooks

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I hit it the other day when I just swore I'm like, suck. It's like, man. And it was like, then I got on the highway and I'm like, don't shake, don't shake. I'm like, okay, then you turn, I turn the music off. I'm like lifting. Yeah, and I'm like, I just hold it with two fingers to see if she's wobbling at all. I'm like, all right, loaf out. I started to get up about 1.40. I'm like, okay, she's good. Yeah. I mean, one twelve. Winter driving in Canada, right? Yeah. Anyway, yeah, I'm so happy about that. Yay. Yeah. So I saw the coolest thing, Mike. So I'm driving the old highway coming in, and there was an older lady. Uh well, it could be my age. There was a lady walking down. I can't say that anyone. I know. It was a lady walking down the street. She had her glasses down like this, right? You know?

SPEAKER_02

I know I get that all the time when I say, oh, a younger person, you're like, Mike, you're old. Like, everybody's younger, right? It's like, yeah, that's fair enough. Yeah. Shut up.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, she had her glasses down like this, and she's walking along the sidewalk and she's reading a book. Oh, yeah. And I was like, big smile on my face. I'm like, when is the last time anybody has ever seen that?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, walking around carrying a room.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know what she was reading. Maybe the Bible. I don't know. Yeah. You know, or the the what's what's the book used to be the TV guide? How to get away with murder. Yeah. That too, you know, depending. But uh yeah, but it was just like just made me smile because I'm thinking, yeah, well, not everybody's, you know, on the phone. Dude, I see people walking their dogs, like, you know, like scrolling, and then the dog wants to stop repeating, they keep walking and pulling up. Yeah. Dog's like, come on, man, get off. Damn, stop doom scrolling. It got me the other day again, son of a bitch, bro. But if I had more money, I would throw those phones against the wall every time I get to. Like I was doing something, I was like, I want to know the answer to that. And then I was like, okay. 45, what? 45 minutes later. I'm like, what was I even doing? Like I literally threw it on the other sofa. Yeah, yeah. Just like, oh yeah, anyway. Nightmare.

SPEAKER_02

How did I hand up on Pornhub?

SPEAKER_01

That song. Yeah, no, I can't remember what I was looking for. I was looking for something. And it just, you know, you get down the rabbit holes and it just keeps going. And it's just, hey, buddy. It just keeps going. But yeah, good on that lady for the first time. Yeah, good on her. Um, my wife loves to read, man.

SPEAKER_02

She goes, like she's just sits. She sits in her chair, but she just sits in her chair by the fireplace and just reads, reads, reads, right? So yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Audio books for me, baby.

SPEAKER_02

I actually you know what? I always thought, I never thought I'd like audiobooks. Because I tried them a couple of times. Like, I don't like this. I find my attention spans bad. But when I started, what I started doing was putting them on in the car. And I find like then I can, you know, it's like you you don't, I don't get overly distracted because I'm driving, but then I don't get distracted by the uh by the too distracted by the book, so I can actually follow along on the story. It's like, oh, this is actually quite good. And people do it with podcasts too, right?

SPEAKER_01

Instead of instead of like listening to the but I just because my eyes aren't so good, reading a little for a long time gets me, especially even when I'm on the computer too. Yeah, yeah. Audio's the way to go for me now.

Fitness, Aging, And Staying Mobile

SPEAKER_02

Well, the audiobooks I can go just lay in the bed, put the earphones in and put the audiobook on. Like with a book, if if I was going in after the you know, if my wife's already been asleep, I'd just come out and lay on the couch and read and I'd pass out almost all the time. Wake up and the books beyond my chest. I'm like, damn it.

Police Shooting On Quinpool: What Happened

SPEAKER_01

Well, she's reading those uh romance novels with Fabio on the show. No god, no, she doesn't read that shit. She reads like uh nuclear physics books just so she can have conversations. Yeah, anyway. Yeah, good luck with that one. Yeah. Oh, I ran into my uh cousin. Uh, we don't want to say names. He were uh he's the manager of one of the high-end uh grocery stores around town. And he's got two two uh twin twin kids, and uh you know, we were just talking about age, like you know, he just turned 50 and stuff. And I'm like, think about when when we were uh kids, somebody 50 had one foot in the grave, right? You know, because he's worried about he wants to lose some weight, he wants to be a little thinner, you know, wants to be around for the kids and this and that stuff. Well I don't blame him, you know. But yeah, I said, You're doing all right. Here's the joke, that's why I'm saying it. He goes, uh he goes, I said, you know, you gotta get into yoga. So as you get older, you get up your protein a little bit, you know, the usual stuff. And I said, I said, yoga's been helping me. I said, because he's asking me about my back. I said, back's quite a bit better, doing all my stretches and getting the line back up, right? And then uh I go, I go, yoga. He goes, I can't even touch my toes. And then I go, at least you can see them. And he goes, Yeah, because a lot of guys over 50, you know, can't see their toes. So you know he's working hard, but you know, he's got a hard job to work around it too, right? Yeah, yeah. Try to lose weight, but you know, two young kids is also uh you better have some energy, boy. Better have some energy. So him and his wife are both athletes, too, right? So yeah, yeah, good on him. So, you know, good luck to you, girl, a man. They get you going there. Yeah. But uh, you were saying about uh one of the Halifax police shot somebody.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so I was going did he die? Uh no, but I think he's in seriously. Critical conditions? Yeah, seriously. Serious or critical condition.

SPEAKER_01

All right, you want to tell the story about this?

SPEAKER_02

Well, I mean, I I like I said, I was going to pick up my wife last week. I have an alibi and saw a whole chunk of Quinpool blocked off, and I was like, what the hell's going on? So when we got home and looked it up, and sounds like somebody robbed the liquor store at one spot, and then about an hour later went to the Quinpool liquor store and robbed there, and then the cops got called and they kind of caught him on Quinpool. They tried tasing them, it didn't do anything to them. Yeah, that's crazy. And he came, he was coming at them with a big knife, and so one of the officers shot him. So now it's you know the serious investigation uh unit or whatever it is.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that cop will be on a desk for about six months. Yeah. Right. Well, I mean, still, like, yeah, like hopefully it was a legit shoe.

SPEAKER_02

But even, you know, from from from a mental standpoint, right?

SPEAKER_01

Well, at least the guy's not dead, that's why I was asking, because that'd screw you up, too. Yeah, it's screw you up, yeah. You gotta go see the shrink forever, but yeah. Yeah, I mean, you don't hear about you know coppers pulling their guns too often around town. Not around here, God no. No. So, I mean, we don't know how big the dude was. I didn't read it, but if he was a big dude and the taser doesn't work, which the taser doesn't work if you're on high-level drugs, you literally I watch dudes like this pull them out and go after the cop, like uh-oh. Yeah, I know, right? Yeah, then what do you do, right? This is a true story. I don't want to say names, but back in the day when there was a gym on Quinnpool Road, me and my training partner at the time would go there, and that that gym was full of criminals and police. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

The oh the one on Quinpool right by the old McDonald's right by the old McDonald's.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, don't don't don't say but yeah, so you know, so we knew criminals and we knew cops, all good people when you're in the gym. Yeah, but you know, it was kind of funny. So anyway, this one dude, big dude, like and I say big, he was like six eight, bro. Okay, he's he's squatting, and the only guy that's big enough in the gym is this cop who's 300 pounds. Oh yeah, big dude. So you know, spotting him in these, I can't remember squatting, Mike, 500 or something stupid, right? This these these guys were all Mexican supplemented out there, yeah, yeah, sure, yeah. Including the police back in the day. Yeah, yeah. Right. So anyway, so we were just watching, we're just kids, and we're just watching, you know, we're young fellas, like early 20, maybe even 19. And uh, we're watching them do that, and it was just a maniac, and you know, nobody's I've never seen anybody work that kind of weight, you know. Yeah, yeah. So anyway, uh big dude walks away, cop comes and sits by us, and I look at him and I go, Hey, I said, you know, I said, what do you do? You know, when a guy like that comes after you, and the cop looks right at me and what buddy, and he goes, Well, uh, in the service revolver, there's 15 shots. He goes, I'll put 14 in him. If that don't stop him, there's one left for me. Jesus. I'm like, that's about all you can do. And he goes, Oh, yeah. He goes, I don't know what you would do if he ever came after. Yeah, yeah. Because Mike, he was fucking huge.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

Gym Legends, Cops, And Urban Lore

SPEAKER_01

Huge and angry and full of steroids and strong, yeah, and just a monster. Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah. He also told me the craziest story I've ever heard in my life, bro. Just he told me this. We're just sitting there, this is a different day. He goes, You know, boys, you know the best way to get rid of a body? This is a true story. And we're like, what? He goes, Yeah, what you do is you cut it up into pieces, you put it in a barrel, you fill it full of cement, weld the barrel, you take it out in the harbor and dump it. Me and the other dude are just like, Okay, man. Jesus, man. Yeah, okay, bro. Like, what? So we get you know, we get out, we walk into our car, I go, how many barrels do you think are in the harbor? Yeah, no shit, right? Yeah, he's I don't know. Yeah, no, this is this is the gym we're yeah, that's crazy. Had everybody, right? Yeah, yeah. So back in the 80s, 90s. Right, it was crazy. Yeah, it was crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's nuts, man.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, so yeah, so they shot uh shot that dude, hey, like you don't hear that too often.

SPEAKER_02

No, so but now like that's the thing, right? They'll investigate it now, and so we'll see what happens.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, you know, so that's I mean, if he was coming out the guy with a knife, that's a legit shoot, I guess.

SPEAKER_02

You know, that's what I said. Like who cased him and it didn't do anything, right? That's that's kind of scary too, right?

SPEAKER_01

That is crazy. Yeah. Oh, by the way, I I saw something the other day. Oh, the the ice agent that got hit with the car had internal bleeding in the hospital.

SPEAKER_02

They told they called it what did they call it?

SPEAKER_01

Really? Yeah, really? Did he have a nosebleed? Are you kidding me?

SPEAKER_02

Because essentially, like it sounded like he had a bruise.

SPEAKER_01

100% correct. 100% a lie. Oh, giant hematoma can barely live. Internal breeding, it's called a bruise. It's called a bruise, yeah. See how they word shit, man? Like, that's so it bothers me so much. I know, right? Yeah, oh, you guys are disgusting. The mainstream news. Watch us.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's right.

SPEAKER_01

Right? Like for real, right? Anyway. All right, basketball. Ant. Good job, bro. I like Ant. Yeah, I didn't see this. You were telling me this.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't even notice that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh they went back and forth the whole game. Ant got uh, what is it, 54 or 55? Wimby's about 39, as he should be. And uh, guess what? Ant, they still lost.

SPEAKER_02

The Minnesota lost.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah. Well, Minnesota, I think Minnesota's so San Antonio's two, but I think Minnesota's like three or four. They're right there.

SPEAKER_01

They're right there.

SPEAKER_02

I think Denver still might be three, and then Minnesota might be.

SPEAKER_01

But I mean, let's be honest, how many times you see somebody score 55 and the team loses? Quite a bit. Happens more than you think.

SPEAKER_02

That happens more than you think because uh, you know, on games like that, uh, I'd have to look at the efficiency, I guess, right? So I didn't see the stat. Right? So if he's if he's jacking up 30-something shots to get his 55, well then other people aren't getting involved in the game.

SPEAKER_01

You know what? I should have looked this up. I saw this and like dropped in my feed too. Some kid at Arizona State or one of these high school, he scored 100 points in three quarters.

SPEAKER_02

Oh shit, eh?

SPEAKER_01

100 points in three quarters. Crazy. And the the his whole team scored nine. Oh, Jesus. Yeah, so it was 109 to whatever the team was. And when I say they played a team, they played like you, me, and three guys from the stands and your mother.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Right? Like the score was like 109 to like 40 or something. Yeah, brutal, yeah. Yeah, brutal. But yeah, he's got the like the Will Chamberlain.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, three quarters. Like, what happened to the fourth quarter? Yeah, coach said, we're gonna give somebody else a chance.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we thought the game was safe by then. We were only up, we were up by 60 by then, right?

SPEAKER_01

100.

SPEAKER_02

That's crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Like what? Yeah, yeah, anyway. Yeah, I saw Wemby's uh Wimby shaved his head.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, um, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I can't see that far, huh? I think they lost uh I don't know why. I have to look at I uh I don't know why he did it, but him and one of the other guys on the team both shaved their heads. They lost a game to Milwaukee.

SPEAKER_01

Well, maybe it was a bet.

SPEAKER_02

It might have been, yeah. It'd be interesting to see. But anyway, it looks good on him.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the first time I ever heard about somebody shaving their head to start over again was when I was working in the Middle East and this South African's husband passed away. He just he was in the chair and just died in the morning. She got up and he's dead and doing work. His eyes were black, apparently had an aneurysm and just passed away. Yeah, we had to go to the funeral. But uh, she was South African long, long hair and shaved her head. Oh yeah. And they go, that's what we do. You start over again. Start over. Oh, interesting. And then since then I've heard it a bunch of times, but I didn't probably a bet, you know, it's basketball.

SPEAKER_02

Probably a bet, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Unless somebody passed away in the family, then it could have been a thing. Yeah, yeah.

NBA Night: Ant vs. Wemby And Scoring Efficiency

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but like I said, there were two of them, I think, on the team that did it. So that's why I thought maybe it is a bet, or maybe it was something they decided to do after they lost. Who knows?

SPEAKER_01

I saw that commercial with that white boy again for Gillette shaven. Remember, I told you about this? Yeah. So he's like the there's no, he has no beard. And why is he talking to Tracy McGrady? I don't know. Dude, for real, like what Tracy McGrady's what, 50 years old? They didn't play. Right? Tracy McGrady face nothing.

SPEAKER_02

But McGrady McGrady did sign a, I think he might he was doing Gillette when he was in the league. Oh, that's well. Okay, I didn't know that too.

SPEAKER_01

Because I'm like, why is Tracy McGrady talking to the free?

SPEAKER_02

He's probably been a spokesperson for them for a long time.

SPEAKER_01

And he goes, Tracy McGrady, why are you shaving, bro? He goes, uh, it's practice. He goes, My game face doesn't take days off. No, sure. And I'm like, you don't even have you have peach fuzz. Put some milk on it, get a cat to lick it off your face. Yeah, like, yeah. Um Mike, I'm telling you, it's the worst possible commercial for Gillette Chang. He is has no beard.

unknown

Yeah right?

SPEAKER_01

It's not like back in the day when Z Z Top is offering a million bucks each to shave the beard off on live TV, which they all said no to. They all said no to, yeah. Yeah, well, whatever. Yeah, they don't need the money, right? No, they didn't. They don't. No. You know who needs money? Lakers. We need some players. Where's the defense?

SPEAKER_02

That's what I saw. Something the other day that said they they they focused all their energy on getting the offense right, which they did.

SPEAKER_01

They did.

SPEAKER_02

And at the at the expense of their defense. And so now, because of the injuries, when their offense is humming and they got everybody there, they're just outscoring people.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

But now you're gonna win without that. And and listen, man, I'll I'll say it. LeBron's it's he's still doing pretty impressive for somebody that's 41 years old and 20 years, but I find it's definitely showing that. Like definitely showing this year, right? You can see it. He can't he just can't shoulder that load like he used to for sure, right? So is this his last year? Is this it? I don't know, man. We'll see. Is this it? He's I I'm assuming he's got something in mind that he wants to get done. There's some record he wants to break. Uh that's left. Uh games played, maybe.

SPEAKER_01

How about Page's red and Malcolm X's uh biography?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Did you patch page one?

SPEAKER_02

Maybe he wants to get uh somewhere with the assists. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Like I just saw a stat the other day. This will probably blow your mind. LeBron James has the most points for a son.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I saw that.

SPEAKER_01

A father's sister.

SPEAKER_02

And Dallas and Steph Curry are second, I think.

Lakers’ Defensive Slide And Trade Math

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but what's funny is like Bronny James is like 90 points. Yeah. Whereas is Steph Curry and his dads are almost equal. Yeah. This was like 42,790. Like, way to go, pop. But you know what? Bronny James will be in the record book for the rest of his life because of that. Yeah, most most points by father's unduo. Father's unduo, yeah. So when they're older and you know, LeBron passed away, it was like, hey, granddad, was that you? Yeah, it was no great grandfather. Yeah, yeah, that's right. Yeah. Oh, speaking of that, I just saw something savagely badass. A dude passed away. Okay, that's not good, but that's not what it has the story. Sure. Uh a dude passed away in like the 1920s or something. And he in his will, he had so much money, whatever it was, and he goes, it goes to the however many generations. Okay. Okay. So anyway, the generation just came up to this time when uh the money's and it's like well over a hundred and some million dollars because it had interest all right. Right, sure, yeah. So like, woo-hoo, they may know the guy. Yeah, all of a sudden it's like these kids have like, wow, can you imagine not even knowing that your great great great great great granddad put away, you know, like uh six dollars in silver and Netflix?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and how that gets it would be interesting to see like how that family tree has evolved to like is it like that whole line of uh you know uh offspring or whatever that now get a piece of that money, right?

SPEAKER_01

So it could be divvyed up between like no no no no it's like so if you and me are the grandkids, it's ours. Like if we're the la the two for like you know, whenever that the will came due, it only goes to like the two, not not spread. So, like, do you understand? There's only two grandkids, whoever they are, like for the what what he's given it to. So they can spread it, I guess. Yeah, yeah. Okay, like brother, sister, they each get it and you can give it to your kids if you want, but it's that oh okay, I guess.

SPEAKER_02

Are you with me? Yeah, sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I thought you meant like he was like, okay, for my money's gonna sit here for the next six generations, and when that sixth generation comes up, that'll go to the grandkids, and then by then, you know, if he's had kids and then they've had kids and then they've had kids and they've had kids, that grandkid lying. Yeah, that's right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but still, who would who would think of to do that? Yeah, like pretty intelligent, right? Yeah, he's sleeping there. Oh, yeah, he's a sound asleep. Sound asleep.

SPEAKER_02

She's asleep over there, too. So I didn't even see that one. Told you they would c they would finally they would eventually calm down.

SPEAKER_01

Have they ever seen a dog like that giant one that's walking by the house right now? Have they ever seen a dog?

SPEAKER_02

That they yeah, oh yeah, our uh in-laws came up, they brought their dog up and like yeah, these these guys were what, like not even a week, they were didn't even have them a week yet, and the dog was already here and they were right up sniffing the dog. And it's a good dog, a well-behaved dog, right? So they weren't too scared, right? So yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I also saw that JJ's like he goes, What's with the memories? I got in that he's he goes, I write up the play, I tell them the play, they walk into the floor and they don't do the play. He goes, I walk on the floor, I remember what the play is because I'm listening. Like, what's the hell?

SPEAKER_02

He was real mad, right? Yeah, he'd be mad, yeah. And and it's again, like I think what it is is like anything I've like when I look at them and you can see they're just they're just not communicating. There's something missing on that defensive end. Like, and so I was trying to read up on it to see where the issue is, and essentially the issue starts right at that like on the ball defender. So like they're not good at staying in front of especially quick guards. So speed they can't handle and aggressive, uh, and and and like aggressive play they can't handle. So they like their guards getting full.

SPEAKER_01

So if you're falling down, you're gonna end up playing San Antonio playoffs.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, well right now they're right now they're like I said, I think right now they're six, they've dropped all the way to six from second to six now. So, and and one more loss, and they're gonna be into the playing pool. But so they're their guards are getting beat, or even their forwards, like LeBron can't, they don't have the lateral quickness, so that they're getting beat right off the bat, which creates rotations right off the bat.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, a giant.

SPEAKER_02

And they're not communicating, so they're not rotating quick enough, they're not like switching quick enough, they don't they can't fight through screens, quick screens quick enough. And so anyway, so that first that first defend defender gets beat and it puts everything out of rotation right off the bat, and they're getting exploited like crazy, which if you're playing in a playoff series, that's exactly what teams will do. They will hunt you to create those mismatches, create that chaos. And so that's where they need to improve. Is they need to be. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Has has LA played San Antonio this year yet?

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, they lost to them.

SPEAKER_01

Uh was Wimby playing?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I think they've I think they've beat them in. I think I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't see the game, but I just keep thinking Rudy Gobert owned the Lakers. Wimby gonna own you too.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's gonna be a problem.

SPEAKER_02

Well, that's what against Charlotte the other day where they got beat like by like 30 points. What? Well, it's apparently they said you got young, quick. Oh, sorry, buddy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they are quick though.

SPEAKER_02

Charlotte is quick. Quick, aggressive players, right? And that's what happens. It's the same thing how Portland just beat them, right? Like, even though both of course Austin Reeves hasn't played for a while, and Luca didn't play last night against Portland, right?

SPEAKER_01

So the whole rhythm's off because they were working so well together, the injuries. That rhythm can come back for the playoffs. There still could be problems.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I think that's what they say too, right? That the the the communication is is not it's an issue, but it's also from a lack of consistency with the with the team. And that happens. It's better to happen now than at the end. Like I think I saw last night. Austin was out, Luca was out, DeAndre Eight was out, Jackson Hayes was out. So it's like that's three of your five starters. Yeah, so like yeah, so it's so it's LeBron the whole team's smart the ball boy.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

The ball boy, right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and that that uh their whatever that lady is that's been with them forever that keeps wearing a mask for six years straight.

SPEAKER_00

I have no idea.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, she's on the bench still wearing a mask. Like, can you fire her? Make her eat it or something, you know. That's a badge of stupidity. Yeah. But anyway, yeah, you're right. Who do the Lakers got? What? I have no idea, man. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. But the injuries are bad, man. Everywhere.

SPEAKER_01

And of course, I saw it again.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, 80's gonna get. Well, I mean, here's the thing.

Championship Fatigue, Injuries, And Playoff Reality

SPEAKER_01

Told you Atlanta wants them.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's the thing. Is what are they gonna give up for them? And then so Dallas is gonna have to actually probably have to take less. Like same with Trey. Like, got an aging CJ McCullum, and then I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't even know the other guy's name. Sorry, bro. Sorry, bro. But like, you know what I mean? Aging CJ McCollum.

SPEAKER_02

Because everybody's like, yeah, listen, we'll take him, but he's not a high priority target, right? He's he's a defensive liability. A D is an injury-prone player.

SPEAKER_01

We we shit on A D when he's injured, but when he's on the floor, man, he's so good. So good. Yeah. So good. Like, but he just can't stay on the club. You're missing out. Like the man could have been an all time great, yeah, but just can't. He was one of the top seventy five players, right? Look at him beat now. Beat doesn't even show up in the game. He's playing, but you don't even know he's on the floor.

SPEAKER_02

I think I watched some highlights I saw some highlights the other day. Uh but he dunked right over there. Somebody dunked on him, and I was like, I was like, oh. Somebody dunked on him, and I was like, oh shit, I forgot. I didn't even realize he was playing. I thought he was in there, right?

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. And then it looked bad. Yeah. Yeah. What was the guy that just showed dunked on four dudes? Uh somebody from Orlando, I don't know. Oh, yeah, it was crazy. Where did all the hands come from? Went right through the middle. I'm like, that best poster ever. That's a good poster. Better go up on your pants.

SPEAKER_02

That's going to be up on his wall. Oh, yeah. Him dunking and the four guys around him for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Showing the kids, look at your pop did back in the day. Back in the day, look what I did. Oh, yeah, man, 100%.

SPEAKER_02

100%. But yes, it'll be interesting to see if they like because Dallas is definitely. I mean, so right now we know 80s on the block. Like a short, of course, Dallas really wants something. If if somebody's willing to give up something for him, uh John Morant, we said his days in Memphis are numbered. He's going to be. But again, same kind of thing. Like, who wants that kind of like disruptive uh personality in their locker room? So Memphis, yeah. What is Memphis going to take for him, right? And then um I I heard Rich Paul went on uh uh Rich Paul went on a podcast the other day and like essentially said they should trade trade Reeves now while he's valuable and get like some get what they need on their defensive end or whatever, right? No. It's well it's but he's like their most tradable asset, probably, right?

SPEAKER_01

Well they've been talking about that forever, but they really like Reeves.

SPEAKER_02

They love Reeves, but here's the thing it's like the problem part of the problem with the Lakers right now is they've got they're up they're they're straddling the two different mindsets win now with LeBron or build around uh Luca. So the thing is is AD's gonna demand max salary here soon. They can't give max salary to two players, it really limits what you can do. So do they do they start building now around Luca, trade AD to get some pieces to build around Luca and say, fuck it, we're not winning now.

SPEAKER_01

No, AD's with Dallas.

SPEAKER_02

Or sorry, uh Austin Reeves, AR. Um or do they, you know, do they do they trade Reeves now and get the win now pieces to give LeBron one more one more shot at a championship?

SPEAKER_01

Here's how you find out what LeBron's doing. If LeBron's retiring this year, they trade Reeves.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it could be. Could be if they get if they do the win now because he is see the Lakers Lakers got new management. Maybe they're not gonna be like, hey, listen, we're not sacrificing the we're not sacrificing the future to just win one to to maybe win. Maybe maybe win this year, right? Yeah. Who knows, man?

SPEAKER_01

Who knows, man? Stuff behind the scenes you never hear. We never know.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I mean uh, you know, like uh um OKC was off to a historic start, and now like another average. Now they're average, right? Like yeah, yeah. That championship hangover, I think either finally hit them or maybe they've had injuries. I know Shea was out for a few games with a spring.

Grappling Talk: GSP, Chael, And The Buggy Choke

SPEAKER_01

You're gonna get tired. How that how that uh uh Golden State team did that is shocking, really shocking, right? Because you're gonna get tired since you started. If you're playing to win like all the time, like oh okay, I'll give you an example. So, like when somebody's gunning for you, it's hard. Matt Hughes. When Matt Hughes lost to BJ Penn and lost to Belt, Joe Rogan interviewed him. And I remember he said, he he says, Joe Rogan says, How do you feel? He goes, I'm relieved. Yeah he goes, There was so much stress and anxiety being the champion. Everybody's hunting you. He goes, I'm actually relieved, which I can understand.

SPEAKER_02

What's this? Uh not to go off topic here, but there was uh some guy, it's a wrestling, it's like a wrestling kind of, it's like a not UFC, but it's just wrestling. Yep, but actual wrestling. And the guy's like said, Hey man, everybody wants to see you, GSP. Come in and wrestle me. He just beat some other like former UFC fighter.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, well, okay. So we'll start here. Um, I don't know who that is, but GSP was probably one of the best MMA wrestlers of all time.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's why this guy said, like, this is what they want to say.

SPEAKER_01

But but MMA wrestlers, so yeah, not like it didn't wrestle in high school, didn't wrestle in college, none of that. But everybody said, so they brought uh all the top level um Canadian Olympic level wrestlers, and GSP wiped the grammar. Oh, yeah. And the Olympic team says, We want you to come wrestle for us. He goes, No, I make more money in MA. Thanks, though. Yeah, so you don't know who this is? I'd have to go look it up.

SPEAKER_02

I saw it the other day. I was like, Oh, I gotta talk to I gotta talk to Bobby D about this because to figure out like what this is even about. Like, so I don't know if these guys, like they're just like, you know, everybody now they're all playing these fucking boxing matches now to make a bunch of money.

SPEAKER_01

Well, no, there's like new things coming up. So, for instance, uh Chale Sun, and you've probably heard of Chail. Yeah, I heard of Chail Son. Everybody knows the Chail Sunner, right? The biggest mouth and has the best one-liners of everyone. Well, he just fought in a tournament somewhere with this guy named Craig Jones. Okay, Craig Jones is a top-level jujitsu guy, John Donaher, uh guy uh uh uh trained by John Donaher, one of the best jujitsu guys in the world, if not the best by far. Certified genius, was a philosophy professor at Columbia. Sure. And came into jujitsu and just you know. Okay, Chelsea is really, really good at what he does. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Craig Jones gave him a buggy choke in jujitsu. Now I'm not gonna get into it if you're not a jiu jitsu guy. I'll quickly explain it to Mikey D here because he doesn't know all the holes. A buggy choke is one of the most difficult chokes to do. Okay, okay. You don't see it coming, you've never seen it too often. Craig Jones is very long. So he gets him in one shh, oh cold. Out, yeah, done. Okay, all right. So they wake him up, just jail sonn, one of the best guys of all time. So they wake him up, okay, wake him up again. All right, round two, same fucking thing. Buggy choke again, oh cold, interesting twice. And I'm like, Tail, what are you on? Yeah, yeah. Nobody gets choked in the same thing twice.

SPEAKER_02

But Craig Jones is very good. Yeah, but if you also like you can't tell me that if you doesn't matter, if he was out cold and they woke him up and he goes again, like you just been, like, you just had the oxygen deprivation there for a little bit, right? Like your mind, your mind can't be charged.

SPEAKER_01

Well, here's what's funny. When I watched it, the first thing that came to my mind was the uh uh uh Mission Impossible with Tom Cruise and I can't remember the other guy's name, the English fellow. And Tom Cruise drowned, right? Oh, yeah, yeah. And he brought him to life and he goes, give me the keys, I'm gonna drive. He goes, You were just dead. Yeah, yeah. And he slides across the hood and falls on the ground. Yeah, yeah. I know which one you're talking about. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what I thought of when I watched when I watched Shell Sonna, but I'm like, buddy, you get caught in the hardest possible choke that nobody ever gets. I think I might have seen one buggy choke in my entire life watching UFC and everything else. Maybe. Right. One one at least. Yeah. He got caught twice in like five minutes. Jesus, man. And the referee was laughing. Like, what happened? Come on, James. Yeah. I'm gonna find out who that is, George St. Pierre because George St. Pierre is still in shape.

SPEAKER_02

Well, that's what that's so that's what it is. Still in shape. So this guy just beat somebody else. I'll have to we'll have to look it up later. Yeah, so uh we'll maybe if we are if if our IT guy's back, we can throw it up here. What who we are gonna do.

Wrap-Up, Platforms, And Weather Caution

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so right here we'll put up who George St. Pierre or who this guy wants to fight George St. Pierre. I'd be interested to see that because George is trouble man. Yeah, yeah. Well, that's why I think this guy wants to fight. Okay, well, we'll look into that. It's funny I didn't see that. Yeah. Anyway, all right, that's it for us today on uh you would think. Now, once again, Spotify, you can watch or listen. Buzz Sprout, you can watch or listen. YouTube, you can watch or listen. Uh we are also on all the things that Buzz Sprout puts on as well. Uh they have all kinds of things like there's like radio, MS, and all this other stuff. Right? You can also watch it on Coach Bobby's channel, which is called uh Muscle and Fiction. And uh I think we covered everything that we wanted to talk about. I think so, yeah. Yeah, more tech guy's not here.

SPEAKER_02

Usually a little all over the place like we were today, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Can't smell any swarmas or cologne. No. So that's good. Yeah. Right? So, anyway, no more thumbs up. We're doing what now? We're doing the peace. All right, everybody. Watch the snowstorm tomorrow, be careful. Peace.
