Why Booing, Blockbusters, And Bad Weather Collide In Sports
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
The stadium roared, but depending on your feed, you heard a different truth. We open with the Olympic opening ceremony’s most divisive moment—boos captured on international broadcasts and curiously absent on NBC—and pull the thread on how audio mixing, delay culture, and editorial choices shape what fans believe. From there, we move fast across a week that felt engineered for headlines: a brutal Lindsey Vonn crash after pushing through an ACL scare, Canada’s curling surprise and a locked-in women’s hockey squad, and a trade deadline that outshouted Super Bowl week.
On the NBA front, we dig into the record volume of deals and the real drivers behind them. Anthony Davis landing on a rebuilding Wizards team becomes a lens on availability vs. greatness. James Harden’s four-teams-in-five-years odyssey says out loud what most GMs whisper about fit, leverage, and diminishing margins. Boston’s calculated bet on Vucevic hints at a front office that refuses to waste a window, while Porzingis’s high-ceiling, low-availability profile raises the age-old question: how much risk do you take when the bracket is wide open? We also unpack All-Star selections influenced by format math, and what Ja Morant’s muted market says about talent, trust, and timing in a league addicted to potential.
Beyond the box score, we connect other stories of trust and truth. Retailers getting fined for inflated “original” prices echo the same consumer skepticism aimed at curated broadcasts and carefully spun pressers. Misconduct stats inside Canadian policing deepen the theme: institutions earn belief by being transparent when it counts. We finish with a reality check on the bodies that power sport and cinema—why peak physiques on screen are short windows built on discipline, careful fueling, and sacrifices no one can sustain forever. Coaching for longevity beats chasing likes, and aging well means changing the plan, not the goal.

Olympic Booing Controversy
SPEAKER_02Anything else about the Olympics?
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah, that uh How is IC allowed to go over there?
SPEAKER_02That's doesn't make any sense.
SPEAKER_01I still don't really know that whole story, but the uh the one thing was uh Oh, this is a good one. So I saw this, I was reading it this morning that so when the the American team came out, you know, like the intro at the opening ceremony's like, you know, clap and clap.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I think it's similar, you don't have cable.
SPEAKER_01But then they've zoomed to uh yeah, neither do I, but I just saw so anyway, then they kind of like go to JD Vance, the vice president and his wife in the in the stands, and everybody starts booing. Apparently, like starts booing in Italy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So So anyway, so apparently, like um, you know, CBC, BBC, whoever's been whoever was streaming it, you could clearly hear the booing on NBC. Couldn't hear it.
SPEAKER_02Oh, they filter, of course.
SPEAKER_01And NBC saying, we didn't do this, we don't have any control over this. But it's like that's weird that every other broadcasting company broadcasts this live in the booze. You could be clearly here to, you know, who'd you say CBC? NBC who does the Olympics, right? Yeah, yeah. So CBC is doing the doing it here in Canada. Yeah, yeah, always, yeah. Yeah. So anyway, so that was an interesting one. That uh whether that's you know, if it'd be interesting to see what comes out of that, if that's real or not, that they're actually now like they're if they you know uh because remember the NBA games they they they started going to whatever the whatever the delay is, like a five-second delay so that they can catch like any sort of thing. Oh, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02That that all happened back in the Super Bowl with oh, we're on. Okay, hang on. Welcome back to what what welcome back to you would think with uh Bobby D and we already started. Sorry, sorry, too bad. So anyway, yeah, so yeah, remember it was back in the time when the Super Bowl when uh the nip slip. Remember Justin Timberlake? Yeah, right. But they said that was planned, yes, but yeah, but we didn't know at the time, and then they had to have a delay after a tassel on her nipple or whatever, correct it was planned. Of course it was planned. I sent her that tassel, by the way, for Christmas. Yeah, anyway, yeah, they said years later it was planned, but we knew it was planned anyway. Oh, yeah, because it was straight to the words.
SPEAKER_01Well, why would she why would she be wearing tassels on her nipples if it wasn't?
SPEAKER_02Why did she have a tear away bra or a tear away shirt?
SPEAKER_01Well, I think I remember the story was it was always meant to tear away, but it was supposed to show her bra.
SPEAKER_02I was like, uh sure it was. She didn't wear a bra. Or right. Yeah. Anyway. Anyway. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So anyway, so it'd be interesting to see if that's if that's if that's what it is in the states that it was a uh on NBC there.
SPEAKER_02If there's a lot of said the head of NBC, or somebody said, I don't know what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_01Well, I yeah, so again, I have I I just saw the article this morning. I was like, Oh, I want to read about this, and it essentially said that uh yeah, every other broadcasting company around the world that broadcasts this clearly heard people booing uh Vance, the vice president, but in but in the States it didn't show it.
SPEAKER_02So uh didn't show it, it just didn't always be a little bit more.
SPEAKER_01Uncle Donnie wasn't there? No, no, he's still over here dealing with everything.
SPEAKER_02Still over here dealing with everything, whatever he's dealing with, yeah. Good old Orange County fella. Yeah, but uh yeah, so Olympics. So talk about that for a minute. So we started with that. That's crazy. Uh Lindsay Vaughn fell.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, today, yeah.
Broadcast Delays And Censorship
SPEAKER_02The 72-year-old uh 41-year-old.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, 41-year-old. Uh blew her ACL again. Blood or ACL what nine days ago and said, Yeah, I should be good. So I think she did a couple of practice runs, like you said.
SPEAKER_02She probably had this like I told you, you can have a break that will not move. Your leg will not move, but it's still not as stable as it will be if you had you know 100%. So you come out her career's over now for sure. Come around one of those corners.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, at a hundred and how many miles ago? No, right, yeah. So she's again, she's wiped out like hard multiple times.
SPEAKER_02She goes hard, which is that's a concussion every time, don't kid yourself.
SPEAKER_01Well, they airlifted her out. Exactly. So it's bad, it's bad. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_02So but uh we're still in it in the curling so far.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the the the uh next curling is the first time in it.
SPEAKER_02Husband wife, yeah, husband wife. So they get along at home and on the ice. Good for you.
SPEAKER_01They beat the I think it was the Italians who were undefeated in the last like kind of couple. They were undefeated, they did beat them.
SPEAKER_02Yep, yeah, they did, and they were drunk at the time. The Italians, not us. Yeah, yeah, right. Well, we might have been too, no. We might have been too good old canoe.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Canada women won their opener against was it Switzerland for nothing?
SPEAKER_02Uh for the hockey? Yep. Yep, yep. No, that hockey team looks good. There that women's team looks good.
SPEAKER_01Hey, man, so I'm assuming that we'll be seeing the U.S. in the goal in the gold medal game. All right, fingers crossed. All right, finger, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, fingers crossed. Yeah, exactly. Oh, there's well, usual. Yeah, so so well. I mean, we plan on taking home medals, as we said last week. You know, we plan on us. Not us, but Canada. I suppose we can go and steal them. Yeah, yeah, you know, whatever. But yeah, they said at least 10 gold, something like that. That's the that's the you know, the number they want.
SPEAKER_01I think we have the same same number of athletes at this game that we did at the Vancouver games.
SPEAKER_02No, when we had the most medals.
SPEAKER_01When we had the most medals, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Go Canada, like we said. All right. So I'm gonna go with uh 10, 15, and 15. That's my guess. 10 gold, 10 silver, or 15. So yeah, all right, I'm already changing it.
SPEAKER_01You already changed it. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I go 10, 10, 10. Sure.
SPEAKER_01Play it safe. 30.
SPEAKER_02649 tickets.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think we'll be in the 40s. Let's go whether we're gonna be able to get it. Yeah, we'll be in the 40s, I think. I we always, I mean, you know, bronze is usually our strong suit. We come home with a lot of bronze. We're always the third best. There was uh whatever the speed skater, this is her what, her fourth or fifth Olympics, I think they said, and she got she finally got a bronze. Yeah. I wish I knew her name. I believe it. Apologies. I wish I knew your name. Good on you. Like good job. Pretty emotional, I'm sure. This is probably the last Olympics, you know, put a lot of time and effort into it to to you know be top three in the world, man. Pretty good. Yeah, well done. Yeah, top three in the world. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_02But you know what to say? Two is not a winner, and it's three nobody remembers.
SPEAKER_01You're not first, you're last.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, Ricky Bobby, also a good saying. Yeah, right. Yeah, so well, we're gonna get into the basketball now. I actually heard that. I have a cue card. Why?
SPEAKER_01You're 70 years old and you don't have a good memory.
SPEAKER_02What? Yeah, no, there's so many trades. I told Mike, I said, we're gonna look like idiots because we're not gonna know everything that's important. So I jotted a few things down for the first time in the history of the show. Yeah, okay, let it go. Don't care. I got it here.
SPEAKER_01All right, so I told you there were 28 trades, 27 teams involved, and so like I think either tied a record or broke a record for leading up. Now, a lot of these you know trades were you know, a bag of balls and whatever else. Yeah, that's right. But it was all money. A couple of towels to get them underneath the uh those tech that the TEDx.
SPEAKER_02Everybody's trying to sort out the cap, right? Exactly. Yeah, why am I paying this guy? That's the other one we say. Why are we paying this guy so much money? We're not gonna make the playoffs. Yeah, let's get rid of him, get something in, you know, the whole thing, right? All right, so let's start with 80 to the wizards. Poor AD. Right. So, you know, so he goes to a team that's not gonna make the playoffs.
SPEAKER_01They well, he was on a team that wasn't gonna make the playoffs, right?
SPEAKER_02But now he's on a team that is definitely not gonna make the playoffs. Not just this year, for years. This team's 14th.
SPEAKER_01They don't have who's well, I think we're to the point now that let's not play the well, if AD can stay healthy game because he can't.
SPEAKER_02He can.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, what did I send you one the other day? It was hilarious that they they they they erected a statue for A D in Dallas, and it was you know, a bronze statue. A bronze statue sitting on the uh of him sitting on the bench holding his have a look, he's holding his legs. Listen, this guy was voted top 75 player all time. Imagine the you know, like the career that this guy could have had if he just could have stayed healthy, right? Like, yeah, he's if he's already considered one of the top 75 to ever play the game, and he's he's missed like probably a least at least a third of his career.
SPEAKER_02You can't stop him when he's on. It's impossible.
SPEAKER_01It's impossible. The other thing is you gotta imagine, like, you're spending a shitload of money for these guys, and they're always hurting, right? Like, right. Yeah, okay, and it's not turning into championships.
SPEAKER_02It's not. This is the other thing, right?
Medal Hopes And Canadian Pride
SPEAKER_01It was turning into championships, like Kawhi brought Toronto a championship. They were okay with him only playing 60 games or 50 some games.
SPEAKER_02All he needed was one shot, man. That's right. He only needed one shot and a whole bunch of the rim. But anyway, yeah. So yeah, it's it's now official, as far as I'm concerned, that that Dallas Lakers trade is probably the worst trade in the history of basketball.
SPEAKER_01You know what? If it wasn't for the fact that they locked out and got the number one pick. Cooper flag, locked out, yeah. Alleged. Yeah, the new word. 100% it would be the worst trade ever.
SPEAKER_02By the way, just looking at still is the worst trade, but they like what's with the weather, bro. What it was sunny when I got here. What is this? Oh, it's I brought the classic.
SPEAKER_01Winter in Canada, man.
SPEAKER_02Stupid Canada. Sorry, I just cough people in the left was loud, my bad. So, yeah, so uh um, and here's the thing, too. They kept all their picks, even though they get rid of they get rid of them, right? Like they didn't have to give up anything barely for them.
SPEAKER_01So it's just like well, if you actually injured if you actually look at the the trade is quite ridiculous because it's not just AD, it's yeah, there's four guys from Canadian and um uh oh god, played for the Lakers. Good player, but just can't stay on the team. Recently, Russell, D'Angelo Russell, right? D'Angelo, right left. Dante XM, and I can't remember who the fourth player was from Dallas that got traded to Washington. Washington gave four players back and then a bunch of second round and picks, I think, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02All right, so that wasn't good now.
SPEAKER_01Well, so yeah, go remember not too long ago, uh Trey Young got there as well. So again, it's one of those things like, oh, if A D and Trey Young can stay healthy.
SPEAKER_02I already saw their pitchers side by side on ESPN. They're like, hopefully, like not gonna happen. Yeah, Trey Young's going, yeah, I hope.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, right?
SPEAKER_02They can have that guy in front of you.
SPEAKER_01Trey Young is he's you know, we've talked about this. He's you know, he's a he's a great offensive player, but he doesn't have that doesn't have that defensive anchor to anchor to back him up, like Steph had in in in in Golden State with that defensive the team defense behind him. Um not that Steph's a horrible defender, he's just small, right? Like yeah, I mean says the 5'9 guy, right? Right, but it's um but yeah, but like Trey Young's the same, right? He can't stay in front of people, and so having a healthy AD back there to anchor that defense, I'd be really good. And he's you know, what a role threat for Trey Young.
SPEAKER_02Well, let's be honest, look, I don't care about the bubble. Look what the Lakers did with the healthy AD. Yeah, domination, basically. Oh everybody shut up, everybody played the same games, same place, so shut up, right? Now, here's the other thing, too. Everybody forgets about this guy. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_01I was gonna say, don't forget leading up to that bubble, how good they were playing, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, true, right? They were ready. Yeah, Christoph's Porzingis to the Warriors to the Warriors for Kaminga.
SPEAKER_01They finally poor Kaminga finally got his trade.
SPEAKER_02He did, but here's my thing Christoph sometimes makes AD look like a really healthy guy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because Kristoff's got a medical condition, like real something's wrong. Actually, I don't know what it is, Mike. But uh, he can only play so many games. But when he's on the floor, he's a problem.
NBA Trade Deadline Record
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because he's well, they they they he was the original unicorn that they called him, right? Like I think it was him because KD called him a unicorn, right? Like he's a freak, right?
SPEAKER_02But I mean, to the Warriors, will they use him? Yeah, he can help. Yeah, was it a good trade?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it worked out, but well, it was because Kaminga wasn't playing.
SPEAKER_02Wasn't playing. But my thing is he's gonna stay healthy too, right? You gotta trade him for somebody's gonna sit on the bench, all right. Uh, next one I got is uh, you know this one, uh Nikola uh uh Voshevic to Boston. Yeah, am I saying it right? Vucevic. Sorry, sorry, Nicola. Yeah, Vucevich, pretty good. He'll play.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, he'll play, he'll help Boston. So that's the funny thing is that everybody thought Boston was gonna stay in pat this year with Tatum Hurt, right? But they're like, no, no, we're going for it. They're still going for it. They're second in the east.
SPEAKER_02They think he's gonna come back for the playoffs.
SPEAKER_01Is Boston second in the East?
SPEAKER_02Oh, they're up there. I don't know if they're saying I haven't checked it in a while, but the last time I looked at the.
SPEAKER_01Detroit was one. Yeah, and I thought Boston was two.
SPEAKER_02We'll go with two. We'll just say two.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Because Brown's been playing out of his head, and Kobe White's, or not Kobe White, um Derek White.
SPEAKER_02There's too many whites, too many Kobe's.
SPEAKER_01They got Al they no, that's not Al Horford. Al Horford was there last year. They picked up um oh god, who else did they pick up?
SPEAKER_02Boston?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, why can't I think of it? Anyway, they're doing well. This is a good trade.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Now, uh, should I go with uh yeah? Let's go with Harden first. So the first thing I'm gonna say is four how many four years, five teams, right? Uh four years, five teams. Do I have it written down? Uh yeah, four teams in five years.
SPEAKER_01And I guess he's been with the Clippers for two now, right? But he was with Philly for a year, he was with Brooklyn for half a year. Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_02So here's here's my thing, straight up. It's you, James. It's nobody else. It's you. We know it's you. You know what's you. You're gonna keep jumping. How many? How old is he now?
SPEAKER_0136.
SPEAKER_02It's over.
SPEAKER_01I think.
SPEAKER_02It's over.
SPEAKER_01You can correct me if I'm wrong in that.
SPEAKER_02Is he gonna still play in 40? Probably not.
SPEAKER_01I mean, uh, listen, he's having a great season with the Clippers, but uh Which was shocking why he got trained. I told you to it's a I'm positive it's a money thing. There you go. It all comes down to he's got a player option for next year with only so much guaranteed he wants more.
SPEAKER_02Isn't that something he's still a money gripper? Yeah, oh well. Okay, so James, we're gonna let that go, James. We don't really like you. Uh Chris.
SPEAKER_01Well, he's not he's not ring chain.
SPEAKER_02Well, he okay I guess he is. I guess he's he is ring chain.
AD To Wizards And Health
SPEAKER_01I said he was because he does have I think he does, I think he does have. Does he have the clause that the note that the uh uh that he can reject the trade if he doesn't like where the case is?
SPEAKER_02Oh, he must. Look what he's been doing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, see AD needed that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02To the wizards, yeah. You got a bad agent, bro. Call Rich Paul, but he's waiting on you right now. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, there's no way they're not gonna give AD a no trade clause or whatever if he can't forget exactly.
SPEAKER_02But anyway, yes, Harden.
SPEAKER_01Hey, listen, yeah, I mean, you know, that could be good because they listen, I like Cleveland. It's a good, it's you know, they traded him for uh but Garland, who's you know, become injury prone the last couple years. So yeah, nothing. So Harden, you know, he I th I saw last night Harden's first game, like no practice, no nothing, just had a little bit of film session between him and uh it was against Sacramento, but they they saw like they I think they they accounted for like 30 some 30 some points.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he was solid, he fit in. He fit in. It wasn't didn't look awkward to me. No, you know. Um, so I jumped on it quick though, but Chris Paul to the Raptors.
SPEAKER_01They told him don't even bother showing up. Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's just hilarious that's not the mean way. This is just moving and shaking, he's probably gonna go somewhere else. Well, he was he was well, he's gonna he's gonna be waived. Yeah, that's right. Uh that's right. Uh I don't think they buy him out. I think he gets waived, right? I'm assuming he gets waived. I mean uh too much. And then he'll be able to sign with somebody. So one more chance for a ring. I don't know. If the Lakers have any interest, I'm assuming he just signs with LA only to stay in LA. Yeah, that makes sense. Right? But uh I mean he's already made it clear this is his last year. So or maybe he just says, screw it, I'm done, right? Like I'm not waiting. I'm not going to Utah or wherever. Yeah, or wherever.
SPEAKER_02The Wizards. Yeah. Yeah. Washington. But did you see there was uh there was a uh a thing that came out on Instagram and it showed uh AD Cooper Flag and Kyrie Irvingo, these three never played one game together.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02By the way, where is Kyrie? What's wrong with him?
SPEAKER_01Well, he tore his ACL last year.
SPEAKER_02But shouldn't he be back? Oh no, no, no. No, no, no.
SPEAKER_01I'm just saying is him and Tate.
SPEAKER_02I thought it was two years ago. Felt like so long.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, no, this is last year. Well, he came back from one injury and you know another one. I did see one thing is like the picture of Clay Thompson sitting on the bench going, I came here to win, you know, came here for a chance to win a ring, like, and here we are rebuilding, right? So he's clay's done. Either Clay's retired or he's definitely going somewhere else after.
SPEAKER_02Still play in the G League.
SPEAKER_01He's what Clay's like the same thing, mid-30s. He doesn't want to be playing for a rebuilding team right now. Like, would you? Listen, man, this is the way the league's going. Okay, we talked about it. Like great team, young. Yeah, even once they can't afford some of these guys, they got like how many number one picks still like over the next so many years? Ridiculous. So they're gonna keep that San Antonio, crazy young team getting better and better each year. Like so good. They're probably like a piece away from being like real championship contenders. Yeah, uh, and then now Dallas, like if they could do it right and build around Cooper Flag, like just do it right, right?
SPEAKER_02We're gonna see, right? Next couple of years. But you know, by the way, Spurs still have OKC's number. They're now four out of five, I believe.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I oh, I thought they only played four games in the year, like each other.
SPEAKER_02Maybe no, maybe because of the uh what the hell is that thing? In tournament right, uh, the uh season tournaments.
SPEAKER_01Maybe that's what it is.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, all right. So we go from Chris Oh geez, I forgot about this one. Kobe White to the Hornets. That's not bad. It's not bad because the Hornets are you know the Hornets are playing really well right now.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they're they're right there. I mean But I guess he'd be a backup for Lonzo.
SPEAKER_02The other ball, the right. Yeah, Lonzo, I thought Lonzo's gone again.
SPEAKER_01He's gone out of out of Chicago as well.
SPEAKER_02What? Well, Matt McClung came and said, Oh, there's no room for me.
SPEAKER_01I think Lonzo's is it Lonzo's knee's made of glass right now. Something.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there's something. He needs to go see Curry's doctor, get some growth hormone. But yeah, so okay.
unknownGrowth hormone.
SPEAKER_02Well, something. What are we doing? All right, so Matt McClung, we talked, we were laughing about this. Matt McClung again signed a two-way uh deal with the Bulls. And it says, How many two-way deals?
SPEAKER_01Oh, I don't know. He size he signed 10-day contracts, two-way deals, and poor guy. They haven't worked out, poor guy.
Harden’s Journey And Fit
SPEAKER_02But he's not invited to the slam dunk. No, he was invited.
SPEAKER_01He said he's not.
SPEAKER_02Or sorry, he was invited, but he said no. He goes, How many times can a white guy just embarrass you guys? Come on, man. Right. So we'll see what happens there. LeBron should go in for the last go. It's just for fun. Right. Um, what else did I have? Well, what oh oh oh the Luke Connard thing to the Lakers, because he has the best three-point shooting. And so the joke was we were making off camera was does he play defense? Well, no.
SPEAKER_01Well, the one thing the Lakers didn't need was help on offense. Right. They went out and went. Which is a joke.
SPEAKER_02So the you know, the the joke between them is like, well, if we score three and they score two, we win. Okay. But defense wins championships. Talk to the head of uh Dallas. Anyway, yeah, so Luke Connard, uh whatever, right? Uh who else do we have here? Oh, uh uh, we don't want to go onto that yet, so we'll we'll stop for a minute. So right here, I want to talk about I don't know who if the NBA's got something against the NFL, but they overshadowed the Super Bowl this week somehow with all these trades. So remember last year it was crazy. So well done, marketing team. Well, I mean it's the NBA. It's uh yeah, yeah, you're right. I guess on the marketing side of things, yeah. Yeah, man. Like somebody, tell me that's not on purpose.
SPEAKER_01Like, well, I mean, it's a trade trade deadline. I mean, it is what it's like.
SPEAKER_02Right before the Super Bowl, but it's just like you barely heard anything about the Super Bowl.
SPEAKER_01You've barely heard anything about the Super Bowl.
SPEAKER_02All about the trades. Now, so okay. We didn't even talk about this yet, so this is what I saved, right? John Moron.
SPEAKER_01All those trades around that team, and he never so there's one that I don't even know if you talked about that, but his like his running mate, Jaron Jackson, got trade.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I forgot about that one. Yeah, right, right.
SPEAKER_01So they traded him, which meant re we're going into rebuild. Rebuild. Right? Yep. But and and within the rebuild, they're not gonna rebuild around.
SPEAKER_02You're gonna build around John Morant? No, they're not. So what does that tell you, Mike?
SPEAKER_01Nobody wanted the son of a serious, no serious offers were given for him.
SPEAKER_02Nobody wants the trouble.
SPEAKER_01Listen, man, doesn't matter how good you are.
SPEAKER_02Young fella, you screwed yourself.
SPEAKER_01You could play yourself out of the league here, buddy. I think I saw it's pretty close. I think I saw Kendrick Perkins say that the other day.
SPEAKER_02Kendrick actually said something that meant.
SPEAKER_01Well, I said in a couple years he could be out of the league if he doesn't smarten up, right? Play yourself out of the league, right? So who's gonna take him at that side? Well, nobody wants the the headache that got a big thing.
SPEAKER_02Nobody wants the headache. You're a headache, bro. Yeah, and that's just it.
SPEAKER_01And he's don't don't turn around and blame it on everybody else, man. Take some responsibility.
SPEAKER_02Take it like a man in prison.
SPEAKER_01Now, yeah, on top of that same with Giannis. Oh, yeah. Okay, go ahead. Nobody, obviously. Well, here's the thing. Yeah, okay. Go ahead. Milwaukee was only taking you know ridiculous offers offers, right? So nobody was nobody was forfeiting their future for for potentially a short-term rental, Eonis, right?
SPEAKER_02Well, it's not even that. I told you, I said he's not moving. Why? Because he has to move the whole family. Well, maybe that's what it is. There's a lot of baggage. Nobody wants that.
SPEAKER_01No team could uh take the three.
SPEAKER_02He's got his wife, his uncle, his girlfriend, his two brothers, his cousin, the dog, and a baby giraffe.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Nobody's gonna take that on. Yeah. Right? Just the food alone for the giraffe would be just ridiculous. Yeah. Okay. So poor Giannis, yeah.
SPEAKER_01There goes Matt McClung's two-way contract again.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. Yeah. All right. So is that it for basketball? We have a couple other things to talk about today, but we got anything else for ball? I can't think of anything that we missed.
Porzingis, Vucevic, And Boston
SPEAKER_01Uh well, we missed uh talking about the um I I don't think we talked about it last week, right? That LeBron is in to the All-Star Game. We did.
SPEAKER_02We said that they voted him in yet.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I couldn't remember, yeah. We old. Yeah, we old.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I couldn't remember when they announced that the uh Yeah, we got they got him in, which we figured they would, right? But he's reserve.
SPEAKER_01Well, I know that the big thing was that uh who's gonna step down, let him let him step down. Well that we'll see what happens there. But Kawhi Kawhi wasn't on.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they got him in too. Thank you.
SPEAKER_01Because of the way the tournament's set up, it's two two teams from the US and one world team, and so there wasn't enough US players to make the two teams. Oh, I didn't read that. Is that why? I just saw that they got him in. I wasn't that something.
SPEAKER_02Kawhi, I don't even know what to say about that guy.
SPEAKER_01Well, because how many usually go in? There's usually what, five and so there's usually what? How many how many players are there? Twenty. Twenty-one? Twenty. Oh, I can't remember. Can't remember. No, maybe there'd be twenty-four, so maybe it would have been eight, eight, and eight, like three teams of eight. So maybe so maybe, you know, maybe I guess because people.
SPEAKER_02Either way, I mean he's playing well.
SPEAKER_01Staff's injured right now, so I don't know if staff's gonna play.
SPEAKER_02So he's a cheerleader. You know what? I watched that game last night at the Lager. He set up more times than uh Kerr did. I swear to God, he was coaching more times than Kerr was. Yeah, yeah. He's looking at a bench, sit down, boy.
SPEAKER_01Speaking of which, last year, for just for reference, I guess, LeBron didn't play in the All-Star game last year. If you remember, he was injured. So even though he got voted in last year, he didn't play last year. So it'd be interesting to see. I'm going down and getting on a banana vote with a couple of my friends, and he does need a break though. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Right? You want to take a run, you want to you want to make a run.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, what's what does he have to prove in an all-star game? Nothing.
SPEAKER_02That's why he didn't even care if you get in or not. Right?
SPEAKER_01I mean, like we said, it'd be nice for it's nice for him to get in. He's he's just okay.
SPEAKER_02Maybe go in, you know. Hey, thanks everybody. You know, play a play a couple minutes. A couple minutes and let that the young like it's time. Let the young people.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. He's already like the all-time leading scorer. I mean in the all-star games, right? Well, in every in every game.
SPEAKER_02If you play 20 years, you're gonna have those records.
SPEAKER_0122 years straight in the actual all-star game, right?
SPEAKER_02So I sent you the thing about uh Michael, Michael Jordan and uh LeBron James and the barbershop. No, no, oh my god, all right. Yeah, there's two guys in the barbershop that's like, oh yeah, heck of a game, I was thinking. He goes, Yeah, you gotta give LeBron his deuce. And the guy gets up to walk away, he goes, But you know, if there wasn't Michael, the guy stops. Of course. And he turns back around and they start going at each other. Yeah, yeah. And then there's a guy in the corner doesn't say anything, he goes, What about Kobe? And then two guys just start laughing. I'm like, Oh, come on, man. If they just start laughing, go, Kobe, ah, yeah. Like, okay. Anyway, I was they did Kobe dirty, man, but it was a funny commercial. Yeah, yeah. I'll have to send you that.
All-Star Slots And Veterans
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you'll have to. Oh, well, I think I've seen, I think once you describe that, I think I've seen it before. It's a few years old. Yeah, it's a few years old.
SPEAKER_02Nothing's nothing's new.
SPEAKER_01They can't come up with new shit.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, right. Okay, so now we were talking. Remember, we uh our our good buddy there got arrested, our good Canadian snowboarding friend.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, sure.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, right. So he turned himself in, as we told you, right?
SPEAKER_01Well, that's uh that's what Mexico's saying.
SPEAKER_02That's what Mexico says, right? So he's probably up here the whole time anyway. Yeah, right. Just sitting next door to the Mississauga Police Department to Tim Hortons. Yeah, they'll never find me here. Yeah, yeah. So anyway.
SPEAKER_01The York, the police department, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's where I'm going with this, Mike. The York Regional Police Department is like the most corrupt police department in Toronto. They're involved in organized crime. There was, I wrote it down. Seven officers. Seven officers, yeah. Uh the main dude is like no bail. Uh, him and his son, I believe, father-son deal. There is a father-son in there. And uh, you guys are bad people. But guess what, Mike? It's not just the Toronto police, it's our federal police. Those are the RCMP. Oh, wow. I read a whole article about this one. I had to talk about this because I was like, how many dude? In 2024, I'm gonna have to read it because I don't want to make a mistake. In 2024, 443 RCMP, the actual number, were accused of misconduct, serious misconduct. A hundred of those cases uh came out with uh serious discipline. 22 cases ended up in resignations or terminations immediately. What is the RCMP doing, Mike? And then they said this in the article. They go, well, in a lot of these things we had to re reteach and then actually introduce new policies because of what's been going on.
unknownJesus.
SPEAKER_02But it didn't say what was going on. I want to know is how dumb are these dudes? Like, what? That's a lot of people, man. It is, you know, and how serious are the allegations?
SPEAKER_01Well, they don't say now we know where some of the guys for ICE are.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's what I was thinking. Like, well, okay, so all the guys that get fried in the NCP are now ICE agents with the little Canadian flag there, whatever, right? Okay. Yeah, but uh on top of that, here's here's things that everybody loves Canadian tire.
SPEAKER_01Okay, sure, here in Canada.
SPEAKER_02Let me tell you a funny story that I heard. Now, I don't know who told me this story, but I was overseas years ago, and somebody said, My dad, when he was young, him with his buddies came over to Asia with like thousands of dollars in Canadian tire money. Oh, yeah, all right, okay, and used it as Canadian currency in the Asian countries. And everybody's like, oh, okay, no problem. What?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
Ja Morant Market And Rebuilds
SPEAKER_02So if you don't know what that is in Canada, you go to Canadian Tire and you get your change back, but then you get extra change back in Canadian tire money. And you can use that Canadian tire money to buy other things, or you could get oil changes if you accumulate enough and all this other stuff, right? Sure. Points and things like that. But it's not real money. No. But it says Canadian tire right on it with the symbol Canadian tire. But yeah, I thought that was nice. So anyway, why are we talking about Canadian Tire? Well, yeah, we're talking about advertising and marketing. They've just been, oh, let me get the number. Almost$1.3 million being fined for false advertising. So basically, what they did, they put a sale on. So let's say they put a sale on a vacuum cleaner.
SPEAKER_00Sure. Okay.
SPEAKER_02So they put the sale on$79.99. Then it shows the original price,$179. But the problem is the original price was like$129. So what they do is they jack up the original price, say that, oh, look how big of a discount we're getting. And they got caught. Not just there, but a lot of places got caught. Apparently they've been doing it for a while. And the uh po been on to them.
SPEAKER_01You ever go to those ones and you has the sale sticker on you? Pull the sticker off it?
SPEAKER_02Or or lower? Right. Yeah, right, or lower. I've been there, seen that myself, right? So I needed the cue card today for that reason, but I don't need the cue card for this, even though it's here. Brad Arnold. If you don't know who that is, you're not a real Canadian. Not sure. You're real Canadian. If you have a passport in your phone. Uh Brad Arnold was, of course, the singer for uh Three Doors Down. Well, not just the singer, the founder also of Three Doors Down. He was a great man, great voice. I think that's a good one. Great dude. Passed away 47. He had livery kidney cancer. Sorry. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So young, man. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Too young, man. Nine months it got him, it said. Nine months. Jesus, man. Dude, well, the reason I I'm I'm big on that guy is because all those years we were sailing in Chester in the 90s, those were the tunes we were always listening to back at the block house and on the boat. Sure, right. Everything else, right? So it brought me back when I heard he died. And the first thing I remember is just sitting on a sailboat down Chester. That's what it brought me back to, right? So all those years. But yeah. So uh sad. It is sad. We hate ending on a sad note, but you know, that that's that. Uh crazy weather in Canada. Now we get a lot of snow down, a lot of cold weather. And uh I guess you can answer this, Mike. We do we get snow right up into March?
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02All the way through. Yeah. Yay. Dad would come down for the uh the the Oh right, the basketball at the old Metro Center, which is now called the Scotiaban. Scotiabank.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, still there. And uh dad so dad would come every year for that. Sean and dad would come down and uh and yeah, he uh every time he came down, we always got a snowstorm.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01Almost every single year he came down, we'd get a snowstorm. And dad, he was always wherever dad went, he was a basketball coach, and wherever he got whenever we had a big tournament away, you could almost guarantee that we'd get on the road to go and there'd be a snowstorm. Isn't that something?
SPEAKER_02What's the chance of that?
SPEAKER_01Right? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So anyway.
SPEAKER_01So anyway, so yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so um, we're gonna give a shout out to uh Tommy D from Juice Entertainment.
SPEAKER_00Okay, yeah.
Spurs, OKC, And Youth Movements
SPEAKER_02Uh Tommy D hit us up and uh we're looking to do something with him possibly down the road. So Tommy D, if you're listening, we're on your side uh with that uh lawsuit there against uh you know who. We don't want to say it online, we'll let you say it, but uh hope you win, buddy. So anyway, so watch us on or listen to us. Apparently there's a lot more people listening to us. So if you're only listening to us, I'm six foot four, blonde hair, blue eyes, pediatric surgeon, and on the weekends I work at the soup kitchen. That is not true at all. Yeah, yeah. So if you're just listening to us, uh these two old fellas. Uh I used to have hair, Mike still has his. Yeah. Uh used to have money, Mike still has his. Yeah. So uh I used to have a girlfriend, Mike still has his. Oh, wait, what? Nope. Uh no, that's not true. He has a wife. I never had a wife.
SPEAKER_01That's better.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Still looking. Can't hold anything down. But anyway, so watch us on uh Buzzprote where uh you can catch us on all the different ones. Spotify seems to be the big one, obviously. That's where everybody's catching us on Spotify. And uh, you can see me on uh uh my actual channel, Muscle and Fiction, with uh coach Bobby. And uh once again, Mike, I got another stupid comment. You know, people write and stuff. Oh, how can you be a coach when you look like that? Look like what, bro? Like I look pretty good for somebody my age, don't you think, Mike?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't know what that means.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't know what that means either. It means what they basically are saying is watch on steroids and look like all the other monkeys. Oh, right.
SPEAKER_01You gotta be you gotta look like you gotta look just so you know, nobody stays shredded like that all the time.
SPEAKER_02Right, exactly. Or big. Yeah, I'm still in shape all these years, I still look the same. So you can kiss my, you know what. Yeah, yeah, right. But yeah, so young fellas, get over it, man. Like, not everybody looks like the juiced up animals. They look that way for a reason, right? I'm showing proper technique and everything. You can decide what you want to do with it. I'm not telling you to take anything other than to be healthy, right?
SPEAKER_01Go go listen to any celebrity when they talk about like the the grind that they have to go through, the look like that on camera, and how they're like so happy that they're you know they're filming on that that movie or whatever is done so they can actually take a break. All right, so we're gonna hit that.
SPEAKER_02So we're gonna still still talk. So you hang around. So, one of the biggest ones I laughed at was the Fast and the Furious when they interviewed the chick. Uh Michelle on the Rodriguez. Yeah, she goes, in any of the places we ever were, she goes, It stinks so bad from the protein farts. It's disgusting, right? Now, the other one though that I got a lot of respect for, Henry Cavill. Henry Cavill said what he ate and how he did it and how hard he worked, and he goes, I never want to do that again. For Superman? Uh no, it was for a different role, actually. Uh, The Witcher.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. In The Witcher. He was shredded. I love by the way, I love The Witcher. Interested, I I don't have Netflix, so I don't know what the new one is with the Hemsworth brother, uh, what that's like.
SPEAKER_02But I loved the trailer for that.
SPEAKER_01I loved Henry Cavillan and it was really good.
SPEAKER_02All right, and I haven't watched that, it's but it's in my, I've saved it.
SPEAKER_01I played the games too, so I knew a little bit of a I never read the books, but I'm not sure.
Pricing Scandals And Policing
SPEAKER_02But anyway, yeah, so the difficulty he said is ridiculous. And he says, Yeah, I have a lot of respect for people who are in that shit. You should.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because it's discipline, routine, and you have to have sacrifice beyond belief to do that. So all these young people that are like 18, 19, full of steroids, and then talking about the people that are 40, 50, 60. Oh, so I suppose Charles Glass, the famous uh uh bodybuilder coach, he don't look the same as he used to either. He's about 60 or older.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, also, by the way, it's a critical card. Like it's much easier when you're 20s.
SPEAKER_02Well, of course it is. Not to mention, as soon as you hit 30, yeah, your muscle starts to fall away. So if you want to talk about the rock, we can do that. Okay, we will. So when when you're the rock and you look, you're fat at 30, and at 50, uh you're shredded and made the movie uh I was gonna say giant atom, black atom, and you look better than half the bodybuilders in the world. Really? Do you know how hard it is to keep muscle after 30? You have to eat more protein than you did when you're in your 20s and 30s. It's ridiculous.
SPEAKER_01Look at Batista, like everybody like, oh, look at how small the Batista looks still looks phenomenal.
SPEAKER_02Looks small.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if you have you don't have Prime, I don't think, right?
SPEAKER_02I know what you're gonna say though, because I saw the trailer. Yes, it's so good. I like I gotta see it. Both of those guys are cool dudes. They are fun, yeah. Yeah, so and they're both funny. Batista and Jason Momoa. It was a fun movie. I like it. I don't have Prime, but I'll have to figure out how to do it.
SPEAKER_01I haven't sat down and watched the movie in a while, uh, and I decided to watch that one the other day just because I like both movies.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because you have prime, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I thought that was really well done. I'll have to look into that.
SPEAKER_02But anyway, yeah, so there's our rant.
SPEAKER_01It's not gonna win you any awards, but it's no, but that's not why you're watching it. You're watching it to fill up a little bit of time and have some fun. It was fun.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that was cool. Yeah, right. Every once in a while you gotta do that, right?
SPEAKER_01That's right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So uh anything else? Is that it pretty much?
SPEAKER_01I think that's it. Did a good job. The cats stayed out of the frame the whole time.
SPEAKER_02Yep, they're right there, staring us, they're ready to go, though. I can see that one's like, hey man, what's up? Uh but anyway, so uh once again, you know where to catch us, uh Spotify and everybody stay safe with the bad roads and bad weather. And uh please.
