What Makes A Champion: Skill, Luck, Or The Six Inches Between Your Ears
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Overtime cuts deeper when the whole country is watching. We relive Canada’s gold medal hockey thrillers that slipped away in three-on-three, unpack why one pinch can flip a tournament, and wrestle with the long argument over NHL stars at the Olympics—national pride on one shoulder, franchise risk on the other. Then we pivot to the sport that unexpectedly ruled the group chat: curling. From pebbled ice and sweeping physics to surgical shot calls and a fresh wave of casual fans, the game earned more attention than ever, and Canada’s men made it count with gold while the women battled for bronze.
We zoom through the medal table with perspective—five golds, seven silvers, nine bronzes, and 11th out of 93 nations—plus a salute to Moncton’s Courtney Sarault for a short-track run that turned heads across the country. Along the way, we call out lazy media framing that treats silver as failure and celebrate athletes who answer better than the questions they get. Pressure is universal; the difference is what you do after the miss. That theme carries straight into basketball, where a revamped All-Star format finally brought defense, effort, and a few egos back to earth. Not every superstar bought in, but the pulse was real, the blocks mattered, and the game felt like a game again.
We finish with the culture bits that color everything: ads that flatten great players into awkward punchlines, iconic cereal-box moments that still inspire, and the mental edge that separates contenders from tourists. Whether it’s a skip threading granite through traffic or a guard taking the next shot after an airball, the six inches between your ears still decide the biggest moments. Hit play for sharp takes on Canada’s Winter Games storylines, curling’s unlikely spotlight, and the All-Star weekend that finally turned a corner. If this episode made you think, laugh, or yell at your screen, follow, share, and drop a review—what moment stuck with you most?

Cold Open: Gold, Silver, And Snark
SPEAKER_07Right? If you're in the woke committee, yeah, we identify as gold medalists.
SPEAKER_03Sure. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07We're all winners. There's no participation trophies in the Olympics.
SPEAKER_05I did see something the other day that something said it was an interesting again, but you know, I will talk about it in a second, but it was an interesting take, too. It also said somebody said, Oh, I won silver. You don't win silver. You win gold. That's right. You get silver or bronze. And I was like, well, that's not true, right?
SPEAKER_07Well, you know what they say. Two is not a winner, and three nobody remembers.
SPEAKER_04And I don't know.
SPEAKER_07Ricky Bobby.
SPEAKER_04Oh, if you're not first, you're last.
SPEAKER_07Oh, come on, man. We're on that one. If you're not first, you're last. Where did curling come from? Well, I'm gonna I'm gonna tell you this.
SPEAKER_06Scotland, isn't it?
SPEAKER_07That's not the truth.
SPEAKER_06Okay. Tell me then.
SPEAKER_07Okay, so that might be the truth, but I don't know. Because here's our here's my take on it.
SPEAKER_03Here we go.
SPEAKER_07My my take is somebody in probably uh uh uh Cape Breton City or sorry, town will go with uh give me a Cape Breton town, Mike Small one, not Sydney? No, no, it's too big, too big. Go with uh Shetty Camp.
SPEAKER_00Sure.
SPEAKER_07Right? It's probably somebody in Shetty Camp, probably last name LeBlanc, right? In Shetty Camp. And they're going onto the ice, and uh, you know, the little brother's at home. He says, We're gonna go down and throw some rocks, and mom says, Take your little brother with you. Okay, so you get him down the ice, there's nothing else to do. You need to clean off the ice, you hand him the broom.
SPEAKER_01Sure.
SPEAKER_07All of a sudden he's sweeping in front of the rock and he got curled. Everybody's friend Prince Andrew in trouble again.
SPEAKER_02Not Prince anymore.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he's not Prince anymore. Kind of like the real Prince. But yeah, so Prince, yeah, he gets he got demoted from the the pedophile formerly known as Prince Andrew. Oh, that's good.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's fantastic.
SPEAKER_07Hey everybody, welcome back to You Would Think with Bobby D and Mikey D. And the Olympics. We started already. We just watched the game.
SPEAKER_05It is Sunday. Gold medal hockey game just ended. We are a little defeated. Uh it was a good game. Uh, you like to see it. Uh go to overtime, is what you want to see. But of course, as a Canadian, none of us want to see the the Americans beat us in overtime.
SPEAKER_07Well, here's the thing, Mike. If you're liberal enough, we can identify as we won. Right? If you're in the woke committee, yeah, we identify as gold medalists.
SPEAKER_03Sure. Yeah. Not really.
SPEAKER_07We're all winners. Where's that particular? There's no participation trophies in the Olympics.
SPEAKER_05I did see something the other day that something said it was an interesting, again, you know, I'll talk about it in a second, but it was an interesting take, too. It also said somebody said, Oh, I won silver. You don't win silver, you win gold. That's right. You get silver or bronze. I was like, Well, that's not true, right?
SPEAKER_07Well, you know what they say. Two is not a winner, and three nobody remembers, and I don't know, Ricky Bobby.
SPEAKER_04Oh, if you're not first, you're last. Oh, come on, man. We were on that one.
SPEAKER_07If you're not first, you're last.
SPEAKER_05Gotta love that guy. But I was like, I was saying to you just off camera there about that reporter's
Welcome Back And Olympic Reactions
SPEAKER_05question to that Eileen Goo about do you look at that as two silvers won or two golds lost? And I thought, what a stupid take, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_07That's when you should be allowed to slap a reporter. Yeah. Right? Like as an athlete and a top athlete in in that one, just go, really? What is wrong with you? I know, right? Like we were saying, just call them out. Fine. Just that's the question. I'm not gonna answer that. Not only that, the Canadians are being nice to be able to do that. She handled herself well. She did, really. Good on you. Yeah. Good on you. But you're not real Canadian.
SPEAKER_05So well, I yeah, she's she skates for China. Yeah, skis for China.
SPEAKER_07Skis for China, so we we don't care. But anyway, so uh blah. The Canadians were good people till this Olympics. So we had we had the gold medal, or uh sorry, the gold medal, which we did win, of course, in curling. But we had the Canadian team swearing at the Swedes. Fuck you, F you, fuck you, buddy. Uh yeah, check the camera, you know. And then uh we just had the other one. What's it called, Mike? Nord uh Nordic? Uh that ski. Oh, I don't yeah, no, mountaineering? No, no, it wasn't that one.
SPEAKER_05It was uh whatever, it was the downhill. There was four the four of them.
SPEAKER_07I don't know what that is, it's crazy shit. It's like, get out of the way, I'm coming by.
SPEAKER_05Right?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, lost the in that and then cross, maybe?
SPEAKER_05I don't know what it's called.
SPEAKER_07I don't know what it's called, but yeah, he was that was pretty much.
SPEAKER_05Well, he got a yellow card, like he should not have got a card, right? Slammed his poles now. I don't think he should have got a card either. He'd come in second, and he he had he didn't look like he was gonna, and he hit that jump perfect at the end. Was able to get in, he qualified, and then they gave him a card for which again was when you watch After the announcer said Oh, the announcer said, Oh, he had the inside lane, was letting them know, hey, I've got the inside lane.
SPEAKER_07Like the announcers even the inside lane.
SPEAKER_05The guy in the the guy there's so there's a guy in front, second and third were really close. The Canadian had the inside lane, the other guy should have gave him room, but instead the other guy cut it. They kind of like bumped a little bit. Uh and at that stage, it didn't knock the guy out, like the guy stayed. Yep, and the guy actually ended up overtaking coming moving into first place, right? So uh kind of a shitty, shitty thing for that Canadian, but yeah, his response was, Are you fucking kidding me? On camera, again very loud.
SPEAKER_07There was no bleeps on that.
SPEAKER_05Listen, we are polite, but we do curse a lot.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we fucking right. Yeah, anyway, so Olympics overall, pretty good. We have a medal count. We had it, we just looked it up just to make sure. We got five gold, seven silver, including today's, of course, with the hockey, and nine bronze.
SPEAKER_06Yep.
SPEAKER_07Now, the big thing about this is our friend in uh Moncton has four of those medals, yeah, right? And uh her name, so we say it right, is uh Courtney Sorrow. I think we say it correctly.
SPEAKER_05Sorrow, sure. So good job, Courtney. Well done, and keep going. You know, the the you know, the topic around here is I didn't know Moncton was a hotbed for for speed skating, but apparently it is. I guess she's the only one. Well, I don't know, like you know, like four medals is pretty impressive, man.
SPEAKER_07So dude, that's super impressive. That's you're getting up to like you know, the Summer Olympic people are winning like four and stuff, right? But our speed skater uh speed skaters are pretty good, man. Speed skaters, skiers, aerial stuff.
SPEAKER_05We won the gold in the women's team, whatever the team uh what's it called? The chase or whatever it's called? I can't. Yeah, there's so many things.
SPEAKER_07I apologize to Skate Canada. We don't know all the yeah, all we know is we watch and it's awesome.
SPEAKER_05We watch and it's awesome. I never know the names of most of these sports.
SPEAKER_07Now, our friend Steve, we're not gonna name names, but our friend Steve would have watched all the curling matches for one reason, Mike.
SPEAKER_06Why is that?
SPEAKER_07Lululemon.
SPEAKER_06Oh, right.
SPEAKER_07Right? So if you don't know, our friend Steve likes Lululemon pants. And uh all the new curlers are now wearing
Media Takes And Athlete Respect
SPEAKER_07those. So you can't hide anything in those pants. So just saying, but probably the uh I'm just gonna guess on this one, Mike. I'm gonna guess the viewing's gone up for for curling, wearing the new uniforms and everybody looks smoking.
SPEAKER_05I mean, it's uh yeah, they that's what they said about the controversy with curling, right? Is that there's been more talk about curling in the last, you know, whatever, like week, a week and a half now because of the because of the controversy than than they've ever had. So I hear people at my office talking about, well, you know, you can't do this before, you know, once it crosses the hog line. You can't do the hog line. Like, oh listen, everybody knows the rules now. You knew that before, did you? Right. It's funny, everybody knew the rules, and then we're sitting there going, well, how do you how do you how do you score it though in the end? Like, how the who gets the points here? Like, I don't know. I was like, okay, so you know the hog line rule, but that's the right starting. That's right. Casuals, casuals. I played I curled when I was in high school.
SPEAKER_07Like a little bit. You know, I never did. I always wanted to, I never had the chance, which is fun, but it looks fun.
SPEAKER_05It's fun, yeah. You get the little slider on your foot and down you go. And anyway, it's it's fun, but and those rocks, that's what I said when they're talking about, well, he's touching the rock, it's you know, that's cheating. It's like, have you ever like those rocks are heavy, man? 35 pounds or something, right? It's crazy, right? Yeah, they're not, they're not, they're not light anyway, so you gotta have a real deaf touch. Like the way to see how those if you watch the gold medal game, you know, the the way the Canadian just curled it around, just to you know, anyways, yeah.
SPEAKER_07So the P okay, we're gonna go deeper on curling. Are we?
SPEAKER_05Because we're we're curling pros now.
SPEAKER_07Oh, I'm I'm I'm more of a pro than anybody. I've never played, but I do know quite a bit about it. I did some research years ago, years ago I was trying to get into. So here's the thing. So, first and foremost, everybody's watched girl and go, okay. Well, if you don't sweep, do you think the rock's gonna come to a grinding halt on a sheet of ice? No. No, okay. The ice is not flat either, everybody. It has bubbles on it, right? Little little things. And that's why when you're when you're sweeping, you're pushing those down so the rock turns the way you want it to, okay? So that's one thing. Now, where did curling come from? Well, I'm gonna I'm gonna tell you this.
SPEAKER_06Scotland, isn't it?
SPEAKER_07That's not the truth.
SPEAKER_06Okay, well, tell me then.
SPEAKER_07Okay, so that might be the truth, but I don't know, because here's our here's my take on it.
SPEAKER_03Here we go.
SPEAKER_07My my take is somebody in probably uh uh Cape Breton City or sorry, town will go with uh give me a Cape Breton town, Mike Small one, not Sydney? No, no, it's too big, too big. Go with uh Shetty Camp.
SPEAKER_00Sure, right?
SPEAKER_07It's probably somebody in Sheddicamp, probably last name LeBlanc, right? In Shetamp, and they're going onto the ice, and uh, you know, the little brother's at home says, we're gonna go down and throw some rocks, and mom says, Take your little brother with you. Okay, so you're gonna down the ice, there's nothing else to do. You know, you clean off the ice, you hand him the broom.
SPEAKER_01Sure.
SPEAKER_07All of a sudden he's sweeping in front of the rock and you got curling. All right. I'm just going with that one. I don't know for sure, but that's my take on it. Sure. That's curling in a nutshell. All right. So you're going, it came from Scotland.
SPEAKER_05I think it came from Scotland, but I don't know though. I don't know either, which is funny. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07But here's the thing. Let's go this way. It doesn't matter. Great Britain, who is which is not a country, for just so you know, uh, which I don't understand how they get in the Olympics, but anyway. Okay. Okay, because it's not a country. Sure. Right? Great Britain was the number one team. Oh, I'm sorry, Mike, who won who won the gold medal in the curling for the men?
SPEAKER_06Canada did.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah, that's right. Fifth. So the top five doesn't matter. We smoked you, done deal.
SPEAKER_05Hey man, like after everything to go back and win, like that's pretty good. That's their first goal in a long time, too, right?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, but that team that they have, a lot of those guys already have medals from previous things, and they're very, very good. But yeah, so anyway.
SPEAKER_05No, it was a good game. It was actually good. I actually watched it. Yeah, I was actually quite impressed.
SPEAKER_07Um, just so we don't miss anybody here, Mike.
SPEAKER_05Sure.
SPEAKER_07Got a cue card again. Uh, just okay, so we got the women's hockey. Everybody knows we got bronze, right? We got the curling bronze hockey also or women's.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we got silver. Silver, sorry. Lost to the Americans in overtime. Same thing. Sorry, my bad. Somebody wants to say, yeah. Thank you for correcting me.
SPEAKER_07Sorry, women's hockey, because we were watch that game too. Yes. Uh,
Canadian Curling, Controversies, And Lululemon
SPEAKER_07curling was the bronze. Curling was the bronze. That's what I meant to say. Yeah, curling was the bronze for the women, also a good game. Good game. Right. And uh the speed gators, speed skaters, as we know, cleaned up. Now, here's the thing we have 20 medals, right? Uh, as we said, once again, we have uh five, seven, and nine in that order, gold silver bronze. We're 11th. Okay. Oh, boo-hoo hoo. Okay, hang on. Mike, would you like to guess how many countries are in the Olympics competing in the Winter Olympics, if you were to guess?
SPEAKER_05Oh, God, I don't know. 60?
SPEAKER_07I didn't know we okay, right. That's a good guess. It's 93.
SPEAKER_05Oh, okay, Jesus, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_0711th out of 93 is pretty dangerous.
SPEAKER_05See, I would have thought for sure, Summer Olympics, I would have thought there'd be more representation than in the winter Olympics.
SPEAKER_07Oh, there will be for sure, but I'm just saying there's 93, right?
SPEAKER_05Crazy.
SPEAKER_07So coming 11th out of 93 is pretty good. However, we know that the Canadian Olympic peoples are complaining that we should have more medals because Norway has the most medals, and Norway's this big, right? We have more people than Norway.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, well, yeah, I think they were saying that you know Canada needs to kind of revisit their their Olympic program, I guess. I mean, we still, again, 2020's medals is still pretty good, but remember, our friend from Mountain's got four of them.
SPEAKER_07I don't know what the expectation is going into these ones. Well, I thought 10-10-10, that was my my professional opinion.
SPEAKER_05I thought they said this was the most athletes we've sent to the Olympics since since we hosted them in Vancouver in 2018.
SPEAKER_07Oh, the most. Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_05So well, uh remember everybody was was higher than that. And and again, like we talked about, I think up to the halfway point of the Olympics, we hadn't even had a medal yet. Yeah, it was bad. So we had 20 in the second half, right? We we should have had a few more in the first half, but well.
SPEAKER_07Now, the Olympics are not over. Everybody keeps forgetting that we have Paralympics that are coming up in March. I believe they start March 4th or something like that, all right? Don't quote me on the date, but they will also be shown on CBC, right? So you can watch those. And we have uh we're expected to get medals in that uh genre as well. So we are also good in the Paralympics uh for Canada in different sports. So check that out. Make sure you look at that, people, everybody. Now, what else for the Olympics, Mike? What else do you want to hit before we go on?
SPEAKER_05Uh I don't think there was anything else. Was there that happened? I think it's it's still not done yet. Closing ceremonies or whatever.
SPEAKER_07Closing ceremonies tonight, imagine. Yeah, that's two full weeks. So uh check the cue card. No, we hit everything. We hit everything. So uh we're gonna move on now to uh two quick things, and then we're gonna jump into basketball.
SPEAKER_07That's we're gonna use that.
SPEAKER_05It's gonna be interesting to see what happens to him here, right?
SPEAKER_07Because like we talked about, it's they didn't get him for yeah, we might get him for pedophile, yeah, pedophilia. Yeah, they got him for confidential trade information here, passing it on. Okay, so what about all the people like Nancy Pelosi in the US that are the best trade people in the entire world? Shouldn't they get them on the same confidential trade info?
SPEAKER_05Shouldn't they be getting a bunch of these pedophiles in the states on the thing, Mike?
SPEAKER_07I mean, okay, you know, everybody's in an uproar about everything except for the pedophiles. You're hurting children.
SPEAKER_05I I think I you know I think I talked about last week about how they're not going everywhere else is suffering the consequences of it except for the high profile people in the US.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And everybody else has been arrested. I heard this. And again, just because your name is in the files doesn't necessarily mean you were doing anything. I we get that.
SPEAKER_07We get that just because your name is in the files doesn't mean it doesn't mean you were there, it means somebody contacted you through like Joe Rogan thing we were saying. Like they tried to get Joe Joker, uh no part of these guys, right? And I'm sure there's other people like that too. But there was uh I don't know who this dude was that says it. I was watching one of these. Oh, it was on Tucker Carlson. Uh well, you gotta take that right. Okay, he doesn't even have a television, but anyway, so it did say that the the he asked the question of this dude, and the guy goes, uh, the reason we haven't arrested anybody in the US is because the whole economic economy would be destroyed. I'm like, interesting.
Curling 101 And Mythmaking
SPEAKER_07So, how many high-profile people in the U.S. are on that list, bro? It just goes to that it's gonna destroy the economy of the United States?
SPEAKER_05That's uh that loudmouth there, Marjorie Taylor Green, like came out and said the gun tote and blonde girl. Yeah, it came out and said that the president called her up and said, You need to lay off of this. A lot of my friends are gonna get in a lot of trouble and get hurt by this if you if you keep pushing this, if we release these files. There you go. She came out and flat out said, like he he specifically.
SPEAKER_07Well, we don't even have to go, we didn't even need to know that because at initially, when he came, he goes, Yeah, we're gonna we're gonna release that. And then they went to the wheel. And then he's like, My name's in it. What?
SPEAKER_05And then your response can't be, well, why didn't you know the Biden administration release the thing? Well, they didn't, and you ran on a platform that said you were gonna release it.
SPEAKER_07So that's right. Did you see the thing they just interviewed me the other day about aliens are gonna disclose? And he goes, Obama said Obama said it, and he goes, Well, that was classified information, he wasn't supposed to say that.
SPEAKER_05It wasn't until you just said it there, buddy. He said it five times. They asked Obama if he believed that aliens were real, and he said yes. And then uh, and then they then they spun it and said, you know, well, what do you think about him saying that aliens are real? And he goes, he released classified information, he shouldn't have done it. No, they just asked him if he believed they were real. He said yes, he didn't once say everybody's everybody's forgetting something, though.
SPEAKER_07But everybody's forgetting something, though. Everybody forgets this, this got swept away. But this happened. There was a gentleman, I don't know if it was Julian Assange or one of these other guys on WikiLeaks uh that went in and got all these files from NASA and released it. Those were NASA files, and it talked about alien chips, aliens, and everything. And then they interviewed Obama, and Obama went, Well, yeah, we did get hacked, and there's nothing we can do about that. And obviously, that means that they hacked shit about aliens. Because he goes, That's not true. He goes, We did get hacked. He didn't come out and say, nope, nope nope, nope. That was real, look it up. All right. Now, somebody who can't look up, and I got mad at this. Robert Duval passed away at 95.
SPEAKER_05Great actor.
SPEAKER_0795, great actor, fanatic, unbelievable. Yeah, one of the best. People said, Oh, we saw him doing bicep curls at Christmas time. I'm like, okay. And then, like, well, well, you know, how did Robert Duval die? What did I say, Mike?
SPEAKER_0696.
SPEAKER_07He's 95. I mean, what do you mean? How did he die? He's old. This is what you don't live forever unless you're part of the Illuminati. Block that out. All right. So why is anybody even asking? He's not, he lived a great life. If you can live to 95, Gene Hackman also.
SPEAKER_05Everybody just wants to know the cause of death now, right?
SPEAKER_07Well, it's just old age, things just stop working here, you know. But yeah, he was a fantastic character. Jeez, he was good. I was I was sad to hear that.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Right. Poor old Robert Duval. But uh, on top of that, one, yeah, uh, we want to joke, we want to make this joke because we forgot about it. The Canadians don't drink alcohol a lot, eh, Mike? So Canadians are such good drinkers. They opened up all the bars early in Canada so that they could serve alcohol for the hockey game this morning. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05So they kept cutting to the to the images.
SPEAKER_07They kept coming to all the bars, and then we started doing the math about time. So wait a minute. Vancouver had to get up at what time?
SPEAKER_05Well, it would have been if the game started at nine, was that five in the morning? I guess they would have started at night.
SPEAKER_07And what did we see in the Vancouver bar? Boys are already drinking Guinness. They got their Guinness in front of the holy smokes. Alcoholic?
SPEAKER_05Well, it's you know, at the end of it, like I said, it's either you're gonna be drinking to celebrate or you're gonna be drinking to drown your sorrows. And right now, poor Canada's drinking to drown their sorrows, but I wonder how many drinking and driving infractions happen on a day like this. Yeah, you gotta wonder. My my my favorite was they showed the uh the Bedford United Church. Yes.
SPEAKER_07That's real.
SPEAKER_05We saw that. They might have canceled Mass today to watch the game.
SPEAKER_07I highly doubt that, but yeah, I don't think Jebus would be happy. Jeebus might be all right. He might be, yeah. But yeah, like you said, like, you know, okay. Church people are still hockey fans. Yeah, of course, man. And church people go to hockey games, and church people have kids that play hockey. The joke would be as we were saying downstairs, you know, it's in the church. It's like for fuck's sake!
Medal Count, Moncton Pride, And Perspective
SPEAKER_07They're like, oh, for father. Yeah, in the box. Wait, the confessional. Listen, I'll go back to it for a second.
SPEAKER_05What you want, it's exactly what you want. A gold medal game. Best players in the world. Best players in the world. It goes to overtime. It's un I mean, I'll I'll flat out say it. I'm not a fan of three on three. I never have been.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, like we said, what did we say when it was happening? One mistake. One mistake, yeah. It's not who's gonna win, it's who's gonna lose it. One mistake, Canada made a mistake. They they anyway, they pinched and got caught.
SPEAKER_05It's yeah, but it's you know, this both both games now uh, you know, went to overtime, Canada women and Canada men both went to overtime, both lost in overtime to the Americans. It's uh couldn't ask for better, a better finish, though, like in two gold medal games. Right. Well, sorry, Canadians could ask for a better finish.
SPEAKER_07Correct.
SPEAKER_05But if you're a hockey fan, if you're a hockey fan, in general, you don't have a lot of you don't have a stake in the game, then you couldn't ask for a better, a better way.
SPEAKER_07No, it's it was it was good, it was good hockey. But we okay, well, let's go back and talk about that then. So people are like, oh, little NHL players shouldn't be playing in the in the Olympics. Why? Okay, well, we want to see the injuries, right?
SPEAKER_05Injuries. So this is the first time in what we look at they it was 2014, was the last time.
SPEAKER_07Last time the NHL, you know.
SPEAKER_05So they let them in and not just Sydney, there's like well, four four guys that got injured, all NHL players. So once again, again, we're giving a lot of money to these guys to get the players.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, and and the goal is not to win an Olympic medal, the goal is to win a Stanley Cup.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_07So at the end of the day, these players are owned by the corporations that they play for. You're an employee. They're doing you a f nobody gets paid to go play in the Olympics, right? You you play for your country for the love of the game.
SPEAKER_05And which is but which again, like anybody that plays for their country, you know, is is representing their country and is very proud to do it. But 100%.
SPEAKER_07Like a lot of people don't get the chance to do that, right?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_07So, but you know, you got to look at both sides and go, well, they should be allowed. Yeah, okay, we know they should be, but it's a liability if they get hurt because you're paying so many millions of dollars to somebody. Now they come back in at y'all and go, oh, well, they're out for the rest of the year. Yeah, we're gonna do it. We don't know how long Sydney's out for.
SPEAKER_05So, you know, and and this is a conversation that's happened over the years so many times, but you know, the Olympics were meant to be for amateur athletes. Yep. And uh, you know, for years that's what was going. Amateur athletes were going da-da-da-da. Then they changed it and then all of a sudden the dream team went because the Americans were tired of not winning at their sport.
SPEAKER_07That's right.
SPEAKER_05And uh, so I can't remember. Did the NHL. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
SPEAKER_07The Americans don't want to win at their sport, Canadians had been a basketball, sir.
SPEAKER_05Well, you know what I mean.
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_05Um, the uh but like when did the NHL start going? I don't remember. Was it right after the dream?
SPEAKER_07Fact checking it, you would think. What?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. Well, I know that we're just playing. Of course, we know, man. But yeah.
SPEAKER_07Although Peach Bassets, bro.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, Pete's Bassets, but they you know, but the the Hall of Fame, basketball Hall of Fame's in Massachusetts.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, shut up. That makes no sense to me. Yeah. Anyway.
SPEAKER_05Um, but yeah, I can't remember when NHL players went, but it's it is a it is a risk that these guys that get paid. Like when you saw the salaries for the teams, like I saw the total salaries. Oh, yeah, it's crazy. Uh, US were almost 200 million each, and then the Swedes and the and and and Finland, and you know, like these guys were like 150 million each or whatever, and as you go down, the top teams were always like you know, yeah.
SPEAKER_07But yeah, I mean, look how good that Finnish team was, though. Oh that was a good team. They were good. Barely had any NHL players. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05They kept saying Slovakia was punching against uh you know above their weight, and then uh you know the last two games against the Americans and then against the Finns, it like kind of you know showed or whatever, right?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, they yeah, they got it, right?
SPEAKER_05So poor Sweden didn't get in. Yeah, poor Sweden. Swedes always are good.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, well that's the thing, right? Yeah, okay, so now we gotta do it. Basketball.
SPEAKER_05All right.
SPEAKER_07The old school people, like you said, are still complaining about
NHL Players At The Olympics: Risk Vs Reward
SPEAKER_07the all-star tournament or game or whatever they want East versus West. I liked the format. I thought all the games are good. Everybody played defense from the first tip of the ball.
SPEAKER_05I didn't watch it, but yeah.
SPEAKER_07I watched all of them, they were great games. I couldn't believe Kawhi Leonard actually played.
SPEAKER_05Kawhi Leonard like had game number two, went crazy, didn't he? Crazy 30. They just kept feeding him.
SPEAKER_07Even Kevin Durant passed the ball together. It was nuts. Yeah. And we're like, where is this? Where is this been? Even even the Clippers owners probably like, What just happened? Yeah. He for who?
SPEAKER_05Uh but they they you know, at the end of the day, they said, was it more competitive?
SPEAKER_07It sounded like it was 100%, dude. It was like a real game.
SPEAKER_05MB said did what he said he was gonna do, came out and like actually like had like five blocks in the first game.
SPEAKER_07Oh, he wanted to win bad. He was so mad when they screwed up. Yeah, but yeah, no, it was good. I I like it. Like, but you know, the slam dunk is still shit, but whatever. Yeah, but yeah, that form keep that format.
SPEAKER_05He's not the here, the only thing. I don't want to see 200-point games. But you get like, you know, so Shea didn't play. Luca and Joker, Joker played like five minutes each or whatever, and then chose not to play, right? Like, so you get the best players in the world, which Anthony uh you know Edwards came out and said, Well, yeah, man, everybody keeps saying the best player in the world are are like not from the US. So we wanted to come out and show that you know that's not true. We are the best, right? Yeah, and uh, which is fair, but when the the three best players are play, Luca, Joker, and then you throw Giannis in there, right? Like they are the best players in the NBA right now, but if they don't want to play or they have zero desire to like put effort out, what are you gonna do? Like I thought we talked about last week when they were going at KD going, are you guys gonna be competitive? And KD's like, Why aren't you asking uh you know Luca and Joker this question, right? And Luca and Joker came out and said, Well, hey man, when I came into the league, this is the way it was. Like, why why are we to think that it's different, right? Yeah, that's right. But Edwards Edwards took a shot at them afterwards too, after he won MVP, right?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he was shocked he won MVP, though.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, but he made a comment about Luca and Joker not playing either, right? Not taking it serious.
SPEAKER_07So I don't even listen to me honest with you, I don't find Luca takes it seriously even during an NBA game. Yeah, that's that can be true. I just don't. I just I think he could be I don't know, he needs a slap or something.
SPEAKER_05I don't know. They they tried to copy the format. The four nations, the NHL last year was was fantastic. Yeah, it was great. It was so good, right? So um uh the NBA tried to do something different. It was better this year. I everybody every hundred percent. The dunk contest, blue eye, KD all went, oh, I still like East versus West. I still think that's the way but nobody like I get it. You guys are out there, you're having fun, nobody's playing, taking it too seriously. I stopped watching when it was just guys just doing nothing but chucking. When they start chucking half court and laughing about it, it's like all right, I get it. It's your it's an all-star game, you're not taking it too serious, but take it more serious than that, right? I nobody wants to see 400 points scored in a game. Like, that's just not fair.
SPEAKER_07We don't we that's just a regular NBA game, yeah. Yeah, that's nowadays, it's just a regular NBA game, right? Anyway, it's uh so anyway.
SPEAKER_05If it worked, I think that they they they should stick with it, right?
SPEAKER_07I think I think they should stick with it, you know. Um Kyrie Irving out for the season. Oh, yeah, okay. Right, yeah. Uh what was it? Keyley's, right? Yeah, I think so. Yeah, Keyley's. So he's why is he out for the season? Very simple. He's old, it takes a long time to recover from that injury, right? So they'll bring him back next.
SPEAKER_05Dallas is also like they're gonna be able to get away.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, well, why would you bring him back when you're give him the year to rest up?
SPEAKER_05Let Cooper Flag pretend he's winning shit. But Cooper hasn't even played the last two or three years. Yeah, he's hurt too.
SPEAKER_07Somebody else just got out uh broken something, a hand, somebody broke with their hand.
SPEAKER_05Another high-level player, yeah. They're gonna be. Oh, uh uh, and I what is that Jackson there that used to be from Memphis, just got traded, he's done for the season, had season uh surgery. Yeah, I think on his knee, I think.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, oh well.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Uh oh, by the way, I'm gonna call it now. I'm just looking at the trade stuff. I said it to you earlier. Giannis and his troop family are gonna go to the Lakers over the summer. That's what I'm thinking. We'll see.
SPEAKER_05We'll see.
SPEAKER_07We'll see.
SPEAKER_05How are the Lakers paying for all of this?
SPEAKER_07I don't know, but we'll figure it out later.
SPEAKER_05Well, I guess if LeBron doesn't have a contract next year, there's that's a bunch of money.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, there you go, right? Yeah, there you go. Uh uh speaking to somebody who's chasing contracts, James Harden doing really well in Cleveland, Mike.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, he's I think he's playing well.
SPEAKER_07Five and oh. Or sorry, oh and five. Yeah, they have not won since Harden's been they're playing, he's playing great. I thought they won their first game back, but Miami are zero. Oh wow, none. So Harden's still jumping around and just can't make a team win. What are you gonna do? What are you gonna do? What do we got else other than Harden there? Oh right. Woo-hoo on that. But uh Yeah, I don't care about Harden. Yeah, nobody cares about Harden, right? So we got East right now, we got Pistons, Celtics, Cavs, we got West, we got Thunder, Spurs, and the Nuggets.
All-Star Weekend: Defense, Drama, And Dunks
SPEAKER_05So I was just telling you about this. I don't know if you saw this or not, with the the Lakers-Clippers game. And uh they were asking Chuck and Kenny and those guys, like, you know, what do you think? What you know, what's your takeaways from this? And I asked like Chuck to go, what's your takeaway from this? He goes, nothing. Because they're still a garbage team, because they're not gonna make it. He goes, they might win. But the Lakers is what they say. They might win a playoff series, maybe, but he goes, depends on where they sit in the standings. He goes, because they're not beating the Spurs, they're not beating the they're not beating the Rockets, they're not beating the uh the the Thunder or whatever, right? Right, and then at the that the you know, in the background, there's Austin Reeves with his headphones on, listening to the stuff. Wait, wait to be interviewed. Yeah, waiting to be interviewed, and Ernie goes, so did you hear all that? He goes, I did. And he goes, What do you think about that? He goes, Well, everybody's entitled to their opinion, but then you could just see like he just wanted to get out of that interview, it's like so fast, right?
SPEAKER_07Did Chuck know he was waiting?
SPEAKER_05No, Chuck didn't know he was waiting in the big. Yeah, they gotta fix that better, right? Yeah, what was I don't think Chuck cares, but uh yeah, doesn't care.
SPEAKER_07Well, wait a minute, what was the other thing you were talking about? You were saying Chuck and Shaq were uh They got into a bit of a heated idea.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, tell that story because they they asked again, same kind of thing. They said Carl Anthony Towns is playing soft, and then they bring Carl Anthony Towns on, and and Chuck's you know, Shaq says, Well, you know, if if if if New York wins, Brunson's gonna get all the attention. But if you know, if you guys lose, like it's gonna be on you, and he goes, So you need to go out there and you need to play hard or whatever. And uh The saying he's too soft, saying he's too he is he doesn't he's not doesn't play, he doesn't play overly aggressive, right?
SPEAKER_07For the size of the man, yeah. I agree. He should be.
SPEAKER_05But they said, you know, towns like you know said, well, you know, that's it doesn't matter at the end of the day, it's about winning a ring. So who gets the blame, who gets the credit? Like, it doesn't matter at the end of the day. And Shaq Shaq did not like the answer. Shaq was trying to say that not everybody is built uh the same way from a mental standpoint.
SPEAKER_07Yep, here we go at the mental, right?
SPEAKER_05That you know, like not everybody has that same instinct, like the Jordans, the Kobe's, the people like that. Not everybody has that. So Carl Anton Town's a great player, super nice guy. He's not gonna be that guy, yeah.
SPEAKER_07He's too nice, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and Shaq didn't agree. Shaq says he has to be, and Charles was like, but not everybody's built like that.
SPEAKER_07Well, remember, half of Carl Anthony's family freaking died during COVID, too, man. Oh, yeah, like he lost a lot of people in his family.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I know he lost a mom and an uncle, I think an uncle.
SPEAKER_07At least two that I know of, at least two, but yeah, yeah, exactly. Well, you know, Shaq could have been a problem if he was an angry man, right? Well, that's what Barclays said.
SPEAKER_05Not everybody can be like you, you were out there like throwing elbows trying to hurt people. Shaq goes, Yeah, I was.
SPEAKER_07But there was no fouls against Shaq barely. He'd had to like literally grab a hold of him and clang onto him.
SPEAKER_05Shaq always tells a story, and I love this story. He said he, you know, he went out and there was Jordan coming at him, he goes, I'm not letting that guy put me on a poster. So he hammered him. And then he turned around to help him up, and Jordan says, Never help a guy, never help my good foul, big fella. Right? And he goes, That was a lesson there. He goes, like, you know, there's nothing, nothing there but respect, but like, you know, don't help me up, don't show that, right? Yeah, so that's where Shaq was in that era, so of course he has that mentality, right?
SPEAKER_07Just too nice. I'm I remember uh they interviewed Shaq years ago, years ago, and they asked him, you know, how did you ever get in to playing basketball? Do you know the story? No, they were playing pickup. Uh Shaq's dad was in the military, apparently. Yeah, so they're playing pickup on the on the base, right? And he's playing with like college kids, right? And so the guy goes over and he asks Shaq, so what school are you in? He's like, uh, something, something elementary. Guy's like, what? Yeah, because he was so in university, and he goes, That's why I learned that I was bigger than everybody else. And he's like, Okay, that's crazy, right? So, what university are you in, son? Yeah, uh whatever elementary school grade six or whatever. Grade six elementary.
SPEAKER_08Like, holy shit.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, okay. So we talked about this mental thing briefly. You brought that up. I'm gonna go off on this. Oh no. Yeah, um I'm listening an athlete, you're an athlete. We well, we used to be an athlete. I'm gonna say stupid armchair athlete. That too. I could barely sit in the armchair. Yeah. Everybody now, everybody says now, and it just drives me bananas. You know, they interview somebody. Oh, you know, I'm just happy to be here. I was gone through a lot of mental challenges over the last. Okay. Stop. Time out, just a fucking minute. Here's the problem with this. Everybody is going through mental struggles in every aspect of life. Not just an athlete, everybody. A mom that can't pay a rent, you got two kids, a kid that's sick, can't buy glasses, you got a car problem, I don't have extra money to change the flat. I don't know. It's not just athletes that have mental problems, the entire world has mental problems, okay? It's how you get through it and come out on the other side that makes you a better person, whether you're an athlete or not.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_07But for me to have every athlete's, well, I had a lot of mental. No shit. Everybody knows you had mental struggles. We all have. And then I heard the announcer say this. It was the drunk one I was telling you. We were watching her. I don't know what her name is. We're
Stars, Injuries, And Trade Speculation
SPEAKER_07not going to mention names, but she looks drunk to me. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. She's like, Well, you know, uh, athletes, it's not the game on the ice, it's the six inches between your ears. No kidding. Why do you think they all have mental coaches? All right, like honestly. So for an athlete to keep saying, Oh, I had mental struggles, everybody has mental struggles. You're an athlete. You're supposed to get coached through that. Most people don't have okay. So here's another thing fair enough, yeah.
SPEAKER_05In that sense, yeah, that you're supposed to like look at look at uh Simone Biles who came out and said, you know, she withdrew from the Olympics that year because she got, I don't know what they call it. Like, I know in golf they call it the Yips or whatever, right?
SPEAKER_07But like Oh, you mean when she was in Japan and she couldn't take her medication?
SPEAKER_05Well, I don't know what it was, but it doesn't matter. That's what it was. She withdrew because she, you know, if you're mentally, you've got to be in there. If you're not, like, you run the risk of really injuring yourself in some of these sports. Well, especially in gymnastics. I she probably made the right choice to withdraw, right? Like, if she's not a good one, she did.
SPEAKER_07But the true story is behind that, which they swept under the rug very quickly, is Simone Biles has ADHD, and she's been taking medication for that since she's a little kid. In Japan, it's illegal, even in the country for her med. So she couldn't take it. So now she's off her meds. You're gonna go play a game or do gymnastics, not a chance in hell.
SPEAKER_08Right.
SPEAKER_07So is that a mental problem? Yes, it's a mental problem because now she's mentally destroyed because she's not taking the drug that keeps her like this. Another mental struggle.
SPEAKER_05Look at like yeah, look at I mean again, like sports. Look at look at golf. Like I said, you miss a shot. Oh, yeah, you could you could that could that could be the end of your get round.
SPEAKER_07Yep.
SPEAKER_05Uh a goalie lets in a weak goal, like all of a sudden now he's the next time down, he's like, I can't let another week one in. You're in, you get in your head real quick. You gotta have that. It goes back to what we were just talking about. That you know, some people are built different than others, right?
SPEAKER_07Colby Bryant, mamba mentality. He goes, I don't care what just happened, I'm focused on what's happening next. That's what you gotta do, not just in athletics, everybody. That's what you need to do.
SPEAKER_05Oh, you were oh, you know, three three for fifteen or whatever, you know, like what did they what happened to you during the game, you know, to to make to make it so tough for you to score? And he's like, Life, I guess. And then, you know, she could tell the reporter could tell he didn't like the question. And he's like, Well, in all series, he's like, Where I was getting with that is like, you know, what did you how did you overcome that or whatever? And it's at the end of the day, he's like, I don't know. He goes, you know, I was passive during the you know, during the butt you know, when it came time, when it came game, you know, games on the line, it came down to it, he said, I don't know, something clicks, I guess, right? And that and that's just it, right?
SPEAKER_07It's uh that's the levels, yeah. There's levels to everything, right? You know, you hear this in in MMA, especially. You hear, you know, oh, this guy and that guy and this guy, and then you go, okay, well, yeah, I'm a black belt in this. Not me personally, but you know, somebody's speaking, I'm a black belt in this, I got this, okay. I'm gonna go roll with this guy. And the guy just turns you into pretzel and strangles you, and you go, oh, right, there's levels. Yeah, there's levels to it. There's levels. And if in MMA, if you're not at the level, you're gonna get strangled, you're gonna get knocked the fuck out.
SPEAKER_05Look at like I remember that commercial, the Nike commercial years ago where Michael Jordan was like, I've missed more shots than I've made, right? Like, you know, look at Kobe Bryant in that playoff series. I think it was against uh San Antonio, who's I think I don't know if it was his rookie or his second year. We airballed a three and then went and tried the next next time down the court. He tried again, airballed another one, like, but he just kept going. It didn't stop him, it didn't shake his confidence in the least, right? And yeah, whereas some people were like, Oh, I I airballed the last one, I can't shoot now. And they also passed the case.
SPEAKER_08Oh, you mean Ben Simmons?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, like Ben Simmons. Exactly. That's a perfect point. Ben Simmons passed, missed it, missed a couple of easy ones, and then all of a sudden, like the guy's career went because he couldn't, because now he couldn't shoot a shot.
SPEAKER_07Find out the basket for a layup to win, throws it back outside. Huh?
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Okay, there's another guy. People don't know about this guy. Boston Red Sox, shortstop, no Mar Garcia Parra. Just one day, throwing from second base, could not hit the first baseman. Mental block had to retire from baseball. Yeah, just couldn't do
TNT Dust-Ups And Mental Toughness
SPEAKER_07it anymore. I know people say, oh, that's him. People have mental blocks all the time and all kinds of things. You ever hear a writer's block?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so I guess at the end of the day, I don't think it's not it's not true what they're saying. It 100% is true. They had to overcome something, but everybody like that.
SPEAKER_07Everybody, every day has to overcome. Yeah, you want to know how you want to how many times this guy overcomes something? He drives so far to go to work with all these arseholes on the road. Every day he's overcoming craziness. Every day, I'm surprised he hasn't, you know, come home, kick the cat.
SPEAKER_05I would never kick my cat.
SPEAKER_07He would never do that. That's that's true. I've yeah, bad people do that. Yes. My point is mental. Everybody's mental. Everybody has mental problems. We have mental problems. I might have more than most. He might have more than most. We don't know. We don't go to a shrink. Should we? Maybe.
SPEAKER_06Maybe, right? Sure.
SPEAKER_07So here's the person you don't want to hang out with, though, Mike. This was a recent conversation I had. Not with this person. Two of us were just talking in this one place. And then this other person comes in and goes, Yeah, my therapist said that. We both went. What? Like, okay, okay. I applaud you that you're going to see somebody to make you better.
SPEAKER_01Sure.
SPEAKER_07But I don't think it's smart to say it out loud in front of people you don't know. I didn't really know this person.
SPEAKER_05Why don't you think it's smart to say that?
SPEAKER_07Well, because I don't know this person.
SPEAKER_05Oh, right.
SPEAKER_07So you mean like you're in your Yeah, like keep it to your friend circle. Like we were in a place where you know just a bunch of people talking. Sure. And then and I'm like, I don't know you. Like, why are you telling me you're going to a therapist? I've never really talked to you before. Yeah, that's I guess you know what I mean. But like I said, good for you that you're bettering yourself.
SPEAKER_05Like, depend on the generation. Like our generation was you keep it, keep it to yourself. No, I think we talked about it before. You know, you know, little girls are encouraged to cry and let it out. That's just little girls being emotional. Little boys are told, don't cry, don't cry, don't let them see weakness. Like, that's just built that was built into our generation from the time we were like born, right? So yeah, it's definitely different. Like, go look at our parents. Like, they don't, you know, they don't talk about anything.
SPEAKER_07You get in trouble if you do.
SPEAKER_05That's right.
SPEAKER_07Right. Why'd you say that? Well, because it happened, yeah, but we can't tell people it happened. Who cares?
SPEAKER_05And I think we said it before, like our generation was told kids are meant to be seen, not heard. Like, it's not like that anymore, right?
SPEAKER_07Well, we also were always outside anyway, so nobody saw us anyway. Right nowadays, goes, goes, goes, goes, go.
SPEAKER_05Make sure you're home before it's too dark.
SPEAKER_07Oh, we didn't get that. We got in supper! Oh, it's supper time. You just called in for supper. Dad the street at kilometers.
SPEAKER_08Whose voice uh mom's that? Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Doesn't matter. That means it's supper. We're all going. We're all going. See you after supper, okay. You know, whatever. So yeah. All right. I think we covered everything today, Mike. I think uh we got on the.
SPEAKER_05Call out your cue card and see, I guess.
SPEAKER_07I want to make sure. Listen, I told you before the reason I have this right here is because I'm forgetting things that I wanted to talk about, and some of them are important, and some people are expecting us to talk about that. So this is why we're using this. You might see this again. All right.
SPEAKER_05No, I'm assuming it's not going away.
SPEAKER_07It's not going away.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Right? And the older I get, the worse it's gonna be because I'm gonna need a cue card. That's right. I'm not that stupid. All right, so Olympics, good job, Canada. We need to do better. Summer Olympics. Oh, oh, wait. Hang on.
SPEAKER_06Uh-oh.
SPEAKER_07The commercials with our Canadian athletes, you are making us look like morons. You were going on about this. Dude, we were watching the game. I was like, Mike, this is how stupid is this shit. Spooner! Like, she's a great player, just made her look like a dumbass. Not to mention, if little girls are watching her going, she's a dork. I don't want to like uh Nathan McKinnon flicking Kleenex to some dude and holding Tylenol in the end of his hockey stick, he's probably in the back of the thinking, what the fuck am I doing with it?
SPEAKER_05Well, that's just it. They're giving, they're paid a bunch of money to go do this, and something some brilliant writing team kind of came up with this whole storyboard, and some directors out there saying, Okay, give it, you know, when you throw the spoon down, maybe yell Spooner. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07There's another one.
SPEAKER_05I haven't seen it, by the way.
SPEAKER_07I don't I don't see a lot of it's has something to do with protein. Um she puts it in, Spooner!
SPEAKER_05Like, I'm like, oh, that's you came in, we came in and worked about worked up about the commercials today.
SPEAKER_07Oh man, and then there's another one, it's got like two top hockey players, and it's like for RBC or some stupid bank. And all banks are stupid, sorry, RBC. But in general, it's like, you know, uh if it okay, if Mike and Bobby D, instead of being hockey players, we're like architects, and then it shows us like in a in a you know, but before that it goes, if they're and then they're shooting threes, they're hockey players. Like, what what are we doing?
SPEAKER_05Like, ah, it's just yeah, listen, I'm not I'm not ever tuning into a commercial with an athlete thinking that they're gonna knock it out of the park, mind you.
SPEAKER_07No, but I was just I was just every one of them like, why are you making our athletes look so bad? Yeah. I didn't see any American stupid uh things like this, right? Well, okay, I'll give you this one though. They show the uh the Wheaties box.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_07That's a good one. It shows uh the girl, young girl looking at the Wheaties box of uh one of the ladies back in the day, and it shows her old, and now she's on the box,
Everyday Pressure Vs Athlete Mindset
SPEAKER_07and now she shows another young girl looking at the box, and she walked by and said, That's a great commercial. Hey, man, she didn't be young. The Wheaties commercials, and the Wheaties box was a huge thing, right? You'd like to be able to do that.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah, if you were on the Wheaties box, that was a big deal.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that's right. See who the new person is, right? Anyone even eat Wheaties anymore? I have no idea, man. Maybe it's Cheerios now. I don't know, but I don't know. Yeah. All right, so uh we didn't get any crazy emails. Maybe you are. I'm still in the oats. But uh yeah. So we didn't get any crazy emails this week. We didn't get anybody asking to be on. I think we set the record straight last time. When we get bigger and our tech guy comes back from the problems he's dealing with, we'll figure something out. All right, but uh you can still watch us on Buzz Sprout, which shows all the things. Everybody's watching us and hearing us on Spotify. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_06Sure.
SPEAKER_07You can watch it on my actual channel, Muscle and Fiction, with Coach Bobby. That's still doing well. I'm still making videos on that. And uh overall, I think Olympics this year was pretty good. If we were giving our definitely two thumbs up on that.
SPEAKER_05I watched it on the old uh CBC gem the whole time, so it was nice to be able to just throw that up on the TV. The old CBC that out, yeah. Although we were talking earlier today, there's like a lot of dead air, though, too.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I don't know where all the commercials are, but they just kept showing this one thing in uh Milano, this one uh like gate of some kind, and then you can hear in the background some lady on a speaker every hour on the hour will be showing them like what's going on. How cheap are you, CBC? Come on. I mean, didn't the Liberal government give you all kinds of money? Isn't that true? I guess, yeah. I was pretty sure, but anyway, yeah, it is what it is. All right, so uh we'll see you next week, and Olympics will be over and we'll be back to basketball full time.
SPEAKER_05And we'll go from there.
SPEAKER_07Second half of the season. Second half of the season. Go, Lakers, go, Boston. Yep, peace.
