Chuck Norris Laughs At Your Gas Bill
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Gas prices are making everyone feral, and nothing tests your patience like a sunny day followed by 15 to 20 centimeters of snow. We start with the everyday stuff that actually matters, driving costs, tire change timing, and the feeling that you can’t go anywhere without paying for it. From there we get practical about electric vehicles and hybrid cars, including why a hybrid that stretches a tank to near 1,000 kilometers can change your whole monthly budget, and why workplace charging makes the “go electric” argument feel a lot more real.
Then the future shows up in traffic. We talk self-driving cars, why it’s not just Tesla anymore, and the uneasy gap between impressive driver-assist technology and the messy reality of sensors, pedestrians, and what happens when the system gets it wrong. From there we jump into sports and politics with the World Cup and Iran’s concerns about playing in the United States, plus the bigger issue of how countries and people get stereotyped depending on who’s telling the story.
We close out with a fast run of what we can’t stop watching: Paralympics moments that are genuinely jaw-dropping, RCMP road enforcement around seatbelts and distracted driving, Kurt Cobain conspiracy chatter, Chuck Norris memes, and a big stretch of basketball talk covering injuries, the NBA MVP debate around Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and why traveling and the gather step make fans lose their minds. If you like March Madness, we’ve got that chaos too, blown leads, missed timeouts, and the kind of refereeing that lights up group chats. Subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find us.

Weather Whiplash And Winter Fatigue
SPEAKER_02It now, son of a Trump and Net and Yahoo. Yeah, yeah, he's a Yahoo, all right. Yeah, listen, the straight of what is it? Uh Moose. Who moose? Hormoes, yeah. Hormuz. Yeah. Open it. I'm tired of paying a hundred dollars for film a cast. This is bullshit, man. People got their hot rods out, those shined up, and I'm like, okay. And then I'm like, this is nice in a hair. 15 to 20 centimeters of snow to where I'm like, son of a p. Like everybody, welcome back to You Would Think with Bobby D and Mikey D. And nice weather and a snowstorm. So right now it's beautiful out. It's like sunny. Uh when I when I on the way in, I saw some people got their hot rods out, little shined up, and I'm like, okay. And then I'm like, this is nice in a hair. 15 to 20 centimeters of snow tomorrow. I'm like, son of a bitch. Like what?
SPEAKER_01Yep. Uh, I've had enough. I know. I told you, man. You said you got your cars you booked in to get the tires at the 30 of them. A week from Monday. We can still get, you know, update.
SPEAKER_02You will still get snow. Well, you know what, those days, I won't drive. No, that's pretty much it, right? Yeah.
Gas Prices And Going Electric
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So that's not why I'm mad. I'm mad at the gas costs too much, you prick.
SPEAKER_01That's another thing.
SPEAKER_02Somebody, I don't know who I'm gonna mad at. Trump, I guess. You're getting it now. Son of a Trump and net and Yahoo. Yeah. Yeah, he's a Yahoo, all right. Yeah. Listen, the straight of what is it? Uh Moose. Who moo's? Hormuz, yeah. Hormuz. Yeah. Open it. I'm tired of paying $100 for film a gas. This is bullshit, man. Right? And then I was telling you about our podcast last week. I got a smart ass because, oh, you guys live in Halifax. You can walk from end to end in 15 minutes. Yeah, you can't.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I can't. Dude, the bigfoot couldn't.
SPEAKER_02Do you live in Halifax, bro? And Halifax isn't just Halifax, it's HRM is huge. Right? You have to buy gas unless you're gonna. Oh, maybe it's time to go electric, Mike. Maybe.
SPEAKER_01That's I'm sure that the electric uh car companies out there right now are probably pushing it. I haven't been paying attention, but I'm sure there's out there. Me either. But I'm having issues with gas.
SPEAKER_02Switch to electric. Well, my my car guy that sold me my car, he drives a Lexus hybrid. Oh, yeah. And he says, I get a thousand clicks of tank. Like what?
SPEAKER_01I told you, my I have a friend of mine that uh she has uh she has the hybrid, and uh there's a there's charging stations at work and she charges it up at work, and she she never has to use the only time she uses gas is when she goes on like longer trips. She barely ever has to gas up.
SPEAKER_02That's incredible. That's incredible, but I don't want to maybe an electric car. I see a few Teslas around town.
SPEAKER_01They're gonna get the the technology is gonna keep getting better and better as well, right?
SPEAKER_02I do not know this, sir. Maybe you didn't know this. I watched the car drive by me. Lady like this.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Hands behind her head. I don't know if that was on purpose. Maybe she driving with her with her uh legs. You know how you can put your legs in the steering wheel. Yes, but I I looked at the car and it was a Ford, but I didn't recognize the Ford. So then I went home and I researched it. It drives by fucking self. It's one of these automated, like a Tesla.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, okay, so now they're out there. So now it's not just Tesla, now Ford has one.
SPEAKER_01Sure.
SPEAKER_02So who else is gonna have one of these? Now we don't need a driver, I could sit in the back.
SPEAKER_01Great. So now you're driving, it's like all of a sudden it stops working. It's like, shit, what do I do?
SPEAKER_02You better get back in the front seat.
SPEAKER_01Have you tried restarting it? Have you tried turning it off and on again?
SPEAKER_02Well, you know what that reminded me of when I saw her doing that was uh Anchorman 2, Ron Burgundy, but they're in the RV and they're all playing cards in the back. Oh, yeah. Paul Rudd says he goes, Who's driving? No, it's automatic, it drives by itself.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Oh my god. Anyway, I think there's been instances of those vehicles, like not uh the sensors not properly recognizing pedestrians or whatever it is, and like actually like getting into the accident. So it's not again the technology's there, but it's not just not perfected.
SPEAKER_02Listen, I don't I wouldn't be, you know, anyway. Yeah. I think it's nuts.
World Cup Tension Around Iran
SPEAKER_02All right. So we got a couple other things. Got me cue card, Mikey. World Cup. Go figure on this one. I'm laughing because it's funny, but it's not funny because it's serious, but it's funny, stupid. So Iran says they don't feel comfortable playing in the US. They'd like to play their games in Mexico. And the World Cup goes, fuck you, you're playing in the U.S. And why are they not feeling good, Mike? Well, I think well, I think we're laughing because it's so stupid that he says the stupidest shit.
SPEAKER_01I think Uncle Donnie said I don't I can't know. I don't know if they'll be safe if they come to our country. Yeah. It's like they're just Iranians are like, what did you just say? You don't know if we're gonna be safe. It's not a team made up of the whatever the National Guard, what are they called? The the the Republics? The Oh the Republican Guard? Yeah, yeah, it's not a team made up of them, it's just a bunch of soccer players, man. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Well, you see that the uh the female soccer team, the Iranian team, was over in Australia and like five or six of the players or something like that, maybe maybe it was eight players, like actually claimed asylum, but then a bunch of them withdrew their claims afterwards. So I would assume that they probably all went and claimed asylum and it all got win that you know their families have all been threatened. Well, we know that, right? That that's what happens.
SPEAKER_02Iran's sons of bitches, right? They killed that wrestler, that young fella.
SPEAKER_01So I thought they just executed him, yeah, because he because he like protested against the government or whatever, right?
SPEAKER_02That's the second high-level world wrestler they killed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, crazy.
SPEAKER_02You're not gonna win the Olympics, you keep killing off your athletes. But they don't care. Their whole idea is like, well, it doesn't matter who you are, if you open your mouth, you're fucked. Yeah. It's the same thing they said. They drew it back because they said, Oh, this is your mom, look. Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_01But I did see you have I mean, you get where crazy where you know the the soccer, is it I guess it's FIFA, is coming from, right? They're like these games have already been scheduled for tickets, tickets have already sold sold. So people have already flights, hotels, whatever, right?
SPEAKER_02Right, sure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, sure. So you get why, like this late in the game they can't, you know, we're only a few months away from it, right? So you gotta understand why this late in the game they can't.
SPEAKER_02Well, you know, I don't want to be a son of a bitch, but it's not like you're gonna win Iran. You're like 35th in the world. Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_01So I don't blame them for being like, well, fuck, like, are we gonna get attacked while we're there? But I mean Well, you know what?
SPEAKER_02If you pull out, it just uh makes the brackets a lot easier for everybody else.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But I understand, like when the end of the consciousness, I can't guarantee your safety. Well, you gotta remember some of those boys shot at him. So he doesn't care about your safety at this point. You shot at me, sons of bitches. Anyway.
How Places Get Misjudged
SPEAKER_01Uh just like everywhere, right? Every every place has its bad apples, man. Yep. What'd you always used to say? Like uh, you know, the what what what the world would see as in for some of these Middle Eastern countries or whatever is what you would expect. So if you're in the Middle East, what you see is a bunch of gut and totan kind of rednecks or whatever down in the states, like and and like portrayed as that is all of North America, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Remember, there's in all the Middle Eastern countries I lived in, there ain't no crime.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02The only crime is the Nigerians selling drugs to the Arabs and they get caught because they didn't get a good price.
SPEAKER_00That's right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. So because uh you can go look it up on the internet, people. There's stories and stories and stories. You can take a $50,000 Rolex, put it on top of your Range Rover sport in the parking lot with a thousand people around for eight hours, come back, it's still there. Because everybody's terrified. They go to prison, and you know what happens over there. Sure. Well, Saudi, they cut off your hands, bro. Right? That's real. Go look it up. They cut off your hands if you steal shit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And by the way, Saudi is run by the religious factions, not the police. So good luck with that. Right? All right. Now, on top of that, different way to live, man. Crazy. It was crazy over there, man. It was crazy. And like I said, I was living in some of the places that are being bombed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I know you were. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Right? Well, that's what I figure when they say they should see.
SPEAKER_01This place was bombed, that place was bombed. You'd probably know where some of them are.
SPEAKER_02You should see the job boards on the international.
SPEAKER_01Oh, really? Dude, all kinds of jobs.
SPEAKER_02Call your call your parts. Oh, yeah. Crazy. What you do, you could probably go over there and get three times as much. Yeah. Right? Anyway. All right. I know you're right. Right.
Paralympics Skill And Curling Takes
SPEAKER_02So Paralympics are over.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_0215 medals. You would think that was good, but it's not because in 2022 we ended up with uh 25. So this year we had three gold, four silver, and eight bronze. Now, I watched a little blurb on this one gentleman. Uh he's blind, he's a blind skier, does the slalom through the through the gates. Sure. Okay. Now they have a handler with them that skis like kind of beside them. Yeah. So weird to watch because the hill is dead silent. Right. So that the they can hear the lady or the man or whatever screaming direct things. And it was I'm just watching it going, oh my god, I can't. Like he went through every single. I'm like, holy shit, I couldn't believe it. Anyway, then when they finally get to the last two, yeah, people are screaming and yelling and hollering. Now we didn't do well. He came like eighth or something, but I just saw it. He 100% blind.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02100%. Can't see anything.
SPEAKER_01I was I saw a clip. They were playing basketball. Same thing. Jim was just dead quiet. Everybody's all lined up. Person's at the free throw line, or we're not quite at the free throw line.
SPEAKER_00They're trying to tell them.
SPEAKER_01And there was somebody sitting there kind of whacking the bar, and the bar is like right in the middle of the of the basket, right? Right. Like on the back behind the backboard, but they're sitting there whacking it.
SPEAKER_02Making the noise.
SPEAKER_01Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
SPEAKER_02So they know where you're.
SPEAKER_01And then the person, you know, is like kind of listening a little bit and shoot and nails it. Unbelievable.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Unbelievable. So skilled. Yeah. So skilled. Listen, I've been watching the curl in the world championships, right? I'm still telling you right now, I don't think you need to sweep. After I watched the Paralympic curling and I went, those shots are just as good as these ladies. And these guys are like, ah, they're harder. I'm like, I don't think so. Anyway, some good shots, by the way, in those games. But you know, uh seems to be a lot of mistakes in those uh this world championships. But oh, okay. Yeah. Well, dude, when you're scoring three, four, and five points in an end.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's kind of crazy.
SPEAKER_02What the hell is the other team doing? Here we go. Yeah. Like, good luck. But anyway, go Canada. We're in the semifinal.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. Oh, Canada's a good curling country. Yeah, man. Good curling country.
Chuck Norris Memes And Legacy
SPEAKER_02Oh, our good friend Chuck Norris.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_0286 years old. And like I was telling you, I just saw a video of him in Hawaii hitting mitts. Yeah, that's crazy. He's like, nothing outlives me. Whatever. And then they said, serious medical emergency, which we figure aneurysm, heart attack. Heart attack. Yeah. Grizzly bear, but he would have beat that. Well, you should see all the memes. Oh, yeah. Like everybody's like, what's your favorite one? Or whatever. Right. And then well, one of the bodyguards came out and he goes, listen, all the funny memes, Chuck Norris loved all of them. You keep doing everybody. He thought they were great. You know, then they go, he's not really dead. Death just gave up or something. Yeah, yeah. All these ones. I'm like, right on, buddy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I'm oh God, of course, off the top of your head when you try to think of some. I remember, you know, when when Chuck Norris does a push-up, he's not actually pushing up, pushing himself. Pushing the earth and away from him. I saw one that said when Chuck Norris was born, when Chuck Norris was a baby, he didn't wear diapers, he didn't have to wear diapers because he would scare the shit out of it.
SPEAKER_02I saw the other one when Chuck Norris was born, he slapped his dad.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, something. Slapped the doctor or something like that.
SPEAKER_02But young kid and he goes, How old are you? He goes, I'm 11. He goes, When I was 11, I was 12.
SPEAKER_00There's so many good ones.
SPEAKER_02Like the best one I remember because it's the one that was off expendables, is the one about the rattlesnake. When they go, Oh, we heard you were bit by a rattlesnake. He goes, Yeah, two, three days in the hospital. It was in agonizing pain, and the rattlesnake finally died. Finally died, yeah. Yeah, I think so. He's I don't know where all these stories came from from Chuck Norris. Just out of nowhere, they just came. People don't know that Chuck Norris was the first one to start the like the MMA stuff. World Karate Combat, Chuck Norris started that bare knuckles. And if you didn't know, Chuck Norris's record was something. I'm I'm gonna quote you a number here, and I could be a little bit off, but I'm telling you it was like this much. 180 wins, like 10 losses and like three draws.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, crazy.
SPEAKER_02Like that much. And this was bare knuckle, you know.
SPEAKER_01Well, he was uh so he did what was it entered the dragon? Was that the one?
SPEAKER_02Well, he did with Bruce Lee. Yeah, yeah, and he actually lost to Bruce Lee in that movie. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so but like I mean, that's where he so he was that's he was like a big from that. He was world-renowned uh martial artists at the time, and so of course. Oh, yeah, he was the Bruce. Put him in that, he did well in that, and that translated translated into an action star.
SPEAKER_02Remember he was Oh, I watched him in Walker, Texas Ranger.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Walker Texas Ranger is the one he's known for the most. That was nine, like nine years. But remember he also did um what else did he do? Oh my god, I want to say like Commandos or not Commando, that's Iron Schwarzenegger, but something like that. Delta Force. There was like his own show called Delta Force back in the 80s. I think they did one or two movies anyway. I I remember liking them when I was a kid. I'd have to go back and try and find those.
SPEAKER_02I'm sure they didn't age well, but yeah, I mean, geez, that's a fella. Like literally just seeing that video a couple days ago, I was so shocked. I thought it was a lie.
SPEAKER_01You know, it's it's funny because it's uh, you know, guys like him, like Bruce Lee, like guys like that, because of the technology that was available at the time, like they had to slow their punches down, slow their fight scenes down so that they could get captured. They told Bruce Lee was way too fast.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Well, the best one was if you saw like in the movie, which it actually happened, they told Bruce Lee to, you know, come down the stairs and do this, and that was it. And he goes, like, did black flips, jumped over the thing, kicked the light out, and the guy's like, cut, cut, cut, and he goes, I thought that'd be more exciting. The guy's like, Good, good. You remember the what it was talking about? Yeah, it's like that's bananas. Yeah, so anyway. Yeah, anyway. Yeah, so yeah, rest. Anyway, supposed to be Chuck Norris, man. Yeah. Now, this is kind of dirty. 86, though, right? We said we don't know if we said that or not, but 86 years old, man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
RCMP Sting And Road Safety
SPEAKER_02Um, RCMP were doing some undercover work in Darkness. Yeah, you were telling me about this. I hadn't they're on the side of the roads a little signs panhandling, and apparently when people tried to give them money, they had to tell them you can't give me money on an RCMP officer. Right. I was like, oh, okay. So what were they doing? Well, they were radioing ahead about certain people that were doing driving infractions. Sure. Uh seat belts, they got a hand. Well, I wrote it down, Mike. They they wrote they said uh 12 people had no seatbelts on. And I said to you, that's a lot of people. That's a lot of people. Who does not wear a seatbelt anymore? Everybody's on man, clicking on.
SPEAKER_01Well, that's horrible, man. Like when you hear about some of these accidents, which are like bad enough as is, you hate hearing about like, you know, accidents, uh like long weekends or whatever always seem to be really bad for it. But like, you know, you hear of people getting thrown from their car because they're not wearing their seatbelt. It is crazy, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, then every once in a while you hear, well, if they didn't get thrown clear, they wouldn't have lived. Like that's another one, too. Sometimes it's like, okay. But chances are, right? Yeah, anyway, it's uh no, another one was like so cell phones. They are no they got nine tickets for talking on cell phones. So here's my problem. If I take my phone and I put it on a clip and it's on my car, actually, I don't have to do that, my car talks anyway. Yeah, so like in my car, and I think your car too, like I just have a screen and I can talk on my phone and text somebody. Is that on my cell phone?
SPEAKER_01It is, but it's yeah, for some reason I think it's uh how you gonna get me on that?
SPEAKER_02I'm not on my phone. My phone can't even see it.
SPEAKER_01It's hands free, right? Hands free. That's what that's why I hit the buttons with my penis. Sure. But your hands, you're not holding a phone the whole time. No, I don't hold a phone ever anyway. But that's my point. That's why that's what they get you on, right? Like it's the other stuff is hands-free. You can still be on like a lot of them are just right on your steering wheel. You don't even have to take your team touch or something. Yeah, you don't have to do anything. But yeah, it's uh uh buddy of mine uh got caught. I don't know if I told you this one or not, but he was pulled up to a red light, stopped, reached over, grabbed his phone, did something on his phone. Got a ticket. What those tickets are worth? Because you're not even even though he was at a light, it's because he didn't have the car in park, he wasn't off the road, he was still on the road and he still I don't play on my phone anyway. Oh, yeah, just easy things. Just play it safe. Put the phone away, man. Yeah. So when I used to travel for work, what I used to do was take my phone and put it into the past the the side of the door on the passenger side so that I couldn't reach it. Okay, so like you could call through the phone, you could call through the car and stuff like that. But if texts come through and things like that, I wasn't tempted to go pick it up and look at it. So it was always just far enough away that I never dealt with it. So you know your limitations, you have to move it away. Move it away because yeah, I didn't want to be well, even I didn't want to be tempted to even be like, oh, I'm gonna pull over. So that's the other thing, is if there was something you needed to check.
SPEAKER_02You could drive in reverse on this road, playing on three phones with your head through the fucking sunroof, and no cop would ever stop you at this road. This road here? There's no cops anywhere to be seen. Oh, on like the main road. Yeah, whatever your road is out there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, every now and then they're there. Every now and then you'll catch them.
SPEAKER_02Well, today I was cooking. I'm like, ah, I look at that white car sitting on the side of the road. And I got close, I'm like, you're not a copy son of a bitch. You're just sitting there.
SPEAKER_01Especially long weekends over by Mabel's, they usually have checkpoints set up trying to get it. Checkpoints. Yeah. Just looking for people drinking, right? Sure. You drank inside.
SPEAKER_02Nope, finished.
SPEAKER_01Yep. Yep. Not right, not at the moment. Yeah.
Kurt Cobain Theories And Handwriting
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02So I was talking to you about this Kirk Cobain thing that they had these experts come out and look at all the things and they identify that that's not his handwriting. Right. And one of the guys that I was watching on the podcast, they made a joke about go, well, you know, his handwriting's not right here because right here's when the heroin cooked in. Like he and his cursive just went right to hell. So they're saying people make more money off, I was gonna say magicians, paper, copper, field, and like off musicians when they're dead. And then we started going on about how many people died at 27. There's an astronomical amount of musicians that died. Janice Job was one, Jimmy Hendrix is one, Chris Cornell. Uh no, Chris Cornell wasn't. Chris Cornell wasn't 27, but yeah, also died. Him and Chester were good friends, apparently. Didn't know that. And they're saying that maybe somebody killed these people at the top of their game. This is a conspiracy, not mine. This uh at the top of their game because then they become immortalized and they make more money when they're dead. Right. And then they said Michael Jackson's made more money now than he ever has, so he's probably somewhere in a farm going, hee hee hee, because they don't think he's dead, right? I'm not sure about that one, but who knows? Where is this buddy again? But uh yeah, I don't know. I thought that was interesting that they pretty much proved that Kirk Cobain did not kill himself. But back in the day, our friend Shane always said, Oh, is that Courtney Love? Well, that was I mean that's 21 of the money.
SPEAKER_01That was uh yeah, that went around for a while when she did it, but yeah.
SPEAKER_02She did she kill all those people? No, no, nah, it was Hillary Clinton. Anyway, all right, yeah, all right, now this was I watched it.
NBA Injuries MVP Fights And Techs
SPEAKER_02Cade Cunningham has a collapsed lung. Yep. All he did was fall down, guy kind of hit him, ran into him, and he's like, Oh, I feel weird. Sat on the bench and like, yeah, I feel weird, and then walked back, collapsed lung. Like, what? Crazy. I how many times have you watched a basketball scrum? People are diving on the floor or flopping. Either right or flopping, yeah, sure. And then like that seems very odd to me that he got a collapsed lung from that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't know enough about it, right?
SPEAKER_02It's uh like use your lung collapses if you break a rib and it pierces your lung.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So they didn't say if you broke a rib. Nope. But that certainly puts his stamps on uh well, yeah, but they said a couple weeks.
SPEAKER_01That's what I mean. So I I have no idea how good for you because we won't even know how they repair that, how they fix that, what have how they they just pump some air back in.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think I don't know how that works either, right? That's pretty crazy. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But I mean, just you know, like it's only they said he could be back within a couple weeks. So that's why I thought a couple weeks, the season's over. Well, the couple weeks they're into the playoffs, right? That's why I said like Detroit's holding on to number one, but they've won the lot, they won the the first two games that he's that's that's the cat food, sorry folks.
SPEAKER_02And they both went sprinting.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they both went.
SPEAKER_02Ah, food.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, so yeah, that might that might hurt them a little bit, right? Yeah, well that we'll see. Like uh because Boston's only three or four games behind them, right? So and Cleveland's only a couple of times. Yeah, the the top, what is it, top four in the east are all really close, and then the bottom like six in the east are all really close. Yeah, nobody cares about the bottom. Yeah, well, they're not, no. Nobody's not you're not seeing unless there's injuries, you're not seeing a major upset. This is the problem with this is the problem with the NBA and the five or seven game formats that they play, right? Like the seven-game formats that they play, I guess. Excuse me. Nobody's gonna, there's not gonna be any major upsets in a seven-game series. Especially in that first round. No, right? Yeah, yeah. Unless an injury, unless something it's always 4-1 or 4-0. Now you might get like in the West, you know, right now the playoff pitcher has Lakers in third and Minnesota in sixth. Well, that was wasn't that the same setup last year, and Minnesota like walked all over LA. Well, the Lakers, what has changed? They're still tiny.
SPEAKER_02Still tiny, right? Yeah, that's not the team they want to come up against. They want to come up against the Rockets, they want to meet Denver either. They want to come up against the Rockets. They got the Rockets number, just beat them twice at home.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That's right. And so the Rockets are the Rockets.
SPEAKER_02And yeah. It's gonna be interesting. Yeah, it's gonna be interesting.
SPEAKER_01So they're all separated by a game. So even though, again, even though three versus six, I should have I shouldn't say what I said earlier in the East, nobody's the top four have really separated themselves from the bottom half. Yeah, the West hasn't. Now the top two in the West have, right? And so I don't know if anybody's beaten OKC or or no, they're both clinched.
SPEAKER_02They're both clinched.
SPEAKER_01No, but I mean I think you're seeing OKC and San Antonio in the Western Conference Finals. I don't think it has beaten.
SPEAKER_02It's gonna be hard to beat either one of those teams.
SPEAKER_01Whereas the East, it could be it depends if Cunningham doesn't come back or if Cunningham can't.
SPEAKER_02Well, you get Detroit to get Boston, you get New York. Well, Boston's got Taylor. Cavaliers are there.
SPEAKER_01Cavs are there, right? Like, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's another thing they were talking about on the uh Joe Rogan companion. The same guy, Joey Diaz, is like, you see this fucking guy, he comes back in less than a year when Achilles tannon injury. Holy shit, and he's dunking his basketball. And they're like, oh no, no, he can do that now. He goes, Not in basketball. Yeah, other sports, maybe. And then they said how he did it. Well, he went to this place in Austin and got stem cells. Stem cells is the new fucking everything is behilled through stem cells. But Kobe Bryant was doing that years ago. And remember, Kobe Bryant came back before earlier than Jalen. Brown.
SPEAKER_01So they Jason Tatum.
SPEAKER_02Sorry, Jason Tatum.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yep.
SPEAKER_02Now, uh I was looking at the Lakers schedule. They're gonna get 55 wins, probably.
SPEAKER_01Well, they just got through the tough stretch, right? They played uh in uh Denver and then back-to-backs with uh home at home with Houston and beat.
SPEAKER_02Now they almost lost to the Magic last night, which was on the road, yeah. Ridiculously close.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they're probably like what fifth game or fourth game in like five nights or four.
SPEAKER_02But the worst part is like I was telling you, Arshole got a technical, yeah, which puts him at whatever the number is for sixteen. Sixteen. Now he's gonna have to sit out on Monday against the Pistons when they need you, bro.
SPEAKER_01We need you to score because you've scored like I told I told you I watched the last uh I went and watched, I was watching the last bit of the game, and I was just like, every single time, go to the basket or whatever, pull up, do whatever you're doing, make whether make or miss. Oh what? No foul. Every single time. Give it a rest, man. Like let the refs make the call. Stop your whining. It's not gonna you're you throwing your arms up in the air isn't gonna matter because the ref's gonna go, oh, you know what? My bad. Hey, sorry, let's take that back, right? Just stop.
SPEAKER_02Tell me why Luca Donces doesn't have an MVP. Uh there's people screaming MVP about him. He's better than Shea Gilders Alexander. Uh because he has more assists, yeah. He has more points, but they keep saying if Shea wins MVP, it's bullshit. 100% bullshit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, I mean that they reward, you know, where your team sits, right? So it's disgusting. Yeah. I don't like it. Yeah. I don't like it.
SPEAKER_02By the way, uh, Washington OKC. Yeah. And there's nobody on the Wizards.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I thought I thought AK OKC beat them by like 20-some.
SPEAKER_02Mm-mm. No, they just played yesterday.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. I'll have to go look because I thought they beat them by 20-some.
SPEAKER_02By the way, OKC was losing probably three quarters of the game.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But when I watched the game, I'm like, once again, I don't know anybody on the Wizards. Like, not one player. But the boys can shoot. We've proved that because they won that other uh played that other game when uh uh Bam played, right?
SPEAKER_00But yeah.
SPEAKER_02I watched a bunch of OKC games this year, and here's what I see. They beat you in the fourth quarter.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's when they're beating teams. They're not beating you first, second, third, everybody's tight. I think they just run you into the ground because they're all young. I think they just run you into the ground at the end, and that's it, because that's when they're beating teams, is basically the fourth quarter.
SPEAKER_01Well, I told you I was watching that uh documentary on Netflix there about the the road to gold or whatever the hell it was called, and followed Serbia, France, US, and Canada. Um and and Steve Kerr was in the locker room talking to the team saying, Here's how we win. Like we we wear them down. And eventually they're gonna get tired. And we are just so talented, like we have so much talent that like their guys are gonna get tired.
SPEAKER_02Like we can stay fresh, we can stay uh, you know, and we wear them down, and then at the end of the yeah, well that's what it looks like to me with OKC, because every team you play them, they're pretty much in the game to the third quarter. Yeah, and the fourth quarter it's like, yeah, they're up by 22, 18, 7. Like, what?
SPEAKER_01Well, I remember when they started, like, God, they started so strong, and I don't think anybody was even within like they didn't know. Oh, they were blowing the doors off. I don't think they had a win that was let that you know they think everything was double-digit wins for the first like 30 games of the season or something crazy. Yeah, it's pretty crazy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, pretty crazy. But like I said, Luca's shooting the lights out, man. Yeah, Lucas.
SPEAKER_01He's breaking all the records for the hot streak right now, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And like I said, a hot streak, his mom just passed away recently. He's going through a serious development a couple years ago.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Lucas' mom didn't pass away.
SPEAKER_02I think they said something about his somebody passed away. Oh, okay. I didn't think it was his mom. Sorry, not his mom. Sorry, Luca. Yeah, mom's awesome. But uh, so he was going through that, and then he's going through the separation. She wants his kids and all his money, but apparently he was smart and put all his money in a trust. So she can't touch it. Right. Oops, oh well. What are you gonna do now?
SPEAKER_01She's by I think is she back in Slovenia?
SPEAKER_02Wherever she's from, I don't know, but he said he's got two daughters and he's fighting for them. So okay. I don't know how that works, you know. You're anyway. Yeah. Rough go. So, but my point is that he can still focus with all that bullshit going on in his life. It was like, good on you, man.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I think that's sometimes maybe you know what the craziest part is, is that I wonder if you go back and you look at like when all this stuff did start happening with the with the the girlfriend or the wife. I don't know if he's married.
SPEAKER_02No, it's girlfriend. Or engaged. Engaged, right, right, right.
SPEAKER_01Uh, you know, it's a good escape from all of that stuff, and so you can turn everything else off and just play just focus on basketball.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's definitely what he's doing. Dude, he the guy barely misses. Oh, by the way, I saw a stat. LeBron was like 21 for 22 in the last three games for seven.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he was yeah, he went missed like one shot. He went 13, 12 for 13 or 13 for 14 one game, and then the next game he started off like seven for seven before he finally missed. And then he went like one for five forty. Wow, holy but he yeah, no, it was pretty so I saw somebody saying it, and it was I kind of like thought, well, that's a good version of LeBron, like that really hyper, super efficient uh version of LeBron when he was in uh Miami, where he's like, I don't have to do everything, but I can just be incredibly efficient at what I do, right? And that's it's like that's as the third option. Sorry, LeBron, you are the third option on the Lakers right now. That's what you can be, right?
SPEAKER_02You should have seen who they went to last night for the win.
SPEAKER_01I saw it, Kennard. Yeah, yeah. Well, it was the way the plate was drawn up. I saw it. He went so perfect. He was so open, it was stupid. They faked the screen or whatever, and then everything went away, and everybody has his followed Austin, LeBron, and he's like, hey, and Luca, and Luke Canard starts out, and Marcus Smart just chucked it over top of everybody. And again, that's why you bought him. Well, Canard's just got the best uh three point five.
SPEAKER_02I told you might be the first guy that has like what is it, 30, 50, 90 or something? Whatever it is. Whatever it is, yeah. But 4050-90, yeah. 4050.
SPEAKER_01No, I think 4059 is like I think Steve Nash has done it. Uh okay, then it's 5050. Kevin Durant's done it. Like, yeah, yeah, something that's nobody could ever touch. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But I was like, good on you, white boy. Yeah, yeah. And then they interviewed him for the first time. Yeah, yeah, I saw that. Yeah. What did you think of that? Well, you know, the play of the digits of LeBron. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was a dude.
SPEAKER_02You can't lose to Orlando. Like you just can't.
unknownRight?
SPEAKER_02They're like six games below you or seven games below you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And by the way, they lost them three times this year, I think, already.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Orlando. Remember, Orlando's had a good run. Was it, I don't know if it was last year or two years ago, they had a really good run, and they just haven't been able to repeat it. No, they're what are they, like six or something like that?
SPEAKER_02Well, there was some big games. You see, uh Lakers beat Denver, so then they broke the tiebreaker there. Then they also beat Houston. So if they ended up playing those, they get home court advantage.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they got no, that's why they're sitting, that's why they're sitting in third right now. Right. I think they all got, I don't know if they all got the same record or they're all like one or two. Well, I imagine they're not going to be able to do that.
SPEAKER_02No, the Lakers have been up too for a while.
SPEAKER_01Right, yeah, because the Lakers have won like eight or nine in a row now. I guess.
SPEAKER_02Nine in a row. Yeah. And uh Pistons game would be ten, which would be pretty impressive.
SPEAKER_01But like I said, Cade Cunningham went down and Detroit still won the last two games, right? So they're not gonna, you know, don't take them for granted.
SPEAKER_02No, definitely not.
SPEAKER_01But like you said, Luca's not gonna be playing either in that game because it's a stupid text.
SPEAKER_02Unless they overturn it over the weekend, and they won't, they never overturn that. So should have thought about that bitcher whining and complaining.
March Madness Bad Calls And Collapses
SPEAKER_02All right, so we're on to, of course, the uh March Madness. Yeah. And the first thing I said to you is the Santa Clara, Kentucky bullshit.
unknownIt's a crazy.
SPEAKER_02They get screwed, man. The Santa Clara guys just yelling timeout, and the referee looks at him like this and turned his back and ran down the floor. Yeah. Huh? Who called the timeout? Uh uh Santa Clara. Why would they call a timeout? They just hit a three to go up. Because it would they wanted defense. Uh except the defense. Because it's not like the NBA, like you call a timeout, you don't get the ball at half, right? It doesn't work that way. Yeah. So he I the interview was bad. Like he's sitting there and he goes, You can see I called the timeout, right? But nobody gave it to me, and I don't know why. Yeah, yeah. And then one of the announcers on ESPN goes, Well, you know, uh, the referees are at fault on this one because in the NBA, everybody knows. As soon as this happens, you look right away, a referee is gonna look for the because he's no he's gonna call timeout. Yeah, and they go, Well, you know, that's that's the referees didn't know. Well, they fucking should know because they cost that team a fucking game and a lot of money.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_02So, I mean, good on the guy hitting the three at the end. That was a crazy shot. He banked it all. Ridiculous to send it in the overtime, but that should have never happened because he called timeout. It's you could see it clear as day.
SPEAKER_01Well, you never know. They made a round, they may they set up a play and still been able to hit it. Who knows, right? So that's why March, that's what I said. March Madnicks is great, right? Poor Santa Clara, though. Like yeah, yeah. And then uh they had it. Kentucky, Kentucky tied it up and then beat him in overtime, right?
SPEAKER_02Well, you know who I thought had it also was uh University of North Carolina was up 19 in college basketball and lost. Huh? When have you ever heard of that?
SPEAKER_01Uh well, I mean, not I think it was unfortunate. I'm a I am a tire heels fan. You know this. Happened to them again? Uh no, they uh this is the biggest lead ever given up in March Madness tournament history.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's what I said. When do you see that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because usually the games aren't high scoring anyway, and to go up by 17, you're pretty much sure to win.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I was pretty disappointed. I went uh I turned it off and went to bed thinking we got this one, woke up the next morning and they lost.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I didn't even see the end. I didn't want to watch it. I didn't want to get all pissed off and watch. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, I didn't listen, I'm a I'm a tire heels fan through and through. Almost every year I do a bracket when they I when I think they've got a chance, I pick them. I didn't think they had a chance this year. I had them losing, I had them win in the first round, I had them losing in the second round, unfortunately.
SPEAKER_02I just there was some dude in the US that put up a billion dollars if you get a perfect bracket. Oh yeah, it's very, very and then they said if you don't get the perfect bracket, whatever the best bracket is wins a million bucks. Oh yeah. But you had to be a U.S. citizen. Oh, okay. To do it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, Oh, there's all kinds of like tournaments. I I do a bracket every year. I I usually do one. I used to do one, my North Carolina bracket, I always called it and I did, then I did what I thought was gonna happen. Right, what you thought's gonna happen. What I what I what I what I always called like my real bracket. Um, and some of those times, my real bracket wasn't the North Carolina still winning, but yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's too bad, eh? But uh, you know what I did see, uh uh I have it on here too, is the uh Yukon Huskies, the women. Seventh season in a row without losing in the regular season.
SPEAKER_01Which is crazy. Yeah, they had that stretch when they had another stretch before that. They had Rebecca Lobo and uh I mean almost every almost every WMBA player played at Yukon at this point, right? Here we go. Yeah, why not? But yeah. Just think of that. I know that's I know that's an exaggeration, folks. Yeah, we know you know that.
SPEAKER_02But i like if you think about it, at the end of the day, it's like you didn't lose at all for how many years?
SPEAKER_01That's crazy. Yeah, but I told you like that the the South Carolina uh women's team did the same. Like they didn't lose either, and then they they ended up so those years that so that is seven years in a row for UConn. Well, UConn wasn't winning. They won last year. Right with uh Paige uh Buckers, whatever her name is. She's a really good player. Uh they won last year with her leading the way, but then uh the years before that, remember it was um one year it was uh Caitlin Clark in uh Iowa versus uh oh my god, I can't remember the Cardoza. South Carolina anyway, yeah. Yep. Don Staley's South Carolina teams won like they were they were really strong for years, and they're still strong. Yeah. I have no idea who the favorite is this year, but maybe is it Yukon, I guess? Is that what they're saying? They were they won last year, but they like I said, they lost Page. So one player. One player. She's good though, man. She's a good player. She's already one of the better players in the WMBA, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was watching some highlights of some of those games. It's geez, some of those girls are dirty. Oh, WNBA is rough, man.
SPEAKER_01It's like it's like watching, it's like watching basketball in the late 80s, early 90s. Yeah, it's a lot of fun. It's like watching the NBA. It's real dirty. Yeah. And it's like it's rough. And the refs let it go. Like the refs need to get their shit together, too. The refs let a lot of physical play go.
SPEAKER_02There's a lot of off-the-ball fouls. I'm like, that's a foul. Like, what you're not calling.
SPEAKER_01Oh, just dirty hits, too, man. Like they're they're they're almost out the injure, these some of these people, right? It's crazy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I don't understand the attitudes though in the WNBA. You don't really have that in the NBA. Like the attitudes on these women, some of these ladies are just like, well, okay. You know, back in the day you have your players in the NBA, but none of them are like over over the top, except for, you know, Rodman goes to Vegas, marries himself, or whatever. But some of these ladies that, you know, they come in, they're wearing dressed like they're they're on the uh the the the Oscar carpet, you know. Oh yeah, but the NBA does that now, though.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, they do. But I'm looking at all these like you see, watch Charles Barclay and how much he makes fun of these guys with what they come coming in wearing. Some of the stuff some of the stuff that some of these guys wear is like, hey man, they're taking a chance. But yeah, no, that's that's the new norm. The the what you're wearing on your way, like on your way into the stadium now, like is the new norm.
SPEAKER_02It seems to be a fashion sense, right? Yeah. But I just find that some of those women are just so bitchy on the court, like and rude, like you said, rude and dirty, and like a lot of them aren't basketball players. It's like retaliation for you scoring a basket. Right. Yeah. Huh? You don't see that in the NBA. You just don't.
SPEAKER_01Well, unless you watch the game against Again, I just like if you watched in the 80s and 90s, you did, though, right? And that's why I was like, that's not the 80s and 90s. Right. Well, that's what I said. The WMBA right now is a much younger league. It is more in line with where the WMBA or where the NBA was back then, right?
SPEAKER_02Well, did you see the scuffle between OKC and uh uh Washington last night?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I saw it.
SPEAKER_02A couple of shoves under the basketball.
SPEAKER_01I want to know what he said because he was just standing there and then he said, I scored the guy get catches the ball and starts walking, and he should the one guy, and the one guy doesn't move. So he should still doesn't move.
SPEAKER_02Then he shoved it.
SPEAKER_01So then he puts his hand on him, he slapped his hand away, and then both get two tacks.
SPEAKER_02I know, like well, here's how I saw it. Brawl and OKC Wizards game, like, oh, I've got to find this on you. And then I'm like, Brawl? He pushed him and three guys fell. Yeah, okay, but they both get they're into something over there. Into something.
SPEAKER_01You're probably your backpack. Yeah, it's fine. Nothing in there. Um anyway. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I don't uh I mean some of this stuff that they call in the NBA now. Like again, like I'm not saying go with the WNBA where they let them like clothesline each other like they did back in the you remember that who was it? Uh Larry Bird took down Kurt Rambus. Do you remember that? The late. Well, it was a take literally a take down. Oh, yeah, yeah. Not even a basketball player. Nothing to do with basketball players. Nothing, just a common foul. That's what it was back then, right?
SPEAKER_02Well, remember I sent you that one there about a month ago. It's Jordan jumping over three guys and landing on his head, going, nah, no foul.
SPEAKER_01Clean block. Clean block. Yeah. It's crazy, right? Easy, man. But now it's like now it's like it's almost ridiculous. Okay, a foul is a foul. I get the fouls, but what they call flagrants now sometimes, it's like excessive force. It's like the guy just gave him a little bit of a push. That's not a flagrant, man. Like, that's a foul, sure. Technical, sure. It's not a flagrant, man.
SPEAKER_02Come on. Right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's uh yeah, it's I mean, now they keep showing the amount of steps.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it's ridiculous. Dude, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I walk uh what's it Grayson Allen? Grayson Allen?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's one.
SPEAKER_02He was at the three-point line. He moved this way, he had the ball in his hand. Move this way, two steps, spin, two more steps, layup. I'm like, one, two, six six. Yeah. The referee, uh good.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's it's you know, like they've given him now what they've called, and I think has now become the regular thing. It's like they call it the gather step, which there was no way gather's more than two steps. When I was playing, there's no gather. Back in the day, there was no gather. It was like, you know, you had your two two steps, that's it. And then anything, if there was a third step in there, it was called instantly, right? But now it's but I was watching uh it's it's then so we talk about the NBA. I just saw like the uh the women's Olympic team went through the uh was it the FIFA qualifier? I don't know what they just went through, but uh the women's the US, yeah. And uh showed Caitlin Clark doing one of those sidestep threes, same thing. Well, five steps to get her to get open, but they're not no call, right? It's like gather one, two, wait, three, four. Like, how did that happen?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but remember, okay, the Harden used to do the you know, off to the sidestep.
SPEAKER_01Well, that's what Luca does every time. It does. But that's what you know, when Hartman, do you remember when Harden first started doing it? They were everybody was questioning whether it was a traveler or not. No, it's a gather step. No, it's a gather step, and that's what and so now the gather staff. Luca does it all the time. I don't know if it was Harden that, but anyway, the guy, I mean Jordan, Jordan traveled. Like you can see. Guys, there's lots of guys that always get away with it, but they were always giving like look at LeBron. Jeez, LeBron travels almost every time. The layups are hilarious nowadays.
SPEAKER_02It's just it's quite something.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I mean, I get it. You're not gonna like these guys are going down, they got a fast break dunk or a one-on-one. Like, just let them have it. Like, you know what I mean? He can't blow the whistle, but an extra step, okay. But like some of these ones, when you say like they do like five, six steps, like that's okay. You can call that guys, it's okay.
SPEAKER_02Like the one where Russell Westbrook was holding the ball. Yeah, that's still my favorite. Yellow just walking up the cockpit.
SPEAKER_01He got it like in his arm and he's watching it. I know I think we've talked about that one before, but just because it's if you haven't seen it, you gotta go watch it. I watched the ball.
SPEAKER_02Because I'm watching, what is he doing? And the referee just uh okay, like after like three or four.
SPEAKER_01There's one if you go back, you can find it too, where LeBron's dribbling, dribbling. He picks the ball up, takes a couple of steps, puts it back down, and starts dribbling again.
SPEAKER_02And you can see the players going. See, the referee might not even saw it. Right, he probably wasn't even paying attention. Because they're okay, just coming up, right? One, two. The brain farts is so funny.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you go over there, you go over there.
SPEAKER_02Anyway. Anyway.
Snow Forecast Final Plugs Signoff
SPEAKER_02All right. Well, yeah, that's it for today. So you literally saw the weather. It says 15 centimeters of snow.
SPEAKER_01And it's uh yeah, and it you so that's what I said to you when you came in and said 15 centimeters. Like, that's better. Yesterday they were calling for 25 to 30.
SPEAKER_02So I haven't been looking. I don't want to see snow anymore.
SPEAKER_01But it's gonna be my my biggest thing is uh especially out here where we are on the coast, like it's probably gonna be a mix of freezing rain and snow, and so it's gonna be wet. Well, what happened last week?
SPEAKER_02It said none of the sensors are working my car because they're all frozen, right? From the the freezing rain.
SPEAKER_01I think we're about three or four degrees out there today. So I think we're dropping down to zero overnight. So we're gonna be right around that zero mark, and so that's where that's where I the weather gets really shit, right? So right now I think I'm I'm planning for doing the work from home tomorrow with this kind of with this weather system coming in because it's gonna be a nasty drive. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But yeah, you don't have to drive in, you don't need to. No, but I think they say it's gonna be like a like a system that's just gonna sit over the province for like a whole day, too. So snow for like 20, you know, 24 hours kind of thing.
SPEAKER_02I have the new updated top five of who's watching us. USA one. Oh Canada two, Singapore three, okay, UK four.
SPEAKER_01Still the UK, eh?
SPEAKER_02Germany in the five. Oh, Germans, okay. Germans coming up on the world. I don't know why. What do we say about Germany? Somebody's uh looking at us.
SPEAKER_01Maybe.
