Soccer is starting to feel like theater, and we’re not pretending that’s fine. We kick things off with Canada’s World Cup run and the stuff that actually decides games at the highest level: injuries that wreck the middle of the field, pressure that turns matches dirty fast, and the brutal reality that top-10 teams punish every mental lapse. We also get into why rankings and “easy” brackets muddy the conversation, plus the host-country edge that nobody wants to admit is real until altitude and travel hit.

Then we unload on the plague of flopping and diving. If you’ve ever wanted soccer to clean this up, you’ll love this part: we talk about the newer rule approach where play doesn’t stop, how that changes behavior instantly, and why it matters when kids are copying what they see. Along the way, we break down a simple but important idea for any fan: speed isn’t the same as quickness, and quickness is what creates that half-second of daylight that kills you.

From there it’s full NBA offseason mode. We connect athlete discipline to longevity with LeBron James, discuss why fans now follow players more than teams, and dig into what a real “pitch” to LeBron looks like: role, system, and a realistic path to winning. We hit rumor-board chaos, debate whether LeBron’s Lakers run is a success, and touch on trade chatter, roster construction, and the Ja Morant-to-Portland move with the most obvious accountability checklist on earth.

Sponsor And Quick Welcome

SPEAKER_02

Hey everybody, welcome back to You Would Think with uh Bobby D and Mikey D. And right here is our sponsor, Mike, which is W.G. And right here is the uh code you can use. It's BobbyHyphen Mikey D for 10% off any and all orders. And it tastes great and you don't crash. So and it doesn't rot your teeth, reflective of what we talked about earlier by accident. Right last the last episode. There was a caveat I put in there. It was a Kool-Aid. We're talking about five times of sugar. Not the sponsor, they're good people. Yes. Okay. So

Canada World Cup Reality Check

SPEAKER_02

now I don't know how deep we're gonna go here. So I mean, how am I gonna say this nicely? Canada sucks. So okay. Yeah, come on, man.

SPEAKER_01

They had a good time. I know. All right.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it was okay. So here's my thing.

SPEAKER_01

They were dead had nine goals this this tournament. Last tournament they had two. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Right? So but they were putting easier brackets. Keep that in mind. Come on, man. It's true. It happened. It was real. So here's the thing, though. Honestly, if our guy didn't get hurt, Ishmael, we would have done it. Because he was really missed. Like people didn't really talk about him, but you should have, because he really would have helped, man, through the middle there.

SPEAKER_01

If you actually go and look at the stats of the game, so you watch the game, you see the gameplay, fine. But you look at the stats and it's like possession, the other team always had like 60 to 70.

SPEAKER_02

55, 35 in the first half for Canada.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Now they came out right. Marshall, whatever.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But he came out right. He's smart. Put the pressure on him. It doesn't matter. The weaker team put the pressure on the other team and let them fucking fight through it. And you saw how dirty it got. Because they didn't like it. And Canada's like, well, you don't like that? Fuck you. Take this. Like there was a lot of. I was so shocked. I think I even wrote you and said, waiting for the red card in the second half. Yeah. It didn't happen. Yeah. But it was dirty. Now, here's the thing.

SPEAKER_01

There's a lot. Yeah, I think Canada had when I checked. It was a lot of fouls. It was like 19 fouls to eight or something like that.

SPEAKER_02

Right. Yeah. They put it on them. They did what they had to do. But for four minutes, one guy fell asleep on the field. And they say, I'm not naming names because he fell asleep and he probably feels shit about it because he was nowhere near where he was supposed to be. And boom, look what happens. You can't fuck around with the teams like in the top 10. No. Right? Those guys are too good. Like there's really no weaknesses in the top.

SPEAKER_01

And the third, the third goal, by the way, was I mean, that's like an awful, it's like hockey when you're playing with an empty. Yeah. Like you're pressing. Yeah. You know, you're putting all the, and then all of a sudden they get like a two-on-one. Of course. That happens in every every episode. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So really it was 2-0. Yeah. And even the second goal, the Canadians were pressing a lot more trying to get that injury. Oh, sure were.

SPEAKER_02

Sure were. But and see, that's how good all these teams are left, right? Like all these teams are left. You've got to make you pay.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'll make you pay for the limit. That's it.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But you know, I mean, all in all, we did okay. Could we have done better? Maybe, but you know, that's in here, hindsight. We had some injuries, obviously, or what's his name didn't come on at all. He was still not feeling well, apparently.

SPEAKER_01

So

How Rankings And Brackets Work

SPEAKER_01

well, let's let's put it this way global rankings, like you know, uh Well, I wanted to talk about this actually.

SPEAKER_02

So I don't know how this works, but to me, okay, we're nobodies, but to me, I would say this. I say, okay, we went to the final 16. Yep. Well, now we're ranked 16 or above, right? Because you just made the final 16 in the entire world of the World Cup. Yeah. How do you not rank a top 16 in team not in the top 16? Here's the problem though. So what are you gonna what are you gonna do? You're gonna take Capo Verde or whatever the fuck they're called, that were, you know, like ranked 70 something. Exactly. You're gonna put them at 14 now?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you've got to take more into it. Because like you just said too, if you put in a weaker bracket, well then you're not playing uh Mexico, US, and Canada are all put in weaker brackets on purpose.

SPEAKER_02

It's always done that way for the host countries.

SPEAKER_01

Of course they do that. But buddy, you know what tonight England's look at in the Mid Olympics, like the the host country is allowed a lot more than extra people, yeah, yeah. So yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Your granddad can run if he wants.

SPEAKER_01

That's right.

SPEAKER_02

Uh Mexico is playing England tonight in Mexico City.

SPEAKER_01

In Mexico City.

SPEAKER_02

Holy shit.

SPEAKER_01

England, England has said they said there's uh there's an unfair. They said there's an unfair advantage. Yeah. Uh in that there is because you're playing at a much higher altitude. Uh-huh. And they're normally they say you need at least a week to acclimatize to that. Or two weeks, they say. Two weeks, so there you go. And they're getting three days, right? So they're fucked. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You watch. They're gonna run them into the ground.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they're gonna Mexico's gonna win that. I'm assuming England will have like oxygen tanks and just.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, it's gonna be a problem. People have no idea.

SPEAKER_01

So if you ever watch the NFL when they play in Denver, they always have the oxygen tanks in there, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's why I'm always surprised that you know the Denver Nuggets don't take take people into the deep water because those guys are all used to that now. Yeah, you know, whatever. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So, okay, hang on here.

SPEAKER_01

That'll be a good game tonight, though.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think it's on a five. No. The uh the other game's on a five. I think that's a late game.

SPEAKER_01

So who does US get now?

SPEAKER_02

Uh France.

SPEAKER_01

Is it France? No, France. No, France gets Morocco. Morocco.

SPEAKER_02

We would have had France. That'd be a good game. Yeah, we didn't want France anyway, but we would have took it, but it wouldn't have gone well, I don't think. Yeah. Uh

Speed Versus Quickness In Soccer

SPEAKER_02

the other thing I noticed about Canada too, before we go any further, is we're just not that fast. If you watched, holy shit, those boys are quick. Now now, okay, now if you're not a soccer person, there's a thing. You can be fast, but there's a difference between fast and quick, too. So, like their first couple of steps and movements are so fucking quick, it's ridiculous, right? And it just takes that minute second. Like, if you watch, it's like minute seconds. But anyway.

SPEAKER_01

So, well, that's just it. You just need that little bit of daylight, right?

SPEAKER_02

That little for just about anybody, right? Yeah, here's the thing

Flopping Rules And Sportsmanship

SPEAKER_02

though, dude. I almost turned the game off. There's been so much flopping in these days.

SPEAKER_01

I'll tell you, even watching the game, watching the game yesterday, there's there was about three or four times where it's like, are you serious?

SPEAKER_02

Well, here's the best part though. See, these guys are so stupid they forget the new rule.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So when you get cracked, you lay on the ground, nothing happens. It's like rugby, you just keep playing. It's like so they're they're rolling around and they're like, now they put their team in today's. Yeah, now you're down a player and you know they're not fucking hurt. Nobody ever is. No. Right? Well, 99.9% of the time. Yeah, buddy that had his leg broken, he was hurt. Yeah, he could have played it. I mean, yeah, you know, he's Canadian, he would have got up and walk it off.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But anyway, I agree.

SPEAKER_02

Like that's yeah, come on. Like these guys are just I played my whole life into my mid-20s. The only time I ever got hurt is the two times I broke my leg. Right? And that was in soccer.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Right? So every other time those cli it hurts for a second, and it's like you don't have to roll around. It makes you look such like a weak, weak, weak athlete and weak-minded too to do that. It's pathetic. It to me, it's the worst thing you can see in sports, right, LeBron? What? Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So now if they go down and they stay down and they roll around and they're whining. Nothing happens. It can go to video review, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, if the referee wants to, but the play doesn't stop at all before they kick it out, and then nobody does that anymore.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_02

Just keep going. Then you realize they all fucking jump up, don't they? But what was the game I watched? Was it Algeria? Buddy was out cold. Did you see that? No, I didn't see it. Fucking jump up for a headball and he fucking well, like limp, and the boys are like, ugh, Colombia. He stayed on the fucking pitch, I'm pretty sure.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, really?

SPEAKER_02

Dude, he was unconscious.

SPEAKER_01

I'd be cut concussion protocol. Well, that's what I was thinking.

SPEAKER_02

Like, unless I'm mistaken, and I walked away for too long and came back. I was gonna say all the Algerians look the same, but they don't.

SPEAKER_01

It might it might be that they don't have the same concussion protocol.

SPEAKER_02

Mike, he was like he flopped and he was out and they were fucking yelling for somebody to come over.

SPEAKER_01

So maybe I missed it.

SPEAKER_02

I'll have to look that up.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, I think MBA, like if they take an elbow to the head, like and they go down, like they enter a concussion protocol.

SPEAKER_02

Well, remember Wendy smacked his own face on the floor. Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_01

So anyway, um and he was frustrated by all the the the hoops he had to jump through to kind of get clearance to play. I remember that, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Now, this is the reference that people might not get unless you're an Olympic uh watcher. So much diving in the World Cup, Greg Luganus would be proud. Like it's re boys. You why do you want to look like a what's the word? Tinkerbell? I don't care, call it whatever, soft. Why do you want to look like that? Little kids are watching. Here's the other thing. Did you see that son of a bitch? Kick the uh the penalty spot, like when uh Mbappe was gonna take the penalty.

SPEAKER_00

No, I didn't think that's it.

SPEAKER_02

Like that's a yellow card, right? Like you can't do that. Yeah, I did that. Here's the thing you asshole, there's a hundred million people, and there's kids watching this game, and somebody just goes, Oh, that's a good idea. Look what I can do, I can fuck up this thing. These people are idiots. Like, think about what you're doing. It's supposed to be like a you know, whole grandeur that everybody's watched, it's like the Olympics, but but uh and you guys are doing that stupid shit, diving. Are you kidding me? You ever see Messi dive? No, unless he gets clipped, right? Nobody's diving. Like you guys are just uh Yeah, oh it's bad.

SPEAKER_01

No, it sucks me.

SPEAKER_02

I'm just I almost turned it off.

SPEAKER_01

Almost oh I I I actually oh I actually have. I've there's I I'm just like I can't watch this.

SPEAKER_02

This is why I stopped watching it in the 90s. I couldn't stand the flop. I'm like, I played the sport. What are you doing?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, what are you doing? And it's not even like in the penalty or it's anywhere, but it's ever that's what I mean. I that's right. Soccer's the worst of it. Oh, it's but basketball's getting just as bad with the flop. You need to start carding people for flopping. Just start, just start doing it. I'm surprised they don't because isn't it unsportsmanlike if they have to do it?

SPEAKER_02

It is to me, watching it, it's bullshit. And then you see the guys doing this one. Well, yeah, we all know. Well then you can show them the Uno card or whatever. Like, come on, man. Yeah, I'll tell you this though. I watched uh

Haaland And The Genetics Of Greatness

SPEAKER_02

because I don't really know much about him because I haven't been watching soccer in a while, but uh the Norwegian fella, Erling uh Halland.

SPEAKER_01

Sure, yep.

SPEAKER_02

Uh 26, this fella, he's like 6'4 or whatever.

SPEAKER_01

Big dude, yeah, dude.

SPEAKER_02

I went and watched his uh whole little biography on him because I didn't really know much about him. Like came up through Dortmund and then played for Man City and set all the records.

SPEAKER_01

Ah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

First three games he scored three goals in each game. Oh wow, yeah, yeah. Nobody's ever done that. Quickest guy to fucking 20 uh most goals in a season. Oh wow, okay. Uh quickest guy to 50. I'm like, what? Yeah, like and think of who he's beat. This guy's he's only 26. Yeah, like this guy's a fucking monster. Yeah, he's unreal good, man. But people are like, oh my god, where did you get an athlete like that? Want to take a shot at it? Well, do you think mom and dad was like a bricklayer and you know Michael McDonald's?

SPEAKER_01

Sure.

SPEAKER_02

Right. So his dad was a first division soccer player. Of course. And his mom was one of the top heft athletes in the world. Oh, yeah. Or in Norway. Yeah. Well, that'd make the monster athlete that he is, because he's a fucking freak. Right? Boy, he's good. Holy smokes. Yeah, I watched his whole thing, his top 30 goals, and where he came from and the whole nine. It's pretty cool.

SPEAKER_01

Now that he gets, you know, and it's comes from a firm, bro. But that's just it. If you kind of grow up with parents that have, you know, trained to be athletes like that, well then that that kind of uh discipline is instilled in you pretty early on, I guess.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, yes, sir. And he eats real clean and does all the crazy shit. Yeah, it's pretty impressive.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So I want to see him play again.

SPEAKER_01

That's

LeBron And The Discipline Mindset

SPEAKER_01

what uh they were talking about uh not to go to LeBron, but uh same kind of thing.

SPEAKER_02

Still LeBron, eh Mike?

SPEAKER_01

They said we they said we got together uh or we figured it out pretty early on when they're all out on this trip. And he said, like, LeBron's still carrying his like you know massive jug of water around everywhere. He's still like up in the morning training, he's eating this. And they're like, oh, he's playing. Like, there's no doubt he's playing again next year. Because this is when they were saying, is he even gonna play? Oh, we knew he was playing. And then they went, oh, you could tell instantly. He's like, no, he's still training, like he's playing. So he's he's still playing, right? Or he's putting on a good show. Yeah, that's right. Well, that's what I mean. Like these guys knew right away, right? They're like all you do is pay attention to him for a few minutes. So that's what I was saying with the discipline when you're a professional athlete. You are if you're doing that, you know you're training for something, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you know what though, he's not gonna lose that though. Like, look at a lot of those guys, they're still in pretty good shape, a lot of them.

SPEAKER_01

They I saw them talking to uh it was Matt Barnes and Steve O, the Steve Jackson there from All the Smoke. They were talking to uh Michael Irving. Oh. And Michael Irving has put on one pound or lost one pound. Oh, okay. Like from his playing days. Like that's shredded all the time. Six foot four looks fantastic.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, probably two forty, two or two twenty, I mean.

SPEAKER_01

So like Shannon Sharp. Look at Shannon Sharp. That guy's another freak. Freak. Still training like nonstop, right? So you're right. A lot of guys, a lot of these guys, if you're like I don't think LeBron's gonna you're you're gonna see LeBron in 10 years' time, like 100 pounds of fat on him.

SPEAKER_02

No, but you know what he's gonna look like if you ask me. He's gonna look like Carl Malone. Yeah, how big Carl Malone is now. Like, because you know I don't have to really restrict my calories too much. He's really not gonna get fat. Yeah, he's just gonna be fucking huge. Yeah, because he doesn't have to worry now about keeping the standard. Yeah, he's definitely gonna play and one or three on three. You know he's not stopping. Even if he retires next year, he's not stopping. He's gonna play for somebody just for fun.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see. A guy like that can't stop.

SPEAKER_02

He just can't.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, but I mean at the same time, like he's gonna go hang out at Rutherford Park next. Well, I think once he once he's done, though, like he's he's said he's said it multiple times. I mean, not that we should we shouldn't be getting on Braun already, but uh that he's uh he owes his family time, right? Like they've sacrificed for a long time. So when he hangs up the sneakers, I think he's gonna look at Kobe. You know, Kobe had Kobe like you know almost redefined.

SPEAKER_02

Kobe also win like an Academy Awards.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's what I mean. Kobe went out there and he didn't just automatically go right into broadcasting, which a lot of these guys do, and it's actually I think it's actually good for the game to have former athletes as the ones talking about it, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, 100%. But I don't really see LeBron doing that.

SPEAKER_01

No, I I don't see him. No, he's not gonna be a man.

SPEAKER_02

I don't see him being a broadcaster.

SPEAKER_01

He has to control too much. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. There's too much, too much there. LeBron James is like Michael, just like Air Jordan, LeBron James, like he's a brand. He's a brand, right?

SPEAKER_02

He's a brand. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, let's keep going on NBA anyway.

NBA Rumor Season And LeBron Fits

SPEAKER_02

We can we can keep going on that because we got him. So I'm seeing all kinds of bullshit, and I'm seeing so much bullshit, I'm starting to delete shit. Like, yeah, I'm not interested. Don't fucking show me this again because it's a full-blown lie.

SPEAKER_01

Just about like LeBron.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So he's so Rich Paul he's going to Houston and get the so Rich Paul, like uh's real. It's board's real. If that board's real. It's on his podcast, which he does with uh Kellerman.

SPEAKER_02

Pretty crazy because I I looked at it a couple of times.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And he's got it. It's interesting because well, it's also could be misdirect.

SPEAKER_02

Well, if this is what I'm saying, too. That's why I said it's real.

SPEAKER_01

This he's sharing. Okay, here's the name, here's the Cavs, here's the Celtics, here's the Sixers, whatever. Sixty. They're not from the side, he just got Steph and Dra Draymond or whatever, right? He's just got the Warriors off on the side. It's like, yeah, uh, you know, I would assume Golden State allows him to stay close to his family, stay close to home. Yep. Let's him go play with Steph for a year, who he said he's always wanted to play with.

SPEAKER_02

And he's probably gonna get to play against Bronny. Like against.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe if the Lakers cities, they're gonna keep him. They're gonna keep him. He's on a guaranteed contract, but he might not see any floor time. Well, that's another thing. That's right. Yeah. We'll see. So anyway, so it's interesting. Because right now, so Draymond opted out and he hasn't re-signed, so obviously he's still he's not re-signing because he's keeping that open for a reason.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, that clearly did the same.

unknown

Oh.

SPEAKER_01

Harden opted out and had a remote. Oh, yeah, I told you that. Yeah, yeah. He hasn't re-signed. Sorry, sorry. I didn't think you said Harden. Yeah, I knew that one. Yeah, so so that also could be uh, what are we doing in Cleveland here, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, what are we doing in Cleveland? Well, I told you he's in Akron right now.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, he's been there. That's what I told you. I said he I said he well, I said he did just become a new member of the club.

SPEAKER_02

You did, but then I I just found out that he's been he's hanging out. So that like But once again, it's summer, but you could throw it like this is to throw you off, right? Then you'll fly to South Beach and go, eh, back in Miami.

SPEAKER_01

That you know what's funny is that's it. Yeah, in a couple weeks' time, you're gonna see him hanging out in South Beach.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, for sure, yeah. He's gonna go to each one just to be an ass.

SPEAKER_01

But you know what? He's he's played this game the whole time. Like, keep him at the front of the Well, here's the funny thing though, right?

SPEAKER_02

Can you give up too much for him because he's 300 years old? Like at this point, can you give up too much?

SPEAKER_01

Well, now it's just uh he's like he's he's left the Lakers, so it's he's he, you know.

SPEAKER_02

No, no, no, but I mean the team that's gonna take him. Like, you know, the minimum was like three and a half mil.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Right? Like, are you gonna give him 40? Like, no, no, no, right?

SPEAKER_01

And that's and that's just it. Like, I think he's now gonna it's kind of weird because he's now he's leaving the Lakers.

SPEAKER_02

This is the thing that bothers us. This is what he said. And that this I want to go somewhere where I can him. Where I want to go somewhere where I can just uh continue to love the game, basically, is what he said.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

What does that mean?

SPEAKER_01

Are you chasing a ring or not? But remember when uh but remember when Butler left Miami or got traded out of Miami, he said, I need to find my happiness or my joy again. Remember, he said, I need to find my joy again.

SPEAKER_02

Well that's basically what LeBron said. I want to play.

SPEAKER_01

That's what I thought. Like that's what LeBron said. LeBron said something very similar. So uh, you know, uh, he's always wanted to play. When Butler said, I want to find my joy, my joy again. Butler ended up going out to Golden State. So that's why I thought is like LeBron playing that game, saying, I want to find my happiness. Is that like a little inside joke? And he's he's just gonna end up in Golden State, right? Could be. Play for a coach that runs a system.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, well, how's that gonna work out?

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. It's gonna be completely different, right?

SPEAKER_02

Let's do that at his age, his mind is programmed to see.

SPEAKER_01

Like, I I mean, I don't know. I don't see Steve Kerr going, okay, well, let's completely change our offense now. Because like you go to Golden State, it's Steph's team. Yep, right, and LeBron knows that, and he knows it. He knows that. Yeah, he's not coming to the next one. He was willing to let it be Lucas' team like this last year.

SPEAKER_02

So, yeah, 100%.

SPEAKER_01

So, anyway, I I've seen a lot of people going, listen, this is the new, this is the way the NBA is now. I'm not a Lakers fan, I am not a Cleveland fan. I am a LeBron fan, and I will follow LeBron. If LeBron goes to Golden State, I'm going out and buying a golden LeBron James Golden State jersey. LeBron games, LeBron James goes back to Miami, you know. Hey, I've already got my LeBron James Miami jersey. If he changes numbers, I'll go buy that. You know, if he goes back to Cleveland, I've already got my LeBron Cleveland jersey, right? Like, so and I thought, you know what, that is the reality of it. That like even us, like I'm not a Lakers fan, but I follow the Lakers because I, you know, like I do find LeBron intriguing, right? So Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Win or lose.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Win or lose. Yeah. So yeah, I mean, who knows? We we have no idea. Everybody's guessing at this point in time. Well, he knows. And he's already known. He's known for a while, probably. Right?

SPEAKER_01

Uh, I think he's gonna listen to their pitches. Uh I don't think he's listening to the pitches. Rich Paul said that.

SPEAKER_02

What do you gotta okay? Hang on, what do you can do? Oh, Ron, so this is our facility. No, there's a specific. But that's what Rich Paul said.

SPEAKER_01

He goes, that's not what they're gonna say. What is it? What are they gonna do?

SPEAKER_02

This is what we got for you.

SPEAKER_01

What do you envision for me as a basketball player joining your team?

SPEAKER_02

My plan? Coming off the bench?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Russ playing? What's my role? Like, who's you know, what's yeah, it's it's gonna be more of that, right? So here's San Antonio's called, Minnesota's called, like these guys are everybody's calling. Why wouldn't they? Well, because I just keep, you know, we're being Are you gonna tell me that there's gonna be a team out there that's gonna say, uh, we don't want LeBron?

SPEAKER_02

Exactly, right? Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

You mean we can get LeBron for five million dollars for the year? Oh, we don't want LeBron.

SPEAKER_02

Just for the revenue alone. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Just for the revenue, exactly. Just for the revenue alone, right? Like really. Detroit, pick them up. Bums in the seats, yeah, yeah. You know, jersey sales.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, bro, for all we know, you know, the turnaround you go, yeah, he went to Washington.

SPEAKER_01

Uh what? So so here's an interesting question for you, then. And I I

Was LeBron’s Lakers Run A Success

SPEAKER_01

I see them talking about it online, and I I was I thought of this myself.

SPEAKER_02

All right.

SPEAKER_01

Do you consider uh oh his current eight years at LA a failure or a success?

SPEAKER_02

Success, he won a championship.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but he also brought the fucking Lakers back to relevancy. Remember that for years, for about four or five years before that, yeah, even when Kobe was there, they weren't they weren't even around. Well, that's the other thing, too.

SPEAKER_02

And he did it after Kobe passed away, right? So that was a big deal too. He kind of brought everything back. He brought the Lakers back, and then they'll probably retire.

SPEAKER_01

They weren't like they were a playoff team every year again. They were actually always up there competing. Yeah you know, even there was a couple years where it's like, nah, they're not winning anything, but they were still making the playoffs, right?

SPEAKER_02

Like it's a lot of injuries, throats, you know. Look what happened last year. You never know what would have happened last year, you know.

SPEAKER_01

So, so yes, I I I agree. I I think in those eight years he did, and I saw somebody talk about this, and I thought, there's a good, there's a good comparison. So, what do you guys so the eight years that he's in LA, the same eight years that Jokic is in Denver, the same eight years that Giannis is in Milwaukee, same eight years, you know what I mean? Okay, so Milwaukee wins one championship in those eight years. Denver? Denver wins one championship in those eight years.

SPEAKER_02

Actually, everybody lasts eight years. One championship in those eight years, right? Yeah, keep going, right?

SPEAKER_01

Jason Tatum and then so it's like, yeah, so like there's so many people every other year. So does that are you gonna sit there and put that same on every other? So does that mean that Giannis's stint in Milwaukee was a failure then? That Yoke's stint in Denver is a few years ago. No, he won a championship. That Tatum's stint in Boston is a champion is a waste.

SPEAKER_02

But how many people never get one?

SPEAKER_01

So that's where I said, like the different the the double standards.

SPEAKER_02

Is that that white guy skipped the state?

SPEAKER_01

Leave him alone. Yeah, but there's a lot of people out there that say it was a failure because he didn't win more championships. But there's no that expectation isn't on all the other NBA players to be multiple-time champions, right?

SPEAKER_02

It just there was some bad luck, a few bad passes here and there, a couple of bad calls, some injuries, and boom, they could have won another one easy. Right? But that goes for everybody.

SPEAKER_00

That's right.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but I mean, anyway, okay. Well, we're gonna yeah, let's keep going with this. So, all right, well, here's another Jesus. I saw this too.

Big Trade Talk And Team Loyalty

SPEAKER_02

I see Kawhi and LeBron in just in uh a Toronto jersey, isn't it? That'd be so good.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I told you the only reason why I like LeBronto. I thought that'd be true.

SPEAKER_02

Right, but I mean he's never played with Kawhi, likes Kawhi.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean, play you know, but they're the but the issue there is they play that they're they're they're the same position.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_01

So is one of them gonna move to the four? They can't play, they can't guard a two or a three or a one.

SPEAKER_02

No, well LeBron. No, LeBron's 45. He's 75 years old. He can't play defense for a bunch of. I'm just trying to be nice. But yeah, okay, so regardless. So we know that Kawhi went to Toronto, he's looking for the money, right? Won a long-term deal.

SPEAKER_01

Scotty Barnes and and uh RJ Barrett, like in Toronto's Toronto's gonna contend in the East. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, they loved him too. Oh, did you see what they did for Kyle Lowry? They signed him to a one-day contract. That's good, yeah. Way to go, TL.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, they always that that I was I think that was always known that Lowry gotta do it. Some consider him the greatest raptor of all time, right?

SPEAKER_02

So well, they played there a long time. Did a lot of people play there a long time, holds records with tons of records, right? Well, I didn't yeah, anyway. Yeah, so that was that one. All right, we so we get another one. Wow, the biggest one I think, honestly, is the Jalen Brown to to Sixers, which yeah for Paul George.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Paul George and like some picks, right? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like the later picks, like in the thirties, thirty one or thirty two or something.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah and Paul George is they know no discredit to Paul George. He's just not the player he was when he was in Indiana, man.

SPEAKER_02

Right. But here's the other thing, too. Can't even stay on the floor. What is wrong with Jalen Brown?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Like, what is what is is there something behind the scenes nobody's talking about? Is he uh is he a Kyrie Irving? I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

You know, is he a Chris Paul?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I saw something the other day that made sense to me. Oh, what do you got? And they were saying that, you know, does Boston, while there's still value, now again, like there's definitely value. They could have got more for Brown than what they got. Uh, in my opinion. Because, you know, last year, top he would have been top ten player in the league last year, right?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

With Tatum out, like kept Boston in the number two seed. Like he's he's got a big thing.

SPEAKER_02

Brad Stevenson made this deal.

SPEAKER_01

Uh well, I mean, he's the one, he's he uh yeah, essentially, I guess it's that's what it's all fallen on him, but it's usually by committee, it's not just one guy making a decision, right? But I would assume that's the same thing. Yeah, he could say no.

SPEAKER_02

He goes, can we get at least a few basketballs?

SPEAKER_01

But so they said, you know, you look at teams like like Denver, like Milwaukee, that they won their championship and then they held on to that core until it was too late to get anything in return. And there's no money left. Yeah. Well, Denver's not really. Not really. Um, you know, so maybe Boston's looking at it like we won our championship, you know, three years ago, whatever it was, right? Brown just had a breakout year last year, or like, you know, a really good year last year. Tatum's coming back, Tatum's.

SPEAKER_02

Tasome's leg's good, we notice he's good.

SPEAKER_01

And Tatum's our guy, so like let's try and get something in return for Brown now while we can. And you know, there's obviously something going on behind the scenes as well. That they that for the last three years, Brown's name has been the name that's been.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know if this was AI, but did you see he went to the complex and his card wouldn't work? No, I didn't see that. No, I'm assuming that must be AI. Maybe, but you don't know. I don't know. Like maybe there's somebody goes, it could be all my last days.

SPEAKER_01

Well, he does, he he live streams, right? Like, and that's part of the couple of things.

SPEAKER_02

That's why I'm wondering, because you know, like, here's my last day ever, and we're gonna go in and grab my shit.

SPEAKER_01

They're like, fuck, here's your box. Yeah, maybe. Who knows? Uh when I when I left my job, like I that day, we went out for a couple beers, and I went back to get my stuff. I was at five o'clock, my car wasn't working anymore. Just like that, but right? So thank God I was with other people because I had all my stuff was still sitting in the office. I didn't think I thought come Monday morning I wouldn't be able to get in, but yeah, sure enough, five o'clock.

SPEAKER_02

73 years you spent at that job, and look how they treat you. All the money you stole, made from that place.

SPEAKER_01

That's it.

SPEAKER_02

Unbelievable, sir. McDonald's, you have no respect for employees. None.

SPEAKER_01

So that's the tough part, right? I mean, we've talked about this before. It's when all these things happen, these guys demand trades, all these you know moves take place. When you know, like a trade like this happens that Brown wasn't requesting, it's always the narrative is always going to try to spin to it. I'm going where? It was the right thing for the organization.

SPEAKER_02

Right, that's what they always say. It's a business decision.

SPEAKER_01

When the player comes out and demands a trade.

SPEAKER_02

The other way around, why is he so arrogant? Why is he so selfish in his loyalty? Right, money, Kobe never left the Lakers, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

It is what it is. So maybe the last one to ever not do that. Yeah. Right.

SPEAKER_01

So I mean, you had Dirk, you know, you can't. Oh, sorry, Dirk. Yeah, you had lots of guys that that that like, you know, there's a few back in the day, but not anymore.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, like you're never gonna see that.

SPEAKER_01

Never gonna see that again.

SPEAKER_02

Uh what

Lakers Roster Oddities And Wizards Shuffle

SPEAKER_02

do they call the uh women's rugby team, Mike? What's the nickname for the women's New Zealand's rugby team? Uh team is the all blacks.

SPEAKER_01

Oh god, I can't. The tall ferns is the basketball. No, all whites is the soccer team. The tall ferns are. Okay, so hang on. Okay, so sorry.

SPEAKER_02

I'm okay, so I was wrong. So the all-whites are the name of the soccer team for New Zealand. Yes. Also the new name of the LA Lakers.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, right. I was wondering where you're going with that. Right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

This is the whitest team I've ever seen since uh watched Utah back in the 90s.

SPEAKER_01

They told you I was laughing at the Emon show for Richard Jefferson and them.

SPEAKER_02

They were Oh, they're making fun of it too.

SPEAKER_01

Well, they were saying, you know, Shepherd said, like, what happened to the Showtime Lakers, man? These guys are gonna be boring. Stephen A.

SPEAKER_02

Smith goes, you can't win without a black man. You can't win.

SPEAKER_01

Like, okay, I think again, like they have a bench too. They're just talking about the starters, right? The hope. Right now, the starting right now, the projected starting lineup is gonna be an all-white lineup.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

It could be, which might be the first in the history of the NBA in the last 50 years.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I was gonna say the Celtics in the 80s had a like a predominantly white team, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Larry Bird wasn't really white. It's his skin color, it was wrong color. Yeah, so it's uh I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

That's pretty crazy. My biggest thing is that they need to go out and get they need to go out and get defense a little bit with with yeah, with one guy.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, one guy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

We're still looking. Still looking.

SPEAKER_01

Well, they signed uh they they traded uh Ayton, which is not a surprise. Aighton often do his work. Well, they're like, well, are we gonna we're gonna do that? Well, you know where they sent him wizards to be a miserable to be a miserable. They sent them to the wizards.

SPEAKER_02

We also know they sent the wizards AD.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So is AD gonna move now? That's not happening, obviously, right? Well, I don't know. A lot of shifting is going on, sir. Like I said, Harden hasn't signed shit, and neither has fucking.

SPEAKER_01

But AD, like so Ayton now, you have Ayton at the five and you have AD at the four, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

So AD.

SPEAKER_02

And then Trey and then AJ.

SPEAKER_01

I did see that that they were like somebody posted something and said, Are you telling me that all those years AD was begging to get a center on the Lakers and just kept getting ignored? They go and trade AD. Now, like let the, you know, they they they essentially tell LeBron, like, we you know, we'll take you back, but you know, we're not paying you. Right. You know, we value what you did for us, but not that much.

SPEAKER_02

Not enough.

SPEAKER_01

And so all of a sudden those guys leave and they go out and they fucking go get the center that LeBron and AD were asking for the whole time. And so anyway, so this guy says this like this, and like AD actually responded to the tweet. Oh, did he? Yeah, with like a like a crying with a bunch of crying, laughing emojis or whatever, right? So yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I actually had that down about that. Uh I thought that was great. Uh that the wizard they got they got Trey Young on that four-year deal. Then the new guy, I hate trying to say his name, AJ Dabanza. Yeah. Number one pick. Yeah. And then they also got DeAndre Ayton and AD. Like, that team could be okay. We remember we thought they're gonna come out of the basement again, but maybe not.

SPEAKER_01

So Ayton's Ayton's a shell of what he used to be.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he's a 10 and 10.

SPEAKER_01

AD can't stay on the floor. Trey Young's still up in the air, right? So yeah, I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Like I don't think they're gonna be.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not buying into the Washington thing.

SPEAKER_02

Well, not yet, but I'm saying they're not gonna be at the bottom at least. Yeah, I don't think so, anyway, right? So, yeah, I don't know. We gotta see what the Lakers are doing. You know, I uh I was watching uh Canada play, whatch it called the other day. Uh

Ja Morant In Portland Fallout

SPEAKER_02

Shea was playing.

SPEAKER_01

Uh they played uh Puerto Rico, maybe something. Yeah, Puerto Rico.

SPEAKER_02

She looked pretty good as usual. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I was watched uh I watched it, it was like they were waiting by 20 some point.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, it was pretty easy. Pretty easy. It's like the boys didn't need to show up and play in high school. Pulled away from them the first quarter. Yes, yeah. Pretty pretty bad. Yeah. Uh so uh we're gonna laugh at this one. So John Morant went to Portland. Now, back in our day, Portland was called the Jailblazers. So I just find it hilarious that they send John Morant there. But remember what I texted the other day. And uh, if people don't know, they have the tightest gun laws in in the nation there, Portland, where they're going. And uh so here's another thing, too. Like, John Morant's just gonna go to die there. Who do they have? Well, they got Drew Holiday and Damian Lillard. We're both 36 years old, sir. And Damian's coming off at Achilles, right? So John Morant, he's got nobody there with him. That team is gonna die of slow death.

SPEAKER_01

Well, at Portland's Portland just never makes the right choice. They just never make the right decisions. They had that the team uh with Clyde Drexler and and uh Gary Cummings and uh Jerome Kersey back in the world. Oh, right. Jerome Kersey. I think they had the the elder Sabonis there as well, right?

SPEAKER_02

Like uh Eudonis. No. No, who might think. No, uh Yeah, I don't see his name anyway. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Uh they had so they were a really good team, right? Back then. Uh he might not know, he might not have been there yet. He would have come out later. But anyway, Portland was good for a while, but they haven't been relevant in years, and they just keep making the wrong choices. It almost seemed like it started when they drafted uh oh, we were just talking about him last week, the guy that got drafted in front of in front of Durant, Greg Odin.

SPEAKER_02

Oh right.

SPEAKER_01

Poor and that didn't like the poor guy like injured before he ever played a game, right? Like, and then Portland just has never been relevant since. Wonder if we ever got any money. But anyway, oh yeah, he he made money. He still made probably like you know a few million dollars. He would have signed a rookie deal for for tens of millions of dollars back then, right? So yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But yeah, that's uh I mean I I I made the joke to you. I said Adam Silver probably had something to do with that trade. Send him to the place where he can't fuck around with guns. So we'll see what happens there. But it'll be interesting, yeah. You know, he's he's only 26 years old, so but he's you know, gonna be starting.

SPEAKER_01

Somebody's gotta get him into a room, be like, dude, like you know, it's it's great that you're a good basketball player, but now you're in your prime right now. You're in your prime right now, but like this is also it's also an org a professional organization that requires certain things, like you know.

SPEAKER_02

Pretty simple, really, Mike.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it is pretty simple, right?

SPEAKER_02

Two things. Don't wave your fucking gun on Instagram, and number two, don't wave your gun on Instagram. Pretty simple. Yeah. Just put your fucking camera down, you douche. Yeah, you're you're already famous, you don't need to be in well, I guess he wants to be that, doesn't he?

SPEAKER_01

No, you're you're you're you're the the people that you're surrounding yourself with, they need to be the ones to also sit down and say, hey, listen here, man. Like, don't screw this up for yourself, right?

SPEAKER_02

Like, you know, this mom and dad were college, you know, athletes and uh just say son. What are you what are you doing? Yeah, we need to be able to do that.

SPEAKER_01

He's a good player, man. Like he is. I think you know you he I look, I said, remember I said to you, we talked about this before. Um you know, he's similar to like D-Rose, like with that explosiveness, and and so you always worry that it's no if he wants to be loved, which he doesn't go in the dunk contest. Oh yeah, but that's so that's the thing, right? He doesn't care. The way he jumps, the way he moves, he is just like D-Rose.

SPEAKER_02

So I keep worrying that he's gonna one of these days it's gonna rip off because it's so easy for him. Yeah, like he jumps with no effort, it's yeah foolish to watch. Like, I think people forget if you didn't see how good D-Rose was 44-inch vertical or more, yeah. Uh yeah, bananas, yeah, shell of himself.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that those years that that year he won MVP, those years, like uh pretty impressive. Quick and fast, as we were talking about earlier, dominated like at that time at that time for like such a state.

SPEAKER_02

Made people look stupid. Yeah. All right, Joe. Okay, we're on to who?

Contenders Injuries And The Heat Wave

SPEAKER_02

Well, overall in general, I think that uh there was some good trades and some really stupid ones again. It's an interesting uh but there's not over.

SPEAKER_01

No, I mean Miami is now Miami's got you know Bam and Giannis. Yep, which is pretty impressive. I don't know if I I you know I don't again, I don't know if I'm gonna put them right up there as a well, they're now one of the top contenders' knees. Nah, nah, yeah. What else did they have? Right? Not yet.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Um you know, New York obviously would still be favorites then because they have to be. You know, they lost uh their big guy, Mitchell, Robinson, but then they just side uh Andre Drummond. Now Drummond is not gonna be able to Drummond's old, right? So but he's good backup, you know. Big dude, too. Big dude, big body. So so New York would still be kind of in my mind, uh, you know, the the the favorites coming out of the east. Remember, Halliburton's coming back to Indy Indy. I don't know what has Indy made any moves at all this time.

SPEAKER_02

I don't recall seeing any. I was just thinking to myself, Indiana hasn't been in the mix.

SPEAKER_01

Not even because they lost Turner a couple years ago, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, LeBron doesn't go play in the cornfields.

SPEAKER_01

LeBron's not going to Indiana. Yeah, he's not going to Indiana.

SPEAKER_02

Um Reggie would lose his shit.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. I I don't see like the only cold place I see LeBron going to is Cleveland. Otherwise, he's gonna he's gonna be LA, Golden State, or Miami, I think, right? Maybe go down and play in Texas for a year, who knows?

SPEAKER_02

You know what though? You I wonder what kind of guy LeBron is, because obviously he would say to his wife, listen, do you do you want to move? Like, are you cool with us moving for a couple of years?

SPEAKER_01

Well, they've done it multiple times, right?

SPEAKER_02

Right, but you know, yeah, I'm sure he was more like, we're going, like, than asking at that point when they were younger.

SPEAKER_01

You know, now he's gonna well, yeah. I mean, it's going where the money was, right? Like, he's not going for the money this time around. And you know, they've got the the two boys now are out of the house, so it's just uh the the little girl. Um, so I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Right, but see, that's the thing, right? Like, you get the young daughter, you don't want to pull her away from her friends at that age.

SPEAKER_01

Pull her away from her friends at that age.

SPEAKER_02

Right, so that's why, you know, he she might, him and his wife might have made that she goes, listen, you go. You go, we'll come and see when we can, but the girl's still going to school. Well, that's your state of the friends.

SPEAKER_01

Golden State's not that far away.

SPEAKER_02

It's not. See, that's what I keep thinking, because he said family want to be friends, and I keep thinking, all I keep thinking is, oh, I just want to play with, I want to play with Steph. I just I want to play with Steph, like I do. That's my thing. Yeah, it's not gonna be that good, but it's gonna be fun. He's gonna have fun. It's not gonna be, oh my god, look, 48 points between who knows?

SPEAKER_01

So who knows what Butler's gonna look like coming back after the injury?

SPEAKER_02

That's another thing. He's old.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, so this is this, and that's the thing, right? You roll out this this could be Draymond Green is 38. This could be your lineup, right? Steph's 38. Steph at one, Jimmy at the two, LeBron at the three, Draymond at the four. I don't know who's your center. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, who's your center?

SPEAKER_01

Well, they were I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Me either. No idea. But they have to have a center.

SPEAKER_01

Harzingis.

SPEAKER_02

Nah, you can't play the full time, it's gotta be somebody else.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, actually, I know, but I mean that that could be your starting lineup.

SPEAKER_02

That's a hell of a starting lineup, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's a hell of a starting lineup. They've got nothing.

SPEAKER_02

Even though they're old.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe it was a hell of a starting lineup ten years ago.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, right, right. Because now they've become another wheel of a rocket. Right. Yeah. But I mean, stay healthy, which is another thing.

SPEAKER_01

Stay stay healthy, you know, stay, stay, stay relevant throughout, get into the playoffs with that team. I'll give them a chance.

SPEAKER_02

Me too. So I'm gonna I'm gonna rebound this over to uh baseball for a minute. So, you know, last year, oh blue jay fever, right? And so blue jays are sucked this year, right? So far. So so far. So here's the thing, though, there's so many injuries. You know, just looking, so I did some research and I'm like, there are far too many injuries for what a baseball player does, Mike. I'm sorry. Like, you know what I mean? Okay, go to the field, all right. Three outs, okay. Run back in. All right, that guy could not hit see the ball for nine innings, possibly. Possible, right? Okay, the catcher, he's working. Pitcher, they're working. How are your other people so injured all the time? What are you doing?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there's a gym. Get healthy, get in shape, like but I'm wondering if that's well, that maybe that is exactly why, because they gotta go from zero to a hundred, like when something does happen, right?

SPEAKER_02

Like maybe, but at the same time, like in between, don't just sit there and eat your fucking sunflower seeds. Like, you know, like there's way too many injuries for my liking. Way too many for every sport to be honest.

SPEAKER_01

What game was it the other day?

SPEAKER_02

The was baseball?

SPEAKER_01

No, it was the soccer, and they were playing like in that sweltering heat there anyway.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, a couple of them are hot.

SPEAKER_01

I think maybe it was the England game where it was uh the expectation was it wasn't it wasn't gonna be that close. Maybe it was the Portugal game the other day. I can't remember. There was a game the other day that they said like these guys were playing in that scorching heat and that, you know, shit on the hydration brakes all you want, but that was definitely needed in that game, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I thought the hydration break was stupid, but then you know Mbappe said it like this he goes, you know, it's good if we need it, and it's bad if we're like we don't. Exactly. Right. So it's like don't ask a player because that's the answer you're gonna get.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it is, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Right, but it is kind of stupid.

SPEAKER_01

Ask them after the game what they thought. It was like, well, if it helped their team, of course, they're gonna say it was a great idea, right?

SPEAKER_02

Well, here's the thing, you're basically playing four quarters now. Yeah, right, right. Yeah, okay. Yeah, yeah. So you better be in shape. All right. Um get better trainers. I don't know, Mike. Yeah, uh, on some good news. Venezuela

Earthquakes Outages And Canada Post Deal

SPEAKER_02

earthquake pulled some people out alive eight days later, which is very impressive. Good on those people that you kept working, didn't give up. Pretty bad down. No, there's all so many people dying. Yeah, there's oh it's so many equals. Oh, so many.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Two, there's like two seven point, what is it, seven point two earthquakes like back to back?

SPEAKER_02

That's crazy. Yeah, it's crazy. You could have hit anywhere, right? Now, if you don't know, we got a heat wave going across Canada here. And uh yesterday was a power outage from Quebec all the way to the Maritimes. Our boy here, Mikey D's power was out for a while.

SPEAKER_01

Ours was out because there was a fire at one of the substations. So it did uh yeah, so the equipment shut down. So we were we were out, it was I did not start that fire. At least it was in the evening, it was still it was still really hot. Like we had the AC going and and the house was, I think we had the house at a nice cool, cool temperature. That went off. If it would have stayed off all night, I probably would have been sleeping in the basement because it would have gotten too uncomfortable and it was it was off for about four hours, four and a half hours, came back close to midnight.

SPEAKER_02

So I was lucky. Did you know it was going off? Like did you guys get an alarm or a oh no no.

SPEAKER_01

I was sitting outside and Claude was out watering.

SPEAKER_02

Came in and go, Oh, I can't wait to cool off.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, she was out watering her garden, and uh she came back around the house and said, Mike, what happened to the water? Why is the water out? And I was like, I don't know. Oh, because the power walked into the house and was like, Oh, the power's out. Didn't even know it's because I was just sitting outside.

SPEAKER_02

You wouldn't ever think of that on a nice, sunny, not windy.

SPEAKER_01

Well, of course, the automatic assumption was that it was like every it's you know, it was I told you it's everybody got their AC. It was in the 40s with the humidity here that day. And even it was even worse in the city, right? So then you go into the valley, even worse. Crazy heat, right? Like I think up in New Brunswick it was in the mid-40s, it felt like with the humidity up there, right? And that was, you know, and that was day, this would have been day two of it. Yep, right. Uh because we were saying, right? Yeah, it was bad. So it was bad. So I didn't know.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't see 40 too often, but now it's pretty nice today. It's like 25 or something.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's mid-20s. It's still really nice. All the windows open is really nice. Yeah, no, that uh the initial thought was shit, everybody all all up the eastern seaboard is running their ACs.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, right, like yeah, yeah, bananas. Uh and then uh this is one, you know, for the local people. Uh Canada Post got a new deal finally, got a five-year contract, so they worked in their overtime and everything else. So good on them, Canada Post. Uh did have a granddad that worked there and an aunt.

SPEAKER_01

So it was one of the things that they were gonna stop doing door-to-door mail service, and they were just gonna start doing like the community mailboxes.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I I think they've been doing that for a while, but I do.

SPEAKER_01

I know we that's what we have out here.

SPEAKER_02

The city is the problem, right? Because you basically every well, not every place, but every domicile is a push push-in letter holder. Like you know, they that's how it is. There's no fucking mailbox, it's like inside, like, you know, so and and how else would you get like say somebody lives in an apartment complex? Canada Post got to go in and put the 75 or 50 or how many different you know, apartments are in the building. Yeah, so you're still gonna have to have people walking them in. Yeah, you know, so regardless of if it's not door to door, it still kind of is door to door. Yes, it might be in a car.

SPEAKER_01

It still is, but you if you go to the community boxes instead, you don't have to go to each individual house. You just drive up to the box and you kind of like put it into each of the individual.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so they better start fucking putting out a million of these community boxes because think all the time.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's that's that's what they would have to do.

SPEAKER_02

Right, and good luck find a place for those, right? Yeah, no shit in the city, I don't know. Yeah, no shit. Yeah, crazy, crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so it doesn't think I have a lot of room, like we have ours down here, and then there's another one.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, they're everywhere.

SPEAKER_01

I see them all over the place. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um,

Listener Stats Latvia Surprise And Sign Off

SPEAKER_02

our top five USA, Canada, Brazil, Latvia.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, Latvia, that's new.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and then the Netherlands. No, yeah. Like Latvia. Oh, you know what we mentioned about Latvia, Mike? Do you remember? About the girl guy ratio.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, is that what it was?

SPEAKER_02

And some guys like, I agree. Yeah, or something. Yeah, like Latvia come right out of nowhere.

SPEAKER_01

Shit. Our top five. Uh-oh. Does that mean like when we get one person follow us, they automatically go into the top five?

SPEAKER_02

Well, I don't think it's one. It's a percent, right? But yeah, I'm just I'm making the joke. Yeah, that's so true. There's so many no women here. We all men gay. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, I thought that was funny. I thought you'd laugh at the Latvia, because I when I read it, I was like Latvia. Yeah. Of all things. Yeah. Anyway. Definitely. All right. So uh that's it for today. We're gonna enjoy the rest of the afternoon here and a bunch of games on later tonight. So we'll see those games as well. And uh, like we're saying, that game Mexico is gonna be bananas. That'll be an interesting one, yeah. Oh man, the Mexicans love their soccer.

SPEAKER_01

They do in Mexico City. Look out. I think they say that it's pretty it's pretty normal when this does happen, but they were talking about how uh whatever game it was, Mexico when Mexico scored, like it registered on the the the Richter scale.

SPEAKER_02

On the on the high on the decibels, yeah, yeah, it's not you could feel it. Yeah, you could feel the this eh they love their sports.

SPEAKER_01

Just like anything else, the closer you are to the sensors. Like, of course, it'll probably register on the sensor, right? Like these things are these things have to register earthquakes from the other side of the world, so of course they're pretty sensitive in the city.

SPEAKER_02

Well, here's the thing, too. Mexico's been good for a long time. I think it could be Mexico's always good, yeah. Yeah, good teams, man. Good boxers too, whatever, right? Yeah. Uh so anyway, so that's it for us today. So once again, our sponsor is W.g. And right here is the uh code you can use, Bobby, Mikey D, for 10% off.
