When life doesn't make sense, where do you find joy?
In this week's sermon, Adam Brewer kicks off a new series through the Book of James—a letter written to persecuted Christians scattered across the ancient world. James doesn't offer empty promises or feel-good platitudes. Instead, he invites us into a radical reframe: consider it pure joy when you face trials of many kinds.
But what does that actually mean when you're in the middle of sickness, marriage struggles, parenting chaos, or workplace pressure?
Adam unpacks the difference between happiness and biblical joy (spoiler: joy is rooted in God's grace, not our circumstances). He explores how God uses trials like a silversmith refines precious metal—purging away what doesn't belong so we can become who He designed us to be. And he introduces the game-changing question: God, why is this happening? paired with God, what are you doing in me?
This sermon is for anyone wrestling with pain, asking hard questions, and longing for a heavenly perspective on the mess they're walking through.
