"Isn’t it time that we put our gloves on and get to work for King Jesus?"
It is easy to look at the broken state of our world, read the discouraging statistics about declining faith, and feel completely frozen by the sheer magnitude of the rubble. We often find ourselves stuck in a cycle of simply lamenting the breakdown of community and spiritual life around us. But what if God isn’t calling us to look at another report or spreadsheet? What if He is calling us to look at our actual neighbors, coworkers, and friends, and realize that we are called to actively step into the brokenness alongside Him?
In this episode, we dive deep into Matthew 9 and Nehemiah 2–3 to see what happens when a Christ-centered, Spirit-filled family unites under one common kingdom mission. We explore Nehemiah’s nighttime journey through the ruins of Jerusalem, discovering that we must be willing to walk through the rubble if we want to restore the ruins. Life can be challenging, but God's story is big enough to handle those challenges and offers real hope for your hardest questions.
Whether you feel like you have nothing to bring to the table or you are overwhelmed by the scope of the need, remember that God has uniquely gifted you and empowered you with the Holy Spirit for this very moment. It’s time to move past theory and into practice where real faith meets real life. Let’s band together, put our gloves on, and actively bless the world by making disciples right where God has planted us.
Key Takeaways:
- Move Beyond the Report: It is easy to lament the statistics of a broken world, but God calls us to move beyond observing the rubble and actually step into the brokenness to engage it directly.
- You Are Exactly What is Needed: Much like a volunteer crew cleaning up after a massive storm, every member of the church family has a unique, valued role to play—your specific gifts are necessary for the collective work of the kingdom.
- Walk in the Rubble to Restore the Ruins: Nehemiah didn't lead from a distance; he inspected the broken walls firsthand. True restoration requires us to physically and relationally enter into the messiness of real life.
- A Unified Front Enforces Endless Possibilities: When the people of God unite under one collective mission—the Great Commission—seemingly impossible walls can be rebuilt with incredible speed.
