hat NLP Really Means

hree YouTube Tips For Beginners

Fran

Exploring building. When type of ideas takeaway. Let's ignite our creative potential together. Hello and welcome to Melancholy Coaching Podcast, the show that highlights different business owners and ideas. I'm Fran, your NLP and business coach, and I'm here with Evan to introduce season seven. Hey. Which actually rhymes. It does. At Melancholy Coaching, we share beginner-friendly content, business training and self-improvement. And it's designed to inspire newcomers, refresh existing knowledge, and keep you motivated to grow. As a coach, I help you tidy up what came before, ground you in the now, and move you forward by blending business strategy and neurolinguistic programming. So coaching is very forward-focused, but it's about you know just tidying up the past, centering you now, and then moving on with plans and what you want to do. So that includes removing kind of limiting beliefs or you know, this and that, whatever you wanted to work on. So neurolinguistic programming gets shortened to NLP, not to be confused with the language one. There's there's another one that comes under NLP. This is neurolinguistic programming, though it does involve a certain amount of language. I can't remember what the other one's called. So it's a method to reprogram your brain by changing how your thoughts and words shape your daily habits and reactions. But think of neuro as your body's operating system. It's the process where your brain takes in raw data from the outside that just comes in, it's unfiltered, just coming in. And then you get it through your senses. So if we go on the five five senses, don't be challenging me on this, we're going with five, not the others at the moment, okay? So it's your visual, um, which is sight, your auditory, sound, kinesthetic, which is touch and feeling, and then your olfactory, which is smell, and gustatory, which is taste. So we're going on those five senses, and that translates into a map of reality. So it all kind of comes in, you know, it's your senses, and then your brain translates it into your map of reality, which just means your version of reality, because we've all got different versions of reality. And essentially, neuro is how you filter all that noise and create your own unique experiences of life. Linguistics is the study of language, so both to communicate with others and with yourself, so it's your own self-talk, and that shapes your reality as well. Programming is like the brain's mental software, so it's to do with automatic habits that you build up. So NLP helps update these programs to get better results, and it's all quite it all sounds quite difficult, doesn't it? Yeah. And every time somebody asks me what what neurolinguistic program is, I'm sure I give a different answer each time. And it's it's always around, you know, what it is, but there's there's a bit of a kind of almost a broad interpretation, but just basically it's the way that we translate our thoughts and our words, and how we then speak to others and translate their thoughts and words. So it's very, very interesting stuff. Interesting. This is why you can use reprogramming and things like that as well, you know, because it's it's just just take the your your voice, for example. So if you've got a critical voice, is all that reprogramming means is that you kind of develop a habit to speak to yourself more kindly. And there's tools and techniques, you know, in which you can use to help yourself with that. And as usual, no doubt I've pronounced something wrong. Sometimes I get called out on my pronunciation, and I'm like, look, as you know, I'm doing what I can here. Yeah. And as tech support, Evan is on hand with video creation, editing, WordPress, YouTube podcasting, amongst other things. Self-taught. So we kind of just bundle all the things up that that you've learned, and they're the things that we use and help us to move forward. And generally we can help you with values, whether that's to do with your own personal values or your business values, your mission, your vision, value proposition, getting into rhyming again. Yeah. So back to one of our favourite topics, which is YouTube, and I say back to because me and Evan constantly talk about YouTube. So, Evan, what are your top three? We're going to go on beginner tips. So, what are your top three beginner tips for starting a YouTube channel?

Evan

Right. My top tip is don't wait for the perfect camera or script, just start. As most top creators actually start just using with their phone. Just use their phone to like record and everything. So that's my top one. Because once you start, like you'll kind of evolve. My second tip is make good thumbnails with engaging relevant graphics, otherwise, people won't click at all to see your content in the first place. And my third tip is add a combination of short and long form videos to get people interested in your channel.

Fran

And there's there's other things that can be done with those beginner tips as well. So thumbnails are the initial picture that you see, and they tend to be like a cover that goes on the long form videos. And I must admit, they I noticed that they would draw my eye in or they won't. And with the short form videos, there's a way of linking those back to a long form video, isn't there? So that they can watch a short, and if they're interested in the content, they can click to find the original source or to find a long form video that relates to it. So there's lots of other little things that can happen with even just these beginner tips, isn't there?

Evan

Yeah, definitely, definitely. And as you kind of learn as you go, like I did, and then you learn how to use like the back end of YouTube, it kind of opens up more and more as you get. So yeah.

Fran

Yeah, I suppose it's it's similar to the whole the business basics because that can just get more and more and more. You know, we've positioned ourselves the beginning of people's journeys for a reason, and it's because we found it really hard to get going. We're mostly self-taught. My coaching training come from credible sources, so did the business strategy. So I'm certified in in both, and I've got you know relevant qualifications in them, and you've got some that are kind of relevant to what you do on your YouTube channel because you've got cryptozoology and things like that, so it's completely different. But other than that, a lot of this we're we're self-taught in it, aren't we? So we know how difficult it is, firstly, to ask for help, but then to get help from credible sources that won't just hard sell at you as well. So we've got a lot of approachable, very beginner friendly content that's all complimentary, but also it's good for refreshing existing knowledge because there's always going to be gaps.

Evan

Yeah, yeah.

ur Channels And Sleep-Friendly Audio

ebsite Updates And Tech Reality

Fran

You know, in anything you do, there's always gaps. And we're learning and growing as we go along, and it's all we do is hold our hand out and help, you know, other people along as well. So if you can find us on if you can find us on YouTube, mark at me. If you want to, if you want to, you can find us on YouTube. So we're on there as Mystery Mythos, and that's mystery underscore mythos, and that's a radio drama channel, predominantly science fiction. And that's Evan has built that channel up, haven't you? And then we've got Melancholy Mentor, which is melancholy underscore mentor, and that's a radio drama channel that's based on mostly on classic literature. There's a sort of slight crossover here. In some of it, but predominantly melancholy mentor is radio dramas. And by that, what we mean is we take audio, so it's in public domain, it's all legal, get the audio, we put a video with it, and we've built a channel up with that content. And some of it is black screen episodes for sleep. They will never have, well, currently they don't have adverts on them. We don't plan to put anything like that on them so that people can rest, have a restful time listening to them. And they're black screen for anybody that doesn't have a premium version of YouTube so that it will still play if you if your screen is off, or if you've got to leave it on so that the screen is just black, because generally I don't quite know all the differences, but with the paid version, you get screen on screen and you can turn your phone off and still have it playing. I don't think you get that option on the free version. No, no, no, you don't. So we're trying to make it as easy as possible for people to access the stories, aren't we? Yeah. And and then we've also got melancholy coaching. So that's where this podcast goes out as well in a video version. So melancholy coaching is all about the podcast at the moment. So this is series seven. Who knew we'd get this far? I know. We didn't really we didn't realise that like we we would get this moment much here. I go again, this much momentum. And I do plan on adding training videos to that channel. I've been saying for the longest time that I'm going to, and it will happen. Every now and again we get our own tech issues because we're on a very basic kind of thing here of putting things together, and it's how we know how to help other people because we're starting with you know, not a lot of money and we're putting things together ourselves, but every now and again we have a bit of an issue, we have to kind of just work on that for a little while and come back. So the training videos are just taking a little bit longer to get together because of what we want to link to them. Yeah. So we've kind of been working on that in the background. And if you're interested in more content like this, be sure to visit www.melancolimentor.com. Follow us for the latest updates. That's me and Evan. And when I say me, it's actually Evan that does the that does YouTube channel, not the YouTube channel, you do the website, you do the YouTube channels as well, don't you? You do the website, and that's where the WordPress knowledge comes into it.

Evan

Yeah.

Fran

Yeah. So didn't start off small, did you, Evan? Just went straight in there.

Evan

Yeah, it's been quite taxing at times.

Fran

Yeah, trying to learn it all.

Evan

Yeah.

Fran

And those crafty little plugins that every now and again play up and you have to go back in, don't you, and sort all the tech out.

Evan

Yeah, yeah, you just never know with those plugins. When they update, sometimes then it it kind of crushes out the whole site. So, you know, you've got to keep an eye on them.

Fran

And we've we have previously said in in episodes that there's gonna be more added to your channel, isn't there? And we haven't done that yet either.

Evan

No, there will be more. A podcast, I'm aiming for, a shop. Yeah, and kind of in the background trying to get some designs together, and I've and I've got a little bit more forward with that, but it's still not there. I have started adding shorts though, so that was that was one thing I wanted to do. So I have done, I've implemented that, but the rest of it is just it's coming behind. We're getting it. We're slow and steady. Yeah.

earning As We Go

Fran

Slow and steady, aren't we? And then in this series, we've got a few interviews coming up that are with other business owners that have just really varied, like the other seasons, really varied. So we've learned and and grown through this as we've gone along because we've never done podcasting before, we've never done anything interview-based before, or had to edit any of any of this kind of stuff. So if you kind of, if you've been following us from the beginning, you'll see how much we've just tightened it all up a little bit, we've adapted a little bit, and you know, hopefully we're putting out even better content.

Evan

Yeah, yeah, that's the aim.

essy Imperfect Action Send-Off

Fran

I know that's the aim. Well, you know, you get better, don't you? Just we haven't let it held hold us back, have we? We've kind of that's me, that is, with the messy and perfect action. I'm just like, let's just do it. Yeah, just do it. And you're like, ah, I know I know what's the worst that could happen. Nobody had listened. Yeah. So until next time, until next time, stay curious, keep igniting your creative potential and do the messy, imperfect action. Just start it. If you're thinking of starting something, just just have a go at it. You know, our brain likes to build up evidence of things, and it's got plenty of evidence of us failing or things not working out because that weirdly that holds us in a safe place because that's your brain's primary primary function, is just to keep you safe. So just kind of you know, push through that and give it some evidence that you can actually achieve the things that you want to.

Evan

Yeah. Yay.

Fran

Until next time. Bye. Thank you for listening. I'd love for you to subscribe and visit www.melancolymentor.com for the latest updates. Till next time, stay curious and keep igniting your creative potential.
