Soundbox Archive is a project dedicated to Record/Sample and Showcase sounds of the people, instruments with Indigenous roots: defined as sound production tools that are deeply connected to the history of rituals, ceremonies, and storytelling of people around the globe, highlighting the expansive intersections of identities, sounds, and cultures within its community.

Jimmy Lim went to Bali for Balinese Gamelan Festival, archiving sounds of the show and the people whose hands created the instrument: I Wayan Sukarta, a 74 year old Balinese Gamelan Craftsmen in Gianyar, Bali.
These are sounds deeply rooted in the veins of Bali, so to say that I “found” them is an insult. They found me, in my desire to understand time, and resonances that ripples with it.
