This We Confess | The Spirit: Giver of Life

The Apostles’ Creed says it simply: “I believe in the Holy Spirit.” The Nicene Creed expands it: “We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life…” But behind those words is a sweeping story.  God’s Spirit has been moving through all of scripture and all of eternity.

We see Him hovering over the waters at creation, breathing life into Adam, reviving dry bones in Ezekiel’s vision, and raising Jesus from the dead. That same Spirit now dwells in us, and it's not as a vague force or a distant power, but as the Lord Himself, fully God, present and active.

The Spirit comforts and convicts, guides and speaks, and breathes life where there is none. Without Him, the Christian life is not just difficult. It’s impossible. But with Him, even the driest bones can live again.

So here’s the question: if the Spirit really is the giver of life, what might He be breathing into you today?
