Unstoppable Promises | Exodus 1:8-22

Athens Church

Exodus opens with hope where we see God’s people growing and flourishing in Egypt. But a new Pharaoh rises, one who doesn’t remember Joseph. Refuge becomes prison, and blessing turns into burden. Pharaoh’s fear twists Israel’s growth into a threat, and he tries to crush God’s people through slavery and death.

Yet in the middle of Pharaoh’s schemes, two ordinary midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, stand firm. They fear God more than Pharaoh, and their courage is remembered for generations while Pharaoh’s name is forgotten.

This is more than Israel’s story.  It’s also ours. What fear and pride mean for harm, God bends toward His promises. He still sees, he still delivers, and he still honors the quiet faithfulness of His people.

The question becomes, whose voice has been the loudest in our lives lately? And what would actually change if God's voice was louder?
