A Change of Pace | Exodus 23:10–33
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
This sermon from Exodus 23:10–33 highlights how God was shaping Israel not only through rules but through rhythms. After rescuing them from Egypt’s relentless pace, God gave His people practices of rest, generosity, and remembrance: Sabbath, the sabbatical year for the land, and yearly festivals. These rhythms reminded Israel that life, provision, and identity come from God, not constant striving. By building rest and worship into their lives, God was forming a community that trusted Him and cared for others.
The passage also shows that God leads His people forward gradually or “little by little.” Rather than rushing them into the promised land, He was forming them along the way. This ultimately points to Jesus Christ, who invites weary people to find true rest and trust His faithful leadership.
