Welcome Back And Why New Music

Hello everyone, welcome back to Hill Out Loud Sai. I hope you guys are doing very, very well out there. It is a Tuesday, and we are August 4th today. Man, it's been about two weeks since incarceration, and I'm still missing everyone there. And I really, really hope you guys are doing great out there and taking care of your mental health and each other and everyone else that you love. So today's episode is going to be a little different because we're going to be talking about new like new things, finding new music. And I think that's very important for everyone. Especially when you find new music out there that really changes the way you think or the way you listen to music. Especially for a lot of people out there who are alone. And some people are alone because of their own decisions, or they're alone because of situations. But you're never truly alone. Even when I was alone before, I think that for me, working on myself and finding new music helped me out a lot. So today that's what I want to do with you guys and share with you some new bands that we have discovered, or that I have discovered, over the last couple months. Two of the bands I've known for about two years, and I've been waiting to see them for so long. And another great thing about new bands is that they work really, really hard to win you over. And that's a really cool thing. So with that said, we are going to talk about a few cool, cool, cool bands here today. Actually, four. And speaking of new things, definitely check out Electric Callboys, The Way You Are. It is fantastic. The video is very well done. So is the song. I like to think of it as Hannibal Lecter wrote a love song to someone. But you can tell the Electric Callboy guys just had a lot of fun making that video. And it's super entertaining to watch. With that said though, I think this episode might be called the Sonic Hunt, but we'll see what happens. So

Breaking The Musical Rut

again, welcome back. So take a quick mental inventory of your main playlist right now. How many of those songs have you skipped today? How many have you heard 500 times? Now for me, I love hearing my old playlist and my old bangers. But we've all been there. You get stuck in a musical rut, you cycle through the same ten tracks until they completely lose their magic. But then it happens. You get shuffled on a random playlist, or you stumble onto a tiny independent band. You hear a rift or a vocal hook that completely hits you out of nowhere. Your posture changes and you get literal chills. Today we're gonna talk about that exact feeling and why does finding the music make us feel so incredibly alive. Now,

Dopamine And The Science Of Discovery

there's a whole chemistry and science behind this, so not a whole idea. So it turns out that Russian isn't just an emotional reaction, it's actually heartwired into your biology. When you find something new, or listen to a song that you know by heart and not find something new, your brain is essentially an autopilot. It knows exactly when the chorus drops, it knows when the exact lyric is coming next. There's comfort in that, sure, but there's no excitement. The moment you play a brand new band, or you find something new, sorry, your prefrontal cortex actually lights up. Your brain goes into predictive overdrive trying to guess where the melody is going. When an artist pulls off a surprise twist, an unexpected beat change, or a crazy vocal run, your brain treats it like a successful treasure hunt and floods your system with dopamine. That's the happy chemical. Think of it as like a lottery run for your ears. Your brain literally rewards you for exploring. But it goes deeper than just brain chemistry. Music is how we map out who we are. When you find a new band, especially an underground or independent ones, you aren't just finding sounds. You're finding a community. You join this unspoken, exclusive club of people who just get it. Think about the last time you recommended a tiny artist to a close friend and they actually loved it. That feeling of shared discovery releases oxytocin. That is the bonding hormone. Finding new music connects us to other human beings in a way that regular small talk just can't touch. It gives us a voice when we can't find our own words. And I couldn't agree with that more. I've had friends that send me music for words that they don't want to say. I've done it.

Band Spotlight Accuse The Villain

But with that said, we are going to jump into our first little band. And I say little because they're not big yet, but I know they will be. So this first one is going to be by Accused the Villain. And Accuse the Villain, a personal friend of mine. We're gonna read the bios of these bands real quick, just that way you know you have an idea of who they are before we play the music. So Accuse a Villain was founded in 2022. Accused a Villain brings together a group of passionate musicians dedicated to pushing the boundaries of rock music. Our authentic sound and innovative songwriting have quickly captured the hearts of our listeners, establishing us as a well-respected band in the local metal community or music community. These guys will rock your socks off every time. And again, they work really, really hard to entertain you. So with that said, we're going to play Fallout and we'll be right back.

Uh, and that was Accuse the Villain.

So, the lead singers Kevin, who great, great guy, known him for years, Jason on drums, and I think, well, it didn't give me much more, but I will say, all the guys on that band and accused a villain, great guys to talk to and watch, they did such a good job at the incarceration campgrounds. And I'm going to go see them again in October, I'm pretty sure. We've been trying to work on an interview schedule for a while there, but it will happen one day. But again, go check out Accusa Villain. They're a great, great, great band. And in an effort to finding more new things, I also have three more.

Band Spotlight Dunfor

So this other band is out of Florida, and they're called Dunfor. Parker Shogren is their lead singer. And on their bio, it's kind of funny, it says, What even is a Dunfor? Dunfor is Parker Shogren on vocals and guitar, Riley Stewart on vocals and guitar, Zach Loaf, Lee guitar, low screams, Leo Cartelli, bass, and Cam on drums. I have a cam on my own, so I really, really appreciate that. And it makes me happy. But these guys do a really, really good job as well. Parker Shogun is actually a teacher, and teachers are really, really badass because anytime that someone has a love for teaching someone something, it should be appreciated, and we appreciate teachers around here. So with that said, we're going to play a song by Dunfor called Peace by Peace that I think you guys really enjoy. He has a very unique voice and very good all-around guy, and I'm sure the guys in his band are great guys too. So with that said, we'll be back after Dunfour Peace by Peace. And again, really, really nice guy. I see Parker all over the socials just about every day. He's just working it out here, and I'm sure the rest of his band is too. But again, the band is done for, and the song is called Peace by Peace.

Band Spotlight Silver Tongue

So our next band is someone who's actually really, really, really tiny, because I never even heard of them until the incarceration campground show. But the next band is called Silver Tongue. And these guys they rocked my socks off too. And they were super nice, like super donor. So, about Silver Tongue. Silver Tongue didn't just arrive. They exploded onto the hard rock metal scene with intensity, unforgettable hooks, and a live show to turn heads and won hearts of fans one stage at a time. This mid-Atlantic Powerhouse carved their name into the Hard Rock Metal scene with hard work and grip. Five mainstream rock radio hits, never too late. You and me, done my best, and you're fine. Well, I didn't even know they had a lot of milestones. Three million YouTube views are rising, Maryland Music Awards, and they've toured a lot. But so I guess they have been around for a while. But I will say this, they rock guys, so please, please, please check them out. You will not be disappointed. And with that said, we are going to play a song from Silver Tongue, and I will be right back. Sorry I didn't tell you that before the song started, but man, when I heard that song, I was like, God, it was really, really good. Very well done. And it made me happy, made me shake my butt in my head. Again, check them out. They are silver tongue. And this next band, like, you know, accused a villain, I've been watching for a long time, and I loved, absolutely love their performance at the incarceration campgrounds. I mean, of course, I was fanboying out, but I will say this there's bands that come around all the time. And then you have new bands like we had mentioned earlier. You hear like a new voice, a new riff, or whatever. And it stops you from it. You're like, whoa, what's that?

Band Spotlight Alex

And it was really cool to see Alex performing. And that's who's playing next. And the song is called Into the Unknown. But let's go over her bio real quick. Because there's a lot here that I did not know. So Alex is a singer, songwriter, and pianist hailing from the musical hub of New York. She's captivated audiences, or they have, sorry, with her unique blend of classical finesse and rock and rock-infused energy. Born and raised in a world of classical music, Alex's upbringing laid the foundation for her exceptional talent and artistry. However, it was her burning desire to break free from tradition tradition and explore the electrifying realm of rock that truly defined her musical journey. And you can definitely tell they even do a cover of Hero, which is fantabulous. And the other members of the band are super, super nice. Like even she was super nice. Like they worked so hard to entertain everyone. And it made me really happy seeing other people fulfill their childhood dreams or their vision, their goals this that past weekend. And I love seeing that with any new band because I know that it's nerve-wracking. It's nervous, will they like you? Will they not like you? But I will say this all the bands that I've shared today, plus this next one, I believe that they will be the next big things in music, and you guys should keep an eye on them. Of course, there's other bands out there, other bands that played Increase Rearching Campgrounds. I just chose these four because these were the ones that I focused the most on to bring to you guys. So, with that said, we're gonna play Alex into the Unknown, and we'll be back. Some people compare her voice, which is as great as it is, it's fucking phenomenal. Um they compare her to Evanescence or Spirit Box. I don't like to compare female singers in that way. Yes, it sounds like it, but she has a voice all of her own. And you can really tell when you listen to all of her different ranges, she's definitely a class by herself. And it'd be like comparing Lizzie Hale to another singer. Hey, you just don't do that. Let people be who they are, but definitely share them, share all four of these bands because finding new things makes us happy. I mean, it makes me happy, right? So, but in our last two segments of the show.

How To Hunt For New Sounds

So, how do we break out of our comfort zones? Streaming algorithms are great, but they usually just feed us more of what we already like. And it's bullshit because it just keeps us safe. If you want that real dopamine hit, you gotta go hunt for it. Go check out the independent charts on Bandcamp, dive into hyper-specific subreddits for obscure genres. Go to a local venue and watch the opening act instead of just showing up for the headliner. Force your brain to experience something unpredictable. And I I try to tell myself that every day. Do something every day that scares you. I mean, not horrifyingly scary, but it takes you out of your comfort zone a little bit because you just never know. I mean, who knew that when I was nine years old and I wanted to jump into mosh pits? And I have. I've done it. I can't do it so much no more because I'm getting old, but you know, it'd be like that. So again, if you're out there and you're feeling alone, try out some new music, try up a new routine, try up anything that meets the humdrum of our daily lives. Because, you know, I want you guys to be here forever and ever and ever. And I also want to be here forever and ever. And I don't want loneliness to ever take you out. I know it's hard. But with that said, I brought you four new friends today that'll help you fight the lonelies. And I really hope you guys take care of each other until the next episode.
