In this episode of Woman in the Word (Part 2 of our series on Mark 11:22–25), we continue exploring Jesus’ call to “have faith in God” by focusing on the powerful connection between faith, prayer, and forgiveness.
Jesus doesn’t just invite us to pray boldly—He challenges us to examine our hearts. In this episode, we unpack what it means to pray with faith and expectation, trusting that God hears and responds according to His will. We also take a deeper look at the role of forgiveness in our spiritual lives, and how holding onto offense can hinder both our prayers and our intimacy with God.
Through Scripture and reflection, you’ll be encouraged to release what you’ve been carrying, align your heart with God’s truth, and step into a freer, more faith-filled way of living. If you’ve been praying but feel stuck, or if forgiveness feels difficult, this conversation will gently guide you toward healing and renewed faith.
Don’t miss this powerful conclusion to our two-part series—an invitation to pray boldly, forgive freely, and trust God more deeply than ever before.

Welcome to Woman in the Word, the podcast where we dive into scripture, ask real questions, and walk through the Bible together, one honest conversation at a time. I'm Felicia Parker, I'm your host, and I'm so glad you're here. So whether you're new to the Word or you've been studying for years, there's a seat at the table for all of us. So grab your coffee, open your journal, or put on your walking shoes, and let's get into it. Hey, happy Wednesday. Welcome to the Woman in the Word podcast. I'm so excited that you're joining me today. We are jumping back into Have Faith in God. This is part two. I'm excited to get into it. So let's go. If you've ever had any past trauma, hurt, pain, failures, understand doubt will eat that for lunch. If you don't submit those past things to Christ and leave them at the feet of Jesus, doubt will use those to grow like that petri dish from the example of the experiment. It will grow and it will mature and it will develop in a way where it becomes, like the word describes, a stronghold. It will become like a prison in your mind, and whatever God tries to speak to your heart, doubt will immediately come in and try to rob you of that truth. You have to determine in your mind that no matter how it turned out last time, no matter what they said last time, no matter how I felt, no matter what it looked like, I am going to have faith in God. And hear what I'm saying: faith in God cannot be partial. It has to be 100%. It can't be some faith in God and a little bit of doubt hanging around. Some faith in God and some unbelief. It has to be 100% God, I believe you because you're God and you're true, and you have been true to your word 100%. That's what you have to say day in and day out. You wake up, you see a circumstance, I have faith in God. Your finances are having some challenges. I have faith in God that He's a provider. Your health is acting up. I have faith in God that He's a healer. Your marriage is struggling. I have faith in God that He's a restorer. Your children are acting up. I have faith in God that they will walk in all that God has called them to walk in, the good plan that He has, and they will do the good works that He has predestined for them before the foundation of the world. You have got to get in the word so that you can build your faith so strong that when doubt shows up, it's too nervous to even ring your doorbell. And there have been times in my life, I will be honest, that doubt wasn't afraid to ring my doorbell, it wasn't afraid to knock on my door, it wasn't afraid to open the door, and it was not afraid to come sit on my couch and eat my snacks. Why? Because I was not in the word, pouring it on me like a flowing stream of water, constantly taking in the word, like it talks about in Joshua 1, meditating on it day and night, like it talks about in Exodus, talking about it when I wake up, when I leave my house, when I'm sitting at my table, when I'm talking with my children. It wasn't like that. So I would pop in and pop out, maybe get a word because I have a situation that I'm facing. But doubt knew, oh, your faith is not that strong. I'm coming for you. I'm about to eat your lunch today, Felicia. Even though you think you've got a word, you don't have it in your heart so deep that you can say to that mountain, be lifted up and cast it into the sea, and you're gonna see it happen because you have faith in God. And I want to ask someone today, if you are like I was, you would come in and read your word every now and then and not experience all that God has for you because your faith was not on a firm foundation. I want you to know God is not mad at you. He's calling you back to Him. He's saying, Hey, get back in this word so your faith can be built on nothing but me and my truth in this word, because I want you to know this word is the truth. I don't care who tells you they've got the truth. If it's not the word, it's not the truth. And if it's not the word, it will be a faith that is built on a shaking foundation. It talks about that in scripture, about the person that built on the sand, which is let's use for this example, faith in the world, faith in their accomplishments, faith in their title, faith in their family, faith in their finances, faith in their connections. That's building your house on the sand. But when it says those that build their house on the rock on a firm foundation, that is the word of God. And when you do that, you will be so rooted and grounded in having faith in God that doubt will say, Oh, I'm not even gonna ring their doorbell because I know it's not gonna work. I'll be wasting my time if I show up. I want you to be that dwelling place that doubt says, uh-uh, I'm not going to that house because it's not gonna be worth my time. Hey, I just wanted to take a quick pause in our conversation and introduce you to uh the lover of your soul if you have yet to meet him. I would love to lead you in the prayer of salvation. So if you'd repeat after me, that'd be awesome. Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and I'm in need of a savior. I confess that Jesus is Lord and I want him to be the Lord of my life. I believe that you raised him from the dead to rule and reign for all of eternity. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with the precious blood of Jesus. I thank you, Lord, for dying on the cross just for me. In Jesus' name, amen. Hey, if you just prayed that prayer, I want to welcome you to the family of God and just say congratulations. We see in James chapter 4, verse 7, it says, So humble yourselves before God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. And I want you to hear it in the amplified, it says, So submit to the authority of God, resist the devil, stand firm against him, and he will flee from you. So now I'm gonna read it in context to Mark 11, chapter 4, verse 22 through 25. So submit to having faith in God, resist the devil and all of his doubt, and he and his doubt will flee from you. And I need you to understand this resisting is an action that takes your effort, not just God. You have to actively resist the devil. It's almost like if you're in the gym and they say, okay, if you want to, you know, tone your body and you want to get more muscle definition, all these things, you need to add resistance. Same thing when it comes to the enemy. That resistance that you apply to the enemy is building up your muscle of faith in God. So when the enemy comes in and he says, You're not more than a conqueror, you say, Oh, absolutely, my God said that I am more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus. When he says, Oh, you'll be sick all of your life, no, you say, My God is a healer and he says that I will experience divine health. You if he says you're gonna be in lack all of the days of your life, no, you remind him, no, the word says that my God is a supplier and he'll supply all my need according to his riches, not according to me and my job. You have to get in the gym of faith and begin to lift those weights called the Word of God, hide it in your heart, get it in your mouth like Joshua 1, meditate on it day and night, lifting that weight every moment of every day. So when doubt shows up, you have the ability to resist, to stand against, and you will watch doubtfully because doubt will realize there is so much faith here. There's been so much faith muscle built up here, there's no space for me to reside. And y'all, I want you to hear me. If we don't get in the word and we don't apply the word to our life, to our situations, speaking the word over our situations, we will never overcome the attack of doubt. And y'all, we won't walk in what Jesus says we can walk in when he says to have faith in God. He says, you can say to anything, move out the way and it move. We can believe for anything that lines up with scripture, and we can see it if we have faith in God. And Jesus is saying, This is what I want you to walk in. I want you to be able to say to any situation that's in front of you, to any overwhelming circumstance. I want you to say to cancer, I want you to say to debt, I want you to say to marriage challenges, I want you to say to say to a troubled child, my word, and you see it come to pass. But it says you can't have any doubt. You have to really believe in order to see. And today, God is calling us to have faith in him so that we can really see what it is we believe. What if your faith wasn't just surviving but flourishing? Woman in the Word is for the woman who wants to grow deeper in scripture, walk boldly in purpose, and stay rooted even in dry seasons. This is more than just a book, it's a journey. Woman in the Word, flourish in your faith, walk in your purpose, and do it in your own style. So today, let's not have more faith in our titles, our friends, our connections, our likes, our income, our marriage, our children, whatever it is, more than we have faith in God. Let's pour all of our faith into God and his word, trusting that his word is true, that he is an honest God that can be trusted 100% of the time. And let's rely on him more than even the chair we sit on to hold us up. And we say, Oh, I'm just I'm just gonna rest here and I don't even think about it. You guys, there's times I sit on my couch, I mean, all the time, where I sit on my couch and I don't even think, well, this thing hold me up. That's how confident I need to be in my faith in God that the enemy is coming in with the lie that I'm gonna be sick. I sit back, I kick my feet up on my recliner, and I say, Oh, I am healed because I know the healer. And his word says that by his stripes I'm healed. He went to the cross for this. If the enemy tries to come in with doubt and say that my God isn't a supplier and he won't meet my need, I run back some scripture to him and I say, Oh, there was a woman who was down to her last, and God showed up and asked her to take the little that she had and put it in his hand and have faith in God, and he supplied more than enough because that's what my God does out of riches through Christ Jesus. He's not asking me to have faith in me. Because y'all, that's having faith of a house on the sand. He's not asking me to have faith in my friends, in my husband, in my children, in my finances, in my titles. He's not asking me to have faith in that. He's asking me to have faith in him because the only way I will see what I am believing is have faith in God and God alone 100%. And that starts with getting in the word and looking through the mirror of this perfect picture called the grace of God and seeing what I'm supposed to be seeing, so that I will walk in what I'm supposed to be walking in, so that I can believe him and trust that it will come to pass because I have faith in God.
SPEAKER_00This is for the woman who's been pouring out, for the young lady finding her footing, and for the teenage girl God is raising up for such a time as this. Come as you are, leave strengthened, anchored, and equipped.
SPEAKER_01And lastly, although God wants us to have faith in him and he wants us to pray and ask and believe him for anything and believe that we will see it, he lets us know first, before you even begin to lean in to pray and ask for those things, you better make sure you have forgiven those that you are holding a grudge against. Or your father in heaven is unable to forgive you, meaning he is choosing not that he can't, it's that he's choosing not to forgive your sin because you have stood in a place of not forgiving those who have sinned against you. So if you want your father to forgive you, if you want to be able to pray and ask for a mountain to be removed in your life and you see it because your faith in God is so strong, you've got to forgive. Unforgiveness will pollute your faith in God. Doubt will pollute your faith in God. Do not allow the enemy to use pollutants in your life to cause you not to experience all that God has for you. So if there is someone today that you have not forgiven and that you are holding a grudge against, do it quickly and ask God to help you to forgive them so that He can forgive you. It's almost like a dam that is blocking water. And say there's a small town down there saying, Oh my gosh, we're dying of thirst and we have no water, you know, to clean things or, you know, to cook with or anything like that. And the mayor of the city says, Well, that water's being blocked because I won't move this blockade because I don't feel like forgiving the town on the other side. And it's like, what in the world? So you are gonna allow all this to suffer because you want to live in unforgiveness. I want you to hear me, y'all. It's never worth it. The person that you are holding unforgiveness against, they will never experience whatever you're hoping they experience. They will never come to the realization of, oh, I hurt you so bad. And like more than likely that won't happen, but I know what will happen. Scripture says your sins won't be forgiven. And therefore, you will block the flow of all the things God wants you to see. You'll block that in your life because of unforgiveness. So please, I'm asking you today, forgive and forgive quickly. Let the grudge go. And I will, I will be honest with you. God gave me a list in prayer. I took this to God in prayer. He gave me a list of names that he said, Felicia, you you thought you'd forgiven, but you really need to let this go and let the grudge go. Even in not being able to truly see it, but getting in the mirror of the word, God exposed it to me. And my prayer is that you would get in this mirror, he would expose to you what needs to be exposed so that you can see those that you need to forgive, let go of the grudge, so that the blockade or the damn that's blocking up all that you are believing God for and all that you want to pray about and see come to pass in your life would. So pray first. Ask God to help you forgive those you need to forgive. Lean in to your faith in God and then ask Him in prayer for anything. And if you truly believe it, with no doubt in your heart, you will see it. Thanks for hanging out with me in the Word. I hope it encouraged your heart and gave you something to carry into the rest of the week. If it spoke to you, share this with someone who might need it too. And hey, don't forget to follow or to subscribe so you don't miss out on what's next. Until then, keep showing up, keep listening, and let his word lead the way.
