Hi, and welcome back to This Week in St. Louis. I'm Bryce, and we are officially into that stretch of spring where the city just starts to feel alive again. Patio weather is here, everything's blooming, and it's one of those weekends where you actually have options for how you want to spend your time, which I feel like we've all been waiting for. And this weekend specifically has a really fun mix. It's Mother's Day weekend, so there's definitely that more relaxed brunch and quality time kind of energy. But at the same time, there's still a lot going on. Festivals, live shows, sports, even some chaotic nightlife, if that's your vibe. So whether you're planning something with family, going out with friends, or just trying to get out of the house for a bit, there's a lot to work with. Let's get into it. This week in St. Louis is presented by Hoffman Brothers, trusted by St. Louis families and businesses for over 40 years. Whether it's your AC, water heater, plumbing, or even EV charging, Hoffman Brothers has you covered. Local, licensed, family-owned, book your service at HoffmanBros.com. Big thanks to them for supporting local stories like this one. All right, so if you're trying to spend as much time outside as possible this weekend, there are a couple really solid options to build your plans around. One of the biggest things happening is the Lomiar Sculpture Park Art Fair going on all weekend. This is one of those events that people go to every year and for good reason. You've got over 150 artists set up throughout the park, everything from ceramics and jewelry to paintings and photography. It's one of those where you can just wander for a few hours, grab a drink, listen to some live music, and kind of make a day out of it. And it being at Lomier makes it even better because you're already surrounded by sculptures and open space. So it doesn't feel crowded in the same way some other festivals do. Also leaning into that outdoor spring energy, Mayfest at Grants Farm is happening all this weekend as well. This one's super family friendly. Think German-style spring festival, beer, food, life music, plus everything Grants Farm already has going on. You've got the tram ride, animals, the Clydesdales. It's kind of an easy win if you're trying to plan something that works for a group or a family. And then for something a little more low-key, but still outside, there's a movie night at Westport Plaza on Friday night. They're doing an outdoor showing with space for lawn chairs, snacks, and just hanging out. It's one of those simple plans that actually ends up being a really good night if the weather holds up. Now, if your weekend plants revolve more around food and drinks, which honestly kind of same, there are a couple standout things happening. One of the bigger ones is Grapes in the Garden at the Missouri Botanical Garden on Friday night. This is definitely more of a plan ahead kind of event. You're tasting wines from all over with over 250 options and walking through the garden while doing it. It's a really good mix of being social, but also not chaotic. It is 21 plus, it's a little more elevated and just feels like a very spring in St. Louis type of an event. And then on Sunday, if you're leaning into the Mother's Day side of the weekend, there's Bubbles and Blooms at Ritz Carlton. This is definitely more of a relaxed, polished side, tea sandwiches, pastries, sparkling drinks, and you actually get to make a small floral arrangement while you're there. It's perfect for Mother's Day. It's one of those experiences that feels a little different than your typical brunch. So if you're looking to do something a little bit more memorable, that's a really solid option. And if you're in the mood for something a little bit more like a show or a performance, this weekend is stacked in that category as well. At the Fabulous Fox, Monty Python's spam a lot is running throughout the weekend. If you've never seen it, it's very much that over-the-top, ridiculous humor you'd expect from Monty Python. It's one of those shows that doesn't take itself seriously at all, which makes it a really fun night out. Also happening Friday and Saturday is Pull Theater USA at the Grandle. This is more of a performance competition with a mix of amateur, semi-pro, professional performers. It's definitely something different. And if you've never been to something like this, it's a cool way to switch up your usual weekend plans. And then for something a little more immersive, there's a new pop-up experience called Y2K Baby over at Hidden Gem that just opened this weekend. This one's exactly what it sounds like full early 2000s nostalgia. Think flip phones, metallic everything, themed drinks, throwback food. It's very much of a themed night out situation. It runs beyond this weekend too. So if you don't make it right away, you've got time, but it's definitely one people are going to be talking about. Now shifting into more of a night out energy, there's pretty wide range depending on what you're in the mood for. If you're looking for a concert, Elle Langley is at Shea Fitz Arena on Friday night. And then on Sunday, you've got the Queens at Enterprise Center. Shaka Khan, Patty LaBelle, Gladys Knight, and Stephanie Mills all on one stage. That one's definitely more of a big, iconic performance kind of night. And then on the complete opposite end of the spectrum, there's a Shrek rave at Delmar Hall Friday night. I don't even feel like I need to explain this one. You know, it's gonna be chaotic, it's gonna be themed, it's very much a go out with friends and just have a really, really fun kind of night. And if you're trying to catch a game this weekend, there are a couple really good options. On Friday night, the St. Louis Battlehawks are back at the dome taking on Columbus. Battlehawks games are always a good time, high energy, big crowd. And this one has a bit of a community theme going on as well. And then on Saturday, the St. Louis Slam women's football team is playing out at Rockwood Summit. If you haven't been to the Slam game before, it's actually really fun and an affordable option. It's a smaller setting, super community focused, and still really good competitive football. But now it's time for our flavors of the loo. And even though Cinco de Mayo is past, you can still always find time in your weekend plans for some Mexican food. First up, Nixta in the Del Mar Maker District. If you want something a little more elevated, really creative dishes, and a strong mezcal lineup. Next, Arzola's in Benton Park for that casual margaritas and queso kind of night. Great patio, easy group spot. And lastly, El Milagro Azteca in Southwest Garden if you want something right in the middle, traditional, really well done, and super consistent. That's just some of the spots on our full lineup. Be sure to head to our Instagram at STL Bucketlist for the entire list. We have a new spot for you to check out this week. Bullyard's Meat and Provisions in Maplewood definitely needs to be added to your STL bucket list. It's more than just a butcher shop. You can pick up fresh cuts, grab lunch, or even stop in for their weekend brunch. It's locally owned, consistently good, and one of those places that will keep you coming back. Be sure to head to our Instagram for the full video. All right, that's what we're working with this weekend. Whether you want something outside, something more relaxed for Mother's Day, or just a reason to get out and do something different. There's definitely something here for you. If you end up checking anything out, make sure to tag us at SGL Bucket list so we can see where you're at and what you're getting into. And as always, new episodes drop every week. So I'll be back with more for you soon. Have a good weekend and we'll see you out there.
