Hey everyone, welcome back to This Week in St. Louis. I'm Rice, and if you're looking for something to do around the city this weekend, you are in the right place. This weekend is genuinely one of the biggest of the summer so far. The FIFA World Cup is underway. Juneteenth celebrations are happening all over the city. There's pride, food festivals, live concerts. It's a lot going on in the best possible way. Let's get into it. This week in St. Louis is presented by Hoffman Brothers, trusted by St. Louis families and businesses for over 40 years. Whether it's your AC, water heater, plumbing, or even EV charging, Hoffman Brothers has you covered. Local, licensed, family-owned, book your service at HoffmanBros.com. And a big thanks to them for supporting local stories like this one. We have to start here. The FIFA World Cup is officially here and St. Louis is showing up for it in a big way. Friday night, the USA takes on Paraguay in their first group stage match. And St. Louis City SC is hosting a massive free watch party on the Lou Fuse Plaza at Enterprise Park. We're talking live music, games, prizes, special guests, and the whole plaza opens up Friday evening ahead of kickoff. If you want somewhere to be with great energy for this game, that's the place to be. This weekend also marks Juneteenth, and the city is celebrating across multiple neighborhoods. Saturday in the Delmar Loop, the Juneteenth celebration at 5900 Delmar runs all day with live music, local vendors, food, and community programming. What makes this one special is that it's intentionally bringing together both sides of the historic Del Mar Divide, University City and St. Louis City, in the same space. If you want to start your morning there, the race for reconciliation 5K kicks off along Delmar right before the festival opens and flows right into it. Down in Suard, Neighbors Impacting Communities is hosting their fourth annual Juneteenth celebration at Seulard Market Park, free and open to the public all day Saturday with music, arts, food, and activities for all ages. And out in Ferguson, Forestwood Park is hosting the Ferguson Juneteenth Celebration Saturday afternoon with live entertainment, food trucks, a kid's zone, and community resources. A lot of great ways to show up and celebrate this weekend. While we're talking about Saturday, Pride is in full swing too. Soulard Pride takes over the neighborhood Saturday afternoon with a golf cart parade, drag performances, live music, local vendors, and a whole lot of good energy. The entertainment runs through the evening and it has a great neighborhood block party feel. If you'd rather shop, the Old Bakery Beer Company in Alden is hosting their fifth annual Pride Market Saturday morning, local LGBTQ and Ally Artisans, food and drink specials, and custom merch, a fun, low-key option just across the river. Now, if food is driving your weekend plans, this is a great weekend for it. Friday evening, sauce magazines, Food Truck Friday is back at Tower Grove Park with 20 plus local food trucks, live music, and that classic warm weather outdoor vibe. Come hungry, stay awhile. Saturday afternoon, the St. Louis Taco Festival takes over Ballpark Village, 20 plus restaurants and food trucks, margarita bars, a tequila expo, lucha libre wrestling, live mariachi and kids' fun zone, and so much more. Kids 10 and under, get in free. It runs into the evening and it is a full day if you want it to be. Also Saturday, Bourbon and Bruce is out at Frankie Martin's Garden, one of the Midwest's biggest bourbon and craft beer festivals with over 400 options, live music and food trucks in a beautiful outdoor setting. If you're a bourbon person, do not sleep on this one. Speaking of things not to sleep on, there's a lot happening on the music and entertainment front this weekend, too. Friday evening, the St. Louis Art Museum is hosting Culture and Cocktails Ancient Splendor, a guided tour through their Roman art exhibition paired with Italian-inspired food, wine, and creative cocktails. Think Caprizi Martini, a classic Roman sunset, or a refreshing spritz mocktail, a really fun Friday night out. Saturday afternoon over at the Two Hill Harmony STL presents now playing an a cappella concert featuring three outstanding choruses, including the internationally acclaimed Ambassadors of Harmony. It's a genuinely impressive show and worth checking out if you've never experienced barbershop harmony at this level. Saturday evening in Chesterfield, The Big Thing, The Music of Chicago, plays at the Chesterfield Amphitheater as part of the Free Sounds of Summer concert series. Seasoned musicians, great classic rock catalog, free outdoor show. It's an easy guess. And for the big concert names, Sammy Hager brings his Best of All Worlds tour to Hollywood Casino Amphitheater Saturday night, and Megan Moroni brings her Cloud9 tour to Enterprise Center. Two very different vibes, both great shows. A couple of other things still running this weekend that are worth a mention. Circus Flora continues its 40th anniversary reason under the Big Top and Grand Center, which shows Saturday and Sunday. 40 years of this show in St. Louis. It's a tradition for a reason. And in Forest Park, the St. Louis Shakespeare Festival continues free performances of the Tempest through June 21st. Outdoor Shakespeare under the stars is one of those classic summer experiences that never gets old. Saturday and Sunday, evening this weekend. Now it's time for our Flavors of the Lou, and this week we're talking summer salad bucket list because it is hot out there and you sometimes just want something fresh and really good. First up, Union Loafers and Botanical Heights, known for their incredible bread, but don't sleep on the food. Their salads are seasonal, thoughtful, and genuinely satisfying. A great excuse to pop in if you haven't been lately. Next, Neon Greens and the Grove.
