1 Nephi 15:14 - "And at that day shall the remnant of our seed know that they are of the house of Israel, and that they are the covenant people of the Lord; and then shall they know and come to the knowledge of their forefathers, and also to the knowledge of the gospel of their Redeemer, which was ministered unto their fathers by him; wherefore, they shall come to the knowledge of their Redeemer and the very points of his doctrine, that they may know how to come unto him and be saved."
President Russell M. Nelson - "Anciently, the Lord blessed Father Abraham with a promise to make his posterity a chosen people. References to this covenant occur throughout the scriptures. Included were promises that the Son of God would come through Abraham’s lineage, that certain lands would be inherited, that nations and kindreds of the earth would be blessed through his seed, and more. While some aspects of that covenant have already been fulfilled, the Book of Mormon teaches that this Abrahamic covenant will be fulfilled only in these latter days! It also emphasizes that we are among the covenant people of the Lord. Ours is the privilege to participate personally in the fulfillment of these promises. What an exciting time to live!"

Welcome to Seek this Pizza. A daily podcast dedicated to drawing closer to the Savior through the powerful truths found in the Book of Mormon. Each episode, we focus on one verse that helps us walk more faithfully in his footsteps. As Nephi continues to explain the meaning of the olive tree and the scattering and gathering of Israel, he points us forward to a future day, our day. A day when knowledge would be restored, identity would be remembered, and the Savior would be known again in clarity and power. The verse today is not just about history of prophecy. It is about who we are and what the Lord is doing right now. First Nephi 15 14 says And at that day shall the remnant of our seed know that they are of the house of Israel and that they are the covenant people of the Lord. And then shall they know and come to the knowledge of their forefathers and also to the knowledge of the gospel of their Redeemer which is ministered unto their fathers by him. Wherefore they shall come to the knowledge of the Redeemer and the very points of his doctrine that they may know how to come unto him and be saved. One of the first promises in this verse is striking. They shall know that they are of the house of Israel. Before knowledge of doctrine comes, knowledge of identity. For generations that identity was lost. Israel was scattered, not just geographically, but spiritually. People forgot who they were, where they came from, and what God had promised them. Nephi teaches that in the latter days the Lord would reverse that loss. He would restore identity before restoring understanding. This matters because the gospel is not just information, it is relational. Knowing who we are helps us understand why the Savior matters to us personally. We are not random followers of Christ. We are covenant people. That covenant identity shapes how we see God, how we see ourselves, and how we see the world. When the Lord restores identity, he restores belonging. We are not outsiders hoping to be accepted. We are heirs, being reminded of what was always promised to us. Nephi does not say that this knowledge comes all at once. He outlines a clear progression. Knowledge of being a covenant people. Knowledge of their forefathers. Knowledge of the gospel of the Redeemer. Knowledge of the Redeemer Himself. Knowledge of the points of his doctrine. The Lord does not overwhelm his people with everything at once. He teaches line upon line, restoring truth in layers that build upon one another. First comes remembrance. Then comes context, then comes doctrine, finally discipleship. The restoration follows the same pattern. The Book of Mormon restores covenant identity. It restores lost history. It restores plain and precious truths about Jesus Christ. And it teaches us how to come unto him. Not just that we should. This is why Nephi emphasizes the very points of his doctrine. Salvation is not vague. The path to Christ is noble. The ordinances, the covenants, the commandments, all of them are acts of clarity, not confusion. President Russell M. Nelson ties this verse directly to the Abrahamic covenant.
SPEAKER_00Anciently, the Lord blessed Father Abraham with a promise to make his posterity a chosen people. References to this covenant occur throughout the scriptures. Included were promises that the Son of God would come through Abraham's lineage, that certain lands would be inherited, that nations and kindreds of the earth would be blessed through his seed and more. While some aspects of that covenant have already been fulfilled, the Book of Mormon teaches that this Abrahamic covenant will be fulfilled only in these latter days. It also emphasizes that we are among the covenant people of the Lord. Ours is the privilege to participate personally in the fulfillment of these promises. What an exciting time to live.
SPEAKER_01This statement reframes how we view our time on earth. We are not living after God's great promises. We are living inside their fulfillment. The Book of Mormon is not just a record of the past, it is a manual for covenant participation. It teaches us who we are and invites us to help the Lord gather Israel on both sides of the veil. When Nephi speaks of knowledge being restored, he is describing what we are witnessing now missionary work, temple work, covenant making, and covenant keeping spreading across the earth. This is not accidental, it is intentional, and it includes us. Nephi ends with a purpose statement that they may know how to come unto him and be saved. Knowledge alone is not the goal. Coming into Christ is. Please, don't let this podcast be your only scripture time today. I encourage you to open your scriptures, because when you study God's Word personally, the Spirit will teach you things no podcast ever could. I invite you to come back tomorrow for another verse and message to help you keep focused on Jesus Christ. Until next time, keep seeking this Jesus.
