Recorded on her 39th birthday weekend, Cherie opens up unscripted about her "famous by 40" mantra — and what she's decided that actually means to her. Rather than overthinking the message, she leans into talking it out in real time, reflecting on the growth of the last 20 months: a job loss that initially rocked her but ultimately confirmed she was exactly where she needed to be, and the slow work of stripping away who she was taught to be to rediscover who she actually is.

I turned 39 this weekend in a way that 39 feels like the least scariest birthday I've ever had. I turned 39 this weekend. And here's the thing: I have been saying for a few years that I was going to be famous by 40. And something about that clicked. Something about that was like, okay, girl, now is action. And for the last couple of years, I have had so much growth and so much discernment. And what I would really consider alignment in my life. In a way that 39 feels like the least to scariest birthday I've ever had. I know that I'm an adult and a parent, which is absolutely insane, but I also feel like I'm a little bit doing an all-right job. I'm a little bit proud of the work that I do. Maybe a little bit more than a little bit. And that's what that's something we should all work on together. But I also am finally trying to, I feel like what I'm doing is peeling back all of these layers of all of these things that people taught me or that I was supposed to know for such a long time. And what's really happening as I peel those off, I'm rediscovering the me that I feel like I probably always wanted to be. Do you know what I did for my birthday? I did galactic bowling. We played chess in between turns. I laughed, I ate cake, and it was so easy because I know that the best is yet to come. Now, a couple of years ago, I remember really specifically knowing that my life was getting ready to change. And I couldn't, of course, I didn't really know what it meant. But I was sitting with a friend at the end of a day with people celebrating me, which was delightful. And by the end of the day, I said to him, I think I'm ready for what's next. And he said, Really? And I said, Yeah, not right now, not immediately, but I think that what's next is coming, and I know that that's happening. And that was almost two years ago to the day. Now almost exactly four months later, I was let go of that job involuntarily, Cliff's notes version, it worked out, I got my job back. And it was the thing that rocked me. And so that happened, and just a couple of months after having that birthday, I realized like maybe I'm not doing what it is I feel like I'm supposed to be doing. So then this other thing happens, and I try to figure out now the craziest part about losing my job in the way that I did is that before my tires left the parking lot of the place I was employed, I knew I was gonna be okay. I just had this peace. I said, I called my husband and I said, This thing happened. I have an amazing family, I have two incredible kids, I have a beautiful life with lots of friends and lots of love in it. This is a job. This is a job, and that was a seed, that was a real seed, and so much has happened in just the last year and a half, and I feel like what I've really discovered is that all we are trying to do as human beings is be our most authentic self, and honestly, that's what we should be doing. I know now that it is my goal to live as authentically as possible, and in doing so, can inspire others to do the same. Like tonight, I was standing around a group of adults geeking out over a chess game with no worry about who thought what about me. And I do think that's a thing that comes with age. I do think that is a thing that is going to come with different lessons. And once you're able to learn that the you inside is the one that you have to care about, things start to click in place. I have spent the last 20 months trying to be open to what the universe is telling me. And I know that sounds really hippie. I genuinely believe that. But in the same way that I don't believe that my heart tells itself to beat and my lungs don't tell themselves to breathe, I think there's more to the intuition thing. I think there's more to trusting ourselves, and I don't want to get into it right now, but there is a lot to be said, I think, about teaching people as a rule not to trust their own intuition, their own inner guidance, their own thoughts. And when you are able to take a peek at what that life looks like without doing that, it's like I was in Wonderland in the rabbit hole. I don't know why you wouldn't want to just go all in. I've joked for a while that I'm a modern hippie and I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm just trying to live my life like peace, love, and unity, free love, and all those things. But the truth is, I just want to get to the core of who we are as people. And I don't think that's such a bad thing. I don't think that's such a bad thing. And so as I am turning 39 and I am poor as I record this, 364 days out from being 40, with my mantra famous by 40, famous by 40, I have the privilege of now deciding what that means. Because the thing that I'm learning, and I am no expert, I guess we're talking about manifestation on the podcast. But the thing is that I am the only person in charge of my life. So if I want to be famous by the time I'm 40, for example, I need to do the things that are going to make me famous by the time I'm 40. The thing that I'm learning is that we are only up against our own standards. And at some point, if you realize that you only get I don't know what movie it's from, so I know that I'm stealing this quote from or borrowing this quote from somewhere. I know that I'm borrowing this quote from somewhere. You only get one great, big, beautiful life that we know about. We're not going to get into all of that, but I don't understand why we would ever choose anything that does not lead to more joy. And I know that not everyone agrees with me. I know that. But you know what? They have their corner and I have mine. And I am thrilled to be here going all in on joy in my 39th year. Because the truth is, I do believe I'm gonna be famous by 40. If I look at some of my life, you could argue that I'm famous already. But what do I get to do with that? Is the most important part. Why do I want to be famous by 40? What are the things that I want to be doing? Like, why do you even have a podcast? What are you doing? What I have discovered is that I view the world through a lens that I don't believe is for many years I would say things like, Oh, I'm just oh, I'm just in my bubble, or I'm just a little naive, or maybe it's silly. I spent a lot of time discounting my perspective. And the truth is I just have a different pair of glasses on. I have a different, and it's funny because they say, Oh, you only see things through rose-colored lenses. I get that. But if the sun is in your eyes, aren't you gonna put something on it? Aren't you gonna put on those glasses to protect yourself? Is that not something we do anyway? That feels like a deeper conversation that we're gonna have to get into another day. I was explaining to a friend today, like what I have learned very elementarily, I don't know if that's a word, I'm making it up, at the base level of manifestation of sorts, is that I don't think it matters whether or not it's real. I think it's real. If I'm being honest, I think it's real, and it's a journey, okay? And I'm excited about it, but I don't know what's happening there. But what is so bad about believing that the universe has your back? This is the thing, especially and completely with there being you're not a threat to another human being, do no harm. But for all intents and purposes, we should be doing what brings us the most joy in this life. Those are the things that align with our soul. And the thing about that is they can change, and I think that's really important to know because there have been many almost every time where I have been in the place that I was in and thought, this is exactly where I need to be. I'm so happy. And those are the things that I'm feeling right now, and I think that they're both true. This is getting very deep. But all of that to say, in my 37th, 38th year, I have spent a lot of time stripping away who I think I'm supposed to be and who I believe that I am, and applying the ideals of the person that I want to be. Because at the end of the day, if I, for example, if I want to be a person who does not talk about other people, then I get the choice when things come up to close my mouth. I get the choice to be that person or not be that person. And if you look at every scenario like that, you realize you really are in charge of your own life every single step of the way. And so I think this is my lookout here. I come. Everybody, because here I come. In my 39th year, I feel like I am ready to race. So I've had all of these ideas for a really long time, and I thought about them, and I was like, that would be great, and then I thought about them, and then I tried it in a different way, and that and then I tried it in a different way, and that didn't really work. And I feel like I finally figured out like which race is the right race for me. I finally I'm at the right place, and so I figured out what kind of race I'm running, and I do the research, and then I have to start getting ready for the race. Like, all right, what does this look like? And for me, that was like I know that I want to give, I know that I want to create. I believe that my perspective can be beneficial, and I want to share it. So that's it. Those are some of my thoughts on this birthday and what I've got coming up in the next year. And I think the most exciting part is that I feel like I am more me than I've ever been. And people tell me that me doing that helps them want to do it, and I really love that. So that's just a thing I'm gonna have to keep doing. Thank you so much for listening.
