Welcome to Rima Bible Study. I'm Bishop Williams, and I will be taking you through the study of the Holy Spirit part two. So we have already done part one. If you haven't seen it, then please research and look it up and so that you can flow with us. Now, with the Holy Spirit, as we have explained in part one, that it is God with us. It's a promise that God made that He would send the Holy Spirit to us to enable us to fulfill his divine nature in us. As you are aware, we are born again. And so when we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we are encouraged to be born again. And that is to repent, accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, be baptized, and receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a gift, comes from God, and God promises the Holy Spirit to us. That in the last days, in the book of Joel 2 and verse 28, it tells us that in the last days, said God, I would pour out, he would pour out of his spirit upon all flesh. And that emphasis is all flesh. So that includes you. Um, no matter what race, creed, or color you are, it includes you. And you shall, um, the Bible tells us different things will happen to you when you receive the Holy Ghost. You would prophesy, you would um have the ability to speak in tongues as the Spirit gives you utterance and all these wonderful things. So this was prophesied, and it was then fulfilled in the book of Acts, chapter, chapter 2, man, during the time of Jesus. So just as Jesus left uh the earth, he then sent the Holy Spirit to comfort, reassure us, and to keep us until he comes again the second time. That is what we are waiting for, for his second coming. But while we do that, we must make sure that we are ready to receive him. Now, in what's important is to note that every person that is born to the human race, yes, they must undergo a few things. One is that if you're ever to um to, if you step aside, when you stand before the judgment seat of Christ, every person will be judged. That is the first thing. And the second thing is that everyone will die, that is born to the human race. However, the good thing is that the Bible said that if you are to ever enter or see the kingdom of God, you must be born again. And when you enter the kingdom of God through the new birth that we are talking about, then you become overcomers. You are you are you are overcoming all the other three situations. So in other words, when you're born again, uh death does not hold terror for you. When you're born again, you see, Jesus took your place at the judgment seat uh when he did, uh as he did at Calvary. So you are in a good situation, and that's why the born-again experience is so important. In the book of Mark, in the book of Luke, chapter 11, uh, the Bible tells us in verse 9, it said, ax and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find. Knock and it shall be open to you. For everyone, and I want you to note there, everyone that acts, receive, and everyone that seek they find, and everyone that knock, it is open to them. And then he went on and said something really profound. He said, Which of you, being a father, if your son should come and ask bread of you or fish or an egg, would you give him instead of bread, a stone, instead of a fish, a serpent, or instead of an egg, a scorpion? He said, No, you wouldn't do that. So he said, is the same way. When you ask the Lord for the Holy Spirit, he will not give you anything that is not good for you. And so you can be assured that when you pray, when you ask God, he will give you the Holy Spirit in its genuine form. So we want to be clear about that. Now the Bible tells us a little bit about the being baptized in the Holy Spirit. Now, baptism must be understood in two ways. Now you can put something that is sealed into a water, and the water covers the outside, but the inside is not touched because it is sealed. Or you can put a cup in, say, so a container of water, and the cup is both wet on the outside and it's also on the inside because the water is both around it as well as in it. In the same way is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, when you receive it, it's not only around you. At this moment in time, when you're not yet filled with the Holy Spirit, the spirit and presence of God is around you. And so, because of that, you can experience the presence of God and you can feel his presence. And you may go into a place of worship and experience the presence of God, and that is so beautiful. In the same vein, the Bible wants us to understand that when you're baptized, you not only have the presence of God around you, but you have his presence in you, and that's what makes the difference. That is how comes you can speak in tongues, and the blessings of God will come. Now, God promises us the Holy Spirit. This has been promised in the book of Joel over 500 years before Jesus came. Yes, Joel told us about it. And when Jesus came and he fulfilled his ministry, he told his disciples in Acts chapter 1 and verse 8, and uh he tells them that they must go and tarry in Jerusalem until they be endued, in other words, until they are filled with the Holy Spirit. And so they gathered in the upper room, and during the feast of Pentecost, which is a Jewish feast, the Holy Spirit chose that time to come. And the Bible said that it came like a mighty rushing wind and filled the house where they were sitting. And there the Bible says that they were all filled with the Holy Ghost. Everyone was filled. And so today God is telling us that we too will receive the Holy Spirit, we too will be a witness of what the Holy Spirit does, and the Holy Spirit will immerse us, a man, in his spirit, as if you have been a man in water. And so it is important to know that these are what God promises us. And through the infilling of the Holy Spirit, you receive supernatural power so that you can tell others about him. That is the beauty of the Holy Spirit. It empowers you. And I've seen so many people being delivered, being set free, being healed, and because of the power of the Holy Ghost. I mean, from West Africa to Southern Africa to Eastern Africa to India and all over other places, we have seen the Holy Spirit at work, praise God, and we see what it has done and what it is capable of doing. So everyone that receives the Holy Spirit know that you now have power. So every Christian needs the Holy Spirit and has to be born again. The Bible tells us that. It is to function, is to be created in the image and likeness of God. That is the main work of the Holy Spirit to enable us to function and to be what God called us to be. So here is a holy God, a righteous God, that is now called us to become like Him. He sent His Holy Spirit to perfect us, change our attitude, change our life, change all of the things about us that we don't like, and enable us to continue to live and to walk the way that He wants us to walk. So this Holy Spirit is yours for the taking. Whenever time you are ready, you have a right to receive it. It is a gift. Of course, our gift only requires that you receive it. You reach out and you receive that gift. And once you receive it, then the Bible tells us that you'll see the manifestation of God. In the book of Mark, chapter 16, we see again something incredible because in Mark 16, the Bible tells us about Jesus empowering, instructing his disciples that they should go out into all the world and to preach the gospel. It is called the Great Commission. And here in this, the Bible tells us that Jesus said to them that they should go into all the world and to preach the gospel. That is the good news of salvation, to let everyone know that they don't have to rely or to remain in sin. But Jesus, Christ of Nazareth, has paid the price for their sins. So therefore, they can come to him and know that they would be received. So God does not judge you or look at you by because of your past sins, because that is now under the blood, it is forgotten by the Lord. And he tells us that when this gospel is preached, he that believes, yes, and is baptized, he said, shall be saved. And in verse 16 he says, but he that believeth not, yes, shall be damned. That is what the word of God says. And you got two choices. Either believe and enter into eternal life, or you can disbelieve and then go by way of the rest of the world. That is to condemnation. Okay. Now it also tells us in verse 17 that some incredible phenomena was going to take place. It says, praise God, and these signs shall follow them and shall follow those who believe. Yes? So isn't it fascinating to know? It is not just accepting Jesus Christ, but you can expect evidence of his presence in your life. You can expect evidence of his anointing filling you, because you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you. And then it also tells us that these signs shall follow them, and he said, In my name they will cast out demons. Now, this is what the power of the Holy Ghost does. It tells us that in his name, the name of Jesus will enable you to cast out demons, and not only demons, but sicknesses and diseases and anything that is causing the discomfort of God's children. So it just listed a few. It said that you'll cast out demons, they will you will speak with new tongues, and it went on to say, and they will take up serpent, and if they drink any deadly things, it shall not hurt them, praise Jesus, because why? They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. So these are the things that the Bible says you will now be empowered to do, praise Jesus. And I am happy to tell you that I have been able to do all of these things, and I know those who have also been able to do it. You are entitled to it. It's your privilege, it is your it is it is your gift. And the Bible tells us that God has made this gift provision available to whosoever believes and whosoever wishes to be born again. These are what the Bible tells us would follow. Isn't that wonderful to know that when you give your life to Jesus, you're no more just an ordinary individual, but you are now children of God, sons of God, and are able to move and operate in the things of God as God desire for you to have. So the Holy Spirit is critical. It is vital. And it's not just one set of people that the Holy Spirit has engaged. Now, in the in on the day of Pentecost in Jerusalem, we see how many people were there, how many got saved. I'm talking about being baptized, amen, with the Holy Spirit and with water. So the Bible tells us that they were. Acts 2 and verse 38 tells us about that. And when the disciples heard the word, the Bible said they were convicted. And they said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, men and brethren, what shall we do? And it says, Well, repent, be baptized, every one of you, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Okay? Very important. Now, in the book of Acts, chapter 8, again we see, I mean, a whole city that has heard the gospel preached by John, uh, and we see how many the Bible went went went went ahead and tell us that Philip went down into Samaria and preached the gospel to the village, to the city of Samaria, and miracles, signs, and wonders were done down there, and they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And the Bible said that when those disciples at Jerusalem heard about what was going on in Samaria, they sent unto them Peter and John. And when they had come down, man, they inquired and realized that everyone was baptized, but they had not yet received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. And so Peter and John began to minister to them, and they received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. And guess what? There's a man by the name of Simon the sorcerer. He was so impressed with what he saw that he wanted to have that same ability, okay, to lay hands, to infill people with the Holy Ghost, and all the rest. And he couldn't, rather than receiving it by faith, he tried to buy it. No, that's not good. The gift of God is not for sale. And so you need to be aware. So the Bible tells us that he had a strong rebuke, man, because you had not to do that. So we also see, again, in the book of Acts, chapter 10, we see how Carnelius and his household received a word from the Lord. It meant that they were to go down to Joppa where they would find Peter, and he would tell them. And so the angel went ahead and tell Peter about it. And Peter went to their houses and they were baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost. Isn't that wonderful? 1044 through to 48. Acts chapter 10, 44 to 48, it's there. And we see what happened. And then in Acts chapter 19 and verse 1 to 7, we again see the Bible tells us that Paul, having come through the upper coast, came to Ephesus, and finding certain disciples, notice they were not sinners, they were not people who just backslide. But these were people that were baptized by John the Baptist and trying to serve God. But when he behold their order, he realized that something is missing. And you may find the same thing that happened in your world, in where you go to church or fellowship, that it's wonderful, but something is missing. It needs the spices of the Holy Spirit, it needs the power of the Holy Spirit. It needs the instruction of the Holy Spirit. And that is what was needed. So these men, Paul, look at them and find out something is wrong with their worship, with what they are saying. He said, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said unto John the Baptist. And he explained to them, and they were baptized again properly in the name of the Lord Jesus. Christ. You see, there is a proper way and there is other ways, praise God. But God is interested in you fulfilling his wishes, his commandments the proper way. And that is why today it's important for you to make sure that you gave your life to Jesus the way that you should.
