Hey guys, welcome back to episode 28, where we are going to be diving into uh the second part of representing uh Jesus at work today. Um but before we do and we get into anything, um, I always like to start in prayer. Um, so I'm gonna go ahead and open us up with that. Dear Heavenly Father, I just ask that you open um our hearts and our minds today, that you fill us up with your Holy Spirit. We are just so thankful for today, um, this day to have breath in our lungs and to have the sunrise again. And we're just so thankful that we have you and um that we would much rather have one hard day with you than many good days without you, Jesus. And so I just ask that you fill us up with your Holy Spirit today and um speak to us and teach us something. Amen. Alright, so um, as we were talking about in the last episode, we were really getting into representing Jesus in our workplace by um, you know, the way we say things and what we say. Um, and today we're gonna be kind of getting into more of how we can represent him with our actions um and just what we can actively do to be the light and to bring the Holy Spirit's presence with us. Um so as we get into the word on what God has to say about representing him, we are gonna go through four more points today. Um that goes into that. So the first one we have is extending kindness and support. Um, and so the verse that goes along with that is um 1 Thessalonians 5, 11A. Um so encourage one another and build each other up. And I have it stopped there because it's a longer verse. Um, so you know, God says here that we need to be encouraging each other and and and lifting each other up, and so we are called to have this godly character and to take that extra step to have that loving, encouraging heart. And um so I'll give a a good quick example here when we um I was having a coworker feeling down and they were talking to me about what they were going through and just kind of expressing a loss of hope and sadness and doom um with what they were going through. And um, you know, I uh caught myself shaking my head and you know, just saying like I'm sorry. And the Lord really convicted me in that moment to just stop doing just that, like not just only shake my head and be like, I'm so sorry. Yes, listen is important, yes, being there for them and available for them is important, but to take the step further and was really convicting me to not just end my support there into really shining my light on them and you know lifting them up and encouraging them, um, that they can do it and there is a hope in Jesus. And um so you know, I was like, Okay, and so I just kind of was like, you know what, and I the Holy Spirit really entered me and was just able to help me um just apply, you know, scripture over them, and I was really just speaking to them and saying, you know, even when you're in the valley, valley of the shadows of death, right? Like even when you're going through it, like God is always with you. Um, and so it was really just kind of like you know, letting them know that God is always with them and that he sees your hard work even when you feel like nobody else does. Um I have another example. So I have a coworker who's not in faith, right? Because it can often be harder when we're speaking to a coworker who's not in faith versus who is. And she was talking to me about her frustrations with um picking up slack with other teachers. Um, and so, you know, she was talking about how it feels that, you know, how she just feels like she's expected to complete her tasks and do her things that aren't just her responsibility, but other people's, and she really was like, I just feel like other, you know, I'm expected to, you know, do my job and somebody else's job. And so she was just telling me how she was really feeling hurt and unseen um and unappreciated, and she was just really losing motivation to want to keep having a good heart and to keep having good work ethic. Um, and was just wanting to kind of stop offering help and you know, picking up those tasks for other people because she was just feeling unappreciated, and so she just wanted to be like, never mind. Um, and I'm sure many of us can agree that we've all felt this way at some point in our job. Um and so God had laid it on my heart to minister to her, and I was really nervous because she has rejected my Christian advice before. However, I kind of still chose to be the light and to encourage and to lift her up. Um, and so that day I referenced uh Galatians 6.9, which is do not become weary in doing good, for at the right time you will reap a harvest if we do not give up. And um I was also I also referenced Hebrews 6.10, which is God is not unjust, he will not forget the work and the love that you have shown as you've helped his people and continue to help them. So obviously I didn't recite these verses like word for word and say, like, oh, Hebrews 6.10 says this, but I was speaking these words into her, and I was speaking the word into her, and I was just telling her, you know, I I I was saying, you know, don't give up and you know, don't get tired of doing the right thing because you're doing the right thing, you're being helpful, you're showing support, you're taking the extra mile, even when nobody else sees your hard work. And I just I let her know that hey, I see your hard work, I see you, I appreciate you, I am here for you. And not only am I here for you and I see it, but you know God sees you and God sees your hard work and he sees your heart, and you know, he's also there seeing everything that you're doing, and he um, you know, he sees your fruit and and and the things that you're doing. And so she was really grateful for the encouragement and was just able to be able to kind of come out of her rut a little bit, um, and just be like, you know what, thank you so much. You know, like you're a great friend, I really appreciate you. Um, you know, because of the living word that I spoke to her. Um now I truly believe that that was a seed planted, that one day she will come to salvation. But you know, that was a seed planted that I was able to be that light for her today, and because of the power of the word, she was able to to see that light and to be able to be like, you know what, yeah, you're right. Um, which leads me into my second point here is looking for the people that need prayer and salvation. Um, so I use the scripture, Matthew 28, verses 19 and 20A. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands that I have taught you. So, unless you work at a church, most likely there are going to be people at your job that don't know Jesus. Even if you honestly do work at a church, there's still gonna be people that could use prayer. You know, maybe there's coworkers who have families and friends that still need salvation. Um, so think about the people that you're surrounded with. Um, figure out who in your life need seeds planted. And I don't, you know, it could be a coworker, maybe a boss, could be a work friend, right? Um, there's there's there's always somebody, there's always multiple people, honestly. So even if you're not sure where to go or who to approach, you can always ask God to lay it on your heart. Um, He definitely will 100% do that. Um, and you know, I've heard so many people like, oh, like I don't like people like that. Like I'm an introvert, you know, like genuinely if you have the heart of God, like you have to let the heart of God do it. Like, there is nothing that you know we do all by ourselves, right? It's all by the power of God and and it's all by his heart that lives in us and his spirit that lives in us. And so we really have to allow um and welcome his holy spirit to say, you know what, Lord, like lead me and guide me, show me who you know who needs um the salvation and the prayer and the help. Um, so I had asked God one day uh to do this in my in my co-workers. I really felt like I kind of I don't know. I I was just with one day, I I had brought um one coworker to salvation, and there was another one that I was really actively working on. So I felt like I wanted to seek somebody new to bring to salvation. Like I felt like, you know, okay, like you know, I was working on the next person. And so I kind of had wrote off a few people and the Lord really like laid it on my heart to keep going that they are slow burners, that they will get there. And so in the meantime, I was like, hey Lord, like I asked him to kind of show me new people uh to reach out to. And so he had laid it on my heart to reach out to our tech support lady. This is somebody who at the time I, you know, was like a colleague, right? Just a coworker. You know, we got along well, she was cool, but I didn't really like wasn't like super close with her. So I had reached out to her, um, and I just straight up was honest and let her know that, hey, like the Lord laid it on my heart to to reach out to you, like I, you know, how are you doing? And just kind of really like, you know, checking in on her, asking how she was doing and stuff like that. She like immediately revealed to me that she had recently decided to go back to church and that she was brought to salvation and she was really early in her journey, and so she was just super excited to see God work through me and to see that He was thinking about her and to laid it on my heart to reach out to her, and so I was able to reach out to her. Um, and ever since we've become friends, and I was able to um I've been able to like invite her and to kind of, you know, I don't want to say minister, minister to her, because it's not like I've been like speaking like messages to her, but like I've been able to speak the word to her and kind of talk to her and encourage her and just be the light in her life at work. Um, and it's only because of God laying it on my heart and me asking him, Hey, who who needs your word? You know, where where can I reach out to? Who can I reach out to? Um, you know, maybe this person is having a bad day and you just are offering to speak word over them or you know, to pray with them, or just to listen to them, right? Maybe you need to, you know, invite them to church, right? Um things like that. You can honestly host a gathering like with your other friends that are in faith, uh, just as support, you could do a reach out and then just invite people from work that you want to bring to Jesus, you know, and and bring them to this gathering. Maybe, you know, you guys go to the beach together in the summertime, you know, I know summer's coming up. Um, I just recently did like a brunch party at my house, so like that's just an idea. Um, but you can always you there's always right, you can always do ideas. I always say Pinterest. Pinterest has the best ideas. Um, but yeah, and it's just a really great way to bring people in and to pray for people and to bring them to salvation. And when you don't know where to go and you don't know where to start or you're scared and nervous because you are introverted, you know, like just to ask the Lord to help you with that and say, you know, like Lord, like fill me up with your godly love and and and show me where the people are and bring me the people that need that you know that need your word and need your love. And he he will, you know, he a hundred percent will. And um, most of the time I would say he definitely won't answer faster than you think he will. Um, you know, you could always invite them to a Bible study. Maybe you either attend or you know, um host or whatever, you know, hey, hey, you know, like I own Bible study on Wednesday nights, you know, like do you we we should go together and hang out, like we can ride together, you know, like we can get food on the way, right?

SPEAKER_00

Like I always say food's a great way to bribe people to come to church or come to Bible study. I do this a lot more like, hey, like do you want to go to church and then you know afterwards going lunch or whatever? It's always a great way to, you know, yeah, invite people.

SPEAKER_01

Um, which and then my next point is working with integrity. And so um the verse I have for this is, you know, Colossians 3, verse 23. Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Um it also says in Psalms 101, verse 2, I will be careful to live a blameless life. When will you come to me? I will lead a life of integrity in my own home. And so we're gonna dive into this. Integrity means having moral excellence. Um, you know, and in the word you you have godly morals. So you having moral excellence, you you have good morals, you have good godly morals to do the right thing, and even when nobody is watching. You know, sure we do the right thing and we're a good employee when the boss is around and you know, we come in on time, we do our job to the fullest. But how do we act when their boss isn't around? You know, maybe there's things that we do, you know, we just have less effort. Maybe we're a little bit more lazy, maybe we don't care to be five minutes late to work, or you know, things like that. I definitely can say I'm being convicted right now because I'm always late to work. Um, I really need to work on that. Um, but yeah, you know, so there's things like that, you know, that we act, you know, a little differently. And so sure we can definitely say that we've all been guilty at this at a time in our lives. And so God really says to us in these scriptures that we should be approaching anything that we do in our life like we are working for the Lord. Um if Jesus was our boss, how would we act? How would we go about our job, right? Like, okay, so replace your like imagine that your boss would be Jesus at work at whatever job you have, right? Would you only have good attendance when he's around? Would you have good attendance all the time? You know, like think about these things, like, you know, doing your best um at your job and you know, uh uh putting in 110% effort and taking the extra mile and bending over backwards to be helpful and to encourage and to be on time and to do everything by the book, right? And so that's what the Lord says here, you know, he's saying, work as if you're working for me, not the people, not the people of the world, but work as if you're working for me, you know, because there's a bigger picture here and and work for me. And so he says, you know, if we wouldn't do it for G he's saying, if we're not gonna do it for Jesus if he was our boss, then we really shouldn't be doing it all, right? Um, and so we need to shine our light at work and set an example of an employee with integrity and having moral excellence and you know, doing the right thing even when nobody is watching. Um, you know, when everybody has left for the end of the day, like um, you know, do you file all your paperwork at the very end of the day? Sure, when everybody's there watching you, but do you file all that paperwork at the end of the day when you're the last employee there and everybody's left? Everybody left early and you're not you're trying to stay and get your time and your hours in, you know, you're like the one of the last ones there. Do you? Or do you just like put it in a pile and be like, eh, I'm just gonna do that tomorrow? Like, I'm just gonna skate out too, you know, um, things like that, right? You know, we should be really giving it our our awe and our 110% effort. And when we have those days where we're not feeling our best, like we all do have those days, but asking the Lord um, you know, to carry us through through those days and to give us the the energy and the love so that we can get through those days, so that we can continue to have integrity and continue to have that godly love and continue to have those moral excellence um and have those good godly morals. Um, because we by doing that, we shine our light onto others, we shine our light onto unbelievers, onto other believers, um, you know, onto everybody else at work and they're able to see, wow, you know, like Amber, she really shows up on time, make she really does her best. Like, I'm really encouraged to have better work ethic like her. Or I wonder how she does it. You know, I've I've even gotten people to be like, you know, that's because she has the Lord in her heart, like I, you know, that's a hundred percent why she's able to do the things that she's able to do. And I'm a hundred percent like when somebody said that to me, I'm like, absolutely, you're absolutely right. It is only because of God that I am able to do these things. And hey, you know, you would be able to do all these things too if you have the Lord in your heart, and and you know, so it kind of makes them want that light that you have. Um, and so it's just a great way to work for the Lord and to do his will and to do his work. So often I hear people say, like, I don't know my purpose with the Lord. Like, I can say this right here is doing the Lord's work and doing purpose, you know, doing the purpose for God is just being the light and shining the light and having that godly character and and having that integrity in your heart at your job, you know, and encouraging other people just by setting a good example and having that more excellence, even when nobody's watching. People see that, and even that right then and right there is um, you know, doing the will of God. Um, and then my last point I have for today is worshiping the Lord. Um, and so our scripture for this is 1 Corinthians 10 um verse 31 says this so whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Um and again, going back into Psalms 101, because Psalms 101 is a great uh scripture to go to. Um, verse 1 says, I will sing all of your love and justice, Lord. I will praise you with songs. Um, so back in episode 18, I I go over the entire Psalms 101, and I definitely recommend that you go read that word, um, listening to that episode when you have time. Um, even, you know, it's Dav David uh writes that psalm and he really declares to the Lord on how he is, our how he will and will not act. It's a declaration um to the Lord, and it's just a really great um it's a really great template and it's a really great word to get into and to be encouraged by to um to have that declaration to the Lord and say, Hey, like I'm gonna have, you know, like you know, in verse one, I will sing all of your love and I will, you know, he says, I will sing your love and I will praise you. Um, but yeah, so worshiping is not just singing, it's not just honoring um with songs, but it's it's showing honor, it's showing admiration, it's celebrating our God and who he is. And so we can worship God by obeying his word, we can worship God by being the light, we can worship by uh God by um carrying godly character in our in our work um for us and by having the fruit of the spirit and by representing Jesus well, um, you know, by having patience for God, uh not for God, how do I how do I put this, Lord? Tell me. Um, you know, by shining your godly light and by having the Holy Spirit in you, and by having patience because of Jesus, and by having joy because of Jesus in your heart, and by having kindness at work because of Jesus in your heart, by having gentleness because of Jesus in your heart, by having self-control because of Jesus in your heart, by having peace because of Jesus in your heart, by having love because of Jesus in your heart, by having goodness because of Jesus in your heart. That is also worship. And so we can worship him by singing him songs. Absolutely. Yes, we can worship him. We go on our lunch break. Yes, we sing him songs, we will praise him. Yes, even when we're having a bad day and we're not feeling good, you know, maybe you're running late to work, you you you spilled your coffee, you didn't have time to do your morning devotion, everything's just running behind. You know, you can still turn some worship music on and sing to him on your way to work, and you can still have that time of praise, you know. Um, worshiping God, you can worship God by planting seeds, by speaking the word over people, by bringing people to Jesus, by praying for people, right? All of these things, you know, think about your purpose is serving him. And so, you know, you are you are out there doing his work, you know, whether you're teaching children, whether you're nurse giving patients, care, you know, whatever it is, you're not doing it for the money, you're doing it for the Lord, you know, as he says back up in um, you know, 1 Corinthians 10 31 and and as he says in Colossians 3 23, he says, you know, whatever you do, do it for me. And so by doing it for him, you're worshiping him, you know, you're honoring him, you're um, you're admire, you know, you're giving him the admiration, you're celebrating who he is and who his power, you know, and his power. Um, and so we can worship God by doing so many things, you know. I see on on social media so much these days because I'm a new mommy, and um, so I have like a lot of Instagram reels and TikToks who, you know, um it just talks about like worshiping the Lord in the mess. And I love to see that because you know, you can still worship the Lord as being a mom of, you know, being a mom of your kids and being a wife, you know, doing the dishes is still worship and doing the laundry is still worship and cooking dinner is still worship. Why do you ask? You know, how is doing chores around the house worshiping the Lord? Because if you you you tie it in to Proverbs 31 and and this woman and how she's preparing for her household and she's watching over and she just suffers nothing from laziness, but you have to do it in the heart of God. If you were doing it in the heart of God and you were doing dishes because you have the heart of a Proverbs 31 woman, then you are worshiping the Lord because you are honoring Him, you were celebrating Him being in your heart, right? You you you sing worship music as you clean, you're cleaning your home for your family, you're doing it in the heart of God, you're doing it because the love of God that you have in your heart, you're you know, has becoming that, you know, example again. That Proverbs 31 woman, yes, you were doing it in the heart of God, you are honoring him, you were celebrating him, you were singing him praise as you are cleaning your walls, right? That is giving him praise, that is worshiping him. There, you there are so many different ways to worship, other than you know, the basic answer of singing him praise. Yes. I will also say you can worship by singing. You know, the Lord says that worship is singing and dancing and you know, having instruments, um, and not just singing, but you know, lifting your hands up and shouting, you know, and and all the things. And so there's just so many different ways that we can worship the Lord. Um, we can be worshiping the Lord throughout our entire day. Um, and so I just really encourage you to think about that and think about the things that you do throughout your life. And and ask yourself, you know, am I doing it because I have to, or am I doing it out of the you know, to worship the Lord? Um Yeah, so I'm gonna wrap up my um my message here today. So recapping all of our points here, we had four points um on really focusing on the things that we can do to represent Jesus in our workplace and at work, um, right, by by the things that we're doing and acting. Um, and so the first one was extending kindness um and support, and our scripture that went along with that was uh what was it? First, um wait, hold on. I didn't go back up in my notes, I forgot. Um, 1 Thessalonians 5, 11a. So encourage one another and build each other up. Um, and then my second point was looking for the people that need prayer and salvation. Um, Matthew 28, 19, uh, and 20A. Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, teaching these uh disciples to obey all the commands like I taught you. Um our third point was work with integrity, and then our fourth point was worshiping the Lord. Um so yeah, I I really um I'm gonna wrap that up now. I'm gonna close us out with some prayer. Um and then yeah, that will be done. Um Dear Heavenly Father, I just lift up every single listener to you today. I just pray um over protection over them wherever they are. I just lift them up to you, and I I declare protection over them that um as they have a heart of integrity and as they do what is right, that they will wait for you and that they will seek your uh protection, they will seek your peace. And then so I just pray that over all everybody who is listening, that they will get where they gotta go safely if they're in the car, whether they're at work or home or wherever they are, Father. I just pray safety over them. Um, and I just rebuke any demonic attack, any evil forces that are in their life, that it does not have the authority in their lives, but you, Jesus, you have the authority in their lives, and so I pray that over their lives today that they will conquer, that they can conquer anything that they are going through, whatever season they are in, that they can conquer it because they have you, Jesus. Amen. All right, I got carried away with the prayer that was the Lord in me. Um, before I go, I would always like to just mention um I have a link tree that is in my show notes, it has the link to my Bible study. My sister does a morning devotion every morning, so you can always hop on that Zoom as well. It's just a great way to build your devotion life with the Lord. Um, and um, I also have the link for prayer requests. I absolutely um love, truly do. I really just love to hear what your prayer requests are and to connect with you and to pray with you. And so um always drop that in the form and um we can get connected and and pray with you. Thank you so much for listening, and I will see you guys next time.
