Welcome to the Bob Account Podcast, and I'm Miguel Amber. I'm just a Proverbs-31 woman, empowering women to step into their on-the-fire for the Lord mentality. I encourage us to live out our faith, to grow, and to believe in the calling that God has for us.
SPEAKER_01My vision is to help women break the chains of their past of inner struggles and fears to create new chapters that only our father can write for us. I'm on a mission and passion to empower you and all the women out there.
SPEAKER_00This is going to be your new favorite podcast for daily devotionals and Bible study chats.
SPEAKER_01Hey y'all. I don't know why I said y'all. I sounded super southern there. I'm not even really southern. Anyway, hey guys. Okay. It's getting late and I'm getting tired. Can you tell? It's episode 38. Welcome back, all my previous listeners. If you're new, hi. I'm Amber and I want to jump on in and get started. Today we have a beautiful message that the Lord really let on my heart and really spoke through me when typing up these notes. Um, so before we get started, I'm gonna lead us off in prayer. Dear Father, I just ask that you open our hearts, you open our minds, fill us up with your Holy Spirit, every single listener that's listening, Father, that you just open their heart and their mind, that they receive your word, and that they hear your voice, and that they have um something to take away from today. I just pray over this message. I pray that you speak through me. Um, and just I just pray that the Holy Spirit will help me deliver this message in the way that it's meant to be heard. Amen. Alright, so I'm gonna start in scripture. I'm gonna be real honest with you. Um, I knew that I wanted to talk about submission for a little while, and I didn't really know. I was having like writer's block, and I know I wanted to talk about it, I knew it was in my heart, but I I had no idea how to write the message. I'm gonna be honest, and I just let it go. I kept coming back to it this week, and I was like, you know, eh, I still feel like like writer's block is weird, and then like literally today, earlier today, I was like, I'm gonna write the message, and the Lord laid it on my heart, and all I'm gonna say is his thoughts were flowing so fast through my little brain that I couldn't keep up. So I'm gonna start us off in scripture, and I'm not gonna lie, this is totally not the scripture that personally I would have used, but obviously the Lord is so much better than my own brain. So he said, let me tell you what he's on. He said, Proverbs chapter 3, verses 5 and 6, which is the most, probably one of the most popular verses ever. Um, but we're gonna really dissect that. The Lord really wants me to unpack that, and he really helps us see it on such a deeper level. I don't know if you've ever heard me say this before, but the Lord loves to reveal to me like deeper dimensions of his word, and I absolutely want when he does that. So let me stop talking. Proverbs chapter 3, 8, 5, and 6. He says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not depend on your own understanding, seek his will in all you do, and he will show you the path in which to take. Um, a lot of people say, lead, you know, um, some people say, trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not depend on your own understanding. I think I just wrote the same thing. I'm trying to think. I've heard it in other translations, and I just can't think of off the top of my head like what what they say, but it's something similar. So let's unpack it. The Lord has so much for us in these two short verses. He starts by telling us to trust him, and we all know that we should trust the Lord, but let's go back up and let's reread it. He says, with all of your heart. So he says, Trust me, not a little bit, not half a bit, not mostly, with everything you've got, yeah. Even when you don't know what happens next, trust me with all you have. Think of it like this. You trust him with the small things like getting to work safely or protecting you when you sleep. Yes, good job. That's something we should definitely be trusting him for. But he says with all your heart. So he's also saying, trust him with the big things. Trust him with that bad medical report that you received. Trust him when you find out your mom has stage four cancer. Trust him when you're in labor in crazy pain and you have no idea how you're gonna survive through the next hour. Trust him when your life depends on it, trust him when you're awake during an open surgery and you think you're gonna die. Trust him with your life. I say that because that was me. I almost died giving birth. Um, my birth story was not at all anything remotely of a super happy, fun, light Christian birth story. I wanted it to be that way. I did not medicate myself. I wanted to have a natural birth. I'm getting off subject, so I have a lot to talk about. And long story short, I ended up having to get a C-section like 26 hours later, I believe. And um, I could f I it didn't hurt, but I could feel them like cutting me open. And I started puking all over myself, and I started like choking on it, and I couldn't breathe. And it was the scariest thing ever, and I thought I was gonna die right there on there on the table. And I just remember like being like submitting to the Lord in like the weirdest way ever. I just remember being like, Lord, I didn't think I'm supposed to die right now, but if I'm supposed to die, then I trust you. And if I'm not supposed to die, then I trust you. I'm terrified. Absolutely terrified. But I trust you with my life, and it was the most life-changing experience ever for that reason. Um but yeah, trust the Lord. That's what he's saying here. Trust him like your life depends on it. Trust him to heal your daughter with her sickness. Trust him to support you financially when you have no idea how you're paying your mortgage next week. Trust him when you're a working mom and you have 17 things to do in a twelve-hour day of daylight and you're scared you're not gonna get it all done. Trust him when you're outreaching and you don't know what to say, and trust him that he will give you the words to say. Trust the Lord without doubt, but with confidence. And if you ever have a moment where you trust the Lord, but you don't fully trust the Lord, and you have some unbelief and you have some doubt, I want to encourage you to be very honest and tell the Lord that because that's something I recently started doing where I would catch myself sometimes like trusting the Lord, but I'm human, and there are times that I like trust him, but not fully, right? There's that small part of me that doubts, and I started coming to him and I started being real honest and being like, Lord, I trust you with this, but for some reason I don't know why, and I don't want to, but there's this part of me that's holding back, there's this part of me that's unbelieving, and I started to ask him to meet me where I was. I started to ask him to meet me in my unbelief and to take away that unbelief, and he really has been helping me with that, and you know, when I'm having those moments, so I definitely encourage you to wit when you're having those moments where you've got that piece of doubt to ask him to get rid of that because he continues to go on and he tells us to not rely on our own understanding. We as human have so many emotions, so many feelings, especially as women. We feel doubt, fear, uncertainty, anxiety, right? All the things. And our emotions give us the wrong perception of God's truth, especially when we're in our fields and having a mental breakdown or angry or upset or whatever. And this is why he tells us to trust him and to rely on him, not our own understanding, not with our human will, but his will. Because we will lead ourselves in the grave if we relied on our own understanding. Think about the people who aren't in faith. That's exactly what they do. They believe they they trust their own understanding, and it doesn't get them anywhere. Does not get them to eternity. And so the Lord says, Don't rely on your own understanding, rely on me and my will. Because regardless of our circumstances, regardless of our feelings, our emotions, God is there. God is stable, God is constant. He will pull you through, he will carry you through the small things like getting to work safely, but he will also carry you through when your grandmother is dying. He will also carry you through when you're on the operating table. I can be the one to attest to those last two things. Well three, obviously, he's got me to work safely. But I'm saying, I I can say, my own personal testimony, that the Lord has done that for me. And he continues, he doesn't just stop there, but he continues in six, verse six, and he says, To seek him with all that we do. Seek his will in all that you do, and he will show you the path. Some people argue that as long as you're loving others and you're loving God, and you're bringing people to Jesus that he doesn't care how you get there. I think that we can definitely relate to being a point in our faith at this point, at one time or another, where we struggled having full submission, because there's either there's only there's one of two reasons why we're gonna have this roadblock where we're not in full submission. And it's either one, we're afraid to give up control over our lives, or two, we're afraid to feel like we're needy and burdening the Lord with asking his will over everything that we're doing. And every single one of us was either one or two, or we are one or two, whether you've gotten past that point, or whether you're at that point. I'm gonna be honest, because that's just who I am, and I'm raw on this podcast. I I was one. That was me. I was afraid to give up control. Dude, I'm in full submission some days, but there are other days that I catch myself still trying to have control, and then I'm clocked in the head, and I'm like re reminded that I'm not in the driver's seat. I don't have control. When we're at this moment of crossroads, I really wanna explain the big scary word of the word submission in a different light. Cause the Lord really helped me understand this word so much differently recently. I was talking to my dad. He's not gonna spill his business out in here because I don't know he probably wouldn't like that, but he's going through a tough time. Real tough time. Long story short, all I'm comfortable with saying on here is my grandmother died, and that was his mom. And um some things he's been taking care of and dealing with and just a lot. And uh I asked him about uh, you know, what the Lord's will was. And so we had this big old conversation. And uh then I I knew that I wanted to to touch on this message, and then as I started to write this message, the Lord really helped me see it even deeper. Because let's let's look at this verse again. I want to talk about and and read how God views submission. He uses the word trust. Seek show. Think of it like an addition equation when we seek the Lord and we trust in the Lord. We have those two things together, we seek the Lord and we trust in the Lord, then he shows us the way. And see, some submission think it's like being chained. Like you don't have free will to do what you want. But really, submission in God is the exact opposite of that. So let me just say straight up, that's the devil making you think that being submitted in the Lord is not free. Of course he wants you to believe that, because of course he wants you to not be submitted in Christ. Duh anything he can to keep you from being like, you know, thickest thieves with the Lord, okay? Because freedom is it's really freedom. Because when we trust the Lord and we seek the Lord, we enter this space and we enter this spirit of full submission, and we no longer have to carry the weight of the hard decisions, we no longer have to carry and handle the hard situations, we no longer have to deal with the hard situations alone and the relationships alone, but we are free from this weight. It's no longer on us, it's on him. You know, in Matthew chapter 6, 33, it's one of my favorite scriptures, the Lord says this, but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all of these things will be provided to you. Seek me first, and I will provide everything for you. Submission. Seek me. Seek my righteousness, and I will provide for you. How great of a God do we have? I'm gonna cry. I'm not gonna cry. That he says, all you have to do is submit and seek me. And I will take care of you, I will provide for you. In Matthew 11, verse 30, he says, For my yoke is easy, my burden is light. He tells us that by us giving him our weight, by us giving up control of feeling like we have to control the weight on our shoulders. He says, It's easy, it's light. I will do it for you. He tells us over and over again in scripture, so many other places, these are just a few that when we seek the Lord, when we trust the Lord, when we submit to him, he provides for us. He takes the burden for us, he takes the weight for us, he shows us how to answer every single situation, he shows us where to move next, he shows us where not to move. Being submitted in Christ gives you freedom to move without the weight. Can you imagine what life would be like if you had if you're not submitted to the Lord? All that weight on your shoulders. Maybe you're in college, getting good grades, juggling mom life, juggling work, juggling school, juggling being a good wife, juggling being a good mom, juggling having enough time, juggling, losing weight, juggling looking pretty, juggling taking care of family, juggling, hanging out with your friends, juggling being social, juggling trying to go to church, juggling, trying to have a relationship with the Lord. I know I'm probably overwhelming you. Think about all that weight. I'm thinking about it right now. How heavy that can feel. Jesus says. Trust me. And I will provide. How great is our God. Because being submitted in Christ gives us freedom to have security in knowing that He will always provide, to have confidence that He will always be with us through it all. I think I talked about Isaiah 43 last um episode where my other favor one of my other favorite verses is, you know, when you walk through the the waters, you will not be drowned. When you walk through the fire, you won't be scorned, because I am with you. If you think that being submitted and asking God what his will is for you and details of your life is excessive, and that the Lord doesn't want to have to guide your every step because you think that you know you're being a baby about it. I want you to read these verses. Let's look at these next. Matthew chapter 28, verse 20b. And remember, I am with you to the end of the age. He says, I'm with you always. Remember, I'm with you. When? Today? Yes. Tomorrow? Yes. Yesterday? Yes. Always. In Psalms 37, verse 23. This one gets me. This one got me, y'all. The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. I'm gonna reread that again because it was this verse is so good, honey. Caught my little fingers if you can't see. The Lord directs the steps of the godly, he directs the steps of those who are in faith, he directs the steps of his children of God. That's what he does. It's his job. He wants to do it. He says he delights. He says, I want to be with you at all times. I want to guide you in every major and every minor detail. And he says in every detail of your life. He says, delights. Do you know what delights mean? I asked my coworkers today. Means to take pleasure. Means to have joy. He takes pleasure in guiding our every detail. He has great joy in guiding our every detail. So if the devil ever tells you that fully submitted is burdening the Lord that he doesn't want to have to guide your every little step that as long as you're doing the overall thing, then that's it. That is the biggest dang lie I've ever heard. Maybe not the biggest, there's bigger, but still, pretty big one. Okay? He says, I delight in every detail of your life. Psalms 3723. Write it down. Put it on a post-it note. Go on the Bible app, take a screenshot, put it on your fridge, put it on your mirror. Remind yourself of that. Every day you want to back out of being submitted to Christ. I understand that taking this step to have full submission to the Lord can feel scary. It's a big step. And I used to tell people all the time that it's worth it. And it is. But even deeper than that, it's the golden ticket from Willy Wonka. Okay? It's better than Willy Wonka's golden ticket. Because allowing him to take the driver's seat in your life means that he gives us the way that we will go. And he's God. So we can only imagine. You know, we can only imagine. Not singing that song, have nine s I can't sing. What he can do for us is far so much better than what we could do for ourselves. I'm gonna wrap it up. I've been talking for like twenty something minutes. I try not to talk y'all's ear off. And I'm just gonna say this. I'm gonna wrap it up with this. I'm gonna give my own little mini testimony of how me submitting to Christ and his will for my life has been better than mine. I'm be real honest. I came back to the Lord, I don't know. Some years ago. Four maybe. I grew up in church and then I strayed away and I had some real nasty stuff happen to me. Real nasty. You name it, it happened. And um real nasty. Girl, I was abused, beat, raped, miscarried. My dad and mom broke up, they divorced. You name it, I had I had it. Girl, I had it all. And I strayed away from the Lord and I came back to the Lord. And I had every reason to not be submitted in Christ. I had every reason not to trust him. And my will for my life was I wanted to live in New York City. I wanted to be in Manhattan, and I wanted a big girl job. I either wanted to work in um what do you call it? Drawing a blank. I really wanted to do um I want to say forensic science, but like that's not at all what I'm trying to say. Oh my gosh, what is it called? Being a profiler. I really wanted to be like an investigator. Um in New York City. Or I wanted to be a writer for magazines. That's what I wanted to do. I never wanted to get married, I never wanted to have kids, I wanted to be independent, successful on my own in New York with my Louis Buton high heels and my blazer tracksuit. And I wanted to be have a big girl job. That's what I wanted. That was my will for my life. Um those of you who don't know me, that is so far from my life. I came back to Christ. I got married. I have a baby girl. And the Lord laid it on my heart to maybe have more. That's even more wild, guys. I didn't want kids at all. I have one, and now the Lord's like, maybe you want more. And I came back to the Lord. I got invested in my church. Here I am leading a podcast and a Bible study. Speaking the word of God. And my whole pregnancy, I was terrified to have kids. I had two miscarriages, and I never thought I wanted to have kids again. And I didn't think I could have kids again. And I submitted my whole life to the Lord, and I became pregnant, and the doctor gave me every reason under the sun that I was gonna have complications. That was a lie. Baby was completely healthy, I was completely healthy. The Lord delivered far much better his will than mine. My labor and delivery, I know I mentioned earlier, I had a rough labor, guys. Maybe rough, let me tell you. But because I was fully submitted in the Lord in during that moment, even in the pain, I I I knew the Lord was with me. And during that submission, I healed for my C-section in five whole days. Five days. And I was on magnesium, which apparently like makes you super weak and like tired, and I guess I had really high blood pressure and crazy, like crazy, like lethal blood blood pressure. And so, um, what do you call that? Preclampsia, they ended up diagnosing me with in the hospital. Anyway, so yeah, and I was completely healed, like not sore down to a little tiny bit of spotting within five days. Only God could have done that. Only God had that kind of will over my life that he turned a crazy birth experience into something so beautiful, something so much more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. My job. I worked in daycare for many years, and then I wanted out, it's a very toxic environment, and I wanted to work with kids. I wanted to be a teacher in a school district since I was a little girl. I used to teach for myself animals, and I prayed about it and prayed about it and prayed about it. And one day I submitted and was like, Lord, it it's your timing. Like, whatever your will is for my life, if your will is for me to never teach, like so be it. Look at me now. I'm a teacher, friends, third school year working with uh behavioral students. Only the Lord and his will. Okay, my mom and brother-in-law, this is my most recent testimony, and then I'm gonna be done. Promise. My mom and brother-in-law, they moved in back in June. If you have been a uh recurring listener, you might have heard of this before, and that was you. Really hard for me. Really, really hard for me. My faith had a little crack and I had to fix it, and I had to get right with it. I had some serious anger and bitterness I was dealing with. Um, but I submitted and I was like, you know what, Lord, I don't want my mom in my house. I don't want my brother-in-law in my house. That that's that's that's disrupted and right. And if I thought if I would have thought about what my will was, I didn't want that. Nobody wants that. You got a brand new family, brand new husband, brand new little baby girl. But I said, you know what, Lord, let your will be done. Let your will be done. I will be a giver. I will love, I will provide, I will help you do all that for me. Let me do that for them. And so I let my mom and my brother-in-law move in. And because of my submission, he has given me so much fruit. I have grown in my relationship with my mom. My mom found a new church. My brother-in-law has been coming to church. Um, I got a new car over the summer, I got a camper over the summer, like literally just so much fruit, like like not even related necessarily, but like all this fruit. All because of my submission to say, let the Lord's will be done. And let me tell you, all of the Lord's will so far that I've just talked about was so the exact opposite of what my will was for my life, and it is better, ten times better than what I could have ever thought it would have been. And so I just encourage you to submit to the Lord because it's freedom. And it's beautiful. So as I close this out in prayer, I want to remind you, as always, if you ever have any prayer requests, please reach out to me. I would love to talk to you, love to connect with you, love to pray for you. I also, I think I mentioned it earlier. I don't mention it enough. I have Bible study every Wednesday night at 7.15 p.m. No matter where you are, you can join. I have a link in my link tree. Um trying to think of where else I have it located. It's in the show notes, maybe. Um, but if you're interested, please reach out to me. However, you can find me, social media, email, whatever. Um, not hard to find. Reach out to me. And um, if you would love to come, like I said, Wednesday, 7.15, I have a Google Meet link. You can hop right on virtually, and you can be surrounded with a bunch of girls and a bunch of women and hear the word every Wednesday night. Get together. Um, yeah, so I'm gonna close this out. Dear Father, thank you so much for this word. Thank you so much for filling me up with your Holy Spirit and helping me deliver this message. It is only because of you that I was able to do this, and I just thank you so, so much. I can't stop thanking you. Um, I just pray for every single listener. I pray that they walk today, walk away today changed, that what they heard today from your mouth, not mine, that they heard from you, I'm just the messenger, that they walk away changed, that they want to submit to you, that they want to be fully submitted to you, that they're encouraged to grow in their faith, that they're encouraged to be on fire for you, that they're encouraged to tell people about Jesus, that they're encouraged to submit their will to you, that they're encouraged to die in their flesh to become more like you, Father. I just pray over every single listener, Father, that they walk away today to want to be submitted to you, to live for you. And I pray protection over them upmost and foremost. I pray that you protect them wherever they are. I pray that they get there safely if they are not driving. Then I just pray over their protection for the rest of the day and over their lives, Father, and I just um intercede on their behalf, and I rebuke the enemy out of their lives. I rebuke any evil, any sadness, any doubt, any depression, any stress. I just rebuke it in the name of Jesus because your power is so much greater. Amen. Alright, thank you guys so much for listening, and I will see you guys next time. Also, wait, don't ex out. One more thing. Pause, pause, pause. Um, I am coming up on the 40th episode. I forgot to say this, I suck. The 40th episode. Every 10th episode, if you don't already know, you get to be um you can share your testimony and get on the podcast with me and share your testimony out to all the listeners um and share the love of Jesus and what he's done for you. So if you're interested in that, please shoot me an email. I would absolutely love to get up with you and for you to share your testimony. So yeah, all right now, I'm done. Promise. See you guys next time.
