the yapping bit
Podcasts are long, aren’t they? And some people like that. But I’ve always thought someone should make a podcast for people who love listening, but struggle to listen to something for 30-45 minutes.
What if there was a podcast that, yes, could be listened to in long-form… but was also a series of mini-podcasts that could be listened to independently. That’s what I’m up to. Stay for one 5-minute segment, or hang for all 5 segments:
The Catch-Up Bit (Updates, Current events)
The Feelings Bit (Getting philosophical, having big feelings)
The Rec Bit (Media recommendations)
The Fandom Bit (My bread and butter)
The Question Bit (Questions and topics directly from all of you!)
However long you’re here, I’ll be yapping, and I’m happy to have you. Welcome to The Yapping Bit.

The Catch-Up Bit
SPEAKER_00Guys, we're so fucking back. We're so fucking back. Happy fucking August. Sorry about last month when I didn't post the podcast for the first month ever since I fucking started. Mind you, it was the anniversary of the podcast. It was July, which meant it was the anniversary. We'll get a little bit into why I didn't post the podcast last month in the feelings bit because it's sappy and emotional, and I just I it inspired me. Even when I didn't have it in me to record a podcast last month, I realized I was like, next month, this is gonna be the feelings bit, and it's gonna be great. But anyway, welcome, welcome back to the yapping bit, you guys. I missed you. I hope you missed me even a little bit. What's so funny is because I didn't have a podcast last month, I actually have so much to talk about this month. So that'll be good, I think. Of course, most of it is like fandom stuff, so the fandom bit is gonna be chock full of crap, I promise you. Like my biggest life update that's worthy of the catch-up bit and nothing else, is the fact that I've acquired an animal. I if you follow me on Instagram, maybe you follow him on Instagram, uh, I got a kitten, his name is Spencer. Honestly, he's probably gonna make recording this podcast a little bit difficult because he for some reason has decided that the cord of my microphone is his newest toy. Can I get him to maybe I can get him to purr into the microphone? I'm holding him right now. Spence, spen! Can you make a noise into the microphone? Oh, he's rubbing himself on it. Can you hear that? Spences He's so cute. So he is purring into the microphone for you guys, but I just listened to it back and it's not picking up. He is so wonderful. You guys know I've done a lot of fostering for kittens that need homes and everything, and there have been a couple, like I know a lot of you wanted me to foster fail Mocha. Um there are a couple of the kittens that I fostered where it's like I've almost foster failed them. I almost was like, you know, maybe I should just keep her or keep him or whatever, because I really like her or whatever. Um, but I'm really glad that I didn't because I took this cat home and I went, oh yeah, you're the reason that I didn't fall in love with any cat for like ever. Oh my goodness, what? Sorry, I'm like holding him like a baby right now. This is gonna be a very distracted podcast. I'm so sorry. But yeah, I'd been wanting a new cat for a while. I had been trying to find one at the shelter that I normally volunteer at, but for some reason I think there was like a weird notch in my brain that couldn't switch. The fact that these were my cats versus cats that I like work with at the shelter. Um so I had trouble. Why are you he's like biting me. Go away. Go away. Oh my god, Spencer. Hey guys, have you ever had a fucking cat that is insane? Hey, whoa! Why are you being so weird? Oh my god, he's so playful right now. I need you to chill the fuck out. My god. As I was saying, good lord, he is like the reason I think that I wasn't able to connect with any of those cats. Because I met him and I knew right away that he was gonna he's my boyo. But since I brought him home, I've been seeing these little qualities in him that are like if it's all my favorite cats that I've worked with and fostered and everything, kind of all wrapped into one cat. He is snuggly, he makes biscuits, he likes my nose, he does everything that I love that every other cat did that like made me kind of want them, but not enough to like lock in on it. And he's just like a little rolled ball of all of it. So he's just really perfect and really wonderful. You guys know I have other animals. I have a dog and I have another cat. Um, Muffin, my dog, is very, very invested and interested in him. She loves him, she thinks he's the bee's knees. Mochi, on the other hand, wants to kill him in his sleep. Mochi wants him dead. Mochi wants nothing to do with him, which is annoying because I partially got him for her. I don't know if you guys remember a while back I posted, it was like one of the feeling spit things where I talked about grief where I had lost my cat that I'd had for like 10 or 11 years, and it was really hard. And it wasn't just hard for me, it was hard for her. Like she would go downstairs where and like where he used to be and cry. And she had a really hard time for a while, and I mean we kind of got into a swing of just the two of us, and it's been really great, but sometimes like when she's alone, she'll come downstairs and cry, or she'll hide, or whatever. And I really was like, maybe she just needs a friend, and now I've gotten her a friend that is really lovely and really wants to spend time with her, and she wants him dead in a ditch. She really is such a bitch about it. She wants nothing to do with him. As I record this podcast, she is currently locked in his room, Spencer's room. She's locked in there because I need her to get used to his scent. Uh, because every time she sees him, she gets so pissed off and starts hissing and being like literally a bitch. Like she's actually a bitch. And I say this, loving her more than I love almost anything in the entire world. I love her so much. She is one of my most special, special little things that I've acquired in my life. I would follow her into battle. I would die for her. She's a bitch. She's a bitch. And honestly, if anyone was gonna have a cat that was a bitch, I'm really glad it's me because I'm one who will appreciate the fact that she's a bitch. Like, yeah, girl, stand your ground for real. But she did attack me this morning. Like, fully attack me. Like, she she actually like there's blood on my arm as as I speak to you in this moment in time. She is just not happy with me. She's trying her best. She loves me very much, and it's actually kind of confusing and sad because like she'll be growling and she'll be mad because she smells him, and then she'll like rub her legs or rub on my legs, and I'm like, I know you're like mad and you're you're like searching for comfort at the same time. So you're like attacking me, but also you're rubbing on me because you love me. So like I don't know what you want from me, but she's doing fine. Is she doing fine? I don't know, guys. It'll they'll be fine, they'll figure it out. It's it's one of those things with cats where like integrating the two of them is always really complicated. But do not be concerned. I am giving Mochi all of the time that she needs. Not that I'm any of you maybe were concerned, she's a cat. Um, but I don't know. I view all my animals very much as like little pieces of my heart. So I want all of them to be happy and I want them to be healthy, and I want them to be all the good things. I really just want to do right by them. And that includes now Mr. Spencer, who is really wormed his little way into my heart. Uh I feel bad. This morning I let him sleep in my bed with me for the first time, because it's what he's been wanting, but I just wasn't sure where Mochi wanted to go, so but I let him sleep in my bed with me for the first time, and I woke up because I rolled on him by accident and I almost fucking killed him. No, he's fine. But it was really funny because he just was like, Oh, uh you're uh hello? And I was like, My bad, dude. My bad, bro. Not used to sleeping with a man in my bed, but we'll get there. Hi, Mr. Spencers. Spencer Benz. Hi. Whenever I say hi, he like looks over and he runs over to me. It's really cute. Spences!
The Feelings Bit
SPEAKER_00Alrighty, now let's get into the feelings bit, and yes, let's get into the fact that I completely neglected you guys last month. Yes, I am very deeply sorry. I'm sure it really wasn't that big of a deal to all of you, but it was a big deal to me, and that's part of what we're gonna talk about here. I don't remember exactly what it was that I had done the day that I was planning to record this podcast or like the day before, but I so I'm autistic. I don't know if you guys know that. Like, got the diagnosis, I have autism, I have ADHD, and with that comes, I'm I'm not non-verbal, but the way I try to explain it to people, and I've felt this my entire life. I really just thought it was like a weird quirk that I had. But sometimes, like talking into this podcast mic right now feels like each sentence that I'm saying is like moving a feather, right? It's not that hard. It's not difficult. It's just kind of what it is. I'm talking and I feel fine and everything is great. But sometimes when I am overwhelmed or overstimulated or things like that, talking begins to feel a little bit more like each syllable is pushing a boulder up a mountain, right? And it's something that I usually try to push through, no matter how exhausting I find it. Like I'll be with people and I don't want to stop talking, so I'll just like think of what I want to say first, and then I'll find a way to say it with less words. And I'm pretty good at hiding it, honestly. A lot of times people can't really tell. I think it's because I've been doing it for so, so many years. And when I was younger, before we figured out that I was autistic, I would just sort of hide in my room because I didn't feel like talking. Um, and my family all thought it was depression. My therapist at the time thought it was depression because women never get diagnosed with autism when they should. But that's what it was. It was actually kind of sad. Like I would sit in my room and I would write like fictional stories about characters who were like non-verbal or didn't talk, and everyone around them was just okay with it and loved them anyway. But I didn't know how to really even ask for that at the time. I didn't know how to be okay with the fact that sometimes pushing words out felt like moving mountains. But I've gotten better at letting myself take the time I need when I'm feeling that way. And just sort of, there are some friends that I have, particularly Maddie Beaver. Shout out to Maddie Beaver, where like if I'm feeling non-verbal in that kind of way, I can like, and she's like, Hey, do you want to FaceTime? I can be like, hey, I'm really sorry. I'm feeling really like I can't get words out right now. Can we do it another time? Or sometimes with her, also, like, because she's autistic too. Like, sometimes with her, if I'm not feeling like I can use words as much, like I can, we both know a little bit of sign language, so I can throw a couple signs out there and she just gets it. And I'm gonna be honest with you, I've pushed through that feeling to record the podcast in the past. I have. And usually what ends up happening is I start pushing and like I get into a groove, and it just sort of becomes a little bit easier as I go through the podcast and I can get the words out, and everything is fine, and the podcast is great. And I don't regret recording those podcasts at all because sometimes I think I need to push myself through those moments. And I was planning to last month, but I was just looking at the microphone and like thinking about the idea of sitting in front of a microphone and talking for 30 to 40 minutes, and like even just the idea made me want to like burst into tears. Like, it just was so hard. I literally cannot remember the last time I felt that shut down verbally. And I was so mad at myself because I was like, I put this commitment out where I record the podcast every single month, and it's one recording. Like a lot of people put out weekly podcasts. I do this once a month, it's not that hard. I just record it and then I like upload it and it's not a big deal. And I was just really frustrated with myself that I put it off to the last minute because it was like the last day that I could record it, and I really wanted to just push through it. But then I think I remembered a quote that I read in Cynthia Erivo's book. She was talking about when she was filming Wicked and she had to be in the harness when she was flying, and every time she had to use the bathroom, they would have to take her out of the harness, and it was such a hassle, and then they'd have to get her back in it, and it would cause delays and everything like that. So she was trying really hard to not yield that and not cause that time delay. But in reflecting on it later, she kind of thought about how having that limit, like the the film would have still been made if she had let herself go use the bathroom. If she had given herself those limits and those boundaries and let herself exist in that way, she everything would have still been fine. I believe her exact quote is having limits doesn't make you limited. And that quote has resonated with me a shit ton in a lot of different aspects. And I heard that quote in my head when I was like gonna push through, and I was like, No, I just need to take this month. I just need to let myself have that break. And I know, like, we're talking, I know I'm talking about my autism and I'm talking about mental health things here, but this is such a universal thing, right? Where like we are all sitting around wanting to get done as much as physically possible, not wanting to inconvenience anyone, not wanting to let anyone down, not wanting to make anyone's lives more difficult than they already are, especially now with how difficult things are, just generally speaking, especially in America, good God. But if you don't give people chances to give you grace, you will assume that that grace does not exist. Right? When I decided there wasn't gonna be an episode of the podcast, I put something quick up on my Instagram story and the responses were very kind. Everyone was really understanding, and I like I don't know why I didn't expect everyone to be understanding. Maybe it's just because I'm so hard on myself and everyone is so hard on themselves, you know. But I guess the gist of the feelings bit this month is like give other people the opportunity to show you grace. Because if you assume that they're not going to, and you assume that you can't have the limits that you need to have, you won't. You won't. And that can be so, so detrimental. So thank you guys again, obviously, for being understanding. I hope that puts it a little bit into like a perspective as to why it didn't exist last month. And I hope you all take care of yourselves the way I sort of forced myself to take care of myself last month, even when it's not easy, because you never know. Sometimes, I mean, think about it this way, too. Like everyone around you wants the opportunity to be able to show you kindness and give you grace. And sometimes taking what you need is part of letting them do that. Let people care about you, let people be there for you, and let's get
The Recs Bit
SPEAKER_00into the rex bit. For the rex bit, first things first, we are going to acknowledge the fact that I finished another book. Yes, God. Yes, God. If you've been following along over the past couple of months, you know that I've been reading the Acatar books. I'm trying to get through the whole Sarah J. Mass verse before the next Avatar books come out. I don't think that's going to happen. For those of you who are familiar, I am about one-fifth of the way through A Court of Silver Flames now. And after this, I have to read the entire Throne of Glass series and the entire Crescent City series, which is quite literally thousands of pages. So we're gonna see how I can do. We're gonna see what I'm capable of. As for TV, I feel like I'm not watching enough TV lately, which I know probably sounds like such a weird problem to have, but I feel like I'm having issues with like getting locked in on a show. I'm very much just kind of doing that thing where you're gonna have the TV on while you're doing something else. So you put on something that you've seen a hundred times, like friends or supernatural or whatever you end up watching. But I will say, the other day I decided I was going to throw on the pilot of yellow jackets for the first time. I've never seen yellow jackets, which is crazy because I'm a queer woman, so I feel like every gay woman in the world has seen yellow jackets. But I hadn't, and I threw on the pilot, and I sat down and I said, I'm going to watch the pilot, and the pilot is phenomenal. Guys, it's so good. The art of the pilot is such like an underrated thing, I feel like. Like supernatural has an incredible pilot. And I actually, I just we're gonna talk about this in the fan a bit, but I watched it again when I was going to the Mementous event with Jared and his friend Anson. It's just like a top-tier pilot, and I feel like the pilot for Yellow Jackets is exactly the same level. So I'm very excited to get into that a little bit. If any of you watch that show, please let me know. I'm very interested in like the takes then or the things that I should be prepared for, you know? I watched a couple good movies in July, watched a couple in August. I'm gonna talk about all of them because I can't shut up. First things first, we're gonna talk about our Pookie girl, Miss Catherine Newton. Everyone makes some noise for Catherine Newton. I would die for her, love her down. I thought Ready or Not Too, I watched that finally. I thought that one was amazing. But when I met her at Rhode Island Comic-Con last year, she had mentioned she was like, I mean, everyone's gonna watch Ready or Not 2, but I'm really worried that people aren't gonna watch a movie that I did called Devil's Mouth, and I love that movie, and I'm really proud of it, and I really want people to watch it. So I remember deciding I was gonna watch it and being really, really excited about it because she specifically was like, I really want people to watch this movie, okay? Please, I really want people to watch it. She was so cute about it. And it's a great movie, guys. I love a shark movie. I love the aesthetics of that movie. I thought it was really, really well done. And I'm not just saying that because it's Catherine, okay? I'm really not. I really thought it was a fun watch. It was a good time. I love movies that are a good time. You are going to spend the entire time though rooting for Catherine's character and wanting half of the other characters to fucking die. Because half of them are so annoying. Oh my god. It's intentional. Like it's clearly part of the plot that they're insufferable. But it was frustrating for me because one thing about me, Lana Condor is in that movie. I love Lana Condor. Love her, love her, love her down. I could not stand her character. I couldn't. I hated her character. And I was supposed to, but it's hard for me to hate beautiful women. It is. It's really difficult for me emotionally. But that one's on, I think, Amazon Prime. It's free to watch. Watch it if you haven't already. She wanted people to watch it. She was like, please have people watch. So please go watch that movie. It's so good. It's so much fun. It's a shark horror movie. What more could you want? Especially like as the summer's coming to a close. Close out your summer with a shark movie. I also finally watched the drama with Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. One thing about me is I somehow managed to get to the point that I watched that movie earlier this month without a single spoiler. I don't know how I did it. I think it was completely accidental. I don't know how I found out nothing about what the movie was actually about. All I had found out was that it's not a rom-com like it seems like it is, and Zendaya's character did something whack. That's all I heard. That's all I knew. And I was like, and especially like you can gather some of that from the trailer that Zendaya's character did something and that causes a little wretch in their relationship. I got nothing else, and I went in so blind, and it was ugh. In case you haven't seen it yet, I'm not gonna say what it was that her character did, but I'm gonna tell you what I thought it was. I thought that she had like murdered someone in like a hit and run. I thought that it was something like that. No. No, that's not what it is. It was something very, very intentional and very, very crazy, and it went in direction that I was not prepared for this movie to go. So it was it was an interesting watch. It was a lot. But Zendaya was phenomenal in it, Robert Pattinson was phenomenal in it. It was really I liked it. It was just a c it was not what I was expecting as a movie, which I feel like is the intention of that movie. Because the character, Robert Pattinson's character, does not expect what he gets from Zendaya's character, so you're supposed to go in with expectations that are incorrect. But it was a crazy film. Finally, I want to talk about the Odyssey, and I have a lot of opinions about the Odyssey, so we're gonna get with the fussy stuff first. I don't like that it was filmed in 75mm IMAX. I don't like that. I think that's yucky. I think that's annoying. I wanted to watch it on 75mm because I don't know. I have a weird thing. I want to see films and stories the way that they're intended to be seen. Uh, I very carefully decided I was gonna see Avatar, the latest Avatar that came out. I wanted to see that in IMAX. I really care about that stuff. So I really wanted to see it the way it was intended to be seen. But the closest 75mm IMAX theaters to me are Boston and New York. And that's hours away. So I was not doing that. No fucking way. And I just think, like, in a world where AI is taking over everything, we need to make real human-made art super fucking like accessible. We need to make it as accessible as possible so that way people don't turn to the fucking demons of the internet, okay? And before anyone gets into this, I'm aware that the film can be watched not on IMAX 75mm, all right? I'm aware that it's not necessary. You can watch it and enjoy it without that. I watched it and enjoyed it on one of the smallest screens, arguably near me, at a very, very tiny little local theater where I spent $8.50 on a ticket at like 3 p.m. Okay, that's how I enjoyed the Odyssey. And I did enjoy it, but it's just irritating that I know I didn't get the best version of the film. You know? And there's a lot of people who aren't gonna get the best version of the film. And even when we watch it at home, we are not going to get the best version of the film. I guess I just don't understand what the appeal is if that's the case. If the if the if the masses of the world are not going to enjoy your film the way that you want it to be seen, and after it's run in movie theaters, it is never going to be seen that way again, probably. Why would you film it that way? Why would you want that even? And I'm not just talking about the Odyssey, I'm talking about everything. Why would you make why would anyone make something that can only be fully enjoyed to the fullest potential on a small scale? I don't know. Maybe I'm just like weird and inclusive and I just want everyone to be able to enjoy everything at the fullest potential, but like I don't know. Guys, ugh. But really quick, hopping off my soapbox, approaching the bench, I did really love the movie. I did. I was worried I wouldn't because it's a really long movie, and sometimes with really, really long movies, I find myself going, okay, when is this gonna end? Like how much more is how much time is left? Like, I'm checking my phone to see how much time is left. But I didn't do that with this movie. I feel like because it's such an epic, there was enough story there to the point that it didn't feel like a three-hour long movie. Like there wasn't anything that felt like filler, but I will say Anne Hathaway carried that movie. Anne Hathaway, her performance, that was like the best part of the whole movie. Her, she was so good. So was Lupine and Yango, but I just am biased and I love her down. But I am curious to see how that movie is going to look on like digital. Like, is the cropping from the IMAX like 70 millimeter? Is that what's gonna be on digital? I actually wouldn't be mad about that. I actually think that would be a really cool thing to do, but I doubt they're gonna do that. I don't know.
The Fandom Bit
SPEAKER_00Alright, let's get into the fandom bit. Alright, there's a lot to talk about because I have to talk about July and I have to talk about August. There was a lot going on fandom-wise for me. I know this is not the usual fandom type thing we talk about, but I did end up going to a Louis Tomlinson concert. 10 out of 10 would recommend I love you, Louie Tomlinson. Except I was like a little bit ill the entire time. I had a tummy ache, but I was really brave about it, and I still had fun in the pit. I was in the pit, and it was fun still. Kim and Brianna also had a momentous event that was really wonderful. I was really excited. I got to ask them a question and I got to show Kim the foster kitten that I had named after her. Kim and her brother Timmy have since been adopted, by the way. Their names are now Artemis and Apollo, uh, which I have to tell Kim at some point that Kim's name is now Artemis, which she will fucking adore that. But I asked Kim and Brianna about pet names that they'd heard that they loved over the years, and Brianna told me that she had met a cat that was a girl named Dad. Which that's like the best thing I've ever heard. Speaking of cats. Did you hear it that time? He's purring so loudly right now, Spencer. You're so cute. Oh my god, you're stinky. Did you fart? He be farting, he be tootin' and farting like crazy. Of July and August, though. August was definitely the big month. I had Fan Expo Boston again this year. I have such a soft spot for Fan Expo Boston. They were the first con company to really like believe in me and the stuff that I do on social media and like see it and say yes and say we want you here. So it meant a lot to be able to come back again and have such a great time again. The cast of the boys was there. Colby Minifee was absolutely hysterical. Valerie Curry was really wonderful. By the way, guys, if you don't follow Valerie Curry on Instagram, can you go ahead and do that? We were talking about it, and she was like, because we were talking about because there's so many men in the lines for the women who were on the boys, like they all wanted to meet like Valerie Curry and like Aaron Moriarty. And like I I was like a one it was a I was a lone girl in a sea of men who wanted to fuck her, basically. It was crazy. But if you could just go ahead and follow her on Instagram, because I told her I walked up to her table, I was like, hello, brief estrogen break for you. Hi. And she like laughed and we were talking and she mentioned she was like, Yeah, like on Instagram, like all my socials, like my algorithms are like. Like mostly men follow me. It's like 90% men or something crazy. And I don't know what I did to deserve that, which I thought was really funny. And I told her, I was like, what's crazy is like I talk about the boys all the time. And most of my following is women. So like I feel like all of the women have flocked to me. So if all of the women who have flocked to me could simply also go flock to Valerie Curry, that would be really wonderful. But lines were kind of tricky that weekend. So I was able to see Colby Minifee, Valerie Curry, and Laz Alonso. I wasn't able to see Carl Urban. I wasn't able to see Aaron Moriarty. That's the one thing about being pressed for a con, is like you don't really have the entire day to just sit in line because you have to be covering the con. So I didn't have all day to be sitting in their lines, but it was really cool to be able to meet who I was able to meet, and like the panels were really awesome. And I got to meet Chris Evans. Hey guys, I've held hands with Captain America. I know I won't stop saying it. I'm never going to. I'm never going to. I've held hands with Captain America. By the way, also, if you look at the op that I did with him, I held his hand and I put my hand on his arm. So I'm just saying that I have felt Captain America's bicep, and I wasn't weird about it, obviously. And I didn't even realize that that was happening until I left. Like I left and I went, oh my god, I held his arm. But Chris was so sweet. It was so cute. We walked up and he was like, get over here. Like in his little boss. He's so Bostonian. He's so Massachusetts. He radiates Massachusetts. It's hysterical. It was really good to see the Cast of Twilight as well. You guys know I've met Kellen Lutz a bunch of times. We've interacted on the internet. I don't know if he remembered me this time, like specifically, but like we we there were hugs all around, and he's just one of the loveliest people in the entire world. I will say though, during photo ops with Kellen Lutz, I became a giggly little girl. It was so humili. I oh my god, I was so bad. I need you to imagine you're me, right? Imagine you're me, imagine you're me. Imagine you're me, and you walk up to Kellen Lutz, and the first thing he does is open his arms and look at you and go, hey baby. Oh then he looks at your hair and he goes, Oh my god, your hair is so gorgeous. And then he dives down to hug you for the picture, and then when you pull away, he's like, Oh my god, your hair is so gorgeous. Look at it. He starts fiddling with the ends and like touching it and playing with it. Hey, hey guys, hey. That was crazy of him. That was crazy of him. I walked out of the photo op booth the wrong way. I did. It was so embarrassing. And I almost fell over. I almost fell over on the way out, walking the wrong direction. Hey guys. Hey guys, it happens to the best of us. It does. Thankfully, though, I was talking to one of the workers after, and I was like, could you tell that I almost fell over and died as I was leaving? And she was like, No, you were fine. And I was like, Oh thank god. And maybe she was lying to me, but I'm just gonna hold on to that with a vice-like grip and walk on. That's all I'm gonna do. And then at the time of recording this, yesterday, I was able to go to that momentous event with Jared and his friend Anson when they watched the first episode of Supernatural. Guys, that was so much fun. Who else was there? I had so much fun. Anson is so cool. It was so fun to watch his reaction to things. And like during the pilot at one point, where like the woman in white is in the backseat of or like going in the guy's car or whatever, and she's being hot and stuff. And Anson, like, he's the character says to the woman in white, like, yeah, I'll take you home. And Anson's like, that's the right answer. And everyone in the comments and Jared were all like, Oh no, Anson, no, no, Anson, no. And Jared was throwing out a bunch of like little tidbits and stuff that I had never heard before about the pilot. Because he's because I mean, he answers questions about everything at cons and everything, but it's different when it's like right in front of you because he's watching scenes and as they're happening, he's thinking of little things that I'd never heard before. I'm actually gonna make a video about all of them. That was stuff that I wrote down. But like, for example, like, did you guys know? You know the scene in the pilot where uh the famous, famous scene where Dean is like driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cake. Yeah. Jared saw Sam flipping through those tapes and he went, Oh my god, wait, guys, I have some of those tapes. I have some of them. When we rapped, I took some of them with me. I have some of those tapes. How crazy is that? He just has them. The tapes from 2005. He acquired them in 2020. That's insane. But yeah, it was really great. It was so much fun. And I guess Anson and Jared are gonna do an art class in October, early October, I believe. Remember, if you guys use my affiliate code bestie underscore emmy, you can get 10% off of any of the tickets you get. Very exciting. I will be there. I'm actually thinking I'm gonna get like some art stuff and like actually try to do art with them because I think that could be so much fun. Anson said that we should do that, so I'm really looking forward
The Questions Bit
SPEAKER_00to it. All right, let's get into the question bit. As usual, you guys know you can either send me questions via email to bestie.emmy at gmail.com or you can answer on my Instagram story every Saturday when I do my QA's, and I like to pull questions from there as well. Mia Jane B asked who my favorite Cullen is, and hers is Rosalie. Excellent choice. Rosalie is an excellent choice. Personally, my favorite Cullen has always been Emmett, and I'm not just saying that because I've met Kellen and I love Kellen. I've met most of the Cullens, honestly, and they're all incredible and wonderful. Emmett for me is just, oh my god, sorry. I don't know if you heard that. Spencer is like knocking things over and being insane. He's so playful right now. It's crazy. But I feel like with the Cullens, everyone kind of always has some kind of angsty thing going on except Emmett. Emmett's really just there to vibe and have a good time and be a wonderful little like freak. He's a freak. I love him. I love Emmett. He's like so big and scary, but I feel like he's just this soft, soft teddy bear. And that's honestly like, it's a little bit like Kellen, too. Because Kellen's like really tall and he can be like maybe intimidating, because whatever, but like he's such like a little softy. So I feel like he's a little bit like Emmett in that way. And I that's part of why I love him, because I love Emmett so much. Close second is Alice, though. I love Alice. Alice is so real. She's such she's so interesting to me because she's so well grounded in a family that really, like I said, it just has a lot of angsty shit going on. Jesse Ann Williams asked me how Jared reacted to my new cat Spencer. Here's the thing: I didn't sometimes I'm able to get on screen with momentous events where like they'll pull me on and I can ask a question. That happens. Anyone has a chance to do that. But this time I was not pulled on, and that's totally fine. I everyone who was pulled on was really great and it was really fun. I was not pulled on, so Jared didn't see Spencer like in real time. But I posted a video, I don't know if you guys saw it, of when they first got on screen and I was holding Spencer, just kind of reacting to them being silly, and then afterwards looking at Spencer and being like, That's Jared, we would die for him. We would. This morning he liked that video on Instagram, so I guess he is now aware of Spencer. So I assume he liked it. I guess that's what I'll tell you. He liked Spencer and me by proxy, I suppose. And finally, Ackle's lover girly asked me if I have like tips and tricks for having and running a good fan page. That's a really good question. I get asked a lot of stuff about how to be like and do content creator-y type things. But it's very rare that it's like fan page fandom specific. So this is I'm I was I saw this and I got excited, and I was like, I set it aside for the podcast very specifically. Because there's tons of stuff out there about like how to run a good Instagram and let I mean like post like at least three times a week and like whatever, yada yada. Like the the basics of social media, that kind of thing. But like doing fandom stuff is such a different monster, I think. Because fandoms already have their own sort of groups, I think is a good word to use, where it's like there's some people that are sort of invested in one part of the story or the show or the music act or whatever, and there's another group that's invested in this other thing and whatever. The supernatural fandom in particular is a little bit divided in like the shippings pieces of things, which is why I stay out of the shipping stuff because that's not my jam. But I think having a fanpage that people want to be maybe invested in is all about making sure it's inclusive to everybody and understanding all of those things. Like being new in a fandom and having a fan page, and I say this from personal experience, like you're going to say things that maybe might ignite one side of a fandom in a way that uh wouldn't necessarily uh be something you expect. So being careful about that kind of thing is really important, I think. And also, and I think this is good advice in general for people who want to be uh content creators, is like it's so important to uh keep the scope of what you're doing on the internet positive. And I know it's really easy to get like traction and stuff if you're posting angry stuff or like think pieces or those different types of things. It's easy to maybe get views that kind of way, but that's not how you build a community around you. Does that make sense? No one wants to be really in a community with someone who's angry all the time or someone who's trying to have a gotcha moment with different pieces of the fandom or different actors or whatever it is. Everyone just wants to have a good time. I've realized over the years. Everyone just wants to have fun. So if you're trying to just have a good time, stay out of the crap, I feel like that's a really good way to build a group of people around you who care about maybe what you have to say as much as you care about what they have to say. Also, stay updated on things. As much as uh it's important to not be addicted to social media, but be aware of what's going on on social media, be aware of what's going on in the fan base that you're making a page on. So that way, because like a lot if everyone's talking about something, that's a really good opportunity for you to talk about it as well in a way that maybe people haven't heard yet, or even just in a way that you can engage with other people. I hope that's helpful. I I don't know. I feel like I've made a lot of blunders over the years, fandom wise. So I've I've I think I've finally reached a point where I have it down to a science. And I think that's gonna do it, guys, for August. August 2026 and kind of July 2026. I think it was a little bit of both. Again, thank you guys so much for your grace and patience. Last month, I'm happy to be back. I love making this podcast. I love being able to talk to you. I love hearing from you guys after you listen to it. I get little DMs and it makes me so happy. I will talk to you next month after I've seen Harry Styles in Madison Square Garden. So we will be discussing that. Stay sexy, stay yappy, keep the bits up, guys. If you're going back to school, good luck, and I will talk to you soon. Love you.
