Go Pluck Yourself: The Actor's Pursuit -- The new podcast by Chris Gun

Because the Hollywood cavalry is not on its way to pluck you from obscurity like the proverbial claw of a claw machine. Only you are responsible for your little dent in this industry. No one is coming to pluck you out of the crowd — You have to pluck yourself.

Join actor Chris Gun as he chats to his creative pals about life as an actor navigating this wonderful industry.  These are the conversations that actors and filmmakers have between takes, between shoot dates, whilst waiting for their next gig. Go pluck yourself. You know, I used to think that, on this pursuit to making it as an actor, that eventually the powers that be would decide that it was my time and someone would come along and pluck me from the crowd like, right kid, you're up, it's your turn to be a big, famous actor. But let's be real actors. The Hollywood cavalry is not on its way to pluck you from obscurity like the proverbial claws of a claw machine. And why would they? The industry does not owe you anything. It is up to you, and it won't happen overnight. In fact, it might never happen. And even if it does happen, it is up to you to maintain it. But whatever your version of success looks like, know this it is a slow and tedious ascent. As they say, it takes 10 years to become an overnight success. Besides, making it should not be the goal. The goal should be to refine your skills and to become more in tune with your craft every single day.

So audition for that short film, enroll in that weekend workshop, reach out to the filmmakers that you want to work with, read the books, listen to the podcasts, make that online content. No matter how unbearably cringe it feels, it is entirely your responsibility to be constantly seeking opportunities to learn and to be humbled and to build authentic connections in this industry and to reflect and grow from every single experience that you have. But only you are responsible for you. No one's going to do this for you. No one is going to pluck you from the crowd. You have to pluck yourself. So go on, actors, go pluck yourself, go Pluck Yourself. The Actor's Pursuit. The new podcast by me, chris Gunn, coming soon to YouTube and wherever you get your podcasts, follow at gopluckyourselfpod on Instagram and YouTube to stay updated. Episode one coming soon.
