Speaker 1:

My name's Chris Gunn and you should go pluck yourself. Okay, here we go. Let's call this episode zero. Now, before you go and hit play on the first official episode, which is my lovely chat with my very good friend and fellow actor, nick Launchbury, I just wanted to post this kind of prologue episode and have a little chat about what this is and who I am and what you can expect from this podcast. So welcome to Go, pluck Yourself.

Speaker 1:

The Actor's Pursuit with Chris Gunn. That's me. I'm an actor and I work in film, tv commercials and theatre. If you've come across my socials before, you might know me as the guy that played Noel Gallagher in Michael Gracie's epic Robbie Williams biopic Better man. So there you go. That's my current claim to fame. But look, I'm not going to sit here and rattle off my resume, because I really don't like doing that and you'll never get those 15 seconds back. But if you do want to find out who I am and some of the roles that I've played, feel free to check out my Instagram and TikTok, which is at featuring underscore Chris, underscore gun. All right, good, that's the shameless but necessary self-promotion out of the way.

Speaker 1:

So what can you expect from this show? I might start with why I started the podcast, and the reason is that every time I'm on a film set or I'm driving to set with another actor, I always end up having these really lovely, honest and in-depth conversations with other actors and filmmakers, and I always come away from these chats just absolutely buzzing with creative energy and inspiration. These kinds of conversations are where I learn the most about this industry and this craft and about myself. So I thought why not share these conversations with whoever wants to listen and hey, that might be you. So whether you're an actor or a filmmaker, or you're just someone who appreciates the world of acting and filmmaking and you're curious about what goes on in the lives and minds of people doing this work, then this is for you. I'm going to be talking to actors, directors, cinematographers, producers just anyone who's revolving around this industry. I genuinely love having these conversations and I think you will too.

Speaker 1:

Now I'm wary of advice and I don't want you to come into this thing thinking that this podcast is just going to be me screaming acting advice into your ears. Even though the title Go Pluck Yourself is straight up advice, the podcast itself is not intended to be an acting advice podcast. These are candid chats between two creatives discussing the things that have worked for them and the things that haven't. They're chats about curiosity and insights into the lives and careers of real working actors and filmmakers. But some of those insights might come across as advice, and if and when you do hear something that feels like advice, please take it with a pinch of salt, as you should with anything that you hear on the internet. If something sits well with you, try it on, see if it fits, but if it doesn't feel right, just mark it as a different perspective or disregard it completely.

Speaker 1:

Acting is such a personal and individual process and there is no one right way to go about it. Everyone's path is different. We're all just trying to figure it out in our own way. So that's about it. I'm really excited to get started with this thing and show you what I've been working on. I have absolutely loved hanging out with my creative pals and talking about the things that we're so passionate about. Please make sure you hit subscribe if you're watching on YouTube or follow on whatever podcast platform you're using, and, of course, follow the podcast on Instagram and TikTok, which is at gopluckyourselfpod. Now please go ahead and press play on episode one, my lovely chat with one of the most undeniably talented and committed actors that I know, mr Nick Langebury. My name is Chris Gunn and hey, go, pluck yourself.
