Anthony and John give their review and opinions on the new Ready or not 2 here I come! Beware some spoilers may occur!
What's going on, guys? I am the Black Sheep Anthony C. And I am the big John V. From South Carolina all the way to Cali. This is, if you're ready for it or not, a new edition of One Take, Real Talk on movies, games, and everything, because I don't get to say this till October, horror pop culture. Well, yeah, this is true. I would would you call it horror, though, John? I don't know. I see this more as an action thriller type deal. But anyway.
SPEAKER_01This is a multi-drama movie, but let's get to what we're talking about before we get into all that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but as okay, guys. But today, we're coming with you with another movie review because John seen it, I seen it. And we're here to talk about Ready or Not, Here We Come. Or Here I Come. What's the name of it? I know Ready or Not.
SPEAKER_01Ready or not, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Here I Come, because it's Yeah, Here I Come, yeah. So yeah, Ready or Not, Here I Come, which is Ready or Not 2, which is a sequel to the original Ready or Not from 2019. Crazy that movie came out pre-COVID. But yeah. Crazy to say that movie came out seven years ago. I know, right? So, yeah, man. So I saw it.
SPEAKER_01Someone's watching this and just is like, wait, what'd you say?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So I saw this movie Friday. John saw it, what, Sunday? Saturday. I saw it. Saturday. Okay. Yeah, so we don't know. We kind of know what we feel about it. I mean, because I we gave each other like a one-sentence review or whatever. But uh, we're gonna do this traditionally, the same way we do everything, guys. First half of the show will be about non-spoilers. Second half, we're gonna probably dive into some spoilers. But John, what did you think about this movie overall? Okay, Anthony, can I ask a question before we do that?
SPEAKER_01What's up? What would you give for just for a little bit of uh context for people listening and kind of know where we're basing this off of? What do you give the first ready or not?
SPEAKER_00First ready, you know, I think it's a solid eight, eight and a half. It's a fun time.
SPEAKER_01Okay, that's probably around where I would land it.
SPEAKER_00Eight, maybe eight and a half. Yeah, it's it's not a perfect movie by any means, but it's one that I don't mind revisiting and I have a lot of fun with. It's a very fun movie.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's it's it's a good shut your brain off and have a fun time with it. Like yes. And this one is I guess this is a kind of kind of a pretty blatant way to say this, guys. If you liked the first one, you're gonna like this one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. If you liked the first one, this one was a very fun time. I can't wait to see the sister spin off, which is they will kill you. But uh, I think that I think between the two movies, I did have fun with this one, and They Will Kill You comes out this week. It comes out this Friday. It came out comes out Thursday, and I'll see it Friday. I I have higher hopes for that one just because it's an original story and they're super similar, which is crazy eerie. Like, yeah, it literally drops seven days after Ready or Not, and it's crazy to say that. Yeah, they're they're real.
SPEAKER_01I was like, this is very ready or not esque to be dropping the ready or not vehicle.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and see, like, and I brought this to John's attention when the first trailer dropped, and for they will kill you, and I'm like, dude, I was like, I it's uh before I sent you the trailer, I was like, man, this is like very ready or not. And but like one thing I will give that they will kill you from what I've seen at the trailers is it looks more like John Wick meets Kill Bill kind of action with a little bit of the ray, you know what I mean, with the little satanic coat space sprayed on top. But uh anyway, yeah, we're not gonna get too deep into they will kill you. We have enough time with that next week. But uh, John, yeah, how did you feel about this movie, man?
SPEAKER_01I think if I was gonna kind of give you like a little bit of a baseline explanation, it is the definition of a number two in a sequel movie. Um, and and if anyone like needs a little clarification on what I'm saying, it's your Rocky Twos. It's your Die Hard 2, it's Terminator 2, it's bigger.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, it's not Terminator 2. Yeah, I'm sorry. I don't know. Yeah, yeah, yeah, no. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's definitely Die Hard 2 and Rocky 2. It it because if you get Die Hard 1 and 2 confused, and you get Rocky 1 and 2 confused, that is very valid because they're beat for beat. Damn near the same movie almost. Except a little bit, I mean, the location change, here, hint, you know what I'm saying? Location changes, and the villains are very like okay, very carpet, copy and paste, and but the but the lore is expanded. That makes sense.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's a perfect example.
SPEAKER_00Hey, you might like your your your your your quality deal. I'm I'm sorry, guys. I'm sorry. Hear me better now. Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_01So that like I said, just perfect example of it is a number two. It's bigger, it's more bombastic, it is your traditional movie sequel. Yes. And like and like we said, if you like the first one, you're gonna like this one. But how about you, Anthony? Where are you falling on things?
SPEAKER_00Oh man, I I had a fun time with this movie. I had to pee for like the last 30 minutes of the movie, and I didn't want to miss anything of it. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I had if it makes me feel better, I had the same thing. And uh there's a conver there was a scene where they were having a conversation, and I was like, okay, this seems like a moment where I can like walk out and come back in real quick. Yeah. I come back in, and I'm midway through a spoiler. I was like, Whoa.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, no, like, dude, I I didn't leave. I didn't leave my seat. I got all my stuff squared away beforehand. The biggest mistake I made was going with a zero sugar soda over my normal icy, and that's where the mistake happened. But uh anyway, um, but yeah, man, nah, this movie is fun from the get-go. Like, it literally picks up right where the last one ends. Not even skip, like, no beat is switched from number one to number two. You can literally cut off number one like 30 seconds before the movie ends, like right before she walks outside, and you can start this one and it doesn't miss, it doesn't miss a beat. Also, like, respect to the continuity.
SPEAKER_01I was impressed how similar she looked.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I know, and then like crazy, man, like not much has changed in that period of time between the first movies, seven years. I mean, dude, I mean, what can you say, man? Hey, she aged well. The movie the the the good thing is this this story aged well. People actually cared to show up to this movie. And in another thing, this movie is crazy funny. I did not expect it to be that funny, like for real. It was it was witty.
SPEAKER_01I there were a couple moments where I was like, oh, that's that's where they went with this.
SPEAKER_00Okay, interesting. I love the lore building, I love the stipulations. I watched a very famous, like, I ain't gonna say famous. I watched one of my favorite YouTubers before I watched this to get, you know, just to get a feel for where they thought this, because we kind of align on most movies. And I was like, they they mentioned something about they set rules and that then the rules don't matter. I mean, I didn't get that. I thought this this was very they they established the rules, they were very clear on the rules, and I think they stuck to it. I mean, I don't, I didn't, it was I maybe upon a second or third watching, I found a little couple plot holes, but off first, you and I enjoyed it too much to care if there were any plot holes.
SPEAKER_01So the way I kind of, and maybe like what they're saying is probably what I was gonna say with stipulations of the rules. It's less that the rules don't matter, and it's more like okay, if the rules weren't here, because I like this isn't a spoiler, guys, because it's in the trailer, but basically, like they're using weapons from the time their their family got put in, right? Like that's what they have to use. And I feel like what he was saying more was it didn't really matter because, like, there's uh, you know, one dude using a full full-on sniper rifle, and then there's another couple over here using like a machete. So I'm like, ah, you know, I mean, I think I think it mattered though.
SPEAKER_00I think it kind of mattered.
SPEAKER_01You know, but I get what he's saying. Like, I'm not gonna full, I don't, I don't fully think you're wrong. I don't fully think he's right. I'm kind of in the middle. Yeah. And I'm like, yeah, you know, if that wasn't there, you don't lose anything. But if it was there, you know, it does explain why you got Sarah Michelle Geller using a gunpowder, HTTP.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, fuck it, yeah. I mean, I thought it was a dope addition. I thought it was like, hey, you know, I think that was like a dope stipulation. We're gonna like, dude, there was so many, like, let's we're gonna talk about the rules. These aren't spoilers, guys. These are just like basic. So the rules are you have to use the weapons that you when your family joined this cult or of world leaders, that you gotta choose the weapon. You gotta use a weapon that was that was around when your family was inducted. All right, that's rule number one. The rule number two, you can't kill any other participants of the game. Like, you got the goal is to kill her, and that's it. You can't kill, like, me and John are competing, we can't kill each other. On purpose or accidental, that's my favorite rule. That's my like I ain't gonna lie, that was like my favorite rule, bro.
SPEAKER_01When it happened, and we'll talk about that in spoilers. When it happened, I was like, what?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it I think I think that was dope.
SPEAKER_01Um, uh Anthony, I do have a question since we're going down this path, because the rules lead into one of my favorite parts of this type of movie. How'd you feel about the Carnage Candy?
SPEAKER_00The what? The Carnage Candy. Oh man, I love the Carnage. Like Carnage, dude. I mean, it was it was just as bloody as the first, and I think that did not hurt the first movie, and it definitely didn't hurt this movie. Dude, I love, I love certain there's certain scenes we'll touch on in the spoilers, but I love, you know what I'm saying, the goriness and the brutality of this series.
SPEAKER_02I really do.
SPEAKER_01Also, man, I love how over the top it is. Like, it does not hold back, it doesn't try to be.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna I'm gonna allude to a scene. There was one scene, there's only one scene in here that was like, oh my, okay, enough. It's the hallway scene with her sister. Oh, that's yeah, man. I was like, well, dude. I'm like, hey, I felt like old buddy from Rocky IV. Throw in the damn towel. I was like, throw in the damn towel, man. Good God, bro. Oh my lord. And it's brutal.
SPEAKER_01His performance. Oh, no. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I forgot. Oh man, what's his name?
SPEAKER_01What's his name?
SPEAKER_00So in the spoilers, we're not gonna touch on kills. So we're alluded to them here. What did you think about the washroom? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That was my favorite one.
SPEAKER_00I was like, dude. We're not, we're not, we're not gonna, guys, just this is not spoilers. We're not gonna have to details. Yeah, we're not, yeah. They just but dude, I'm just saying. I was not expecting it to be that brutal. I was not expecting it to be oh my god, dude. That that was crazy.
SPEAKER_01I think there was also that little extra comedic edge with like their reaction.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And then, and then like the pe so like there's people actually watching it and like, yeah, that's crazy.
SPEAKER_01Oh, bro, you know what? I was also real caught off to see someone actually be bereaved in this movie. Yeah. I was like, what? You guys are in like the this crazy little cult here. You guys care?
SPEAKER_00I'm surprised. What? Who do you think are some like who you had to if you had to nominate one person as a standout of this movie, who do you think it would be? Performance-wise or like uh characters performance, character, whatever. You know, no matter.
SPEAKER_01Excluding Samara Weaving, because boy, they pulled some screams out of this woman.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Elijah Woods, man. I'm gonna tell you, my two favorite characters, I ain't gonna say characters, but my I think Sarah Michelle Geller and Elijah Wood were top-notch here. Really?
SPEAKER_01I mean, man, they were chewing up the scenery like they were just having blasts.
SPEAKER_00I mean, Sean, what is his name? Hadlesy, Hadsey. I know you're from circumstances. I like him in the pit in his character from the pit that here, you know what I'm saying? Like, and what's crazy, they're pulling all the teens. Like, this ain't Sean Hattlesey in Elijah Wood's first movie together. You know that, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they did the faculty together.
SPEAKER_00That's right. The faculty, bro, that's one of my favorite. I was gonna say, that's one of my favorite ones, bro.
SPEAKER_01I was like, I'll say a small disappointment with this movie. David Croderberg, I was like, oh, we're gonna get to see David Croterberg act, and he's in it for like five minutes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um question though, Anthony. Do you think the cast was a little overly bloated or no?
SPEAKER_00No, I think it it was the right proportion, especially for how they would execute the story. And because you had to feel the weight of this cult and you know, it's in the the the most word I'm looking for here. You had to feel the weight and like the the how populated this cult was, and you had to feel the magnitude of the stipulation of what every you know what I'm saying, like how what was really on the line here, you know? That's fair, that's fair.
SPEAKER_01Also, man, I gotta say, I and maybe I was just tripping, but like there was something also sick about seeing like Sam weaving in the dress again.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that, yeah, she and then like for her to put it back on, because it's all right, so you know, for her to put it back on, John, you know what I mean when I say that. Like, it's like it's just crazy, bro. It's crazy.
SPEAKER_01But because you know, like the extra is it obviously like we we know this as audience members, like she modified the dress, like she made it a little more combat oriented, we basically.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, dude. Alright, without without giving any spoilers, what was your favorite kill? I'll I'll say the washroom. The washroom. I'm gonna tell you, that was a good one. The most satisfying kill is the first shotgun.
SPEAKER_01Yes, it was it was I will that's probably like my two or three.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like that that that was so satisfying. I ain't gonna lie.
SPEAKER_01The washer just caught me so off guard. I was like, whoa!
SPEAKER_00I'm about to say, because the accident, the the accident kill was good, and then then the follow-up behind that one, that one was good too.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, that was that was a fun one. There's also one at the very end, which we'll get into in spoilers. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But wow. Yeah, this I mean, like, dude, this movie was I didn't expect, I thought I knew it was gonna be fun. I didn't expect to have as much fun as I did with this one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah and you know, man, like I think this is a good example of so I use a bit of a term and no, I don't mean it this way in like a derogatory sense. Sometimes you gotta have some good slop. And when I say good slop, I mean cut your brain off and enjoy it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, and then like the damn, I don't know, man. This movie is just like if you ask me, hey man, define this movie in like one word. I only work is like describe it as fun. Like, it's a good damn time at the movie theater, bro. It is, it's a real good time. This is something I can say about this movie than I couldn't say about Scream. Yeah, that's fair. That's that's a big one. And and I know you can't say this because you just watched Project Hail Mary. I haven't watched it yet. This is the best movie I've seen in 2026 outside of Hopper.
SPEAKER_02So far.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Hopper's really good. Hopper's really good. I I mean, this and Hopper are like neck and neck. And like, if you had to go like family-oriented, yes, hopper's. But this, in the theaters this year, I seen this, Bride, Hopper, and I seen Screen 7. Right now, this week, this right now, this is like neck and neck with Hopper. I don't know. If if I had to be, if I was like, all right, which one would I want to re-watch first, it'd be this one. Just because I'm a sick, I'm a sick son bitch. You know what I'm saying? I'm sick. I like seeing people in English, but can't wait to see Hopper again. Ain't you like you? Can't wait to see Hopper again.
SPEAKER_01Also, man, it was just like, again, like you said, man, so fun. Like, I get do you do you want to start transitioning into spoilers or yeah, we still got a little bit to talk about.
SPEAKER_00There's a big one we didn't uh we didn't address. What's that?
SPEAKER_02What'd you think of Catherine Newton? Oh, the sister? Yeah. I get why they put it here.
SPEAKER_00Wasn't really needed. What wasn't a bad, you know what I'm saying? It wasn't a bad edition. You know what I'm saying? Okay.
SPEAKER_01I was a little so one of my big achieves when it comes to uh when it comes to movies is family drama and high stress situations. I get you need it there for the plot. Yeah, but I mean but let's move. All right, I get it, you know, we're just stressed out.
SPEAKER_00No, yeah, but like here's my thing. We didn't need it, but it's there, and it doesn't hurt the story, it doesn't hurt the pacing. But the only thing is she's pretty much useless.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was my bigger issue. I was like, she didn't do anything, man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, she was pretty much useless. I wish they gave her more to do. You know, I wish that I really wish they gave her more to do. And outside of the outside of the baggage we all saw coming. You know what I'm saying? Towards the end. You know, you you knew what it you knew what she was there for. And I get and I get why she's there. So like I said, it doesn't hurt the movie, but it doesn't propel the movie forward at all.
SPEAKER_01That's so like I'm gonna be fair, guys. This is a knee pet peeve. Like, this is a John does not like this thing. So, like, that is a very John specific insult. But I will fully admit, anyone who watches this movie is probably gonna get the same feeling I did where I was like, man, this was a like, you know, I just I don't know. I I don't think Catherine Newton did a bad job. I just didn't I didn't love her specifically.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like she didn't do anything to make you like, damn, I'm glad she's here. You know, she was, I mean, you ever you ever you ever played? Yeah, no, not even that. You ever play a video game, you gotta keep somebody alive. And they're just there, yeah. But they don't do anything. I mean, like they'll they'll they'll do a little assist here or there, but they don't really do much. That's that was her role here.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she yeah, okay, that's fair. She is pretty pretty escort mission.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah, cuz I mean, one, she didn't want to be there anyway, so you know.
SPEAKER_01Also, I mean, I ain't gonna lie, low key.
SPEAKER_00In her defense, I'm not sure I would have stayed, but you know, but yeah, I mean they I mean, because honestly, if they didn't have her there, she Wouldn't have played anyway. That's fair. That's fair. She wouldn't uh so they needed some type of leverage. You know, they I mean they didn't I mean when I say they, I'm talking to people who wrote the book. You know, so like they needed some type of leverage because like you just went through hell for like 12 hours. Why why would you want to go through hell again? You know, you just like fucking do whatever you gotta do, you know?
SPEAKER_01So I'm not gonna lie, when that happened, I was like, man, that's that's tough.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But I mean, like, dude, like I said, I can't I can't glaze this movie anymore. I mean, I really had fun with this movie. This is a popcorn. When we talk about popcorn movies, like when we do our new, our next popcorn, I'm pretty sure this this series of not one of I gotta watch the first one again. I didn't even rewatch the first before I watched this one. But this is your definition of popcorn movie. This is the perfect, go see the movie with your friends, by yourself, with your with your significant other. This is the perfect date night movie. This is that type of movie, you know. Yeah, you're gonna have you're gonna have fun with this movie, man.
SPEAKER_01Also, like it's one of those things where you really just I mean, like when you're just in it and you're just having a fun time, right? Yeah, that's it. Like, this was exactly that. And and this was I'm I mean, you know, we could sit here and there are some nitpicks with it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, it's not no, don't get me wrong, it's not a perfect movie, okay? One thing I can say, this movie is I know we're like always talking about movies being, you know, like an hour and a half. This movie was not right under two hours, like an hour and 40 some minutes. Okay. So, I mean, hour and 48 minutes, and it didn't feel two hours. It didn't feel an hour and 45 minutes, a five hour. It felt like a great watch. It I didn't I had to pee for like the last 30 minutes. I know I said it before. And those weren't it wasn't an agonizing 30 minutes, you know. That's fair.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I mean, hey, that matters though, man. It does when you're when you're experiencing a movie like this. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I wasn't like, oh my god, I gotta go pick Harry up and in. No, I was I was there, like I was in into it. And and like I said, dude, I I can't give this movie much more praise, man. But uh, John, yes, what is your final score for Ready or Not 2? Here we come. Or here I come.
SPEAKER_01My my spoiler-free score, I am gonna go. Man, this is like a perfect, I think it's a perfect 7, 7.5. Really? Like, doesn't do anything wrong, doesn't do like I'm saying that 7.5 is like a good because I think to me, 7 is good. This is like a perfect 7.5 movie. Like, just cut your brain off and have a good time. That is this movie.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I'm giving it an 8. I'm giving it a solid 8. I think this is a fun time at the theater. You're gonna go. I went through a bucket of popcorn before I knew it. That's how good this is. Like, I would I went through a bucket of popcorn before I knew it, cut my brain off, enjoying this beat for beat. Like it is, it's I think it's not better than the original. I got the original like an I if I had to like originals like an 8.5, solely because original originality. This piggybacking off of that. And I feel like this doesn't do anything wrong. It doesn't do anything new. It it's a true blue sequel, and I got it at a solid eight. This this is this a much watch, is this a must-watch at the theater? I'd say no, but it would probably benefit you to go see it as I would I would advocate for you to go see it isn't theater. I think it's a fun theater experience. You know, I'm not gonna sit here and say, man, you gotta go see it. No, you ain't got to go see it. But watching, if you wait on streaming, that's cool. But if you need an excuse to go to the movies, this is a good excuse to go to the movies.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's that's kind of where I was at with it. I was like, to me, this was just a fun time and I enjoyed it, and you know, I'm not mad at it.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm not either. I mean, I think it's a good, I mean, let me see. What is Rock Tomatoes have it in? Like it said, it has a 75, it has a 75 critic, which is expected, and it has a 90 fan.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I man, I've I'm still confident with my answer. I'm not mad at I'm not mad at what I said. I'm really not. I think 7.58 is like Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's like perfect, man.
SPEAKER_00I mean this is a perfect sequel. It is. I'm not gonna lie to you. Like it this is like if you had to listen, if you had to draw up a sequel, this would be that. And then, okay, so and then what's crazy is the original Ready or Not has an 89 critic, 78 fan score. Like I said, if you put, if you were, all right, I can't have this one higher than the original because I think the original is more original, you know? But if somebody said, hey, I like Ready or Not 2 more than Ready or Not 1, I can't be mad at you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, I was gonna say, I mean, I still enjoy the first one a little more. But like, it's not a big gap. I'm not No, it's not.
SPEAKER_00It's not, it's not that big of a gap. But yeah, man, I really do think this is a true blue sequel, man. Like I said, guys, if you you need if you need to go see it. I really do. I really think you do.
SPEAKER_01I thought it was funny how you were like, man, this is not a must-see at the theaters, and then you were like, it's a must-see at the theaters.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, I'll get it. I mean, no, no, I'm I'm not saying it's a must-see at the theaters. I'm just simply saying, if you need an excuse to go to the movies, I think going to the movies does enhance this thing, does enhance this movie. And I'm not saying it, like, it's not a center's where you have to see this in the theaters. Like, oh my god, you need that theater experience. If you need an, like I said, I'll say it again, and I'll leave it alone. If you need an excuse to go to the movies, this is a fun excuse to go. Now, it's nothing like Project Hail Mary. I'm pretty sure you need to see that in theaters. Like, you must experience that in theaters.
SPEAKER_01You know what I'm saying? Anthony, when you go see it, man, I I'm seeing it iMac, so when I go see it. I don't know if you I'm so excited. I got to see it in uh XL.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And it would.
SPEAKER_00I'll I'll tell you guys later. Yeah. All right. So anyway, guys, this is the part where we're about to get into spoilers. So if you don't want us to ruin Reddit or not to for you, just skip ahead, catch the ending. You know, and we normally do. And but uh, but yeah, you have been to Aurora. And John, give me a nice solid three count. And you guys go ahead and skip to the end. We we appreciate you guys joining us again. And yeah, that's that. So uh, John, have at it, brother. Count us down. Three, two, one.
SPEAKER_01All right, spoilers are over. Let's go into it.
SPEAKER_00Activate spoilers. But uh, yeah, man, dude. This movie is crazy. I I don't I gotta go back and watch the first one to see how graphic it is. Like, I I can't remember the kills in the first one. I gotta go. So I am gonna rewatch the first one.
SPEAKER_01I don't remember the first one being this graphic.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I mean, I I'm pretty sure it was. Her dress is soaking blood. Yeah, but then she talks about the family blowing up on her. Yeah, but dude, the fucking old buddy, what's his name? He's in fucking everything. I mean, he's not in everything, but the dude that died in the damn hospital. Oh. Oh, I know his name. This is fucking because he's in uh Duran. Kevin Durant. There we go. Yeah, but but anyway, you needed that, you needed that kill, and the way they explain it is so dope. Like, it's just a little throwaway line. It like how nonchalant these people are with death. But you needed the reason you needed that death is so her sister believed her.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that that was nice that we didn't have to spend 30 minutes of her being like, I don't believe you. This is a lie. That that I really appreciated.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because once we got there, I was like, man, does this feel like it's that that's a big thing for me. I hate reinstated exposition on things we already know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And and then, like, dude, this movie doesn't hold your hand. It expects you to know what happened in the first movie.
SPEAKER_01They give you a little, a little bit in the very, very beginning.
SPEAKER_00I mean, they give you a taste, but like they give you a little taste of like, but it's not like the whole thing, you know what I'm saying? But I mean, I tell you what though, that damn that propane scene, that propane scene where he thought he knocked off old buddy and then had to pull off out the shards out her arm.
SPEAKER_01For me, I was like, oh, I'm stressed out now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, where they had to pull the shards out her arm. Like, yeah, that's that was crazy.
SPEAKER_01I dude, that one or I don't I think she was pulling out like like a cricket peg or something. Uh but when she pulls out like the stake from her shoulder.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yes. That I was like, dude, she wouldn't she I think she went through way much more worse at this point.
SPEAKER_01Dude, she is she is and I mean part of it is she was still kind of hurt, like yeah.
SPEAKER_00But then she is she is becoming you know the damn horror version of Bruce Willis.
SPEAKER_01Ah, man, and dude, like when I said they pulled some screams out of Samora Weaving, they pulled some screams out of this woman, bro. It's crazy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was it's very crazy, dude. Damn, I'm gonna tell you the biggest thing. I wish we had more of a spiritual element, kind of. I don't know. I was hoping they lean more into that in this one, but I mean, I'll take it. You know what I'm saying? I'll take whatever I can.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I I I can kind of see where you're coming from because that like the devil cult isn't, you know, like we know now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like it's not. Mr. Leboe. I want to see more of Mr. Lebow. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, aka Elijah Woods himself.
SPEAKER_02Who is your favorite douchebag of the cult?
SPEAKER_00That isn't Elijah Wood or Sarah Michelle Gaylor.
SPEAKER_01I'm not gonna lie, man. I thought the one Middle Eastern dude was pretty funny.
SPEAKER_00Oh, the young. I was literally, that's my that's why I was that's my go-four. Yeah, bro, he was so funny.
SPEAKER_01I like that he sees his brother get got and he's like, do I have to?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's it. That shit was funny. I like him and I like the Asian kid.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he was funny too. What's the wife?
SPEAKER_00So clueless, bro. I can't even look at that. Yeah, that shit's crazy. But uh, but yeah, man. Damn, what I tell you, man, this movie caught me off guard with how fun it was. It's it's ridiculously fun. Now, I mean, like, I keep I know I keep saying that, and like Anthony, you can't keep saying, dude, this movie is a damn good time, man. I don't know, John. Damn.
SPEAKER_01I think it was ridiculously fun. Like, I think it does deserve the praise. Because, and you and we have talked about this, where it's like, I enjoy a movie I don't have to think about.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but dude, that damn hallway scene where he's beating the shit out of her, though. Boy, good God, bro.
SPEAKER_01I was like, I was like, a tap, like just give up.
SPEAKER_00Dude, I'm telling you, boy, like, I ain't gonna lie, I that small character development of his character from the beginning all the way to the end. It's like, damn, because you thought he was the weaker one. You know what I'm saying? You thought he was the weaker one. And like I said, I'm not I'm not fully going into who it is because I still want to leave a little, you know what I'm saying, stuff out of it a little, a little bit for him. Yeah. But but yeah, man, now I thought he was the weaker one out of it. I thought it was gonna be his sister, and now, nah, bro, this dude's a fucking monster, bro.
SPEAKER_01And dude, I don't know if it was just the sound design or the way they like put it, but boy, there were a couple punches where I was like, I felt that. Yeah, they had some weight. Yeah, they had some fucking weight. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they had some weight to him. But yeah, man, I mean, I I do wish they were a little bit more like death. I feel like this, like, so have you ever watched The Hunt? The movie called The Hunt.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, yeah. The it's the propaganda one, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. I felt like this dipped into the hunt territory.
SPEAKER_01I'd agree with that. It kind of like it started throwing out a little uh not, it's it's less political and it's more esoteric.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. But like I just felt like this trotten on a little bit of hunt territory. Especially with you know, being out in the open, trying to find a place to hide. It's literally, it's literally die hard meets the hunt, it's fucking devil the Blair Witch Project type shit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, dude, I think it was just a little bit.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna say the comed so much comedic gold came from Elijah Wood. It just is crazy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, uh dude, honestly, he wasn't just like oh, I like when he popped up, I was very entertained, like you know, I think you could tell that this was a role that he was just like, screw it, I'm gonna have fun with it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And oh, so oh go ahead, go ahead. Have you watched I Know What You Did Last Summer Yet? No, I've Oh my God, man. Come on, man. We gotta I because I want to make a reference here. Oh fucking, I'm gonna spoil it for you. You don't care. Do you care? Uh now now I want now I don't want it spoiled. Motherfucker, man. Listen, I need to talk about this because it ties into this. You know what's funny?
SPEAKER_01I remember I was like on my lunch break and I was like, ain't he told me to watch a movie? I was supposed to watch a movie, and I meant to text you, and then I had to go back in, and I was like, what movie was it that he wanted me to watch?
SPEAKER_00It's literally on Netflix, bro. Because it ties into this and it ties into Scream 7. Oh man, that's funny. That's funny. Yeah, because like I got I got I'm gonna make the parallel anyway. I'm sorry, you're just gonna have to deal with it. You're never gonna watch the movie. How about that? I'll watch it. I just so okay. There's no there's no there's no like what I'm looking for, you know, the the word, the plot twist, right? There's no plot twist in this movie, right?
SPEAKER_01But that's nice. That's nice.
SPEAKER_00All right. There's a plot twist in I Know What You Did Last Summer that makes parallels. You know what I'm saying? That I can make a parallel to. Has nothing to do with this movie, it's just making a parallel. But let's just say there's something that happens in I Know What You Did Last Summer that Fuck it, I'm not gonna spoil it. Anyway, there's something that happens when you see it, you're gonna be like, oh, I get it now. All right. But anyway, Share Michelle Gell, Sarah Michelle Geller as a bad per bad guy, so refreshing, right?
SPEAKER_01Wait, but I was looking at, I'm like, Daphne, what happened? What did you and Fred go through?
SPEAKER_00I'm telling you, like, dude, and then like, man, it's just, I love the weight of these people having the world in their palms. Like, whoever wins, you get the world in your palm. Like, it's like, damn, how the hell did this shit, you know, gets like the stakes get this high, you know what I mean? Also, am I tripping?
SPEAKER_01This is like a little just nitpick. Did you think the ring? I was like, man, for for like such a big deal, I feel like that ring's like real regular. I supposed to be, man. It's it's ancient. I know. I was just like, man, I don't know. I felt like the demon cult special ring should have been a little Demon Cult?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but it's too on the nose, man. It's gotta be, you know what I mean, something something, something small, man. Something like not so obscure, you know what I mean? No, 100%. Or exaggerated. But yeah, man, nah, damn, I really I'm trying not to spoil too much here. Even though this is the spoiler section of the day, I'll probably it's just mainly us having a conversation, you know what I mean, without having to be so careful about what we talk about.
SPEAKER_01Question on your end, though, since we're going down this route. What's up? What did you think of the climax?
SPEAKER_02Honestly.
SPEAKER_00I feel like it could have been more. But I'll take it. I feel like I feel like it was is it's it's just enough. You know, it was just enough, you know what I mean.
SPEAKER_02I guess it was to me, I was like, wow.
SPEAKER_00Like I mean, and I think the overall thing is like greed never wins. That's what I got from it. Like being greedy never wins, you know. No, no, 100%.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I g I guess my thing was like, I thought it was interesting that because obviously, like, you know, a b a big thing with this whole franchise is uh a monkey's paw, right? It is a maybe, maybe an area you don't need to play with, guys.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And and like, man, this just I don't know, man. The damn I okay. Do you think there'd be a part three?
SPEAKER_01There could be.
SPEAKER_00I don't know if I need it. I don't think we need it. I think this is what I think this is one of those ones where you can just get two movies in your bond. You know, I think two movies. I'm cool with it being two movies. This is like a I feel like it's a good ending. If if you do do another one, it can't have Samara Weaving in it. Like what it can't star Samara Weaving.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I agree with that. I agree with that.
SPEAKER_00You can't star Samara Weaving. You have to do something totally original. And but yeah, I did. I think I think you could build off. Now, where I will be surprised if we go watch They Will Kill You and this tight end of this, like I think that'd be dope, but uh that that would be sick.
SPEAKER_01I'd be super down for that. Um also, you know, the set design in this movie, I really enjoyed. Like, even when it was just the big open field or like a standard bar.
SPEAKER_00I mean, uh this one is a lot brighter than the original. Oh, I knew I was gonna ask you. Pepper, the pepper spray scene.
SPEAKER_01Oh, dude, that I'm so glad you brought that up. That fight was so funny. I was laughing the whole time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was so funny, bro.
SPEAKER_01I think Anthony, have you ever been pepper sprayed or like had like accidentally got pepper sprayed in your eyes?
SPEAKER_00I've been around, I've been, I've been around people who sprayed pepper spray, and I could just tell you this shit is not pleasant. And I've got like spicy shit in my eye. I dude, I would never want to voluntarily be pepper sprayed. That shit, dude, when I tell you that that fight was so comedic and brutal. Like the little bit of brutality we got in it, but dude, like, I don't know. When I seen her, I'm gonna tell you, my oh shit moment is when I seen her, where they said that they got her sister and whatever, and she went and got that fucking shotgun, bro. Bam.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I was like, oh, yeah. That's how we're playing. I mean, I get it, but like, that's how we're playing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like, dude, I was so happy to see that. Yeah. I just wish it was war brutality with the owl scene.
SPEAKER_01Dude, and man, like, I also a little that this is I'm gonna go a little hard on the spoiler here, guys. So but still try and keep it kind of vague. The ending, and I really liked the technicality. Oh yeah. I was like, that's a very interesting way.
SPEAKER_00They laid the the blueprint down from the rip, and I like that. Like they like, you know, this right here, this stipulation right here, and she doesn't use it. And then right before everything goes down, this stipulation right here, and they pair well. You know what I'm saying? It paired so well. You get what I'm saying? That they use, and I think they used it very well towards the end.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like I was just really like, so when it got there, like when we got to that scene, I was like, how is she gonna get out of this? Like, I was trying to put the puzzle together, and then when she does it, you were just a little too close to it.
SPEAKER_00You were just a little too close to it, brother. Yeah, yeah, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Yeah, you were just a little too close to it. Yeah, I I seen it coming like a like my own way, bro. I ain't gonna lie. I ain't trying to make myself see, I mean you were just a little too close.
SPEAKER_01Oh, oh, oh, yeah Oh, I thought you were talking about the spoiler getting a little too close to it. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, no. You were just too close to the puzzle, is what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, yeah, no, no, yeah.
SPEAKER_00You're just too close to the puzzle, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because that was my guess. Like, when she does it, I was like, is it is it gonna be something simple? Because that's what I said to myself.
SPEAKER_00I was like, I knew when they when the signatures got signed, I knew what was gonna happen. When she got turned up in that situation with her back against the wall, I knew it was gonna happen in that situation. Because you only got one hour, bro. You only got one hour.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, man, it was this movie like just so fun, man.
SPEAKER_00I'm telling you, I can't wait to watch it again. I'm being real, I cannot wait to watch this shit again. I watched the first one multiple times, so I I'm I can't. You know, hey, so before we leave, what movie do you want to see a sequel to? Like, super undercut, gotta be within the last 10, 10, 10, 10 to 5, 5 to 10 years. Say five to ten years. What movie, like, Blue One of the Radar, I got mine. So what movie would you want to see a sequel to before we get out of here?
SPEAKER_01Uh go go first, and then I'll I'll I think I got one.
SPEAKER_00I want a sequel to upgrade.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. Upgrade, upgrade is a good one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I want a sequel to upgrade. I want a sequel, like, it didn't gotta be him. You know, it didn't gotta be. I'll just want a sequel to upgrade.
SPEAKER_01Well, I was I was about to say Evil Dead, but we're getting Evil Dead burns, baby. Yeah, yeah. We're getting Evil Dead. You know, maybe a bit of like an audible pull here, but we'd like to see another. Oh man, I literally just had it. I'm sorry, guys. Another, like, ready or not style movie, not necessarily ready or not, if that makes sense.
SPEAKER_00Which we're we're about to get. I'm about to say, yeah, we're about to get that in like a couple days, John. All right, fair, fair. But but guys, this is even though this has been a little shorter than our traditional hour, I mean, we we're covering a sequel, guys, that, you know, not a lot of people really, you know what I'm saying, give a lot of love to. I mean, but uh, but yeah, I hope you guys enjoyed this episode, and thank you again for joining us. This has been another edition of One Take Real Talk, and it was all in one take. One shot. Keep it real, keep it real. Peace. Peace.
