What's going on, guys? I am the Black Sheep Anthony C, and I am Big John V from South Carolina all the way to the Cush Hills of Cali. This is special 420 edition of One Take, Real Talk on the movies, the games, and the police code pop culture. So you missed it, man. You could have said pot culture. See, you messed up the whole thing. Anyway, guys, if you haven't guessed it, us dropping today of all days, we are celebrating 420, guys. Give it up 420. October 14th. Yeah, if you say so. But yeah, man, we're here. We're gonna, and we me and John, we were racking our brains like, what can we do to celebrate 420? Not only are we not dropping this episode on a Wednesday, we're dropping it directly on 420 for a spec, you know what I mean, special day. You gotta drop it on 420, correct, John? Of course. All right. So me and John decide to go back to our roots. What made this podcast this podcast? Outside of movie reviews, you guys are regulars, you know we love a good list, especially when you're on the list of police file codes for a 420. But yeah, guys, so we're gonna give you our top 10. Count them, 10, 5 a piece, five from John, five from me. 24. Yes. We're giving you our top 10 stoner movies. Sounds good to me. So John's gonna come with five. I'm gonna come with five. We're gonna debate, we're gonna talk, we're gonna reminisce, and yeah. And then what we're gonna do is once the list has been compiled, we're gonna go back, look at the list, and we're gonna rank it. Sounds good to me. Well, John, what do you have at number 10?
SPEAKER_02Okay. Can I tell you what I originally had and then what I had now?
SPEAKER_00What do you I mean, you can tell me what you got at your number five spot. Okay.
SPEAKER_02So right now, I've got the one, the only fast time at Richmouth High.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02But I originally had Bill and Ted's bogus journey, but it took it out because it's not really a stoner movie.
SPEAKER_00I mean, they're stoned, but they don't actually, you don't see them get high.
SPEAKER_02They don't actually get high. They're Scooby-Doo. It's all implied.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02So are you cool with that? And do you want to go higher? No, no.
SPEAKER_00No, we're gonna drop them in at where they are right now. Okay, okay. Yeah, we're just we're gonna drop it in at where it's at right now.
SPEAKER_02I mean, we're just showed up, Johnny. Like, this movie's like it's the big Lebowski before the big Lebowski, if that makes sense, right? I got you. It's fun, it's got that goofy edge to it, like this is early Sean Penn, like yeah.
SPEAKER_00I got you. Ain't nothing wrong with it. I mean, I I've only seen the movie like once or twice. I think I I do I do need to revisit this movie. I see the box art in my head all the time. When I think Sean Penn, you know, but as far as uh stoner movies, this isn't my OG. I know this is debatably a lot of people's favorite OG Stoner movie. But at the number nine is my favorite OG Stoner movie, and I'm gonna slide it to you then. Yeah. At the number nine spot, I have none other than the godfathers of Stoner movies. And it could easily be number one, but I'm gonna put it at number nine because I mean I got introduced to this movie a little later. It doesn't mean as much to me. And I'm going with Chi Chen Chong up in smoke. Ikiramba, ochi ochi, my soul.
SPEAKER_02Why you say that? This is an this is a big boy for me. I feel like this one needs to go higher. I understand.
SPEAKER_00I mean, hey, hey, hey, like I said, we could discuss that later. Let's talk about this movie though. Go for it. Nah, man. I love this movie. I love, I mean, the first half of this movie is just so quotable, so fun. I mean, all the way until they go to Mexico. I mean, I feel like this movie is like hysterical. You just like go ahead.
SPEAKER_02The things they say, bro. I'm like, how'd you come up with that?
SPEAKER_00Like, yeah, dude. Damn. He's like, you got he's like, oh, you don't mind the little speed, man. You got some speed, man. Oh man. I'm telling you, dude. What we're smoking a dog third, man? He said, he said, yeah, man. I had to follow my dog around about a week to get my stash back. We smoking dog shit, man. I'm telling you, dude, I I love this movie, dude. I do. It's just a little lower on my list than a lot of a lot of these other movies I have. I mean, not saying this is the OG. Like I said, easily could be number one. Easily could be number one. Yeah, this is this is the OG of OGs. For me. For me. Like I said, this is the one, like, dude, even stuff that isn't stoner related. I mean, like when his dad is talking to him, he's like, he said, damn, you know, you can you can work your way up to these goddamn bananas. You know what I'm saying? When, boy, when are you gonna get your shit together? I I love that whole bit. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_02He's just going through life in unfazed.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I did. I love it, man. That movie is by far one of my favorites. It it's it's a it's a funny movie. You got the Ajax scene, dude. If you if you call yourself a stoner, hell, if you call yourself a comedy-loving person, and you haven't seen this movie, you're doing yourself such a disservice, man. This movie Up in smoke. This movie is up here with a lot of other It's up in smoke. Yeah, yeah, dude. I mean, but like that, I mean, up, I mean, just even the songs. You got Up in Smoke, you got We've Been Framed, you got Mexican Americans. That's where this shit comes, that shit comes from. I I love bro, Mexican American. Yeah, I mean, like, dude, this this this this shit is so iconic. I mean, like, dude, uh Low Rider got, I mean, I know Lowrider from this movie and George Lopez, of course, but like this is like one of the earliest, I ain't gonna say I know it from this movie. This is one of the earliest media mediums that I heard that song in. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02In this context, too. Low R. Budda.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but like, like, dude, it's literally the first thing that I could think that it the movie was in. I mean, the song was in. But but yeah, man, John, you got anything else you want to say about Up and Smoke?
SPEAKER_02It's hilarious. I mean, you got the majority of what I would have said. Uh, it's just movie's a blast. And if you haven't done it, I think like you said if you are uh you know a comedy fan, if you haven't seen it, watch it. Exactly. I'm gonna go the extra mile. I think if you're a movie fan and haven't seen it, you're doing yourself a disservice.
SPEAKER_00This is uh this is true, man. I mean, because this one, their next movie. I love the next movie, but like I said, that that's neither here nor there. But guys, teaching song up in smoke right now, sitting at number nine.
SPEAKER_02Alrighty. So I got at number eight, another one that could be argued for number one. And I guess we were on the same wavelength here, Anthony. Okay. Because uh this is one that I saw later in life as well, and I respect it. I think it deserves a lot of the love it gets. I already know what it is.
SPEAKER_03It's not not my personal favorite.
SPEAKER_00I know what it is.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, up in smoke.
SPEAKER_00You hear me? I know what it is, and I tell you what it is. Do you think you know? Yeah, I think I know what it is.
SPEAKER_03Go ahead.
SPEAKER_00All right, all right, all right. Oh no, it's uh it's Friday. It's Friday. Dude, get out of my face. On a dazed and confused day. Yeah, that's I thought.
SPEAKER_02I thought I had you there, man.
SPEAKER_00Nah, yeah, it's like, no, bro, dude, don't touch that one. Yeah, I mean, I knew you had Daisy and Confused, dude. Days and Fuse when you talk about something that could be number one, it's definitely Daisy Confused.
SPEAKER_02Like, and it does deserve all of the love that it gets, and I and I get why people love it, and and I do think it is like I do truly think it's great. It's like I said, man, just saw it later.
SPEAKER_00Like, yeah. And and and I'm and this is another movie that I've only seen like once or twice, and I get the appeal, and I get, you know what I'm saying, the acclaim. It's like I said, it's not one of my it's not one of my personal players. Like, I hate to say it, it's a little lower on my list.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, yeah, I'd be honestly, I could have gone a little lower here too, if I'm being real with myself. Yeah. But I mean, like, even well, even, you know, some of the jokes are kind of dated. Like, when he hits you with that, like, you know what the best part about being in high school is?
SPEAKER_00No, you know what I love about teenage girls? High school girls, high school girls, high school girls.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, high school girls.
SPEAKER_00I keep getting older, I keep getting older.
SPEAKER_02They keep saying they stay the same age.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, man. I mean, like I said, but but the movie is is definitely dripped in nostalgia. It's it's definitely to me the breakout role for Matthew McConaughey.
SPEAKER_02You know, the most overrated actor of all time.
SPEAKER_00You don't believe that at all.
SPEAKER_02Also, guys, we can't tell. I'm just having some fun with the audience here.
SPEAKER_00But man, I mean, I'll I'll I like Days to Confuse, I really do.
SPEAKER_03Like I said, respect it.
SPEAKER_00I felt like I needed to give it a spot.
SPEAKER_02It wasn't gonna be high on the list.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I got you, I got you. Ain't nothing wrong with that. But yeah, man, if you ain't got nothing else to say about it. I mean, I I mean, I get it. I I I respect the pick, but uh I think I'm ready for my number seven. Go for it, go for it. So for my number seven is my under. To me, it's a I'm torn between two movies here. One is both of them I think are really underrated. I think are really, really underrated. Need a little bit more love from the stoner community. One is underrated more than the other. So I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna do like this. I'm gonna let you pick which what goes here without knowing what goes here. So I'm gonna put one movie in my left hand, and I'm gonna put one movie in my right hand. Can I get like a one-word hint for each? No, no, no. I'm just that's all you're gonna get. Left hand or right hand. They're they're legitimate. This man can't decide. That's a big dead serious because they're touring between both. I will let you know what movie got left behind. So left hand or right hand, John.
SPEAKER_02Well, I'm gonna go with my gut here. So tales never fail, so give me that left hand.
SPEAKER_00Left hand, you pick grandma's boy. What? Grandma's boy. You never seen Grandma's Boy? Bro. All right, so Grandma's Boy is a Happy Madison production. It's it's a very, like I said, it has Doris Roberts. You remember Doris Roberts from Everybody Loves Raymond? Yeah. Yeah. It's she's in it. You remember, you know, Alan uh Covert. He's one of he plays in every Adam Seller movie from the early 2000s. He was Alan Kovert. Kovert. He played, remember um, the the the big dude, right? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. All right. He played in Wedding Singer. He he he was the dude. You remember, what's my shit? Mr. Deeds. Remember Mr. Deeds? Yeah. All right. You know the guy that was in love with Renona White Ryder that worked with her?
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he he stars in this. He remember he played, he played one of the gay guys in Big Daddy. No, I didn't know he had a name. I just thought that was like some AI-generated background. Nah, but dude is literally legit funny. He stars in this. This has, I'm gonna tell you, I'm gonna tell you what else, who's in it, who else is in this one? Linda Cardellini. Really? Yeah, she's in it. Pete Pete Dante. Yeah, I know you know Pete Dante from Adam Salman movies. He always plays the Stoner friend.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he always plays like the cruddy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Nick Swarson is in this one. Joel David Moore is in here. Jonah Heel. Rob Snyder. Rob Snyder makes a movie come out. Dude, David Spade plays a waiter at a fucking vegan place. Dude, I'm telling you, bro, this movie is damn awesome, bro. If you haven't seen this movie, I if you're this is like, listen, the movie doesn't necessarily revolve around weed, but weed is in the movie. And Doris Roberts gets high in this movie. Oh, that sounds hilarious. It is, bro. So, all right, let me give you the premise of the movie. We have a little time. So Alan gets evicted out of his out of his apartment because his partner, you know, the dude that always has the rusk, the raspy voice in the Adam Sandler movies? Like, not the one that plays Slink the Dog, the other guy. You know, Bobby, you, you, you say some weird stuff, but you're kind of cool. You know what I mean? You know that guy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00You know, but you know, he's always in Adam Sandler movies, too. He is Dante, he is his uh, he is his roommate, and he didn't pay the bills or whatever, and they get evicted. Rob Snyder plays their uh landlord and then kicks them out. So he starts trying to stay every other place, ends up moving back in with his grandmother, Doris Roberts, who lives with her two roommates. By day, he's a video game developer. Okay Yeah. Jonah Hill, Nick Swanson, all of them are video game developers. And I'm telling you, it's funny as hell, bro. It's a great movie. I I stumbled across this movie at like, you know, you see the $5 bins or you get your local movie theater, you know what I'm saying? Like movie supplier or whatever.
SPEAKER_02It's not like an Animal House logo going on.
SPEAKER_00I just looked it up. When I tell you, man, you should watch this movie and thank me later. It's funny. It's funny, bro. I'll tell you. It's funny, bro. You should check this movie out. I promise you. It's by far six? Man, I'm yeah, yeah, dude. I'm telling you, it's a very funny movie. It's the con the pot comedy in it is really good. Oh, yeah. Dante plays a pot dealer. The name Dante. I'm telling you, it's funny as hell, bro. I promise you. Dude gets a damn, dude gets a fucking uh monkey, teaches it damn Kong Fu, all kinds of baby Jonah Hill. Yeah, baby Jonah Hill, bro. This is pre super bad. Oh. Super bad, like 2007? Yeah, this is pre-super bad. Shirley Jones is one of the older ladies in this one. Like, you know, Oklahoma. I mean, you know, she's one of the older ladies in here. Cheryl Knight. I don't know if y'all guys know who Cheryl Knight is. She played in As Good As It Gets with Jack Nicholson. But yeah, man. I mean, I know you know um this African dude, man. Yeah, yeah. I think I got I got the casting boy here. Yeah, dude. Let's tell you, dude. It's a dope cast for a small movie. It's only like an hour and a half. I have fun with this movie every time I watch it. Like dead series. But uh, the movie that you left behind that you didn't pick, and this is why I was torn, because it's my matter of fact, I still might put it on here. I'm gonna shut up. That's what I'm gonna do. Because I know you're gonna pick at least one or two of these. So I'm gonna I might set up and put it on here. What is what is your number six movie, John?
SPEAKER_03Well, of course, the truest stoner comedy of all time. Scooby-doo. Damn, guys, you know, like I come up with all these great fucking jokes.
SPEAKER_02He never fucking laughs. You gotta be funny for me to laugh, dude. I want every good joke that you guys hear me say that he doesn't laugh at, I want them in the comments.
SPEAKER_00Hey, when he tells a good joke, I'll laugh. I laugh on this show. I laugh a lot on this show. But but yeah, man, what's your number, what's your number six?
SPEAKER_03All right, I got the big Lebowski. The Cohen Brothers. Stoner comedy.
SPEAKER_00Well, let me ask you a question. How much weed is in this? I don't know. There's a little bit. As I said, like, oh, I wouldn't conf I wouldn't.
SPEAKER_02It's classified when I when I was doing research for this, it is classified under stoner comedy.
SPEAKER_00I wouldn't consider it a stoner stoner comedy. But I mean, you just listen, listen, you no, no, no, you put what you want. This is your this is a blend of both lists, but just know it might not get too high once we re-ranked. But go ahead, man. I I mean the Beat Labosica is a good movie. I like the Big Lebowski. I would say it's more of a crumboling comedy. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Cohen Brothers' best movie, including Old Brother We're Arthur.
SPEAKER_00No, it's not. It's not even close. Fargo is Fargo is this, Old Brother World is this, yeah. It's not even nowhere near it, near as funny as O'Brother We're out there. Or nearly, or nearly smartly written as O'Brother We're out there. But go ahead.
SPEAKER_02But look, this was just like it's a movie that like has a lot of texture.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Also just I mean, so um.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, this is Jeff Bridges in the most non-Joff Bridges role. And I like it. I mean, like I said, I like the movie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Jeff Bridges is usually like, I don't want to say clean cut, but like a little more together than this. Yeah. He's the most just unorthodox, shlub, you know, couch potato humor. Like him and Steve Buscemi is sort of dawgy, like, so funny, man. John man, John Goodman legitimately, and I do not mean this as a joke, top three roles in his career. It's so fun. And like you're right, maybe it's not like the first thing you think of when you go like stoner comedy. But it's hilarious. There's so much about it that you just forget about. You know, and then again, with stuff like the bowling ball and everybody loves him, like using little little cloth he uses. I love like the milk in the jar. Like, it's so funny, dude. And then Julianne Moore is in this, like, I always forget Philip Philipsy more often in this movie. Like, it is a blast. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, like I said, I I like the movie. I th I think John Goodman is the standout in this movie.
SPEAKER_02I'm agree with his roles. I do not think that as a joke.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think him and what's my boy John Totoro. I think that's who it is, right? Oh, yeah. What's his name? Uh, from the Batman movie. Yeah, from uh Old Brother Wild Down, too.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I forget. What's what's the one? Yeah, John Totoro.
SPEAKER_00John Totoro. John Totoro. He plays it's not Falcone, I believe. He plays Falcone. There we go, yeah, Falcone. There we go. Yeah, I believe he plays Falcone. But yeah, John Totoro. I think him and him and I think they do, they give a bang up supporting Cass job.
SPEAKER_02If you want a real hot take, I think John Goodman and the Big Lebowski is better than him and Roseanne.
SPEAKER_00That's a hot take. But anyway. Yeah, man. I mean, that's I mean, it's a movie, it's a solid pick. I personally Personally, as a stoner comedy, I get it. It's a movie you would watch when you're stoned. But as a stoner comedy, I don't know. Like I said, I'm not saying it's not, but I just don't know. You get what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I get it. I get it.
SPEAKER_00But uh, we're cracking the top five here, man.
SPEAKER_02We are indeed cracking the top five.
SPEAKER_00So the movie that I got rid of, because I I think you might, I know you got one of these movies I have. I have one, two, three, four, six movies here. And I know you're gonna take at least one of them. I know I already know that because I got a text message.
SPEAKER_02So I fucked up, I accidentally sent it in my list. That was not intended.
SPEAKER_00I didn't read it. That's what I was saying. I just seen the first thing that came up. That's what I was saying. But but I mean, I I wanna put, I'm gonna be real with you. I want to put Pineapple Express here. I do. I love Pineapple Express. But the my Can I be real with you? Go ahead. Never finished it. Don't think it's funny. I mean, that's that's your opinion. But I'm not gonna put Pineapple Express here. Because I have a I have a stoner combo.
SPEAKER_03These last yeah, these last three that I have, they mean something to me.
SPEAKER_00You get what I'm saying? So, yeah, and Pineapple Express doesn't mean that much to me. So I'm gonna go with my first true love stoner comic. And it's none other, it's the one that did get didn't get picked by John. It was in my right hand, and I just can't let it go because I learned to handshake, did everything. I don't even know if you've seen this, John, but at number five, we got how high.
SPEAKER_03Isn't this the Marla Williams one?
SPEAKER_00No, this is Red Man Method Man. That's who it is. Oh, that's the okay, yeah, I know the premise. Yeah. Yeah, Red Man and Method Man go to college. It's just a dumb, fun premise that DC Youngfly and Lil Yachty should never try to recreate. But so for you guys who don't know, this movie is Red Man and Method Man's Buddy Stoner Comedy, and it's weed all the way through. And so these two guys, you know what I'm saying? One is a botanist, and the other one is just a deadbeat, and they go to take their uh THCs. Yes, you heard me right. The THC test to get in college. And Redman, I mean, Meth the Man's friend dies. And as he dies, he he grinds his ashes and puts it into a weed plant. Weed plant grows on the day of the THC. Him and Red Man get together and they don't know each other. But by one.
SPEAKER_02How does he die? Does he die from like a THC overdose?
SPEAKER_00No, so all right, so the guy has dreadlocks. He has his blonde date with his girl. So he so she wants to, she loves Kevin Costner. The girl loves Kevin Costner. And he goes to Metaman, who's a dealer, he says, Man, I just need something to make this shit interesting. And so he gives, Met the Man gives him some weed, you know what I mean? He's like, man, he said, you need to go ahead and get some THC, you can take the THC so you get into a four-year college. You know what I'm saying? He tells him, hey man, no matter if I set myself on fire and get hit by a bus, I got your back, dog. You know what I'm saying? He said, I got your back. The girl shows up, and this is old buddy because she don't like his dress. She's like, this is not, you know what I'm saying, what you look like in your picture. All right. He is, he smokes weed watching a variation of Field of Dreams. Falls asleep, the joint catches his hair on fire, catches him on fire, he falls out his window, gets hit by a bus, and dies. Oh, that's funny. Exactly. So, John, say something. That's funny. Yeah. All right. So I'm sorry, it was I muffled. No, no, no, no, no. But it kind of went out, but don't worry about it. So, Method Man grinds his ashes up, plant. Okay, we're back. All right, so outside of the office. I was so ready for you to say they smoked their his ashes up. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Let me get here. Oh, they smoke his asses. So, so they so met the man looking for a cigar don't have one. Redman's in his car. He loses his weed because he's trying to roll up on his dash and cuts the defrost on because he parted. So he loses his weed. They get together, you know, Reese's peanut butter style. Hey, you got blunt, got weed. They get together, put the blunt, put the weed in blunt, smoke it. So when they smoke old buddy's weed, he pops up in the backseat, and he ends up, has all the answers to every test they're gonna need. They score so good on the TAC, they they get to any college they want. They ultimately land on going to Harvard. Oh. Yes. So, John, I implore you, please watch. This is one of my favorite comments.
SPEAKER_02I know this movie. It's just been a real long time. I need to do that.
SPEAKER_00You don't know. You don't know this movie. No, man, because my cast is in it, great. You looked at the cast. I know this movie. I'm telling you. You don't know this movie. You don't know this movie, dude. I'm telling you, watch this movie. Listen, guys, if I didn't spoil anything, I just told you the beginning of this movie. I told you the first like five minutes of it. This movie is such a fun time. Cypress Hill is in it. Like, damn, there's there's so many, like, listen, there's so many damn tongue-in-cheek things in this in this movie. It's a fun time. Watch it. That's our number five pick right now. John, what is your number four pick?
SPEAKER_02Well, this is one that uh I wanted to fuck with you on earlier, but it is kind of a stoner classic. It's like a solid six, maybe six and a half out of ten, a little overrated. But definitely deserves the number four spot in uh Friday.
SPEAKER_00Well, you know I had Friday on my list, right? Oh. Yeah, but all right, but go ahead. It's on it's on this list, so that's all that matters. Only thing that matters is that I get to put another movie here. So go ahead.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I mean Friday is my third favorite.
SPEAKER_00And Friday's not overrated. Friday is not overrated. No, there was a joke.
SPEAKER_02I was being sarcastic.
SPEAKER_00I don't know, man. You you be a little pretentious sometimes. But you said, what about it being your what? It's your what? It's my number three. It's my number three. It's your third favorite stoner comedy. Yeah, it's my third favorite. Okay. I mean, I love prizes.
SPEAKER_03No, it's it's a blast.
SPEAKER_02Like, Smokey is obviously like probably the most iconic stoner character besides Chichin Chong.
SPEAKER_00He's one of them. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was like, I mean, I put him at three. I feel like if we were talking most iconic, like he's he's the only other one I'd name on that level. It's just like him and fucking ice cube have so much chemistry. This movie is so chaotic and so quotable. And I mean, I think we've all just been in that, man. You're having a shitty day. I guess uh your children listen to this, so I'm not gonna fully go into detail. You're having a shitty day, so you uh partake in some appetite-inducing substances.
SPEAKER_00I'm pretty sure my kids won't listen to this episode.
SPEAKER_03Okay, all right. Well, you know what? You get high. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And it's, I mean, like, man, like it's relatable to anyone who's been in that situation. I'm not sure if I'm gonna say it is Chris Tucker's best performance, but it's definitely his top three.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, oh.
SPEAKER_02Look, I'm not gonna say this is Chris Tucker's best performance, but it's definitely in his top three. Like, this and his little 90s roundup that he had with good old Jackie Chan and his also most underrated performance with Charlie Sheen and Money Talks, is just a blast. Like, you know, I love Debo as an antagonist. It's like, who the fuck is this guy? Like, he just shows up, beats the shit out of him. It's it's just a fun fucking movie, man.
SPEAKER_00You want me to tell you something? Yes. Out of the out of the Friday movies, I think this is the best movie, but I think two is the best stoner movie.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that's right. You told me you like two better, yeah.
SPEAKER_00No, I didn't say I like it better. I just think it's a the better stoner movie. Because they they only smokey smokes the whole time, yeah. But in the second one, you get I think two or three times where people get high. A dog gets high at the second.
SPEAKER_02I just remember the second one taking forever to get going. Like, it took forever to you.
SPEAKER_00Uh really, it gets going from the beginning. Like, Debo literally runs up on Craig at the beginning.
SPEAKER_02After he because he goes over to his house because he leaves Smoky's.
SPEAKER_00What are you talking about? Because Smokey's in in rehab. Yeah, but they he doesn't leave Smokey's house. He's literally looking for Craig. I think you should revisit these movies, bro. We established in Black History Month. You need to watch more black. I hey, I'm I'm just telling you, the second one wasn't fucking good while I watched it.
SPEAKER_02You said what? Second one wasn't that good when I watched it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because you you did watch it right, I guess. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but I watched it on HBO, so I think I watched like a censored version or something.
SPEAKER_00No, it should have been uncensored. I mean, it should have been the version.
SPEAKER_02Not like HBO Max, like literally like the HBO channel.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm saying it's shit it wasn't censored if it's HBO. Yeah, now if you watched it on like BTMTV or something like that, then it would be censored. But yeah. But no, I mean, I I think you picked the right choice, but I'm saying, like, as a stoner movie, I think the second one is a big, bigger stoner. You know what I'm saying? But yeah, what you prefer. No, it's just saying it's a better stoner movie, is all I'm saying.
SPEAKER_02No, you that's what I'm saying. I'm saying you think like this is what you would prefer. Like you'd prefer the second one as a stoner movie. That's what I'm saying. Yeah. But yeah, man.
SPEAKER_00What number round? Three? We are on trace. Well, since you took my number two, I gotta pick another movie. And I guess, man, I hate to do it, man.
SPEAKER_02This is only right because you took my number two.
SPEAKER_00Well, I hate to I hate to do it to you, man. But uh, I'm about to go ahead and go mark.
SPEAKER_02So you're you're a monster.
SPEAKER_00I'm sorry. I mean, like, that's all I I have that in my number one answer. That was my number one answer. I know, I'm just fucking with you. But uh, see the shit don't feel good, dude. That's great. I know, man. I'm going I'm going with dude, where's my car?
SPEAKER_03Good old Ashton Kutcher.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Matter of fact, matter of fact, no. I'm not. I'm not going with this.
SPEAKER_02If you put it on here, I have a funny story about it.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm going with this is the end.
SPEAKER_03Oh, the fucking trilogy one?
SPEAKER_00No, this is the end, dude. Seth Rogan, James Franco, Craig Robinson. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I know the movie.
SPEAKER_02I'm just, I thought it was part of a trilogy. Or no, I'm mixing it up. Um, end of the movie.
SPEAKER_00You know, you're thinking about at World's End, is what you're thinking about.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, at World's End.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's what I'm thinking of. This is like the third time you've done this.
SPEAKER_03Bro, they're the same movie, bro. They're not. They're not. They are. They're not. Continue. Continue.
SPEAKER_00But no, I mean, am I going with I don't know, man. You took my damn movie. So it's got me all off balance.
SPEAKER_03I'll tell you, you got me all off balance, man. Tip a damn movie. You know what would have been a great movie?
SPEAKER_02Or like a great movie scene.
SPEAKER_00What's that?
SPEAKER_02Driving your car in the middle of the street, you just got off work, you're coming home.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think I'm I think I'm just gonna go with Pineapple Express, man. Because I'm gonna tell you why. One, I'm not gonna take your pick. Two, this is the end, it's not a true stoner movie. I was that's where I was confused. I was like, man, really? There's weed in it. There's a lot of weed in it. I'm telling you, but it's just not a true because it's between, I'm gonna tell you like this. It's between Pineapple Express, Ted, or Jay and Solomon Bob Strikeback. And I'm gonna go with I wanna say Ted. Ted is just so fucking funny, but I gotta go with Pineapple Express. It's too iconic.
SPEAKER_03Okay, but I didn't take your number one, did I? I thought you were not.
SPEAKER_00No, you didn't take my number one.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00You took my number two. Oh, okay. Okay, okay, okay. That's why I was like, we still got two spots left. Yeah, you took my number two. So at number, at number three, I'm going with I'm going with Pineapple Express. I think, I mean, I wasn't gonna put it on. It's I have it higher on my personal list. You know what I'm saying? But like for this list, I wasn't gonna put it on here. But yeah, I think this movie made me a Danny McBride fan. I'm a huge Danny McBride fan. I think this movie, I mean, it involves it revolves around weed, dude. You got Rosie Perez, you got Seth Rogan, you got James Franco. We ain't gonna talk about Blake Lively. No, it ain't Blake Lively. Who is that in there? No, it's Amber Heard. Amber Heard, that's what it is.
SPEAKER_02I was like, what's wrong with Blake Lively?
SPEAKER_00That's what I meant to say. That's what I meant to say. Amber Heard. Amber Turd. Yeah, Amber Turd. You got Gary Cole in here, my boy Craig Robinson. I mean, it's a funny movie, man. Bill Hater at the beginning. Oh my god, dude. This is the BSDs.
SPEAKER_02You know, this is one of those movies that, okay, I I lied a little bit. I have seen this movie in its entirety, just never in one sitting. Okay. And you want to know where I've seen this movie? Just like it's kind of an ironic thing to it.
SPEAKER_00What's that?
SPEAKER_03At the gym.
SPEAKER_02Okay. They're always playing like prime time, like Comedy Central at my gym.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And yeah, this this movie's always on. So this is where I've seen it.
SPEAKER_03So every time I've seen it, I'm like, man. I don't know if I just outgrew this, but I don't think it's a funny. It's a funny movie, man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you just covered it. Yeah, you're not, dude. I'm telling you, dude. There's some funny movies here, especially from Craig Robinson. Craig Robinson walks in the house and puts his hands directly in food.
SPEAKER_02I do like James Franco in this movie.
SPEAKER_00Dude, James Franco? He's talking about some, he said, man, my car's dead. What do you mean the car is dead? Like, what the fuck do you think he means when he says the car is dead? Or I mean, even when he hits you with the like.
SPEAKER_01You know, dude, we're supposed to be friends, bro. Like, what was that, man? Like, yeah, he's kind of coming at him. I was like, what?
SPEAKER_00Denny McBride in in this movie is fucking crazy. Dude, that third act, though, that third act, bro, oh my god. You don't expect it. This is my fucking James Frankel walks down into the basement and says, El Dorado. Like, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_02It's, I mean, man, you know, like, look, and maybe if I watch it when I'm not covered in two pounds of sweat and walking up and down a treadmill or doing an elliptical mic, I'd probably appreciate it more. But man, I I'd be having a hard time enjoying this movie.
SPEAKER_00It's a fun time. I'm sorry. This is probably my my stoner comedy of the late 2000s, like almost 2010s era. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_02You know, this might be the most like diverse we've ever like divergent in a list that we've ever had.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So what do you got at number two? Oh, I already know. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_02Well, my my number one, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle. Yeah, it's fucking hilarious.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's my shit.
SPEAKER_02I ain't gonna lie. It's great. I love Cal Penn. I love John Cho. I love NTH. It is so funny. And ever, bro, if you've ever been up at 4 a.m., this movie is what this feels like.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. This movie has inspired so many munchie trips, dude. I'm telling you, this movie is the reason Jack in the Box has a munchie bill.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Have you ever heard you've had White Castle, right? Yes. I've had White Castle as of last year.
SPEAKER_00It's pretty mid. It's okay. I mean, I think it hits. I think it's okay. I think it's uh it's a good. You say, damn, Taco Bell's S tier. Your your information is invalid.
SPEAKER_02He also says McDonald's is S tier, so note that he does not get a silent slide on the side.
SPEAKER_00No, but say why I say McDonald's is S tier because of the consistency. It is not even consistent. It is consistent. It's more consistent than Taco Bell. No, man. Yes, man. We that's another argument for another day.
SPEAKER_03But we're getting on that.
SPEAKER_00Dude, I'm gonna tell you like this. White Castle is always fresh. Always fresh. When you get your burger and shit, it's always fresh. Even the frozen food is is is it tastes good. That's what I'm saying. So it's kind of hard to make a fucking frozen burger taste good.
SPEAKER_02So I went to White Castle for the first time. A little bit, a little bit, but it was very surreal because I've always wanted to go because of this movie.
SPEAKER_00And again, first time I went to White Castle, I took a picture. That's all I'm saying.
SPEAKER_02I also have a picture of my White Castle bag.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02But like, dude, just just waking up, being up at 4 a.m., waking up what it's like to want to go to the munchies, Calpin and his weird. He was in the White House? What? Like, and just you know, knowing that he also served on the Obama administration.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like somehow makes this movie funnier. I mean John Cho is just like him, and their chemistry is perfect.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I mean, solid number two pick, man. Solid number two pick. But my number one pick, I gotta go with none other than Half Vake.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that felt a little anticlimactic, I'm not gonna lie.
SPEAKER_00Dude, half vague is funny as shit. Dave Chappelle's in his bag. Like, dude, I'll I'd quote this movie countlessly. Like Lotter Mercy. He said simpsome sim. I'd be from Jamaica. Right near the beach. Boy. Come on, man. Yeah. You don't know this movie, do you? No, I don't have babies. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, dude. A bunch of friends trying to save their friend. I mean, dude, what what's more honorable than that?
SPEAKER_02I believe it was the second time I ever saw Clarence Willem William, actually.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02Now that I'm thinking about it. I think it is. I'm not 100% sure.
SPEAKER_00All right, John, did you write down this list that we have or no? I did indeed. Okay, where were we standing?
SPEAKER_02So, please understand, guys, it's gonna be a little we're we're, you know. Hey, just get to the list.
SPEAKER_00Get to the list, John. I'm kind of pressed.
SPEAKER_02Fast times at Reach Route High, number 10. Number nine, up in smoke. Number eight, dazed and confused, number seven, grandma's boy. Number six, the big Lebowski. Number five, How High. Number four, Friday. Number three, Pineapple Express. Number two, Harold's Kumar go to White Castle. Number one, half baked.
SPEAKER_00All right. So I believe Big Lebowski, because it has the least amount of weed, should be at number ten.
SPEAKER_02I think because I don't know Grandma's boy, it should be at number ten.
SPEAKER_00But Grandma's boy is a pot.
SPEAKER_02Can it go to number nine? Because up in smoke.
SPEAKER_00Okay, but we don't know the past time with that much weed in it either. Exactly. So what I'm saying is I would go with Up and Smoke should be in the top five. I'm doubting.
SPEAKER_02Up in Smoke should be number one. It's the number, it's the right answer.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I'm just saying it should be in the top five. And then Vic Lebowski should be about to hit Rich Mount High should be number nine. I would put Grandma's boy at. We put Richmount High at damn number ten? Yes. Alright. Grandma's boy at number eight.
SPEAKER_02Okay, wait. So up in smoke at number one.
SPEAKER_03I said number at top five. We didn't say number one. I'm putting it there as a placeholder. You said grandma's boy at number number nine?
SPEAKER_00Number eight. Number nine.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so hold up. Alright, let me.
SPEAKER_02That would bump Days the Confused up to number seven. Do you want to put Days Didn't Confused at like number five?
SPEAKER_00I don't think so. Depends on what's at number five. How high? It doesn't it doesn't be how high.
SPEAKER_02I mean I'm not I'm I'm not huge on where days to confuse goes.
SPEAKER_00Like as long as exactly that's what that's what I said. That's what I said. I don't it doesn't trump how high to me. Do you want Days to Confused at six? What I mean, you gotta read me the list where we're at right now.
SPEAKER_02Okay, all right. Let me we were going real fast. I was trying to keep it Yeah, yeah, you're good, you're good. Okay. Past times at Richmond High is number 10. Big Lebowski is number nine. Grandma's Boy is number eight. We have uh Days and Confused bumped up to number seven because we bumped Grandma's Boy down, and then we have number six is open because we put the big Lebowski at 10.
SPEAKER_00All right, so or nine. Hey, then we moved what's name up, so that would put let's put okay, so what's in our top five?
SPEAKER_02Friday, half bait, herald and placeholder. Yeah, I know I know that, but I'm talking about what's in front of uh but not counting it, it's half bait, Harold and Kumar, Pineapple Express, Friday, How High.
SPEAKER_00Let's put Pineapple Express at number six.
SPEAKER_02And then you want to do Daisy Confused at number five, or you want to do Daisy Confused number six?
SPEAKER_00I mean, you said you said what spot is open?
SPEAKER_02Daisy Confused is open to go to number six because grandma's boy went to number seven.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so wait a minute, hold on. You said we have one vacant spot. What spot is that? Okay. I'm gonna go 10.
SPEAKER_03Past times at Richmond High. Okay. Nine is the big Lebowski.
SPEAKER_02Eight is currently grandma's boy. Okay. Which then bumped the days to confuse to seven.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. That's what I was like. What are you talking about? Like you said six.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we have the big Lebowski, which is where Grandma's Boy went up to at six.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because we put the big Lebowski at ten.
SPEAKER_00All right. And then we put, but six is open, correct? So currently six is open.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00So hear me out. We take Pineapple Express at six.
SPEAKER_02You want Pineapple Express exist? And you want Days the Confused at seven? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I mean, I'm asking, is you cool with that?
SPEAKER_02I'm not uh like Days the Confused, I respect. I just don't think it needs to be in, you know, like bottom three territory.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm asking, do you is your fine with putting Pineapple Express at six and then seven? Yeah, yeah, I'm cool. I'm cool with that. All right.
SPEAKER_02Um, and then so Pineapple Express at six, which then current standing would be up in smoke at five, how high at four, Friday at three, Harold and Kumar at two, and half baked at one.
SPEAKER_00Friday half baked has to go at I think half baked goes at four, because how high is at five, right?
SPEAKER_02How high is at five, but then don't you want Friday?
SPEAKER_00Because Friday's what's for right now. Hold on. Let me let me let me let me quarterback this thing. Friday should be at two, up and smoke at one, Harold and Kumar at three, following and following. You feel what I'm saying? Have Beck at four, how how at five.
SPEAKER_02Can I get can I get Harold and Kumar at two since the majority of my movies went down?
SPEAKER_00But what is more iconic, Harold and Kumar Friday? Friday, all three of your movies are in the top, is in the top damn three. All my movies went down. What are you talking about?
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, you know, besides Big Lebowski and uh past times at Richard High, but that's okay. I guess you're right. You're right. That's fair. That's fair.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it's fair because all my movies went down. Yeah, you're right. You're right, you're right. Yeah, it's fair. Y'all hear that, right? It's fair because all my movies went down. Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_02Hey, hey, let it be known, guys.
SPEAKER_00I'm I'm always willing to compromise. Yeah, because he if when it comes to when you win, but when but when I I literally made this in a non-biased fashion.
SPEAKER_02Well, okay, I feel like if we're doing that, Daisy Confused has to go up. I don't think so. Daisy Infused is good where it's. All right, all right, all right, is more iconic than Harold and Kumar half baked and hell high. I think they all have to go down a spot. I don't think so. Because let's be real, Daisy Infused is like the stoner comedy.
SPEAKER_00Like, besides it and Friday. No, it's not, bro. Harold and Kumar has damn solidified itself. Half bake is fucking iconic.
SPEAKER_02But if you ask a normal person, half bake is a big one.
SPEAKER_00Okay, correct you. What you mean a normal person? Uh not movie buff, okay? Okay. But I'm saying the most iconic one. It depends on, it depends on that person. I know a lot of people who's never seen Days and Confused. You know why? You could quote all right, all right, alright. But they wouldn't, they would just know that's Matthew McConaughey. They wouldn't necessarily know that that Days and Confused. But there's not that for Days and Confused.
SPEAKER_02Please talk about that. I mean, not that for half big, I mean. Yes, there is. Like Harold the Kubar's gotta everything else has to go down a spot, and Days the Confused has to go to three. I don't think so. That's me being not biased.
SPEAKER_00I'm just saying, I don't think so, bro. Like, I really don't think so because Days and Confuse only appeals to a certain demographic. Good old 70s. Like, no, not even that. I'm just saying, okay, I'm gonna just say it. Days and Confused isn't played in the hood, bro. I was like, you can just say it, dog. Yeah, like Days and Confuse isn't played in the hood, bro. It's not played in black culture. It's not, but it is more iconic than you are. I don't think so.
SPEAKER_02It's more iconic than half bigger.
SPEAKER_00I don't think so, bro. It depends on the culture. I'm not remembering I'm just saying, like, if we're being non-biased.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, I'm not moving. It's I mean, it's arguably number one if we're being non-biased. I mean, like I said, I'm cool with this. I'm just saying, if we're truly being non-biased.
SPEAKER_00I'm being non-biased. I'm being real with you. It does not touch the things that the top five movies have, it's appealing to all cultures. If they are top in all cultures, not just one. I mean, dazed and confused is appealing to one culture. All right, John, read the final list.
SPEAKER_02Number 10, Bast Times at Richmount High. Number nine, the big Lebowski. Number eight, Dazed and Confused. Number seven, Grandma's Boy. Number six, Pineapple Express. Number five, How High. Number four, Half Bake. Number three, Harold and Kumar. Number two, Friday, and number one, Up and Smoke.
SPEAKER_00All right. That sounds like a complete list to me. Alright, guys. This has been another edition of One Take Real Talk. And it was all in one toque. One smoke. Keep it real. Keep it real. Peace. Peace.
