Anthony and John discussed their top trilogies! Is three really a crowd or is it the third wheel you really need?

SPEAKER_01

What's going on, guys? I am the Black Sheep Anthony C. And I am the bigger John V from South Carolina all the way to Cali.

SPEAKER_02

This is one take, real talk on movies, games, and everything pop culture, or some may say a trilogy.

SPEAKER_01

That's right. So guys, today we're gonna discuss our top ten. Five from John, five from me, favorite trilogies. Now, we're not saying these are the best trilogies ever. We're not saying if you don't have these movies on your trilogy list, your trilogy list is wrong. This is simply my top five, John's top version to a top 10 list.

SPEAKER_02

And hey, I will say this now. There's probably gonna be one big omission from this list that people are gonna get mad about.

SPEAKER_01

That's fine. That's fine. But John, what is your number five, our number 10 right now? All right.

SPEAKER_02

Well, right now, man, I I was floating between a couple here, right? And if I'm being real with myself and what I know I enjoy and how I know I am, gotta go with my gut. And I've got the Terminator trilogy coming in at number five.

SPEAKER_01

That's not bad. That's not bad. I mean, I I enjoy I enjoy all three of those movies.

SPEAKER_02

And just for clarification, guys, this is Terminator 1, T2, and Rise of the Machine.

SPEAKER_01

Not a bad thing.

SPEAKER_02

Man, it's just it's a great little like Terminator 1, you know, it's a slasher movie with a gun. It's awesome. Terminator 2 is one of the greatest action movies of all time.

SPEAKER_01

No, sir, it's the greatest action of all time, but go ahead.

SPEAKER_02

And Terminator 3, Rise of the Machine, probably the most overrated movie in this trilogy. And I know you've got some opinions on that, Anthony, so I'll slide that to you.

SPEAKER_01

I think three is very underrated. I really do. I think three is very underrated. I think three is a fun time. Is it Terminator 2? No. Does it try to be Terminator 2? No. And I think that's the best thing that helps this that that uh third part of this party. And I love, I'd be I ain't gonna say I love Terminator 3. I don't even I I'm gonna be real with you. I don't love Terminator 1. I love T2. You know what I'm saying? But I mean, I like both of these movies, and I think it makes a solid children.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think it's entertaining. Like James Cameron's in his bag. People love Terminator 2 for a reason, and yeah. It's just it's it's a blast to watch. There's a reason it's Arnie's best movie.

SPEAKER_01

One of his best movies is his most renowned, I definitely say that. I mean, because uh there's a little movie called True Lies, I think is is his favorite his best movie, I think. I think because you get the best of both. I think because True Lies is Arnold's best movie because it gets you the best of both worlds with Arnold, it gives you the action, and his way underrated comedy comes through in this. So I think that's Arnold's best movie. Just be as an acting standpoint, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_02

And the the wonderful, wonderful, and uh most amazing Jamie Lee Curtis is also in the spot.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, oh yeah. But uh, but yeah, no, Terminator Terminator Trilogy, man, solid trilogy, bro. Solid trilogy. I can't get mad at that. I'm not mad at that at all.

SPEAKER_02

I'm I'm glad it got a spot on here. Okay, but I will slide it to you, Mr. Antonio.

SPEAKER_01

I'm looking over here, man, and I'm trying to decide what's making it and what's not. But there's one trilogy I can't leave off, and I gotta go with Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, bro.

SPEAKER_02

Never seen it.

SPEAKER_01

Damn, John. You're doing yourself such a disservice. The first two are great, the third one is okay. And Dead Best Chance is my favorite. I ain't gonna lie to you. That's that's not my favorite, dude. Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, like starring these, and like they're not even like the only thing good in these movies. Kira Knightley, I think that's her name. And like, man, like there's so many rememorable characters from here, especially going from two to three, and then I mean, like, dude, and they just so good. The fact that this was based off nothing but a ride at Disney World. And it became what it is. Like, we're not gonna talk about anything after three, but like, bro, like this this is where release the Kraken came from. You know what I'm saying? More popular, you know, uh and more more current pop culture. But uh, but yeah, man, I'm not gonna hard too long, man. I know you don't know anything about it. I mean, which is crazy to me, which is crazy to me. Dude, out of everything we bring up, you realize you've seen probably less than I have now. Yeah, probably. Yeah, you gotta you gotta brush up, man. This is one this is one trilogy you need to watch.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so like the only thing I know is I think I've seen the first like 15, 20 minutes of the first one where Jack is like you see like a skeleton as they uh as they leave port. That's that's about all I know.

SPEAKER_01

You gotta watch this movie. These movies are so fun, bro. Like, if you it listen, I'm putting if I had to put a genre, right? Like, yes, you know it's action adventure. I'd put it with the Indiana Joneses, the the Back to the Futures, the tone. Yeah, that and then like what's my other one I was just thinking about. Um Damn, yeah, yeah. It's that that grave adventure. You know what I'm saying? Like, dude, I'm telling you, it's John, how you haven't watched this movie, uh, this trilogy, it they're straight fun, dude. You got sword fights, you got ship fights, like they're straight fun. You got you got a bunch of spiritual, like, not like you know what I'm saying, you got like a bunch of like spiritual stuff going on here, like paranormal stuff. Like, dude, you got monsters, like, dude, how, bro? I know Johnny Depp got an Oscar nod for the first movie. Dude, I mean, like, Johnny Depp is Cap Captain Jack Sparrow.

SPEAKER_02

This is your second favorite form of uh pirate media, so that's oh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, probably my first.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, well, no, no, it's your second, right after One Piece.

SPEAKER_01

Uh yeah, we ain't even gonna go there. But but yeah, man, this is the greatest thing anything if been. I mean, this and Black Flag, top tier. I was in the top tier. Fair, fair. But but yeah, man, you need to watch this trilogy. I'm I am I am putting you through the ringer. I am not letting you off the hook. You gotta watch this trilogy. But this is your type of movie, dude. It's very upbeat. It's dark when it needs to be, it's fun, it's like, dude, you hey, I went and watched, I went and re-watched the Back to the Future trilogy for you for our friendship. You have to watch this. For our all right, all right. Yeah, but John, what do you have, what do you have next?

SPEAKER_02

Oh man, it's number five at the number seven spot. I had to go with a uh a non-traditional trilogy here. And it's just because they're all three good, and that's that's a rarity in a trilogy. And they're all three, I would argue, outside of maybe one, pretty pretty relative in quality with the die hard trilogy.

SPEAKER_01

You know what I mean? I mean, I I can't speak on two. I'm gonna I'm gonna drop a bomb on you. I've never seen two. Really? I thought I saw two, but I've never seen two. I know what happens, I don't know what happens in two. I know two happens in the airport. It's beat for beat, number one, and I know that my boy, I call him Carl from Family Matters City. Oh Richie, Reginald, Reginald, I forgot his last name. But yeah, from Family Matters.

SPEAKER_02

I know I know who you're talking about, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but uh yeah, I know that. But like honestly, Die Hard goes for me, for me, Die Hard goes Die Hard, Die Hard with a vengeance, and then never say diehard. I think that's the fourth one.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, live free, diehard.

SPEAKER_01

Live free, diehard, yeah, yeah. With Timothy, whatever. But anyway, yeah, Justin, what's his name? Justin Long. Justin Long. Yeah. That's how that's how the Die Hard trilogy goes for me. I don't need any acknowledged tooth. Any gonna lie to you.

SPEAKER_02

Oh man, see, I enjoy two quite a bit. Just because it is like, it's not as good as the first one. It's not as good as the third one. Yeah, or the third one, or the third one. But like, you know, man, yeah, it's crazy.

SPEAKER_01

He knows because he hasn't seen it. Exactly. But I know. I know, dude, I know the quality of the first one and the third one. That's all I'm saying.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, the first one's one of the greatest action movies of all time. It revamped the action genre. Yeah, third one's one of the most underappreciated buddy cop movies of all time.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and I mean, not necessarily a buddy cop movie because him ain't uh cop, but yeah, you know, you're you're not wrong.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, but it's like, you know, they're both very frenetic. They've got like a lot going in their favor, some of the greatest villains of all time, and Hans and oh man. Jeremy Irons character, I can't remember.

SPEAKER_01

Simon? Simon, there we go. Yeah. You notice how he didn't say the damn villain from two, right? That's all I want to say.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, hey, look, I love uh I love my boy Bill. I think he does a great job. Uh too. Not not definitely not as you know strong a villain.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

But like, you know, these movies have just got like prime Bruce Willis. Oh man, we don't need to talk about talking about Bruce Willis, that's gonna make me say that. But like Samuel L. Jackson, him, and their their super electric chemistry. I love them. And just like, I mean, it's a Christmas classic, it's an action classic, and I think everyone should watch all these movies.

SPEAKER_01

You know what's crazy? You watch Die Hard 1 around Christmas, and I watch Die Hard with Avenge like every spring going into summer. Because you just feel hot watching that movie.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, well, I mean, it's the middle of New York and they're just sweating. In the middle of a heat wave.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, in the middle of a heat wave. Yeah, dude. I'll give it to you. It's a solid trilogy. It just, I don't know. I'm gonna have to watch two. Only, I will only watch Die Hard 2 if you watch the Pirates movies. Alright, alright. Fair enough. And Willie Kiddler. Hey, and to be fair, you owe me a couple movies to watch because I've watched a lot of your favorite movies.

SPEAKER_02

That is fair. I and I do have Disney Plus, so I don't have a reason not to watch Pirates.

SPEAKER_01

And you're off tomorrow, so there you go.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I'm not off tomorrow, but oh, well, anyway, I sue.

SPEAKER_01

But uh, are you done? Go for it, go for it. All right, so guys, I'm over here. I'm I'm I'm I I have 11 movies, and I'm I gotta pick four more. And I know that's going. I know that's going. Oh, this is tough, dude. This is tough. Like, this is tough. Dude.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, I I'm I'm not gonna lie. When I was thinking about number four, I was like, maybe we shouldn't go to top seven. I'm not gonna lie.

SPEAKER_01

I told I told you. I mean, we could go seven if you want to.

SPEAKER_02

Uh uh, screw, why not? Why not? We'll do seven.

SPEAKER_01

So, okay, so that frees up what, three more?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it frees up frees up Yeah, two more, two more. Because that was three more for you, two more for me.

SPEAKER_01

All right, all right, all right. Hold on. Alright, so it gives me three more on top of my four. Oh no. Let's see, I picked one.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you got six. You got yeah, you got you got three more. So it gives me two more pigs.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Alright, so it gives me two more. Alright.

SPEAKER_00

Well, guys, I'm gonna have to go two three four. It's still hard, dude. I'm gonna go.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know if you have this one, but John, I'm sorry. I'm going with the Teenage Mutant Inch Turtles trilogy. I do not, but I'm glad that it's here. Yeah. And that's that's that's the 19, late 1989 movie, the 1991 movie, and of course, I gotta take Teenage Mutant Inch Turtles 3. Don't love three. Three was one of them. I love three as a kid, but I love this trilogy, especially the first two movies. And Secret of the Ooze and the first one are like my babies. I love I love these movies. I do, I really love them.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I love so we talked about this recently off the podcast.

SPEAKER_01

I re-watched one and it holds up exceptionally well. I mean, one is the best movie in the franchise. Yeah, dude, I was so spot off guard, man. I would say one is the best, two is the funnest, and three is just yeah, it's three. And can we talk about how they swapped April O'Neal like three times? Yeah, it's never the same, never the same actress. Yeah, like they swapped, they swapped her three times. Like, damn, dude. What was in the water? It was also like, man, not only they swap her three times, she doesn't even like remotely look the same. No, at all. I mean, I'll say this, the chick from three looks a looks oh no. Is the chick from three the same one from oh no, they swapped her once. The chick from three is the one from two.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay, okay.

SPEAKER_01

I I want to I looked it up I had to look it up. I had to look it up. So yeah, no, I guess not. Because, yeah, she's in she's yeah, she's in two and three. Yeah. I guess she just got a little, you know what I mean, smaller.

SPEAKER_02

I guess you could say she was not eating her pizza.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, she cut her hair, that's what it was, bruh. She cut her hair, remember?

SPEAKER_02

The hair was shorter.

SPEAKER_01

Not eating her pizza. Yeah, she's not eating her pizza, John. But uh, but yeah, man, nah, damn. Hey, man, she was hey, okay, so they swapped her once. I ain't gonna lie. Which one would you prefer, John? Who do you like more? April number one or April number two? I kind of like April in the second movie more. She seems more like April, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, the first movie is kind of like she's a reporter trying to be April O'Neill. Yeah. Which is the worst kind of the worst kind of person.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But I love these movies, dude. I mean, they gave us so many good moments. Like you got the samurai turtles. I mean, I remember the toys for three being fire.

SPEAKER_02

Super, super funny mask.

SPEAKER_01

It's bad as those suits of aged, like. Yeah, and then you got the torture chamber. Okay, three has some memorable moments. It's just the the suits for three just look so terrible, though.

SPEAKER_02

They're very rubbery.

SPEAKER_01

It's the most artificial they've ever looked. No, that's a lie. If you want to know the most artificial they look, look at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV show on Fox. That shit looks horrible. I I remember that.

SPEAKER_02

I remember I saw that on VHS. Never watched it, but I have seen it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, those look worse. But these look like anorexic turtles compared to the originals. There's like a female one, right? In the no, I'm talking about on three, but yeah, there's a female one in the TV show. But nah, man. But yeah, nah. Coming in for my number, this we only got what, three picks? So yeah, so coming in at number what? Four? No, I don't know. 14. So yeah, coming in at number 11. Coming in at number 11, DNA speak with Ninja Turtles. Hey man, sorry guys. We be we be doing stuff on the cuff. I'm sorry. We apologize. We apologize. So, John, what you got next, man?

SPEAKER_02

All right, next up, man, I got the Garbage Pale Kids trilogy.

SPEAKER_01

Sure, you do.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, no, no. But because we're strictly talking trilogies, right? That was the one caveat I had to give myself. And if I'm being fair, my second favorite movie of all time is in this. Okay. But I gotta go with the Rocky trilogy at my number five.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah. See, going Clubber Lane, Apollo Creed, and Apollo Creed. Hey, man, hey, I like that. I like that.

SPEAKER_02

That's hey, hey, look, I think it's a great trilogy. I think there's a lot of ways you can mix it up. So, question.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. If you had to pull off one of these movies and put Rocky IV here, which one? I know it's not the first one. So if you had to pull one of these out and put Rocky IV here, which one would it be?

SPEAKER_00

I gotta I that's tough, ain't it? That's that's very tough.

SPEAKER_02

Because I think Rocky II has the best fight in the franchise.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Rocky III, Club Elaine, you get I had a tiger.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I know. I'm like rising up. And you get O'Hogan.

SPEAKER_01

And you get O'Hogan to three.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, it's right. He is in that movie, isn't he? He's on he's in the first act.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm. Because Rock becomes a parody A. You know what I'm saying? It comes a gimmick.

SPEAKER_02

I gotta, I gotta cut three and bring in four, but like, no, this is like picking your favorite child right here.

SPEAKER_01

Like. But yeah, no, this, but it ain't happening. So you got one, three, three today. So yeah, go ahead and talk about this children.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, dude, this is just like, I'm a sucker for an underdog. I really, really am. And to be fair, right? Like, if this was just Rocky, like the first one, this would be much higher on this list. But because it's not, right, and because we're strictly talking the trilogy as a whole, they're awesome. It's a great story about like rise, fall, rise again. I I love underdogs. I think Apollo Creed is an awesome villain. You know, God rest his soul, man. When we lost Carl Weathers, that that struck me a little bit. I ain't gonna lie to you. Mr. T's clubber lang is awesome. I mean, he's super threatening, and it's feel like he can just beat it out of you, rocks, give it a great performance.

SPEAKER_01

And then, like, obviously, the fact that like what's you know, one of my favorite lines comes from Rocky III. I I don't want to misinterpret it, but it's like after I beat you, I've had your woman come over to me and show what a real man feels like. That shit there is brutal. Yeah, brutal as hell.

SPEAKER_02

You know, my favorite line from Rocky III is uh, get you're gonna have a little angel in your ear and she's gonna go, get up, you son of a bitch!

SPEAKER_01

I love Rocky trilogy is solid, though. That's solid trilogy.

SPEAKER_02

I I I like I can burp on this all day, man. I love Rocky. Oh, and I got hella fun facts about him, but I'm gonna slide it to you. Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun.

SPEAKER_01

I'm going with one of my fun trilogies again, man. I'm sorry, it's just been a fun trilogy day for me.

SPEAKER_00

So I gotta go with Austin Powers. Trilogy.

SPEAKER_01

I'm mad at it. Yeah, I like that. Yeah, I mean, the weakest movie here is Gold Member, and Gold Member still is quotable and fun. Gold Member was the first movie I saw. Really, like I'll I mean, I'm just saying that it's the weakest one here. I mean, like, dude, I'll I listen. This trilogy is so fucking funny, bro. It's so I I love it. From International Man of Mystery to the Spy Shags Meets a Gold member. This is a trilogy I found a lot of fun with as a kid, bro.

SPEAKER_00

And that and it's just like it's entertaining, man. Like that trilogy needs to be entertaining.

SPEAKER_01

And then you know what helps? Ozzie Osborne is immortalized in this trilogy. Yes, he is. Yeah, that's all I'm saying. So he's awful. But uh, I'm I'm not gonna harp on this one. I just want to put this one in there. But like, yeah, man, coming in at number nine, yeah, Austin Powers, the whole trilogy, man.

SPEAKER_00

I love this trilogy.

SPEAKER_02

It's and there's just there's some fun movies. They really, really are. They are. But if you're not gonna hurt too long, I'll go ahead and rip out the band-aid to go ahead and knock out my number eight. More, number four.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, but it's number eight.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, number eight, number eight. I'm trying to keep my numbers all in order. And I was real conflicted where I was gonna go here, and I wasn't even 100% if I was gonna put them. But call me a glazer, say I don't know what I'm talking about, man. That's fine, it's whatever. I've got the Back to the Future trilogy because they're awesome.

SPEAKER_01

I I knew you were gonna do it, that's why I kept it off my list.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, all right, all right, perfect, perfect, dude. These movies are a blast, dude. Like, if someone ever asks you, what's a perfect movie?

SPEAKER_00

Back in the future's a perfect movie. A perfect show.

SPEAKER_02

The music's great, like the directing's fun. Hans Dimmer, Robert Zemechis, like, bring that pair back, dude.

SPEAKER_00

It's just I'm sorry, Doug, that's up in the water. I like how awesome it is.

SPEAKER_02

You got good old Marty McFly, James or uh Michael J. Fox himself, man. And then, of course, you've got Doc Brown. It's like Christopher Lloyd's giving a great performance. Thomas F. Wilson is diff. Like, this is just an awesome, fun, genuine time with all of these movies. They've all that they all got a lot of heart, they all got a lot of character, they've got great music, great acting. And if you're looking for a fun time, watch watch back from the future.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, yeah. You're not wrong.

SPEAKER_02

I'm sorry if I stole your thunder. It's just I love those movies, man.

SPEAKER_01

I like the movies. How do you steal my thunder? It's your pick.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't know if you had anything you wanted to say.

SPEAKER_01

So no, I mean, yeah, whatever you say. I would say you said it. Just to rub some salt on John's wound. Only one of us got to ride the back to future ride. Back to the future ride at uh Universal Studios.

SPEAKER_00

So just because you think you're funny doesn't mean you get to.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But uh, if you guys don't know what that is, that's a ride that's been discontinued over like 20 years now.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's what happens because you're old.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, hey, old oldness has its perks. That's all I'm saying. But I gotta go with my next pick, which will be my number four pick. Leaving me with three left, right? Yes. I'm trying to pick my top three. Okay, I got my top three. And I don't I don't think you ever watched this one. If you okay, so if you haven't watched this pick, I'm gonna I'm gonna redo another pick so we both have something to talk about, alright? So at my number four pick, I'm going with none other than Gordon Bombay and the Mighty Ducks trilogy.

SPEAKER_00

That's a wild pull. A wild pull.

SPEAKER_01

Go pull your favorite sports movie. This trilogy beats it hands down.

SPEAKER_00

Just wow. I mean, I that's really on estimate, isn't it?

SPEAKER_02

I mean, quack.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, quack.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. Keenan Thompson. You got so many iconic moments from one through three. I'm they don't make kids' movies like this anymore, bro.

SPEAKER_02

No, and and this movie isn't like doesn't play around. Like, it is pretty harsh.

SPEAKER_01

I'm talking about this trilogy, bro. I touches on some great moments. You lose Hans, you see Charlie grow into his own. You got the battle between Goldberg and Kat. Like, dude, this is a great trilogy. Like, that you you see them in the first two go from just another Pee-Wee team to Team USA in in part two, and then three, they go to this prep school where they all play JV. And but dude, it's this is a great trilogy. I don't think there's a bad movie. We uh up listen, up till back to the future. We have we have had every trilogy from here had a bad movie, right?

SPEAKER_02

I wouldn't see any of these have had like a bad movie.

SPEAKER_01

I'm talking about like they have had a weaker movie. I ain't gonna say bad. I said bad, but a weaker movie. I can't find a weaker in these last two picks, that's hard to find a weaker movie. 100%. Yeah, man.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think like I don't think back to the future. People don't like three. I get it. Whatever, right? You've you're allowed to be wrong. I allow that, right?

SPEAKER_00

But just though, like, you're you're hating. That's all it is.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, your phone in your in your shirt or something.

SPEAKER_02

I'm sorry, can you hear me better now?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I said just if you don't like three, you you're just a hater.

SPEAKER_01

That's all it is. Like, a movie's great. But all right, and I can say the same thing for D, because a lot of people don't like D3. They don't like it because Gordon, because Emilio Es Vest isn't the coach. It's a different thing. And you know, I think three is pound for pound, probably probably the best movie in this trilogy. Because it's different, you know what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_02

It's we we've talked about this before, and I don't know if I've ever said it on the podcast. I'm more forgiving of a movie in a trilogy or in a series that does something different. Like I can be more forgiving of flaws if you're trying to be something different, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But man, like I said, dude, I love this trilogy. I think it's a great trilogy. I think it's strong. I don't think there's a weak movie in this trilogy. But John, I'm not gonna quack too much longer. What where are you going for your number five pick?

SPEAKER_02

Anthony, do you promise you're not gonna be angry when I say this?

SPEAKER_01

Dude, it's hard for you. I already got one, two, three pick. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, all right. Coming in at my numero three, right? Yeah, yeah, it'd be your three because we got six picks left here. Okay, man. I'm going with you know, the one, the only alien. Oh, why the fuck would I care?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I know. Like, why the fuck would I care? That's all I'm saying.

SPEAKER_02

Like, these movies are great, dude. I love one and two. Like, three, I'm not gonna sit here and pretend is not weak, right? But one and two are so good that they deserve it. Like, it is such a strong, like, two of the greatest movies of all time. We've got the one and only, the amazing Samara Weaving coming in, getting an Oscar mod for her performance at Rippoint.

SPEAKER_01

I'm so did I say Samara Weaving? Yeah, you said Samara Weaving. Oh. You got ready or not on the brain, brother.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, no. I did not mean I did not mean Samara Weaving in the slightest.

SPEAKER_01

I thought she was I thought she was having a stroke for a second, but dog was like, you need to correct yourself. Yeah, Samara Weaving, nigga. What are we talking about here?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, obviously, it's Sidney Prescott. Okay. I'm joking, Sigoni Weaver. Yeah. I mean, like, just legendary, one of the most badass women in movies. Like, the xenomorph is great, the fight scenes are awesome, got some awesome practical gore, like these movies are great. And I'm gonna slide it to you because you don't like them.

SPEAKER_01

So, yeah, I don't give a fuck about them. All right, so I gotta back up for my number three. I got two picks here. If you haven't seen this movie, this trilogy, then I'm gonna go with my safe pick here, okay?

SPEAKER_02

I'm trying to protect it. There's one on here I've got that I don't want to take from you.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you probably got my number one or number two. So, but if you haven't seen this trilogy, then I'm gonna go with an I have a safer pick that we can actually talk about.

SPEAKER_02

You ready? Okay, go for it.

SPEAKER_01

All right. So I'm going with the El Mariachi trilogy.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay. All right, I didn't expect that. Yeah, that's a fun one.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. So El Mariachi is is Robert Rodriguez's passion project. It's basically, I think it's his debut project. And it was good, but it became great when he created Desperado. And Antonio Barndaris and a badass guitar and some badass moments with him and Saba Hayek.

SPEAKER_00

Now, my safe pick is rush hour. You tell me which one you want to talk about. I mean, let's go rush hour. I mean, I have a blast talking about rush hour.

SPEAKER_01

So rush hour coming in at my number three thing.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, dude, these movies are just so funny, bro.

SPEAKER_01

Like I mean, I think rush hours. See, the reason I have these two right here because I think I I think the first one in Mariachi is the weakest. Not for any fault of its own, just because the beginning, and the third one in Rush Hour is the weakest. Because I'll I'll go a mile and say that two is better than one in Rush Hour.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, you know, I'm not mad at that take.

SPEAKER_02

That's not like that's not crazy. I love the first movie.

SPEAKER_01

So I love the first movie, but like the second one, dude, like has so many iconic moments in there in China. Excuse me. It's so good, man. This trilogy is good.

SPEAKER_02

Then just like Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan, one of the most legendary, how did this work duos.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, they're the peanut butter and chocolate uh fucking buddy cop movies, man. Because it shouldn't work, but it does.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, exactly. Like every time I hear these two, I'm just like, yeah, they've got a whole trilogy together. That's right.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. And suppose I have a fourth one on the way. They replaced Bad Boys here. Only because, so we had a caveat that the trilogy, the third movie has to end an arc or a story, and Bad Boys 3 does not end the story because it's a continuation.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I was I was wondering when you said rush hour. I was like, really?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, alright, all right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but I I love, I love, I got this on digital and I have the physical. Rush Hour 2 was the first DVD I bought with my PlayStation 2. Show you how old I am.

SPEAKER_00

I appreciate the honesty there.

SPEAKER_02

The love this man has for uh for rush hour cannot be understated. Yeah, no.

SPEAKER_01

I seen I seen uh Rush Hour in theaters when it first came out, had the rush hour soundtrack. Like I said, the third one is like to me the weakest one, but it's still a fun time.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I don't think there's necessarily like a bad one here.

SPEAKER_01

It's still quotable. It's very quotable, but uh it's not as quotable as the first two. I don't think so. Yeah, that's fair. But but John, what is your number two pick, man?

SPEAKER_02

All right, Anthony. I'm I'm gonna take one off to protect your my my number. Oh, wait, this is my number two.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's your number two pick.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay, okay. I keep thinking we're number three. All right, all right, we're good, we're good. Yeah, I've got the Raimi Spider-Man trilogy here, man. Okay. Like, I mean, dude, these just like one and two are great. These are superhero classics, and I'm gonna say, Spider-Man 2 is better than probably 95% of the MCU. And I do unironically think a contender for the greatest superhero movie of all time, call it glaze or not.

SPEAKER_01

It's a little glaze, but go ahead.

SPEAKER_02

It is just so well thought out. Like, these are such like well-crafted movies, and Toby McGuire really slides into the role of Peter Parker. I do wish he was a little quippier Spider-Man, but he's not bad. And even then, Spider-Man 3, the most overhated movie in this franchise, is not that it's deservingly, it deserves to hate.

SPEAKER_01

Sorry, sir. That shit deserves to hate.

SPEAKER_02

Please note, guys, it's coming from a guy who likes uh the amazing Spider-Man 2 more.

SPEAKER_01

I I'm not saying I like it more. Both are bad movies, but I mean if you had to pick, I'd pick Amazing Spider-Man 2. Just because I feel like it's a better Spider-Man story. I'll say that.

SPEAKER_02

But you know, Spider-Man 3 with Toby, you know, taking on his like, you know, Sandman, I do wish like they could have found a better way to integratiate with ingratiate it without you know having to go back to the Uncle Ben stuff. But this is just it's a strong movie, it's a fun time. And I think these movies they're all decent movies.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, dude, if you think three is decent, you need to up your score on Mario Galaxy. That's all I'm saying. Mario Mario Galaxy, Mario Galaxy is better than Spider-Man 3. Uh, it's debatable. It's not debatable. That is not out for debate, brother. I'm telling you that shit now. It is not out to debate. That's all I'm saying.

SPEAKER_02

Don't worry about it. We'll come back to it. But yeah, like, and Spider-Man 2 is the best in this trilogy, without a doubt. And Spider-Man 1 is iconic, but I'm gonna slide it to you, man, unless you have something you want to say about.

SPEAKER_01

No, I don't have Jay shit to say about. I mean, I love the first two movies, iconic. Uh I wish they did better with three. That's all I gotta say. But in my number two, I'm going with the trilogy that means a lot to me. And I don't think there's a weak one in this trilogy. Like, you can say you like one movie better than the other. You can say this or that, but I'm giving you the best horror trilogy, pound for pound, child's play trilogy.

SPEAKER_00

I was expecting that or another one.

SPEAKER_01

Well, like I said, child's play trilogy is the best horror trilogy because I think all three of them do exactly what they need to do. They continuate the story, they're they build on the lore. That's not a bad moment in any one of these movies. Not a bad moment. All of them overhated third movie. Also, way overhated third movie. Way overhated. Not deserve any hate. It's better. Listen, bro, line your favorite horror movies up by the three. And I promise you, this trilogy will take them down.

SPEAKER_02

Also, like, you know, Spider-Man 3 might be better, but like, I gotta give, you know, Chucky 3 is is his flowers, man. Like, that's a fun time. It is. Like, I love the uh I got I guess the fan blade kill is what they call it, but like Yeah, did it at the end?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. But dude, and that gives us that gives birth about a good couple years later to the bride of Chucky, but you know, that's not here today. Yeah, and Chucky's best design. Yeah, it re- like, bro, listen, one through four is great. That's all I'm saying. They had, what, one mishap in this whole franchise? Yeah. I mean, like, dead serious, like, man, listen, bro.

SPEAKER_02

If you don't think maybe you don't like the military camp thing, but that's about all I can complain about. I don't give a damn.

SPEAKER_01

I love three. I love the military camp. I love the different setting. I love Chucky having to maneuver around certain things that he never had to move around. Like, dude, there's so many iconic moments. Presto. You're dead. Like, dude, come on, man.

SPEAKER_00

Come on, bro. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But uh, but yeah, man, damn, yeah, man. Andy getting older, dealing with different things, Chucky finding him. The beginning of this movie is great. Like, the beginning of this movie is great. Like, for real, man. And it ties everything back and forth about the cover-up with Andy's mom. Like, dude, we're sticking on, we're sticking on three, but two is the best movie in this whole franchise. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

And debatably one of the greatest horror movies of all time.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. Like, it introduces one of my favorite characters with Kyle. I mean, like, dude, like, I'll tell you, man, and then has the best favorite. Interesting dynamic that you want to discuss a lot. Exactly. Has one of my favorite kills with the ruler scene. Because you don't see anything really. That's the that's the I love a scene that does a lot with a little. And then let's talk about the best third act. I'll put it pound for pound with any horror movie. The best third act, listen, I'm gonna tell you why it's the best. It is visually, it is visually the best. And like, dude, you you really think Chucky is done at the end of this.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. That's a big one.

SPEAKER_01

There's no reason not to. There's not. I'll tell you. Hold on. But yeah, man, I mean, I I love this trilogy. The first one, I mean, I mean, like, dude, if you guys want to know how old I am, the first one came out the year I was born. If it doesn't, if if if you don't think me and Chucky, you know what I'm saying, had that had that deep of ties, you're crazy. Okay? We're born in the same year. That's all I'm saying. But John, what is taking the crown for you today, man? What trilogy, what trilogy are you giving the gold medal to today?

SPEAKER_00

John? Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_02

I thought you were gonna you were saying gold medal for yours. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_01

No, I said, what are you giving the gold medal to today?

SPEAKER_02

All right, gold medal man, okay. I'm I'm protecting this, Anthony, because I don't want to mess this up for you. I thought that was my gold medal. I thought Raimi was my gold medal. No, you got one more pick. Oh, okay. Alright. Well, that was supposed to uh bump Raimi up. That's supposed to be my number uh it doesn't matter, man. We're not Raimi D. Yeah, we're just talking about them. Alright, man. Save Anthony's trilogy. I've got the Dark Knight trilogy.

SPEAKER_01

You know what's crazy? I have it here, but I wasn't gonna put it here. Oh, wow. Okay. Yeah. What's it gonna put it? Because I'm gonna be real with you. Probably not my favorite Batman trilogy. Go ahead, Batman. No, we'll talk about this and I'll tell you. But go ahead.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, dude, just like legendary set of movies, like legendary villain performances, legendary Batman, legendary Lucius, like legendary, what's his face? Not Lucius Albert. There we go. With you know Michael Kane, just it's intense. The action is brutal and really grounded. Obviously, like, you know, Heath Ledger's Joker, one of the legends. R.I.P. You got good old-fashioned Bain, you know, probably the most slept-on villain in the series.

SPEAKER_01

Most definitely is. He's the best villain in that whole series. I'm sorry, guys. Heath Ledger Jokers come in in a solid second. Speak out you're someone. Someone is like raising a pitch for. Listen, Heath Ledger, performance-wise, Heath Ledger Joker is great. R.I.P. to the man, iconic. I'm not saying he's not. But when it comes to being medicine and actually putting in work in a Batman movie, it's Spain. It's Spain.

SPEAKER_02

But yeah, I mean, just awesome, awesome trilogy, super fun. Nolan's in his bag. The practical effects are awesome. The camera work is awesome. The action's super intense.

SPEAKER_00

Just it's awesome. I love them. I'm suppliing it to you.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you for taking that off my list. So I'm gonna, all right, so I have one trilogy here that I really want to go with. But I'm gonna ask you. Should I go? Should I go what most people are anticipating? What most people should be thinking? Or should I like that's three, that's two different peaks. What people think I'ma go, what people, what I believe people should be able to go, or slept on. Out of those three, which category should which category should I put it number one?

SPEAKER_00

I'ma go with, yeah, go with go with uh slept on. Slept on? Yeah, I I didn't really think about that, man. That was hard.

SPEAKER_01

Alright. My pick for slept on and my number one, where people know it's a trilogy. And when people say, oh yeah, it is that good, yeah, it's slept on phenomenal. And it's ironic that you picked this one, John, because another kid named Andy has some toys that move. And we're going with Toy Story Trilogy. I can't be mad at you. It's so good. It is. It's so good. The Toy Story Trilogy coming in at number one. From one to three is phenomenal. Not a bad movie. You could pick whichever one and say, hey, this is the best. You're not wrong. You're not wrong. But I mean, like, dude, I love this trilogy. My kids love this trilogy. Like, I'm a like, dude, I'm telling you, like, yeah, this is this is uh this is it, man. Hey, so I got not there for our next episode. But yeah, man, I mean, this is a great trilogy. You see, do you actually see these toys that Andy and everybody else grow old and develop?

SPEAKER_02

What it means, like, for Andy to have to step away from this stuff. Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

And then he gives us to the true, the true, uh, I should I say it, John. I mean, she's not the MC, but okay. He literally has to hand his kid, his toys, over to the real villain of this Toy Story, of the Toy Story franchise, and that's Molly.

SPEAKER_00

Molly? We'll save this. We'll save this. That's it. Not Molly.

SPEAKER_01

No, not Molly, that's his sister's sister's Molly. What's the little girl's name?

SPEAKER_00

I forgot her name. I don't remember. I know who she is, though. I think it's Annie. I think that's I don't know who's. Oh, it's what the hell is her name? Millie? Is it Millie? Millie. I think it's Millie. Yeah, I think it's Millie. What's this up? But yeah, she's the real villain in this whole thing.

SPEAKER_01

I'm sorry. It ain't Sid. She's the worst, she's the worst villain of all. Her name is Bonnie. Bonnie, there it is. See, kid's so worse, we didn't even know her name, okay?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, worse.

SPEAKER_01

Bonnie. Hey, listen, as a father of children, I know kids at that age can either be the best or the worst. This kid's the worst. Hopefully she grows out of it. But I doubt it. We're gonna see Toy Story 5. But yeah, man, nah. Toy Story coming in with the cleanup. But uh, but John, I got, can I tell you where what I was gonna go with here? Go for it, yeah. Unless you want to save for honorable mentions. I mean, this is honorable mentions. I'm just telling you what I was gonna go with here, unless you got something else to say about Toy Story. No, no, no. I'm good, I'm good. Go ahead, go ahead. I originally, the the one that people normally think I should put it, would have thought that I should put it number one. And it's a great number one, but it's just it's it's it's one of my favorite trilogies.

SPEAKER_00

The Lord of the Ring trilogy. Yeah, I thought that's not your number one.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not saying it's not my number one, but that's what I was gonna go with, but then I let you choose, remember? And then the one I was gonna say that that what I was gonna promote, like what I want the one I said what I think people should say more, the Men in Black trilogy. Good set of movies, good set of movies. Third one's a little weaker for sure. Third one is probably one of the most slept-on movies out there. Third one is really good. I'm telling you, you got Josh Roland playing fucking Tom Ellie Jones in his prom. It's very funny. Yeah, it's not it's not bad at all. But to round off the little bit of list I had left, I had the screen trilogy. And the worst trilogy I have on here is the Blade Trilogy. John, what was you saving for me? Well, it was the Dark Knight.

SPEAKER_02

Uh because it was gonna be one, but then you didn't take it. The other one was gonna be Evil Dead. Okay. But my number one, if you're I'm assuming we're good to we're good to go on or just honorable mentions. Oh, yeah, just honorable mentions, yeah. Evil Dead, we're gonna throw out the Creed trilogy.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna say Tom Holland Spider-Man.

SPEAKER_01

And uh that feels like a good I mean the fact the fact that I left off Captain America, that's all I'll say.

SPEAKER_00

But uh training direction.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh Shrek trilogy is a good one. That's a very good one. Yeah, the first Shrek trilogy is a good one. But uh guys, this has been another edition of One Tape Real Talk. And best believe it was all in one tape. One shot. Keep it real, real peace. Peace.
