Anthony and John review the new Mortal Kombat two movie! Will there be a flawless victory or a Woopsie?
What's going on, guys? I am the Black Sheep Anthony C. And I am the big John V. From South Carolina all the way to Cali. This is the one, the only, the fatal, the deadly. One take, real talk are movies, games, and sometimes games that get made into movies starring Carl Urban. I wouldn't say starring Carl Urban. Well, he's the one all over the trailers. But we'll get into that. Because we're reviewing Mortal Kombat 2. That's right, that's right. So I went to go see it this weekend. John, you saw it this weekend, right? I saw it yesterday. Yesterday being Saturday, right? Yes, sir. Okay, I saw it Friday. Better than the original, if I'll just say that. I had fun with it. I think that's about as far as I'd go. I had fun with it. No, no, I thought that's what I'm saying. I think that's about as far as I'd go on. I had fun with it. Yeah. But I think it was better than the original. That goes without saying. I think they did exactly what they needed to do this sequel to do. So can we start with like one spoiler? Why? Because it's gonna lead into one of my points here. I literally was talking to Mystical about our movie reviews and how you can't go one damn review without trying to spoil something. Yes, that is my skill. So can I? Or what are you trying to pertain? You can't wait to the spoiler section. Well, it leads into my point, but we can wait till the spoiler section. But yeah, Anthony start us off. Let's start with No, I'm gonna let you start us off. Go ahead. Yeah, so there's this thing. No, I'm not gonna do that. I guess I'll start with uh what what I kind of felt with this movie kind of fell flat in the story department for me. Not that it's bad, but I think it's a really big overcorrection. Now I don't know if I'm alone on that, but what you feeling? I honestly didn't go into a Mortal Kombat movie, expecting much of a story. So I don't know, we differ there, I guess. I didn't go in here for a Shakespearean chill. Takes Shakespearean literature not what I'm saying. I'm saying one of my issues I had with this movie was felt like an overcorrection for Cole. Because pretty pretty famously, guys, Cole was not super popular. No. I think it was the perfect move. So yeah, I think that was the perfect. I think that was the perfect thing they could have done. Pull back on the character that nobody ever gave a damn about. That's the first thing. Should have been. But they try to tie into this whole thing about him being from the bloodline of Scorpion, and they basically turned Scorpion into Goku. You know, hey, wait, the Scorpion pull up. You know, I mean, like I said, I had fun with this movie, man. Uh, I think that's what this movie is intended for. This is stupid, dumb fun. And I don't, I didn't I came here for stupid, dumb fun going into more combat. Yeah, I didn't, I will be fair. Like, I did not come into this with high expectations. Yeah. And my biggest issue was I feel like some of the character notions here, right? Fell a little flat for me. And when I say that, I'm like, because we were overcorrecting for Cole so much. I I wouldn't say it's an overcorrection. I so there's two main characters here. One got more trailer time than the other one. Johnny Cage got the trailer. I think he was there to build off the Easter eggs and everything from the first one. And then you got katana. And Katana, surprisingly, stole the show. For me. You know, I was caught off guard because this is maybe a good example of like misdirection in a good and bad way in movies. So for anyone who was watching the trailers, the majority of the trailers would have you believe Johnny Cage is the main character of these movies. It would. It would. Which, I mean, we could get into the discussion of like if that's a good or bad thing, or yes or no. But I will say it's very weird to me that we went down this route, and the majority of the movie, Katana, got far more focused than I was expecting her to get. The opening act also kind of threw me for a loop because I was saying, oh, they adapted this. They literally took off from the beginning of this movie and said, Hey, we got you here. So here's our lead character for this movie. And I ain't gonna lie, I was a little like, damn, I did not see it going this way. And it it was a good surprise. I ain't even gonna lie. Because in the first two original Mortal Kombat movies, Tatana is just a side character. She's a side hitter. I like, I like the I like the direction it went with her relationship with Jade. I was hoping to get a Melina in here, they wouldn't. Spoiler on that. I was very shocked to see them not do her. Yeah, they did not have a Melina in here, but you don't want to overfill your basket. I mean, like, but yeah, man, let's let's talk about the the guy who got us got everybody to come out. Uh Johnny Cage. John, you you got something you want to say? I have very mixed feelings about this. I'm gonna start with what I like. I'm gonna let you say what you like, and then we'll go into the issues. That sound fair. So let's just start with what I like. Carl Urban is a great actor. Yes, yes. And I think with what he was given, like as a script, the like he I I do believe he did the best with what he had. I I think the jokes are funny. I really actually like the way they introduce him. That felt like oh, they understand Johnny Cage. And then the positives kind of end there. For you. Actually, I'll take that back. I do like a lot of the gags they do. The gags feel very Johnny, and I do like those. I mean, so for me, I like Carl Urban as this version of Johnny Cage. I'm gonna say this version of Johnny Cage. I prefer a younger Johnny Cage, but because Sonia is not that old, and Liu Kang is not that old. The core three aren't that, aren't supposed, they're supposed to be around about the same age. Something like that. Yeah, mid-like late 20s to early 30s. Yes. And it's clear that Johnny Cage is past his prime in here. And that direction was a direction, it just wouldn't have been the one that I took. The only gripe I have here about this Johnny Cage is that it's an older Johnny Cage. I don't know what gripe you have, but that's the main gripe for me because when it comes to portraying Johnny Cage as Johnny Cage, I think Carl Orban does a solid job. I don't think he did the best job. I think he did a solid job. Like you said, best with what he had. Yeah. He was there for the laughs. I I like the laughs. I like the um, I like the fact that Johnny Cage knows, knew where he was at in that point in time of his life. He wasn't delusional, he wasn't like, you know, yeah, yeah. But I wanted that so overly welling, conceited Johnny Cage. That's what I wanted. Yeah, there's there's kind of a lack, I don't want to say lack of arrogance, but there's certainly a lack of what I imagine Johnny Cage as. And then we'll go the extra mile here, where and I I can't get into my full gripes with this character until we get to the end of spoilers, which we'll get into here in shortly. But I do want to say I think they nailed the look. For if it's gonna be an older Johnny Cage, is kind of what I imagined Johnny Cage would look like, right? And I do think with what they were given, there was certainly some room for like, hey, yo, you know, let's play around with this, let's try and tell a different story, let's let's try and do something different. Yeah. Where I would have gone significantly different would have been let's not maybe, and I don't know. I mean, again, you can be if you disagree, disagree, right? Maybe let's not go the burnt out actor route. Uh uh repeat that I couldn't hear you. Uh let's not go the burnt out actor route. Okay. And and the reason I'm saying that is because I feel like when when we're talking like Johnny Cage, not that this needs to be the prime of his career, but the arrogance and that facetious tone that he speaks with, and and then that condescending nature he has, obviously he grows out of, but that he has not being here, I think really knocks. And go ahead, go ahead. The the biggest, I mean, uh, with this character, man, there needs to be a high-level degree of arrogance. And this is one of those situations where the character is almost a polar opposite of what I'm used to. You know what I mean? That's the like, yeah, he's not flashy, he's not arrogant, and it's it's almost him trying to find himself. And and and I just don't I don't hate the character, and I don't want to come off as I like like I do because Johnny Cage is by far one of my top five characters. First character I ever used in Mortal Kombat. Just because he was based on one of my favorite action stars, John-Claude Van Damme. And it wasn't me, or was this was his accent slipping in and out? Am I tripping? Yes, it was. Okay, I'm glad I wasn't alone in that. I I was like, is he supposed to be doing that? Yeah, uh, because Johnny Cage is supposed to be all American. Real, real Caucasian. Yeah. And it's just, I don't know, man. It's just, I felt like it was Carl Urban playing old Johnny Cage and not just Johnny Cage. Yes, I I that's that was kind of that was kind of how I felt. But it isn't bad. It's just because I don't think there's anything Carl Urban does as bad, but it's just not the Johnny Cage that I was on. You know, and I know I know I said that multiple times, but I mean that's just that's the best way I can describe it. That's fair, that's fair. Well, well, okay, we we've been on Johnny Cage for a minute, and I feel like we'll come back to him in the sports. He's the star. I mean, but yeah, he's one of the stars anyway. But go ahead. Let's talk. I think I think we should talk a little more katana. Katana? I I don't know much about this actress that plays katana, but I like it. I think she plays a better katana than the 1990s katana. I mean, it's not a high bar, but yes, I agree. I mean, I mean, it's not a high bar, but it's the bar that we had to uh go off of. Yeah, that's fair. I I do appreciate they giving, you know, they give her the jade angle and they do lean into it because I was very glad when they did show him, like Shao Kahn specifically, yeah, does adopt Katano. Yeah, right? Like that is that has always been something. Yeah, that's the that's the that's the whole thing. They that means one thing I will give these people who are directing this movie, these last couple movies that have created this movie, they stick close to the lore as possible. Yeah, that that is I do appreciate that. Yeah, they stick close. Okay. So slight spoilers here. What was your favorite uh character introduced in this movie? Who was your favorite character? Kano. Kano. Kano, Kano wasn't introduced here though. Oh, introduced in this movie. Yeah, yeah. Um probably this new guy, uh, Cole might have heard of him. But no, being being serious for a second here. Okay. Not like your favorite, but like, like, damn. Like, you know what I'm saying? I didn't expect this. Um is this cheating if I say noob cybot? No, that's not cheating. Okay, because I was like, it is technically sub-zero. That's why I'm yeah, no. I like noob cybot, but I'm gonna tell you it caught me off guard. Juan Chi. Yeah, yeah, he was he was fun. Um guard. I wish they did more with him, but you know. Yeah, I would I was gonna say it's I just think he's underutilized. Yeah. Like pretty significantly so, because he really doesn't do anything in this movie. Yeah. Shao Kahn, let's talk about the man behind the mask. Similar to where we would do a one-word, one-sentence review. I think the guy playing him, uh, Marty Toonsky, is that it? I don't know. Go ahead. Phenomenal performance. Yeah, I think, I think, I think, yeah, I think I personally think Shao Kahn was I my biggest gripe about the character, I wish he was a little bit bigger. That's it. And even then, like this dude's huge. Yeah, yeah. But I mean, I just wish he was a little bit more physically imposing. But but he was imposing nonetheless. And I think I think it was a good representation of Shao Kahn. I really do. I hope we get Kodo Khan in the next movie. So now for my one gripe with this one. Was it just me or did Shao Kahn feel a little weak? Yeah, I mean, that's what I was saying. Like, I mean, until he got his Gallagher on. That was my favorite scene. That was my favorite scene. I just like I said, man, I wish they went more into how strong he was. And I mean, he does catch a nice little body, he catches a good little amount of bodies in here. Oh, yeah. I mean, he heard it. Hey, you you're far away, man. You're far away. I said he does get a handful. He does get a handful here. Yeah. But I did think, like, so not to spoil who the final fight is before we get into spoiler sections, but when who ends up fighting him in the spinal act starts fighting him, I was like, man. He fought all these other guys, and she's they're giving them a spoiler. Or they're giving them a hard time. I was like, really? Yeah. Um that was a decision. I'll tell you another one I enjoyed, uh, Baraka. Yeah, Baraka was great. I remember that. That was a good that was a good time right there. Um my biggest gripe with the film overall, I feel like that third act was a little, I ain't gonna say I don't want I I'm trying to forgive. It just didn't hit the way I wanted it to hit. You know. I my thing was when we got it there, I was like, oh, we're here now? This was kind of sudden. But like, I just felt like it didn't hit the way I wanted it to hit. It was not bad. That just didn't hit the way I wanted it to hit. Yeah, for me, it just felt a little too fast. Like, felt like we got there a little too quickly. I mean, movie the movie isn't that long. I think it was two hours and ten minutes when I checked. Definitely only two hours. Definitely. I think like two hours and four minutes. I'll check right now. It is hour 56. Oh, I said it's not that long. Yeah, wow. Yeah, no, that movie, that movie blew by. But I do want to ask, how do you feel about the way they represented the video game stages? I loved it. And the actual remote is like the dizziness. Like me and me and my brother-in-law was calling us up the whole time. Like the the days, I like how they had a certain character dazed. This is by far one of the best video game adaptation movies. Let's let's just get that out of the way. I'm sorry. When it comes to actual like adapting the game. Adapting towards the yeah. When it comes to adapting the game, this is by far one of those. But like I said, it's just I I loved it, man. I I I want to see more of this universe. I do. Okay, so this this this might be a hot take. I uh don't think this should have been the second. I don't think this should have been a new, like, a sequel. I think this should have been a standalone movie. Why? So when we get into spoilers, I can give a little more context, but I mean we can get into spoilers now. I mean, unless you want to give the rating first. Yeah, we'll we'll we'll okay. Non-spoiler rating, I'm gonna go 6.5. I give it a 7.5. I give it a 7.5. I think it's a solid, solid video game adaptation. Like I said, if you gave me a younger Johnny Cage, this would probably be an eight. Yeah. So this is this is your I'm gonna give you all a five-second countdown in five seconds. Nigga, just say, Look, ain't no damn five. Look, spoiler warning. If you don't want to hear no spoilers, skip ahead with me and John. Spoilers aren't gonna be that long. We're just gonna we're gonna get into talking nostalgia after that. But spoiler warning, all right. What do you want to spoil, John? Okay, so for one, I think the fact that they kill the main character, Cole, of the last movie. Look, I am not a huge Cole fan. I don't think anyone in this fucking world is, right? Yeah. And I mean, prove me wrong, right? But to kill him, and then it's just like forgotten about. Like, there's no like they just don't fucking care. And I was like, really, guys? Like the main character. They did. They mentioned it, dude. They mentioned it point on one. Yes, they do. They literally closed the movie saying, Let's go get our friends. Yeah, but you don't. They didn't give a fuck about Cole. Okay, but I'm just saying, like, they gave that's fan service. Why would they make this a standalone movie when they can curve like they already built the universe? They didn't make it so like I can't agree with that. And then two, being, I think because Cole is basically Johnny Cage, he's not a scorpion background. Yeah, but he's not. He they I don't know what the hell they try to do, but go ahead. We'll finish what you're saying. But since he's like a watered-down version of Johnny Cage, but with Scorpion background, it really threw me for a loop that it feels like a lot of the character development that should have gone to Cole goes to Johnny, and those moments rung kind of hollow for me. Elaborate. Like, what are you talking about? So, for example, right, there's this big moment, guys, towards the the end where he's like, Johnny's talking about perspective, right? And how, oh, this was such a big deal for him, and he didn't want to do it. And I mind you, Johnny's only been a part of the tournament for like Massa Minnows a day or two. And then he gets this big perspective shift, and like all the character development that felt like was Cole's in the first movie that would have been like a big moment for him here with Johnny is is just given to Johnny, and he's like he's just like, okay, I've made my decision. Which, like, understandable, right? Because again, you know, like we are basically just replacing Johnny Cage with Cole. I mean, not really, because in order to replace him, you gotta not have Cole here. Cole's here. I'm sorry, replace Cole with Johnny Cage. Okay, but what I'm saying is like Cole gets a fight. Cole is in the movie the whole time, except when he's not. But let's be fair here, Cole isn't the only person killed. Yeah, but he is the first body. Okay, but I mean, like, it's just he's it'd be different if Cole was the only one to die. Then I could probably agree with you. But like the fact that Cole isn't the only person to die, I can't agree with you. Now, if we're going down that route, because we're in spoilers, so I can finally talk about this. What do you think of the fatalities? Fatalities, great. That's what we came for. Like, is your favorite? Probably damn probably Shao Kahn. Oh, with the hammer. Yeah, no, I'm talking about Shao Kahn getting Katana killing Shao Kahn. Oh that one, huh? Yeah, that was pretty sick. And because that was hers from the game. And then, of course, Cole, like Cole getting fucking Gallagher. I was like, shit, yeah. The fucking theater erupted in cheers, bro. Yeah, because no one gave a fuck about Cole. Okay, then. So you're over here campaigning for a guy, you know what I'm saying? Nobody cares about. I'm not campaigning. I'm just saying from a writing perspective. But dude, all I'm saying is this right here. Cole is not permanently dead. Okay. That nobody, and if you played a Mortal Kombat game, you know nobody is permanently dead. They literally kill off the main character of the fucking franchise. Pretty regularly, actually. Yes, like if you want to think if you want that pissed me off more than anything. No, Jax getting killed pissed me off more than anything. How are you gonna kill the only black guy in the group? Like, you wanna talk about a character that didn't get any screen time, that didn't get any love? It's Jax. He gets one fight with the case. At least fucking, yeah, at least fucking, at least fucking damn Cole. Cole gets to fight Shao Kahn. I mean, he lost, but like, hey. Yeah, but I'm just saying, he had a build-up moment, though. We knew when when the shit when Cole walked out and Shao Kahn walked out, I said, Yeah, we know how this is. We know how this is. I mean, I was not, I was not surprised. Don't get me wrong. Yeah, exactly. The only thing I wish that he would have damn uppercut his ass into the asset. That's it. I mean, I liked him kind of pushing him off the edge. That felt very like stage fatality. Yeah, but damn, it's just like I said, I had fun with this movie, dude. I don't see how you gave it a six, but you know, I mean, that's hey, that's your rating. You know what I mean? So man, I'm just I'm just saying the truth. I mean, your truth. I had fun with it. Like, I got people- I had fun with it too. I think the best part of the movie is the fight scenes. It's a Mortal Kombat movie. It's supposed to be the best part of the movie, man. Like, I don't get how you gave it a six, is what I'm saying. I don't get how you get a 6.5. I mean, I gave it a 7.5, and that's only me holding Johnny Cade. I think the movie could be an eight. I'm being rude with you. If somebody said they got the movie at an eight, I'm not gonna be upset at it. Oh, and then also, also, uh, before I forget, my favorite fatality uh was Liu Kang. Kim uh. Oh, you're talking about Kung Lao. Yeah, yeah. I'm not talking about I'm not talking about that because that's still my favorite character. They killed all twice now in this shit. Uh, just leave my boy out there. Anthony might be a little stung here from the pain that Mortal Kombat has brought him four times now, because they also kill him and or three times. You know, this is also kill him in the original. That's twice. And and and the and the 90s movies. Kung Lao's not in the 90s. Am I tripping? Yeah, you're tripping. He's not in the late 90s movies. But yeah. To be fair, Kung Lao always be getting killed in the games, too. I know. He's literally the wharf of uh Mortal Kombat for any Star Wars or Star Trek fans out there. I'm just saying the truth. Because if you need to show off like a character to be strong, but you need them to lose, uh have them fight Kung Lao. Kung Lao's gonna lose, and then they'll bring him back in like four games. Like I said, they'll bring him back in the next game. Uh, I mean, he is a fan favorite, so he's a better character, dude. He's a better character than Lucane. I will say though, I loved seeing how well they adapted the moves. Like, if a character did a move in a game. Oh, they did it there. Dude, the stance, like me and Mystical was talking, like the stances, dude. Golly. Yeah, like the stance, the stance, the like how they had a posing and stuff, like that was pretty dope. I mean, even time when like they change the uh the aspect ratio. Yeah. So it's like when you start the fights in the uh in the character select screen, and it'll like pop off screen and you'll see that. I thought that was super cool. But go ahead, go ahead. Nah, man. I I really I mean, like I said, I have fun with this movie, dude. It it it is, it's by far a great, it's a great time. When I do, but do I think you need to go to the theater and see this? No. I like when I do my review, since I don't do half a points on my TikTok, it'll get an eight. I think it's close to an eight than a seven, but uh it'll be about a two or three flames. Because I don't think you need to run and go see this. You get what I'm saying? For watchability's sake, yeah, yeah. And I'd also add, like, a thing against this movie, too, because it is so like fan specific, yeah, people might feel a little left out of the movie if they haven't played the games. I mean, yeah, I mean, but like I said, I don't think you'll get lost watching. If you watch the first one to come watch this one, I don't think you'll get lost, you know? Yeah, no, I agree with that. I also think the other other part of it is because the fight is, you know, so intense, it is it's kind of incredible that they're able to pull off like as many good fights. Because I think Liu Kang versus Kung Lao is the best fight in the movie. But then like I don't know what I got at second, because like Jax kind of gets I don't know, man. I like the I like the opening fight. Oh, with them and the like when he's fighting the king. That's I mean, hey, that's fair. I get that one. I think you could also throw in because Sonya fights kind of whatever. I mean, honestly, if you're gonna kill somebody off, it could have been Stony Blade. Yeah, I mean, we we talk about the acting in this movie. It ain't great. But I just pissed somebody off. Yeah. But like I said, man, the movie is not a bad movie. Definitely, if you're a fan of the games, you're gonna love it. I think it's a step above the the I think like a few steps above the first one. Which I don't hate the first one. I just hate I think the first one had a lot of cool moments. I hear a lot of people bagging on the first because it didn't have a tournament in it, but that's no point. I can't. I mean, I can't talk about the tournament. I can't I don't think the tournament's dealt with super great here. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But I mean, if you think I'm tripping, tell me I'm wrong. Am I tripping, Anthony?
SPEAKER_01No, you're not. I think I think I feel like they could have done more of a tournament style. Like, this is something they could have pulled from the original Mortal Kombat movie. You get what I'm saying? Yeah. Like, I I think the like the tournament kind of feels like an afterthought in this movie, which is wild because you know, Mortal Kombat. He figured the tournament, the games are named after would be like the most important thing going on, but like Johnny Cage and and Katana have a fight, and it's it's whatever. Like, I'm like, okay, I mean, like, what was the point of like building him up being in the tournament then? You know, because he's just there and then he loses and he's out and he doesn't fight the tournament anymore. And I'm like, oh, I mean, okay, I guess. Like that feels a smidge anticlimactic. Yeah, I mean, but I think the build-up to the tournament, like the tournament, like I my big another gripe I have is just after the initial opening, everything just starts happening. You hear what I'm saying? Yeah, I felt that too. Yeah, like at the beginning, I I mentioned this, that's why I gave it a 7.5. That's another reason I gave it like a 7, 7.5. Is because it there's no like real buildup. You literally go from Katana's origin story and Shao Kahn's origin story, then now we're here with Johnny Cage. You know what I'm saying? No, the story you you're you're you're up there with raiding them, now you're here with Johnny Cage, and now they're trying to get Johnny. Like it's just it's just it just starts happening. Pacing could have been a little bit better here. Now, see pacing at the beginning of this, this is why I was telling you, like, I think the pacing in Mario Galaxy was not that bad. The beginning pacing here could could use a little more season. This movie, this movie. This movie could benefit from another 20 minutes. Like in like a solid 20 minutes too. Like let it breathe. Just let it breathe. Because again, like Mortal Kombat is literally the tournament they're fighting in. And like, like the tournament itself just again, like, doesn't feel like it matters. I mean, they it that's that's where I say this shit needed more room to breathe. They give you the little icons and everything, but I mean, outside of that, it doesn't do anything else, you know. Yeah, and then even then that was like, well, shit. Yeah. Why is that even here? I just feel like I wish it kind of had that flare of the uh first movie tournament, but I think they went more towards the video games. That's that's where they were, they literally went more towards the video games. Whereas the first Mortal Kombat movie felt more like Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon. I don't know if you've ever seen that movie or not. No, but I know what it is. Yeah, this felt more like a Mortal Kombat video game come to life, but I just wish they fixed that pacing. That's that's it, man. But yeah. But yeah, man, I mean was this just me or did Johnny Cage's character arc also feel pretty much. Yeah, I mean, we don't get much, we don't we don't get much of it. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, like it, I don't know. Again, yeah, it's mildly misleading if you haven't seen this yet, but Katana is more the the main character here than than Johnny Cage. Yeah, we said that. I don't know. I was just like, you know, just want to mean a ring. Yeah, yeah, but like it's just I mean false advertisement, I guess. Yeah, I mean very again, still fun, still entertaining, has some good functions. But um I'm ready for these movies to put Luke in the forefront, though. Yeah, it should I do think he should have been the main character. But he's dead now, so yeah. At least we think he's dead.
SPEAKER_00No, he's dead.
SPEAKER_01That motherfucker dead.
SPEAKER_00I'm sorry, I guess he was sipping on water.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, man. But yeah, no, hey, but like, I do appreciate it again. I'm getting the moves in here, getting the fatalities in here, getting the actual I don't necessarily think if there's a bad casting, as much as there's there's some bad performances. I mean, what would you say bad performances? I mean, outside I I didn't care for Sonya, but uh what what would be a bad performance? Sonia, like I mean, cause I'm I'm not gonna say I'm not gonna say bad she's just generic, yeah. I think it's very generic. Very dramatic. I think Raiden, Raiden would be another performance I was like underwhelmed by. Yeah, he was pretty meh. All in all. I also think once his face was pretty pretty hit or miss. Not Jack's Kwang Chi. But not because his performance was bad, just because you don't get much of him. Yeah, like I mean, he's he's like, we talking about the big dad of Mortal Kombat. He he don't do shit, guys. Do you want Shu Sang to be the main character of the next one? Shang Song. Yeah, Shang Shong. I mean, he was the main character of the person. I mean main villain, I mean main villain. I was gonna say the main villain of the person. Yeah, but do you want him to be the main villain in this third one? I don't know. I don't know, man. Like I said, we gotta see where this goes. That's the main thing. I like to see I like to see where this this shit goes. There's definitely some like room for like any anyone who's seen the games probably knows where this is going. But I will say I'm interested if they're gonna like like some of the things like Sonya and uh Johnny's relationship. I don't know if we're gonna get that. I don't know. We're just like the age age difference. Let me see the age difference.
SPEAKER_00But it really just depends.
SPEAKER_01Like that's that's more the big one. But I do like, I think Jack was really well, but he's just not in enough of this movie. Especially for how much of a fan. I mean, 13 year difference in real life. Okay. But uh like this. So let's let's do a hard bet right now. What's gonna be the better movie? This or Street Fighter? Street Fighter. I think Street Fighter 2. I mean Street Fighter also looks more fun. Street Fighter is my favorite fighting movie game franchise. Besides Death Jam. I mean franchise, like like legacy franchise. You get what I'm saying? But if you ask me which one I spent, I don't know, man, because I've been playing Mortal Kombat lately the last couple years. Ever since Street Fighter 4, I ain't really been messing with Street Fighter like that. But like I said, man, I'm I got high hopes for Street Fighter. I really do. That's wild because Street Fighter is you've told you've told me how much you love Street Fighter. The fact that Four is because you know that's considered one of the best games. I said after four. Oh, after four, I'm sorry. Oh, five when King got his weird ponytail no jacket. Why do you look like that, man? Um, how do you feel since we're talking on this real quick? How do you feel about the casting in the new one? Oh, I love it. I'm ready, I'm ready to see what happens. Fair, fair. I'm also very excited because the trailer, the last trailer we got, fire. Yeah, hey man. That's that's one of my favorite Jean-Claude Van Damme movies. And this is obviously a big reference to Jean-Claude Van Damme. Yeah, also Barack is great. Like, love it. Yeah, Barack was good. I like they went the silly route instead of the serious route. Yeah, I do appreciate he was like uh a little less I will eat your face, and now he's more like I will eat your face, but like with someone. Yeah, I said that man, I made a reference when I was talking to Mystical. Oh yeah. I said they did the whole seal thing with John, they turned Johnny Cage into Usopp. Aikaramba guy's about to attack the One Piece community. No, I'm not. I'm just saying they turned Johnny Cage into Usopp. Yeah, I see what you're saying. He's he's the made him kind of a joke. Yeah, and then he uh he he did he does nothing but tell lies the whole time. That is fair. I mean, and they do play into that because they are like, you're an actor, man. So act. And he's like, okay. And then at the end, he's sitting at the damn fire lying, you know what I mean? Yeah, that's fair.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's they do oosop him.
SPEAKER_01I'm sorry, I was blinking on, I was like, what was I gonna say? Character design. Yeah, bro, dude. Yeah, yeah. Costume, the costume and and character size, bro. It looked great. Like, was there anyone who you didn't like? No, I think I'm just I'm just waiting on them to give my boy Kano his medal, all right. Yeah, I I was a little sad that he didn't have his. Yeah, I was a little upset about that, but yeah. But I hey, you know, they were throwing in alternate costumes. Like Luke's got like his white and red, which was pretty sick. I'll be honest, I thought uh like Katana looks great, but I like part of me wishes Shao Kahn had the half helmet. I don't know if I'm I'm alone on that hill, but I don't know, man. I I I think everybody looks good though. Yeah, I dude. Well Anthony, you want to tell uh you want to tell our people what you did with your adult money when you went to see this movie? I bought a popcorn bucket. What you mean? Yeah, what was that popcorn bucket of? Shotgun and helmet. It was uh it's pretty fire, bro. They didn't have the the theater you went to? No, they did, but uh I was like, man, I can't I can't I can't spend money on it, but I'm gonna think about it. Yeah, it's I want to get the regal one. The regal one is the head. That's what I want. What's the regal one? It's the shellcomb, but it's like all metal. Oh, that's sick. Yeah, that's that's why I said I want the regal. Also, guys, any if there's anyone out there who is like filthy rich and just wants to buy up popcorn buckets, please. Please, yeah. I would greatly appreciate it. Yeah, Anthony's out here dropping all his money on uh, you know, these Loomis and Chowcons and I love popcorn buckets, alright? Hey, I'm right there with you. Uh yeah, I ain't I ain't I ain't judging. I'm just saying. Because man, I got a lot of them I love too. I don't know. Recent years, I don't know. Maybe I'm a I'm a I'm gonna die on this hill. But like, if it's just me or if popcorn buckets gotten way better. I mean I mean last good I mean last 10 years popcorn bucket is accepted game, but yeah, like I mean Yoshi was great, the chainsaw man was really cool. I like this this one, the Shao Kahn one, I really like. Yeah, I don't I don't know if they've been out in Street Fighter yet, but No, can't wait to see it though. What do you want it to be? I don't know, bro. I really don't know. Maybe a glove Yeah, reuse glove is fun. Yeah. Or I was thinking I thought about this was it beat up Car. Yeah, I was gonna say blink him on his name, the Lightning Dude. Baraka? Not Baraka, Blanca. Yeah, Blanca, there we go. I kept thinking Baraka. I was like, yeah, I think like a Blanca head, I'd be pretty down for. That'd be pretty dumb. Oh, I asked Mystical this weekend. Blanca versus Baraka, who wins? I gotta go Blanca. I don't know. Poor Baraka's gonna have a rough day, man. I think Blanca's gonna have a rough day.
SPEAKER_00That's a fight I wanna see.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Blanca's electric. Baraka's just got bones. Yeah, yeah. Bones, spurs, he can shoot, son. He can play when he doesn't. You do got a gnarly mouth. I'm telling you, both of them do. I think that that's I think that's the fight that nobody, I don't know if anybody has talked about then. Has Dead Battle done that? Street Fighter Pikachu. No. First of all, Pikachu didn't exist, okay?
SPEAKER_00Uh 19, yeah, I guess he I guess he had me.
SPEAKER_01I forget how old Street Fighter is. To be fair, I forget how old Mortal Kombat is. But Anthony, we we seem like we're rambling. Oh, we're gonna get out of here. This is the thing. Baraka versus Blanca. Hey, did not know that. But Death Battle has not done it. But yeah, man. But guys, we're gonna get up out of here. Street Fighter 2, let us know. I mean, Street Fighter 2, look at that. Mortal Kombat 2. Mortal Kombat 2. Let us know what you think. If you saw it, or you plan on seeing it, let us know who your favorite Mortal Kombat character is. And guys, that's another edition of One Take Real Talk. And it was in One Take. One shot. Keep it real. Keep it real. Peace. Peace.
