This is an ass-kicking edition of One Take, Real Talk on Movies, Games, and Anthony's new favorite action movie. He's just in denial to admit it. Possibly pop culture. But anyway, yeah, man. So I saw this movie. We're going to review a movie today, guys. And I saw I got the privilege to see this movie damn near, what, about a month ago, damn near down almost. And John just saw it yesterday. I didn't know. I don't know anything about how John feels about it. We normally call each other and tell each other a one-sentence how we feel about it. So without further John knows how I feel about this, guys. If you haven't seen my TikTok review, if you have, you know how I feel about it. John? So without giving us a score, because we'll do that later, the movie in question, the movie in question is The Furious. It's a Kung Fu action movie that is about a guy whose daughter is kidnapped and another guy whose wife goes missing. And in a their separate journeys lead them together to work together to find their loved ones. So, John, overall, what did you think about this movie that I love? Honestly, without bullshitting. I'm gonna let you start, Anthony, because you're not gonna like what I have to say.

If I was fucking insane. Exactly. I was like, dude, come on now. Yeah, yeah, no, no. This this shit was fantastic. From from the from the get-go, right? Yeah, I mean from the word jump. It was just, I'm telling you. Do you do do you want to get the negatives out of the way first? I I personally There's so few. That's what I'm saying. I personally don't have that many. I don't, I think the only thing that I could gripe on is that the story isn't an original. Like it when I say it's not original, it's something that we've seen done many a times. And but like I said, that's the only thing that I can really think of. What negatives do you have? There's a couple line deliveries that's a little awkward. I mean, dude, that that mean, but like that it's cheesy. I love cheese. To me, okay, so this movie is cheesy in the best way. It's serious in the best way, it's ass-kicking in the best way. The fact that more people aren't talking about this movie is crazy to me. That's how I feel about this movie, dude. This movie is possibly my favorite action. I'm not even gonna lie, because it's an easier watch than The Raid, because the Raid's pacing is a little slower. And that's not saying this is a better movie than The Raid. This movie is high octane for an hour and a half. Am I tripping, John? Um, done. The first 15 minutes. Yeah. Did I, but what did I say? I said the beginning of this movie sets the tone for the type of movie this is. No, yeah, yeah, no. So I walked in when I walked into the theater yesterday. I I I do not mean this hyperbolic you hyperbolically, when I walked in literally as the credits had just started. Sit down, got my good old movie snacks and a little drink with me. And I'm sitting there. He reclined. I did recline. I actually moved Steve's because my first recliner was broken, and I was not sitting in a broken recliner. This is true. Go ahead. And I was like, huh. Okay, so I'm like, and and let's preface by like, I am not as deep in in this genre as Anthony is when it comes to There's two genres that I trump this man on, and it's Westerns and Kung Fu movies. Yeah, like not even close. Yeah, not even close. I mean, he got me, he I think he has a deeper lore with horror than I do. And I think more arts, not artsy movies, but he he goes see more obscure movies than I will. He'll give movies more of a cheer. But go ahead. I'd say action, I've also got him Trump. I don't think about I don't know about I don't know about that one. I don't know. You got me traveling on action. I think we're pretty even on action. But yeah, this show was from from the get-go. I was like, okay, okay. Oh, oh, they just did that without spoiling it. Uh we'll get into spoilers later. But uh yeah, yeah, they just did that. Oh, we definitely touching no spoilers in this one. I will let you guys know when we because I have to discuss this movie that way. But guy, listen, John, you seen my rating on my TikTok. Did I embellish my rating? No. I'm telling you, like, dude. So critics have been saying this is the best action movie of the decade. Yeah. I'm willing to say it's the best movie of the decade. I'm telling you, bro, like this went over. Let me guys, we've seen a bunch of movies this year. This went over, for me, Project Hail Mary, which is a fucking great movie. This went over Send Hill. This went over a lot of other movies that I enjoyed this year. And golly, bro, this is the most fun I've had with a movie all year. And went into it. I mean, like Anthony. I didn't even know what the fuck I was watching. How about you tell us how you went into this movie? Because line is a bit of an understatement. So, like I didn't, so I ended up getting an AMC on screen unseen, not knowing what I was going to watch. So I went and looked and seen what was coming out because that's the only thing you can do, and you can go by the runtime. AMC does not release the accurate runtime for what you're watching. So you have to match the runtime to the upcoming movies that come out within the next three, three weeks or so. All right. So I found three movies. It was either going to be Carolina, Caroline. Still got to watch that one. It was going to be the furious or it was going to be the Power Ballad. Couldn't be Power Ballot. Power Ballot's coming out week of. So it came down to Carolina, Caroline, and it came down to the Furious. I told John, I was like, hey man, I kind of want to watch The Furious, but if it's Carolina, Caroline, I'm not mad. Went into this not knowing what the hell I was watching. Fucking loved it. Loved every fucking minute of it. The third act in this shit is fucking ridiculous. John, the third act. What'd you think? Shit went on for like 20 minutes. I was like, how? How? What are you doing? What are you doing? You just did that. Bro, this shit was fucking amazing, right? We're trying not to spoil things. Alright, alright. So guys, listen. The Furious, you have to go see this movie. Like, if you don't, listen, I'm buying this movie. Like, when I say I'm buying this movie, I'm buying this movie. I got, I got to have, I got to own this movie. The same way I own The Raid, the same way I own Old Boy, the same way I own Kill Bill, the same, like I'm rebuying Kill Bill, the new version where both of them run together. Like, I have to own this movie. Like, I love this movie. My wife loved this movie. Like, this movie is that damn good. Like, dead serious. Like, all right, but anyway, like, guys. Well, Anthony, before we get into that, I think maybe you should preface by saying what your top three Kung Fu movies for anyone who has a senior technical. I literally just said this. Like, the raid, okay, so my like, listen, the raid and the raid, the raid redemption and raid two are my number one. Kill Bill 1 and 2 are my number two. Because the reason I put them there, the movies and the sequels together, because it's a complete story. And if The Furious gets a sequel, and if it's half as good, half as good as this one. Meaning, if that bitch comes out and it's a five, I'm putting it there too. So, and then number three is old boy. And let that do do with that information what you will. And then if I had to go into like top five, it would be like OnBach. You get into like Enter the Dragon or Big Boss. Like, I go on for days with this shit. Like dead series. But yeah, like, dude, I I love this movie. Like, I really did. Like, I really loved this movie. And then, like, I mean, just to talk about the action, because you know, it is so well choreographed. It is so intense. And you'll be able to speak a little more on the homaging that they did here. I caught some of them. But yeah, so like this movie pays homage to so much. Like, there's a there's a there's there's a couple scenes where they pay homage to the raid. There's a couple of scenes where they pay homage to Ib Man. There's a couple scenes where they pay homage to Kill Bill. There's I mean they pay homage to there's a whole homage to fucking old boy, like twice, I believe. There's there's some Jean-Claude Van Dam homages. Jackie Chan is all over this. Like, man, like dude, I this is a love letter to everything martial arts and conclude. It's it's high octane, it's stressful. The analogy I used in my review on Tic Tac is it's all gas, no breaks. They they they ripped the break right off of this movie, and I thank God that they did. This movie is phenomenal in every sense of the fucking word. I promise you. So, like, I'm telling you guys, I can't listen. I said in my review, this is not hype. This is not me overselling. Like, I'm telling you, this movie is that damn good. And it's and it knows it's that damn good. There's not one time I looked at my watch, like, damn, how long is this gonna go on? It no, and I mean, like, at worst, I guess if you're absolutely gonna harp the harps of pacing, oh, well, the action starts and then it doesn't stop. Okay, it's all good. So it doesn't get it. Yeah, it doesn't choreography, bro. Chef's kiss, bro. Like, every you feel every punch, every throw, every thud, like ever like dude, you feel everything in this movie. And go ahead. It would be one thing if it fell over the top and was kind of jarring. Yeah, and it does get over the top, right? Like it's a concrete action movie. Of course it is. But the way it also manages to still feel kind of grounded. Yes. But I was like, whoa. I'm telling you, right? Like the fucking top of your head. Everything you thought you knew, the way the raid blew my mind when I first watched it, it felt like that. That's exactly how this felt. Like when I left the theater, I wanted to turn around. You you know that scene where I don't know what movie it is. I think it's it's The Simpsons. And Grandpa Simpson walks in and walks right back out and walks back in. That's exactly how I wanted to do leaving the theater. I literally wanted to leave the theater, walk right back in, and watch this movie. It would like it's so strong. Like, and and then on top of being like, you know, some top-tier choreography, like, and you and me have talked a lot about something like that being something we value in action movies, like we want the action to be something cool and dynamic to look at. Damn right. And and like, not one time did the shit feel repetitive. No, and you know, like I hope this is is a little bit auspicious for action movies moving forward. Because, dude, like if this is the standard, and I forget the guy's name, I Kaiji something was the dude who directed it. And yeah, like, bro, just give this guy the keys to the kingdom right now. I need to see him make more. More, more, bro. I need more. Sorry. Kenji Tanagaki. Listen, this guy, listen, bro, listen to me. When I tell you my my big three has changed, and I don't know which the way I'm gonna put. I don't know if I don't know, bro, because I feel like I gotta watch it one more time before I can replace the raid. I know it goes over old boy. I know it goes over old boy. And I don't know if it beats the raid and kill Bill just because of sentimental value. You get what I'm saying? That's that's that's that's but damn. It's like that's what dude, I feel like a fiend itching for a hit just to watch it, bro. I literally when's the last time you got a mute protagonist, bro, and it works. It fucking works. Because, like, bro, I literally if the the like so here's my p here's my thing for the sequel. If they if we if this movie is great as a standalone, doesn't need a sequel. Doesn't I'm not saying it's not gonna get one, not saying it doesn't deserve one, doesn't need a sequel. If it gets one, the storyline should be more into how he got mute. It insinuates, it in the movie it we'll touch on it more in spoilers. It insinuates how he became mute, it shows something and and it insinuates why he's mute, right? So I would like the more of that, like more of the past comes back type deal. You know what I'm saying? But I don't want taken two. Taken is such a good action movie. We don't need taken two and three. You get what I'm saying? Or four and twenty two. Yeah. See, what what made the raid two work, and it it it wasn't in another building. It wasn't, it wasn't in another fucking, it wasn't even another raid. It was, it's it's by far the best undercover action movie. I know you love, I know you love that, I know the Fast and the Furious, and I know that Johnny Utah exists. I know this. But the raid is by far one of the best, if not the best, undercover pop infiltrating a criminal under like underworld movie there is. So Anthony's actually saying something that I thought I would have hated. But it's okay, because I'm good with that statement. Yeah, I'm I'm all I'm saying is what it diff like so the raid two differed from the original, but for a reason. You have to know, you know what I'm saying? You have to watch the first one and get the second one to make a complete story. There's a reason we don't have a raid three, and it's okay. This one, I would love that the raid treatment here. I will love, I don't need his daughter getting kidnapped. I don't need that. You get what I'm saying? Let's go in another different direction. Let's make his past come back and haunt him, or something like of those. You know what I'm saying? Something like that. You know, you wanna know what's crazy? You wanna know what's crazy? Not to cut you off. Um, you realize it's the first time we just brought up the plot of the movie? No, I I said what happened. I said what happened when we first started. Yeah, I don't know. I feel like we've been glazed it so much I forgot that there was a story to this. Yeah, but like, the but like the thing about the story, it isn't lackluster. It isn't, it's well acted. It is, it's well acted. I think the story is just something that we've seen before, so it isn't the first thing that comes to mind. Anthony, we're Dragon Ball fans. Less is more. It is, it is less is fucking more. Right, and this is the definition of like it knows its audience, yeah, it knows what it's trying to do, it knows what it's trying to be. And it catered. All right, so so so so so listen, all right. So before we get into spoilers, because we gotta get into spoilers because we got a whole second segment. John, you know what I'm gonna rank this. This is a great fucking piece of art you have to watch in theaters. There's a reason this movie didn't drop below 100% until two weeks after the movie came out. You know, I do I do want to know, I want to know. I always love it. It's like a 97. It's like a 97 right now. No, no, no. But I always want to know. So I look at movies like this, right? And it's like, you know, you'll see Jurassic Park with like a 93, you'll see stuff like this, right? Yeah. What what are these three percent of people that dislike this movie say? If you have a wife, if your wife is pregnant and she's about to have a baby, go watch this movie. It's more important than that. I'll tell you, um this is great. They entailed a man with a hammer. And I think that helped this movie be a 10. Yeah, like it was a good hour and a half of nothing but action. Exactly. And like, and the story wasn't stupid, you know what I mean? No, I'm gonna tell you like this. How often in this movie, well, no, actually, this is a two-hour movie, bro. Yeah, no, this is a two-hour movie. Yeah, hour and 54 minutes. So we keep saying an hour and a half, but anyway, it's a two-hour movie that felt like an hour and a half. That's fucked up. You know what I'm saying? Like, that's crazy, right? That's fucking crazy. And then not only to do it so well, yeah, like not only to come in and be this unbelievable, fucking impeccably well done action flick, but then to turn the fuck around. And the moment I knew it was something special was when Anthony told me, Oh, I got to go see the movie early, and then the official raid TikTok account followed my page. Yeah. Well, no, the furious, the furious, yeah, yeah, yeah. The furious. I'm sorry, the furious. They liked, commented, and followed me. Yeah. Excuse me, what is when I knew this was a passion project made by people who were more than excited to talk about their movie. Yeah, bro. I love this movie, dude. I ain't gonna lie. And a lot of people are turned off by that. I personally don't give a fuck. You know what I'm saying? So this swaps between Mandarin and English, like, bro, like seamlessly. They shot it like that, and it's fucking beautiful. Yeah, and like, dude, just again, bro. Like the fact that it is not only got you know, this this 10 out of 10 fucking action, but the stakes stick because I you know, we're in spoilers now. You guys, bro. Yeah, but you don't know, you don't know who the fuck is gonna live or die. Right? Like that that's a huge thing. Yeah, because you're like, holy shit, like, dude, they literally knock off a whole fucking police department. And you're just like, what the fuck? Probably picking up two, because I'm gonna keep one sealed. Dude, this movie better come with some sick ass box art. I'm picking up 4K. I'm being dead as I might buy a new TV just to watch it all. So I think that's like the second or third of this one. This is the first shootout. Not when Django comes back at the red suit. And then you get the extra little swing on the way they use color, whether it's you know, when he's winning, it's it's green or blue, or when he's losing, it's red or purple. So the way they'll use color to like signify what's happening to someone, the fact that the scene is like six minutes long, it's super long. It's got oh, so many great action set pieces, some great kills, some exceptional gunplay, and also just like Keanu Reeves being a badass. I mean, Keanu Reeves being Keanu Reeves, yeah. Also, I you know, man, a man kicking ass in a suit. There's something about it. It's just badass. Yeah, it is. I cannot wait, cannot wait for the John Wick game to come out. That that's I am in the actual John Wick game. Yeah. John Wick's also, I don't know if I've ever told you this. He's my number one pick for a guest character in Mortal Kombat. But I'm going with the fight of all fights. I think it's probably the best fight that you could probably watch on screen. And it's none other than The Bride versus the Crazy 88 from Kill Bill Volume 1. That was my other guess. I was like, if it's not one of those, it's a Tarantino movie. Yes. And this is Tarantino's best use of blood. Best use of camp. It's his best use of everything that is Tarantino. Well shot. What I love about the new the whole bloody affair is that it isn't in black and white. But even though there's something about me when I watch it, is that I miss the black and white. It's so gory, so bloody, so raw. And then it leads to one of the best samurai fights, even though it's not a samurai fight, but it is. Like of all time, like standoffs. Like, dude, it is such, it's such a good fucking moment. It is. She takes on like the whole 88. You got so many iconic moments. Like the movie is, I mean, that scene itself, her in paying homage to Bruce Lee with the yellow and black jumpsuit. It's such a cool, badass.

And I'll give you Ripley could be number one, but I don't think I don't think alien movies are as good as Kill Bill movies. Also, guys, Anthony doesn't really like the alien movies in general. That's that's the only thing that hurts Ripley for me. Yeah, that's serious. I think when it comes to being badass, the bride is more badass than them because she does more of the heavy lifting. Sarakana gets saved in the first movie. Sarakana gets saved in the second movie. Sarakana does get does do saving in the third movie. I'm just saying. I'm also still waiting for this man to catch up on Jiu-Jitsu Kaisen because I told him there's a whole Kill Bill episode and he's yet to watch it.
