Anthony and John with special guest Monkey D.Sharn go over Anthony’s current journey in one piece. And they rate the arcs
What's going on, guys? I am the Black Sheep Anthony C. And I am the big John V from South Carolina all the way to Cali. This is One Piece edition of One Real Take. One take real talk on the Friends, the Journey, and the One Piece that we did not find along the way. Because that shit's still not fucking found.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But today, guys, we got a special guest again, reoccurring, our boy Monkey D Sean. Oh well. Yeah. So, guys, this was just generally a conversation we were having because I am on my One Piece journey and currently in Thriller Bark. And these guys want to know what I think of One Piece so far. So we were having a conversation. We're like, hey, why not report the conversation? We did get to where we get to yet, guys.
SPEAKER_01We got to variety.
SPEAKER_00It stopped.
SPEAKER_01So it was like no.
SPEAKER_00What we'll do is we'll go back over where we what we thought of each arc and catch catch our viewers up. And we're we're not going to go crazy in depth. John has the notes. He was actually writing this down, thank God. And we're going to go arc by arc. And then after Baradier, we'll start from there. Oh, and then we all have to say one nice thing about each other. Oh, yeah. So we got to give a rating, one through five. Yes, it's a 0.5 system. So 0 to 5. And we got to say at least one nice thing about an arc, even if we don't like it. But but John, tell us what each one of us rated from. Go through the arcs and tell us what we rated. Okay. Starting with Romance 9.
SPEAKER_01I have Anthony at a 3.5. I have myself at a four. And I have Sean at a three.
SPEAKER_00Excuse me. Three. Okay. Sean had it at a four, you had it at three, and I got it at a what?
SPEAKER_01Wait. I I had it at four. Sean had it at three. You had a three point five.
SPEAKER_00Okay. And do you remember you didn't write down what we said about it, right?
SPEAKER_01Uh, I mean, I can probably one-sentence summary if you guys want to, or if you guys want to like one sentence to be.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. What did you what did what was your what did you like about the dark?
SPEAKER_01For me, dude, it's just like, you know, I think Luffy's introduction in the backstory is great. I think Luffy's introduction in the barrel is awesome. I think the character writing here is really good. It's just held back by some really subpar villains. And it's obviously super early in, so it's kind of hard for this to be the best of the best.
SPEAKER_00That was that was more than one sentence, but okay. Sean, what was your what was your favorite thing about this art?
SPEAKER_02Probably just Luffy's backstory.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I think that's like the consensus with all of us. I think the backstory was like the shine. The best part of this art, I love his relationship with Shanks. I love how Luffy got the hat. I think Luffy's stabbing himself in the face to prove how tough he is. Also, Shanks giving his arm for Luffy. I think that's a dope moment. And the fact that I I I believe I ranked it higher than Sean shocked the shit out of me. I ain't gonna lie to you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm I'm I'm actually still shocked. I didn't think I was gonna rank this higher than Sean. Alright. I mean, for me. Also, if you guys are curious, that is because Sean is our resident one piece glazer. We love you, Sean.
SPEAKER_03I wouldn't say that. It's just a big other anime that I put over One Piece, and One Piece is a very phenomenal story. I just have other animes that are just have a better story that I enjoy versus One Piece.
SPEAKER_00Alright.
SPEAKER_03So uh we'll defend One Piece when it is needed.
SPEAKER_00So, alright, what's next? What's next, John?
SPEAKER_01Alright, next up we got Orange Town. And guys, if you need a quick little clarification, romance dawn is everything up until Zorro joins the crew and they leave. Orange Town is everything where interact with Nami and Boogie.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, and shout out to Kobe. That's like my favorite character outside of Zorro that gets love in the romance dawn. So re-refresh on those scores. What was the scores again?
SPEAKER_01All right. Starting at the top, we had Anthony at a 2.5.
unknownA 2.
SPEAKER_012.5? Yeah, the 2.5 for Orange Town.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, no, no, no. I'm talking about the the scores for the other one.
SPEAKER_01Oh, Romance Dawn? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_013.5, 4, and 3.
SPEAKER_00So we'll call it a 3.5 average.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I can I can live with that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, 3.5 average. All right, that'll work. I thought I liked it on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, hey man, I like I like I like romance now.
SPEAKER_00It's just yeah, it's a good introduction. Yeah. Especially hindsight doesn't hurt it as well, too.
SPEAKER_01So now now Orangetown 2.5 for Anthony. Excuse me. I had it, I had it at a three. Sean also had it at a three.
SPEAKER_00So we got it. Isn't that what Uso? No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no. Orangetown is what Buggy is. Buggy. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, yeah. Sorry. Yeah, yeah. That's what Buggy, and that's where you meet Buggy, you meet Nami. And like I said, it to me, it's it's a it's an okay arc. I think Buggy's powers, like I said, is like the you get to meet Buggy, you get to see his powers and stuff, and you get to meet Nami. I think those are like the two things, but like it's nothing very memorable about that arc. I think it's I that's why I say it's an okay arc. I get that's why I gave it out of five, it's a 2.5, it's very okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I it's just if that's good for me, just bad pacing. I don't like the way it's it's told in this really encumbered nature, but Buggy is entertaining and the fights are all pretty separate. Also, I think Shushu is one of the most unnecessary characters of all time. Alright. Sean.
SPEAKER_04I give it a three.
SPEAKER_03I didn't even just think it's an it's an alright arc. I mean, I just like I feel like Buggy kind of just carries the rest of it. Him starting up the little secondary crew with Albeda is pretty good. I mean, I'll stick to a three. I mean, Buggy's just a really good rival that Luffy needed. And he and he continues to be one even farther in the same way.
SPEAKER_00I'm still a thriller bark, so don't spoil nuts for me.
SPEAKER_01This is the first devil fruit on devil fruit action we ever see.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um that's back when they were supposed to be rare. That when it's supposed to be rare. Yeah, well, we'll get to that. All right, but um, but so that's the average of three, right? Well, I'm saying that's back like three, right? That's the average of three. Yeah, average of three. All right.
SPEAKER_01All right. Surah Village, Usopp's Ark. You can start, Sean. Anthony. You can start. You can start. Oh, do you do you know we don't need to give the scores? We want to surprise people.
SPEAKER_00I mean, yeah, you could you could just start. Because I think you like this art more than me and Sean.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, this is a you know, contender for worst arc in one piece.
SPEAKER_00I don't think it's a contender. I think it's it it it it holds it proudly. It holds that proudly, it holds that title proudly.
SPEAKER_01It is so slow, it's so boring. The fights are whatever, the villains are whatever, and like there's not even like a great emotional moment here that you could like tie it to and be like, oh man, that was such a great moment.
SPEAKER_00You're just like, oh yeah, that was Sir Village, alright.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I mean for me as for one good thing, Usan joins the crew.
SPEAKER_00For me, that's a terrible yeah, that's a terrible tape. But uh for me, it's it's it's not good at all. The pacing is trash. I I think me and you were talking about this last night, John, because we we were talking about how long this arc was, and I felt like this arc was like 20 episodes and it's only 10, and that's sad to say the villains or whatever, the the fights are whatever, and this is where I discovered that Luffy is out of the episodes, out of the arc for like three episodes at a time, because it happened in orange, then it happened again here, and I'm like, damn, they did it again because he gets stuck under a pillar. You know, this is where that recurring thing started to happen again. It's just like I said, it's not a good arc. The best thing I could say, they get to go and marry.
SPEAKER_01All right, Sean.
SPEAKER_00Hold on, Sean. What'd you say?
SPEAKER_01I said, I feel like I'm gonna have to defend Usopp throughout this.
SPEAKER_00Alright, Sean, it's your turn.
SPEAKER_03I don't think you want an answer, man. I'll be I'll be completely honest.
SPEAKER_01The audience deserves to know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the audience in the entirety of One Piece. Usopp is garbage. The only good thing that I can honestly say about this is that I felt for that little girl. I forgot her name. And they saved her.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, this art, this art doesn't become relevant until Warter said it. That's all I'm gonna say.
SPEAKER_01Alright, uh, just real quick recap for the uh the ratings.
unknownSean.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, you give it your you can give them with yours. You might want to start with the highest point.
SPEAKER_01Mine was 1.5. Anthony had a 0.5, and only because let Sean have a zero, it says 0.5.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so the average is a 0.5. Give it a zero, it'll be a zero. Yeah, we're gonna give it an average of 0.5. This is terrible art.
SPEAKER_01Alrighty. Okay, now on to the new stuff. We are on to Baradier. This was where we were at before we got on air.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, this is this is literally where we were talking, and we're like, hey, let's just start recording. So, okay, so guys, we rotate in and out also when we're talking about a new subject, so it doesn't feel like the first the same person is starting. So where were we at on this? We didn't even get ratings, all right?
SPEAKER_01Okay. No, no, no, no. All right, uh Sean's off. Yeah, yeah, Sean.
SPEAKER_00This is Sean's art. Yeah, this is Sean's art. We need someone to defend Sonji. No, I about to say, because it was I was supposed to start this when I passed Sean. Yeah, this is Sean's favorite character.
SPEAKER_03Okay, well, I mean overall, I I I would personally give it a four. I mean characters are good, backstories for each one of the characters are good. The story pretty much holds up. The the villain is a little lackluster, so uh I would give it a four.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I think me personally, I think this is one of the better backstories in One Piece. I wish it would after watching it and then finding out the roary detail of the real backstory. Like, yeah, it the lore of the backstory, even like, golly, it makes it even better. I love the backstory. I love Sanji's persona before he becomes like an overall pervert. I love that he's a he can kick ass. I love that he loves to feed people, he loves, he's all about respect. I think it's one of the best ships that we see in the show. I'm trying to think. The only thing I hold against this arc is Don Creed. I I just don't like Don Creed as a villain. I think he's one of the worst villains. One of the worst, not the worst. I'm gonna say that. Because by far, he's better than he's better than anything we've seen in Surrett Village. I think he's better than Alvira. I think he's better than a couple other people we're gonna talk about. But I he's just he's just average. You know what I mean? He's just he just doesn't he's not he's not memorable. He's like he doesn't do anything to stand out. The the biggest villain thing that happens there is Zoro getting his ass whooped.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but yeah, honestly, that that uh well I'll save it, I'll save it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, because that that I forgot, I completely forgot about that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's the biggest thing that happens there, and then him and him telling Luffy the best thing that happened in that arc is that I mean outside of like Sanji's backstory, is it's that and then Zoro telling Luffy not to give up on him, and then he promised he would never lose again. That right there, I was like, okay, I get it. I get why people like this show. I get why people I get the bond. You know what I'm saying? I get I get it, you know what I'm saying? That that was a good moment. That was a good moment. John, you're next. Alrighty.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I think Aradier is at this point the strongest part of East Blue, which is a pretty good example of One Piece's inconsistency problems. And this is this is a strong work. I think it's got a great backstory with Sanji. I think it's got some of the better fights in East Blue, not that that's a high part of clear. And Don Creek's pretty lackluster on the bright side. I do think this has probably the best fight at this point in One Piece with Zoro and Mihawk. And I think honestly, like that Mihawk stuff might be the best part of this arc, but I'd have to probably give it to Sanji's backstory just with you know how emotional it is, and the way this one organically flows into the next with Arlong with Nami's dealing with there's a lot of good stuff here.
SPEAKER_00Um, so that would be and let's not forget about Sanji kicking that Marines dude's ass. The introduction of Sanji kicking his ass. That was a good moment. Yeah, I forgot about that. Hey, man, see Sean. Hey, but what are we rating it? Yeah, well, Sean, what's your rating? I'll stick with a four. Sean's rating it a four. John, what are you rating it?
SPEAKER_01He he's holding himself back. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00He wants to give it a five. He you might well give it a five. I'm not mad at you. Personally, personally, I want to give it a ten. I mean, but I mean, if you I'm humble myself with the five, but Sean, but Sean, if you want to give it a five, give it a five, bro. I'm not mad at you for giving it a five. I'll give it a five.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna put five for him because he's gonna say it if we will.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'll give it a five. I'll give it a five. All right, what do you want to give it, Sean?
SPEAKER_01I'm going four. I think this is a great, great arc.
SPEAKER_00If we had a better villain, I think this would be a five arc. I really do. I gotta give it a four.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so what's that average out to?
SPEAKER_00About a four point five. Yeah, I think it's about a four point five. If we had a better main villain and a better fight for Luffy, I think it averages out to a five. This by far, this is what kept me going because I quit One Piece at Surf Village. This kept me going. I didn't lie.
SPEAKER_01You know what also doesn't help Surf Village? Just uh throw one more little piece of garbage at that arc. You get the the treasure island guy bond stuff.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, right after that. Yeah, we didn't even cover that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, that doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_03I completely forgot about that. And honestly, I think I think that was the arc where I kind of almost fell off of one piece.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that that whole with the weird bro. No, yeah, yeah. No, that's yeah, yeah. Yeah, because I right before they met Sanji. That is right. That is right. Yeah, because I I fell off right there, and because y'all kept asking me, where are you at? I said, I'm right there at Treasure Island. You're like, what the fuck is Treasure Island? I'm like, Yeah, I know I'm not. That's just not for me. I tried either. But uh yeah, man. But uh, what's next? Go ahead and say it. Go ahead and say it, John.
SPEAKER_01All right, we got uh to the best arc in East Blue.
SPEAKER_00The best arc in East Blue. No, I'm starting this one because I passed it. Oh, let's get the good shit. Best arc in East Blue. I'm just gonna say it. Best arc in East Blue. The reason I uh didn't quit one police, huh? I I would I would agree with you. I'm being real with you. This is the best arc in East Blue. The only complaint I have in about this arc is that I wish the fighting was better. That's it. And that's just me being a nitpick for choreography. That's it. The you got the the the storyline with John, just tell them what arc it is, John. Just tell them what arc it is.
SPEAKER_01Dude, this is Arlon Park, boy. We talked about good shit. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So this is you get you get the introduction of the best villain in in fucking East Blue. You get the introduction of probably the best sub-villains in East Blue, you get the best side characters. This is where these guys get a bounty. You get fucking the Bellamere story, uh, Nami and her sister. Like, this is this is I ain't gonna lie, I am I'm gonna say it. This is peak one piece for me. I haven't gone far. And right now, yeah, right now. Yeah, this is peak one piece for me. The only, like I said, the only gripe I have is that I wish the choreography was a little bit better and the fights were a little bit a little bit more detailed. But I have been told by more than one One Piece fan that it's just about how inexperienced they are as pirates. I will accept that answer. I will accept that answer. I love the Bellamir story, I love the story that ties together the aren't the tangerines. I love the uh the Nami being extorted, her starting to believe in Luffy. I ain't gonna lie. This this shit here kind of made me an Usopp fan. Usopp, I will say this right here. And I at the time, I thought Usopp probably had the best confrontation in this damn in on this island. And I know that's a wild take. But Usopp, Usopp with the water gun dude, with doing the firefight, Usopp stood on 10 toes. He took 10 toes down. I will say that. Go ahead and say it. Go ahead and say it.
SPEAKER_01Don't fucking walk to Arlog Park and so peak down.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Luffy. This is the first Luffy aura farming that, like, okay, this guy might be cool. He might be cool. But that's not a this this but this is but it was, but at the time, at the time, it still wasn't enough to bump Luffy up on my ladder for me. It's Zoro was still number one, Sanji was still number two. I had Luffy at like that three or four mark with Nami. Was probably number three because Nami wasn't really like part of the crew yet, really. Yeah, technically. Yeah, yeah. But I had Luffy like at number three just because of the silliness. But like him and him and Sanji for me were in it in interchangeable. Interchangeable. But go ahead, John, Deshaun. Which one, whichever one of y'all are next? Because I'll talk about Arlong part.
SPEAKER_01I'll start this one. I'll start this one, bro. This is my shit right here, bro. Arlong part is the best part of East Blue. I was gonna say by a landslide, I think it's a little closer to Baradier than maybe we're giving it credit for. But it has a great villain, it never, other than maybe a couple moments, ever has pacing problems, which is a rarity for One Piece.
SPEAKER_00And like y'all gonna notice y'all gonna notice John's gonna take a shot at One Piece any chance he gets. Let y'all notice.
SPEAKER_01I probably will. I will say that the Arlong fight is not great, but the emotional peaks here kind of make up for it. I think Nami's backstory is fantastic. I think the the majority of the even like the side fights are pretty good. I think Arlong's a great villain. I'd also even go the extra mile of, you know, when you get that first bum bum bum bum bum bum bum.
SPEAKER_00That's badass.
SPEAKER_01I don't know what that song's called.
SPEAKER_00But it's I mean, I want I do want to do this my ringtone. I think a lot of y'all it's so good, bro. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And you know, like, I think my favorite moments gotta be like that. And when not like right before it, I I include this in the same scene when Naomi's stabbing her arm. Yeah. It's it's fantastic, dude. Like, this arc is so good. This is the best part of East Blue. And I mean, like, I'm not gonna give out my rating just yet, but no, I ain't gave mine yet.
SPEAKER_00Let me know.
SPEAKER_01This is what kept me going through One Piece as well.
SPEAKER_00All right. Well, Sean, go ahead, man. Unleash the dragon.
SPEAKER_03Sean?
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, it's peak.
SPEAKER_03It was peak. I understand what you mean with the choreography of the fight. But even past that, the fight that the emotional fight that that whole scene carried out. The the Nami learning learning a lot more about Nami. It was just Peak. It was so good down to the even like the small details. Luffy actually showing like he's not just a pirate, he's a pirate with a heart. And he cares for everyone, not just just not for everybody else but for his crew. He took care of everything. He was the GOAT at that whole scene.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I mean, I guess why he was captain. I like I said, this is this is what kept me going through One Piece. This is the reason I did quit One Piece. I I can't, like, I'm not gonna sit here and say, like I said, the only I just wish, like I said, physically, I wish the fight was better. Emotionally, it could get no better. Like you're literally fighting for a girl's freedom. You're fighting for her loyalty. It's it's it's a lot at risk here. You're fighting for a loyalty, trust, and her freedom. That's that's big. I don't know if y'all are gonna cuss me out here, but I'm giving Arlan Park a 4.5. All right.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna go.
SPEAKER_00Only because, only re only not because it doesn't deserve a five. That's just me because I feel like there's one arc in here. I feel like something I but go ahead. I'm gonna I'll I I'll go ahead. I'll let y'all go ahead. Y'all wanna give it a five?
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna give it a five.
SPEAKER_00All right, I don't I'm not mad at that. I'm not mad at it. I'm not mad at that.
SPEAKER_03Nah, I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna give it a I'm gonna give it a four.
SPEAKER_00No, I mean you can give it a five. I'm not mad at that.
SPEAKER_03I'm not mad at that.
SPEAKER_00No, because I'm I'm no no no like I'm thinking about some things and yeah, I mean because I'm gonna tell you why I'm gonna I'm gonna tell you why. And the only reason I gave it a 4.5 is because I feel like yes, Luffy's Luffy's fight had the better weight, but I feel like Zorro in Usopp's fight had the better, like, how wanna say, like, fight aspect. You get what I'm saying? Like Usopp literally cracked the bitch over the side of the head with a bottle. You know what I'm saying? That was big. I feel like that was big. The only reason I feel like if Usopp would have kept that same energy going forward, it would have meant more. But the fact that he reverted, it kind of hurt me. You know what I'm saying? And but like I said, still big fight. Luffy brought down the house. Nami, I mean, showed that she wears a size 15-man shoot when she jumped on top of that ship. Like, did that lie? This is peak one piece. I ain't gonna lie to you. It's pretty good. I I like I said that. But we'll we'll give it an average. What do you think? 4.55? What do you where are we going? I I feel like a five average, man. I mean, he gave it a four. I gave it a 4.5. You gave it a five.
SPEAKER_04Oh, you're getting you're going, you're going to have a five. I'm gonna give it a five.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna give it a five. All right, all right. All right, so we'll give it a five average, then give it a five average.
SPEAKER_01All right. I think I start this one now, don't I? Yeah, you started the next one. All right, I'm gonna start Log Town for us, and I'll keep it short and sweet. I think this is a great transitional arc. It really shows how Oda was willing to play the long game here. I think it's got you know a great introduction with characters like Smoker. I really love the moment of Zorro throwing the sword into the air to see if it's gonna cut him. Um, Tashigi is really cool. Like, there's some good stuff here, if only held back by it, drags a little bit with some of the side stuff. Now I can't speak for the manga, but in the anime, like you know, the the Sanji cooking and the cha and the Usoff doing the sniper thing, like that that stuff was a little fluffy, didn't necessarily need it. That would be the only thing that holds this back. So, Sean, do you wanna you wanna go next one?
SPEAKER_03You want my rating first, or no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00Just tell us what you thought about the art. What you thought about the art, just what you thought about the art.
SPEAKER_01Andy get dragged, andy get dragged.
SPEAKER_03See, there's not much I can I mean overall, it was a good story. It was for me, it felt a little lackluster, especially picking up after the last two arcs. Yeah. I mean, but fights were good, you know, you get more buggy.
SPEAKER_00So that'll be it. I mean, I'm gonna be real with you. I'm gonna be real with you. This was a very disappointing art for me. Not like very disappointing, oh my god, it's a terrible art. Like Sean said, coming off the last two arcs, and I felt like this arc promised a lot for me, and it just didn't like deliver. Like we got we got like the whole Roger uh foreshadowing for Luffy. We got Zoro with the cursed swords, we got Usopp supposed to be becoming a man and doing with everything with his father and the goggles, Sanji, and cooking and all that stuff, and and it's just like it didn't go anywhere.
SPEAKER_01You get what I'm saying? Yeah, that was like I was gonna avoid that point because like you're only a thriller bar. Yeah, but I'm part of the problem I have with this arc is like it's you know, it isn't paid off yet.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it doesn't, it does there's no payoff. I mean, like, even where I'm at, like it doesn't like it, it feels like there's no payoff even. I know like a lot of things in the long game, but like it just doesn't feel like it's in any payoff at all. Like it doesn't serve a purpose. There's nothing bad about it, but there's not like there's nothing like, oh my god, this shit is terrible. No, but there's nothing like really fucking good about it, except it does introduce characters like Smoker, and and then should it introduces you know, like Buggy and Alvera Alvera's like union together, Alvita, yeah, my bad. Alvita's union together. And I mean, and then you do get the cool moment with like on top of the uh execution podem. I mean, but like outside of that, it just doesn't, you know what I mean? It just doesn't do anything. And I mean, for that, personally, I mean, however y'all go, I'll give I I'll give it like a 2.5. I get, I mean, it's a it's a okay arc. It's okay. I feel like 2.53. I don't think it's nothing special. I don't think it's you know what I mean. Yeah. Sean, what did you give it?
SPEAKER_03I I mean, I I'd give it a three. I mean, I don't think it's it's it's not terrible.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's not terrible.
SPEAKER_03It's it's it's not it's not horrible, but it's just feet like coming off of that hype that we got. I feel I feel like it's good just to kind of like you know, you're on that roller coaster, you already went up, you're going down, and then you know, you feel like the slow increase increase. But you know, I feel like this is their turning point to kind of just flush out the story a little bit more, give us more interest in watching it, so it's even more of a slower pace at it. So I I mean I feel fine with the three. Yeah, like for that arc.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I would have gone 3.5 because of the potential it has, but we're we're not gonna be LeBron fans as Anthony.
SPEAKER_00Yes. I mean, but like I said, I'll give it I I'm willing to give it a three because it's not terrible, but like it's entertaining. I will say that it's entertaining, but it's just like it's it just doesn't it does nothing but give it but give us a break from high out time. That's all it does.
SPEAKER_01You feel what I'm saying? I was gonna say it's it's it's coming off two more action-oriented arcs, and it's got the downside of again, I think this could be like a five in hindsight, but you know, we gotta see when we get there, right? So I'm I'm also gonna go three, which is a three average. Yeah, and that's do you want to do Millennium Dragon since you're the only one that watched it, Anthony? Or you want to skip it?
SPEAKER_00Oh, Sean didn't watch it?
unknownNope.
SPEAKER_00Oh well, yeah, we can skip it then. Hey, hey, it's fine.
SPEAKER_01Okay, reverse mountain.
SPEAKER_00I'll let Sean take it. Sean's a labour fan.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, go ahead, Sean. I got opinions.
SPEAKER_03Oh man.
SPEAKER_01I don't uh oh you okay, so he's at thriller bark, just don't.
SPEAKER_00I'm at thriller bark. I know I know about okay, so I know about laboon and I know the the uh him and Brooke. I know the connection between him and Brooke. So I haven't seen anything yet. Yeah, I haven't seen any like reconnections or nothing like that.
SPEAKER_01He's not at the end of Thriller Bark.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm right. I'm dead smack in the middle of Thriller Park.
SPEAKER_03Okay. So I mean, I I would say I would say it's not a bad art. Yeah, I would generally say it's not a bad art. Kind of has the same problem as the last one where it's just a little it's a little iffy, but it's such a good beginning point because you won't just hear rumors of like, oh, what's next? Or the other side, and yeah, yeah, in the grand line, and then now you're actually seeing like how difficult it is. You're seeing like destroyed ships and seeing everyone's like, oh man, half these people didn't even make it to the the new world, and now you're just like wow, uh like what's up from here. And then especially adding adding in the the whale, and this is the one thing I do love about One Piece is that like you get shown these small little things, and then later on you figure out that there is such a huge impact with just that character alone, or just that one thing and Laboon being one of those he went from just being a giant whale to being one of the most loved characters in the series and just wanting to wanting to see that ending.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we can get no uh Anthony. Can I go or do you want to go? You go ahead. Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, fuck the sarc a little bit. Uh, this might be my least favorite arc around right now.
SPEAKER_03Why?
SPEAKER_01I know, I know you went through like this whole diet rad. Oh, look at how beautiful this story is, man. And then I'm like, fuck, bro, I don't give a shit about this whale, dog. It's so long, it's so encumbering. I I really, really, really don't appreciate how much of a nothing burger this feels like. And you know, again, it doesn't help that it's like you have this auspicious guarantee because you get Baratier and Arlon Park back to back. You're like, yes, we've got good pacing, we've got good action, and then I I gotta watch Log Town. I'm like, okay, that was a cooldown, right? We're chilling. And and they went up a backwards mountain. I mean to be whale.
SPEAKER_00I mean, to be fair, it's only like three episodes, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01That was gonna say that it is that it's short, and I will give it this the Laboon and Luffy stuff is cute. But the fact that I don't think like I did not care about this arc until the thriller mark, and I wouldn't easily believe y'all gave a fuck about this arc until thriller mark. Hurts it a lot. Um, and that would be that would be my my knock against it. I won't get my rating yet, but I'll go ahead and slide it to you, Anthony.
SPEAKER_00I mean, like I said, I didn't like having friends like I said, having friends that watch One Piece and drop little droplets kind of helped me care a little bit. If I did going into it total blind, I wouldn't I wouldn't really pay it much much attention about the whale. You get what I'm saying? But having people say, hey, make sure you pay attention here or there, you know what I'm saying, that kind of helped. You know what I'm saying? I thought it was I thought it was an okay art. I mean, like I said, I I feel the same about this as I did with Low Tail. You know what I mean? It's it's just it's it's not a bad art. It's not particularly a good art. It's not like it's not a mind-blowing art, you know what I'm saying? It's it's a good wholesome moment. You know what I mean? But then you get the whole Jonah and the whale type thing where they get swallowed and this and that. Like I felt like interior of the whale was not a great moment, but exterior where you get the story, the backstory with LaBoon, I think this that's that's where this art shines, where he's been waiting 50 years, this is that, and then the whole fight with him and Luffy. I think that saves this arc. But like I said, it's just it's it's okay. Like I said, it's not a bad arc. I don't think it's as bad as John says, and I don't think it's as great as fucking Sean said, because I haven't got that far yet. Maybe I might revisit it and damn have a second opinion whenever I finish drill-up art. But but I'm right there in the middle. I I feel like it's okay. Yeah, I if I had to rate anything, I'll give it a three.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, uh that's that's that's basically what I was gonna say to you. I mean, it's a three art.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's a third. I was also gonna say three, so we we ended surprisingly all on a three again.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. I think it's a three. I think it's okay. It's not it's not terrible, you know what I'm saying? I don't think I I wasn't like, oh my god, hurry up and get his head over. No, uh, because let's not forget, we get fucking V V here. Oh yeah, that's right. She does.
SPEAKER_01This is before she joined.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, this is before we get the introduction of Baroque Works. We get you know what I'm saying? There's so much stuff that gets introduced here. So, like, yeah, I mean, like, yeah, I mean it's not a bad art.
SPEAKER_01Anthony, I think it's time to to talk about your boy.
SPEAKER_00What's that?
SPEAKER_01It whiskey peak.
SPEAKER_00Whiskey peak. Hey, whiskey peak. Whiskey peak. By far, what I think. I don't know. I don't talk a lot of One Piece fan. I think this arc is underrated. I'm be real with you. I think this arc is a little underrated. I it was a fun time. It's short, it's to the point. I think it's like what two episodes, three episodes. Like two, three episodes. It's a good little time. I ain't even gonna lie, going into it, I was kind of dreading it. I was kind of dreading this arc because I thought it was gonna take forever, but like it's like two, it's like three episodes. Like, it's like three, four episodes max, and it's leading up to Alabasta. You get introduction to more baroque baroque work agents, you get the the allusion to Mr. Zero. You know what I'm saying? It sets up everything that's gonna happen later in Alabasta. Sean's over there smiling because he never thought he would get to hear me say this shit. Okay. So but yeah, man, I I had fun with this art, and it gives you the best, the best of my boy Zorro. And it gives you this right here made Luffy drop for me. It did, it made Luffy drop for me because Luffy woke up and said, Zorro, what did you do? And he and this is what pissed me off. It dropped Luffy for me because he believed people he did not know that Zorro just woke up and started spazzing out.
SPEAKER_01After a whole arc, after a whole arc of literally not leaving.
SPEAKER_00Yes, and and then yeah, and then um, and like for I that right there dropped Luffy for me. John was checking in on me, and he'll tell you, I dropped Luffy right there next to the Usopp for a while. Luffy was down there next to Usopp for a while, and you guys will find out when I picked Luffy back up. Because I would rate where I have each straw hat. And Luffy dropped from like number three to like number four. We had five characters then. So yeah, like Luffy was like number five. So Luffy was like number four, number five, and sometimes anything a lot because of that one, because like he's supposed to be your right-hand man, you believe, a per just because they fed you, you know what I'm saying? And and Luffy's stupidity got so ridiculous to me. But like, like I said, that does not take away from Whiskey Peak. I think Whiskey Peak is a very fun time. I enjoyed it, but like I said, it gave us D D and it gave us Booger Shooter, you know what I'm saying? Mr. I think it was Mr. Mr. Five or something like that. What's his name? Yeah, I think it's Mr. Five. I think it's Mr. Five. Yeah, it gave us Booger Shooter. And well, I think I thought I think it was a fun arc. What do you what do you think, Sean?
SPEAKER_03I think it's I think it's a good arc as well. Bon Clay, Mr. Two.
SPEAKER_00No, not not here yet. Not here yet. Not yet, not yet, not yet. Because you got, I think it was Miss Sunday. I think it was Miss All. No, no, no, that's Sunday. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01No, no, I forgot.
SPEAKER_00No, I mean Miss Golden Week. Miss Golden Week, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Something like that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's how this is one of the two I remember.
SPEAKER_00No, you do get you do meet Robin in this one at the end. Yeah, you do meet her at the very, very, yeah, you do meet her at the end. So yeah. So, but yeah, yeah, he's right. Yeah, well, yeah, man, I think this is a very strong arc, especially catapulting us towards the destination of Alabaster. Alrighty. So uh not not where I actually became a one-piece quote unquote fan, though. I thought it was a fun arc though. But go ahead, John, what do you got to say?
SPEAKER_01Oh man. Oh man, let me tell you. That that loopy moment is terrible, it's awful, and it can almost skyrocket this arc to indeed. This legitimately could be an argument for the worst art because of that moment alone. But you do have the Zorophy, you do have V V joining the crew, and I do think, you know, the the the Baroque Work stuff is cool. It just for as short as it is, it doesn't really. I don't know, it kind of overstates welcome. I would probably land if you guys are ready for ratings, right in a three with this one as well.
SPEAKER_00I think it's better than a three. I would I would I would go I would go at least a four for this one. I think it's I think it's I think it's a solid arc.
SPEAKER_01I think it's a and one more thing before I forget, before I forget, this starts the one piece death baiting.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I would say that. Yeah, but I but like I said, I I think it's a four. I think it's a solid four, though. Yeah, I mean I'll give it a four as well. I think it's a solid one. Okay, so that averages to a four. Yeah, I think it's a solid four.
SPEAKER_01Okay, all right. Anthony, I'm gonna let you start this one because I know what this means to you, buddy.
SPEAKER_00Little garden. This is where I became a One Piece fan. Right here. Did not expect to like this art, did not expect to like this art, did not expect to have fun with this arc, did not expect to care about this arc. Why did I like this arc? I I still I'm still fucking clueless to this thing. I really am. John was appalled when I said I like this arc. He was like, really? I'm like, yeah, dude, this is a good arc. Like, dead ass serious. I don't know. Maybe it's the giants, maybe it's the camaraderie, the loyalty that these two guys decided to do battle for X amount of fucking centuries. The damn, hey, at this at fucking when when this volcano goes off, you better have your ass here. We shoot in the fade. I like that shit. All right, and then you got more Baroque works. I don't like Mr. Three at all. But the fact this is the first arc where I was legit, I even though, all right, let me instead, even though I Knew none of the main characters were gonna die. I still was on the edge of my seat. Like, how the hell are they gonna get out of this? That this was the first art to do that to me. Like, how the fuck are they gonna get out of here? With Zoro and then give me peak comedic Zorro any day of the week trying to cut his fucking leg off so he can get out of the fucking candle wax. Bro, fucking killer.
SPEAKER_01It was funny, but all the way strikes the pose is pretty funny.
SPEAKER_00That that that's Zoro at his pose. Yes. Him him striking the pose. Like, what are you doing? Well, if I'm gonna die, I'm gonna look cool. Like, dude, come on, man. Yes. That's comedy. That's comedy at its best, bro. That's non-forced comedy. That's when One Piece does comedy at its best.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I agree with you there.
SPEAKER_01That's that is that is that is comedy at its best with One Piece because if not, ooh, we can get to some we can get to some issues there, but we won't, we won't, we won't.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and then I love the I love the Baroque works getting involved with the with the with the Giants fight, contaminating the beer. I love the Luffy standing up for the Giants. Usopp getting involved again, even though he didn't want to. Like, this is where Usopp started to grow on me a little bit more. Like, they're that serious. This is where actually I was like, okay, this guy serves a purpose. And like he's not he's he's annoying, but he serves a purpose. You know what I'm saying? So like I he started to grow on me a little bit more. And like I said, it's it's a good arc. I think it's a it's a solid arc. I I I really do. I'm not gonna get my rating. You guys tell me what you think about the arc. I'm I'm I could rave about this arc.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, okay, all right. Sean, go ahead. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_03I think I mean uh Anthony kind of hit a lot of the same points, I would say. I mean, comedy's good. The the fights were the fights were good. It's not really much to say, Anthony. Anthony kind of hit the nail nail on this one. I mean, I think it's a very phenomenal arc.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think I think it's a good arc. I really do. I really I did not expect to like this arc. This guy. I like Usopp. John taking shots at one piece in the hole. You taking shots at fucking Usopp. All right, John, what you gotta say? Okay.
SPEAKER_04I like it a lot. I do, I do.
SPEAKER_01I like the only thing I'm I'm I'm gonna throw out the one dick pick I think we all have. Man is that fucking Mr. Three Fight garbage. That's yeah, the fight, yeah.
SPEAKER_00The fight itself isn't good, the fight itself isn't great, but the it's the same thing with Arlong. It's just the weight of it, I guess.
SPEAKER_01You know what I'm saying? Kinda, yeah. I love the Giants though. Elbaf, which is our current arc in the in the manga right now, not to spoil anything, is peak. I love the whole Viking aesthetic that the the the giants have going on. I like the whole honorable warrior shtick. They're they're super entertaining, they're they're really fun. Other than just like that second half dragon, a little bit, like I like this. I think it's good, I think it does exactly what it needs to do. Uh we get the the whole Sanji. I think like a really cool point of writing is when he's like, Sanji basically plays crocodile because this is like the first time we get like the Mr. Zero drop that where he's like, Oh, well, you know, I'm a Mr. Prince. Yeah, that you know, plays that up a little bit, and he uses that because he you know he was the only one that didn't get seen. So yeah, I think I think there is some cool stuff here. Zoro striking the pose is fucking hilarious. When die, I'm gonna look cool. Yep. So yeah, are you guys ready to rate? I I think I'm ready to rate.
SPEAKER_00Where are you going?
SPEAKER_04I think I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go 3.5. Okay. Sean.
SPEAKER_03I'll give it a four. I'll give it a three. No, I'll give it a four.
SPEAKER_01Four? Yeah, that was like it's just that fight holding it back for me. Other than that, I'd probably give it a four.
SPEAKER_00Y'all don't want to know what I'm rate this. You're gonna give it a five. You're gonna give it a five. You're gonna give it a five. No, I'm gonna give it a four. I'm gonna give it a four. I'm gonna give it a four.
SPEAKER_01It's a solid, what's that average down to a four?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's a solid four. It's a solid four. I think it's a real good arc. I think it's a fun arc. Like I said, outside of the fight, that's the only thing you can hold against this thing.
SPEAKER_01Okay, all right. So Anthony, I hate to double dip.
SPEAKER_00Do you want to start this next one too? No, let somebody else start, because y'all are gonna think I'm glazing. I'm being real. Like y'all gonna think I'm glazing. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_01Sean, I'm gonna let you start, and I'm gonna let Anthony go second. I'll go last on this one.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01Or no, I'm gonna let Anthony go last. We're gonna build this up a little bit. Drum Island, Sean. Chopper's art.
SPEAKER_03It's better if you let Anthony go for this one. I got nothing but praise for this one.
SPEAKER_00No, Sean. Bro, you don't understand. You don't understand.
SPEAKER_03I got nothing but praise for this. John, go ahead.
SPEAKER_00Listen, I'm gonna tell y'all this right. I'm gonna tell you I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go first. I'm gonna go first. I'm gonna go first. And y'all gonna hate what I'm about to say. Y'all ready? The first five in one piece. The first five in one piece. That's my opinion. This is a five out of five. If I could give it a hundred, I would give it a hundred. The perfect backstory from not being accepted from your community, from killing your father, the weight of the world on your shoulders, from not forgiving yourself. The only thing that holds this art back again, and it's a recurring thing with One Piece for me is the villain. And that's the only thing that holds it back. And even then, the villain is such a small factor here, like because Luffy, oh my God, this is where Luffy turns around for me. Like the climb of the fucking mountain, bro. Oh my fucking god, bro. So fucking or fucking farming, bro. Him taking on the wear bunnies, fucking nommy, fucking sick as shit. Like, dude, this right here is one piece at its fucking best, bro. I know you guys said fucking Arlan Park is a five. No, this is why I say I couldn't give Arlan Park a five. This is a five. This is this when I say I'm giving fives, this is what I'm grading everything by right here. Perfect origin story, I mean backstory, perfect fucking damn pacing. This story does not drag. Like, you got fucking like is Nami gonna be okay? Like, you got Luffy, like tooth and nail being the leader. He need to fucking be. You got conflict of government, you got like everything that I was taught that One Piece is this this fucking arc is.
SPEAKER_03All right, Sean, you want to go with me because I mean like I just gotta say Anthony, Anthony hit basically what I was gonna say, but uh to say to say this that this is a a the only top five in one piece.
SPEAKER_00So I said so far first. I said first first, I said the first, first fight that I gave. Like this is the first fight for me. I didn't say this is the only reason I could the only reason I couldn't give R. I'm gonna say like this. If Arlong was the villain in this, oh my god, nigga. Oh my god, nigga. You're like, damn serious. Like, I'm telling you, if Arlong was the villain here in Drum Island, boy, I ain't even gonna lie to you. I have to call John John. These niggas might have a point. I ain't gonna lie to you. These niggas might have a point, John. I ain't gonna lie, but like they're that serious, bro. Arlong was the wrong, I'm telling you, like, bro, like I the only reason I gave Arlong Parker four point is because Drum Island exists. That's the only reason. That's valid. That's the only reason, bro.
SPEAKER_01You have anything else to add, Sean, or can I go on my session now?
SPEAKER_03I just gotta say that whole speech still lives with me today.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, you're talking about when a man truly dies? Yeah, when does a man truly die?
SPEAKER_03Oh, because I remember that, bro. I remember sending that to you, Anthony. Yeah, and you were just like, and I was like, this is why one piece of peak. And it meant nothing to me, though.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it meant nothing to me. It meant nothing to me. Yeah, it meant nothing to me. Because it was out of context.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. And now that you've seen it and that you watched it, yeah. And I hear how much you praise that one arc? My art, I'm happy because I'm just like now he understands why I said that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, dude, that shit right there, bro. Oh my god, bro. Like, listen. That's can I go? Can I go? I don't want to praise it, bro. It's so dead good. Yeah, it's good. It's deaf good. Yeah, it's good.
SPEAKER_01This is like, bro, the back this is like top five straw hat backstories, spite me. Yes, yeah. This might be top 10 backstories in one piece. I'm gonna say it.
SPEAKER_00I mean, like I said, dude. And I'm gonna go. Like that serious. I I love this art. I ain't think I'm lying to you. I love this arc. Like, that serious. If if somebody's like, if you had if you had an arc you had to go back and watch, it'd be this one. I it'd be one of these. This would be in contention for the arc I would go back and watch. I have I have a couple more that I like, yeah, I would enjoy to go back and watch. Yeah, it is. If I can I'm gonna be real with you, I'm gonna be real, I'm gonna be real with you. I'll be real with you. Fuck a five, five point five, guys. I'm sorry. 5.5.
SPEAKER_01All right, yeah, fuck it, bro. We'll give a 5.5. It's just worth it. 5.5, bro.
SPEAKER_005.5.
SPEAKER_03That's crazy, but when I wanted to give Baratier a 10.
SPEAKER_00I no, but I'm just saying, you can give what you want. I'm just saying, we're only going to five, bro. So you're telling me Baratier is better than this.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_00Okay, then. That's all I'm saying.
SPEAKER_04That's all I'm saying.
SPEAKER_00I'm just saying, bro. Chopper has the best fucking art right now, bro. Like, I'm so far that we have discussed. I'm saying so far that we discussed. But I'm just saying, now guaranteed guys it is it's that good, bro. It's that fucking good, bro. Yeah, I flew so good. I flew through this arc so fucking quick, and Chopper became like my one of my top three fucking characters. Like, golly, bro.
SPEAKER_01Guys, I was out of state for work, okay, when Anthony was was doing this arc. Okay, he calls me and he goes, John, I have a new favorite character. And I'm like, who? And he's like, Chopper.
SPEAKER_00No, I said Tony Tony Chopper. I said Tony Tony Chopper. Said this whole fucking government.
SPEAKER_01He said the government name.
SPEAKER_00I said his whole government name, bro.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, I can't be mad at you, but dude, it's so good. The speech is fantastic. I love the whole theme of like not being good at your craft, but still wanting to help and take care of people. Yeah, it's got like I mean again, fights are a little lackluster here, but like we were talking about Luffy climbing up the mountain, which is a 10 out of 10 moment. Yeah, but Luffy when he's on top of the building protecting the flag, yeah, is incredible. I forgot about that.
SPEAKER_00How did I forget about it? That was a good one. That was a good one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's so good, dude. And like I I even like Dr. Herook, or or no, Dr. Kareha, Dr. Kareha, the the the doctor who raised him, and like the the whole theme of like accountability and and knowing your worth and knowing the mistakes you've made, like really, really, really resonate throughout. And and Chopper, man, I was like, I don't know, man. I don't know if I can name a better introduction art to the Chopper. It's so damn good. This shit's man fucking tastic. I mean, like, do you guys have anything else you want to add? Or nah, man.
SPEAKER_00Sean, what do you give it, bro? What do you give it?
SPEAKER_03Uh the the only thing I would add is just that that final art scene where they finally made it. Oh, where the cherry blaster is. Yeah, forgot about the cherry blasters. Yeah, that whole scene was just beautiful. Beautiful, yeah.
SPEAKER_00That whole scene was just like hey, listen. Peak one piece, bro. I listen, peak one piece. I gotta give it to it. I cannot fucking I'm just saying peak one piece, bro. I gotta say.
SPEAKER_01All right, what are you giving it, Sean? You gave it you gave it a five point five.
SPEAKER_00I gave it a five point five.
SPEAKER_01I'm sorry. I'm giving it a two.
SPEAKER_00What? I'm giving it a two. He's lying. Plus three. I'm giving it a two. That shit's a five, bro. It's so good. Yeah, that shit's good. That shit's good. That shit's good.
SPEAKER_01All right, all right. Now we on the buy baby now. Alabaster, but I'm gonna let uh Sean go first. I got a lot to say about this one.
SPEAKER_03No, go ahead. Take take your arc. There's an arc I'm waiting for. This is a very specific arc I want to uh I want.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Anthony said it really well. Alabasta is the nanic saga of One Piece, it is the part where One Piece the tone changes from this point forward. Okay, I think Vivi is the best, like substraw hat, like, not a straw hat, but straw hat member we've gotten. I think you know, her story. I love a lot of the moments this has. It gets one of the top five villains One Piece with Crocodile. He's great, he's super evil, he always feels like he's got his hands involved with everything. I like the majority of the fights here. That's a rarity for One Piece. And you know, you get Bon Cl, you get Bon Kway, you get Mr. One, you get, you know, Robin stuff here. It's got the big war aspect going forward, and and the whole abolition of, you know, like, hey, we we mess with warlords now, like we in the big boy seats. It's so intense. I mean, the desert setting is fantastic, and other than maybe some small pacing issues, and I think it drags a little bit in that third act, bro. You get the silent goodbye, which is like another top five One Piece moments consender. Like, we get to meet Ace. Ace is awesome! Third best character one piece. This shit's so good, bro. Third best characters. Third best character. I'll fuck it, I'll take it. Go ahead, guys, before I start getting on a tangent. This shit's peak.
SPEAKER_00Go ahead, Sean.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna say the fights are good. Villains are good. The characters that you can introduce to are phenomenal. We got ace, we got Vivi, we got we got so much to love game clay. I was gonna get to that. And then we got the goat Bond Clay. Just for Anthony. You wrote a love Bond Clay. I promise you.
SPEAKER_00I mean, like I said, like I said, Alabaster was like one of those arcs. It was one of those arcs where I it was before I watched One Piece, it was the number it was the number one name I heard drip throwing around. You know what I'm saying? At that time, like you know what I'm saying? Like everybody, it was like to me, that's what that's like the number one arc that I heard about. You get what I'm saying? That and whole cake. Like I heard that and whole cake is like two arcs like I I had to get to. That's what everybody's like. You get those like that, those are like the two main arcs that I've always heard. And so I got to it and I was like, okay, let's get to it. And then it reminded me so much of the dynamic art. And it's because it's basically about oppression. You know what I'm saying? It's basically about oppression, and it's it's basically about somebody manipulating, he's basically manipulating the people to their own game. And Crocodile, I I'm not gonna lie to you, he was the first Freezer level villain that I got to in One Piece. I will say Crocodile is is up there in like in like the S-tier level villains. First S tier level villain that I've met in One Piece. And first crocodile loop fight phenomenal. Phenomenal. The third one is great. And the only thing I can nitpick in this thing is they did this thing. And like they did this one thing with this the rain water. And and like I wish they would have paid it off more. They did the backstory with Nami's dad and whatever. Like, I wish they would have utilized that in Crocodile's demise. You know what I'm saying? Because he used it that like Nami's dad was using it to make it rain and stuff. I wish they used that a little bit more to make it, you know what I'm saying, to make use crocodile's demise or whatever, because his weakness is worth. But like I said, I'm not gonna harp. I'm not like, dude, I like this arc. I had fun with this arc. I felt like this was the most in-depth arc in One Piece. Like, there was a lot of layers to peel back here. There's a lot of, there's a lot of, there's a lot going on here. And the only thing I I wish that I wish the second and third fight was one fight for Luffy and Crocodile. Instead of like we get one fight and had to chase them down to get the third fight. I felt like that kind of threw the momentum and pacing off. But but other than that, I didn't I can't I really don't outside of the death baiting, I just wish because we had this all-out war and nobody died.
SPEAKER_01We can get into people being watched. I just felt like we had this all-out is really dumb.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. No, that, but I felt like we had this all-out war and nobody died. You know what I'm saying? And but I mean, I but that's just me nitpicking. You know what I'm saying? That's that's where I'm nitpicking. But but other than that, man, like Vivi doing everything she needed to do for her country, and and her friends just being there by her side, and then like doing that goodbye at the end being the hardest thing they could do. You know? It's solid. It's very solid, very solid.
SPEAKER_01Or even like, I think Vivi's best moment, real quick, before we get off of it, is when she's standing on top of the building and she's like, just stop fighting. Like, please stop.
SPEAKER_00I'll tell you this though. Usopp coming through with another solid fight, bro. Nami coming through with her her batons finally, or weather batons and stuff, element batons or whatever. Yeah, solid fight, Zoro giving Zoro solid fight. Yeah, like, dude, this was a solid outing for all of the straw hats. I ain't gonna lie, like everybody got a good fight here. So I'm gonna let you two rate it. What do y'all what do y'all rating it? John, I know what you're doing. Oh, Sean needs to give his, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna give it a four.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna give it a four. No, but John, you started this thing. That's why I said what are you giving it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, uh dude, even acknowledging the issues, I gotta give it a five, dog. This is it's not my five point five, I'll tell you that. But this is probably a strong connection for where we're at in one piece for the best part.
SPEAKER_00I I still think it's great. John gave it a four. I think this is a good art, but I don't think it's better than Drum Island. So with that being said, I give it a 4.5.
SPEAKER_01I'll take it. I'll take it. So what is that average after? 4.5? It's like a 4.5.
SPEAKER_00I don't I don't think I think I think I think Drum Island was the only thing this has over Drum Island that the villain is way better. The pacing's better in Drum Island. The I feel like the with the stakes should have been bigger here than in Drum Island. You get what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I do agree. This is always gonna be a one-piece problem, guys. The pacing's better. It just is.
SPEAKER_00I'm sorry. Like I mean, but like I said, I give I give a 4.5. So we average out to a 4.5 on this. Sean, do you want to start Jaya slash Skypia? We're gonna do Jaya first, they're separate. They're separate, they gotta be separate.
SPEAKER_01One of these is way better than the other.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So Sean, start Jaya.
SPEAKER_04Alright.
SPEAKER_03You want my opinion? I don't remember Jaya. Hold on.
SPEAKER_00Alright, so my opinion. Alright, so I'll start it. I'll start it. I think Jaya is great. I think it's short. It's impactful. I'm gonna tell you my favorite part about it. So I'm gonna tell you my favorite part. It introduces Bellamy. Bellamy is just a throwaway villain. Far as my eye know, might come back and do something different. I don't know. But like I said, as far as I know where I'm at in the story, Bellamy is just a throwaway villain. Bellamy, it isn't what Bellamy does. It's what Luffy and Zorro does walking into that bar and not throwing one punch and just standing there taking everything. And then this is where Luffy moved up to number two for me. That moment, and then Luffy coming back and getting his Batman moment on top of a steeple and ending it with like one, maybe two punches. That shit there. Like Luffy, they like, you better be bat by sunrise. Oh, I will. And he goes and just beats the shit out of Bellamy. Like, bro, this kid's badass. Like, this shit's badass. Like, Aura farming at its best. Luffy moved up. Like, this, I gained like crazy respect for Luffy in this art. Luffy moved up the ladder for me. He put Tony Tony Chopper and Ace down for me and moved up to the number two spot. Like before this art, Luffy was a steady number four or number five for me. And this art moved Luffy up to number two for me. Like, just off of that, this one between Alabasta fight with Crocodile into this right here. Like, yeah. And and it's just like, man, Luffy, Luffy won me over. I did not think, you can ask John, you can ask my brother-in-law mystical. I did not think, yeah, you can ask Sean. I did not think Luffy was going to win me over.
SPEAKER_01At any point. Any fucking point.
SPEAKER_00Like, dead serious. I did not see myself liking Luffy at all. And this was just that that little grain of sand that just won the scale, man. Like, real. Like, like, man, seeing him, like the aura farming, him club between him climbing the mountain, him standing up against crocodile three times, and beating crocodile with his very own blood. And it's just, it's just him standing there taking that beating in the bar, getting his face sent into the fucking into that bar. I think it was in Alabasta. I think that was Alabasta. But then, and then like him getting beat down in Jaya and then him cutting back. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Also, the big one we haven't talked about. Maybe the best villain introduction in this series with uh with Blackbeard.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But I didn't know it was Blackbeard at the time.
SPEAKER_03So that's what I was gonna say for.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But but go ahead, guys.
SPEAKER_03Y'all go for what I was gonna say for for my argument.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03For for that arc. Because I I had to look it up. I completely forgot about that arc. But I will say though, that arc did introduce two pretty good villains.
SPEAKER_00Anthony doesn't know one of them just yet, but it does give us you know imitations of like, oh, it's not just you introduce the the warlords, the heavy hitters, the guys that are like, okay, maybe they do mention the seven warlords, they do mention like who these guys are and stuff like that. Yeah, they then you get the um you get like they actually talk about the world government and everything. Yeah, yeah, they they they show him, yeah. So uh yeah, I mean, you get a lot in Saiya for it being a small arc, and also they talk about Sky Island and Skypea and stuff like that. So I mean, like I said, it covers a lot. This is this is by far considered just I'm gonna say this is by far probably the best transitional arc. I think it's better than for me. Yeah, yeah, I would agree with I think it's better than the reverse mountain.
SPEAKER_03Because I I generally feel like this is I would say this is the starting point to where everything starts to like quite this is like the the that moment where they're trying to piece together this story that they're about to build out and flush out here, yeah. And it all begins in jail here because that's when you start learning more of like, oh, why are these guys this? Why are these guys doing this? Who are the seven warlords?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I personally think also.
SPEAKER_01No, no, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead. I was gonna say I was just gonna say, like, man, like this is great character work for Luffy, it's great character work for Zorro. I love the the fact that the reason he doesn't fight back is the same reason Shanks didn't. Yep, and and and Blackbeard is like, yo, you you get it, right? Not every fight is worth it up on the way to the top.
SPEAKER_00And what's crazy is dude, it goes it goes all the way back to episode like uh I don't know exactly what episode, but we call it episode one. So whatever it is. Yeah, we'll just call it episode one. Like, because it's it's in the beginning, like it's like crazy that he like Luffy, you know what I'm saying, just like don't do nothing. You know what I'm saying? We ain't gonna do nothing. You know what I'm saying? Just and Zoro and Zoro understood, and like Zoro understood, bro, and like, man, it's just like dude, that's dope fucking moment, bro. Like I said, by far the best transitional, transitional art, bro, by far. As far as I seen, I I gotta keep emphasizing that because guys, I'm only in thrill of art. So, like, by for what I've seen, and I'm not even finished thrill of art.
SPEAKER_01So, I won't lie to you, Anthony. This this is still even even after seeing everything, this is still a contender for the best one.
SPEAKER_00I won't tell you that. Alright. So, guys, what so let's not art John? What do you give it?
SPEAKER_01You know, bro? 4.5? You can call me a five.
SPEAKER_00All right, Sean, what do you give it? Sean?
SPEAKER_03Sean? I'm gonna give it a four. I'm gonna give it a four.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's so good. Y'all, y'all think I'm tripping, but I'm gonna give it a five, guys. Uh dude, uh low-key, fuck it. You did it, I'm right there with you. I I think it's five. I think it's a five. I think I mean like dead ass here's like it doesn't do nothing crazy, but like how big the moments are, how big the characters are, how deep the world building is, and and every one piece fan tells me about the world building. The world building that this art, this little art is the perfect example. Yeah, that this little art establishes is crazy. So, yeah, I I gotta give it a five. I gotta do my due diligence and show respect. I gotta give it a five. Sean, can I talk to you to a five?
SPEAKER_04I was trying to be conservative because we just came off alabasca, but like I gotta give it a five.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I gotta give it a five. I gotta give it a five just because of what it does.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the world building itself is is good. What it's about to introduce you into and the characters that are so we starts to piece together. I mean, that's a five.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I gotta give it a five. Like, I can't, I'm not getting a lot, but come on, Sean. Go ahead, what's next?
SPEAKER_01Anthony, I'm gonna let you know what? No, no, no. We're gonna let Sean start this one because I know how he feels about this arc.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01Skype.
SPEAKER_03It's not the arc I wanted, but we'll give you another one, don't worry.
SPEAKER_01We if if if we get the one you want, just let us know. We'll give it to you.
SPEAKER_04You know which arc it is. You know exactly what arc it is.
SPEAKER_01Well, we'll give you Skypea too.
SPEAKER_03Go ahead. Skype. Everybody has mixed emotions on Skypea. I genuinely think it's an it's it's a it's good. For for you getting shown like, oh, like this is like it's showing you the somewhat of the pinnacle of what devil fruits can do, and showing like the levels that you can reach with certain devil fruits. And for for the character that you get shown with one of the most strongest devil fruits, Luffy handling that fight pretty well. And the more in-depth background story that you get later on with Sky PM, I feel like it's genuinely not bad. I feel like it's a pretty good arc. And I mean it's it's what else can I say about it? I like the scene where Luffy was walking in the forest singing that little song. Funnier in the sub. And the little little nets and grannies of the story of itself. I mean, Skype is not bad. I feel like it's following the same formula uh that it did, you know, falling back off with two good arts, and then you kind of get like a little sore pace one, and then you know, you're right back into the the heavy hitters.
SPEAKER_01Anthony, you want to go first, X or me?
SPEAKER_00You can take it. I don't think Sean's gonna like what I gotta say.
SPEAKER_01I know, I know everybody, everybody Skype. I'm not gonna lie to you, bro. At one point, I'd have called Skype like top fit arcs in one piece. Woohoo! Boy, when I wouldn't have to rewatch some of that stuff, does this arc drag? Yeah, it is so unbelievably slow at points. And while I do think you get a couple big things, one, you get a good villain, NL, in a roo, whatever you want to call him. And I think you get the big advantage of this arc has some great stuff to come in the future without spoiling anything. What holds it back is one, it's just too long, and two, it feels like it's inhibited by the fact that Annell is like so strong and he's a problem, and he feels like a problem, but then it's like well shit, dude. Like, how do we compare to this? How do we keep going? And now everybody's stronger than him, but he's supposed to be. And now I do like where this art kind of differs, and it's like stuff like you know, Luffy is rubber, and they don't know what rubber is, so he's able to be, you know, you can't hurt Luffy because he's rubber. You get into a lot of the hockey plot holes, or as Anthony knows it as mantra. You the the villains besides Inaroo are pretty weak. It's just very okay. I think the highs are great. Like, I you know, I love like Luffy punching in at the end with the golden bell, and I think like you know, there's some good stuff here, but then we get into these backstories and these dragging, slow, unbelievably boring moments. Yeah, Anthony, go ahead, buddy. I tried to tone it back a little, but I know you're about to rip this band-aid off real hard. This shit, okay.
SPEAKER_00Let's give it some positives, okay? I like I like that Inaru. To me, Inaru came off as like a Cell level villain. Like he that's who you reminded me of. You remind me of Cell. I thought the fight between him and Luffy. I think it was it was it was good. It could have been better, but I feel like it's okay. It's good. Passable. Um I like the technology that it introduces. I like that. I like trying trying to be fair here. With you know, with the shells and stuff like that, impact the impact dials and stuff. I like I like that.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, the IOD.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, impact dials, I like the impact dials. But this shit is boring. This is a boring. This I'm gonna tell you why, because a lot of the side villains feel exactly like that. They feel like side villains. Whereas I just came off of Alabasta, where the side villains actually had a little weight to them. You get what I'm saying? Even even the last call side villains felt like they had a little, you know what I'm saying? These guys felt like knockoff versions of the Ginyu voice. You get what I'm saying? And dryer. Yeah, but it's like alabasta and dryer. Yeah. And I felt like this the pacing could have been better. If this arc was just like 10, 15 episodes shorter, if it was just 10, 15 episodes shorter, it'd been better. And and I think that would have helped the pacing out. One thing I can say about this arc, and it's like the glory, I don't think there's any filler episodes here. I don't think, like, like when I say filler episodes, I don't think like fights got stretched out to the point where, like, dude, we could have ended this. You know what I'm saying? I just feel like there were episodes where like, okay, we could have just got we could just move this out the way, you know what I'm saying? Like, let's just get here quicker. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01The backstory. I'm sorry. Yeah, don't leave uh leave the nulli backwards.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and then and it just like out of everything we saw, this the sky, I felt like it should have looked better. You know what I'm saying? We had three episodes, and I and I got like we got the three episodes where we got the backstory about the original people from the ground that got shot up into the sky, and about the lying guy, and you know what I'm saying? That was cool, you know what I'm saying? We could have got that, you know, we could have got that later or earlier, you know what I'm saying? It's just the placement, like you you killed, like it was in the middle of like basically Mad Max dome, you know what I'm saying, like the fight, the battle royale or whatever. You killed the momentum there, and and like I lost interest in that because you're sitting here trying to tell me that the world dragon was a regular snake at one point in time. I'm like, I get it, but like, bro, you're killing me here. Like, you like let me get through this thing. And like I said, it's not a bad, it's not a bad arc, it's not, and Jonathan's the most B tier, I think we've covered. But like, it's such a slow arc that it hurts the integrity of the arc. You feel what I'm saying? Because Inaru, being as powerful as he is, should have a better paced arc. You feel what I'm saying? Scott Pia is in it as interesting as the idea as it is, should have a better paced arc. That makes sense.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm gonna agree with Sean. You're probably we'll go we'll start with Anthony with your score and go up.
SPEAKER_00I'll give it, I mean, to be fair and not non-biased and taking away like me thinking like I think it's a solid 3.5 arc. I I'm not saying it's terrible arc, I'm not saying it's a great arc. I just feel like the pacing issues hurt this arc so bad that would I want to rewatch it? No. If it was shorter, hell yeah. If if this arc was shorter, it'd be a four for me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's that's kind of how I feel. I'm also going 3.5. Sean, you're you're the you're the high one here. What are you feeling?
SPEAKER_03I'm putting it as a three. You put it in three?
SPEAKER_00You had it higher than us. I was expecting a four or four point five from you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like if you go with your heart, man.
SPEAKER_00All right, man. Yeah, we're not telling you what we yeah, man, just go with we bet average it out. Like if you think this is a four or five, just call it a four or a five. I'm not trying to manipulate your your average, you know what I'm saying? If you really like this arc, you really like this arc.
SPEAKER_03I'm being honest. No, I mean, I genuinely think it's a three. Three, three point five.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Damn. All right, three point five arc. I thought 3.5. Yeah, I thought you was the way you were talking about it. I thought it was gonna be a four or five for you. I didn't think it was a five, I thought it was like four or four point five for you.
SPEAKER_01All right, well, I'll start us off on uh long ring one land, the most filler-cannon archive I've ever watched, bro. This shit was boring as fuck. Like, dude, I'm sorry. Foxy didn't hit it for me. I didn't find it all that funny. I was very now, and I have said this once, and I will say this again. I think some of the indignation I have towards this arc probably wouldn't have been as vile or brutal if I had maybe like paced myself a bit better going through one piece. Yeah, but dog, by the time I got here, I was just not having fun. I was like, this feels like a fucking nothing burger besides the Aw Kiji fight at the end.
SPEAKER_00So, um Sean, what's your take on this?
SPEAKER_03I ain't gonna lie, it's about the same. I mean, the only thing I like about that was just afro Luffy and that shit is so dear, bro.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so I actually like being real, after the dryness of Skypea, this was like a breath of fresh air for me. Like dead ass serious. I I'm not gonna call it like, oh my god, this is peak, or like I'm not gonna say, oh my god. I was it was like entertaining. Like, I actually it felt like a breath of fresh air coming off of Scopeia. It felt like it was colorful. Skypia wasn't that vibrant for me. It was it was funny, it was entertaining. I dreaded this, I ain't gonna lie, I was dreading this this art. I thought it was so stupid at first. Though the race I thought was funny. I thought this was comedic goals for me. I thought Zorro and Luffy let them letting Luffy build a boat, and Zorro and fucking Chopper together on a boat is like it is to me, it was funny as hell. And then the ice skate, I mean then the rollerblading, I thought that was that was okay, and then Chopper getting fucking sold off and Robin getting sold off. I I mean, like I said, we knew they weren't going anywhere, and then damn, then you get Afro Luffy. Like I told John, I didn't I didn't know to be I didn't know to be entertained or offended, but it was uh it was epic. I'm sorry. But like I said, I was entertained. I give it a solid three. What do you guys give it? I'm going 2.5.
SPEAKER_03Sean. I'll I can 600. I'll probably do a 2.5 as well.
SPEAKER_00So 2.5 just do a 2.5. That's fine. I'm fine with that. Like I said, this is okay, arc. I had I was entertained too.
SPEAKER_01You know what's crazy?
SPEAKER_00This shit feels like filler, and I'd still watch this before fucking Surah Villain again. Of course. I mean, like I I was entertained by it, but I couldn't say that about Surah Villa. Yeah, that's I that's a big thing. Yeah, I was entertained. I was thoroughly entertained. Like, I was like, why am I entertained by this? Like, you I but anyway, but all right, what's next?
SPEAKER_01All right. I think this will be the last arc we cover, unless you want to talk about the little bit of thriller bark you've seen.
SPEAKER_00No, no, we'll cover thriller bark in part two. So, all right, guys. On to water seven, and now we got Andy's lobby after this. I think this is the one Sean wanted to start.
SPEAKER_03No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You know which one I want to start, Don.
SPEAKER_00Which one do you want to start?
SPEAKER_03And he's lobby.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. Yeah, I know what he is. Let me I'll start water seven then. Y'all ready? Yes. By far, the most beautiful is fucking damn arc that I've seen. I mean, like, dude, I thought Drum Island was beautiful. I thought Little Garden was beautiful. Hell, I even thought the deserts of Alabaster was beautiful. The construction of this island is fucking beautiful. The waterfalls, the colors pop, like, dude, is this this beautiful fucking this is beautiful art. Like that serious. I like the fish horses. Yeah, yeah, I like that. And then it introduces a character that I didn't think I was gonna fucking like.
SPEAKER_03Frankie. He was my number two. He was my number two for a good while.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I didn't think I was gonna like Frankie. But dude, before we even get there, fucking Usopp digging himself out of the grave, which is the Bottom of the straw hat for me and climbing up into my top four or five because of the fight with Luffy. And like, this is like the fourth or fourth or fifth fight that I've mentioned of Usopps in this in this in this podcast today. Like, dude, fuck it.
SPEAKER_01I'm not gonna lie to you. This may be Uso's best fight.
SPEAKER_00Dude, that fight, and then him, even though he got his ass whooped, standing 10 toes down again against the Frankie family. Bro, and then let's not forget. Okay, that I'll count that as any sloppy. We'll talk about it at any sloppy. But yeah, like standing 10 toes down again against fucking uh the Frankie family. Bro, I'm just saying, dude, like he was prepared for Luffy. And damn, like, dude, it was just like I said, it was just, you know, that it was a big arc for Usopp. Like, even though he lost the money, like Dan Terry's like, dude, it's it's a good arc. Like, I really think it's a solid arc. I like this arc. I had fun with this arc. I like help.
SPEAKER_01This is technically the first real, real arc where Rob, I know she's in Long Ring, Longland.
SPEAKER_00But this is kind of her first real arc. Yeah. Yeah, because you don't, but you don't get her backstory what until like any lobby, right? I believe. Yeah, you don't get until any lobby. But yeah, so dealing with the whole disappearance of Robin, you're dealing with trying to get a new ship or fixing the Mary. And then there's a whole bunch of I love, I'm a sucker for espionage. And this and this is this has a whole bunch of espionage shit going on in here. And like, man, this is really good fucking art, man. Sean.
SPEAKER_03It was pretty good. I love I love the introduction to Frankie. Frankie was literally like a number two for me. Overall, I mean, it's a good, it's a good uh show off for uh Usan. Yeah, I like that he he literally stood on business. He fought against his own captain. And literally meant meant everything he was saying, and it just showed the better community that Luffy is building with his own crew because he didn't just abandon him after that fight. He handled it like then. Yeah, it's a business like then.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Alright, John.
SPEAKER_01Go ahead. Yeah, dude. This might be the best world building, at least at this point in One Piece. Like we're knock out in Jaya. This probably the best world building. I think Water Seven is one of the most fun locations we've got in the series. It's so cool. Like, this is obviously, you know, technically Long Green Long Lands the first, but this is really when we started getting into them better animation days of One Piece. I think Luffy Usopp is legitimate top 10 contender for best fight in One Piece. It's I think Frankie's awesome. I love his dynamic with the crew. And to build off a little bit of what Sean was saying, I like that when Usopp loses, they're like, yo, this is like the crew feels broken here. It feels like that match. Like, this isn't just like, oh hey, he fought and he lost and he's gonna come back. Like, no, he's gone.
SPEAKER_00He's gone. This isn't yeah, it's not not no mistake, yeah. But I'm gonna tell you one thing, I was waiting on you guys to break up because I didn't mention it.
SPEAKER_02Oh, the Larry.
SPEAKER_00No, let's not let's not forget about Tom's story.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, that one's a good one.
SPEAKER_00Tom's story, Tom's Tom, because you get Tom and you get Icebox and you get Frankie's story all in one. Like, dude, that that happens in that happens in uh Water Seven. So yeah, like that, dude, that's a heavy ass story.
SPEAKER_02That is.
SPEAKER_00That's a heavy ass story. That's a fucked up story. And then, but yeah, man, it's really good, dude. Like, and then like dude, I like I said, man, I I think it's it's it's more than solid. It's it's peak one piece, I think. I think it's very peak one piece because you get the straw hats getting framed for murder or attempted murder. You got them trying to figure out, you know what I mean, on a headhunt with a storm rolling in. It's a I mean, it's a lot to deal with. It really is. It's a lot to deal with. And then you got the conflict within the ranks with Usopp and them and Luffy. But yeah, man, and then Usopp got it, I mean, got his ass whooped out on the street looking like a beggar for money and shit. Yeah. Everybody's conflicted, like everybody's conflicted, even Luffy's conflicted, even though he's not showing it. Oh, everybody but my boy Zorro. Everybody but my boy Zorro. He's standing 10 toes down.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and I do like that everybody's got a different reaction, like it is important for us to see. Yeah, but yeah, like they are all reacting differently, they all feel different about like what's going down, and and and even the fact that like you know, Mary is the catalyst for all of this. And when they're like, we can't fix her, there's no doing this, yeah. Everyone's like, oh, we can't fix her, and they've been building this to for a minute, but like in this moment, like the realization sets in of like so she's not coming out of this, like we're just done. Yep, it's it's over. Uh and like this is a spectacular section of one. Oh, and the Robin stuff. I think Robin and like you said, Anthony, like the espionage of everybody sneaking around, her, you know, her being involved with CP9.
SPEAKER_00Well, we don't know that way, yeah. But we don't know where, yeah, we don't know what's going on, really. We just know they're mass people. And what we find out, we find out who they are at the end of Water 7. Yeah, we they find out like right at the end of Water 7, you're right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, or okay. Are we gonna separate these two? We're gonna rank them together. Yeah, we're gonna separate them.
SPEAKER_00We're gonna separate them. So we're gonna we're gonna jump in. All right, what do you rank water seven, John?
SPEAKER_01You know, I've been trying not to give these fives out willy-nilly. This is a five.
SPEAKER_00Sean, what do you give water seven? I'm giving it a four. I gotta give it a five, brother. I gotta give it a five. Like, I think this is a great art. I think this is a great art. This is like one piece shines here. Artistically, it shines here. Like, you guys talk about the narrative and backstories. Y'all sold me on one piece on that, and this is one of those. And you always claim about how how hard, like how how emotionally depth. This is probably the most outside of drum island, the most emotionally depth fight that we get, or emotionally depth that that kind of conflicted that the the straw hats come to that I've seen. You know what I'm saying? With the whole, like, you know what I'm saying? It's basically this is civil war. This is this is Captain America Civil War. The only difference here is nobody goes with Usopp, even though Chopper wants to.
SPEAKER_01And you know, they make that a good point, too. Cassandra, you like, yo, if you help him, you're just making it worse.
SPEAKER_00Worse, yeah. Yeah. So, like, yeah, I mean, like, I gotta give it a five. I'm surprised Sean went with a four here, but I that shows me where he's going with Andy's lobby. But hey man, uh, but yeah, all right, Sean. Lead off with Andy's lobby.
SPEAKER_03And he's lobby, man.
SPEAKER_00And to be fair, to be fair, any's lobby starts as soon as they get on the train.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, that's to be fair, guys. Me and Anthony both agree this is just one big arc, but for the sake of uh the video, we're gonna separate them.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Go ahead, Sean.
SPEAKER_03The reason why I wanted this arc specifically is because I actually stopped watching One Piece after War of Seven. I literally dropped One Piece and picked it back up right after any lobby. And it was I felt bad because that scene was just so good.
SPEAKER_00I don't know what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_03And then us getting a new character just made it a peak for me.
SPEAKER_01John, this art's been out in 20 years. You you don't have to be afraid of spoilers, money.
SPEAKER_03It's just that scene was just so good. And then it it's the same thing that feeds back to why I love One Piece so much because of just the emotional backstories that they give you. You have then you learn a little bit about Robin, and then that whole scene of like who he finally like he figured out what she wants, who she is, and and he gave her that one response is Robin, what do you want to do? And she says the most emotional thing I've heard in the One Piece story, and that hit right to my core. She said, I want to live. I want to live like and then that was the moment where they declared war on the the world government. Yep. And I feel like Sniper King, Sniper King, shoot it down.
SPEAKER_00Bro, you know what's crazy? As this man says this, I as this man said this, I got goosebumps. That's fucked up. Like, damn that's I ain't making this up. I ain't making it up, bro. I ain't making it up. I promise you, I got goosebumps.
SPEAKER_03That's what I'm saying. Like that what like that whole scene, and these lobbies is my literally number one favorite art. Because it's just there's just so much to love in that one scene.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03It's just like, and this I feel like this is where they uh like this is this is that moment where the straw has become that pirate crew for me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I got you. My own my only my only gripe, I think that scene is epic. I think that scene is a five alone, right? My only problem right here is when they jump off of that of that uh of of of that tower. When when when when Kokoro tells them to jump off the tower, they jump off the tower. But it takes four to five episodes to get back to where we're at. Because we get straight fucking recap for four to five episodes, and it kills the momentum. That's the only problem I have with with with with that specific part. You set up a beautiful moment just to kill it with recap. And I'm pretty sure if if I'm talking to manga, we're not talking to manga, we're talking strictly the anime. It's not like that. I know it's not. And it does it because it recaps every person, how they how they got up with Luffy. And maybe it's the Benjamin in me. Maybe if I was watching it when it came out, I wouldn't feel like that. But like I gotta take into account of how I absorbed the media. And I absorbed it by screaming, streaming it. And I didn't need four or five episodes of recap. I needed to see where where they fell into. You get what I'm saying? And I felt like it took a it didn't take away from the moment per se, but it killed the momentum of of where we were going.
SPEAKER_01And but like I said, that's an issue with one piece as a whole. That's an issue with one piece as a whole.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but like, but it did, but I still rank that moment as probably one of the best. I put it right there up with I put that moment up there with the whole Nami stabbing herself in the arm, Luffy stabbing herself in the face. I put it up there with when does a man really die? Like, I put it up there with some of the best moments in, you know what I'm saying? I put it up there with the with the no look goodbye to Vivi. I put it up there with some of the best moments in One Piece. But you know what? Those moments have over that moment, they don't have a recap at the end of it.
SPEAKER_01They don't. That's that's a big one, I will admit it.
SPEAKER_00That's the only problem I have with that moment. And and it's not One Piece's fault, it's the people who made it that they edit the fucking show.
SPEAKER_01It's the fact that they didn't take like a couple months off in between the anime.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So but like I said, the ball to get ahead. But that like I said, that's the only problem. As a person watching this show, that's but it doesn't take away from the show. I mean, it doesn't take away away from the moment, it just kills the momentum going forward. But let's let's jump into these fights. Let's jump into these fights. Okay, wait, wait. Shop real quick. Oh, yo, yo, yo, go ahead, John. Go ahead, go ahead. Go ahead, John. Go ahead. Because you didn't give your yeah, dude.
SPEAKER_01This is this is the definition of the highest of highs, I think. From moments like I want to live and Robin's backstory, like chicken will bring you to tears, bro. It's so fucking incredible. It's probably outside of a handful of moments, probably one of the better faced fights in One Piece.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Or one of better faced arcs in One Piece, I'm sorry. Where this arc really stumbles for me is there's a couple fights that go on way too fucking long.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they do. Um but like I said, I mean, but like I said, I'll tell you, I'll tell you though, I I did enjoy any lobby a lot. Like, even from the train, dude. Like, you had Sanji disconnecting the train, you know what I'm saying? Usa becoming sniper king. I did not think I was gonna like Sniper King. I I called both of y'all, and I was like, what did I call y'all nask? I said Sniper King or what? Y'all remember? It was oh man, I can't remember. I said Sniper King.
SPEAKER_01Sniper King or Fox King?
SPEAKER_00No, I said Sniper King or Seiya Man. Oh, that's what it meant. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So damn, like, dude, it was like I said, then like I ain't gonna lie. Now I would have to take Sniper King over the great Sayer Man. Because Sniper King is fucking useful. Go on, Gohan is useless in Sniper is fucking great Sayer Man. Yeah, but nah, man, damn, and he got a cool thing song. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Sniper King has a dope thing song that I I found annoying at first, but I like it. And then Luffy and fucking Chopper not knowing who the fuck he is, is priceless. Yeah. But but like shut up, shut up, Sean. But hold on, hold on, but I but I gotta I gotta get I gotta give one more moment. I gotta give one more moment before we get there. I know I know everybody talks about the go and marry situation or whatever, but I my favorite go and marry moment is when she talks to everybody and everybody says, you know what I'm saying, to the sea, into the sea. That moment, bro, that's the moment. That that's an underrated moment.
SPEAKER_03Man, uh, can I add to that? Because I I sadly I did forget about that moment, but I I kid you not. That was the and this is why I love this episode that arc so much. Because that moment literally almost brought me to tears.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like jump on everyone. That moment right there, to me, and and I know it's a hot take, and I told both of y'all this, and this first time audience, that moment for me hit harder than the goodbye going Mary to me. Because I guess because I I kind of got the goodbye going Mary's kind of spoiled or whatever, but the Mary popping up out of nowhere, saying, Come on, everyone, you know what I'm saying? I'll get us out of here, you know what I'm saying? This and that, that hit harder for me. Didn't cry, didn't cry. I'm just letting you know. But my son said he cried though.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, it's just like I mean to look, dude. If we're gonna if we just want to knock out the go and Mary's death real quick, it's a great moment. I think it is such an emotional crescendo. And I know Anthony went over how he thinks it's a little overrated, and I get it.
SPEAKER_00It is um, but I mean, I would listen. If somebody's listening for me, it's overrated. I'm not gonna knock how you feel. You get what I'm saying? Like, I I get it, it just didn't hit. If you guys didn't spoil it for me, then I would probably feel different. You get what I'm saying? But you spoiled it for me, not trying to spoil it for me. You spoiled it for me, trying to get me it, trying to sell me one piece. You get what I'm saying? Yeah, like like that's that's like that's where it got kind of spoiled for me. So I knew the shit wasn't gonna last.
SPEAKER_01Sean would oftentimes say, and and this is where I thought Sean was a little more of a one-piece glazer than maybe I'm giving him credit for. He hit me with, well, it made me cry over a boat, and it would always be the only argument Sean could ever provide on why one piece is.
SPEAKER_00Well, go ahead. Go ahead, Sean. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_03No, no, no. I was just gonna say it's just because that's just the impact that the like scene has. It's like that was just for me a hit personal because you know you watch it, and I grew up in the point where I was watching it weekly, like I didn't have streaming access to it. Yeah, where I can just get all the episodes. I had to watch every Sunday or Saturday morning on Tudami and watch it. So losing the going Mary for me was just like, oh snap, this is getting real.
SPEAKER_00And see, like with and but that's a lot of that's where it hits for a lot of One Piece fans, too, though. It hits it that's a lot, that's a big smile marker for them. But like, but like for me, dude, like I didn't like because y'all didn't spoil that for me about the Mary coming back for them. Like, I because at the time, I'm like, fuck, how they gonna get out of here? That's an that's the second moment in One Piece, like outside of uh little garden. I'm like, how the fuck are they gonna get out of here? Because they destroyed the Navy ship, and I'm like, how the fuck are they gonna get the fuck out of here? You know what I'm saying? Like, where the fuck are they gonna go? And and like Tennessee, and I'm like, no fucking way, no fucking way. And yeah, I thank God y'all didn't spoil that. Like, did that, but anyway, let's harp it, we're harping. Let's let's get into these fights and to some of these big moments so we can go ahead and wrap this up.
SPEAKER_01Okay, all right. Well, we we'll just run them down. I think I think I know these chronologically.
SPEAKER_00All right, let's start with Frankie versus Dipperface.
SPEAKER_02Pretty good.
SPEAKER_00I thought it was better than better than what I thought it was gonna be.
SPEAKER_01Better than I thought it was yeah, I I think my favorite part is when they just start beating the schnaws out of each other.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, better better than I thought it was gonna be.
SPEAKER_01I think that's really good, and I think I think the tension in a lot of this stuff is really good. So, yeah. Yeah. Um, any anybody got anything to add about Sanji versus Zipperface?
SPEAKER_00No, I mean, uh no, I think to me though, not for that moment, but uh my favorite moment in this whole thing was chopper. Chopper going that extra going chopper, not just chopper going hulk mode, bro. Chopper just going hulk mode. He's like, he's he didn't know what it was gonna be like taking that extra ball, and like, and last time he did it, he don't remember, and that's some bitch. That's that chopper there, boy. Yeah, that's a scary chopper. Yeah, it is, bro. Yes, it is, bro. That's a bad motherfucker, right there, boy. Yes, I'll tell you, I that that's probably one of my peak moments in in uh any lobby.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I was gonna say that's one of my favorite Eddie's lobby moments. I really like it, and again, it's it's also just that nice, like Chopper needed a moment to really like strut his stuff, yeah. And and this is that moment, right? It is that moment where he can kind of like show off and do his thing and and really let loose. Yep, so yeah, yeah. I did a great fight. So Nami versus Soap Girl, Khalifa. Uh I thought it was okay. I I think this is fine and it runs on too long.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I thought it was okay.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, that was pretty okay.
SPEAKER_01I thought it was okay. I'm sorry, Sean. We cut you off during chopper. I I feel like we we No, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_03I agree with that chopper fire. That chopper fight was it was good. Yeah, I think really him just going all out just to save his friend and I'll and I love that scene.
SPEAKER_01Okay, and then we got after that it would be oh before this, we did the Sanji calling.
SPEAKER_00I don't like no I like the uh Sanji versus the wolf though.
SPEAKER_03I I love that Sanji versus the the soap girl. I love that fight. Because it just shows why I love Sanji so much.
SPEAKER_00I mean he's not gonna fight a girl. Yeah, he's not gonna fight a girl. Exactly. I mean, I mean, even like dude, they even doubled down on it in thriller bark. So I mean I can't be mad at that. His this nigga's listen, it's so it's so embodied in his damn DNA, his zombie won't fight a girl.
SPEAKER_01There's that, I just can't stand he won't fight a girl, and then you get the extra little like spit in the face of oh, here this goes. Now, you know, like your friend's about to die, but you're willing to lose this fight because you won't break your morals. That was kind of my thing with it. Yeah, but like that's what people like it. I get it saying character, but I just don't like it.
SPEAKER_00But what I'm saying, though, if that's the case, then we can't like Batman for not killing Joker because he killed Jason Dott.
SPEAKER_01I see what you're saying, but with this one, like it never goes anywhere. Like it doesn't ever like develop into anything. Like I get what you're coming from.
SPEAKER_00I'm just saying, it's just a character trait, it's his morale. Like that's that's what how he was raised. That's what he believes in. I mean, I can't knock him for it.
SPEAKER_01All right, all right. I get it, I get it. But so then we can go about Sanji versus Wolf Guy. What do you think? I do like this fight.
SPEAKER_00I like that fight. I like that fight. It's out of nowhere, you don't expect it, and yeah, it's it's pretty damn good.
SPEAKER_01We get our first Diablo Jambe.
SPEAKER_00Oh, but first we got first we got Usa. First we got Sniper King and and Zoro handcuffed fighting the wolf guy and the giraffe dude.
SPEAKER_01Okay, alright, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Um, it just goes on too long.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's all it is. It does go on too long. It's played for last and it becomes not funny after a while.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I I agree with that.
SPEAKER_01It was not a terrible fight, but it's just about the the wolf fight, because I mean I know Sanji is your boy.
SPEAKER_03That was a good fight. Yeah, it was an alright fight.
SPEAKER_00I think I think out of all the straw hats, I think. So this is tell me if I'm wrong, okay. And this way we ain't gotta go down on the name of all. I think Luffy's fight on the rooftop is dope because you get gear two for the first time. I think Sanji versus the Wolfman, Frankie versus Imperface, and then you got my boy Tony Tony Chopper versus uh versus every fucking body that he yokes out. That shit's fucking good.
SPEAKER_01And then that's that's that's pretty on point. I think especially because like we did kind of skip over that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Luffy versus uh Luffy versus him on the on the roof, yeah. That was a pretty good one, and then he went gear two.
SPEAKER_01That's great. I it feels good too. It feels good.
SPEAKER_00My only problem my only problem with gear two, it just doesn't come off as epic as it should feel.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's got the same problem with a lot of the transformations, and it's like I wish they were just built up better in One Piece, yeah. But let's you guys ready to talk about the mammoth fight, the big big boy? Go ahead. Luffy versus motherfucking Lucci. Is debatably the best fight in One Piece. It's it's well choreographed, which is something a lot of One Piece fights don't have. Excuse me. It's pretty well animated. Something a lot of One Piece fights don't have. It's got a great villain and a great hero in it.
SPEAKER_00I said it was okay.
SPEAKER_01It's a guy.
SPEAKER_00I thought it was okay.
SPEAKER_01It's fantastic.
SPEAKER_00I love how it's brutal and I personally think it's okay. Not not saying it's a bad fight. Not saying it's a bad fight. I just think it's okay.
SPEAKER_01Oh, just quick pinning it.
SPEAKER_00Zoro versus giraffe guy, we all agree is kind of mid. Yeah. I mean, I think I think I think Zorro versus Giraffe Guy is like a two. I think Lucci versus Luffy is like a 3.5. I think Luffy's fight on the roof is better than Luffy's fight versus Lucci. That's my opinion. That's I said that's my opinion. You might differ. I feel like gear two hits different. Emotionally, Lucci versus Luffy is better, but I feel like the fight itself is better. That's what I'm saying. That's my opinion. When he bro, when he goes gear three and he punches him out the fucking wall. Yeah, I I feel like like that's what I'm saying. Like, I think the moments, Luchi versus Luffy has better moments. I will say that. But I feel like the fight itself, like oh buddy going into the different dimension doors and Luffy hitting the damn gear two, you know what I'm saying, and all that, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_01I mean, then we got my favorite moment from this one, Eric and Sean. Well, uh, I'll let you go next here, buddy. The I'll win no matter what after the Usopp speech, bro. That is so good. It was so necessary for Usopp to finally like lay out like, yo, I believe in you. So, like, get your head out of your ass and win this shit. Because we gotta win this shit, bro. Luffy gets up, and when you hear that, I'll matter what, he fucking screams. I'm like, yes, and then they just start beating the shit out of each other, and then he does the gum gum gatling, and then he punches him through another fucking wall, and it's great.
SPEAKER_03I'd agree with that. I mean, I I feel like I feel like that fight, the Robolucci fight, was probably the best fight in that uh in that arc. I'm sorry, Anthony, but I just said I just feel like John. That was the final villain, and he stood up to it. He stood up to it.
SPEAKER_00Like I said, I just feel like it's okay. I just I be real, like I just thought it was okay. I didn't it didn't hit the like I don't know. It just didn't do it for me. It's okay. I'm being real, like I it just like okay. Here's my problem with One Piece. The fights feel like rinse and repeat. That that's just that being real, that's just that's my biggest gripe with One Piece. It feels like I've seen this before. Like the moments I will give you. But like the moments, like him getting knocked out into the fucking ships and stuff like that. No, I haven't seen that before. But I just feel like I've seen this before. I've there's not enough diverse diverse in movements for me to, you know what I'm saying? I don't know. It's just that.
SPEAKER_01One piece doesn't ever look different. It's fights don't ever look diverse enough to separate.
SPEAKER_03No, it doesn't. See, but that that's something I can't agree with because each one of the fights that they've gotten into, especially leading up to this point, all have different build-up, different reasonings why these kind of things are.
SPEAKER_00Okay, but but that's not what I'm saying. I'm not saying that. I'm not saying the reasoning okay, but I'm saying if you can take okay, here what I'm saying. You could take the choreograph of Luchi's fight with Rob Lucci and take Lucci's fight with somebody like Crocodile. Luffy does the same exact fucking moves, is what I'm saying. The only difference is Luffy added water and blood against Crocodile. Whereas in Rob Lucci, he went gear two. That's it. It's the same movie. It's gum gum pistol, gum gum gatling, gum gum rocket or whatever. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, whatever. I'm just I'm I'm just saying I need a little more, like there's no, how was I say, there's no depth to his arsenal. You get what I'm saying? And there's no, and like I said, it's it's in like I'm still taking on faith that his arsenal will get more depth to it. I'm just it just didn't impress me. Like John hyped this fight up for me, and it just didn't it didn't live up to the hype for me.
SPEAKER_01I can I can understand. I I maybe made the mistake of putting a little too much stock in how weird I thought this fight was for you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, okay, but it and then like what caught me off guard was him going gear two for the first time. I think they should have fucking saved that for Rob Lucci. They should have saved, they could have saved all that for Rob Lucci. But I get you had to show that Luffy it had consequences to it. You could have still showed that against the fight with Rob Lucci because the fight left where Luffy, where Lucci knocked the hole in the wall and started flooding the bottom of the uh tower. You could have still showed that. You get what I'm saying? But like I said, I'm not knocking the fight. The fight just did it. I think Crocodile was a better fight. I think I still think the fight was better than Inaru's fight. But even though I think Inaru's fight had a little more diverse to it, but like I said, it's just like I said, I don't like I said, I'm just needle, I just like all right, Sanji versus Naruto. All right, yeah, they have their their trademark moves, but their but their fighting styles have more versatility to it, and that's just because they study ninjutsu, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_01That's all it is.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, what I'm saying. Whoa, the best. Why I would have to uh disagree with this because you also gotta understand that their journey just started. What was it? I think from the start of that to where they're at now, it's only been about five months.
SPEAKER_00I'm I'm not still I mean, there's still that's that's what I'm saying. Like they're not they're not healthy or getting stronger. That's why I reiterated that I'm taking it on good faith that they would diversify their their arsenal. That's why I said that I'm not I'm not holding against it, I'm not calling it a bad fight. It just didn't do it for me. I'm not saying like, oh, this fight's trash. It's just didn't it didn't live up to the hype for me. I'm not saying it's a bad fight.
SPEAKER_01This is a good thing we have Sean here. We're not gonna counter that point, though, Sean. You we're I understand in universe time, it's only been like a few months. Doug, in real world time, it's been 350 episodes.
SPEAKER_03Like I mean, yeah, I I get that, but you can't just have one moment of oh, here these new pirates just started their own crew and they're doing things, and all of a sudden they just have this huge crazy arsenal.
SPEAKER_00Okay, but but hold on. Because but but but at the same breath, you want me to believe that Luffy with no training created gear two and gear three without any training.
SPEAKER_03I mean, yeah, I I do get that, but when they explain how it works, I mean it somewhat makes sense. He's just like increasing his blood flow.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but what I'm saying is if he's gonna Yeah, but I'm not doctor. I'm not knocking it. I'm just saying, like he has fought literally, he's went, he's fought like six people, you know what I'm saying, and still like and like he still uses the same mood. And I get like in the time skip, he's gonna go train or whatever. That's cool. But like I said, I'll I'll wait till after then to like I said, I'm not knocking nothing. I'm just telling you, it just didn't do it for me. I'm not trying to sway your opinion, you know what I'm saying? I'm not trying to sway nobody's opinion. I'm not trying to say, I'm just telling you, it I it didn't live up tonight for me. Like, do I think that fight okay? It as far as big boss fights, right? We're talking big boss fights, right? Do I think that fight is better than Rockley and Modern, and what's my boy? Rockley versus Gara? Gara. No, it's not better than Rockley versus Gara. It's not better than Goku versus um Frieza. It's it's it's not better than it's not better than damn Goku versus Super Boot because of the diversity of the damn fight. Is it a bad fight? No, I'm not saying that. I'm just saying I I'm I'm waiting to see where Lucci goes to. Yes, that's all I'm saying. But in world, in world, I didn't compare it to that. I compared it literally to Luffy versus Luffy. And to me, I enjoyed Luffy beating old buddy on top of the roof more than I did. I think, okay, what I'm saying is I feel like the stakes were higher with Rob Lucci. The moments were bigger with Rob Lucci. But I feel like the fight team, like the fighting itself was better with Luffy and the uh guy on top of the roof. But I feel like the stakes, yes, were higher with Rob Lucci. I feel like the the tension was better with Rob Lucci. The emotion, yes. All that was present, you know what I'm saying? I'm not saying it wasn't, but like the fighting itself, you know what I'm saying? Like Luffy trying out a new movie the first time, not knowing how it's gonna go. I feel like, you know what I mean? Like it just hit a little different for me.
SPEAKER_01Fair enough. I mean, I guess I guess we've said most of what we want to say about this section. You guys want to read the epilogue?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, let's do that. So overall, what what are we giving? What are we giving what are we giving him in his lobby?
SPEAKER_01Oh oh, you don't want to count the the the ending stuff, like with them leaving in his lobby?
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. We can do it. We can do all that. Let's go ahead.
SPEAKER_01I was like, I'll be fast. I think seeing Kobe's great. I love the the fact we get to see everybody's bounties. Garp is a fantastic character, and I think Luffy and Kobe's conversation is fantastic. And finally, I think Usoff's apology is a good one. I think Usoff's apology is not just well like well earned and well built up, but fantastic and genuinely needed to happen. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Sean, go ahead. Overall we would not really much more I can really add to that. I mean there's one.
SPEAKER_01In my own opinion.
SPEAKER_03In my own opinion, by far the best arc in One Piece.
SPEAKER_01After what we said.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the emotion. Yep. Out of everything, I mean between just these the arcs that we've covered, there's only two that I really feel like deserve that number one spot. But I do feel like any l any's lobby is for me personally is that number one. Just because of the story, what we've lost, the characters that were gained, the backstory that was told, showing that Luffy cares deeply about his own crew, and the level that he showed more than once that he would go through, not just for Robin, but for everybody. Any of them shows depth and so much level for Luffy as a character, for his crewmates, and just not giving up at all, even towards like even fighting impossible wins. I feel like Emmy's lobby is the peak for what we've gotten in these last arcs.
SPEAKER_00First yeah, the first half of One Piece making first quarter.
SPEAKER_01Anthony, I I there was one thing I didn't touch that's in this arc that I know you want to talk about, but I'm gonna let you I'm gonna let you be the one to bring it up.
SPEAKER_00I mean, like I said, you get the introduction of the Sonny. I think that's pretty cool. I think like I said, Luffy's grandpa actually touched down like who he really is, their relationship. What you did what didn't you touch on? Do what, Anthony? What didn't you touch on? Ace versus Blackbeard. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We also get that. That is that is that is them great. We do get Ace versus Blackbeard, which is by far the best fight in that whole fucking arc. I'm sorry. Kiss my ass. Oh, so what? That is the oddest. Kiss my ass, so what? Best fight in the whole arc. And it shows what powers can be. Got me looking forward to the future. I think, like I said, coming off all this, and it got me ready to gear up and watch more one piece. The apology for Usopp, definitely well needed. They should have just left his ass in water seven. Should have just left his ass in water seven.
SPEAKER_03You know what? They should have just dropped him into Sniper King instead.
SPEAKER_00That's right. They should have just dropped him into Sniper King. The Sunny is a great addition. It really is. And but like I like I said, man, I enjoyed it. I really am. I really do. I really enjoy it. I think it's a great arc. For me, like I said, it's definitely a heavy contender for the best art so far that I've seen.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna say this this is how I'm gonna rank it. I think it's safe to go ahead and throw out our rankings. Okay. As an individual arc, Eddie's lobby, I give a 4.5. As a saga, I would give it. Yeah, I'm lying to myself. Okay, it's it's a 5.5. It's fucking great. Fuck you, Sean, for ruining my joke.
SPEAKER_03I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_01Um, but I I think as a saga, it's it's a 4.5. Like I think if you include Water Seven and Eddie's lobby together, with some of the pacing issues, it's a very good 4.5, and it's the best arc in One Piece. At this point that we've covered. We haven't gotten to my favorite arc yet, but don't worry, guys. We come back for part two, we'll get there.
SPEAKER_03Oh man, hopefully we get a two-hour long part two because I really want to talk about it.
SPEAKER_00This is dead. I give any lobby, I give any lobby a solid. Even though with the whole, I only think I got against it is that Luffy versus Luci didn't wow me. It's not a bad fight. I'm not saying that, so come for me if you want to. I don't give it in. Not a bad fight, it just didn't wow me. I think it's a solid art. It's very good. It you lose a it's it's a lot of heavy stuff covered in this art. And they do it well, they really do. They do it well in this art. And it and it it goes from really dark to really uplifting towards the end. Which which was needed. But to me, to me, the number one art out of we discuss today is drum island. I'm sorry. That's just my opinion. Yeah, it's still my favorite. It's still drum island.
SPEAKER_03And that's the thing I I can't I can't disagree with them on that because drum island's really good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think I think if you if I'm being real, Water Seven in his lobby is one B and Drum Island is one A. Or if somebody said different, I'll agree. I can I can't disagree. They're definitely the two best arts in One Piece that I've seen so far. And I'm still on this journey. I'm I'm 400 episodes into one piece. And damn near, damn near 400 episodes into one piece. And I can't wait to see where it goes. I can't wait to get the whole cake. Can't wait to get to the the little what two-year break, ain't it like a two-year break or whatever? I can't wait to see it.
SPEAKER_03You're almost there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I want to see how much these cats go. I want to see where Luffy gets the chess guard. I'm ready to see where a lot of this growth happens.
SPEAKER_01I want to see. Here's what I'll say. We'll eventually return to this with a Dragon Ball video, and you're gonna really see the difference in how Sean and Anthony feel about Dragon Ball. And oh, is that gonna be a fun time?
SPEAKER_00Sean loves Dragon Ball. He's just he's just he's just he's just become such a damn anime damn snob now. Yeah, yeah. He he forgets. He likes not too long ago, Naruto was his favorite anime. Now he can't stand it because he's watched it too much. But like I said, he loves Dragon Ball, he loves Naruto. It's just he watched him too much. That's all it is.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I have no real hard grips about it. It's just when it's a daily thing, almost 24 hours. It's it's it's not.
SPEAKER_00I mean, and I blame his sisters. That's all I'm saying. I blame his sisters. Yeah. But guys, I'm ready for the I'm ready for the bleach episode. That's that's like another year or two. But guys, this has been an extended, probably a two-parter. I ain't gonna lie. We're probably gonna split this thing up in two parts. I don't even know how long we've been on this this this podcast, but uh guys, this has been an extended well edition of one take real talk. Thank you, Sean, for being a part of this episode. Next one and coming on the pond for the going married slash always sunny in Philadelphia. But anyway, guys, this is all this has been one take real talk, and it was all in one take.
