Anthony and John discuss new Grandtheft auto news and Sony’s decision to stop selling physical games.
What's going on, guys? I am the Black Sheep, Anthony C. And I am the big John V. From South Carolina, all the way to Cali. This is another edition of One Take Real Talk on movies, games, and I hate to say it, but I did tell you some pop culture. Yeah, guys. Today, man, we're just all general news, pop culture. Today we're going to touch on a little bit of GTA 6, which blends into the big Sony news that dropped today. And honestly, it bleeds in a little bit more than that. The state of video games as it is. So, John, so the big news, I talked about it last week on my TikTok, about Sony, uh, not Sony, but uh GTA dropping two editions. Rockstar. Rockstar announced that they're dropping two editions for GTA, the standard edition and ultimate edition, one being $80 and the other being $100, and that they are releasing a physical copy, but that physical copy is coming with asterisk. And it's being that physical copy is basically a case with a code to it.
SPEAKER_03Sounds about right.
SPEAKER_01You wasn't right because you didn't call that. I was right. You didn't call that. I did. I told you physical gaming was dying.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, but that's just that that's neither here nor there, though.
SPEAKER_01So I mean, as a collector, as a collector, right? I have no I have no gripes with here's my thing. If you want to charge $100 for your game, okay, whatever. I was prepared to pay, John will tell you, I was prepared to pay like $150 for Grand Theft Auto 6.
SPEAKER_02Let's be real. Anthony, if the game was $500, you were paying for it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but here's the thing. I was prepared to pay for a collector's edition. I wanted, I was still, I'm still a little upset I didn't get the the lockbox from Red Dead 2. So I and I didn't get the save from Grand Theft Auto 6. So being financially more stable now than what I was back then, I felt like I wanted to splurge on Grand Theft Auto 6. And the fact that they are only dropping basically two editions, and basically everything is digital, it kind of hurts my feelings, man. It really does hurt my feelings.
SPEAKER_03So this is my thing. The game being all digital doesn't surprise me.
SPEAKER_02Unfortunately, we're moving to an era where sadly, breaks my heart, physical gaming is dying.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_02And not only is it starting to wear out, but GTA 6 being the first proprietor of it also doesn't surprise me. I mean, isn't it?
SPEAKER_01It's not the first proprietor. The first proprietor is Mario Kart for the all gone, Mario Kart World for the damn Switch 2. So don't that is not a GTA 6.
SPEAKER_02Like real like, let's be real. You and me don't know Mario Kart's not as big as GTA 6.
SPEAKER_01Okay, but still at the same time, it is not first. It was Mario Kart.
SPEAKER_03One of the first big proprietors.
SPEAKER_02Like, all I can say is, unfortunately, much as I hate it, much as I don't want it to be true, it doesn't surprise me that it happened to GTA 6.
SPEAKER_01I mean, um, was I surprised? A little, I was upset more than surprised. I'm gonna say that. Because I collect a lot of physical media, John will tell you that. I I'm a big proprietor into collecting, and I think this hurts gaming more than it helps gaming. But I get it that most of the sales are digital now, and you're just trying to save yourself some money. But it's just, I don't know, it's just something I knew we were going the way of digital 10 years ago. When you used to go, because let me tell you guys, let me take you back in time, guys. There was a time you used to go buy a game, right? And when you buy said game, you opened it. And you got your game. Yes, you got the disc or cartridge or whatever, but you got a manual. You got, if the game was open world, you got a map, and then you got so much other stuff inside of it without being in the deluxe edition, it's just a standard game. And that manual was so in depth, like you would read it all the way home, so excited, build up so much anticipation to play the game. And you get home and play the game and you're ready. You already know what the controllers do, you know what controls do, you know, you're you're ready for everything. But what I knew we were slowly shifting towards digital is when I started buying games and they came with this little card that says use QR code to see instructions.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That wasn't a surprise. Yeah, it got so depressing, man. Like gaming got, it's just like, man, the the the theatrics of gaming are is dying. And you know what's sad? It's gonna come back in like 15 years. 15 years when on in 15 years, mark my word, 10 to 15 years, we're gonna be back to physical media because people are gonna get tired of digital, they're gonna want the game in their hand, and and and people are gonna, and they're gonna be like, man, what can we do to the spike up sales and and get people back into gaming, physical media. And and and they're gonna be a group of kids who don't know what physical media feels like, and it's gonna be such a retro niche thing. It's gonna like look at movie sales. Movie sales are through the roof now, and people are going back to the movies. It's gonna be it's gonna be this whole song and dance over again, man.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was like, the thing I I really noticed was you know, this is where the the hard part is yes, I get it, right?
SPEAKER_02It it is cheaper to produce digital media, but you like let's be real, Anthony, that's not even the real problem. No, the problem is that these are you don't own it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly. You're licensing, you're licensing your own product, you're paying money to license your game, to lease it until said corporation says, Yeah, you can't play this anymore. Yeah, because once it's gone, it's gone, guys. And it's like those green sprite bottles, they're not there anymore. Yeah. Once they say you can't have it anymore, you can't. There's a game. I uh there's a game called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I forgot the name of which one is PS3. Uh it's it's for PS2. Yeah, no, it's for PS3. For the PS3. You could download it on PS3, and the game got torn out of the PlayStation Store on the PS3, right? And you couldn't buy it for the PS3 though, for the PS3 anymore. The only way you could buy it is if you had a physical copy.
SPEAKER_02Or if someone had it digitally installed on their PS3, yeah. And you bought that PS3. PT, same problem. Yeah. Uh and for PT, anybody who doesn't know that's a playable teaser for uh Silent Hills that got canceled.
SPEAKER_01And this is like, man, dude, we're setting ourselves up for failure, and people are so short-sighted they can't see it. They can't fucking see it.
SPEAKER_03And I hate that this is what it's come to, but like, I mean, the other problem is people like this is something I've said.
SPEAKER_02Like, entertainment has become too convenient.
SPEAKER_01Yes, it has. Dude, I want my kids to experience Blockbuster, movie gallery, and stuff like that. It's dead. Netflix, Netflix killed it. Like, Netflix killed Netflix didn't kill the movie theater. Let's be real. Because Netflix, the movie, the movie theaters killed the movie theaters. Let's just say that. But Netflix didn't kill the movie theater. Netflix killed Blockbuster. Netflix killed your neighborhood mom and pop uh rental companies. Because Netflix spawned Hulu, which spawned fan, and they all spawned Fandango and all this stuff. Because Fandango, you could only purchase movie tickets from at one point in time. You know, and now you can like, dude, it's it's just not the same, man. It's like, dude, a Friday night, you go to Blockbuster and you get you one game, you're gonna play the weekend, your parents, they go get a couple of movies, you get that bucket of popcorn in there that you pop in the microwave, and then you go and you go pick up a few pieces or something, it's a Chinese takeout or whatever you're gonna have eat that night, right? And you go home, y'all watch a movie as a family, you then you go play your game, your mom and dad, they go watch a movie together, and it's a Friday night, bro. That's a good Friday night.
SPEAKER_03Well, then, like, okay, let's go the extra mile here, Anthony.
SPEAKER_02You obviously outraged me here, right? So you got a little more time with this than I did.
SPEAKER_03I grew up in a town where we had a movie gallery for about two years. You know what happened? Gamefly. Netflix.
SPEAKER_02And this was like, it's gonna show how old I am since I'm an old man too. This was Netflix when it was still 999. Yeah, 999, and they delivered you the movies. They sent it to you in the mail so you could put it in your DVD box.
SPEAKER_01That's back when Netflix was part, I think, with Redbox, I believe.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, the Redbox, which also, you know, we don't have anymore.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Redbox is dead.
SPEAKER_02And I hate to say it, because you know, like, this is the other thing. People get this idea that it's like movie buffs are so sentimental and like too nostalgia-based to have a critical thought. No, it's that we don't want to see the media die. Yeah, there are so many movies and games that if you don't own it physically, you'll never play it. Nope. Right? I don't know how deep into like the lost games you are, Anthony, of the PS2.
SPEAKER_01Oh, dude, I've you know I spent my days scrolling damn Facebook Marketplace and Macari looking for games that I I don't have in my collection. Dude, I I have a pair, I have a box full of PS2 games, bro.
SPEAKER_02All right, yeah, so you get exactly what I'm saying. So there's a game called Haunting Ground. I am a big survival horror guy. Resident Evil is one of my favorite series of all time. I really respect the silent hills. I want a Dino Crisis remake. All all. And there's this one game, which is a spiritual successor to Clock Tower, created by Capcom. It is called Haunting Ground. Haunting Ground goes on average for about $250 for the case. Yep. I did not say the game. I did not say the case with the game.
SPEAKER_03I did not say the case with the manual. I said the case. To play it is probably close to $700.
SPEAKER_02At least last time I checked. Maybe it's a little cheaper now. But I'd love to get my hands on this game. I would love to know what it's like to play it, you know, experience the fear meter and and get to try these things. But one, you gotta have a PS2 to play it, and two, you've gotta hope that the game isn't corrupted, because now this is the problem with physical media. Physical media holistically relies on maintenance, which is why we moved to digital. Digital relies on the actual servers. So there are pros and cons to both, but if you're not gonna back up this digital content, what how do I even guarantee my game seeking?
SPEAKER_01So, John, so I found haunting ground for PS2 complete the the book, the the case, and the game. You wanna take a guess? 800 bucks? Damn near $789. I was like, I knew it was fucking up there right now. Well, I found you one for uh $420.
SPEAKER_03Fucking hell, man.
SPEAKER_01Dude, John will tell you, I spent the better half of two years trying to find a decent version of Def Jam Fight for New York. And it was going for damn near $300 for the game and the case and the booklet and all that.
SPEAKER_03Like, and again, bro, like the last thing we want is for these games to be this fucking hard to get.
SPEAKER_01And that's what's gonna happen. So listen, you got the 20 uh so Grand Theft Auto's, but one thing I did like that Insomniac did, Insomniac came out and said, we're gonna release physical game, physical media for Wolverine. I thought that was cool, thought it was a little petty, but my man, yeah I I'm a I'm gonna get Wolverine, but my dude, you're not GTA 6.
SPEAKER_02No, I get, yeah, but like, okay, bro, you want me to pay a hundred bucks for a box? That's what GTA 6 is. It's a fucking box.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. For a box. No guess.
SPEAKER_02So Anthony knows I am a huge Kingdom Hearts fan. That is my favorite video game series of all time. He has heard me say it. I've unfortunately tried to inform him the truth, and people are gonna say I'm crazy when I say it on this podcast. That Kingdom Hearts 4 will be the single greatest game of all time. Yes, that includes it will be better than GTA 6. I didn't say it would sell better. Everybody fucking construes my words.
SPEAKER_01But no, it won't be. Because we can get into the mechanics of GTA 6 that has been a release, sir. It's nowhere near. It's nowhere near. So that's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_02We can get into the game that will surpass Final Fantasy VII is the greatest game of all time. Right.
SPEAKER_01And we're Acarina of time. Probably, probably the RPG aspect, but not. Greatest game of all time is right now is Red Dead 2, and it'd probably be GTA 6.
SPEAKER_03But we'll come back to that.
SPEAKER_02The last thing I want is Kingdom Hearts 4, that I have waited almost a decade for now to come out. I've gotten two fucking trailers. And then you know what's gonna happen? If I learn Kingdom Hearts 4 comes out and it's only available on digital, if I go and buy the physical case, it's gonna be a box with a code in it. That means I'm leasing my game that I waited a decade for, and God forbid they shut down the servers.
SPEAKER_03Guys, I hate to break your heart.
SPEAKER_02I hope you love GTA 6 that first year. Because if they shut it down in six months, well, Anthony, I hope those 13 years of waiting were worth it. Well, they won't, but yeah. I'm I'm just hypothetical. Hypothetical.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they won't, but uh yeah, you know. But yeah, man, on top of that news, Sony has come out and said in 2028, they would no longer be making physical media, they will no longer support physical media, and this is not reassuring. You know why? Because Sony themselves had, they made Blu-ray. Well, they're talking about physical gain media, let me clarify. But they just deleted like 700 movies that people bought from the PlayStation Store. And have not refunded them. No, and have not refunded them. Yeah, Sony, and then make things worse, not even an hour later, Microsoft doubles down on Sony statements and says the new Microsoft will probably be digitally only. Well, most likely they basically guarantee you that it would be digitally only.
SPEAKER_03Like that's again, that's just not a good feeling, bro.
SPEAKER_01It's not, bro. And then here's the thing, guys. I got two words for you. That shows you where the state of gaming is gonna be in the next five to ten years. Steam machine. And if you don't know what that means, it's a terrible thing. Because hardware is getting more expensive, components are getting more expensive, meaning gaming is getting more expensive. Meaning we're gonna pay more for consoles. And the steam machine right now is what, a thousand dollars, right? Open the price, like a thousand bucks. And guys, that's without a controller. Yeah, the Steam Deck is right now, okay. Not a Steam Deck Steam Machine, Steam Machine. Not a Steam Deck, Steam Machine. Oh, yeah, Steam Machine, Steam Machine is going for double check prices right now. I think it's like 1,080. I think it is. Something like that. Just for the Steam Machine.
SPEAKER_02The Steam Deck for the fucking Steam Deck was 1,080. Yeah, the Steam Deck is a 1050 or 1049 for the base 512 gigabyte model.
SPEAKER_01Yep, that's the controller.
SPEAKER_02Includes a steam controller. Yep. Due to higher hardware supply and component, cost prices are higher than originally anticipated. I'm sorry, did you say I have to pay fucking $500 for the fucking controller?
SPEAKER_01Storage in a controller, sir. Okay, I'm sorry. For the fucking controller? Yeah. So guys, everybody's laughing at Steam Deck. Y'all do realize this is gonna be true for PlayStation and Xbox, right? This is this is gonna be true. This is gonna this is Sony and Microsoft's future. Oh, well, everything you need is gonna be on the there, so we're gonna charge you extra for the controller. You can get it, but you're gonna have to pay extra for the controller. Because, guys, let me tell you, let me tell you how this went down. First, it was the games. Because when you bought games back in the day, whether they were broken or not, the games were complete. They were complete. That was it. You got everything in one game. They did away with that, started patching games, sending out games that wasn't all the way complete, patching them microtransactions. Right? Okay, then they took out your manuals, right? Now they're taking your fucking disc. Next, they're taking away all physical media. Next, what's next? What's the what's the next thing they gonna take away from you? What's glad? Anthony, how have I ever told you my gaming hot take?
SPEAKER_03What's that?
SPEAKER_02DLC and expansion packs are the worst thing to ever happen to gaming.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, dude. I mean, that's it's just all about easy money, man. Real talk. And And this is my thing, okay?
SPEAKER_02People are gonna say, oh join, but you need said your favorite video game of all time is Kingdom Hearts. And Final Mix exists and it's a fucking DLC pack. You're right, Final Mix is a DLC pack. But they've never re-released the original game. If you've ever wanted to fucking play Final Mix, it is fully available, PS3, PS4, PS5. Now, I'm not defending the fact that the rest of that shit is a fucking DLC pack, but they did it one time. If DLC for every game, like say God of War, what I think one of the gold standards for DLC is, was a one-time thing. I wouldn't hate it. I wouldn't think it's terrible. I wouldn't think it's one of the worst things to ever happen to gaming. Period.
SPEAKER_01Anthony, do you know how many DLC packs are in Dragon Ball Zenoverse 2? I don't know. I dropped Dragon Ball Zeniverse after the first game, bro. Okay, okay. I just want you to take a shot.
SPEAKER_0320. One more shot. 50. Oh, okay, okay. So pretty close. Right? Now I want you to remember. There's over 20 individuals. Right?
SPEAKER_02You you were you were right with with the 40.
SPEAKER_03I said 50.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah. These up until recently originally cost 17 to 10 10 to 17 dollars.
SPEAKER_03The game alone was 60. Yeah. So I mean let's be generous. Let's say they were all 10 bucks.
SPEAKER_02So now my $60 game is now a $260 game. Yeah, dude.
SPEAKER_01I mean, but that's it's all a cash grab, man. Like that's that's the way is how to make this game is make more money. That's that's the whole that's the whole thing, bro. That's the whole thing. And the uh like like I was telling people, like I was telling people about GTA Online, right? They were like, why haven't Rockstar said anything about GTA Online? Because Rockstar is not going to show gameplay at least two months, two to three months, I believe. This is their track record, two to three months before the game releases. So we're looking September, October, somewhere around there. I think September, I think September 17th, that'll be the 13th year anniversary of GTA 5. I everybody's like, what about GTA Online? You will hear about GTA Online, the new one, after uh we get gameplay about a single player and all that, right? But what I think they're gonna do, I think they're gonna make it as either you're on the pay a total price, basically like you're paying for another game, or it's gonna be a subscription base. They're gonna make you subscribe to fucking either DTA Plus or something like DTA Online Extra, some shit like that, to access this game. The online version. Someway, somehow, they're gonna make you pay more money. And even though they're already making money from the damn shark cards, they're already making money from them from the businesses and stuff like that. It's all a cash grab, dude. That's what it is. It's all a damn cash grab.
SPEAKER_02You know, I'm also gonna say this.
SPEAKER_01I think online gaming is part of what ruined gaming. I mean, you can point to everything, though, dude. It's it's not just one singular thing. No, no, that's uh yeah, look, what?
SPEAKER_02I it's considered I I know it's not solely DLC's fault, but DLC is my biggest, like, yeah, that was the worst thing in the fucking hair.
SPEAKER_01I'm just saying, but it's just not, it's a factor, it's a factor of things, obviously. But I'm just saying, yeah, it's it's it's like dude, it's so many variables to why we're headed in the direction that we're headed, and it's just sad, dude. Like, gaming is so far from where we begin. And and normally people say that, and it's a good thing, but it's not, bro. It's not, man. It this shit is we're jumping off the deep end, dude, in a bad way.
SPEAKER_03With all these things that can't be fixed, bro. Yeah, we're jumping off the deep end that way. I you know, and I want this is what makes me more upset, bro. I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna say this again, bro.
SPEAKER_02All right, Anthony. I know you haven't finished Naruto, but Boruto came out, right? Basically, nobody likes the first third of Boruto.
SPEAKER_01And like people put it in like F tier, right? Some people, but I know a couple people that like it. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Do you think I want the sequel to Naruto to be fucking S tier? Like, people get this fucking idea that I want to see it do bad.
SPEAKER_02No, and I don't want to see modern gaming do bad. I bought my PS5 specifically with the disc port because I like physical.
SPEAKER_01Physical media, yep.
SPEAKER_03And now I know fuck, I should have saved the fifty dollars. Yep. You know, it's so shitty that I have to feel that way. Yep.
SPEAKER_01You wasted your money. You wasted your money, man. I felt the same as I fa I felt the same exact way. It's so fucking bullshit, man. Yep. Why why spend the money, extra money for the Xbox Series X? You can just get the S now. You should have got the S. I mean, yeah, let's be processing power, but hell, everybody using AI now, it don't even fucking matter. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I mean, like, we can get into like some of the problems with AI.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but we ain't you know, dude. Listen, AI is the reason that components are high. But anyway, man, let's get into some positive shit. Okay, let's let I'm I'm I'm done dragging about this. But I do have some GTA features you want to talk about them.
SPEAKER_02Well, let's go down.
SPEAKER_01Let's go down to the disappointing game of the century. It's shit. Anyway, so they overhauled almost everything. It's gonna be, and here's what a lot of people are not realizing: it's gonna be more like the greatest game of all time, Red Dead 2, than more like GTA 5. That's the best news I've ever heard. That's the best news I've ever heard, right there. So apparently, you know, Red Dead had the honor system, right? Yes. So here, you're gonna have a trust system between Lucia and Jason, so depending on certain decisions you make. This is all, take this with a grain of salt, everything I'm saying, guys, but this is all but confirmed. Like through I've searched high and low. So you're gonna have a trust system, apparently, through certain in-game decisions that you make. And it's gonna it's gonna go into how they treat each other. And knowing Rockstar, I believe it, you know, because if you play Red Dead 2, you know that certain scenes play different depending on your honor system. Yeah, if you've got high or low honor. Yeah. So that inter that's interesting. Of course, wildlife is going to be bigger, a bigger factor in GTA 6 than it was in GTA 5. It's more like Red Dead. The combat system has been overhauled. The covering system has been overhauled. The combat system now, you got grappling, you can toss people, and it'd be more action-based fighting than just punching and whatever the hell that was in GTA 5.
SPEAKER_02I won't buy GTA 5's um melee combat was as weak as that. Yeah, you're you're now it's so floating.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So now it's like I said, it's gonna play more like Red Dead. Now you're gonna be able to pick up people and move them. They overhaul the stealth system. You're able to switch shoulders when shooting weapons. What else? Oh, yeah. Riding in cars, you're now able to move a full 360 hanging out car shooting. And you'll be able to be able to get around.
SPEAKER_02Very excited about that, by the way.
SPEAKER_01That's cool. Whereas in GTA 5, you're barely able to get your arm out. You're able to sit in the back of pickup trucks now and shoot from the back of there. Robberies are a big thing now. You're able to rob stores, diners, all types of things. And they're not just missions. You can literally go in and, you know what I'm saying, rob whatever you want to rob. And the NPCs, like what I what like, and if you go back and watch the first two trailers, they they tell Rockstar has so many nuanced ways of telling us what we're going to get. And we're just so in shock and awe that we're not picking up on the hints. So social media is going to take a big play in the game. So you can go viral for doing crazy shit in the game. And social media pings and stuff will be pinging on your phone, you know what I'm saying, about what you're doing, things in the world, and this and that. Every NPC is gonna have a life like Nred Dead. I'm telling you, dude. And shops will open and close, just like NRED did. You're gonna hear me say this a lot. That's what I'm saying. Take a shot every time Anthony says and Red Dead. I'm just saying, guys, it's the greatest game that's ever been made so far.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so it's crazy, guys, as we were off the cuff, as a little bit of a side tangent. Our our third secret co-host, Sean, when he comes on, right? Has been going through GTA 6.
SPEAKER_01And um, he's going through Red Dead thing.
SPEAKER_02I mean, yeah, yeah, Red Dead 2. And this man was on the phone with us the other day and goes, and I quote, man, this might be the greatest game of all time.
SPEAKER_01And Anthony Wick, I've never been prouder. That's right. I mean, one, the guy's playing the game because I told him. Me and Sean had played Red Dead online for years. He's just never played the story mode. And I've been begging John to tell you, I've been begging him to play the story mode because me and John had had a conversation like two years ago about Last of Us and Red Dead 2. Last of Us is a great game. I honestly think Last of Us is probably the third greatest game ever made. I'm just saying. Right behind The Witcher 3. That's just my opinion. I'm sorry, guys, if you get offended by it. I think Narrative. One of those games is not in Anthony's top three. Yeah. But I think, but I do think Last of Us is like the third greatest game of all time. But it's just not as good as Red Dead 2. Arthur Morgan is the greatest protagonist that we have gotten in video games, and Red Dead is the greatest video game that's ever been created. But anyway, back to what I was saying. You're able to so they overhaul the hacking cars now, jacking cars. So now you're no longer able to just get in a car and whatever. Yeah, you have to actually like key it open. Nah, they get they got slim gems, they got like a smart box, they got for different kinds of cars, you're gonna need different type of different type of things to crack into the car. I think that's pretty dope. Yeah, there's so much that like this game is overhauling. Yeah, they're overhauling everything about Grand Theft Auto. So the car, your car in Grand Theft Auto is just like the horse in Red Dead. Do with that information what you will. Well, I don't know. That horse in Red Dead always meant something to you. Yeah, but I'm saying is you're they're they're they're overhauling the way you think about cars in Grand Theft Auto. And your car is gonna house your loadout. So no longer will you be able to have everything in your loadout wheel. You're no longer able to house a thousand guns in your loadout wheel. You're only able to have a sidearm, a main gun, a knife, a throwable, and a bag, and like I think like a few little things, right?
SPEAKER_00It's like they let you have basically if you were actually a bank robber.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Yeah, you're gonna have a loadout, and you gotta be cautious of what your loadout is. The rest of your stuff is stored in your car. And again, Rockstar showed you this in the trailer because they have Jason and Lucia going in the trunk getting guns out.
SPEAKER_02Which I do like, and I do think that was a welcome change. And that's just one of the one of the downsides to GTA 5 is at a certain point in story mode, you've got so many guns, and you've got so many options with your guns.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It just doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_01No, it doesn't. And that's what I love about Red Dead. Like they fixed that problem in Red Dead. Like, yeah, you have a bunch of guns, but you have to be near your horse to swap your guns out.
SPEAKER_00And I hope you've only really got like two or three on your person.
SPEAKER_01I hope they you have, I think, four guns total if you have a front holster. If you have a front holster, you have four guns. You can have a max four guns at a time. I hope they bring the the cleaning system of guns in into this. I think that'd be dope. That'd be a dope thing. One thing I haven't heard that I want them to have is a gas mechanic.
SPEAKER_03You know, I'm a little mixed on that, but if it's there, I'm okay with it.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna tell you. I think it should just have the ability to get toggled on and off.
SPEAKER_01No, I think it needs to be on there because you need to think about your gas. I want to I'm gonna tell you why. Before you do a mission, you need to look at your gas hand and and like that's when it really matters. Because you don't know how this mission is gonna play out. You know what I'm saying? And if you ever played Mad Max, and you would think it'd get annoying in Mad Max, dude, it it makes the game more intense. I'm telling you, you it needs a gas mechanic. I hope they have it. You know, if they don't, whatever, it may have you, whatever. But I hope they have it. I really do hope they have it. One thing, oh yeah. So cops will no longer be able to just find you. They have to go through, people will either post you on social media, call the cops, whatever, may have you. And the cops will have to do it. Cops will have to investigate to find you. And there's different stages of cops. You got the low rank, you know what I'm saying, and then you got like all the way up to like kind of like federal, who will block off a perimeter so you can't so you can't escape. So you have, and swapping cars apparently will make you disappear from copsquare. Changing your disguise and all that stuff will help you disappear from cops.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, going home, changing your clothes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and changing cars, all that will help you disappear from copsquare. And cops aren't just gonna just shoot, apparently. I think it's gonna be dope, man. I really do. There's so many different mechanics in this game, man. I can't, I we'll be here all night trying to go over them all. You got boat racing, of course, is Florida. Like, dude, there's so many different now. Okay, so like in Grath of Auto 5, you go to mainly, they implement it online, but not so much in story mode. You go to one mechanic and you get everything. Here, you gotta go, different mechanics do different things. I think that's pretty dope.
SPEAKER_03That I do like as well.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think that's pretty dope. Dude, I just can't wait to get my hands on it. Oh, yeah, and the map is like twice the size of twice the size of Grand Theft Auto V.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that took me so long to fully explore. It's gonna take me forever to explore this game.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So, which I hope it ain't just empty area like Grand Theft Auto 5 was.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, GTA 5 had a lot of space, but really nothing to do.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. So I just hope.
SPEAKER_02You weren't driving or like in a shootout with the cops. There was really no reason to just explore the open world.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, man, I just I I want stuff that I really hope they lean into that uh strangers and all this other stuff that happens. Like, they had it in GTA V, but like they really, they really dove into it and read it.
SPEAKER_00It's very bare bones.
SPEAKER_02It's very bare bones. And people hate that I say that, but it is true. Yeah. Because the downside is because it is so bare bones, like you know, you'd find like the random missions where, like, oh man, you know, now I gotta fight these aliens or whatever. But it really doesn't do anything, you're just there. It's just like, okay, I played this one mission where I did the same thing over and over again. And one of the issues I had with GTA 5 is I do really think the mission structure gets very formulaic.
SPEAKER_03And I'd argue it gets too formulaic.
SPEAKER_02But with GTA 6, with how much they've introduced and how much they said they're going to have. But yeah, like no, and you know, one of the things that I'm also really looking forward to here is part of the problem with with GTA 5 is the game's structure and its mission formula gets very repetitive. Yeah. Like it is, you're in a car chase. Oh, you finished the car chase. Now you're gonna chase them on foot. Oh, now there's a gun mission. Oh, something you can only do in the mission this time, and you can never do it in the open world. Oh, there's the end of the mission.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and then like I see they're introducing like a fight club. That's gonna be pretty dope. You can play basketball. Oh, they're bringing back weightlifting. That's a good thing. Like, so body, body's change, they're gonna implement that from uh Red Dead. So, you know, Arthur can be big, small, or whatever. Your hair does grow over a period of time, i.e. Witcher 3. They they adapted that for the Witcher 3, guys. I'm sorry. Let me see. There's a lot, dude. I'm telling you, man, like this game is very promising. It is. And I'm very I'm looking forward to it. I hope it beats Red Dead 2. I hope it does. Like, features aren't enough to beat Red Dead 2. You gotta have a great protagonist. Two, you got two of them. You gotta have two great, I mean, uh you gotta you gotta have a great protagonist, you gotta have a great story, and you gotta make me care. And that's one thing I can't say Red Dead does. Red Dead, I don't care who you are, Red Dead makes you care.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I'm gonna get some flack for this, but I don't I I I want this game to do well. Okay, ever like all the jokes and hate that I make about it.
SPEAKER_03I do want this game to do well, Anthony. Do you know that? I know you do. Um huh?
SPEAKER_01I know you do.
SPEAKER_03Okay, but I am worried about the story.
SPEAKER_02I don't have high expectations for the story. And some people say that's a negative thought process. Why do you feel that way? Like, what makes you think that it's gonna be such a bad story? And I'm gonna tell you why. I don't think it's gonna be bad, I think it's going to be average. I think it's gonna be very average. One, Red Dead 2 is like one of the greatest video game stories of all time. It is exceptional.
SPEAKER_01And two, one, he said one. It's one of, yes, it is is the greatest, but go ahead.
SPEAKER_02It's hard for me to see how they can even come close to that when I feel like this just isn't gonna have the writing that the rest of the series did. Not because I don't think it's gonna be good, but because I think they're gonna have a hard time focusing on the story with how much they pumped into gameplay.
SPEAKER_01I mean, if it was anybody else, I'd be like, yeah, it's Rockstar, bro. It's Rockstar. I can't, I can't, I can't attack that. The only thing I'm worried about is the writing. Because this is the first thing they're doing without Dan Alt.
SPEAKER_03No, this is the first. And even then, he was still well, I guess he wasn't technically part of it at all, because you know GTA 6 has been in development for a million years. Like, if the world ended before GTA 6 came out, what would you do? What could I do?
SPEAKER_01Dream crying. Yeah, what the fuck could I do? Scream, moan, piss, and cry, that's all I can do.
SPEAKER_03Hey Anthony, what's wrong? Why are you so upset, man? The world ended before GTA 6. It's funny to me that One Piece got a remake before GTA 6. Technically it did. Well, it's one it's its remake is on the way. Technically it did, though. Fair enough. But yeah.
SPEAKER_01But guys, this has been a very different, I guess, take on one take real talk. We haven't had a great time. Are you looking forward to Grand Theft Auto 6? How do you feel about the absence of physical media in the future? Let us know in the comments. And guys, this has all been this has all been in one take. One shot. As always. Keep it real. Peace. Peace.
