Anthony and John discussed and a review the movie obsession!
What's going on, guys?
SPEAKER_01I am the Black Sheep, Anthony C. And I am watching this podcast. Okay. Anyway. John just ruined the whole fucking intro.
SPEAKER_03You know, I was expecting you to be like, oh, you know.
SPEAKER_02I mean, you didn't give me anything to work with here. But anyway, guys, this is I know this is. You said what? I'll explain it in a second. I'll let you know. All right. So, guys, today me and John are going to talk about something that I recently saw that I was supposed to see a few months back. And he saw it. I didn't get a chance to add a whole family emergency. And normally, if I don't get to see things the week of, I don't go see them. Even if I'm highly anticipating it and everything. So the movie in question is Obsession. Yes, it hit digital. I have not watched it on digital. I actually went and caught it on a Thursday morning before it left theaters. I'm not sure if it left theaters yet. But I had to get just because I had to just because I had to get the theater experience. That's the whole thing. And if you know me, the movie buff that I am, I I want to experience it the way it's supposed to be experienced. So I broke my own little golden rule and said, you know, I'm backtracking. I'm gonna go watch this movie. But uh, John, for those who haven't seen your TikTok, what did you give it on TikTok?
SPEAKER_03Oh, oh, I believe I gave it a 9.510. Okay. Oh, oh, real quick, guys, the joke was gonna be, has everybody seen the fucking meme of I'm watching you? He's like, I'm watching the, I was like, I'm watching this podcast, and then you know, I was expecting expecting you to, you know, be like, say something, and and then I was gonna be like, no, no, no, no, no, and it didn't work.
SPEAKER_02No, it didn't work. Yeah, you gotta give me a little bit more to work with it. But but yeah, guys, so today we're going over Obsession, by far the best horror movie I've seen of the year. John's seen a little bit more, more than I have, and yes, this is the week that the one and only Evil Dead is coming out. So this might come out before Evil Dead. This might come after Evil Dead. I don't know when this podcast will be released. I don't know. We've been just releasing podcasts frequently lately, just all over the place. Yeah, you've been getting them on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Hey, who knows? You just listen to a two-hour one-piece episode. If you're still here with us after that, I call you a dedicated fan. Ain't even gonna lie to you. Our first ever two episode two-hour episode. That's heavy right there. That's a little heavy.
SPEAKER_03It made sense that it had to be one piece.
SPEAKER_02It did. But uh, back to obsession. Give you guys a synopsis for those who haven't seen the movie. So essentially, this guy, Bear, uh, has a friend group of him, two girls, and another guy. And he ends up liking this girl named Nikki. He really likes her, and he he just doesn't have the guts to tell her how he feels. Nikki loses something close to her, and Bear goes to a store to replace what she lost and ends up buying said magic stick. What is it called, John? One wish willow. I live by the store, actually. All right, so he went to buy said gift. I don't want to give it away, but anyway, I'm trying to be very vague here, and he ends up buying the one wish willow. Thinking is it's a gag gift or whatever. And he wishes that she loves him more than anything else. And boy, does she? Right? Does she, John? Be careful what you wish for. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. This is this is one of those.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, guys, I'm not gonna lie to you. I'm so excited. I'm so glad Anthony finally saw this movie. You guys have no fucking idea. I was I was so excited for him to watch this, and now that he's seen it, he gets it. Because Anthony asked me, what was the other movie fighting for my favorite movie of the year? And before this, it was Project El Mary, and before The Furious, it was this, and we finally get to talk about one of probably the greatest breakout roles in cinema history. I mean, yeah, never ready.
SPEAKER_02I mean, yeah, it's a breakout role, but it wasn't her first role, as that's what that's where the confusion's coming in. Everybody thinks it's her first role, it's not, but but yeah, it is it's definitely a breakout role.
SPEAKER_01Definitely a breakout role.
SPEAKER_03I was so so blown away by the quality on display here. So you know this movie was made for under a million, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like and it's it's it and I think it I think it's like almost a million or so short of centers. It's I I'll check. I think it's yeah, it was like a like last time I checked was like a million or two short of centers.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, and this is I think a very firm contender for the best horror movie of the decade. And I just double checked, it's 370 million for centers, and obsession, I think, is like 40, 40 million behind.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Oh, it just cracked over 400 million worldwide.
SPEAKER_03403 million?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, over worldwide. Just cracked it, yeah.
SPEAKER_03You guys are curious what that means. That uh it was made for 750,000.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and he it wasn't even made, it wasn't even made for a million dollars.
SPEAKER_03I.
SPEAKER_02And then like to say this movie's a success is kind of a is underselling it. It's very underselling.
SPEAKER_03No, and and guys, I cannot express to you enough. If you have not had the opportunity to go see this. Definitely this is my public service announcement.
SPEAKER_02Go do it. Yeah, definitely worth it. If you can't catch it in theaters, it's hot on digital. Now, I highly I I highly recommend buying it if you're a collector, if you're a movie buff. I mean, if you just want to rent it for the night, it's worth 20 bucks. Or wait or wait till it goes down. But I mean, it's definitely worth a watch. It really is. It's definitely worth it.
SPEAKER_03I mean, he was like, I mean, okay, so we we talked a little about the production. I think it's only fair to start.
SPEAKER_02I mean, we ain't really talking about the production, we just talked how much it costs. I mean, yeah, I mean, but uh, I mean, the movie is beautiful though. I mean, I saw it in, I think it was 1.1 ratio. John saw it in full screen. I thought it was gonna be a little distracting being 1.1. It's actually, it's actually, it works. It works. Uh it was like I said, it was a very intimate movie. Beautifully shot. I love how they use the the uh shadows. I love how he puts just enough into the scene of certain scenes and stuff. I mean you can just barely like see her eyes and scene. Yeah. I mean, but like I said, I mean, horror movie of the decade is a bold claim. It's one of the best horror movies of decade. I mean, because you still got centers, you still got talk to me. I mean, I mean, 2020 is a stack of some horror movies, but it definitely top five, top three easy. I just gotta, I just gotta look at the contemporaries that it had that it's sitting in class with.
SPEAKER_03It's it's definitely a this is one where like Anthony knows. I'm willing. I'm a pretty stubborn individual. I don't like to admit what I'm wrong. But this is one of those times where I'm I'm I'm sticking to my guns, I'm sticking to my conviction. I like maybe, maybe on a rewatch of this and Centers back to back, I might change my opinion, but I also can't pretend like Sinners wasn't one of my favorite movies of last year.
SPEAKER_02Centers was your favorite movie of last year, sir. Yes, it was. It was okay, okay. So it's not, let's not even go there. So we both get.
SPEAKER_03I had Chainsaw Man over it, but that was different.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But nah, damn. Sinners was my number one movie last year. This is definitely my number two, three. Right now, Furious is at number one. I I'm still waiting on, I gotta see what Evil Dead Burns does this weekend. Which let's be fair. No one, Anthony. I don't know, bro. I'm being real. I don't, I can't, I'm not making, listen, I'm I'm going in, I got high expectations. I had two horror movies on my list coming into this year. And what were they?
SPEAKER_03Evil Dead Burns.
SPEAKER_01And what else? Scary movie. No, get real.
SPEAKER_02I was looking forward to scary movies. No, no, I had two actual horror movies on my list. Because no, I I had obsession because you forgot about obsession. Oh, you're right, you're right, you're right. I'm telling you, you forgot about obsession. You was like, shit, I forgot about that because you thought it came out in 2025, which it does have originally have a 2025 date, but it got released in 2026. Do you know they were gonna release this for free?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I know on YouTube. So, first off, let me clarify something, guys. The fact that this was made by a YouTuber, and it's the third movie this year alone, to be dropped by a YouTuber. Man, is me and Anthony may or may not have some interest in the film industry ourselves. I'm not gonna lie, to see this movie do as well as it did and be as well actualized and realized as it is, does make me pretty excited for us moving a little closer to the industry we're trying to get into.
SPEAKER_01Plus, I'm tripping.
SPEAKER_02Nah, I mean, dude, I mean, let's let's not scoff here, man. This has been a great year for YouTubers turn filmmakers. It's really had. I mean, I was not high on Dak rooms. I know you didn't see it. No, I've been, yeah, I have no interest in seeing it, honestly. I'm gonna be real with you. I'll watch it, but it's not one of those piqued my interest in watching.
SPEAKER_03And Iron Lung was not perfect, but the patching on display was kind of worth more than the price of admission.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Shelby Oaks, I've gotta watch. Let me be fair. I got I have not seen Shelby Oaks. That is the Chris Stuckman movie. But dude, this, I mean, by far the best of the four we have gotten. It is incredible, dude.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I'm being real. I'm being real. All right, so John knows. I take what John says about certain movies with a grain of salt. Because when it comes to certain movies, me and John have different takes on what makes a horror movie.
SPEAKER_03That like he doesn't agree with my definition of a horror movie.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no, no, no. Me and you have different classes of what a horror movie is supposed to do. Right? We can we both agree that a horror movie can do multiple things, correct? Yes. Okay, but a horror movie is supposed to incite some type of fear, anxiety, slash, somewhere in that wheelhouse to me. You feel what I'm saying? Supposed to. For somebody, even if it doesn't scare you personally, it's supposed to. You get what I'm saying? That's the intention of a horror movie. I believe. That's what I believe. All right. Now, saying that, I can see where sinners, I don't, even though people classify sinners as a horror movie, I personally don't see sinners as a horror movie, but it's classified as one. I don't see Sons of the Lambs as a horror movie, but it's classified as one. I'll take it. You know what I'm saying? Whatever. However you have it. All right. When John, I I was already high on this movie. I had high expectations. I'm gonna say that. When John told me he liked this movie, it was one of two things. I'm like, it's either really good or it's mid. Because sometimes John's on fire with horror movies. And then sometimes John likes a movie and I think it's very mid. Aliens. No. Mitsumar. The Mitsumar is very mid. And OG aliens. No, no, no. We didn't even touch on that. We're talking modern day horror. Mitsumar is mid, and what's the one I just watched that bored shit out of me and put me to sleep too? Oh, Hokum. Hokum is boring as shit. Not a 90% 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. Got a fucking 82% fan score. And it's boring as shit. It's mid as fuck. I'm being real with you. It's beautifully shot, well acted, whatever as you, but I was bored out of my motherfucking mind. I'm being real. I mean, like, hey, you guys liked it, I didn't, but it's mid as a motherfucker. It's mid like as a bitch. Like that bitch deserve a 50%.
SPEAKER_03You know what's crazy? So, one of my other buddies who I do my other podcasts with, Big Boys, Big Opinions. Y'all might know him as Lotus. Also saw this movie. Also saw Hokan. And and I quote, yeah, John, I'm not gonna lie. Fuck Adam Scott in that movie. That shit was mid. I won't reapproach that.
SPEAKER_02No, I have no agree. Listen, I'm gonna be real with you. This is how much this is how mid that movie is, Sean. I'd rather watch Midsommar before I watched out. Means he really didn't like it, guys. I really don't like that movie. That movie, I'll tell you what, though. I'll tell you what, the only thing that movie had over Midsommar, it wasn't, it didn't have a long, drawn out, drugged up rape scene. That's the only plus I can give it. So like, okay, so it was just it was just my biggest problem with Hokum, it's boring. It's boring. It's boring. Like, like, dude, when I tell you, I'm okay. Listen, and people like, dude, you don't enjoy slow burns. I love, I love the shiny. And people say what they want, but Exodus is a slow burn. The original Exodus is a very slow movie. Like, bro, I love slow, I'll watch a slow movie. This movie is just boring, bro. There's no fun at all to be had here. There's nothing to be, there's nothing to be scared of. Like, it's well acted. It is, I'll give you that, but there's nothing entertaining about this movie to me. It's meant as hell. I didn't care if the main antagonist, I mean the main protagonist lived or died. He care less. I'm being real with you. So I would put it lower. It would be my lowest rated. Fuck, I ain't even gonna lie to you. I probably have it below Scream 7. The only thing that saves it over Scream 7 is it's better acted than Scream 7. Screen 7 was at least a little bit entertaining.
SPEAKER_03Scream 7 might have actually been one of the few times I wanted to jam my head into a wall.
SPEAKER_02And I'm being real, dude, this movie put me to sleep twice. I tried to watch it, bruh. It was just boring. It is, it's boring. Like, dude, no, re-watch it. Take yourself, rewatch it. That's all I'm gonna say. Rewatch it just real quick, what, guys? Real quick before we get back on track here. Yeah, yeah, okay. We got sidetracked like a motherfucker.
SPEAKER_03But uh, but go ahead. Um, I think Hokum is well acted, it's distinct, it ties a little more into folklore horror. There's some unique stuff to it, and I think it also has a fun one location. It's inspired by the shining. Funnily enough, that he brought up the shining. If you're looking, it's also got a great performance. So you guys go watch it. Tell us below. Tell us what you think one is done.
SPEAKER_02Don't waste your fucking time. I'm gonna say, I'm gonna be real with you. Don't waste your fucking time. It's it's some hippity fucking dev doo-deye motherfucking shit. If you're a hipster, you'll love it. I'm being real with you. If you're a fucking hipster, you're a pretentious ass, fucking, artsy ass motherfucker, you'll love it. Real shit. It's boring as shit. It's boring. Long drawn out, fucking, no big payoff. It there's no there's no point of watching the fucking movie.
SPEAKER_03Don't worry, guys. I'll make sure I post this on uh TikTok. Y'all can vote. Let me know who wins. I mean, I'm not, I don't really give a damn. I'm being real with you. But anyway.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, back to back to the movie we're here to talk about. Debatably, yeah. Yeah, like I said, Centers is still alive. That's all I'm saying. But the movie's great. It's not better than Center's. I'm gonna say that. But to Center's credit, it had a bigger, bigger production. It had a bigger production. I will say that. Center's also got the advantage of it had a bigger cast, a bigger production. It had it probably arguably the fucking best young director in Hollywood, best young male leading actor in Hollywood. I'm just saying, I'm just saying, like, it had more with it than this. You know what I'm saying? This is by far, okay. This is paranormal activity and centers is silence of the lambs. You get what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So, but what what I'm saying is that that's not a knock against this movie, and the feat that this movie is accomplished is great. It's well acted. Like, oh girl, as Nikki fucking kills it. Like uh, Indy Navaretti. Yeah, we why are we even butchering her fucking name? Like, dude, she is fucking, she's great in it. The dude who plays Bear is good. The fucking uh the side cat. Let's it's like honestly, guys, this movie probably, if you count the four main characters, there's probably a total of 20 people in this movie. Maybe if you count the cat, like Yeah, we we'll get into that later because we definitely gotta delve into spoilers. But but no, man.
SPEAKER_03But go ahead, go ahead. I didn't cut you off.
SPEAKER_02Nah, but like, dude, it's well acted. I don't think there was a bad. I don't think there was a bad act portrayal here. I think everybody had their assignment, they understood it, and they knocked it out the part.
SPEAKER_03I and and like it goes, like you said, like kind of across the board. You know, everybody doing their part. Everybody is is acting well, everybody is is giving a good performance, yeah, everybody, and like you said, understanding the assignment, it it really like blew me off guard. So if you guys don't know the backstory here, just footnotes version. Curry Barker was a YouTuber who turned filmmaker, dropped out of film school, and then him and his friend Cooper, who also plays Ian in this movie, basically, you know, we're like, hey, we're gonna make a couple things on YouTube, got some traction. As a sketch comic, and then they decided to drop something called Milk and Cereal, did really well, and they filmed this, got a contract for obsession here, and we're going to drop this free online on obsess like on YouTube before deciding to say, you know, uh Fudge McKit and got one of the longest theater runs in history.
SPEAKER_02And dude, this is just Yeah, because we're in July and it's still in theaters, and it came out in May. It dropped May 15th. It dropped mid-May, mid-May 15th.
SPEAKER_03Oh, wow. Okay, yeah. So the movie's been in theaters almost two months or coming up on two months.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And to do that as a YouTuber-led movie, you know, is not only impressive, but like truthfully, truthfully, cannot wait to see what this guy's got next.
SPEAKER_02I mean, Texas Chainsaw Maskers next. They gave him the Texas Chainsaw Maskers next. So I can't wait. One of my favorite franchises, I can't wait to see what happens. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Well, yeah, like super excited with that. It's also, you were talking about everybody understanding their assignment. They're not a good person in this movie, except like Nikki and um I mean, I mean, honestly. What was the old girl's name?
SPEAKER_02You're talking about Sarah?
SPEAKER_03Sarah, yeah, there we go. Nikki at Sarah. Nikki at Sarah.
SPEAKER_02I mean, honestly, and be real, and I got a theory. That's what it's one of them theories that I want to talk about. But but it will touch on that in a minute. I can't say there's a good person in this fucking movie, bro. I don't think there's one good person in this movie.
SPEAKER_03That's fair. I mean, like, I'm a mad man.
SPEAKER_02So let's talk about some other stuff and I'm gonna tell you why later. But yeah, man, I'll tell you something. I love this movie. That I love that this movie does. It does a lot of foreshadowing. And subtle foreshadowing. I love a movie that does foreshadowing that that isn't so like, oh, this is this matters, you know what's in the long run. You know what I mean? I love a movie that shows you something and then like it makes you realize it at the end. Like, oh shit, that you know what I'm saying ties back to, you know what I mean? I love a good, I love a good foreshadowing moment.
SPEAKER_03It plays its cards close to its chest and it knows that it's good at it, which is something that that I appreciate. And not that like this movie is this is one of those like rare movies where there's not a whole lot of problems with it. Like you really have to like, and we might get into problems here in the spoiler section without when we're yeah, yeah, no, no.
SPEAKER_02We ain't wanna touch we ain't wanna damn you know overcomplicate everything, but but nah, man. It it's a tightly woven, it's a tightly woven movie, tightly woven narrative. It doesn't I love a movie that understands what it is and doesn't try to be multiple things. It and and what that's why I say, like, man, this movie's in good company, man, because you got sinners, you got fish, you got, you got fucking Evil Dead Rise. Well, I mean, is Evil Dead Rise a 2020 movie? I can't remember.
SPEAKER_03Let me double check. It might be.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that's burn, which is also gonna be. You got taught to me, dude. You got you, man, dude. Do you realize the fucking company? I believe smile too, like yes, smile and smile too. Like, dude, like the damn the company that this, I'm telling you, dude, of the decade, bro, like, shit.
SPEAKER_03Like, obviously, like this, this is a into like let us preface this, guys. Like, you you know, barbarian, x, pearl, nope, megan, blackphone, you smile, tatanya, listen. Listen, I mean, I don't know. And you stand out next to your contemporaries above the pack in one of the best decades for horror in a very long time. And no, that's not coming from anyone, that's coming from two dudes who are horror movie fans. Like me and Anthony have two genres horror, and Anthony wants our other genre.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I got more than two genres, but go ahead, John. Oh, you talk about actions.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. I mean those those the two genres we're pretty we we've got a decent amount of ubiquity on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that we can agree on for the most part, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03This is, I mean, definitely amongst my all-time favorites. But I don't know if I'm even like I'm just so blown away at what they were able to accomplish with what tools they had at their disposal, and and then made it work so well.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, I dude, there's a there's a lot here, man. I ain't gonna lie, dude. Like this this was been stuff to chew on. I was gonna say, like, honestly, probably the best decade for I don't know, man, because the 2000s had every run, man, every year has its run, dude. I think don't don't forget the 70s and 80s. I mean, I'm saying, I'm going back, I was gonna say since the 90s, but I'm saying, like, but the 2000s and the 2010s have their hits. I was gonna say this is probably the best decade since the 90s, but the 2010s and the 2000s have their hits. They have their hits, dude. They have they have their hits, dude. Like, it's I I can't I don't know, man. Like I said, they'll it's hard. Be real with you.
SPEAKER_03Like, it is and I mean, dude, uh well, at the end of this year, when when 26, I mean 2026 ends, well, we might do a best of the decade so far. For uh I don't know if we agree on a lot of things.
SPEAKER_02This is gonna be possible. I don't know if we agree on a lot, though.
SPEAKER_03No, that's gonna need to be two very those are gonna be two very different lists.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they gotta be, because I mean you you like a couple movies, I don't really care if it works up.
SPEAKER_03No, no, I mean that's the fun part of our little podcast.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, that's what I said. So yeah. But but nah, man, damn there's like I said, man, it it's just been a strong decade. But anyway, back to obsession, man. We keep getting sidetracked. But that's what this movie does. It opens up the conversation ab. Like, where do you place it? Where do you place this movie, man? And it it's one of those. Like, I recommend it, I thought Talk to Me. And and Talk to Me is another one. Like, bruh, talk to me is another one. Like, man, it's it's it's one of those ones that opened up that conversation. Like, this is one that people need to see.
SPEAKER_03Like, I I didn't go see Leviticus. I heard it was very good. I skipped it. But like, just and like, you know, like you said, opening this conversation, right? We're we're obviously on this topic. We might as well build on it. Just this year, you have Sin Hell, 28 years later, Bone Temple. You have Hokum, which you don't like, you have Backrooms, which you haven't seen. Like, We Bury the Dead, Primate, What Do You're Not To, uh Fucking Faces of Death, They Will Kill You.
SPEAKER_02You know, let's talk about so I'm gonna give you some movies from the 2020s, right? Here's just here's just some of the contemporaries. You got the Invisible Man, which is fire. If you haven't seen it, the remake is the first one. Yeah, the remake is fire. Talk to me, Late Night with the Devil, Obsession, Obsession, Barbarian, Substance, Weapons, together, Godzilla Minus One. I don't know if I would consider that a horror movie, but some people do. Nasferatu, Sinners, like, dude, that's just some of the best horror movies there's been in this decade.
SPEAKER_03Like, it's this is a and we and neither of us have seen everything, right? And like we have the humility to admit that.
SPEAKER_02Dog. Oh, long legs. Can't forget about can't forget about long legs. Long legs is fucking good.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, long legs was good. What was the uh fucking the one you liked that I didn't? Oh, uh Bring Her Back. I like Bring Her Back. Yeah, I didn't care for Bring Her Back, but we got weapons.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It like the the It Welcome to Dairy, the TV show.
SPEAKER_02That was a TV show, though, yeah. But you can't forget Black Pong. Black Pong was another one.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Black. I mean, you didn't like this, but I thought X Pearl and Maxine was a great trilogy. I mean, like, this is a stacked decade, man.
SPEAKER_02Like, and then look, we still got and we still have like Evil Dead Burns, you know what I'm saying? This coming out this year.
SPEAKER_01We got the Ice Cream Man. Forget about the Ice Cream Man.
SPEAKER_00I forgot about that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we got Ice Cream Man that's coming out this year. I mean, like, dude, we got I mean, we gotta stack them.
SPEAKER_01We gotta stack them horror movies that's coming out this year.
SPEAKER_03It is like blown me away of what this decade has. Oh no, you went out, you went out, what'd you say? Uh like it has blown me away what this decade has been capable of, what this decade has accomplished. And and on top of it all it like to then like I it kind of won up itself. It's it's so good. It it's so effective, and and we've barely really even, you know, like gotten into what makes this movie so good, what makes this movie so effective, what makes this movie so scary. Because this this decade has just brought stuff to measure such a high standard against. And I love that I can say that for a genre that gets treated like the little brother.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So, okay, is what we got coming so far. Late this summer, we got Evil Dead Burn, we got Pinocchio Unstring, Ice Cream Man coming in August, we got Insidious Out of the Further, Resident Evil, forgot about Zach Krager's Resident Evil coming in September, even though we both don't want to hear about this. Terrifier 4 coming out in October. Yeah, guys, we don't like Terrifier. Clayface. Forgot about Clayface, which is considered a horror movie. It's a body horror movie, and Werewolf in December. I'm very excited for Werewolf. Yeah. So, like, we still got, I mean, like, we still got some good horror movies coming out of our way, man.
SPEAKER_03Like, I am again more than excited for like what this could be, what this is gonna be. And as a decade of horror and and a decade of movies, I I I think I I guess we could go ahead and pivot if we wanted to. Like, what do you think makes this stand out above the crowd?
SPEAKER_02I don't know, bro. I must say, so it's about obsession, right? Yeah. I mean, I think, okay, so let's take away. All right. Let's take away, before we get into spoilers or whatever, because I think this the only way we'll be able to talk about the things in this movie is to spoil them. Because this is one of those movies, like, can't talk about that, can't talk about because we got to spoil the relatability of dating somebody that is too clingy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know what I'm saying? I mean, and I'm pretty sure that's something that everybody can relate to.
SPEAKER_03To some fucking degree.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, to some degree. You know what I'm saying? But hopefully not to this degree. You know what I'm saying? That that's a little extreme. So, but yeah, the relatability of that and how real certain things get, and jealousy plays in the relationship, and in the whole be careful what you wish for. You know what I'm saying? I seen a meme where I seen a meme where it it was a meme, it was a TikTok where the guy just got through finish watching Obsession and it was Genie and a lad, and he was like, You see how worse this could have been for you? He's like, Yeah, shit could have been way worse. You know what I mean? So, like, yeah, you and the whole thing is just be careful what you wish for, and you're not supposed to wish for somebody to be in love with you. Because shit could get weird fast, and it got weird fast. Like, that's what they got. I will say.
SPEAKER_03Like, and then you know, like to go down the the the other part. Ooh. The walk backwards scene, dude. Yes, the walk backwards scene really made me. And honestly, the whole third act, which I won't spoil, but yeah, the whole third act is wow, wow third act. Like this movie has some great kills, right? Yeah. Even though there's not a ton, right?
SPEAKER_02I think they're what two. That's it, right? I mean, if you don't count what happened, you know what's it?
SPEAKER_01Just the two. There's three. Three. There's two. Three. At the very end. Uh but you don't see nothing though. No, no, there's you see.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, but all right. So, so hold on. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. All right. I'm okay. Brick. I'm gonna say brick, right?
SPEAKER_01Door.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Bathroom. Yeah, but I mean, that's not really, you know what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_00I I know like it is.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but I mean, uh, you know what I'm saying, eh we could get into some real semantics, but uh, yeah. So, but yeah, I mean, like, you and me were talking about this off the cuff of how the entity in this movie is is so is tied in like such a layer of mystique uh and has this very fun, very unique interaction that you can't really see anywhere else. And and I appreciate I mean so there was a you you can.
SPEAKER_02I and I'm gonna tell you where you can see it in. And even the actress go ahead.
SPEAKER_03Not trying to say that scene, yeah. Yeah, I think I don't saw you scene you're talking about. I was trying to avoid that part.
SPEAKER_02No, but go ahead.
SPEAKER_03I was just gonna say, like, there was a complaint that I heard from one of Anthony's favorite reviewers, Jeremy Johns, that he felt it was underexplained, and I disagree. I think one of my favorite parts is they don't give it a ton of focus.
SPEAKER_02Like they don't Yeah, you don't need to. I mean, I feel like this is one of those movies that you don't need the less is more works here. Because you know is the is about as much as the main protagonist does. You know is about much as much information as you they have, you have. And that's all the information you need. Why would you need more? Because still fact is simple and plain, it's cut and dry. It doesn't need to be more complicated than it is. Any more complicated, it makes it messy.
SPEAKER_03And I appreciate that it isn't overly complicated, like they do genuinely go out of their way to keep things very vague and the ambiguity around it. And yeah, like it's a good example, too, of work with what you've got because these guys only had like and me and Anthony have talked about this on the podcast before. That like these guys only had a $750,000 budget.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03On a movie, that ain't shit, guys. I I hate to tell you.
SPEAKER_02Uh I mean that you could tell by the you could tell by they chose to shoot it in what? Let me see. You had like four locations. Four locations, maybe, because you had the shop, his house, the house, the the job, the diner, and old buddy's house, and then the two cars.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like that, okay. So what was that? Seven? Like seven locations. Yeah, like it's it is just not enough. Like, or I mean, I'm not gonna say it's not enough, but I appreciate they don't, you know, give it an excess, and they don't they don't make this like ridiculous amount. It doesn't need it.
SPEAKER_02It doesn't need complicated lore. It doesn't need complicated lore. It just it is what it is, bro. That's that's that's that's one thing that I love about this movie. It is what it is. It doesn't need, well, you gotta do this to defeat this, right? No, bro. It dude made a wish, light switch flipped, not the same person. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, not made a decision he shouldn't have done. Yeah, and it doesn't need to be more complicated than it is, and and the fact that it's that simple, it works. And see, that's the problem with the and I'll say it again, these pretentious ass fucking filmmakers. They make shit more complicated than what it got to be. It don't gotta be that complicated. You can make you can tell a simple fucking story. A simple story with a simple message, with great execution, kills. It fucking kills every time.
SPEAKER_03And doesn't need to like, and I mean, again, this is a good lessons more like I like that this movie isn't trying to be more than what it is. I like this movie isn't trying to be overly complex. I like it's it's like you said, it is it is yo, dude made a mistake he shouldn't have made. There it is. There's no fixing it, right? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And and even from something as simple as Curry Vars or To be real, you don't know a difference. Honestly, you don't know a difference until two times. Until, all right, so slight situation. So there's a there's two situations where you find a difference between character A. I'm gonna we go we're talking about the girl. Character A and character B. Two personalities. Okay, one person. Yeah. Well I'm saying is character A, character B. I'm talking about personality-wise in her. Okay, okay, yeah. Post-wish. Character A, character B. When I say that, character A is original Nikki, character B is Nikki post-wish. You don't really know it, you don't know a difference until a phone call is made and a conversation is had during an unconscious moment. That's all I'm gonna say. That's when you realize, oh shit, it ain't really what we think. You know what I'm saying? You know what I mean? Like, that's when you realize, oh, there's something else at play here. That's that's you know what I'm saying? That's when you realize, oh shit, it's deeper than what we think it is. You know what I mean? So, and we'll touch on that in spoilers. I I want to give the people who aren't gonna stay around for spoilers what we're talking about. But um, but yeah, man.
SPEAKER_03And I'm gonna say the I'm I'm assuming the other scene you're talking about is let's call it the lunch scene. The what scene?
SPEAKER_02The lunch scene. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. The meetup scene, right before the meetup.
unknownUp.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay. That's scene. Guys, we're trying to be very good.
SPEAKER_02We're sorry. We were never together.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that one. Okay, that one. That one. That one. I know what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so those two scenes confirm that, okay, character A and character B are not one of the same. Yeah, exactly. So, but yeah, I mean, like, dude, I love, and all the explanation you need is right there.
SPEAKER_03And not only is it subtle, right? Not only is it subtle, not only is it understated, but it's uncomfortable. In this whole thing, I'm gonna tell you.
SPEAKER_02So it means I'm sorry, go ahead, go ahead. Finish saying what you said. I'm sorry, I mean to cut you off, but I'm gonna tell you something.
SPEAKER_03I was just gonna say, so Anthony has made it pretty clear to me he does not like obsession. Obsession makes or not obsession. He does not like Mitsumar because it makes him uncomfortable.
SPEAKER_02He's like, No, no, no, it no, no, no, no, no. You you you drop it home. I don't like Midsommar because all right, so one, Mitsomar is a beautiful movie. What did I give it, John? What did what did I what did I give the movie as a rating? I can't remember.
SPEAKER_03Uh I think I think you gave it like a four.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like a four, four and a half. Because I feel like it's more style than substance. That's why I don't like Mitsumar. Mitsumar does have a long drawn out, and that's an understatement. Long drawn out fucking drug up sex scene with an adult man and a just turned fucking girl. Very young, might I add. That is what made me uncomfortable. And and and I get it's supposed to be uncomfortable, but I just mean like it, and then when you got like like 15 half-necked, generic ass older women in there, uh that shit, it's it's like okay, this uh, this shit could have been shorter. Had it been shorter, I would have gave it like a 5.5 problem.
SPEAKER_03Okay, all right. I alright, but but like you said before, like I said, the the movie just doesn't resonate with you. Yeah, uh, because of stuff like that. What I'm saying is this movie does that, right? It's so uncomfortable. And every scene runs on just a little too long.
SPEAKER_02Okay, but to confirm that I'm not exaggerating, I'm gonna let John. John, how long do you think the sex scene is in Midsummer? As a fan of this movie, I think it's like six or seven minutes. It's pretty long. It's about four minutes long, John. Damn. That's a real sex session for some people. I'm just saying. That's a good quickie.
SPEAKER_01That movie isn't designed to be uncomfortable. Yeah, like dude, like it it's crazy.
SPEAKER_03I I I I I get it, I understand. I would I was using that as an example.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I'm just saying, like like guys, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but like what I was saying is like this the the way Anthony described Midsummer to me was the way I walked out of this movie, and I am like, this is so unreal. Like, how genuinely just ugh I feel at every moment it goes on for so long, like every scene goes on for such an unbelievably long amount of time, and makes you so uncomfortable, and every shot is just like, why are you doing this? And and Indy Navaretti is giving this weird, off-tilter, genuinely, again, like back to that uncomfortable thing. Like, but like, uh, you know, okay, guys, like uh kind of tie this thought up. There's this scene, without spoiling too much, after a party where like our main character, Bear, the main villain of the movie, comes home and he's like, he's getting up from the table after this really uncomfortable situation, and Nikki goes, he's going, I'm going to the bathroom. And Nikki goes, can I stand outside the door? And you're like, what the fuck did you just say?
SPEAKER_02Hey, to be real, there's some people with relationships like that though.
SPEAKER_03No, 100%. But I'm like, the fact that it goes there and it makes you that uncomfortable in such an effective light is what I have to give this movie credit for. But I but I'll slide it to you, Anthony. If you're ready to go into spoilers, I'm ready to go into spoilers.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think it's about that time. We're gonna touch on so, guys, if you want to know what John, we're gonna give you our scores and then we're going to spoilers. John, what do you give this movie? Obviously, we know what you give it, but give us go ahead, humorous.
SPEAKER_039.5.
SPEAKER_019.5? Okay. Nah, it's a 10.
SPEAKER_03It's 10. I'm serious. Uh like I have nothing to complain about.
SPEAKER_01I give it a solid nine.
SPEAKER_03Well, we'll we'll get into issues and why it's a little bit lower for him.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I mean, like I said, I don't think it's a 10. I mean, like, I think it's a it's a solid nine. It's a great movie. I mean, it's not a 10. Yeah, it's not a it's not a 10. It's it's a good movie. I think I really think it's a solid nine. I think, I mean, I can't give it a 10, though. I don't think we're here now, though. Okay, but I'm just saying, I don't think if if I had to say this movie could, and and like I said, this movie's only limit the only thing that hurts this movie is the budget. The limitations of the budget. Because I know what a bigger budget this would be about. Like, this is not a bad movie. It's a great movie. But just with a little bit more, um, this would have been like, you know what I'm saying? It'd have been like one of those great movies. You know what I'm saying? Like, what this is gonna be a classic regardless. You get what I'm saying? Yeah, but this is like with a little extra ump, you know. Yes, it this would be a 10, yes. This would be a 10. But like, I just feel like it's a solid nine. This that's not a bad thing to say. It's a solid nine.
SPEAKER_03I get bro, look, I'm not mad at you. I don't think that's crazy. I'm I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but I mean, I don't think, okay, so I don't think this movie is uh to say it's a 10, I I don't think it's up there with centers. I don't think it's up there, it didn't scratch that itch for me right there with it in scratch that itch right there with uh centers. It didn't scratch that itch right there with the furious. I mean, it may might have for you, you know what I'm saying, but not for me.
SPEAKER_03No, no, 100%. I get it. That part of the joy here is that me and Anthony can agree on things, guys, and disagree on things, and I don't think he's dumb for it. I think his opinion is valid as his opinion.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but like I said, I mean, I think it's a solid nine. I give it like when I do my review for it, it'll get a nine and it'll get five flames. Like, if you had a chance to see this in theaters, you should go see it in theaters. If you have a chance to buy this movie, you should buy it. If you have a chance to watch the movie, you should watch it. Maybe off on a re rewatch, I might change it. Like, to be real, listen, we're talking about a guy, and I know we talk my favorite video game is what? Red Dead Redemption. Okay. One.
unknownAll right.
SPEAKER_03Plus one, which makes it.
SPEAKER_02So I, if you ask me today, what is Red Dead 1? I would say it's a 10 out of 10. All right. If you asked me the first week I played Red Dead 2, right? If you asked me, I I would have told you it's like a 9, 9.5. I told you centers was a 9. I didn't call centers a 10 until we wrapped it up. No, no.
SPEAKER_03That was that was a later down-the-line thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, exactly. I didn't call centers a 10 until like, all right, yeah, it's a 10. It's a solid 10, especially after a rewatch. I'm not giving it a 10 until I rewatch it.
SPEAKER_03No, me and Anthony have talked about this. Rewatch is a big thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So yeah, I mean, I I'm I'm a firm believer in like, yeah, I mean, because you'll see a lot. Something a rewatch will expose a movie. Just like we look, we were high on weapons, and we're still high on weapons. Weapons was a solid. It does. It does. It does bring it down a little. So like I'm I'm very I I have high hopes that this will be a nine, uh, hopefully a 9.5 for me on a rewatch. But we're gonna see. When I because I'm buying the movie and I'm gonna rewatch the movie, and and and we're gonna see. Sinners, after a rewatch, went to a 10. Because I called John, like, yeah, man, this was a solid 10. Because Sinners got me and John back into the movie. Yeah, into the theaters. I don't think if me and you went and watched Obsession, it would make me and you go back to the movies. Not that it would stop us from going to the movies, obviously not, but the way centers was shot, the way centers was acted. Centers was candy, very special. Like in but centers was candy for the eyes. You get what I'm saying? No, 100%, yeah. Yeah, and and that and that's why I said, like, this movie is only limited. And if listen, if the only gripe I can give you is that your movie was only limited by your budget, that says something.
SPEAKER_03And even then, it's still like moving.
SPEAKER_02You were stifled by your limitations and you exceeded your limitations. I'm not saying you don't deserve a 10. I'm just saying, upon a rewatch, I will give you, I will give you my final score. When we sit here in December and we rate our top movies, which this will be part of my top movies. The only reason. And people, and then people like, well, you gave The Furious a 10 out of theaters. Bro, you don't realize what The Furious did. What The Furious did for me is probably what this movie did for John. And you do have those movies that do that for you. This movie didn't do that for me. This movie, when I left The Furious, I was excited. I was ecstatic. I who did I call, John, at 10 something at night? Me. And told you, you gotta get your ass to the movies. When this shit released, you need to go to the ass movie. I've only done that two or three times. Sinners, Furious, and maybe one other movie.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And Andy almost exploded and was about to rage, rage on me with Demon Slayer.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, dude. But I'm talking about movies, though. We're talking strictly movies. Man, listen. And not saying there's nothing special about this. That's not, but like I can tell the influences. This, okay. This movie and what this movie in Furious has in common, they pay homage to a lot of movies that came before it. And the monkey paw, fuck it, hell, this movie paid so much homage. The actress, she paid so much homage to get out, it's crazy. Like, like, all right, fuck it, guys. This I'm gonna so you got our rating. We're about to touch spoilers for the last little bit. If you or if you're leaving here, if you're leaving now, we appreciate you guys joining us. I can't hold it anymore because we gotta talk about this movie, okay? We can only dance around this thing for a while, all right. So, John, give them a count, give them a three count so they can get out of here. Three, two, one and a half, one. All right, spoilers are now engaged. Listen, guys. So when that bitch's face got smacked into a fucking shit. Hold on, hold up, hold on, hold on, hold up, hold up, hold up. But I'm in the middle of something. So her whole portrayal, especially that fucking dining scene where she's like the note, that's strict, that's straight out of get out. That's straight out of get out. And not in a bad way. And even the actress said she she that was her interpretation of that.
SPEAKER_03No, I mean, like, yeah, nothing that's not. Not in a bad way.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But yeah, dude, but the whole brick scene, dude, I'm gonna tell you, that scene made me jump. And I knew it was coming. I knew it was fucking coming. And I'm like, I know it's coming. I'm like, where is she? Where is she? And like I'm expecting it earlier, and it comes out nowhere and made me jump.
SPEAKER_03Like, and it takes its time, it's methodical, and it's for context, guys. You guys are obviously here, so you're in spoilers, you know what we're talking about. We're talking about when Bear and Sarah go to meet up after the party.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Hold on. Let me make sure that's her name. Because uh, we're gonna call this my.
SPEAKER_03No, no, no, it's definitely Sarah.
SPEAKER_02Sarah's yeah, it's Sarah. So, so yeah, okay. All right, dude, the fucking piss and shit and throw up when she when she's standing there when he goes to fucking work. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03So I told Anthony going into this movie. I I told him. I was like, Anthony, this movie made me gag. And he was like, and he didn't believe me. Yeah, I was like, Anthony, I have not walked out of a movie physically, physically uncomfortable in a very long time. Yeah, this movie made me gag at three separate points.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I know you gagged at this at the cat sandwich.
SPEAKER_03I know you gagged at the cat sandwich. I say bro, the cat sandwich. All right, so it's a man who has cats.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. That I was like, uh, hey bro, she made that man the shit, the piss shit in the vomit. Yeah, especially because like I didn't expect He was dude, he was tearing that sandwich the fuck up.
SPEAKER_03Bro, he was tearing that sandwich the fuck up. He was tearing it, bro. She picks up, she picks up the figure and she's like, Cat, what's the verdict? And then she's like, What's that mean? And he's like, What?
SPEAKER_02Mid-bite, mid-fucking bite, bro, chewing away. And then, bro, the texture, I don't know what the fuck they use for the texture. Had to be like some real heads, had to be like some Stub. Yeah, it looked, oh my god. I can't wait to see this movie, bro. We got, I'd tell you, I cannot wait to see this movie. Yeah, we're gonna be watching the Unrated Cup pretty soon, guys.
SPEAKER_03The director's cut in.
SPEAKER_02I'm so excited. Dude, the fucking nah, but I'm gonna tell you the best reveal in the whole movie. Best reveal in the whole movie is when he's getting ready, you give her a kiss, he turns around, and she's like, if you want to stay home, you go, and it shows you the door that he's already been looking at. Bruh, come the fuck off.
SPEAKER_03And it's just taped up, bro. And then, like, you know, before we talk about that, like, then she does this uncomfortable, weirdly elongated, nasty fucking smile.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then she stands at the She doesn't even look like the fucking same person. She doesn't look like the same person. Yeah, like does she look almost Medicin-ish? Yeah, but but yeah.
SPEAKER_03And then and then, like, she stands at the door, and you hear peeing trickle.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And she just pisses herself. Yeah. Right? And you're just like, what the fuck is this? Yeah. Like, no, and he opens the door.
SPEAKER_02And she's a fucking miss porn, sweat, piss, piss, shit, uh everywhere.
SPEAKER_03Is something wrong? And then she's like, No, I was just waiting for you.
SPEAKER_01Like, what the fuck? Like, oh my god.
SPEAKER_03And then she's like, I'm gonna go shower right now. She goes to the shower, right, guys? Bro, and go ahead, tell him, Anthony. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_02This dude's gonna have the nerve to say that Ian wants to have a boy's night out. Why the fuck would you say some shit like that? Bro, that damn, I've never heard a shower cut off so hard. Like, what the fuck, dude? It made me so uncomfortable. Dude, question though. How the fuck did Sarah tell her that damn that she was gonna be there? If she stood there, I don't know, bro. This shit's crazy. All right, so alright, I have a theory. All right, here's my theory. We're gonna get into it. And I seen this theory, shout out my boy Christone the Great, and it makes nothing but total sense. Everybody's the villain. Everybody's the villain. Everybody's just the villain. Because all right. Nikki liked Bear. And Bear was just too pussy to tell Nikki that he liked her. Right? Because any girl that likes you, if we're friends and she don't like you, she don't want you to like her. And she wouldn't ask you, do you she like do you like her? She would dead that shit before there was anything in the water, right? Okay? She literally asked him, she said, Bear, if you like me, tell me now is the time to tell me. This nigga, pussy's out, don't say shit, correct?
SPEAKER_03And and honestly, bro, I'm not gonna lie to you. It's almost infuriating when he does it. Like, it's I'm not, I mean, I don't know why it's an almost.
SPEAKER_02It's so infuriating when he does it. Most, most infuriating fucking protagonist I've ever seen. Outside of the nigga from Hokel. All right. So, yeah, damn. But yeah, then, alright. Bear, Bear is a piece of shit. We know this. All right, we know this. I'm sorry. He's a scary little piece of shit. Nikki, so let's talk about the biggest piece of shit in the room, Ian. All right. Ian. Ian gives not only the worst fucking advice to this man, right? Worst advice ever.
SPEAKER_03That's not your homie advice I've ever seen, by the way.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the worst advice. He's like, you know she doesn't like that. Yeah, but you need to be mean to her. Yeah, bro. Cop blocking this man off the way, right? Now, mind you, we never like, bro, it's insinuated that Ian is sleeping around with Nikki. We never get any confirmation about this. Why do we why is it confirmed? Because Ian said so, and it came from Sarah? Come on, bro. Sarah likes who? Sarah likes Bear. Okay, so because Sarah like obviously likes Bear. Okay. All right. Okay. And why the fuck do we believe anything that comes out of fucking Ian's mouth? And secondly, how the fuck do we really know that Nikki told Sarah that damn she saw Ian saw Bear as a little brother?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that was I that was something I'd always kind of considered. But the only point that you can really make for that is because so there's this scene at that there when they're at the party, right? Yeah. And she's like, I'm gonna skin off your forearm, roll up the meat, and put it inside me, my handful, as I am your gretel. Like She's talking about like seeing him as a brother, right? Yeah. And I'm like, dude, first off, disgusting.
SPEAKER_02Secondly, yeah, that poem was unsettled.
SPEAKER_03That poem, bro. Okay. That scene is like, Bear, look at this, bro. Like, this is your fault. Now, look, I am not, I am not removing any responsibility for what Bear did to this woman. I am not doing that. But if I'm in this situation, right, and I'm with this girl, and she does that, the fuck do you want me to do? Because they're like, Bear, look, this is your fault.
SPEAKER_02Look at what ain't even looking. So, questions. I'm asking two things. Let me ask you two things. Which part which party scene is worse? Obsessions party scene or talk to me party scene. I don't know, man. That's a good one. Dude, Nikki, Nikki scene's rough, but bro, the talk to me scene where old buddy was smacking his face against the fucking bro. I I it's the same, it's the same vibe. It's the same fucking vibe, bro.
SPEAKER_03It's also not helped at all by the fact that like this one has this awful, terrible, like sense of dread. Yeah. And they again, bro. And the piece of shit. Because he should have just straight up told Bear.
SPEAKER_02If they were sleeping around, he should have said so. If that's really your friend. Hear me out. That's like, all right, hypothetically here. Me and John hang out, right? Okay. We got a friend group, me, John, and two girls. Okay. And I know John likes this girl. If this is how I know Ian's not sleeping with her. Because if I'm sleeping with her and John is really my boy and I know how John feels about her, why the fuck am I going to set my boy up for failure?
SPEAKER_03Like, and then to go the extra mile, right, guys? First off, some life advice, if someone's really your friend, they'll be honest with you and they'll like they'll hold you accountable, right? And like if me and Anthony are in this hypothetical situation, right? First off, he's not my fucking friend if he doesn't tell me. Yeah. But then two, Sarah's in the bear. Mm-hmm. And he's not like, look, bro, this is the situation. I'm with fucking Nikki.
SPEAKER_02Or me and Nikki got a situation. Me and Nikki got a situation. Because they ain't together. But if it's really like he says it is, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, there's there's some there's some potential, there's something there, but not 100%, right?
SPEAKER_02And I'm gonna tell you, and I'm gonna tell you something like this. This is how you know. This is how you I'm gonna give you another, this is how you know Ian wasn't sleeping with her. When they first came back in from the party, right? What's the first thing he asked? Man, you you slept with Nikki? Oh my god, you know what I'm saying? This how was it, bro? He he ain't sleep with Nikki, bro.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's that's a fair, that's a fair point.
SPEAKER_02He ain't sleep with Nikki, bro. He was jealous.
SPEAKER_03He was he wanted to get with Nikki, bro. And then well, then you got the other thing, then you got the other thing, right? Of the way this movie, right, moves into the third act, with like after the brick, and we watch this girl's face get uh consumed by a brick, which by the way, they've confirmed the director's cut, and just a little heads up for you, Anthony. She wasn't supposed to die in that scene. Really? She was supposed to live. She was supposed to be like, but you could hear her gasping for air and like gargling on the blood. Damn. They were they it was gonna go like another 30 seconds before she died.
SPEAKER_01Damn. Yeah, I gotta get this direct.
SPEAKER_03So they take her body, right, to her dad's music shop.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, make that makes sense. For what reason? In a fucking drum bag. But I think what so what was the fucking purpose in not just taking because I don't know, man. But anyway, we ain't giving it too much away. We ain't giving it too much away. We ain't giving it too much away. My thing, but then what my thing is, this is my thing, right? The number one thing that creeped me out, right? Go back to sleep. Go back to sleep.
SPEAKER_03What? Oh, oh my god. Dude, okay. Go back to sleep. All right, Anthony, I do I do want to ask, but finish what you're saying, but I'll ask you after I'm done. You're just gonna say, go back to sleep.
SPEAKER_02What? I just want to watch you sleep. What? Bro, I don't like it when I sleep. Bro, that whole fucking creep, oh my god, bro. That shit.
SPEAKER_03What the fuck, bitch, like you do.
SPEAKER_02What are you talking about? Yeah, bro. And I'll tell you another, because you you mentioned uh uneasy, right? So, dude, the most uncomfortable scene, and you knew she was nobody was home, was the one sex scene that is in there when she's looking in the mirror and it's all dead man.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's not the one I was gonna pull, but okay. Well, go ahead, what you pull it.
SPEAKER_03All right, the third act of this movie blew me away after the brick, after the reveal, okay, he goes to his friend's house, and bear uh being a selfish dog water piece of shit that he is. Is it just like, bro, for starters? I don't understand why Bear didn't show Ian that I can't break this little fucking stick. Like, please, bro. This is not made up, this is not magic. Like, this is I need you to say I wish Bear never made a wish and it all goes back to normal and everything's okay. Then he's like, Yeah, I wish for a billion dollars.
SPEAKER_02That shit is fucking crazy. That shit there, bro. Yeah, that's like golly, man. And you know what though? In Ian's defense, I'm not mad at him. I'm not. I mean, but damn, that's that's a fucked up situation. That's a fucked up feeling.
SPEAKER_03It's so hard, bro. And they need to get to the house, bro, and everything that's going on.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Dude, fucking, dude. Yeah, fucking. Oh, so we'll we'll talk about it off the cuff. I ain't I ain't gonna dig into it too much. But yeah, man, this movie definitely a solid nine, dude. Upon a rewatch and a director's cut, it might slide to a 10 for me. I ain't even gonna lie to you. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_03I gotta ask. I gotta ask. So I I went with my buddy to see this movie, right?
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03Um, and you know, he was like, I'm not gonna lie, man. I don't know if I could ever look at my girl the same. Because the whole thing, I don't know if he's on the memes where it's like going to see obsession with it with your with uh with your girl, and it's like she's just like me for real. Nah, hell not. I was like, yeah, I was like, I don't think that hit for you, but I was like, guys, if your girl's saying that after leaving the movie, you might need some fucking Yeah, you're gonna lose that motherfucker.
SPEAKER_02Hell then. But nah. But dude, a solid, solid fucking movie. By far, top, top three. I ain't gonna lie, top three movie. I don't the only thing I might have to put it over might be it might be number two. I ain't even gonna lie to you. Because I gotta think about it. The Furious, this, and what Project Helmary. Yeah, but I mean, even then, I I don't know, bro. I gotta think about it. So yeah, man, I don't know. Right now, it's probably this and the Furious at number one and two. I ain't gonna lie to you. I had I I mean, and I and the only reason I got the Fury, The Fury's just so fucking fun, dude. So fucking funny.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that was that was a blast. Furious was a movie I did not expect to enjoy nearly as much as I thought I was.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Furious is so fucking fun. But guys, that has been another, yes, another edition of One Take Real Talk, and it was all in one take.
SPEAKER_03I like watching you sleep.
SPEAKER_01One shot. Keep it real, guys.
SPEAKER_03Keep it real, guys.
SPEAKER_01Peace. Peace.
