Welcome to the Built for Pressure podcast episode 95. This is your Friday reset. This week, we looked at the water of systems change, the invisible currents that dictate your success. Today, we aren't looking at your organization. We're looking at you. We're going to submerge the triangle and look at the water you're currently swimming in. Find your baseline. If you can, close your eyes. Start with a breath. Inhale for the count of four. Hold for two. And exhale for a count of six. As you exhale, feel the surface of your week settle. Think about the explicit level of your life. Your to-dos, your schedules, your formal goals. These are the surface ripples. Most of your stress comes from trying to manage these ripples with more force. But for this moment, let the surface go quiet. Imagine yourself sinking below the waves into the semi-explicit layer, the layer of relationships and power. Who are you trying to power over right now? Where is a connection in your life feeling stagnant or blocked? Don't judge it. Just observe the flow. As you breathe, imagine these knots in your relationships beginning to loosen. You don't need more authority. You need more connection. Now, sink deeper. Go to the very bottom of the triangle, the implicit level, your mental models. This is the operating system that runs your life while you aren't looking. Identify one belief you've carried this week that has caused you friction. Perhaps it's, I have to do this alone. Or, failure is a permanent mark. Or, I'm only as good as my last win. These are the weights that keep you pinned to the bottom. Inhale deeply. And as you exhale, imagine that mental model dissolving into the water. It isn't a fact. It's just a condition of the system. And systems can change. What if you replaced it? What if the new model was pressure is proof of my capability? Or resources flow where I am most fluid? Feel the shift in your posture. When you change the model at the bottom, the entire triangle above it, the relationships, the habits, the policies, must reorganize themselves to match it. Inhale for four. Hold for two. And exhale for six. You aren't just part of the system. You're the steward of the water. The most effective change is the one nobody sees until it's already happened. You've armored the engine.
