Christen Clark [00:00:01]:
Hi friend. Welcome back to 7 Minute Devotions for Busy Parents. I'm Christen Clark. I am a fellow busy parent because I've got a lot of things going on just like you, and I'm trying to juggle them all and it doesn't always work. So I get you. Okay? I promise. I get you. I'm also the host of the Kolide Kids podcast where I get to interview all kinds of people about faith fun.
Christen Clark [00:00:22]:
Definitely go check that show out if you have not already. But here, this is just for us. This is just for the parents. I'm showing up with you as we spend a few moments today in God's word. So let's take a deep breath and dive in. You know, when I was a kid, I had this poster in my room and it was this beautiful blue sky background with these big fluffy clouds and had a Bible verse on. It was Psalm 19:1. The heavens declare the glory of God.
Christen Clark [00:00:55]:
The skies proclaim the work of his hands. I love that poster so much that actually one year my parents actually painted my bedroom ceiling to look like the sky in the picture. So my ceiling was sky blue with a mural of white clouds. It was awesome. I remember laying in my bed staring up at that ceiling, feeling like I was sleeping under heaven itself. It was awesome. Even now, I'm still fascinated by the sky. I love watching clouds.
Christen Clark [00:01:22]:
I love seeing the shape and the different colors. Sometimes they're soft and wispy, sometimes they're thick and dramatic. I've seen sunrises that fill the sky with hope and sunsets that make me stop in my tracks with their beauty. I'm always pointing out something I see in the sky to my family. It's sort of my thing. And isn't it funny sometimes how the most beautiful views appear in the most unexpected places? I saw this meme once that said you can spend hours hiking to the top of a mountain to see a view, only to find it covered in fog. And then the most stunning sunset you've ever seen happens while you're walking out of the grocery store. Isn't that so true? That made me laugh.
Christen Clark [00:02:02]:
It's so true. I've hiked up mountains before, hoping to see that picture perfect view only to see gray clouds. But I've also seen breathtaking sunsets from the Walmart parking lot or while I was pumping gas. It's like God is reminding us that his beauty isn't confined to to mountaintops. He is painting glory into all of the ordinary moments too. Psalm 19:1. It says, the heavens declare the Glory of God. The skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Christen Clark [00:02:31]:
Creation itself is constantly speaking, declaring God's glory, even without words. The sky, the stars, the waves, the trees, they're all testifying to the power, the beauty and the creativity of. Of our Maker. Every sunrise is like a new brushstroke on his ever changing canvas. When I stopped to think about that, I'm reminded that God didn't have to make the world beautiful. He could have made it all black and white, plain and practical, but he didn't. He made color and light and texture. He made patterns and sounds and movement.
Christen Clark [00:03:08]:
He made the world full of wonder because he is creative and. And he wanted us to experience joy through that creativity. And the most incredible part, the same creative God made you. You are not a copy or a coincidence. You were designed with intention, formed with care, and you were given a purpose. In Genesis 1, verse 27, it says we were created in the image of God, which means his creativity is reflected in us. And every time you come up with a new idea, or you design something amazing, or you cook a new recipe or tell a funny story, or you find a solution to a parenting problem, you're living out a small piece of God's creative nature. But sometimes we forget that.
Christen Clark [00:03:58]:
We look at ourselves and we think, I'm not creative, or I don't have any special gifts, or I don't look like that person. And In Isaiah, chapter 45, it talks about the potter and the clay. In verse nine, it says, does the clay say to the potter, what are you making? In other words, God knows what he's doing as he's shaping your life. He's molding you into something beautiful, even when you can't see the finished design yet. And just like those foggy mountaintops, sometimes his creative work in your life is hidden behind clouds. You don't see the full picture, just a blur of what feels totally unfinished. But the fog doesn't mean that the view isn't there. It just means you're not at the reveal yet.
Christen Clark [00:04:43]:
God's creativity is not only displayed in the skies, it's displayed in your story. Every high point, every valley, every waiting season, and every surprise turn is part of the masterpiece he's creating in you. So let's just take a moment to think. When was the last time you stopped and looked at the sky? Like, really looked at it? When life gets busy, it's easy to rush past beauty. But slowing down to notice God's creation helps us realign our hearts with his presence. It reminds us that he is still here, still creating, still speaking. You are part of God's creative design. The same God who paints those sunsets that you see and shapes galaxies is forming your heart.
Christen Clark [00:05:32]:
And he has given you a purpose. Friend, don't lose hope. The artist isn't finished yet. The masterpiece is still being painted. And when the fog lifts, you'll see that he's been at work all along. Let the heavens inspire you today to praise Him. Let the beauty around you remind you of, of his power and his goodness. Let your own creativity, whatever form it takes, be an offering of worship back to him today.
Christen Clark [00:06:14]:
Let's pray. God, I thank you that you are the ultimate creator. You are the most creative. Thank you for the skies and the. And the clouds and the colors and the birds and the music and all the things that surround us, that remind us of your glory, that proclaims your creativity and your wonder and your amazingness. And thank you that you've placed that creativity inside each of us, that we get to experience that and share it with others. Help us to see the beauty around us, to see the beauty in those ordinary moments, and to recognize that your hand is in our daily lives every, every day. God, I pray that you would help whoever's listening right now who's in a season of feeling foggy or unclear, that you would remind them that you are still at work in their lives even when they can't see it and they don't know what's happening.
Christen Clark [00:07:03]:
Lord, use us as your masterpiece and may we continue to reflect your glory in Jesus name. Amen. Well, thanks for listening today to 7 minute devotions for busy parents. Remember, even in your everyday moments, whether you're watching the sky or just walking out of the grocery store, God is showing his creativity all around you. So keep noticing, keep praising him and as always, keep showing up. Parents, God is with you.
