SPEAKER_01

Well, welcome back to another episode of the Towers of Power A Pro Wrestling Podcast. My name is Hollywood Chris, otherwise known as Chris Martinez, and that is Gary. That is Gary, but like I don't know what happened. See, like, like, oh, it goes to Vader? What the hell's going on? You know, there's been like a lot of updates that have been happening on our computers. Like, we had an update on the Zoom. I had an update on my like little sound effects board, and now like things aren't working correctly. So I'm just like, what is going on here? Is uh Mercury retrograde or what?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, probably.

SPEAKER_01

Is it probably there?

SPEAKER_02

We go miss that sound.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so we have a lot of stuff that we got to cover, and obviously a short uh amount of time. Brian is not here, surprise, surprise. But he did join us last Sunday at AEW's Revolution, right there at the crypto.com arena. Big shout out to AEW for having us out. Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you so much.

SPEAKER_01

And as you can tell, uh if you're seeing clips of this on Instagram or YouTube, uh my backdrop is from the media scrum that we were invited to and we participated in. And I was very proud of us. We asked some questions. Gary asked two questions, man. I did. And I asked one.

SPEAKER_02

Um waiting for that second one to be released, Chris.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah. Yeah. That's a better question, I think. I wasn't as nervous. Well, you didn't even identify. So here's the problem. Okay, so let's just go ahead and tell people what happens in these media things in the press conferences. When you're there, the proper etiquette, because I've done media for so long, and Gary, you did too. So I'm surprised that you didn't do this. Yeah. Yeah. Was that you pretty much state your name, your outlet, and then your question. Everybody that went before us wasn't doing that. They just said, uh, hey, Orange Cassidy, or hey, you know, uh, you know, throw me off, man. Yeah. Hey, Tony. So what do you think about like, come on, guys? Let's be professional right now. And that's the thing. Uh, they weren't. So Gary asked a question, didn't say his name, didn't say the outlet or anything like that. And I was like, damn, like he didn't say Towers of Power, a pro wrestling podcast. But when I had gotten the mic for my question to Tony Khan about Ronda Rousey, we'll get into that in a second. I said the whole thing, hey, it's Chris, hey Tony, Chris Martinez from Towers of Power, a pro wrestling podcast. All right, so blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And then you did it afterwards. So I was like, okay, at least we kind of got some cred.

SPEAKER_02

But I practiced in my head before I did it. I was so nervous, I was either gonna mess up my name or mess up the damn podcast name. So it's like Gary Dubing, Towers of Power, Gary Dubin. I will say this. And then I still fumbled.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Well, you did you said uh uh I tripped over my own words because it's a lot of people don't realize it. It is very intimidating, it's very nerve-wracking when you're there and you're asking this question pretty much for the world to hear because it was live on YouTube. And uh think about that, to be honest with you. Big shout out to one of our awesome listeners, Noah. Uh, I got a message from his mom saying that he stayed up and he listened and he watched the media scrum and and he heard our our our two questions. So yeah, so it's very cool to know that you know some of our listeners uh heard us right there on AEW, I guess, media. So very cool of AEW to have us, but we do have to go ahead and talk about the event itself. Revolution, probably easily, easily 8.5 out of 10.

SPEAKER_04

Ooh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because that I would even I'm on the verge of even saying almost a nine, because this is how great this pay-per-view was. You know, we talk about a lot all the time that we really don't watch AEW, and the reason why is I feel that it's just a lot of wrestling. You you know, you have the staples of Monday and Tuesday and now Friday for SmackDown. So you have Raw NXT and then um SmackDown. And AEW has dynamite and collision, but also it's different like networks, and it's like it's just so hard that I wish there was like one wrestling network that had all of it, that had everything TNA, ROH, New Japan, triple A, you know, CMLL, you know, so stuff like that. I think that would have been great if if somebody could come up with a wrestling network, I think that'd be awesome.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like the WWE network for 999.

SPEAKER_01

Well, yeah, well, yeah, but the WWE network also only just had WWE stuff, and obviously anything they acquired, which was you know, all the older stuff, ECW, WCW, stuff like that. But um, okay, so we had no idea, honestly, of what the card was. We barely learned about the card that day of us traveling up to LA. And I was like, okay, I'm like, I really don't know too many wrestlers of AEW. Just be honest. You know, I know the big names, I know some of the names that were in WWE prior to their arrival in AEW, but overall, I was just like, I'm like, okay, like what's the popcorn match? You know, which is gonna be that match that we kind of get up and walk around. And honestly, they made fans out of a lot of people that night, including I think ourselves, because we were just like, we didn't want to leave, we didn't want to go to the bathroom. We were starving. We're like, all right, let's go get food. All right, you go, all right. I'll I'm gonna stay, I'll stay and watch, and then you uh when you get back, I'll go. So we did one of those things, and and Gary, what would you rate it? I gave it an 8.5. What would you have given AEW Revolution?

SPEAKER_02

I'm kind of right there with you. 8.5, 8.7, and like you said, it's we were kind of going into it a little bit blind because like you said, I don't know a lot of these wrestlers. I know those that are popular, like the hangmans, the swerves, right, uh, FTR, but I might not know both matchup, both the babyface and the heel. And at the same time, I don't know who the heel is and who the babyface is. I mean, I I'm sitting there, I'm rooting for MJF, but I think he's the heel. And I'm I'm rooting for Swerve. Yeah, he's the heel. There's just too many storylines, and I think what I kind of talked about like when we were driving up, we were talking a little bit about AEW as a whole, as exciting as we were, as it was to be there, and excited as we were to go and have this uh really cool opportunity. It was more just who are all of these people that we know? I mean, that we don't know. Um, are we gonna know both people in the match? Are we gonna how how are we gonna get through all of this? Um, so we kind of we whipped out the um the the graphic of all the matches, and we're like, oh my god. Okay, so we're three and a half hours from home with traffic, and we're looking at this card, and it starts at 4 p.m. Pacific time, and whether there's a 13 listed, yeah. I don't think maybe 11 listed without, and then there were three on a pre-show, and I'm like, oh my goodness, all right, we're we're in it for the long haul. But I like you, you like you said, it was hard to even pick the time to go to the restroom uh to get the food because I was sucked in. They put on a hell of a pay-per-view, and I know we've we've kind of shit on them a little bit before in prior podcasts with just how long, just how long their their their P uh their pay-per-views are, not a PLE, a pay-per-view, um, how long they are. Um, but sitting there, I feel like we blinked and we were at the the main event. So they had us all hooked from from from the first bell.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm still learning some stuff, so you know, you do have to excuse my, you know, I guess uh lack of knowledge of AEW and wrestlers and the superstars there. Uh, but we did kick off yeah, sorry, wrestlers. Wrestlers. See, that's the thing too. It's like, you know, you're wrestlers you've been trained to go ahead and say a certain thing for so many years, and now it's like, oh, I can't. I I can say the W word, that's okay. Are you sure about that?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yep. They they made that statement, I think, a couple of times in the match. This is where the big guys go to wrestlers or the wrestle, or the this is where all the wrestlers go.

SPEAKER_01

We're the best wrestle. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what it is. We're the best wrestle. Uh, but we did see uh Big Boom AJ and Justice and the Rizzler. And you know it's funny, your best friends. I I shit on them, okay? Let's be, I did before. And then when because I'm like, they're the Costco guys. That's what I know them from. They're the Costco guys. And and when I saw them last revolution, which was a year ago, believe it or not, in LA, they really won me over. The crowd was so into it, you you kind of get caught up in it and you're like, Oh my god, this is fun. Yeah, let's go, big boom, hit him with the five booms, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. And this year they had another element where Wayne Brady was sitting ringside, and he gets involved in the match, and he slaps uh somebody. I honestly don't know. See, that's how I don't know. He slapped somebody from the opposing organism, he gets thrown over the barricade, the Rizzler's right there, Rizzler gets thrown to the floor, Big Justice has to come run and make a spear like a Goldberg spear right outside the ring. And it was it was a lot of fun. So um I just don't know everybody in that match, and so I do apologize, but I thought that match was great.

SPEAKER_02

I think honestly, but it but yeah, exactly. It was still great.

SPEAKER_01

We didn't know again, we we knew half of the team, yeah, and it was we still were hella entertained. And that's the thing, too, with AEW. I feel like you don't know, but when you go, you get so involved into it and you have so much fun. When they had a show in Oceanside, I think it was about two years ago for the first time in the San Diego area. I went to it and I was like, man, this is fun. I don't know these people, and we took our friend Robzilla, and I was like, man, this is this is fun. I I don't know who these people are. I knew like Moxley, who was there at the time, and I knew a couple other names that were there, but I'm just like, this is great, you know? Uh so big shout out to me.

SPEAKER_02

It was my first TNA, uh, sorry, TNA, AEW show. Um, I've been to TNA before, I've been uh to NXT, we've been to multiple WWE, but AEW first show live in holy hell blew me away. There was a there was a guy with us in the media scrum who had basically said, never seen it, never been to anything AEW before. In this pay-per-view right here, won me over. You have a a new fan. Yeah, and Tony Khan and Renee Paquette were very, very like you can see them kind of light up. It's like this is really cool. We have this media member who's never seen any of our stuff, and we converted him. Like it was it was amazing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, uh, and you know, there was a big there were big returns. This this was a pay-per-view that you have to watch. You definitely have to watch. I feel like somebody's right next to me. Uh, you see my photo, there's like an arm, so it kind of feels like somebody's right next to me. Yeah, hey, get out of here, scram. Yeah, um it's a it's a member of the meeting.

SPEAKER_02

Um LA Tacos?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yes, LA Tacos are right there. It's one of the guys. Uh, you know, so one of the matches that uh a lot of people were talking about, and this is where I asked my question to Tony Khan, was Tony Storm taking on uh Marina Marina Shafir. Yes, thank you very much. I was trying to find the last name. Um, with Ronda Rousey showing up at the end and confronting Tony Storm and jumping in the middle of the ring. A lot of people in professional wrestling uh don't like her. Let's just be honest. And the amount of booze that uh filled the crypto.com arena in LA, it was just so crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Not booze.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, definitely not drinking booze. Yes, but but the crowd was that happy.

SPEAKER_02

And I missed it. I was pissed. Yeah, so I did you miss that? Yeah, I missed uh what you were about to hint at, and I missed uh Rhonda who kind of came in at the end. I'm like, why is everyone pointing? And you're like, who's Rhonda Rousey?

SPEAKER_03

She was in the ring.

SPEAKER_01

I'm like, what is she doing? I didn't know I turned into an old lady.

SPEAKER_04

Like, oh my god, oh my brother. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's like Joey Styles, as I maybe his mom used to say that. Um, so that was a big that was a big shakeup because a lot of people just don't like her because she's shit so much on professional wrestling. Yeah. The WWE, the women's locker room, where she openly candidly said, like, oh, I dare one of those girls to actually tried me and I would I would fuck them up and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So for her to go ahead and be there, I was like, hmm, like, why is she here? What is she gonna do? But nonetheless, it was a big impact. And when we were backstage at the media scrum, that's where I asked my question to Tony Khan. What's the status with Rhonda Rousey? Um, in retrospect, I should have said a little bit more direct, like, is she all elite? But I didn't. But he and he did a great job of avoiding the question. If you want to check it out, we do have it up on our Instagram at Towers PowerPod, at Towers of Power Pod on our IG. So check that out. But uh, I thought it was I thought it was a great shocking moment.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And and the way that he said, Oh, she's always welcomed here. So I think that's gonna go ahead and have her be there. I think so. What do you think?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I I I don't know. He was dodging a lot of questions, but again, he's a little quirky, but man, he he knows how to answer questions without answering a question. Oh, absolutely. Absolutely in the in the greatest way possible. I mean, he in a way he did answer your question, but he wasn't direct. He was he did not say no, she's not at all. Hey, doors are always open. Come hang out with us really anytime if you want. She's she's best friends or really close friends with Marina Shaffir. I think everybody kind of knows that from way back when when they were all in, I believe, NXT. I believe Marina Shafir, one other person, and Rhonda, I think we're in uh NXT. Rhonda, of course, got called up. Uh oh, Shana Basler. Yeah, sorry. Was the other one? Um, but yeah, he she's always welcome. So we'll see, we'll see what comes of it. I mean, it was funny that he was plugging her match, uh, her her UFC match on Netflix. I'm like, oh, how far are we going with this one? But I mean, he's excited, so we'll see what happens. I heard a lot of people at WW are pretty shocked that uh that she was there. Only a handful of people knew that she was gonna be at AEW. So I don't know, man. We'll see where it goes. People, I just I just think the wrestling world, like you said, is does not like her. So she's gonna be a he's gonna get a heel wherever she goes.

SPEAKER_01

That's gonna work for them. Absolutely. And the funny thing about it, the funny thing about it too is like we're backstage and nobody's asking the question. Right. So that's why I'm like, yo, this I'm I'm like, screw this. I'm gonna go.

SPEAKER_02

You beat me to it, and I told you this. Yeah, I had it all in my head, and your hand went up, and I'm just like, you you you go. The guy saw you first, hit me, I'm just like, oh, damn it. I know he's gonna ask Rhonda Rousey question. Oh, yeah. Damn it, you did, because I was just I was gonna be more blunt than you. I was gonna say two words, Rhonda Rousey. What can you tell us? And like I was just gonna that was gonna be it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but I was I was just I was like, man, I'm like, nobody's asking this. This is like I know, you know, nobody talked about you know, Copeland and and Christian Cage returning. That was huge.

SPEAKER_02

You had TMZ, TMZ Sports or TMZ.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, whatever the podcast is.

SPEAKER_02

Like they were sitting right next to the ringing the bell or they were just looking, I think, for any clickbait or whatever. Swing next guys, they had some great questions, but yeah, you and I think we're the only ones that have popped in their head about uh about Rhonda.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because I'm just like, come on, guys, like let's they were more with the story, and I get it, but it's like as a casual wrestling fan that doesn't know the stories, keep me entertained. How are you gonna entertain me? Hell yeah. By by talking about people I know, and that's it. Um, all right, so what else did we see? Uh another match, uh Andrade, Andrade uh taking on Bandito, and that match, unbelievable. If yeah, we do have to go ahead and plug our TikTok at Towers of PowerPod as well, uh, because uh there's a video of Brian screaming something very inappropriate uh to uh Andrade, and it's hilarious. All right, so we do have that up on our TikTok, so make sure you follow us there. But that match was amazing, huh? What is it? Towers of PowerPod. What was it? Isn't it Towers of PowerPod? Am I? No, I don't have TikTok. You don't have TikTok? Are you kidding me? I probably am right, but I don't know. Now you have me questioning myself. Hold on. Yeah, Towers of Power Pod, yeah. Okay, cool. Dang, why you gotta question me, Gary, right here?

SPEAKER_02

Just making sure you're saying it multiple times so people jump on TikTok and follow us.

SPEAKER_01

See, we do have we do have the view of us like sitting there seeing Edge and Christian return. Uh yes, I did call him Edge, so that's because that's what I know him as. Okay. Uh the question of Tony Khan about Ronda Rousey, the people booing Ronda Razi, uh Brian screaming at Andrade, uh Wayne Brady being attacked. Yes. Yeah, what was up with that? Brian and purple hair man.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, the Towers of Power t-shirt on, but it was covered by his Girl Scout vest. Yes. Um, I I don't know, man. I mean, hey, LA style, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he wanted to show off his merit badges that he was earning there. I think he got one for sewing and knitting. Uh, I wish he was here to defend himself. Right. Next podcast we'll have him on, maybe. We'll talk about it. If he's not too busy working, you know. Um Mystico was announced that he is all elite. Also now one third of the Trios Championship, along with uh Speedball Mike Bailey, and who's the other one? The other guy. The other guy. See, that's that's how much we know, everybody.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, uh who lost his diamond stud earring at the disrupt.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that was hilarious too, and I felt so bad. Jet Speed. Huh? Jet Speed? Yes, Jet Speed.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Well, no, Jet Speed is the tag team name of him in Speedball. So jet something. Shout out to you.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, let me see. Hold on. I'm gonna look this up right now. Uh Jet Speed, yeah, well, that's what they're called. Mr. Go and Jet Speed taking on the uh Don Callas family. Yeah. So they're the new AEW trios champions. Let's see what other matches were there. Uh FTR defeated the Young Bucks, and that's when we saw the return of Edge and Christian. Yes, I will keep saying Edge because you don't really know him as Cope. I mean Cope. Yeah, if you do, great. Shout out to you if you do, but I don't know as well. Bing ding bing. Well, my buttons don't work here anymore.

SPEAKER_02

He will always be Edge. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

There it is. Yeah. He would definitely always be Edge, yeah. Uh then we saw, let's see, who do we see after that? I'm looking at the card right now. Gary, who do you know? I'm Strickland and Brody King. Yep. So Strickland and Brody King. That was an amazing match as well. I mean, some of those spots were just like, oh my gosh, I can't believe they're doing this. They're taking this right now.

SPEAKER_02

Swerve, Swerve is so so good. He's smooth. He is just saying, man. Yeah. Triple H fucked up. Oh yeah. Letting him walk. Oh my god. The future is so bright for that guy. I mean, it's it's amazing the amount of things, titles, and everything that he's won in AEW since since arriving over there. And like, holy hell. Like he he is a freaking beast. Absolute beast.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And you know, another match, and this is the one that Gary asked the first question too, was Darby Allen, Orange Cassidy, and uh Roderick. Roderick, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yep. Roderick Strong.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there it is. Uh defeated the dogs. Yep. And so Roderick Strong and uh Orange Cassidy were out in the media scrum, and Gary asked a question. Do you remember that question?

SPEAKER_02

Barely.

SPEAKER_01

No, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Uh was it? I think it was more along lines like what was you know, were you guys happy with the match, happy with the outcome? Obviously, as soon as I asked that question, I'm like, well, of course they're happy with the outcome because they won. Yeah. But just I think it was more along lines. Stupid question match. Damn it, dude. I got nervous and I just I just kept talking. Um, but no, I think it was just more about, you know, were they happy with the match? Was there anything? I guess more of like a plan in place because it's it's hard when it's not a singles match, and you got to worry about two to three other people in the match with you. So I think it was along the lines of those. So, you know, once it's edited and up on our on our Instagram, I'll go back and you know figure out what I asked.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that way you could all that way we could all see it at Towers of PowerPod on IG. Um, okay, what other matches happen there, Gary? Uh let's see. Andrade, Tony Storm.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, we had the um the 21 man um god, what do they call it? The 20 man oh the 21 man battle royal, I guess, if you will, for um Ricochet for his title, which I believe is the national. I believe you're right. Hold on. Let's go. Or Continental. It's one of the two. What is it? It's either the national championship or the continental. I believe it's the one. Fox has one. Ricochet had the other.

SPEAKER_01

I believe it's the national. I think uh let's see, I'm gonna look at right now and see what this says uh duh duh duh. Of course they don't have it on here because it was on the pre-show, which was which was okay, let's talk about that. Because yeah, it it it was towards the end of the pre-show, which is free, right? To watch. And then you obviously have to pay for the pay-per-view. So at the end, like we're like looking at the time, like, oh man, this thing goes live at 5 p.m. and this match is still going, and it's like 4 55. Like, okay, this is has to hurry up and finish. Guess what? It doesn't finish, it goes into the opening, which was so weird. Because then you think to yourself, like, did they miss the queue? Did they miss the go home queue? No, brilliant marketing from AEW. Uh, yes, you don't think so?

SPEAKER_03

I think I thought it was a brilliant because I think they flub because remember the the the ring announcer, she got on the mic, she goes, We're live in five seconds for like wait, what's happening?

SPEAKER_02

All the fucking fireworks, and I can't tell if the wrestlers in the ring were like, What the hell's going on? Because unless the ref said something to them. But I mean, I understand where you're coming from. Yes, I personally think they messed up because I think one of the people next to us, um, it was uh one one of the ladies from uh Body Slam, she was taking a lot of photos. Yeah, uh, shout out Body Slam. And uh she was she was saying this is like the third time this has happened. So in my head, I'm like, okay, they just keep missing cues or not realizing what's actually going on.

SPEAKER_01

No, I thought it was brilliant because that makes you want to see who the champion is or who gets eliminated next. And that guess what? You're buying the pay-per-view next thing you know, because you just want that curiosity. So that's why I was like, dude, that's that's kind of smart. I kind of like that. So uh shout out to them and the the winner of the new championship, uh, by the way, is uh Jungle Jack Perry. Jungle Jack Perry coming back. And and it was it was cool to see him backstage too at the Media Scrum. He talked about the last time that he was in the crypto.com arena, it was called Staple Center Arena back then with his dad, Luke Perry at SummerSlam. He didn't say it, but he was at Summerslam 2009 in the front row, being a little kid back there, and then going back fast forwarding to um this past Sunday. So uh let's see what other matches were there.

SPEAKER_02

As much as he wishes his dad could have been there to see it all. Obviously, it's just like it's it's it's sad. Like, you know, you look back at things like that, and you know, and just you can kind of feel for him a little bit, you can kind of see him getting Little bit choked up, but uh I'm overall hell of a match. That that battle roll. It was very confusing. So the match started outside of the ring for the most part, and then people are like getting in the ring and then getting tossed out. So I'm like, without the commentary, I and I we I don't know because again, we don't watch AEWs, that's how they always start them. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So why the fuck is everyone outside the ring?

SPEAKER_01

How people get eliminated, and then one by like a little by little, they kind of that yeah, that was very confusing because I'm just like Battle Royale, they don't they all start in the middle of the ring and then like you know, they just go over one at a time. So yeah, it was it was very unique. Uh like like you said, like we just don't watch, so we don't know. So, but uh nonetheless, it was it was a good time. Um, you're and then uh I don't know if you saw this, but Ricochet seems to be in some deep trouble right now with AEW, a little bit of heat uh with a tweet um that he posted, and uh just really taking aim at somebody with a disability, and now it looks like his job is kind of in jeopardy. Your thoughts on this? You obviously you know, when you think of it, he could be like, Oh, I'm doing it just to get the heat because I'm a bad guy. But there is a line at the end of the day, yeah, you know, and this is scripted reality TV, that's what I call it. You know, it's it we all know the outcomes of certain certain matches and things like that. Everybody knows it backstage, but when you're trying to get heat organically, you don't do that. If that makes sense, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

There there are lines to cross and the he gets crossed one that I'm sure I mean from what I've heard about him, he is an amazing person. And I think it could have been one of those, and I'm not defending him. I mean it could have been a heat of the moment thing, he could have just said it to say it um as as his character. Right. Um, and it's you know, people are gonna take to, you know, the Twitter sphere and and the world right now and what we're in, and people are gonna take it and run. Yeah, and it it's unfortunate, it really is. I I I hope that his job is not on the line because of that. He came out pretty quickly after that and and deeply apologized. He sent out a tweet. Um, you know, and actions speak louder than words.

SPEAKER_01

His fiancee, uh Samantha Irv Irv is it Irvine? Irvin. Irvin. Uh she DV she deactivated uh social media because of everything that's happening. Yeah, so I'm sure, you know, unfortunately, you're gonna get some heat as well, you know, when you're the significant other of somebody who's you know getting looked upon. So um yeah, so hopefully everything will be like resolved. You know, I just don't you never want to see anybody lose their job under circumstances like this. So I guess we gotta wait and see what will happen with Ricochet. Um all right, what other matches happened uh that we gotta go into?

SPEAKER_02

We had uh Moxley versus uh I can never pronounce this.

SPEAKER_01

Go ahead, try it, cuz I I you're looking at me like I know it. I'm looking at the name right here.

SPEAKER_02

I'm like, oh I I think that is I usually hear this conos goddamn it. Kenos Kanoski? Kenoska Takashita?

SPEAKER_01

We'll go with Takushida. Takeshida, okay, cool, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Go Mox. Yeah, and um this was the match for me that I kind of got up.

SPEAKER_02

I got up doing this. Yeah. I mean, I've always liked Moxley, I but I just don't know about all these other wrestlers, and I think that's that's that's the problem with with myself with with AEW. I've never been a Moxley. I heard it was a great match. Um I watched the whole thing. I think during that time, I think you and I were editing pictures and or maybe you got up at this time. Yeah, I got up just yeah, going to do things.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because I was I was I'm not a Moxley fan. I never have been. I never liked Dean Ambrose. Uh it was just not my cup of tea unless he was with the Shields. So I was just like, meh, I'm I'm gonna get up. And I think I went to the bathroom or I went to go get food or something during that time.

SPEAKER_02

But he is the continental champion, and I guess he he he defeated uh Takashita. Takeshida, yes. Good job, Gary. I know it's still wrong. I've heard it. I'm sure it is, I've heard it differently. Sure, somebody's gonna correct us. You guys said it wrong. Give us some credit. Maybe this is our clickbait because we're just saying everything incorrectly.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. That's gonna be like, yeah, we don't know AEW. That'll be the title of this podcast.

SPEAKER_02

Not not the botch 2.0 or anything like that. We're not botching, we're just botching names. Yeah, who's who's wrestling where? Okay. I mean, we can also talk about what Tecla and Chris Statlander. Yeah, I forgot about that. Yeah, championship match. Yeah, great, great match. I just I knew Chris Statlander, I think, very early on in AEW. I remember the name a lot. I can't remember if she was ever in WWE developmental Tecla. Couldn't tell you who the hell she is. I mean, she was the first one that came into the Media Scrum. I'm like, oh, cool.

SPEAKER_03

Who the hell's that?

SPEAKER_02

You know, I'm glad that Oh, is that who that was? Yeah, the very first one. She came in with the belt and everything. I'm like, she was very, very in character, the whole media scrum.

SPEAKER_01

She was she was she was great. Um, but the very first person was uh the guy from the dogs. Remember? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yep. I and I wish I knew his name. Definitely don't know his name. But he came in just like swearing up a storm. Yeah, I'm like, hey, this is great. I was just like, isn't this a little too much?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he said fuck like six times.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he said that, and he said uh go suck your mother. Um he said a bunch of stuff. Let me see. I I might have some clips of him on my phone. So let's uh center for the kids.

SPEAKER_02

Earmuffs, everybody, earmups.

SPEAKER_00

One of them, and folk Doctor Allen the most, and that's where the problem died.

SPEAKER_02

That's the only name I knew was Darby Allen. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

He said it's at the end. He wanted a coffee match.

SPEAKER_00

Oh I'm I kind of well, I'm a fact in this game.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, you do hear me laughing in that because I thought it's hilarious that he called those fat nerds and uh and that he said to go suck your mother as well. So I thought that was I was like, okay, all right, well, that's that. So um let's see, what are the oh, and obviously the main event, right? We gotta talk about that.

SPEAKER_02

That was incredible.

SPEAKER_01

The main event, Hangman Adam Page taking on MJF for the AEW World Championship. This match had it all. I mean, from the get-go, you know, it was it was uh Texas death match, and MJM uh MJF came out dressed as Terry Funk. So I thought that was super cool. I don't know if you caught on to that, Gary.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know if you I did not, but I think you guys were talking about it, and I still didn't get it, but I saw a post uh picture of Terry Funk and next to MJF, I'm like, okay, makes sense now.

SPEAKER_01

You're like, oh, I got it. I mean, we saw everything. We saw light bulbs, uh, lots of barbed wire. Was it too much, Chris? Was there too many things? You know, I thought it was too much. I thought it was a little bit too much. Um, because I understand what they were trying to do for the appeal and trying to satisfy every wrestling fan's like yearning desire to see all these things in one match. So you got it. They checked it off. But here's my problem is like you do all this, what happens next? Exactly. What are they gonna do? Obviously, they're gonna have to top this. So, like, how big and elaborate is the next one gonna be? Are we gonna see like more flaming this or that? You know, we did kind of see the what uh I don't think he actually lit the table on fire, but he had everything ready to go for it. But hangman Ed and Page does not do that.

SPEAKER_02

I think the crowd was chanting for we want fire a couple of times, yeah. And you could see uh hangman just like who's got a lighter? And actually, a crowd that I don't know if you saw it, but a diagonally across from us, some good dude legit had a lighter, and everyone's like, he's got one. And I think he saw it and then looked away because I don't think there was lighter fluid or anything under the ring. Yeah, um, it was more just all hearsay, but we did see a little bit of pyro more when they jumped off together when they were had their necks strapped together through chains. For the dog collar match that all of a sudden turned into a little firework show.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and I was like, Oh, okay, I'm like, well, this is kind of cool. But uh, I mean, hangman did come out with barbed wire wrapped around his hand as it is. Yeah, so it's like, okay, so you knew that we were in for something, and then um, you know, just the just the different stuff that they were doing. I thought it was I thought it was a little bit much, you know, because to me it reminds me. Excuse me, I had a cough right there. It reminds me of the old ECW where it's in the bingo hall, you know, everything goes. So I'm like, uh, we could do a little bit better, you know, and and and you know, we saw the the skewers, the wooden skewers, uh go right into the head of MJF after he was cut open. Um I think the most disturbing thing for me was to see the syringe right through the cheek. Uh MJF grabbed a syringe that was ringside and drove it right through Hangman NPage's mouth, like his side of his cheek, where you see the needle sticking out, and then he decided to go ahead and and push out whatever fluid was in the syringe. So then you see the needle and uh whatever coming out of the syringe right there out of his mouth. Uh we do have that video though up on our Instagram at Towers of PowerPod on IG. If you want to check that out, um, it was very unique to see.

SPEAKER_02

Viewers' discretion advised.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, very much so. Where I did put like a little like hazard warning on the picture to lead to the video. So just know that if you're kind of scrolling on our Instagram at Towers of PowerPod, you will see that as well. Um, overall, oh, of course, we gotta talk about the returns of uh Will Ospreay. Uh he came back after a neck injury, and it was good to see him back, and he looked like he didn't miss a beat. Uh we saw the return of man. We saw the return of Kenny Omega as well, who had been taking some time off. And uh, like I said, Edge and Christian or Cope and Christian Cage, those returns, and then obviously Rhonda Rousey. So overall, it was a great night for AEW, AEW fans. Tony Khan, thank you so much for having us. Um yeah, I I think uh that 8.5 for sure. Check it out on HBO Max if you haven't. You have time to go ahead and order that replay and go ahead and watch AEW Revolution. All right, so transitioning from that, we go into Monday Night Raw. It is WrestleMania season. Gary, the very first thing that we saw was Seth Rollins and a I guess that's the right word. Disheveled uh version of Paul Heyman coming to the ring, looking like he was still beat up and banged up from the last time. Who does he bring out? Well, the beast, Brock Lesnar. So Brock just starts destroying all of the Man, you just gave it away.

SPEAKER_02

Why would you let you know you know even Heymans is like F-A-F-O, you know, fuck around and find out. F-A-F-O, F A, F, and I he kept saying it, and I'm watching with my roommate Zach, and was like, holy shit, he's gonna say F5. He's bringing out Lesnar. F-A-F five. And I go, holy shit, finally, no, get that shit out of here. That's the music that came out too. No, no, it wasn't. I would have turned that shit up so damn quick. Oh my god. It's Maven! No, no. You can play remember, remember I told you? If we get Maven on here, you can play that shit as much as you want. You can change our entrance or our theme song for our podcast to that music.

SPEAKER_01

I definitely will be doing that once Maven uh answers on any of my DMs. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

So F-A-F-5. Brock's music hits, and I'm like, oh fuck, it's on. Because I think Seth said something about anyone that you align yourself with, or something to that effect. I'm like, well, that's a clear shot at Brock because we've seen them together more often than not now because of the vision and all the injuries and all this kind of stuff, or whatever the fuck's going on. But man, those two looked face to face, and then now you go, Chris. Oh, uh, no, no, no, no, no. I don't have the music. Now you can tell our listeners who showed up.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yes. Omar Femi. Yeah, Oba. Yeah, Oba, OBE, OBA, OBA, OBE. If you don't know, that's a running joke that I always call him Omar. Uh so Omar comes out and he does his little strut, you know, looking like double J Jeff Jarrett out there. And he gets right in the ring. How dare you? Uh he gets right in the ring, toe-to-toe with Brock Lesnar. And the standoff there, the crowd was going nuts because it really is WrestleMania season. Don't forget that Brock has his open challenge. Who's gonna face him at WrestleMania? It's is it gonna be Oba or is it gonna be Seth? Is it gonna be Omar? We don't know. So I can tell you this, it's not gonna be Omar. Hey, spoiler alert, stop that. Stop. How dare you, man? It's not gonna be Omar. Damn, like I wish my button went out.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think it's gonna be Seth because he is actually not medically cleared. Correct. He's still not cleared. So I mean, Oba versus Brock, Mania. We saw this being hinted at a little bit during the Royal Rumble when they had their standoff. Um, I'm so excited for this match, and I really hope it doesn't fall flat on its face. Um, just this these two just beasts going on, and to see how Oba handled Brock in the ring, and you can see Brock coaching him. I mean, oh, for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Let's let's talk about that. Well, we see we see him go ahead and pick up Brock Lesnar and just drive him right down to the middle of the mat. Oh, and and it was it was very, very powerful. He was great.

SPEAKER_02

Michael Cole's reaction was fucking fantastic. Oh my god. Don't ever shit on Michael Cole.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, definitely not. Your thoughts on uh Brock coaching. What what did you see?

SPEAKER_02

I think it was great. Um, I love to see the coaching because I think in in my head, I and I again I looked at my buddy Zach, and it's like, God, Brock just looks he just looks so dangerous in the ring. We saw him kind of getting rid of all the hooded people because of course they all came out with Seth, and he's just fucking suplexing them over. And I'm like, dude, he's just fucking grabbing him and throwing him. He's not even looking around him. But from from what I hear, he is the most safe person to be in the ring with. He actually does take care of those that he's working with. So Oba slams him to the ground, and you can kind of see him just like kind of like coughing, kind of getting at him. You can see him just like, put your foot on my chest, put your foot on my chest, and he's like, he just does it and then points to the sign. I'm like, that's what you needed. Yes. I mean, just standing over him or or a foot on the chest, like that kind of just cements it. But if you stand next to it, it it still does something for pointing to the sign. But just to see Brock coaching, um, the this guy who this essentially a rookie, amazing because the future is very, very, very bright. Um the outcome of this match um that will happen at WrestleMania, probably a night two type of a thing, but who knows? Fucking pull it on night one, got people watching. Um, I do see some weird kind of ending. Um, I in a way, I almost don't see either one of them winning. Um, from what I've heard, is is Lesnar's had some talks where he's probably going to be retiring at SummerSlam, and he does not want to be defeated until SummerSlam. Do they have Brock defeat this new beast, if you will, in Oba? No, probably should, but I don't think it's gonna happen.

SPEAKER_01

So you can't, and the reason why you can't is because that's gonna destroy the momentum that you're building up for Oba. So the moment you do that, you have this part-timer, you know, no offense, but essentially a part-timer coming in and dethroning him. It kind of reminds you of like back in the day when Punk was champion and The Rock came back, you know, and then and Punk had to relinquish the title to The Rock so he could go ahead and headline WrestleMania, you know.

SPEAKER_02

So we'll see what happens. I think that match is gonna be probably one of the the better ones of the entire weekend.

SPEAKER_01

And we've already seen some of the lineup. I did see something, and I don't know how true this was, but there was a photo that's circulating around on on IG where uh after Brock had told Oba, like to hey, put put your foot on my chest, put your foot on my chest, um, as he's getting out of the ring, Oba is crying. Like you see, you see his eyes are all teared up, and yep, and because it's a big moment, it really it really solidifies who Oba is and who he's gonna be when you have somebody of that stature of Brock Lesnar who's big in WWE, telling you it's okay do that because it's it's really it's a it's a it's a forbidden rule from what I know, unless it's part of your character. So I remember uh I think our good friend uh of the show who will probably one day come on Maven. He did talk about this story where he really did legitimately get you know hot in the ring against a jobber. I think it was a dark match, because this guy went into business for himself, essentially, and knocked it knocked him down, and like he's on the floor. The guy puts his foot on his chest, and and and Maven just completely no-selled it, just threw him off, and like he got in the guy's face, he started beating the shit out of the guy. Like, yeah, like in the middle of the ring. So I would love to let's get him on podcast and talk all about it. So, yeah. Um, all right, so then we saw let's see what happened next after that. Obviously, that match is gonna be a part of WrestleMania, like you said, probably night two. AJ Lee defending her intercontinental championship against Bailey. Your thoughts on this match? I like you know, you and I both said it should have been a WrestleMania match, yep, but your thoughts.

SPEAKER_02

That's I was my I hate to say it, but that was my popcorn match um if we were watching live. Um didn't really do anything for me. Um I think everybody knew that Bailey was not going to win. Um, so in my head, I'm like, what's the point of all this? Um they're not gonna have AJ not be the champion going into WrestleMania weekend. Uh and of course, we saw the return of Becky Lynch. Yes. So surprise, surprise, gets what we're gonna see at WrestleMania. Bailey versus Becky again, which I didn't think was a good match to begin with a couple of months ago.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, you know, um the match, uh I tried to get really into that match because both of both women are super talented, however, the chemistry was not there. Like you see a lot of the ring rust from AJ Lee, and the timing was off, and like she she went for a pin, and like you know, I I think it was like a cradle, and like she had to wait for Bailey to get down, and she took a step and then she stopped, and then she went. It's like the smooth momentum was not there, and I think that's because like you've been away for so long and you haven't had a lot of matches.

SPEAKER_02

It's almost like the the veteran, I'm gonna call them divas who are coming back, are almost like a step or two behind, and we see that a lot with the Bellas. We just see them in the or or in the matches. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh and where are they at too, by the way?

SPEAKER_02

They showed up on they showed up on SmackDown. Did they? Yeah, I mean I it was one of those things ago. I know we were just talking about it. I'm just like, what the hell?

SPEAKER_03

Or what's a smack? I don't see now I can't remember if it was SmackDown or if it was Raw. I can't remember.

SPEAKER_01

Definitely was not Raw. Because they came out at Raw and said, like, we want the championship, the tag team titles. And that was it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so they came back and they did that. That's all they did. Oh, okay. So they haven't been. They were back on TV. Yeah, was it Raw? That was Raw. Okay, yeah. So it was after the Raw Rumble. No, I mean like this past week. No, they weren't on. Okay, then they were on SmackDown this week. Okay. This past week. Okay. And they're then again they went right into it. Like, we want the tag titles. I'm like, cool. Where the fuck have you guys been off TV for the last three weeks? Yeah. But it's cool. Remember all this with the Bellas, and we haven't seen them since. Yes, exactly. I think it kind of goes again, Bailey, um, sorry, AJ Lee, the Bellas, all of these divas that are coming back. Um, they're they're losing a step um with with Bailey, um, with the women's tag belts. Um I think this this this new school uh of superstars, female superstars, are just so uh far above and beyond what they were. Maybe not at their peak, um, but just right now. They're just they're just so far ahead. And I think that's where we're kind of seeing these botches and these fumbles between these matches when you have like these up and comers, and I'm gonna toss Bailey as in, you know, I know she's one of the olders, but she's on this new school when you're looking at uh AG Lee, AJ Lee or even Bellas.

SPEAKER_01

So um, yeah, I think it's gonna be interesting interesting to see WrestleMania, you know, between AJ Lee and Becky Lynch. I know you're not a fan of it, but I I think I think it would be good-ish, you know. I don't know, but I guess we had to wait.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Wherever we saw.

SPEAKER_01

Um, all right, so then we saw Penta defending his Intercontinental Championship against Dragon Lee open challenge. What a match. The rumor was that, well, it's not a rumor, but we do know that dirty Dominic Mysterio is injured on the concussion protocol. So he is sidelined right now. You know, he has a big match in AAA for the Mega Championship, which he still is a champion. And he suffered a concussion there. He had some gnarly stitches on top of his head as well to form a chair shot.

SPEAKER_02

That was early on in the match, too.

SPEAKER_01

Was it? I didn't get a chance to watch it, so yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't watch it either. Some someone had mentioned that that the the the chair shot to the head was it. Early early. And it's crazy to me that obviously WWE is, you know, overseeing everything AAA now and they're allowing headshots.

SPEAKER_01

Well, okay, now was it when was it a clean headshot or was it when he threw the chair at him and hit him in the head? I believe it was a clean headshot. I'm gonna have to go back and rewatch, but I believe it was a clean headshot. Dang, yeah, that is kind of scary. But uh Penta and Dragon League, an amazing match. It was it was good. That was good. That was a really, really good match. Um, let's see. We also saw the women's champion Stephanie Vacare take on Raquel Rodriguez. Not for the belt. Not for the belt. Right. No, not for the belt. Yes. Uh, your thoughts on that match? That was my popcorn match.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, I can see that. I one, bring back Stephanie Vacari's music. Don't get rid of this new shit that she's been coming out to the last couple of weeks. It's awful. Um, I think I'm a couple of them like, who the hell is coming out? Like, who is this? She came into the ring first. I'm like, who is it? Everything, everything the whole arena is black, and now they got red lights. I'm like, who the fuck is this? I'm like, God damn it. It's it's Vaquera's her old music, man. You knew it when it was her. But I think overall, decent match. Uh, I think they're really trying to push Raquel Rodriguez. I think they're really trying to get that big mommy cool going. Uh, more matches she has with with those of Stephanie Vacari's ability. Good good for Raquel. Yeah, it was good. We'll see where it goes. We'll see where it goes.

SPEAKER_01

Then we saw the involvement of EOSky and Liv Morgan in that match as well. So I'm sure that's gonna set it up for a tag match on Raw, you know, next week. Probably, yeah. Probably, yeah. Um, let's see. And of course, for the hundredth time, uh, Natty and Maxine Dupree. Popcorn match. Okay, like I don't know. I do I just don't know what's not clicking with the Natty gimmick. I'm a fan. I I I think she's a fantastic. It's just WWE. She is fantastic. Yep. But I just I don't know what it is. It's like they're forcing her on us where it's like, give it some time. They should have built it up a little bit more, more vignettes still. Like I said at the beginning, like a couple weeks ago when this character debuted, they shouldn't have rushed it. Leave her back, put her in triple A. I think, I think maybe do something with that, you know?

SPEAKER_02

But but again, up against Maxine again, which is it, the third or fourth time in like a month, maybe a month and a half. Um, it's just yeah, it it sucks because I think when we saw a lot of these clips of Natty's new gimmick, gimmick, if you will, in GCW and wherever, I'm like, holy shit, like this natty I can get behind. I hope we see this natty in WWE, and yeah, shows up. First, I'm like, that's cool, new music, new this, new that. And I think maybe maybe it's just because she keeps facing Natty. There's nobody else stepping up to her. Um, sorry, she keeps facing Maxine and no one else is stepping up to Natty. Um, so I'm I'm not I'm not sure. Um, Maxine Dupree, great fucking talent. Um, I don't know if you caught this when you were watching Raw. If we want to get into it, go ahead. Um, there's a backstage, I believe it was Bailey and someone talking, kind of in the forefront. And in the back, because we all know how WWE likes to kind of toss those little Easter eggs in there, and you see her, Maxine, kind of just sitting on the ground, almost just like, what the hell? I lost the match again. And uh you see Austin Theory come around the corner and realize she's sitting on the ground, he kind of kneels down kind of next to her, talking to her. Logan Paul comes in the picture, and Logan Paul gets up. I mean, um Austin Theory gets up and they kind of walk off. So is there more to this? Are we adding a female member to the um they get they gotta do something with the vision? They have to do something. Paul Hammond hinted at um they're going for the tag belts. Um, so at least we're gonna try to get a little something, something. But I don't know, maybe adding Maxine to to a faction like that.

SPEAKER_01

We'll see. Yeah, I think that would be good for her and her character and maybe uh make her more of a a force to be reckoned with, yeah. Like they used to say back in the day. Um, all right. Well, and then we saw the the two grande Americanos take on each other. Again. Again.

SPEAKER_02

Now I'm getting bored with the two of them.

SPEAKER_01

With a big with a huge wardrobe malfunction. Did you see that? I mean, like, how could you not, right? I don't think I did. You didn't see that? So Gable went for, I think it was like a tumble on the outside to take out one of the other guys. And when he got back in the ring, he slit his singlet in the in the butt. So you just see his you see his thong that he's wearing.

SPEAKER_02

I missed it. I I must have been doing the click through because I was just trying to get through it.

SPEAKER_01

Just go back and watch like the last half, and it's it's you see every single thing like he's doing. I'm like, oh man, that's that kind of sucks for Gable or the original, the OG. Um you know, so WrestleMania obviously is here, and then we had the whole uh CM Punk versus Roman Reigns standoff that happened right there in the middle of the ring, where Reigns finally got to punk and he pushed his buttons too much, and Punk just lost it and hit him. And the reason why he hit him is because Reigns went right for the juggler. Called him old. Ow. Right in the kisser. He said, You're old. Right in the kisser, you old man. Yeah. And I'm like, really? This is this is this is what we're getting down to? I don't know why Larry hasn't been talked about. Do you think that's off limits?

SPEAKER_02

No. So what I what I read somewhere was that Roman was supposed to bring up Larry last week. Um, whether Roman forgot or he's just like, I'm gonna get a lot of heat. There's a lot of pet lovers out there, and I'm gonna come out looking like an asshat. Maybe he backed away. I I I do not know. Um, but I think it's on the table. Um, I'm sure obviously, just like Roman gave Punk the thumbs up to mention his father who passed away. I'm sure Punk's like, uh he's my dog. Uh I mean, for the sake of the story, go for it. I mean, yeah, unless Punk's like, no, don't fucking talk about it, then maybe that's why. Um, but see, I heard that. I think I think Punk had him on the mic on Monday. I think Punk Punk had him. Roman looked like Roman versus John Cena, however many years ago.

SPEAKER_01

For sure. Still the promo, can't learn to do it.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. Roman seemed so lost. I think he he he mentioned the same thing two or three times just to speak.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, but yeah, yeah, yeah. Punk had his number. Punk had his number. And you know, kudos to both of them. It's gotta, you know, I don't know if I could get on the mic and do anything like that. I'd start fucking laughing my ass off. Yeah. Um, especially if I'm going up with someone that I that I know and and I respect. One of the zebros. Yeah, zebros. Boom. Um, but yeah, yeah, punk punk had punk had his number.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I did hear that punk uh did not okay Larry. That's what I heard, that he's still too emotionable about losing Larry. So which uh, you know, maybe maybe he's like, hey, don't don't talk about the dog yet. Yeah, maybe maybe it's gonna be closer to WrestleMania where, you know, because that's that's gonna be a clip for sure. Sure. Yeah, that's gonna be a clip. Uh one other thing that we have to talk about right before we go is the Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes saga, where Michael Cole was gonna conduct uh interview with uh Randy Orton, you know, via satellite, but Orton was talking to somebody and he was on the phone with somebody, and there's a lot of theories going around of who that person is that he was talking to. Um I'm gonna throw out one that Tommy Dreamer had said on Busted Open. He said he said the rock. He said that I could see him selling his soul for that tit for that title and it being the rock, you know. Um your thoughts on who Randy Orton was talking to on the phone very early on.

SPEAKER_02

I almost want to go back and listen to it again and watch and see if I pick up in any keywords or anything like that, because you know that's how WWE does their thing. Um, but Orton looks right into the camera and goes, I'm a killer. I'm like, yeah, oh my god, it's Carrion Cross. Killer, killer cross. That's the first person I thought of. He goes, I know you've been watching, and I feel like Cross always had that kind of you know, the angel and the devil on your shoulder. He did that a lot with Sami Zayn. Um, really anyone. Um I was trying to get either get a faction somewhat together, which he never really did, like that was a good faction. He had AOP. Um, but just you know that he l you know that Gary and Cross, you know that he watches. I mean, he's just a wrestling fan. Of course. Um, so that that was the first person that came into mind um as to help out, but I'm like, okay, but how does that tie into Cody? So yeah, so I did start thinking about The Rock too, and it just makes the most sense. I really hope this isn't another storyline that you know washes away.

SPEAKER_01

That we don't get any payoff?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, there's no payoff.

SPEAKER_01

I still want to know what the rock handed Cody Rhodes, you know? What did he yeah, what what was it? What did he hand him? No idea. Yeah, well, the the world will never know. Fucking rock. I know.

SPEAKER_02

Um he's ruining wrestling.

SPEAKER_01

A lot of people said that it's uh his father, Bob Orton Jr.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, because it was said there's what there's um wrestling has one more than one royal family, right? So I think that's where like a lot of the either the Orton blood or again bloodline. Um, a lot of talk about you know, drop the bloodline again.

SPEAKER_01

He is the third generation, right? So Cowboy. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

There's a lot of royal families that have come through WWE or just pro wrestling as a whole, so we'll see. Or or we won't. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

So another person uh they said was the nature boy Rick Flair. Okay, because there's you know, wrestling has more than one royal family. Another another theory, fan theory, is that it's Charlotte Flair. That he was talking to Charlotte Flair because Charlotte could jump in the ring as well now, because I think Rick's with AEW technically still. So if Charlotte could jump in the ring to represent the Flairs, could you imagine that? Have the Rhodes, the Flares, the Ortons?

SPEAKER_02

I don't it to me, it's weird because if if this is gonna be someone that can take Cody out to help Orton, why get Charlotte involved? Um so I I I personally think it's it's either gonna be someone from his family, which I think he's the only kid, if you will. Um is it is it the rock? I think the rock makes the most sense for storyline purposes to pick up from a year or two ago, right? Um, or I mean I'm gonna stick with killer cross, uh, carrion cross. Um, maybe it's Gunther in a way. I don't know. That's the other thing, too. He keeps going, um you know, we're basically coming out to Gunther uh whenever he wants to fucking come back to work. Um, as he is not only the legend killer, but he's a career killer. So we keep kind of seeing like these key words killer, career killer, um, you know, um um legend killer. So I I I don't know. I mean it's exciting to kind of have something to you know to talk about on these fantastic podcasts that we get to do. And I don't know. Hopefully, hopefully we get a payoff. Couldn't fucking tell you, but I hope we get a payoff.

SPEAKER_01

I'm hoping it's the rock. He owes us. Of course you are. Yeah, yeah. He owes us. I will say that. You know, and so he owes a lot to a lot of people. I know, and a lot of money too. I mean, ticket sales are still slow for WrestleMania night one and two two-day combos uh dropped again. So if you're looking to try to go, I think uh might be the time to look at tickets. Yeah? Are you gonna look? I think I think you should, Gary. I think you should look.

SPEAKER_02

Broke. Hey, if anyone is out there, if you're hiring for position, I am a free agent. Let me know.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I am a free agent. Free agents right here. I think that's gonna be the new podcast. Free agents. Maybe that's the title. Maybe that's the title of this podcast. Free agents.

SPEAKER_02

Free agents who don't know AEW. That's all right.

SPEAKER_01

We're learning, we're part of the learning team.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, hey, Tony Khan, anytime you want to have us back, we'll be happy to go. Fucking great time.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was such a great time. I will I really wanted to talk to him one-on-one, though.

SPEAKER_02

And I was I was trying to just skedaddled out of the press conference.

SPEAKER_01

Real quick. And I was like, damn, and he came in with his huge bodyguard. You see that? The one that was standing right next to me. Oh, yeah. I was like, dude, who is this guy? Yeah, piercings all over him. Nice little fanny pack on, though. Yeah, oh do you know what they say they carry in that funny fanny pack, right? No, no, uh, protection for themselves in case things get out of control. A lot of wrestlers back in the 80s and early 90s would carry guns on them. Um, so that way in case some stuff happened, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I'm sure there's mace or something like that in there. I I was kind of kind of thinking about what the fuck is in that little fanny pack? But of course, you were standing pretty like between us and the ring and the the table, it's like, oh yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I should have raised my hand and excuse me, sir. What kind of snacks do you have in that fanny pack? Can I get some goldfish, please? Yeah, I'm like, little kid. You got a bag of cheese, it's but the extra crispy kind.

SPEAKER_02

Man, because we were hungry. It was what almost like 11:30 at night. We're doing that.

SPEAKER_01

We still had a long drive home. Oh man, I was starving. We didn't get home until what time did you get home? Like 1.40? 156, I think, is when I pulled into my driveway.

SPEAKER_02

Shout out to Vegas Jeff.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, shout out to Vegas Jeff. I know he's listening right now. I know he's a big listener. To and from LA. I would give him a bell, but it's not working for me right now. There you go.

SPEAKER_02

Well, shout out Vegas Jeff. Appreciate you. Thanks so much for uh hauling our asses up to and from. Great time.

SPEAKER_01

You know, before we go, because we do have to go, you know, all this WrestleMania talk. Um, I gotta go figure out financial stuff too. But we do have to shout out the San Diego Seals, the lacrosse team. Tomorrow night, actually, they're hosting the huge wrestling thing. So if you're in San Diego, yeah, if you're in the San Diego area, surrounding area, go ahead and look it up. Uh, Gary, like, do you know who's gonna be there? There's uh obviously a surprise guest, and I'll let you do the honors.

SPEAKER_02

So, yeah, so come out to the SEALs game, National League of Lacrosse, Pachanga Arena, Saturday night, 7 o'clock game, post-match. There is going to be a rumble, a rumble match. Uh, we've got names, the likes of Chris Masters, the master lockers. The masterpiece, Chris Masters. Masterpiece, that's it. Uh, Hammerstone, Brian Cage, Brian Cage, buddy. Yeah, Brian Cage, uh Matthias. Uh, we've talked about a couple times with uh, yes. So super excited. Come on out, and what they also released about two weeks ago is that WWE superstar The Miz will also be in attendance. He will be doing a nice meet and greet from I believe 6 30 till about nine o'clock. Um, that is a separate ticket package. Um, so if you haven't done so yet, make sure you guys, if you do want to meet the Miz, uh make sure you are buying that special ticket package. If you've already got tickets to the game, um, they are selling just the tickets for the meet and greet in section four. So make sure you jump on that. It's gonna be a fun, fun night. If you've never ever seen Indoor Lacrosse, it is fucking fun. It it is a great, great show.

SPEAKER_01

I will say this about the ticket to the bands. If you look at it, it might be a little pricey, but all the proceeds are going to the children's hospital right here in San Diego. So that's called Rady Children's Hospital. Yes. So uh just know it's gonna it's going for a good cause.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

All right, well, I think that does it for our all of us right here. Um, let's go ahead and throw out some socials, Gary.

SPEAKER_02

You got it. G Dubs33 on Instagram at Gary underscore Dubin on X. Towers PowerPod on X.

SPEAKER_01
