SPEAKER_01

Ladies and gentlemen, here, and you're listening to the Towers of Power Pro Wrestling Podcast. Please welcome your host, Gary. Trying to future superstar.

SPEAKER_03

All right, we are back with another episode of the Towers of Power, a Pro Wrestling Podcast. My name is Hollywood Chris, otherwise known as Chris Martinez, and joining me right there is Gary. Good morning, Gary. Good morning, good morning. It's funny because normally we tape these in the afternoon, but today, you know, we have a busy hectic schedule. There's a lot for us to talk about and recap, so we decided to go ahead and wake up extra early just to go ahead and make sure this podcast is good and ready to do it. Just for you. Just for you. Just for all of our listeners. Yes, amazing listeners. And welcome to those brand new listeners as well that followed us on uh on Instagram at Towers of Power Pod because I was out at WrestleMania dressed as the Macho Man Randy Savage. Yes. Oh yeah. The Macho Man Randy Savage. Yeah. Um, and we have to recap everything. So we let's let's go ahead and just start with. Do we want to start with my experience? Do we want to recap WrestleMania itself? What do we want to do, Gary?

SPEAKER_02

Let's start with your experience and we'll kind of just go chronologically chronologically at 7:34 a.m.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I know I know. So I arrived in Las Vegas early Friday morning. I talk about very, very early Friday morning. And right away we were excited because we got to see everything from the billboards that were flashing in WrestleMania happening tomorrow, you know, with Cody Rhodes, and you see Randy Orton. The funny thing about that was this is the second year in a row in Vegas, and the second year in a row as well, that AEW had electronic billboards to promote dynamite.

SPEAKER_02

And I thought that was genius.

SPEAKER_03

But here's the other thing that I think they should have done is I think that obviously some of the wrestlers were at WrestleCon, but I think it would have been even better if AEW had like their own like AEW party. I think that they could have capitalized on that. Hey, this exclusive VIP meet and greet. And I would have I would have loved for them not to charge as much to meet their wrestlers, just like WWE did.

SPEAKER_02

Like the prices right go like a dollar less.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, exactly. I think like, you know, well, how much is Cena? Like$600. I think Stone Cold was like around that same price. You know, some of these other stupid superstars were at least over a hundred. So I think that would have been cool, you know, if you all of a sudden here's this AEW collision happening at you know, wherever at the palms or happening at a hotel that he's affiliated with. And I'm talking about Tony Khan. But uh yeah, I thought that was great marketing on their part. I think they could have done a little bit more as a marketing person uh like yourself, Gary, and myself. I think uh we could have we could have done a lot more, and so with that in mind, that's where I was like, okay, we need to go ahead and promote this podcast, and we want to go ahead and make sure that people know about us a little bit more and we value everybody. So let's go ahead and do something. That's when we came up with the idea of me dressing up like the Macho Man Randy Savage. So I was like, all right, let's go ahead and do this macho man stuff. But before I get into all the details and why I got kicked out, okay. Yes, you didn't tell me this. Yes, exactly. Oh no. Friday afternoon, they did have a WrestleMania kickoff party right there at Toshiba Plaza that's right in front of the T-Mobile Arena. We got to see Dirty Dom, uh Rey Mysteria, Penta, uh uh CR Punk showed up. Yeah, you know what's funny is that like I don't think a lot of people knew about that. And I didn't know. Our shout out to our friend Robzilla and Jen. They were the one to tell me, like, hey, there's this kickoff party right before you know SmackDown. I'm like, oh shit, no way. He's like, Yeah, come on through. So we walked over there and we were staying pretty close. We were staying at the Planet Hollywood um timeshares. So we walked over there and just seeing the crowd, I know we're very bougie. So it was really cool just to kind of see that and like how they do it, and and have people like really like get amped up for WrestleMania. So we we got to see that. We went into the superstore, and the superstore was huge at the convention center, huge.

SPEAKER_02

So this is different from world, yes.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, so it's connected to the world. So pretty much you could buy a ticket to the world, you go into the world, and then your exit is the gift shop, and that's that's WWE superstore. So the superstore was huge, which was fantastic because in the years past they haven't been that big. So it was big, but here's the thing like I'm looking at all the merch, nothing caught my eye. And I was just like, and I don't know if I was just over the fact that like, hey, I had to pay a lot for a ticket, or hey, like there's you know, there's just money grabbing right now, you know, because the world is right next door, and I just I just felt like uh like I don't I can't justify myself spending another 40 45 dollars on a t-shirt and the designs weren't to my liking. Um I know a lot of people liked them. Uh I was just like not so much for me. There was one, there was one, maybe two items tops that I was like, man, I gotta get this. And I didn't get it, you know, because it was a lot. It was it was a uh Mitchell Mitchell and S, you know, that brand. They had a they had a bomber jacket. My friend Vegas Jeff actually picked it up, and it was it was black and red, so all black with a little bit of red. It almost looked like our colors for you know, yeah, our colors, too. Yeah, exactly. That's how I was like, damn, I really want that. And it said WrestleMania Cross and a little thing that said Vegas, and in the back was a big huge WWE logo, and I was like, man, I need to get that, but it was like 160 bucks. I was like, I don't need it that bad. And I'm like, how many times do I wear jackets around in Southern California? So I opted to pass on it, but I did pick up a lanyard, so I got a nice lanyard that said WrestleMania. I was like, okay, I got something out of there, but it and I I always felt like I forced myself to buy something.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's it's one of those experiences where it's like, you know, I want to remember like where I got this, what I did. Right. So it's like I I get that. I mean, yeah, I was out for I mean quick ten years ago. I did I work for spring training for the Padres and they put me up in Peoria and I got a freaking Arizona Coyotes 47 brand pullover. I'm not even a coyotes fan. I'm a Bruins fan. But it was like I now have that pullover. I mean, I don't I think someone in goodwill has it now, but I mean like I bought it because I wanted to remember the experience.

SPEAKER_03

It's either that or it's like an impulsive buy. I think that's really what it was, and I think that's what they're capitalizing on. And I saw like so many people drop so much money like on different things, which is great. I mean, that's that's your thing, you do it. Kudos to you if you got the cash. I want to know what job you have and see if they're hiring. Um yeah, please. ASAP, ASAP. Um, so okay, so from the superstore, then uh, you know, uh that we called it a night, and then we're getting ready for WrestleMania. This is Friday. This is Friday. Okay, so WrestleMania. No, I did not go to SmackDown. Okay. Um, tickets weren't that it actually weren't that expensive. Uh the cheapest ticket I believe to get into T-Mobile from what I saw was 60 bucks. So not too bad, but I was like, nah, I'd rather keep my money for to go gambling or go buy like food or something like that. Yeah. Because I'm like, I'm very, you know, tight with my money right now, especially because you know, not having a full-time job kind of sucks, everybody. Um so with that said, we got ready for day number one of WrestleMania. This is where I decided to dress up as the Macho Man Randy Savage and go to WrestleCon. The WrestleCon was happening two hotels away from us, okay? So I'm like, man, I gotta dress like Macho Man, okay, and walk across one hotel, which is planned in Hollywood, out to the boulevard, right, across the Paris hotel, and then go into the horseshoe hotel. I didn't realize how great my costume was. Okay, so I I will say my costume is awesome. If you haven't seen it, we'll post it up on Instagram at Towers of Power Pod. I got stopped from the moment I walked into the mall area of Planet Hollywood. It was early in the morning, too. We decided to go ahead and I said, let's just do an hour, we'll hand out Slim Jims, kind of meet people, say what's up, like tell people about our podcast. And people, people were great. Um, so I told my friends Jeff and Joshua I went with them. I'm like, hey, give me 10 to 11 a.m. Just help me out, we'll hand out some Slim Jims. I bought 300 Slim Gyms, okay? And they were the mini, there were the mini ones, and so I'm carrying these Slim Jims. As soon as I walk into this mall, there's this little kid. I I'm not even kidding you, probably maybe about like seven or eight. And he's like, Dad, macho man Randy Savage. Oh my god, yeah, no, no, no. He's called me dad, no. He's like, and he's pointing at me, right? And and I did the whole thing with my hands, oh yeah, right. And then uh, and then he's he's freaking out, like he just met a celebrity. And that's awesome. And so he's Hollywood Chris. Yeah, exactly. Hollywood Chris. I'm like, hey, follow me on my podcast, kid. You don't even know who I am, but yeah, follow me. So I take a photo with them, and I think this kid really thought I was Mancho Man because he's like, Hey, I gotta ask you a question. What are your thoughts on Hulk and I'm like, oh shit, what do I say? Oh no. So I was like, Oh yeah, brother, I'm like I was like, the makeup powers, yeah. I'm like, hey, the pukster, oh yeah, all right, and then he starts laughing, and I'm like, all right, kid, I gotta go, you know. So and then the dad was like really, you know, I guess excited that he got to meet him. And so I handed them both Slim Jims. So and then like uh my friends Josh and Jeff said you know about the podcast. So then I start making my way over to RussellCon. I'm walking through the streets of the Las Vegas Boulevard, and I've, you know, oddly enough, you know, in Vegas, if you've never been to Vegas, there's a lot of weirdos out there. We'll just say it, honestly, there's a lot of weird people out there all time of the day. I was probably the weirdest looking one walking at that time. The and it's funny because I'm walking through, I'm walking on the boulevard, and the Paris has like uh like cafes outdoors, like right there, that way you could see the boulevard. So there's these tables are just full of people enjoying breakfast and brunch, and I'm walking over here and I'm hearing people saying, Macho man, oh yeah, you know, doing the whole thing. And I was like, yeah, I was like really owning it. I was like, all right, cool. This I gotta get in the character. So then we we walk into the Horsy hotel, and I was just trying to figure out okay, what's the game plan? What are we doing? Like, because I thought honestly, I thought it was gonna be like a bigger convention hall. I've never been there, so I thought it was gonna be bigger, but I was like, all right, let's just stand here at the entrance. So we stood at the entrance, we had big signs that say it free Slim Gyms, uh you know, you know, and and they're holding them up. People at first were questioning, like, what the fuck is this? But then, like, when some like one or two people started grabbing, then they all started coming. So it was good to go ahead and meet people and say hi, and like people like, oh my god, I'm getting a slim gym from Macho Man, no fucking way. So it, you know, people people were well really receptive to it. Um, I did get rejected from a couple superstars, actually. Because keep in mind, this is the entrance for wrestlers that are in the convention, a part of WrestleCon that don't that are walking through to get to their table to set up their merch or their photo op opportunities, whatever it is. So as I'm right there at the entrance, right? It's the entrance and the exit to WrestleCon, and I'm standing right there, and who do we see first? We see Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, along with MVP walking through, right? And I'm like, hey, what's up, Bobby? I'm like, hey, you know, I'm trying to get their attention, right? And I'm standing off to the side because I'm I the here's the other thing, too. I'm not sanctioned by the hotel, so I'm doing this gorilla style where it's just like I'm just popping up and I'm just trying to get the word out. So I'm trying to lay low as possible because security has walked by a couple times at this point to see what we're doing, and I think that's kind of what the vibe was getting at. So then they walked by, right? And I was like, Hey, what's up, Bobby? And I and I threw up the NWO, and then like he he actually did it back to me, the too sweet. So I was like, Oh, that's so cool, right? And then uh, so we got video of that. Um, and then next up was Scott Steiner, okay, big papa pump. Yeah, here he comes. I was like, Oh, I'm like, hey Scott, you want to slim gym? Right? And he's like, No, and he kept walking by, and then I was like, damn, I'm like, You don't like the macho man? That sucks, man. So and and I was like, Oh shit, why am I talking back to Scott Steiner? I'm like, he can just he can whip my ass in no problem. And then we saw Carry and Cross and or Killer Cross and Scarlet walk in.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, hell yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And he was so cool because he walked by, we're like, hey, Carrie and Cross. And he's like, Macho man. He's like, Oh, yeah, Macho Man ready savage, yeah, and he did his voice all the way past us. Uh, they didn't stop for a slim gym, but it was so cool that he actually acknowledged that I was standing right there. That's awesome. Uh that was really cool. We saw a couple other ones too, honestly. I don't remember, but those were the big three that I was like, okay, this is this is really cool. Hell yeah. So we were there from 11. I'm sorry, from 10 to 11.10. It was 11.10. We had probably given out uh a good portion of our slim gyms. We still had some left. And I looked at my friends and I'm like, hey, I think, I think uh it's what time is it? They're like, Oh, it's 11.10. I'm like, okay, well, cool. I said that we would be wrapped up at 11. Let's start walking back that way. We grab some lunch and then we could relax and then go to WrestleMania. Because keep in mind, WrestleMania started at three o'clock. So we wanted to make sure that we were there early, you know, avoiding whatever we needed to avoid the traffic or any issues like that. So we start packing up our stuff, and then this lady comes up to me. She's like, Hey, I'm so sorry. I hate to be the asshole, but and I'm like, Oh, I'm like, oh, I'm like, hey, don't worry about it. I'm like, we're actually packing up right now, we're leaving. And then she's like, No, no, no, you don't have to leave. She's like, You you actually look great. She's like, the hotel has a policy about giving away free food. And I was like, Oh, yes, that's that makes sense. And the reason why, because some people are probably like, well, why? Because then that means that if I'm handing it out on their property and somebody gets sick for whatever reason or hasn't a reaction to it, they could come back and sue the hotel. So the hotel doesn't want any liability whatsoever behind it. So thus I had to, you know, obviously not hand out any more Slim Jims. So I was like, all right, whatever. But I mean, the the amount of people that took them, and I was like, great. And shout out to Maria, Oscar, and Noah. They stopped by, they found me. Uh, we took some photos, so it was really cool to see them. They're big listeners of our podcast. And I got to meet people across the country. And it's funny because some people thought I was the Macho Verse. If you don't know who the Macho Verse is, he he is somebody actually I've been trying to book on our show. He's a huge macho man Randy Savage fan, and he does cosplay, and he looks, he looks like Macho Man. Oh, no way. Like he had he has great costumes. So shout out to the Macho Verse. It was funny because one individual came up to me and he's like, Macho verse, I've been waiting three years to meet you. I can't believe it's happening. And I'm like, well, I don't want to break his heart, yeah, but I was like, shit, what do I do? I was like, hey, it's so nice to meet you. I was like, oh yeah, you know, did the whole bit. Uh, but I'll tell you this, man, my voice was hurting afterwards. And uh yeah, so big shout out to everybody that stopped by. We ended up uh passing out about 250 Slim Gyms out of 300. So wow, yeah, good job, Chris. Yeah, not too bad, man. So it was a it was a good it was a good time overall at WrestleCon. There it is. Yeah, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Yeah, so that takes us to night number one of WrestleMania 42, right there in Las Vegas, Nevada. So we got there, we got in no problems whatsoever. One thing that was very interesting that happened though, before we actually walked into the venue, my friend Jeff was held by security. He said, like, you can't come in. And and then he was he was like something was going on. Um I already got through through the first turnstile, and our friend Josh had the ticket, so we're I'm waiting for that both of them. So they get stopped because they have bags, and then I see Jeff arguing, and then they're like, You can't come in, you can't come in. And he's like, What? And then, like, so I was like, What the hell is this? So come to find out, he has meta glasses with that that are actual his glasses, so he's got the meta frames. So they told him that he can't come in with the meta frames. So he's like, Well, what am I supposed to do? These are my regular glasses, yeah. And they're all like, We don't know, but you can't come in because you could stream. He's like, Well, I'm well, one, I'm not gonna stream, too. Like, what the hell? So it was a little issue that we ran into and I'm like, dude, so you're telling me you got everybody else with meta glasses? Fuck that. No, you didn't. So I was like, Hey, let's just go down the down down the row over here and take in another security guard. And sure enough, no problem. And then when we got to our seats, there was an individual sitting next to me who had the meta glasses. I'm like, hey, did you have problems getting it? He's like, no. So I was like, what the hell is this?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it was just somebody just trying to do their job. Yeah, shout out to them for trying to do their job. We've been there with multiple jobs that we probably had. I'll I'll give them the battle.

SPEAKER_03

But you're right, you're right. I will give them the battle.

SPEAKER_02

But that's just that's just that's stupid.

SPEAKER_03

It was stupid. I was like, really? We're just trying to get to our fucking seats. Come on now. So let's go ahead and talk about WrestleMania night number one. We'll run through the card. You know, I gotta get my old school WrestleMania music here. WrestleMania is uh, I believe this was uh one through or no uh three? Is this three through nine? So whatever you tell me, I'm gonna believe. So I'm pretty sure it was three through nine. Okay, all right. Well, we opened up, you know, night number one in Las Vegas with the six-man tag. Oh, actually, no, wait, was it six-man tag? I don't even remember now. Um or was it Drew McIntyre? Six-man tag. No, it was a six-man tag. Yes. Right? Yep. Okay. Sorry everybody, in case I might I forget. You know, I mean, I was there, yes, I was there.

SPEAKER_02

It was a blur, honestly, two nights of it. Blur.

SPEAKER_03

All right, six-man tag. It was uh the Usos, LA Knight taking on the vision in I Show Speed. We saw I Show Speed uh actually deliver some unique maneuvers and even kind of got turned on by Logan Paul, and he actually frog splashed him from the out from the top of the rope to the outside table.

SPEAKER_02

Incredible.

SPEAKER_03

Uh, your thoughts on that match?

SPEAKER_02

It was actually more entertaining than I thought it was gonna be. I thought it was gonna be one of those wash kind of a matches. Um overall, I think the ending of it really showing that iShow speed can do what superstars do. Yeah. Um so it was nice to see it on that end. We see a lot of celebrities kind of come in, and you know, Logan Paul is one of them that can just come in and not be great. Jelly roll. Um, but that's just me jumping up on top of that uh of that you know, whatever that that cornered. That post outside yep, the post exactly, and frog splashing off the top onto the table. Kudos to you.

SPEAKER_03

We do have video of that too, as well as my angle from that on our TikTok at Towers of Power Pod. Uh, then we jump into Jekify 2 versus Drew McIntyre, the non-sanctioned match. The non-sanctioned sanctioned match. Yes, exactly. That's like, okay, cool. Well, that's interesting. Uh, your thoughts on that match?

SPEAKER_02

It wasn't great, man. I mean, for an unsanctioned, non-sanctioned match. Um I was expect I was expecting blood everywhere. I was expecting more weapons, more more of a hardcore match, and it just felt like a normal, unfortunately, a normal match.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, with maybe one or two uh items and that was it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, you saw like the toolbox and Drew's freaking out the toolbox having his PS PTSD moment from uh him and Punk. Yeah, um but yeah, actually did yeah from that Hell in a Cell match when Punk brought out the toolbox, and that's when all the blood started flowing. I'm like, oh hell yeah, we're gonna get something here. It just didn't do much. I'm glad I'm happy with the outcome. I'm glad they put Jacob over uh, but yeah, it's the match. Meh.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Uh then we kicked off WrestleMania officially, uh a PLE event. We're talking about the women's tag team championship, the fatal four-way match. We saw uh Bailey and uh I always forget her name. Lyra, thank you.

SPEAKER_02

Lyra Valkyria.

SPEAKER_03

See, I always mess up that name. That's how I'm like, ah all right, uh against Charlotte and Alexa Bliss. Taking on the Bellas. However, the big surprise of the night was the returning page because uh Nikki still has her injury. Apparently, she had surgery.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know, it's like a week before she posted pictures of stitches and screws, and I don't think I even realized how bad it actually was. So I thought the I thought the crutch was fake, I thought everything was fake. Um, but they were just kind of holding her back because of something else. But I mean, it's super exciting to see um to see Paige back in WWE. Yes. I had seen something earlier, I think that day that there was a rumor. I'm like, here comes all the rumors. It's oh yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I think I was the one who was uh posting stuff too, like rumors. Oh, you were you were muted by a Friday.

SPEAKER_02

Oh good, okay. All right, good. Sorry, you're now unmuted. Oh, thanks. Powers of power and and and your IG. Oh good, oh good. Yeah, everything, everything was.

SPEAKER_03

You know, the funny thing is about that is like, yeah, so many leaks happened about Paige, about how she would be the one filling that role. And I was like, there's I'm like, I I could kind of see it. And it's funny because the guy next to me, he was actually from uh Paris, and he flew from Paris just to be his first WrestleMania. He's like, Oh, Paige is coming out, Paige. I'm like, really? You think so? He's like, Yeah, and then all of a sudden the music hit. Yeah, I wish I had it. I don't have the music, I just have this WrestleMania one player.

SPEAKER_02

It was cool, it was nostalgic, it was cool. Um thoughts on the match, man. Yeah. Uh I'm not I don't think, and I don't I don't think I'm a big fan of them winning. Um, that being Paige and Bree.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_02

Um it's just another one of those you're kind of taking these moments away from superstars who have been there and have put in the work, and Paige comes back, and you obviously just throw a title right on her. So I wasn't happy about that. Um, I think you know, Naya and Lash, they were my pick to win. Um, but you could see, I think there's pictures or videos posted of just how Bailey just looked upset about something. So yeah, whether or not she knew about Paige coming back or Paige winning or not, um, I think that hit home. So we'll see if this evolves into anything else uh going forward.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and the thing was too, I I had said that the Bells were gonna win because that was the rumor that they were gonna go ahead and win from the jump, really, from recoming back.

SPEAKER_02

And that came out as well. It was scheduled that the bells were gonna win, so they just stayed on script.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and and now, and it's funny because people were like, Man, so what's gonna happen? I'm like, Well, what's gonna happen is Nikki's gonna rehab, she's gonna get jealous, she's gonna do something to Paige, or something's gonna happen. It's like I've seen this episode before, and it's gonna be like the same thing. It's gonna be the same thing with remember with Bianca Bel Air and Naomi with Jade. That's not I think that's exactly the same. That we're gonna get just in a couple months when Nikki's actually clear to rush.

SPEAKER_02

But I think I think seeds are already planted because in the post show, I don't know if you guys made it out to the post show. Um I believe Bree, Paige, and Nikki were all in the post show, and they were saying, There's no one else I'd rather have won this title with than you, Paige. Nikki's just like you know, I think yeah, one of those things, but they can easily start to spin that into a story. Oh, easily.

SPEAKER_03

We'll see. We'll see. And big shout out to uh to Nia Jax and Lash because they were dressed up like demolition, axe and smash. They had gotten to the Hall of Fame uh uh that night before, and it was so cool just to go ahead and see them in their outfits, their entrance gear. Uh so big shout out to them. Hell yeah. So then we jump into, I believe it was uh was it AJ and Becky? Or was it yeah? So let's just jump into that one anyway. Sure.

SPEAKER_02

AJ Becky, yep, let's do it.

SPEAKER_03

The entrance for AJ, I thought was so cool. She brought up a bunch of like little girls dressed up like her, you know, and they're all were skipping. And then so it's almost uh it reminds me of like Cena when Cena brought out all the look-alikes. So I thought that was actually really cool.

SPEAKER_02

Like she actually were her nieces, I think she came out to say.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, really? I didn't know that. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I think the couple of the ones at very at the very end, you saw one of them. I think she was probably three or four. She kind of came out and she ran right to the back. I don't know if you guys no, we didn't see that. Yeah, run it back. Um, there's a bunch of kids that came out. I think those were her nieces at the end. I think one got spooked and ran Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Uh she took on Becky Lynch for the Women's Intercontinental Championship. I thought that match was great. Uh there is something I will say about all the matches in in just a minute, and I know you you know exactly what I'm gonna talk about. I think so. So uh that match I thought was good. Becky Lynch was definitely better, better than I thought.

SPEAKER_02

Becky's entrance.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. It was and it's funny because it's come out that um well who are they, the Wonder Ears, right? Yeah, yep. That uh that they were lip singing.

SPEAKER_02

Did you see that video? Oh man, I I saw it live well later on in the night. Yeah, so bad.

SPEAKER_03

So where where I was sitting, I couldn't tell if they were lip sync or not because I was like way up on top. But you know, what we could see is like, oh, okay, that's you know, they're performing live or what we thought was live, but then the video shows like the the lead singer was away from the microphone when it started going, and then he jumped on the mic. He's like, oh, I was like, okay, Ashley Simpson. Yep. As soon as that happened, I'm like, oh, Jesus Christ.

SPEAKER_02

But we've seen these live performances before. And so as soon as the music track hit, I'm like, okay, this isn't even yeah, it's not live. Like, I'm looking, I don't see any like cables or anything like that. I'm like, this is this is Malarkey. This is baloney.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, it is baloney. Speaking of baloney, Seth Rollins taking on Gunther, the ring general. I don't know. I was just trying to make the correlation between the two. Uh well, I mean, like Gunther's body looks like baloney. How about that? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, so no, we're not body shaming anybody here or anybody. I'm just saying. Uh, your thoughts on that match right there.

SPEAKER_02

Um honestly, I'm not I'm right now actually trying to remember that match as a whole. Um, I mean, I think it was somewhat entertaining. It didn't really do too much for me. I think again, it just felt like a very it felt like a match that was thrown together last minute, which exactly was.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, it was. Um, okay, and I was hoping for a run-in.

SPEAKER_02

I was hoping for something to happen.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I mean, we did see the return of Bron Breaker.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, towards the end. Yeah. So, oh yeah, that was that match. See?

SPEAKER_03

That was him. Yeah, running down the in the black hood. In the black hood, and yeah, exactly. And the black pants.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I was no, I I think I was expecting something more like with Heyman coming down or just being involved in that way. But yes, of course, Breaker came in at the end, and that's gonna obviously lead us to uh the next couple of weeks or months or pay-per-view. Exactly.

SPEAKER_03

The women's championship was defended by Stephanie Vicare against Liv Morgan, and with Liv performing her new song right there live in front of everybody. It was double trouble, trouble, trouble, trouble, yeah, trouble, travel, trouble.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's all you got.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that's all you got?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, that's all I know.

SPEAKER_03

I will tell you this. It is it is catchy when you listen to it a couple times. Oh, okay, cool. Yeah, I get this. I like it. You need a ringtone. We were listening to it on the way back. So yeah, driving back from Vegas to LA, we were listening to it.

SPEAKER_01

Trouble, travel, beep, beep, beep, beep.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, exactly like that. Uh, your thoughts on this match with Liv winning the championship at WrestleMania.

SPEAKER_02

I'm glad Liv won. Um Stephanie Becker has done a great job as champion. I know she's been injured here and there. Um, Liv had to have won. There was no way around her losing. And if she did, I think there's gonna be more of an uproar than there already has been about WrestleMania. So kudos to uh Liv Morgan uh getting her getting her title back.

SPEAKER_03

And then we saw the main event, Cody Rhodes taking on Randy Orton for the WWE United, oh undisputed championship. Yeah, I was like, I was going back in time. Yeah, they're talking fighting for the US championship. It's that music you're playing in the back. Exactly. That's why. Um with Pat McAfee in the corner of Randy Orton.

SPEAKER_02

All right, so let's break it down, Gary. Yep. So the match. Um, not gonna lie, I started night two at I think 10:30, almost 10.40 p.m. Um I had to work earlier that night. Um, so this is about one o'clock in the morning that I think the Cody match started, and I'm already a little tired. Kind of zoning in and out. So um, yeah, watch the beginning of it. Uh obviously watched the whole thing, but it just again, it didn't do anything for me. It felt like a match that could easily have just been on SmackDown. Yeah, exactly. Unfortunately, or one of your lower low lower level PLEs.

SPEAKER_03

Put a clash, clash of the castle or whatever.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, it just again, it just didn't do what I was hoping it was going to do. Um, of course, McAfee was there, he came out early, he was taken out early, we didn't see him again. So kudos to that because I would have hated just for the whole match of just him jumping up on the ropes, distracting Cody. Something happened, just going back and forth the entire time. So I'm glad they kind of took him out for a while. Of course, things happen. McAfee comes in with the neck brace that he's still wearing, I believe. Yeah, he was still wearing it earlier this week on his own podcast and his own show. Um, and the referee, and you know, he went down and Cody uh Randy thought he had him, and he goes, one, two, and then he stopped. Like, I mean, Cody kicked out, so he stopped, and Randy's like, What the fuck? Like, what are we doing here? And then all hell broke loose, clearly like that. I still kind of wish Orton won in a way.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I agree.

SPEAKER_02

But that's their way of now getting um McAfee out of WWE. He's come out, said it multiple times. He goes, That it's passed. I'm done. I've you know, he's got college football coming up in about a couple of months. Um, he's got his pod, he has a lot of things which you already know, and how burnt out he got at WWE. So seeing this him come in for a little bit per TKO, perfect. We'll send him sure we'll see him down the road, even though he's done. Um, but no, I still wish Orton won. Um, I think we're setting up for uh basically the rematch at Backlash or SummerSlam or who the hell knows. But yeah, Orton, Orton should have won. But Cody got the shit kicked out of him literally. And I did not see that till the next morning.

SPEAKER_03

I was like, his eye was so yeah, I mean his eye was swollen shut.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and I heard it was not from the punt, it was from a punch like a little bit before that, and over time it swelled. The the kick happened, and the match ended, yeah. Yep, so I think if you go back and watch, I think one punch actually gets him like right obviously in the orbital bone. Yeah, um, and then you can slowly start to see it swell up, but you really don't see it till after the punt, after the match, he sits up, and I'm like, oh it was nasty, it was nasty.

SPEAKER_03

It looked like I'm like, and it's scary too, because like you never know with those eye uh eye blows, because uh it could uh honestly made him blind, but we don't even know the extent of what happened. Uh one thing speaking about Orton was that I heard that it was determined at SmackDown that he was not going to win. And uh the reason why was because whatever injury, because remember, Orton was injured going into WrestleMania, so whatever injury that that he sustained is the reason why they did not go with him going over. Yeah, which I think is ridiculous. But then you have Cody Rose now that's hurt, so and we don't know the length of his time out because he definitely will have timeout because of that. So um, I think McAfee, thank God he's gone. But here's the thing it's like you wasted so much time in putting into this storyline with McAfee, and all of a sudden he's gone. So it's like, why did you even do it? Like, why did what was the purpose of that?

SPEAKER_00

There's no reason behind that to get tickets and to get people to buy tickets to WrestleMania.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'll tell you this, those tickets really didn't move once he said, I have a coupon code for you, 25% off. Like, what the hell is that? A coupon code, okay? So when you say that, like the you have to think about it, okay. Yeah, you think the coupon code, what eight days before WrestleMania is gonna move tickets? You think eight days you're gonna go ahead and go, Oh, you know what? I'm gonna I'm gonna go ahead and use that 25% coupon and then go go spend money on hotel, airfare, or travel, gas, whatever the case may be. You think that's smart, TKO? Not the smartest idea. And it's like if you're gonna do a groupon, then do a group on. Okay, don't be using Pat and Magavee over here. 25%.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it sucks for those that have bought that bought tickets so many months in advance for double, if not triple. And now there's like so honestly, I feel like now next year. Oh, if it's not in Saudi, if it's in the States next year, I thoroughly believe they're gonna have shit sales until probably like the month of. Oh, yeah. I think everyone's now gonna wait for the discount.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I mean I would.

SPEAKER_02

There's no rush, they fuck themselves.

SPEAKER_03

And that's the thing, too. It's like it's funny, they come out and they say, like, oh, tonight's attendance is like 50,000. And it's like, I was there, and I will tell you this there was not 50,000 people there. There was parts of that arena that were blacked and tarped off that weren't shown on TV. And I remember because I would I sat pretty much in the same section or maybe one section over from last year, and right right where I was, and it's like pretty much the same exact thing, almost like the same exact seat that I had. And I remember looking last year, I'm like, man, this place was boom, like it was like sold out, sold out. And this year, not so much.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you can just tell that it was just uh let's whip it together. I think I think the stadium blamed it on a couple concerts that came forward. Well, Bruno, Bruno was there, Bruno Mars, uh, a country artist as well, and they only had what eight days to set up, and that's why you know you see behind you, it's it's the um it's just more screens. Like yeah, I was very thing with screens, and I I I mean they did what they could do with it. I liked how they and uh we're gonna get into night two, but you can see the on the start of night two, they had the whole color different scene of. I actually think he did a pretty good job as a host, he's very hokey pokey as it is, um, so it worked well. Um, but yeah, they did what they could do. They updated the screen, the colors, the schemes, and all of that stuff. But again, it's not what it used to be, these elaborate, really cool sets that everyone always looks forward to, and now it's like, cool, a couple towers. Oh, look, more screens. It didn't do much.

SPEAKER_03

And the other thing, too, that I was very surprised about was last year they had that huge entrance, and there were seats on top of that entrance. That was those seats, like you know, to be a part of the stage. This year they advertised like, hey, you could actually buy those tickets because last year they kind of I think they used them for people that were in obstructed views, so they moved some people from the like different parts of the arena into those seats to kind of make good for them. But this year they sold those tickets and they really they really weren't on the stage. They were like it was like feathered out, it was like winged out. So it's not like you know, it's like it's going, and then all of a sudden it goes from narrow to wide, and right where it gets Y, that's where they put extra rows.

SPEAKER_02

So it's like it's almost like you have the party deck, it was a party deck with seats, is what it looked like on TV.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and I I was like, man, that kind of sucks. I would have been mad because it was like six hundred dollars a night for one chair or for one seat, and I'm just like, ugh. But um and then uh Bianca Belair, too, we gotta talk about that. She came out and she told the the crowd that she's uh expecting, and her and Montez Ford are expecting a baby.

SPEAKER_02

So that was kind of I did kept looking like towards her fingers because that's what you were telling me. Yes, she still had it taped up. She did. Um, but she came out and I'm just like, what did you think? Oh, I thought she was pregnant. The second she came out. Really? Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I I told my friends, I'm like, she's gonna now she's retiring.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, a lot of people, yeah. A lot of people thought that too, but like I'm looking at her, and I mean, she's not big. Yeah, I'll start with that. She's not big, but she had like that look like on her face, the way that she had the robe. She's glowing. Yeah, and I think how the robe was clipped. You can kind of tell there was a little bump there. And I'm just kind of like looking, I'm like, she's pregnant. I think she's pregnant, and she came out and she's talking, and I'm just like, oh yeah, like you could tell in her face and in her tone, like this was not a retirement announcement at all. I do wish Montez Ford came out. I know, me too. I'm like, what the fuck? Where the hell are these people? We haven't seen them in six months. Well, don't worry, we'll get to him in a little bit too.

SPEAKER_03

Wink wink. Six months, yeah. Yes. Oh yeah. Uh six months, huh? Yes, that's right. All right, let's go ahead and talk about Way Chu Send me, Gary. Now, this is uh this is kind of interesting, and I honestly didn't feel this. Okay, uh, this is from uh this is from X. Okay, here we go. You got a name? Yes, Rhodes uh Dakota era, I think that's how you say it. Okay, OTA era? Dakota, yeah. All right, so at Rhodes Dakota era on X. Okay. Uh here's a stat that's mind blowing, really, if you think about it. In ring wrestling time for night number one of WrestleMania, one hour and twenty-six minutes across seven matches. Now hear this ad time for WrestleMania night number one, approximately one hour and fourteen minutes of ads. That's 12 minutes less ads than wrestling. And he writes, uh, are they right? TKO, you are genuinely ruining everything. Hashtag WrestleMania. You know, when you're there in the audience, you don't really feel it. I didn't feel like it was that much uh as far as the ads go. What I kind of felt were the entrances were so damn long. And a couple times, uh, I'll tell you at night number two, we we did a stopwatch to see how long the entrances were compared to the match. And I I will tell you, it is some of the entrances were longer than the match. I believe it. Yeah, and it was very disappointing. And so it's funny because somebody asked me, and you and myself and our friend Sarge, or your friend Sarge, who now is my friend, uh, we were on a group chat and we kind of rated night number one. And what was your rating?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I don't remember. 2.7.

SPEAKER_03

Was it 2.7? I think I think you did go low, but I gave it I gave it a four uh just because I felt like there was not enough wrestling that I did feel like the matches were rushed.

SPEAKER_02

It felt like a just a blank, a random pay-per-view. It did not feel like WrestleMania.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and that's the thing too. It's like, come on, like, really? Let's see. Okay, you gave it a 2.7 for night number one. I gave it a four. Sarge gave it a seven out of ten. And I'm like, what I love Sarge, I love him, I love his personality. WrestleMania are you at?

SPEAKER_02

He is the most happy go-lucky person you'll ever meet, and he'll he will not give anything a bad score. I'm telling you right now.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, he actually had a cool WrestleMania weekend because he did the photo ops with uh Kane and The Undertaker. He got a photo op with John Cena.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he gave him the New England Revolution jersey, which was awesome because Sarge is actually the PA announcer for both the Patriots and uh the Revolution uh MLM soccer team. So yeah, made a custom jersey for Cena, which was cool. It said never seen and then 17 and then Cena 17. So shout out to you, Sarge. Well done. Here's a Sarge Sarge Salute. Yeah, Sarge Salute, you were known for. There he is.

SPEAKER_03

There he is, Sarge.

SPEAKER_02

Um, but yeah, those numbers just are just are baffling, yeah, absolutely baffling. For and I was gonna ask you, I was like, so what was it like there? So again, uh roommate Zach, he watched live, yeah, and he said it became unbearable. He's got like five to six minutes of ads between matches, plus then videos that WWE's putting out, and then we're getting into um the entrances and then the match.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

When I started late, and obviously it's the replay. I'm getting, I think it was like maybe a minute, 45 seconds to a minute of ads, and that was it. So I'm like, okay, this is actually pretty good. I've got through WrestleMania about three out three and three and a half hours, I think it was. Yeah. But man, we'll talk night two, but night two, I'm just like, holy shit, like this is what you're talking about. So we like you were just saying, we found ourselves. I'm like, all right, bell the bell, but start with start timing the stuff. And I think I I forget if I sent you the stats for night two as well or not, but it was just it was just as bad. I think one of the things I saw was just like the rundown of the actual match times where I think the latter match um was the longest at 15 minutes.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I think it was like oh, was it 13? 15, 15, maybe, maybe it was 15.

SPEAKER_02

But we missed sorry, we'll we'll get into night two, but we'll you know.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, overall night one I was I was not impressed with. Um, I just felt like exactly what you said. It was rushed, thrown together, and in hopes of it didn't feel like a WrestleMania. Correct. And it felt like um in your house, you know. Yep.

SPEAKER_02

I am happy, and I'll say this that we got Jelly Roll out of the way. It was one quick spot, did his thing. Pat McAfee came out minimally, did his thing. I show speed, probably got the most time out there, but he actually showed up and shelled out.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, very important.

SPEAKER_02

And he also training too. Yes, and those videos were incredible. So I I will give him credit again. He's a YouTuber, I'm not too familiar with. I only honestly know him just because of WWE. Huge streamer, huge.

SPEAKER_03

So in case you don't know who he is, uh look him up. Uh big shout out to uh let's see, who is this right here? Hold on. Like I have to I have to do a shout out. Yes. Um, let's see. We are talking about your friend who Dustin, who got something done for us, which was amazing. Gary, tell everybody what he did.

SPEAKER_02

Hell yeah. So my buddy Dustin, unbeknownst to me, he uh he printed out a couple of little pieces of paper, uh you know, printer size paper with our logo on it, and it said uh follow-I think it just said what follow towers of power towers of power pod. Um so awesome. Thank you so much, Dustin, for that. But he actually was sitting night one, he was sitting one row behind the infamous green shirt guy. Yes. So, which was awesome. So I guess before the show started, Dustin went up to him, talked to him for a little bit, got a picture with him, but then he also, Green Shirt Guy was so nice enough to hold up our sign with the ring behind him. So, shout out to you, thank you so much. Yeah for that. Let's get some follows. Maybe again, you shouted at him out as well, post him on social. Hopefully, we'll get him on the show. Um, let's get to know his background, let's get the real story out of who Green Shirt Guy is. Um, but thank you for taking some time out of your probably crazy busy pre-show. Yeah, just to take a couple photos for us.

SPEAKER_03

Like, I'm looking at it right now on our Instagram at Towers of PowerPod. You can look it up. Uh, just amazing. I was just like, that's green shirt guy. In case you don't know Green Shirt Guy, he is a super fan that attends every single live event right there in the front row, usually the same seat, give or take, maybe one seat or two seats off. But he is right there, dead center, always wearing a neon fluorescent green shirt with a happy face on it. So it was so cool to actually see. I like it's funny, Gary sent that to me on text. I was like, wait, what the hell is that? I'm like, and I had to zoom in, okay, because I wanted to make sure that number one, it was not AI.

SPEAKER_02

That's what I asked Dustin first. I'm like, what the hell is it? AI? He goes, No, I mean, I printed a couple and wanted to hand them out and stuff like that. I'm like, dude, that's awesome. So yeah, it is not AI. I think I even meant to say that to you, but yeah, no, well, yeah, you you gave me nothing.

SPEAKER_03

I just saw, and then you sent me a picture of Dustin with Green Shirt Guy, and like I looked, yeah, dude. I'm looking at it right now. I mean, you even zoomed in on the photo, and you yes, you do see the crease like right where he creased the paper. Yep, and I'm like, wait, that's the logo. Wait, the logo's like half and half. There's no way that that could have been AI'd like like that. So uh, but green green shirt guy uh reposted it at Superfan Smiles with a Z. He reposted it. So uh thank you once again for that. All right, now we gotta get into night number two of WrestleMania live from Las Vegas. That means, yes, the music is back, all right? Night number two kicked off in a big way. Oba Femi taking on Brock Lesnar. And oh my gosh, the crowd was so excited for night number two. I will tell you this because for for the fans and what myself as well, it felt like WrestleMania now. Because it felt like, okay, cool, we got the bullshit out of the way. Uh, I'm sorry to say, but now it's time because this match of Brock Lesnar versus Oba Femi had been, you know, just built up so much. So this for me, and I think a lot of other people were ready to go ahead and see this. These two behemoths go squared right there, toe-to-toe. And I will tell you this, once Oba's music hit and he started doing the March, you you see everybody in the crowd just doing the Oba March. Yes. And then uh when Brock's music hit, there's nothing more iconic than Brock Lesnar's music. You know, love him or hate him, that music, when it hits, it's something else. Like everybody knows, oh shit, something's about to happen. So when these two got in the ring and they squared off, it went back and forth. Uh, this match only lasted about four minutes. I don't know if you thought that.

SPEAKER_02

I honestly, I thought it was gonna be more I thought it was gonna be closer to six minutes. I knew it wasn't gonna go ten. I knew it was gonna be just two behemoths just going after, but it was the perfect match to kick off night two live on. PL you know live on whatever it is on ESPN but also on ESPN yeah the night two I believe is on ESPN and that was the perfect perfect match to start and try to grab some people that may not have watched WWE in however long that just know Brock Lesnar.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah so Brock um tried taking it to Oba but Omar ended up winning and then yeah Omar Omar won the match and it's funny I think you can now put some respect on Oba's name right now and we can bury Omar. I think I think our fans and our listeners like uh hearing about Omar. So okay in case you don't know the running joke behind this I had to tell my friends too was um I didn't know how to pronounce Oba Femi's name and I forgot his name and I was telling Gary I'm like hey what's that guy's name from NXT Omar Omar uh something and he's like Oba Femi I'm like oh that's his name Oba I'm like nah I'm pretty sure it's Omar guys so Omar so that so from that point forward I would call Oba Omar and I said his brother his twin brother identical twin uh Omar and Oba so yes Oba Femi was victorious and thus retiring Brock Lesnar right there in the middle of the ring everybody was shocked I don't think you know it came out that Triple H had says that he had no idea that that was gonna happen. Whether that's true or not us fans were all in shock like screaming like what like you didn't expect something so monumental to happen right in front of you with no warning whatsoever. You know we knew about Cena we knew about AJ Styles uh you know um to the point even some degree you knew about Ric Flair I was there when Rick Flair retired I was there when Shawn Michaels retired so it's like now I'm seeing Brock Lesnar retire and I'm like this is just crazy. And and um yeah the crowd the crowd really gave him a standing O, you know, chanting thank you Brock thank you Brock. Is this the last time we're seeing Brock Lesnar?

SPEAKER_02

I think so um I think I saw some I don't know if they're rumors or whatever the hell you want to call them but um rumor is he got wind of Gunther you know the plan is to have Gunther retire him at SummerSlam and he was basically now nope fuck that I'm out I want Oba he handpicked Oba um to fight at WrestleMania um put him over I think he knew he was gonna lose and he's like nah fuck that I'm not coming back to get swashed to lose to Gunther fuck that I'm going out out on my own terms so kudos to Brock Lesnar for doing that I mean he sat in the ring I'm like oh fuck something's about to happen so I didn't know if at that point Gunther was gonna come down and we were gonna get something um and then as soon as he reaches for the glove I'm like oh he's done yeah done and I will tell you this I knew something was gonna happen from the beginning of the match and I will tell you this the reason why I knew how does Brock Lesnar's entrance go Gary do you know how his entrance goes he comes out he does his little his little dance right back and forth and then what does he do?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah he does that and then when he gets to the ring what does he do I don't know he jumps you know how he jumps from the floor up to the ring apron yeah this was the first time since he's been on the main roster that he used the stairs interesting and I noticed that right away I'm like why is he going up the stairs? I did not pick up on he went up the stairs and then he jumped then he then he went in the middle rope and went into the ring. Yeah and I was like that's odd because he jumps from the floor right that on the big nights okay I'm like he jumps from the floor to the ring apron and and then the fireworks go off. And the moment I saw that I'm like something's happening something's going on and I'm like whether whether it is that he had to take it all in one last time and ultimately that's what it was but I hadn't seen him do that since his days of doing dark matches with uh the Minnesota wrecking crew him and uh Shelton Benjamin so that's why I was like wow okay and even then he was still doing the jump you know so that's why I was like that's really weird.

SPEAKER_02

What did you think of him putting up the X when everything was going down because I thought we off for a quick second of my me too is he hurt that's what I think that's how I associate the X with I thought he was hurt and I thought he was like it's like I'm hurt like I get I can't go anymore.

SPEAKER_03

That's what I thought.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Um but they're saying that like he threw up the X to say like hey this is not part of the storyline.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah so I don't I I don't know but I thought it was I thought it was a great match though nonetheless I mean it was it was kind of what the people wanted keep going next next match I was like this is great great start um sucks to see Brock go but I'm glad that um he did it on his own terms. Yes and then we jump into the Intercontinental Championship ladder match uh Dragon Lee Javon Evans Penta Rey Mysteria Rusev and JD all right there we only saw so sorry we only saw three entrances so this is what I wanted to say oh what did you see earlier we saw the the the last three we saw penta we saw rey um and um javon evans so we had ads we had ads right after the whole Brock thing for about five and a half minutes um and came back and almost like Dragon Lee's already in there wait jd hold on rusev JD and Dragon Lee are already in the ring or outside of the ring just walking around so we missed all of that and we came back and I think it was uh Rey Mysterio that came out first of those three those final wow so Dragon Lee's entrance is actually really cool if you've never seen it I feel like they don't show it enough when it comes time for these big matches he wears those those wings oh yeah Dragon Lewis wings and so it was so cool because they fully expanded right there on the stage of WrestleMania and I'm like man that's really cool and then like you know they they kind of like collapse back as he gets closer to the ring. It'd be cool if all the people that are paying for uh you know the streaming device uh to watch these PLEs you know could actually see their stuff but yeah uh you know Rusev I felt like Rusev you didn't miss much I felt like people were really didn't even care about Rusev. Yep um but you see why he was you you can tell why him and JD were in the match as we go through the match.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah of course they were they were like the uh the strong horses huh yeah jobbers but horses but yeah yeah for sure your thoughts on this match I thought this match was exciting from Bell to Bell uh I mean we saw some stuff that we hadn't seen that array you know Ray hit the 619 with a ladder right in front of JD I thought for sure I'm like oh there goes Ray he's hurt and he's gonna be gone for another eight months but uh your thoughts on the match overall I honestly thought it was if it not if it wasn't the match of the night it was damn close to it yes right they it that game match was a lot better um than I anticipated the right people were in there and I know that you and I go back a couple episodes and we talked about why isn't this person in there?

SPEAKER_02

Why isn't LA Knight in there? What are we doing here? Why these people it made sense as you watched you had your high flyers of Javon and Dragon Lee and and and Ray doing these crazy things but then you had JD who will basically do anything. Yeah that man will do anything um and get over Penta's obviously going to be in there and be great rusev is just that brute asshole that's gonna come in and I mean asshole in a in a in a great way in a loving way you're just gonna come in you're just gonna beat out of people yeah and that's why he was in that match he's that strong guy that's pushing over ladders and pushing over people and taking people out. So in a way it ended up all making sense I'm happy with the finish um I know some people wanted to see Ray Mysterio win it um I think there's more coming to him from closer to probably SummerSlam.

SPEAKER_03

But yeah I mean I'm very happy with the match it was exciting we saw the ladders getting crushed um people getting crushed in ladders as well it was the way that it should have gone so another another perfect match to highlight on ESPN and then we saw the match that a lot of people were into we're talking about the United States champion Sammy Zayn taking on Trick Williams um yes I thought that was you know what's funny is I expected more from the crowd when Trick's song came out I don't know why and I felt like it just did not deliver for me I was a little disappointed like really like nobody's really into this and it sounded good on TV didn't oh man like I was excited honestly I was more excited to hear that song live and and just kind of get the get the vibe of it how funny is that right um but I thought that I do I still do love um what they're doing or what they did with little Yachty.

SPEAKER_02

He's not doing too much he's not getting involved he got a little bit involved yeah he did get involved a little bit but he's you but they're using him more as the hype man yeah which I think is perfect because that's remember Trick Williams was Carmelo Hayes's hype man that's right for the first year or so in NXT so now see that he has his own hype man they're doing it right with with this celebrity.

SPEAKER_03

And uh we saw Trick become the new United States champion with Sami Zayn in the very short match unfortunately I thought like it definitely could have been a little bit longer. Yeah um these entrances were pretty much about the same length as the whole entire match.

SPEAKER_02

Yep so it's all about the entrances nowadays no one no one cares about anything else besides up to the ring with the music.

SPEAKER_03

So then with a CVS receipt coming out of his oh yeah right yeah I didn't I think that was unnecessary I I told everybody around me I'm like who's he getting married to because it looks like you know the veil you know with a long train right there for a wedding dress. You know one entrance that really I think kind of stole it from me was Dirty Dominic Mysterio coming to the ring with all the luchadors that had his mask on and those were actually local luchadors that I found out um from an organization right there in Vegas and that he knew and um him coming out on that throne I was like oh this is that's the king right there he's the he's the the greatest Mysterio of all time right there taking on the demon Finn Balor who had an amazing entrance as well I mean that entrance you can never really like say anything negative about that. And the crowd really loved that and your thoughts on that match between those two seeing the return of the demon after three years.

SPEAKER_02

It was great it was I thought it was a really good match. Um what I really was again first time seeing the demon Finn in three years like you just said it's it felt a little cartoonish to me. I don't know why I think he was just overacting but again it's because I think we're just so used to seeing this judgment day Finn Balor that we've seen for a couple of years. So maybe I wasn't prepared for this demon again at the same time I think when you were watching this and I was going to ask you a lot of these matches or these entrances that we'd love to see when it's like pitch black it's still sunny out it's still bright out so you're you're not getting that full ambiance and I think that was some of these camera angles that we were seeing it's like it's still bright but you're trying to be dark it did nothing mixed for me but back to the match great match um Finn Balor obviously taking out Dominic Mysterio um glad that that that was the outcome of that um but yeah it was it was great to see the demon I hope we don't get him again for a while I hope this becomes something that we get every couple of years not every couple of months or PLEs he's got to be special.

SPEAKER_03

I think that's what it is.

SPEAKER_02

Yes and now we see with with um Finn is now back to Finn.

SPEAKER_03

He's got the shorter beard he got the haircut so we'll see then we saw the WWE women's champion Jade versus Rhea Ripley I unfortunately missed this match popcorn match this was my popcorn match because there I I really wanted to see everything else and I knew the outcome of this one uh and plus I needed to go to the bathroom that's really what it was is this was my bathroom match and dude the lines there at Allegiance Stadium were crazy for the bathroom so so much I was on one side of the arena I had to go towards like I was like uh so picture like the ramp I was like directly almost like across from the ramp you know kind of off to the side so I had to walk from there all the way behind to where the ramp was because there's nobody there and there was open bathrooms. So it's like I was like screw this I gotta I gotta walk so I ended up walking and by the time I got back I just saw the very end of the Rhea and Jade match where um Jade had her up for her um move what's her move the one where she holds her up in front of her and I can't I don't remember the name of it.

SPEAKER_02

I forget what it's called but like uh then that's when Rhea kind of slipped out and did the riptide yeah so uh I thought that was a great finish I think the finish was fantastic I think yeah I think it looked smooth and and you know we saw the return of EO Sky right there at WrestleMania she came down you knew that was gonna happen you couldn't have a WrestleMania without seeing her at all yeah which I thought was still weird yeah so overall but you had to get her in there somehow your thoughts on that match that was great I think the outcome was what it was and I think it had to be I don't think Jade I'm surprised Jade was still champion going into WrestleMania but glad that Rhea won. And now unfortunately we have to see Rhea leave Raw and she's gonna be now on exclusively on Smackdown and we'll get into that after our WrestleMania review.

SPEAKER_03

And then the last match the world heavyweight championship was on the line CM Punk taking on Roman Reigns your tribal chief and yes acknowledge him yeah tribal chief oh okay oh yeah yeah yeah put your paw up hey Rocky put your paw up oh yeah yeah he's asleep uh your thoughts on this match great match great match probably one of the better WrestleMania main event matches I know we're talking WrestleMania Gary's talking to his dog right now not his imaginary friend not Omar yeah are you talking to Omar Femi back there? Omar Omar coming to the mic no okay hey what's up come here um no again probably one of the better main event main event matches for WrestleMania we've seen in a long long long time without a doubt and I think I think having Roman go over punk was the right call oh and thousand percent and uh bringing uh you know that title back and it's funny because after the post show or after uh WrestleMania onto the post show Roman said that he is not gonna be part-time that he will be there and which is great but for how long though that's what my question is he he he basically told you I'm here all summer I'm all summer yes once summer slam's over I'm out back on vacation so that's I was like damn really we're only gonna get him that long but I'm you know I think we'll take it at this point right I'm excited to see now where this new storyline goes yeah me too but match of the night or match of the entire weekend what what's what's your match of the entire WrestleMania two nights the entire WrestleMania two nights and so okay here's my other problem is that I felt like some of these matches were so short you didn't get a good story. Like the women's fatal four way I felt like that could have gone even longer I thought that could have been even better with the return of Paige and like you know seeing her go up against Nia Jack square off because they've had that square off before that would have been cool. I think that uh the AJ Lee Becky that could have gone longer. Obviously the six man tag could have gone longer the latter match could have gone longer. Is there a um like a time restriction in Vegas that had to be done by I mean not I'm not talking about just the streaming on ESPN or the I think I think maybe probably like by 11 I think I think that's the cutoff 11 p.m dude both nights of WrestleMania were done by 7 p.m west coast time right that's what I was going to say like the was there a reason why I felt like everything was so rushed. No I mean last year at WrestleMania I was like into match number like three at that time or something like that. And I was just like the problem was they did the start early which is great for the East Coast. Yeah me too don't get me wrong I love an I love a good early start but the thing is like once you're done you're like oh what do I do? Because it's like 7 p.m yeah it's like like I made dinner. Yeah we went to the Luxor bar and we checked out the the the title belt bar over there at the Luxor. Yeah there was a DJ that was playing all theme music and it was it was actually really cool. I actually I had a good time we were just like hanging out there waiting for traffic to die down and then we ended up taking off. So you didn't go out to the post show or whatever it was we did we make it out to the post show we did make it out uh a little bit for Saturday I will tell you this uh personally I had a I had like a hip problem so like for me walking was a lot and I was honestly in a lot of pain on Saturday where I was just like I was kind of miserable by the time WrestleMania ended and I was just like because you know I'm sitting in a confined spot you know yes luckily we actually had the back row of our section so I was able to stand up without you know walking anybody's view which worked out great for me but the problem is like getting up standing up sitting down getting up and like my hip was just killing me on top of that it's a two mile walk from where we were and like when you're when you're at a Legion stadium the Ubers don't go to the stadium you have to cross the bridge um I mean you could get an Uber however you're waiting in a very long line if you're waiting on that side of the arena so by the time like we got out you know because I had to take my time and uh when we got out we did see a little bit of the post show of night number one night number two I felt amazing I had some Advil with me and so I I popped that in and luckily night number two I was good. I was I was good I was good uh but the other thing too I think walking in the Macho Man costume kind of like kind of messed me up because I was in the wrestling boots and stuff like that. But night number two we did see the post show we saw a little bit of Rhea uh talking we saw a little bit of trick Williams um and then we heard Roman coming out because at that point we're like let's get out of here because there's so many people here let's get out of here that way we go ahead and avoid whatever traffic we could so Roman you know addressed a couple things it was funny because the crowd was chanting fuck TKO fuck TKO yeah we heard it yeah and he's like well he looked at I think it was Peter Rosenberg he looked at him and he's like what are they saying and then like he just ignored it he's like just keep going the best part was no one talked and you could just hear the crowd. Oh yeah I don't know if something was saying hey guys just just let let the crowd say what they want to say let them say fuck TKO let's get it so yeah it was about 10 10 seconds or so of them being like yeah but the frustration though honestly comes from the lack of WrestleMania I I felt like it was just thrown together thrown together you have half wrestling half ads and and that's the thing I think that killed us because it's like night number two we all felt it we did feel it in the crowd. We were just so we were upset we're like yo like what the hell's going on on top of that yeah on top of that right where we were sitting they had this uh you could see in my zoom right here you see the uh the the beams or whatever the the trust right there from above the big screen these lights right here in the corner were blinding us night number two because they were on and it was a blue so all of a sudden they decided to turn on the lights that were facing our section and especially right where we were boom were all blue and we're just like oh my god so it was hard to see the screen because you know at the same time we're far so we want to watch the screen and the ring so it's hard to see the screen because you're blinded by the light so it was unfortunate but uh did you did you happen to see these rumors of like TKO produced night one WWE produced night two I didn't know why there was such a crazy yeah I saw a couple rumors and things swirling out there as well that that could have been it.

SPEAKER_02

Well then honestly had creative control over night one and WWE had cream creative control over night two and that's how we saw such a big difference I thought night night two was hands down better than night number one.

SPEAKER_03

WWE produced yeah and if it if that's if that's true I could see that I can definitely see that and it's funny too because you could tell I mean like that's how they kind of like made the two separate was by like logos and by the color it's like they had a different WrestleMania logo technically for night number one than night two. Yeah if you look at it so I was like maybe that's true. If there's some truth behind it I I could kind of see that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah I think there had to be a way to separate everything. I think again they don't have to separate it.

SPEAKER_03

WrestleMania is WrestleMania it's not making it uh night one versus night two thank you thank you I and I think that that's getting to my next point I think that because of just the way it rolled out I mean a lot of people are not happy with WrestleMania in general um myself included but they need to go to Saudi next year. I think they do and I think they maybe they have to go and I think they need to just do one night. All these matches it could have been one night.

SPEAKER_02

I I'm actually starting to get used to the two nights I think there's so many top superstars so you really you can't have a six seven hour PLE like AEW can get away with 12 matches. I actually do like the two nights split them up I just don't think you need basically two different like looks just keep it all the same.

SPEAKER_03

Yes we know there's a night one yes we know there's a night two you don't need a color scheme you don't need a separate logo um just make these matches and put them out there so that way people can decide if they can't afford both nights which night they want to go to well I also think that if you do do one night you don't need this many superstars you don't need these many matches.

SPEAKER_02

You can scale down the matches let's say there's what 14 matches combined right it was 13 13 13 right 13 matches combined supposed to be 14 but yeah only got 13 so you figure you could cut out in half there's no reason there's no reason yeah I mean I would have loved to see every title on the line so what we were only missing the what the women's um US title I think everything else was up for great no sorry the tag smackdown yeah both both tag titles and um yeah the women's US I would I think for these big PLE for WrestleMania really or even just the big four um WrestleMania SummerSlam Survivor series and Rumble all titles should be on the line yeah they all should and there's so many top superstars like this one right here doesn't have a belt you know I had to do it yeah but you know what we could have had him possibly on the show if you just went a day early and met him but you did not you missed him. Yes I didn't guys are in the same place at the same time and you fucked up yes I did. There are too many top superstars there are too many big superstars to get it down to night one. I mean we've already seen it on both of these nights scaling back the length of these matches you really can't scale them back anymore than they already are.

SPEAKER_03

So we'll we'll see we'll see well the last the last thing I will say about WrestleMania is that we do have a contest up on our Instagram at Towers of PowerPod it is Is a auto not autograph, it is a um I'll autograph it for you if you want. Yeah, I can do it. It is a WrestleMania poster featuring Roman Reigns and CM Punk specifically for the World Heavyweight Championship. I think uh Gary has it in his possession. He has it ready to go ahead and mail out. So in case you don't know, we do have this on our Instagram at Towers of PowerPod as he's trying to unroll it and show me, even though I know exactly what the poster looks like. Look at those abs. Look at them abs of Roman Reigns. Yes, so all you have to do is follow our Instagram, go ahead and click on the post to tell you all the details. You uh you can see the picture of Gary holding it up right there. Poolside, by the way. Ooh.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, all you have to do is go ahead and, you know, make sure that you like the post, you tag a friend in the comments, uh, and uh each friend and entry equals uh sorry, uh one friend equals one entry uh that will be counted one time. Uh also uh let us know who you think was gonna win that match. Uh obviously that was posted before the match. If you if you down museum monk, we'll still give it to you. Yeah, yeah. All right, um there's only one of these limited edition posters on Instagram. Yes, one of one. And right now we do have a lot of people actually who have entered this contest. Uh the winner will be chosen at uh actually on May 19th. Yeah. So May 19th. So you still got some full month to go ahead and get your entries in there. And right after that, we'll roll out the next contest, which will be either some merch or a Funko Pop. We'll go ahead and talk about that and figure that out. We got to talk about the outcome of Monday Night Raw. The big fallout, uh, I'm sorry, the big fallout of WrestleMania happens on Monday Night Raw. This is the biggest Raw of the year. It's always been hyped up like that. It has not lived up to the hype over the last probably six years or so. Yep. So let's talk about Monday Night Raw real quick, Gary. Your thoughts on Raw. Let's go ahead and say the new superstars, who's gonna wear, all that stuff.

unknown

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

So a couple NXT call-ups. We got Ethan Page and Sol Ruka um debuting on Raw. It has been said that this is their new home. Um, they also said Joe Hendry will also be a Raw superstar. He will start next week. So those are official rumors are swirling for SmackDown. I've heard rumors of JC Jane and her faction of Fatal Influence. That's her, Fallon Henley and Laney Reed. Um, they will be on SmackDown. Um, so we'll see what happens. Um SmackDown. We'll see who else gets called up. Um, but great. Happy to kind of start seeing these superstars come in. Um, this was probably one of the better raws after Rainy after WrestleMania in the last couple of years, starts with Oba. The rula has arrived and just drops the mic, which was cool. I guess it was a it was a hint at uh at Roman doing it a couple years ago, saying, This is my yard now, mic drop and leaves. Probably a bigger pop for uh for Oba.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah, because people hate a Roman because he essentially retired to the Undertaker.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, exactly. So to see that, um, to see those superstars get called up. I'm excited to see where it goes. I personally don't think Joe Hendry is raw material, that's just me. I think he is a SmackDown or stay at TNA or start, say at NXT for a little bit while longer. Uh work with TNA, still on that faction over there. Um, but yeah, I it'll be interesting to see how Joe Hendry does um as they're kicking him off. Oh, lights out. I know my light is out. That means it's time to do the concert. Yeah, he's gonna be doing his live concert in on Raw on the city. I think that's gonna be cool. Yeah, but no, I I just don't think he's I think Raw is just such a different breed than SmackDown. I think there's certain superstars that belong on each brand. I think it was just with their for good. Tatum's just like he wants to have input too.

SPEAKER_04

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um but yeah, I think there's superstars that are made for Raw, superstars that are made for SmackDown, and I personally think that the Joe Hendry thing, he's more hokey pokey, but still a great wrestler.

SPEAKER_03

But they have that's more SmackDown. So they have Kit Wilson, you have to think about they have uh Dan Housen who goes, I think, back and forth.

SPEAKER_02

You gotta keep Dan Housen just straight on on Raw, or maybe have him keep going back and forth. He's great.

SPEAKER_03

Oh it's funny how I hated the fact that he was coming to WWE.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but now a lot of people did.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, I will eat my crow and I will go ahead and say, like, I'm a huge fan now. Yes, oh nom nom nom nom. Uh so I think I think he's great. Um all right, what else happened on Raw?

SPEAKER_02

Uh so yeah, so we have uh Fatu confronting um Roman. So we saw Cody confronting in a way CM Punk. So I think this is the superstar swap. I don't believe we're getting a draft this year. Um, so I think um Fatu is now going to be a raw superstar. I think they're gonna be moving punk to Friday nights. I think that helps out now with with AJ losing at WrestleMania. I think she is going away for a little while. She said this is not goodbye. Um, this is I'll see you later. So we're out of that um for just a little while. We'll see if if and when she comes back, maybe SummerSlam. Um so seeing those two superstars basically swap, um, start some new rivalries. We don't know if and when we're gonna get Randy Horton back. Um, hell, we don't even know when Cody's gonna be able to wrestle again.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he showed up on Monday and his eye looked horrible.

SPEAKER_02

Was it extra makeup? I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, so that's that's the thing I thought too. I'm like, is there a little extra makeup? But it's funny, like somebody had posted the comparison, like, oh man, uh, it's in Las Vegas, and this champion showed up with a black eye, and they also showed a picture of Hulkan back at WrestleMania 9. Oh, that's great when he had his eye situation that and nobody knows the truth behind that, and nobody ever will know the truth behind it. Rumor was that Macho Man and him got into a scuffle and Macho busted him in the eye.

SPEAKER_02

The other maybe it's on the new Netflix doc that's now out on Netflix. I started watching that by the way. Have you? I was gonna probably start it today, if not tomorrow. I don't have a whole lot going on.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I started it and I'm like, okay, I know the backstory. Like I know I know about who he is and stuff like that. So I'm I'm in episode two right now. So and so I don't know. Um I saw I saw something that he was on fentanyl. Um yeah, there's a lot I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

I think you're more of a Hogan guy than I am. I think as a kid I was because he was just the one that everyone kind of to. But I mean, uh I'm interested in watching. Um, we'll see what kind of comes out after it. But they were really pushing it as our first WrestleMania without Hog Hulk Hogan here, and it felt like he was there because every other ad was the damn documentary.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so uh Paul Heyman had a good promo talking about the the future of Brock Lesnar and pretty much said that he is retired.

SPEAKER_02

I thought for sure he wasn't, but yeah, he really he didn't no one's really saying that word retired. Um I think they're just I think they're still leaving the door open because maybe they actually don't know. Maybe Brock doesn't know, but I I think it's pretty set in stone he is retired. But again, that those words have not come out of anyone's mouth as of whatever date this is.

SPEAKER_03

Thursday.

SPEAKER_02

We are we are we still Thursday? Okay, we are Thursday.

SPEAKER_03

It is a long episode today because we had to cover a lot.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_03

So um, all right, and then let's see what else happened on Monday night raw. We saw the return.

SPEAKER_02

We saw the return.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

We saw the return of Street Prophets. Yes, very surprising, yes. Thank God they had to. I was kind of saying, like, man, I kind of hope now they're back, and then their music actually hit because like obviously there was that showdown um with with who is it with? Why am I oh with the vision, yeah? Um and everyone then they came out to um to help out Seth, thank you. I'm just like perfect, this is great. Now they're back. So now we're starting to really build up that tag team, the men's tag team division once again. Yeah, so we'll see where that goes. I'm so happy that they're back. Um, and the crowd was right behind them.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Four days straight in Vegas, four straight shows in Vegas, and the crowd was like that's a lot.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, yeah, it was a lot. So I mean, Vegas, Vegas is a lot, and it's funny. I was talking to uh friend Rob and he's like, I don't know if I can do Vegas anymore. And I'm like, Yeah, it is it's a lot because there's so many things that are going on. I mean, each hotel I felt like had something which is fantastic for wrestling fans, but at the same time, there's nothing official. Um, just like I told you, some people got mad at me on on TikTok last episode because I posted wherever the meet and greets were, and somebody uh said, like, oh, those are from last year. I'm like, shit, like I'm just I'm just trying to do my best. And somebody's like, What's with the errors in this weird order? Yeah, like motherfucker, like then figure it out yourself. Why are you even looking?

SPEAKER_02

Please everyone, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I know, and I felt bad because one of our listeners did go to one of the events, even though I had said I'm like, Hey, that's last year. She didn't see it, and she went, and she's like, Hey, she's like, This event didn't happen. I'm like, I'm so sorry. I don't know if you saw earlier. She's like, it's okay. She's like, I was the only one there, but it's okay. I was like, Oh man, yeah. I mean, I try, I try, I try to help the community. Yeah, um, all right. Anything else? Any final uh things about Raw or anything else?

SPEAKER_02

Not that I can remember right now. I'm sure something will come out of it. I wish we got a little bit more out of Roman um in that last segment. Yeah, um, they did say that Brock was gonna be on Raw. There was a graphic at the beginning, and then it just turned out to be just like a vignette.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's what I was very, you know, yeah, worried about. Like what's really happening?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it felt weird because it was like 15 minutes left. I'm like, how the hell are they gonna squeeze both of you know, because we knew we were gonna get Roman? I'm like, yeah, they also said Brock, so who knows? I think I think there's more to the story that maybe we'll get in Unreal season five in two years.

SPEAKER_03

The retirement of Brock.

SPEAKER_02

I really hope that we do get some of that on Unreal.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, um, I would love to see what happened backstage if if if it was legit where Hunter's freaking out or if anybody else is freaking out. Yeah, because you know, Paul Heyman was the producer for that match, so he got producer credit for the first time.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you know, we'll see. I don't know. But no, I mean I I think again, I think there could have been more out of Roman. It felt weird that um Fatu went right after him. Um when Fatu came out to confront Roman, I'm just like, is this the new bloodline? And then he's like, Nope, I'm not joining you. I want that belt, I need that belt. I'm waiting for I'm waiting for the turn. Yeah. Roman's gonna be left by himself. I don't think that Fatu's gonna win by any chance because you're gonna give him that match at Backlash. Um he put the he threw the gauntlet down, and Roman's like, nah, I'll give you a week to decide if you want to do it. He's like, what the fuck? I basically said all right, this is what I want. So you're taking the week for yourself. It felt weird, so we'll see that match at backlash. Backlash. Backlash. Um so we'll see what comes of it. But the fight but Uso is wearing the white Raiders, you know, 42 WrestleMania 42 jersey. Fatu always wears the black 42 Raiders jersey. So I think there's a little something to that.

SPEAKER_03

You know where we're gonna see that at?

SPEAKER_02

Matchy Machie. Backlash. May 9th, Tampa.

unknown

May 9th, Tampa, Batlash.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's my real voice. Well done. Um all right, we gotta get out of here.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, what's that? That's what you sound like in the morning.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I know. I'll be like, Hey good morning.

SPEAKER_04

Let me go in to my coffee on Jesus.

SPEAKER_03

Uh all right, we gotta get out of here. It's too much now. Yeah.
