We break down everything that happened at SummerSlam including the retirement from Brock Lesnar, CM Punk and Rhodes feud and what we thought about Roman and Rollins.
Yeah, you know what it says in the audio word before we jumped on, and this is a song that I just picked randomly. And how's it? I forgot how good the song was phoneactactyls and victory and Brodus Clay do his little uh T-Rex dance with his hands going ah not as good as uh Michael Jackson.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, not with the thriller.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, the thriller's completely different. This is him being a dinosaur going.
SPEAKER_03Ah, yeah. Uh whatever it is. Tyrannosaurus or whatever you'll remember that.
SPEAKER_05Wasn't that supposed to be his name at one point? I don't know. Something, yeah. Anyways, anyways, well, welcome to another episode of the Towers of Power A Pro Wrestling Podcast. I am Hollywood Chris, otherwise known as Chris Martinez, and join me right there, finally back from the grave. Gary! Jesus Christ. I killed you off last episode. You missed it. You didn't even listen to it. It's funny because of all people, you killed me off. Yeah, man. I I was joined by nobody. It was funny because I was like, oh yeah, hey, I'm joined by nobody.
SPEAKER_03Well, I mean, Brian's unfortunately never around, but good for him because he's getting work in.
SPEAKER_05Yes.
SPEAKER_03But man, of all people, it's alright.
SPEAKER_05I will say this. You know, he was very close that we almost had him on the show again. And a last-minute meeting that he had to take, unfortunately, kind of like affected that schedule, but it's okay. You know, I ended up doing my episode by myself, kind of recapping and getting ready for uh WWE SummerSlam. And I released the episode SummerSlam.
SPEAKER_03It doesn't work as well as Backlash.
SPEAKER_05No, yeah. I don't know. Wait, do I even have that anymore? No, I don't think I do. Uh damn. Sorry. Yeah, he's gone. We need that one. We gotta get that. You gotta find that one.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05But I got this though. Don't worry, folks. I don't go anywhere with Maven's theme song. We're still here. All right. Uh you know, so I did preview SummerSlam, and I also released the episode of my interview with Paul Heyman, never heard before. And that was a very fun 2012 interview. And on that same day, that same afternoon, and actually same morning, that's what it was. I interviewed AJ Lee, interviewed Dolphin Vicky, I interviewed Seamus and uh the Bella twins. That's around, didn't you? What's that? You just got around. I didn't. I I was, you know, big slut. Yes. Oh my god, wow. Gary. I'm back. What do you want? FCC's gonna be on us right now. Yeah, puck them. Yeah, oh my god, wow. Wow. So you know, this is all leading up to SummerSlam, and finally we reached the two nights in Minneapolis, Minnesota. SummerSlam went down, of course, live on ESPN, the Ocho, and whatever other streaming service you were watching it, Twitter, ESPN, ESPN, El Apo. Yes, well, VPN, people were VPN and I got a website where I can actually watch it for free.
SPEAKER_03I'm legit, I'm legit.
SPEAKER_05I'm not, I'm upset. I'm still upset because I got the Disney Hulu bundle ESPN, and then all of a sudden, like, oh yeah, you need the ESPN plus. I'm like, nah, nah. Yeah, I already got it.
SPEAKER_03No, I don't need an upgrade. But I did see something where now if you have YouTube TV, you can link it. But I think you might actually still have to have the ESPN something or other. Yeah, see, they're gonna get you.
SPEAKER_05Completely link it. They're gonna get you. I mean it should have just stayed on Netflix. It should have just stayed with the WWE network.
SPEAKER_03There you go. For how much? For nine out of nine.
SPEAKER_05If you know, you know. Oh, time to be alive during that part. Yeah, really. So SummerSlam, we gotta talk about SummerSlam. What were your big takeaways from SummerSlam? Because obviously there's quite a few, including the retirement of Brock Lesnar. He's come out and said he is done. And I thought it was very I thought it was very odd, and I'll tell you that in a second. Um, oh let's just jump into it right now. I thought it was very odd that he, out of all things, he went on the Pat McAfee show to say that he's officially done. Why Pat McAfee's show and why not do it on a Raw?
SPEAKER_03I think it's just because of Pat McAfee and the reach and the ESPN partnership and all that stuff. Like that to me was a no-brainer. Um, when he did it, I wish I almost wish he didn't quote unquote retire at WrestleMania doing the boots and stuff. I think he could have done more of that with Oba at SummerSlam. I love that he gave him his flowers, he passed in the torch on the past, this is the present or the future, whatever he said. Um, and then maybe like just take off his gloves or something and almost maybe give them to Oba or something like that. Because I think everyone was kind of speculating that he was done after that match, but we didn't hear about it till Monday, if not Tuesday, on the Pat McAfee show.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and yeah, I think you're right. He should have done something a little bit more there at SummerSlam, but I thought it was very odd when he came to the ring with elbow pads and something that he had never worn before.
SPEAKER_03Right away, I yeah, I that's not my kick there.
SPEAKER_05Because I'm like, you know, back in the day he came out with knee pads, you know, because he had the trunks with knee pads, and then when he when he came back and he had like the UFC shorts, he dropped the knee pads.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_05And so then it was just his boots. Well, he did have knee pads a couple times, and then he dropped them when he had like the the all-black pants.
SPEAKER_03But he didn't have knee pads this time around, and he should have.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, he should have had a lot of pads.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, my knees were hurting.
SPEAKER_05My god, yes. All right, so um, you know, he's in the middle of the ring, calls over Oba, says hey, blah, blah, blah, does a little speech, goes on Pat McAfee. I just wish it would have been a bigger deal than what it was because it's almost like it was like a two-minute thing where he's like, I just want to shout out people who have been there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Uh, and uh, I'm done.
SPEAKER_03It's like it's weird because I feel like he also maybe thought, like, hey, I've already done this once. That's how I kind of took it.
SPEAKER_05I don't think well, he never did, and he said he's officially done with everything.
SPEAKER_03Well, no, I think he in my head, he's already done the I took my boots off, I did all that stuff. And I think he's like, I don't, I'm not gonna do this again, type of a thing. People might call me on my bluff, so let me just say a few words, let me hug Oba, um, do some things that are you know kind of you know out of left field, if you will. Yeah, um, and just go from there. So I understood it. I don't I don't you know give him any beef for it. I think it's I think now that he went on the Pat McAfee show and actually said it, now everyone's kind of at peace. So 2027 Hall of Fame in fucking Saudi Arabia. There you go.
SPEAKER_05Do they get Sable?
SPEAKER_03That introduction? No, no, no.
SPEAKER_05No, do they get Sable in the Hall of Fame with him?
SPEAKER_03Oh, I didn't think about that. I mean the very first ever husband and wife. Oh god. Um I mean it's not a bad is she's she's not in yet?
SPEAKER_05No. I mean I don't know where they stand with her because she sued the company, but then she was brought back afterwards, too.
SPEAKER_03Well, we're gonna get into Dark Side of the Ring, I think, but same with Jeff Jarrett. There's a lot of beef there, and then he got in. So um, but yeah, maybe Sable. I don't know. I mean, that's actually a really cool thing. Uh, I think that would be pretty cool if they did. I mean, every year they do at least one female.
SPEAKER_05Um, so we'll see. I mean, she she deserves it at the end of the day. I mean, she, you know, she'd been there forever. Going back on SummerSlam, real quickly, uh, we're just gonna kind of recap stuff. Liv Morgan defeated Eosky to open up the whole entire SummerSlam weekend. LA Knight, Solo, Sokoa, and Royce Keys defeated the Bloodline. Your thoughts on that match?
SPEAKER_03Um, honestly, that was kind of my popcorn match, to be honest with you. Okay. Um, I think I got I think I just didn't know what I was gonna expect from it. Um I got back, wasn't really popcorn, but I got back to my little couch. I watched, I mean, it was a really good match. It was good pretzel. I thought it was gonna be ooh, peanut butter pretzels. Yeah, man. Um straight from Trey to Joe's aisle, what aisle uh on the almond aisle? Okay, cool. Three. I don't know, we'll call it three. Um so yeah, I mean it it was a it was a good match overall. I was surprised that Jay took the pin. Um so here you go. Usos and um oh my god. Fight two, Jesus Christ. Usos and fight two, they um they lost, obviously. Um, but yeah, to see Jay take the pin. I love that LA Knight did get the pin, um, but I was a little shocked to see that it was over um over Jay. So maybe there's gonna be more something there. Um I mean we can go over overall, you know, we we can do our own grading system of night one and night two after we kind of go over everything. So I had I had my say. I was all over Twitter more on night two than I was on night one, but yeah, I saw.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, he's uh angry. Um the match I was really looking forward to seeing Gunther and Nick Aldous, right? And you know, going uh going back to our last podcast that I did solo, um I did say that Nick would have to lose. And the reason why is because you build up Gunther to be this machine taking out legends, Cena, AJ Styles, Goldberg, and it's like he needs this, and if he doesn't, then they just wasted their time trying to build him up. Your thoughts on the match, your thoughts on Nick Aldous, how did he look? What did you think?
SPEAKER_03I mean, I haven't seen him in a match in a long time. I mean, I think they said he was out of the ring for what three years just about.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_03Um God, I honestly don't I mean, Magnus, or it's in TNA was the last thing I remember seeing him wrestle in. Um, but then it was weird I bring up Magnus more because they acted like this was his first ever WWE match, and I didn't like that because they've kind of they've they've peeled back the curtain where with Matt Cardona Zack Ryder. Right. This is Matt Cardona's first match, but you know, we know Zack Ryder. They just never ever hinted at the Nick Aldis Magnus anything because he has wrestled in WWE, he has been on the WE roster as an active wrestler, and it's almost like he just didn't even exist. They wanted to keep it to like all vignettes were TNA, um Japan, New Japan, I think, um, and just wherever else he was, but never as himself or Magnus in WWE.
SPEAKER_05I thought it was great to see him. I mean, just to see him in general. I was like, yes, finally we get to see this because they'd have been building up forever.
SPEAKER_03With Oasis as the theme as his entrance music, which was huge, apparently.
SPEAKER_05Huge. Yeah, apparently, yeah. You know, here's the thing. I don't know the magnitude of Oasis, but I understand like how big it was because the Miz was talking about it, and the Miz was upset. He's like, he hasn't had a match, and over here they just give him Oasis out of everything, they just give him Oasis.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think it's kind of his uh thanks for everything that you've done. Obviously, I'm assuming he's now done it in Ring, he has completed his uh his career in Ring. Who knows? I think that was kind of his here. You go, here's Oasis. Yeah, they're about to sign off from Oasis, I think, in like two days. So who knows how much Oasis made off of that? I'm sure there's a nice little check. Yeah, uh, definitely, but yeah, really cool to see.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and uh, you know, when he was on CVV, uh the Chrisville Van Vleet podcast, uh, he got emotional when he was talking about this possibly being his last match. So I think it was his last match in general, you know. I would love to see him again though. Yeah, he is still technically, he is still younger than Cody Punk. Is he really? Yeah, uh Seth, I think. I believe, I know for sure he's younger than Punk and Roman. He is younger than both.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Roman, I believe Roman. Oh, wait, he's younger than Roman. Yeah, shut the fuck up. No, see, I don't think he's that he's not there's no way.
SPEAKER_05Let's see, hold on. Oh, let's look it up right now. How old is Nick?
SPEAKER_03Roman's like mid-40s, if that, isn't he? Let's see. Oh man.
SPEAKER_05Nick Aldous' like 48, 49. How old is Nick Aldous? He's 39.
SPEAKER_03He's 39? He's 39. Shut the fuck up. No, he's not. Yep. Yeah, he is. I thought he was pushing mid-40s, if not upper 40s.
SPEAKER_05Nope.
SPEAKER_03Sorry, Nick, if you're listening.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, he's listening right now. Oh, he just tweeted me. He's like, how dare G Dubs33 insult me.
SPEAKER_03Well, if it was on Twitter, it'd be at Gary underscore Dubin.
SPEAKER_05Oh, he doesn't know the difference. He just knows it's Gary Dubin. Damn. Well, yeah, he's coming at you, man. Um, all right, going back to SummerSlam. Uh yeah, then that led us into the Fatal Influence. Take it on the Bellas with Paige when all of a sudden the Bellas turn on Paige at the very end.
SPEAKER_03Yep. And well, one, I loved it all.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03I think Fatal Influence is the best thing to happen to the main roster in a long time. Right. So happy that they beat the Bellas. I think I knew that I felt like that was the right move. Right. Put them over. Um, the lingering in the ring, I'm like, okay, here comes the heel turn. So it wasn't too much, but of course, Bree is now injured or was injured before the match or something. I I don't know. I don't think I realized the detriment of it. But yeah, I don't know. They're cursed.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, exactly. It's like one belly gets hurt, the other one comes in, the other belly gets hurt. Both of them need to be healthy.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Now they're gonna be like, oh, Paige, I'm sorry. So now it's gonna be Nika and Nikki and Paige and for the titles.
SPEAKER_05Um all right, then we get to uh the WWE championship, the undisputed WWE championship, CM Punk defending against Cody Rhodes in a match that I thought went a little bit too long. It was 30 minutes and ten seconds according to Wikipedia.
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_05Um your thoughts on this match. Actually, rate this match.
SPEAKER_00Oh god.
SPEAKER_03Six and a half, seven?
SPEAKER_05I gave it a six.
SPEAKER_03I think seven's being generous.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. And a lot of people were making fun of CM Punk for missing the moonsault. And then there was a lot more video of that as well, because then somebody's like, oh, he's paying tribute to himself in 2014 because he fought Cena and he did the moonsault and he landed like that. Exactly the same, completely missed it.
SPEAKER_03Oh no. Yeah, I didn't pick up on that.
SPEAKER_05I mean Yeah, no, no, no, yeah, yeah. I mean, people were making fun of it. That's not a real comparison.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. It's a match I think that I really wasn't that at all invested in from the start. Yeah. Um I think the it felt rush, we're brothers, we're this, we're that, blah blah blah blah. It's like we all know about like their history and their friendship in AEW and their history and their friendship from WWE. It's just one of those it felt very forced. Right. I wish they just let them be who they are, don't add the extra bullshit and just let them go at it.
SPEAKER_05But absolutely. And then uh post show that was night one, and post-show, CM Punk was on there and made some comments. And did you hear about the comments that he made?
SPEAKER_03So pretty pretty much, yeah. I watched.
SPEAKER_05Pretty much was upset, but not upset that he was the main event, not the main event.
SPEAKER_03So in the I think it was a perfect lineup. I don't think there was no reason for them to be the main event. It was weird that the championship was not the main event.
SPEAKER_05Well, I mean, it's it's happened before in the past, right?
SPEAKER_03I mean, you have two people like like Punk and like QB1, Cody Rhodes, and you don't have them as the main event, it was a little weird. But in the end, when you've got a kid who's just fucking skyrocketing an Oba, and you've got Brock Lesnar in his final match, then that's the right move. Right. Absolutely the right move.
SPEAKER_05And Punk took a cheap shot saying, like, you know, I don't have it in my contract that's saying I have to go on last. And I'm like, whoa. Yeah. But it's like at the same time, it's like, you know, if if he's a wrestling buff, and I know he is, how do you forget about this? And I know Gary, this is gonna go way over your head. But Summerslam 1992, Wembley Stadium, the very first time that SummerSlam was overseas, we saw the title, the title match for the WWF championship, the Macho Man Randy Savage taking on the Ultimate Warrior, and that match was dead middle of the card. Right, exactly. Your actions right there. It was dead middle of the card.
SPEAKER_03Everybody was listening. I went like this.
SPEAKER_02He went, yeah.
SPEAKER_05And then the main event, technically, the last match, was Brett the Hitman Heart taking on the British Bulldog for the Intercontinental Championship. Okay, so it's like you have to remember that you're catering to the audience along with the wrestlers, along with everything. You got a lot of balancing that you have to do. Sometimes the heavyweight championship is not gonna go on last. Sometimes it hasn't gone on last. Remember when Brock Lesnar was champion, sometimes he'd come out first.
SPEAKER_03I was gonna say, so is it worse that you're on second to last as a championship match, world heavyweight, or you know, the title match, or first?
SPEAKER_05I think if if you are if you are the champion, I think it's your job to do whatever they ask. Okay, and what I mean by that is just like, yeah, you're there to help sell tickets. You're you're on the poster, you're definitely you're definitely getting your paycheck. So what does it matter?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, sure. I don't think it matters.
SPEAKER_05Give me second, I'll go on second, I don't care. That that to me means hey, I get to sit back and enjoy the show.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I don't know. Just my thought on that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Night number one, go ahead and write it.
SPEAKER_03I think I get so I wrote I put this out on the what did you write on X? I think I want to say I put C minus C something. I can go back and look, but I'm pretty sure it was a C minus for night one. I remember uh I finished it and then uh roommate Zach got home and goes, Oh, it just ended. I was like, Yeah, zip through it if you want to. I was like, I'm gonna go chill. Like I was just not enthused of it like at all. Like so C minus.
SPEAKER_05I gave it C. B minus C. You know, and then sorry, go ahead. No, go ahead.
SPEAKER_03I was gonna say because it was weird, like going into now Sunday, I'm like, okay, so we got six more matches. I think I think it was six matches. Um it was one of those, it was like 3.02 p.m. I'm like, oh yeah, it started, let me toss it on. Like it was just nothing that was just like okay, night one just felt like such meh.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And I'm like, uh, okay, let's check out night two. But of course, fucking I turned it on just in time, and let's fucking get into night two.
SPEAKER_05But all right, well, night number two of SummerSlam kicked off with um a fatal four-way match. You know, first everybody was like, wait, what? Yeah, you know, um Nick Aldous came out and said, Hey Sammy Zayn, we're gonna go ahead and add some people to this you and Finn Balor match. Here comes Gunther.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05But wait, we're not done.
SPEAKER_03Fucking knew it.
SPEAKER_05Here comes the returning Kevin Owens.
SPEAKER_03Wow. That crowd fucking reaction, man.
SPEAKER_05And it and if you haven't seen it on social, um WWE posted a video of him like right behind the scenes, right behind the curtain. Like and it says like, oh, hearing his music for the first time in two years. And that's amazing. So I love that show. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Give me more of that on Unreal. Not the show they've been talking about.
SPEAKER_05Don't get me started on real. Since you missed last week's episode, I talked about how scripted that is more than WWE.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_05Um it's like, why are they mic'd up?
SPEAKER_03Yep. Have you seen Kevin Owens? Um it was cool. I mean the match itself. So the the match is the Finn versus Sammy. I'm like, okay, they're both 10 years this, 10 years this 10 years title. I haven't had I got it. I loved it. I was like, fucking, let's start pushing Finn, let's start pushing these other people that really haven't been pushed after seeing what Hunter said after what after the first night recap of like you know, just asked for opportunities. Maybe it's after the night two recap, yeah, his press conference, I don't remember. But seeing this other people that aren't like your core four or your fab five, if you will, getting all the title shots all the time. Um, but no, it's just like Nick all just came out, like you said, and I'm just like, motherfucker, he's gonna add Gunther. I just I knew it, fucking knew it. Yeah, and you hear the music, I'm like, all right, cool, Gunther's gonna win. But when he came out again, I'm like, oh fuck, if the rumor mill is true, this is this is Kevin.
SPEAKER_05No fucking you didn't think it was like Drew or Randy coming back.
SPEAKER_03No, because we saw Randy the night before. Yes, I forgot about that. Yeah, yeah, me too, until we just started talking about it's back. Yeah, he did a running. Punk. Yeah, yep. So we'll see what that goes. But yeah, so once Randy showed up on night one, I'm like, this has to be Kevin because the rumors are swirling it. They were both in Minneapolis, they're backstage and all that kind of stuff. So Super excited, shocked at the outcome. Yes. Um, to be honest with you.
SPEAKER_05But the outcome was Kevin Owens winning.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Rumor. I mean rumor. Spoiler alert. Um, by now, in case you don't know. By now you would hope. You would hope you would know. Great match. And he was just fucking balls to the wall. He really great known. Did not give a fuck. Swan Thomas didn't give a shit. Like, good for him.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Good for him.
SPEAKER_05I mean, there was rumors that he was never going to come back, so.
SPEAKER_03Right. And then I also saw, and I think he even said it that he got word. Um what month are we in? At um at Rumble or a little bit after Rumble that he was going to be cleared.
SPEAKER_04Oh wow.
SPEAKER_03He's known for like a uh maybe a month or so that he was going to be uh he was gonna be getting cleared. They were seeing what they were supposed to see. Um and yeah, I think it was just when the timing happens, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Amazing is great.
SPEAKER_03So I'm super fucking excited to see what what happens next between him and uh him and punk because uh that is gonna be good.
SPEAKER_05Now that's gonna be good.
SPEAKER_03Just more on the mic than anything. Yeah, exactly. God damn. A little rap battle.
SPEAKER_05All right, well, SummerSlam continues with Baron Corbin taking on Trick Williams for the US championship. And surprisingly, Baron Corbin won.
SPEAKER_03I like it.
SPEAKER_05I can't say I'm Baron Corbin, but I understand why they did it.
SPEAKER_03I totally get it. I like it. Yep, I like it. I love Trick, but uh him losing that, I am so excited to see where he's headed next. Money in the bank, potential money in the bank, whatever. Um, I mean, or just keep going, go back for that title. Um, he's a fucking he's a fucking superstar. I'm so excited to see where he goes. I think this was a perfect loss for him. Baron Corbin's worked his ass off in the indies since he's left WWE. He's real, he's rebuilt his brand. I hate his new fucking music. Um, but still, I'm I'm I was very happy with the outcome. So that was number two. I'm like, fuck, great fucking show. Two for two, two for fucking two on night two. Fucking great.
SPEAKER_05Now on Gary's scale, right there. Ah match number three. It was a five-way ladder match for the interim WWE Women's Championship. We saw Chelsea Green, Charlie Flair, Jade Cargill, Lash Legend, and Tiffany Stratton. Minnesota zone. Minnesota zone. Um and we saw the winner being Chelsea Green.
SPEAKER_03My god, that was like three for three. I was losing my mind at this point. I'm like, I don't know how night two could get any better. Like this fucking fuck night one. Yes. Night two just had it all in the first three matches for me, to be honest with you.
SPEAKER_05Was Chelsea Green the right move?
SPEAKER_03Hell yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yes, I agree.
SPEAKER_03Fucking hell yeah. You know what? I think I think I tweeted out if Chelsea loses, we riot question mark. Um, it was just there's no reason for her not to win, especially if this is gonna have that interim tag. But WWE said this will be this will be an official title reign, so they'll never ever take that title reign away from her.
SPEAKER_05Um, because they kept screaming interim champion, interim champion. Correct for the interim title.
SPEAKER_03It it is an interim championship, she is the interim champion, but it'll go down history as this is a championship reign. Um, so for those who don't know, this was obviously interim match or interim championship match. She will now face Rhea Ripley. Whenever Rhea comes back from injury, they will go head to head in some sort of match to see who actually is the women's champion. So I love it. So I'm assuming um, I'm assuming she's not going to be defending this at all until she faces Rhea. Right. So we'll see.
SPEAKER_05I think she would.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and I think I saw uh earlier today, this is Thursday, August 6th, that Rhea ended up going through surgery or something recently. So she might not even be back for quite some time, too. So who knows? Maybe they peel off that interim tag. Um, that's sorry, the interim title. Um, and just she's just the champ. But yeah, congratulations, yeah. First of all, yeah, give it up so good. So good. I actually I think I tweeted at her and say, congrats, champ. Why don't you come on the show?
SPEAKER_05So and what'd she say?
SPEAKER_03Uh nothing bad. I haven't heard back yet. I'll yeah, I'll keep refreshing. Is that what you heard? Yeah, a little bit. It was like a podcast last week.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, just all by myself.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, man.
SPEAKER_03That was oh, that was another great match.
SPEAKER_05I mean, I didn't know what to expect from it, but so three for three on Gary's Richter scale.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I didn't want to get up again.
SPEAKER_05Well, we go into match number four, Danhausen versus Dominic Mysterio.
SPEAKER_03That's what I thought.
SPEAKER_05Human money is on a pole match, giving very WCW vibes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, that's when I jumped in the pool. I made a burger on the grill. Yeah, I didn't give a fuck at all.
SPEAKER_05And a lot of people are talking about Dom's face coming out to SummerSlam. It looked like he was very annoyed, very upset, very just angry. And I agree too. And I think that's rightfully so.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yep. I mean, he's I think we've all heard the rumors about what's going on with him and his contract and this, that, and the other thing. And then it's like keeping it.
SPEAKER_05Wait, what do you think? What are those rumors? Tell me.
SPEAKER_03No, well, we talked about while like with um the the money and all that stuff that they're sorry, not his contract, but yeah, the money and all that stuff.
SPEAKER_05So with the human monies, the real monies, yeah.
SPEAKER_03The the real, real, real human monies, but it sucks. I mean, he there was a point where he couldn't even hold a microphone even at his waist without everybody booing his ass. It has had such heat, and it was amazing, and just now it's kind of kind of gone to shit since he's not doing what he used to do, he's being tossing these gimmick matches now with Danhausen. I think we're all still a fan of Danhausen, but I think now it's just too much.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, because uh Joe Henry came running out with the guitar and it's like gag me. You have these you have these wrestlers that are ready to go, but are not being used correctly. I think Danhausen was being used correctly. I don't think that Joe Henry's being used correctly. Even um uh what was the knockout's champion um during that era with Joe Henry? What's her name?
SPEAKER_03And she's a WWE Oh Jordan Grace, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Jordan Grace. What happened? Yep, it's like you have these wrestlers that are so good, but then it's like because they not go through the WWE, you know, transplant era.
SPEAKER_03I don't know, but then they weren't an NXT long enough to get properly trained. I think WWE's like, well, shit, we need to get more people up on the main roster. They shouldn't have. And we see this now with still Blake Monroe. Yeah, she's still for three months, four months now, she's still coming soon.
SPEAKER_05She showed up, she showed up on SmackDown, remember?
SPEAKER_03Right. I think she was supposed to have a match like weeks ago, so it's like, why even pull these people up? Send them back down. There's no point. Yeah, I'm not I've not I've never really been a Joe Hendry fan. I didn't get the shtick in TNA. Um dare you the theme song gets to me, I'll it'll get stuck in my head, but I didn't understand the shtick in TNA. I definitely didn't like it in NXT. Um you want to turn him into a Scottish badass and kind of partner up with Drew, like the Scott, something like that. Yeah, cool, but just what he's doing now, it doesn't make sense. And a partner, and just like throw him in now with Danhausen. Judgment Day deserves so much better than what they're getting at this point. Uh, I I feel bad for him. Um, that was my one downer of night two, was that was that match? It was embarrassing.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's and if yeah, it just didn't hit. It just didn't hit. Um moving on, Chad Gable defeated Penta for the IC championship. Yes, that Chad Gable as Gary's clapping his hands over his head.
SPEAKER_03That was cool.
SPEAKER_05It was great. Right there in Minnesota, his hometown. Kids were there.
SPEAKER_03Yep. No, that was great. Great match. Um definitely uh I think we all kind of knew he was gonna win. I think that was the big thank you. Um, but again, now kind of similar to Trick Williams. Like, now what are we gonna see Penta do next? Is he now money in the bank winner? Is he gonna go up to you know world heavyweight championship status? So I'm excited, but Chad Gableman, kudos, kudos to you.
SPEAKER_05Let's bring us to the to the main event or not main event, whatever you want to call this. Roman Reigns taking on Seth Rollins, you know, this is the main event. This was the main event. Because of the tribal chief and the Seth Rollins. Um, so cool. You know, shield music. Your thoughts on that?
SPEAKER_03I kind of wish there was the shield music coming all the way down. I know he's done it before against Roman. Um, but to see it up on the big screen, I'm like, oh, this is fucking great. Oh, yeah, what it came out. I wish it kept going, but I mean they cut it and then he just goes burn it down. I'm like, okay, I was good at it. Good at it, good at it.
SPEAKER_05And obviously, spoiler alert, in case you don't know, Roman Reigns is still the champion. Yep. Defeating Seth Rollins. And yes, uh, a lot of tributes to Dean Ambrose. The dirty deeds, the double arm DDT, uh being mentioned a couple times. Yes. Your thoughts on that?
SPEAKER_03Uh, I don't know when uh Moxley Ambrose, well, I don't know, whatever you want to call him. I don't know when his contract is up with AEW. I think he's also said Hell will freeze over before I ever come back to WWE. Um, I mean, Punk said the same thing. Um we'll see. I don't I think that era, the shield, I think they they did it, they did it right. They did the little fist bump at the end. Um that chapter, I think, is finally closed, whether they face each other again for whatever reason down the road. If they do, I think there'll be zero mention of the shield and everything like that. I think that's dead and buried. But I when shit went down with the ref and all that, I'm like, I was legit waiting to pop out of my seat and see Ambrose come into the ring.
SPEAKER_05Well, you knew he wasn't going to because he was still a part of AEW.
SPEAKER_03True. And thank you, Mr. Uncle Tony, Tony Khan, best friend forever. Yeah, I just don't watch AEW enough, so I didn't know if he's been on the show. I didn't know how his contract is over there, so that's why it's it was kind of exciting. I'm just like, shit, are we really gonna get Ambrose? We saw again those two those two moves, his name had been mentioned, and all of these things. I'm sorry, yeah, it's gonna happen, I think, sooner or later. Uh, I wish it happened last week, but it did not. We'll see. But great match overall. I thought it was really good. Long match.
SPEAKER_05Long match. It was see how long was that match? I had the time. It had to be at least 25 to 30 minutes. Please talk amongst yourself.
SPEAKER_03No, you're not talking amongst but no, again, the the match I think there was there was no interruptions, the no bloodline, no nothing. It was just a straight up.
SPEAKER_0533 minutes and 25 seconds.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yep. Seems about right. It was long. Yep. Damn. I mean, again, great match. Night, night two. I don't know what what's what's yours? What's your grade?
SPEAKER_05Night two, I definitely give it a B plus.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think that's exactly what I put too. B plus.
SPEAKER_05All right, thus taking us into Monday Night Raw. A lot of stuff happening on Monday Night Raw. Yeah. Chad Gable and Pitta defeated Dom Mysterio and JD, the judgment day. Yep. Uh, like whatever of that.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_05We saw Paul Heyman and Braun Breaker kind of have a little segment in the back. What are your thoughts on that?
SPEAKER_03What are we thinking? Yeah, I think the segment kind of started when uh when him when Breaker and Oba kind of passed each other on that ramp, and there was just that stare down. And someone had mentioned it's like Michael Cole's really starting to start, he's setting up where Oba is he's the leader of the new school, if you will. And Bron's like, nah, fuck that. I've been here longer. I'm the leader of the new school, and I think we're finally going to see I think we're gonna finally see Breaker snap. Um, he doesn't look like he gives a shit about you know it's his character, but doesn't look like he gives a shit about being a tag champion, being in the vision, doing any of this stuff. Um, so I'm thinking in a couple weeks, um, we're gonna get Breaker just fucking fed up. I think he's gonna take out Theory, take out Logan. Maybe Bronson Reed comes back that same night. He takes out Bronson Reed too. We can see Heyman's kind of done with the vision. Um, the vision, I think, will just kind of trickle out as a uh as a cursed faction, unfortunately. Yeah, man. Um, but no, I think I think Breaker he needs to be out on his own again. He needs to be that badass that he was when he came in. Um, people were cheering for him very early on when he came in as to be the next world champ. And I think things have happened and he's not going to be yet. Um, but to see now this new rivalry or reheat reheated rivalry with Oba, um, I'm excited. I'm excited.
SPEAKER_05We also saw on Monday Night Raw the return of your girl, Stephanie Vacaire.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I was gonna say somebody else. Who are you saying I thought you were gonna say big cass. Oh but then you say girl, I'm like, oh fuck, who came back? Your girl, man. Stephanie Bacer, yeah. Uh crowd popped. You know, she's been injured for a while, and I think now to see her and you know Becky Lynch now she's back to being a babyface can fucking live, and then to see Steph come out and do her thing. Um, I think the women's division is gonna heat up um a little bit more, so it's good to see Becky back on the babyface side. I mean, she's so great at doing both uh of playing both sides, but to see Stephanie Vacare come back and just kick some ass. And we'll see, we'll see what happens now uh with Liv, who's defended it once in uh one 100 days. I think is that what it is now? Oh, geez.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's something like that. Raquel maybe now twice. Yeah, Raquel as the IC champion. So good for her.
SPEAKER_03I think she deserves that. I mean, now we'll see what happens with Roxanne Perez. She's getting a little pissy. Uh-huh. Always watching the facial expressions. She's just kind of there. She doesn't have a belt, and she wants a belt, she's got to go to SmackDown.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, give her a belt.
SPEAKER_03So we'll see.
SPEAKER_05We also saw the return of Big Cass. Yeah, seven foot tall. You can't teach that. You can't teach that. Uh but no. I know, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Are we getting in zone? I don't know. I mean, the rumors that we've seen for a while was that he is either signed to NXT or PC, or he's training in the PC performance center. Um, I don't know. If it this the fact that Cass came out, big Cass came out as a heel, um, took out Javon Evans, and he came in the back and kind of said, Javon, you know, you were just in the way, it's nothing personal. I'm just here about stacking bodies. I was kind of waiting for Enzo to kind of slide in, but at the same time, Enzo's such a baby face and left as a babyface, so it'd be weird. But fuck, you want to put the two of them together as heels and have Enzo do that uh that that whole spiel as a heel, I think they'll still pop. Oh, yeah. Um, so I'm excited to kind of see what they're gonna do with Big Cass. Um, I don't I don't know what to expect, to be honest with you, but it's good to see him back. He talked about uh you know rock bottom, you know, how long it's taken for him to get back to where he needs his demons, eight years this, eight years that. So I'm happy for him. He's back, and let's just see what he does. I hope he doesn't fucking flop. Yeah, I hope so. Hopefully, they're gonna use him correctly. It all comes down to that. I wish they put him in NXT, to be honest. I wish he started there.
SPEAKER_05Well, there's so much movement on Raw that you do need to fill spots. True, you know, so you have to remember that. Uh, also LA Knight confronted uh Roman Reigns. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then speaking about Roman Reigns, he was also confronted by AAA GM Rey Mysterio.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So Ra will be coming live from Mexico City with Luchadores from Triple A uh actually trying to take on Roman and get a title shot, which I think is gonna be a cool idea. Yep. Um I know some friends were like, let's go, let's go. I'm like, oh I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Mexico City, September 14th. Oh, Raw is on September 14th, yeah, from Mexico City. Yes, so there's gonna be a tournament, right? Of all the time.
SPEAKER_05There's gonna be a terminate terminate, terminate, I can't even see it. Tournament coming soon. I was thinking the terminator, it's Arnold's birthday, by the way.
SPEAKER_03Oh, hey, happy birthday.
SPEAKER_05Hey, happy birthday, Arnold. Dear good friend of the podcast, he loves to listen to it.
SPEAKER_03So SmackDown, Raw, and Triple A. Yeah superstars. I was kind of hoping they're gonna throw NXT or TNA, honestly, in that too, but I actually don't know how many luchadores are in either one of those. But um, yeah, we'll see what happens. I think we all have our our you know, there's two names that come to Penta. Penta and I'll Mystery Guana.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_03No Christ. It's gonna, it's it's gotta be good. I mean, are they gonna go nuts and have Roman lose? No, but I think it's gonna have some great storytelling leading up to, and I think it's great for um the AAA fans of Mexico City to get uh a match like that in September.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's gonna be cool to see that live. And speaking about Mexico, that's where AEW is. They were in Mexico, and uh I just saw quick highlights. Uh I saw our friend Thunder Rosa get get involved in a match. I saw uh Adam Copeland, you know, and Christian Cage defend their championship and winning. Um I don't even remember who they fought.
SPEAKER_03I can honestly tell you I don't know who they fought because I did not watch.
SPEAKER_05I didn't watch all of it, I just saw the highlights on um Instagram. So yeah, so that's kind of like where I'm at with AEW back again. That's a problem. That's the problem. Yeah, it's like they they have to really do a better job, I think, of trying to figure out like how to capitalize and remind us, hey, we're on tonight. But there's so many different accounts, there's so many different things, and it's just hard. It's hard to remember when it's on.
SPEAKER_03But I think we are both just such WWE guys. That too. Where it's tough to kind of either jump to AW. We can kind of get into it here and there. We're more than happy to go to any of the shows that are coming up. Um, it's the same thing. UFC. Like, I can't get into UFC. I'll try if I know the fighters, patty the batty. Let's fucking go. But other than that, I don't care. I don't care.
SPEAKER_05Um, all right, let's see. I'm trying to think what other context we gotta talk about. You've got Graves issues. Oh, that's what he that's what I'm gonna talk about. Corey Graves. Did you hear about Corey Graves? Did you see the videos that are going out there? So during the post show with Joe Tessera. Tesser Tessator?
SPEAKER_03Tessator Tessator.
SPEAKER_05Yep. Um, he's talking about uh who was he talking about?
SPEAKER_03He must have been talking about Cass, big Cass.
SPEAKER_05No, he was talking about somebody else, and he was in the middle of the spot, and Joe interrupted him and was like, all right, well, thanks so much. And you just see him just like almost shut down right away.
SPEAKER_03I did not.
SPEAKER_05I don't know if you remember, Corey left the broadcast booth and was sent home because of his issues with somebody else on the commentating team. Now coming to light, was it Joe? Did he have a problem with him? Because remember, all of a sudden he's gone. And then that's it when they kind of reshifted the con commentating team.
SPEAKER_03And that's when they took him off of Raw.
SPEAKER_05He went to Netflix, he was pulled, and that's when he went that shit crazy. Right. And then there was there was people saying that he had issues with somebody backstage. Is it Joe? I mean, that kind of showed, yeah, it was.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And then fast forward to Raw. When Big Cass came out, he was quiet.
SPEAKER_03A lot of people a whole different subject.
SPEAKER_05A lot of people realized he was really quiet. So it's like, what's going on with Corey Graves?
SPEAKER_03You know, well, I think we all know Corey Graves' history with Big Cass. Um, for those that don't know, Big Cass was an ex-boyfriend of his of Corey's wife, Carmella. Um, I think she had been through a lot with Big Cass through his demons and struggles. Um, she was there for him a lot, and I think it just got you know very toxic. And she left, and of course, she found love in another place with Corey Graves, and they're married and have a couple of kids. So I think it's one of those um where Corey's looking at his wife's ex-boyfriend, um, who treated her like complete dog shit. Um, so you know, he's back in the company, he's a changed man, and I think you know, if Corey's not, you know, it's one of those if you're not gonna say anything nice, don't say anything at all. I think that's kind of just what he did. He would have to be professional, and it was just let Michael Cole do his thing.
SPEAKER_05But if if you you like you said right now, you gotta be professional. How come he didn't chime it? How come he didn't help build the superstars and do his job? How come he didn't do that? Because it ultimately comes down to his job. It's not just Michael Cole, it's gotta be a team, it's a commentating team, not commentator. True, and it's like for him just to be like, hmm, well, everything's happening, you know, sitting there like uh bumping a log. Um, yeah, I I was like, come on, man.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like if that's really the it was awkward, it was awkward for sure. I think I don't think I noticed it as much until people started making a big deal out of it. Because I'm so used to Michael Cole really pushing something that's happening in the ring, especially when they're trying to switch into something else, yeah. You know, so like I I didn't really see what everyone was talking about until more people were like, he didn't say anything like as he's supposed to.
SPEAKER_05So yeah, I don't know. I mean, you go back to the old school days of King and Lawler, one would say something and the other would.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, true. Oh my god, oh my god, a stone call! Ah, don't go puppies, oh let's see the puppies, ah okay.
SPEAKER_05All right. So uh one other thing that we gotta talk about real quickly is Dark Side of the Ring. Have you caught up on Dark Side of the Ring this this season?
SPEAKER_03I actually finally watched the third episode of the Jeff Jarrett. Your thoughts. I started a couple uh okay. Honestly, yes. I never knew Jeff Jarrett was the one that started the TNA. What had no idea? I knew he was part of it. I knew he was big in the bat. I never knew that TNA was his baby. I had no fucking idea. Yeah, okay. Not a clue. So watching this whole thing, especially episode one, I'm like, oh fuck. Okay, I'm learning a lot here. A lot of the stuff like in episode two and three, I knew, but episode one was great because I'm just like I didn't realize it was him and his dad and all this other shit that went on when I knew about the Hogan stuff. Middle 2000s, that what the up until 09. I mean, I think we were all watching TNA. I remember I was watching it in college. I think I was recording it like on VHS tapes, like it was on like Thursday or Friday nights when I'm you know in college. I'm going out on those nights, and I'm recording it because that's prime TNA, that's main event mafia. That's all of these big guys coming in where you could not get any bigger. It was bigger than WWE, I think, at that point. I think that's when I was kind of out on WWE. It just wasn't doing anything for me anymore. But um, no, I thought I thought it was great um seeing Jeff Jarrett on CVV a couple weeks before, hearing him talk about the upcoming episodes of Dark Side of the Ring. Um, I do agree with him. I do wish Dixie Carter accepted the invitation to be on Dark Side of the Ring, so it would have been nice to hear her side. Um, not I don't he didn't bash her at all. He just told it like it is. Um, I think others kind of bashed her a little bit. I think she deserves also to be bashed, but I wish she had the time to come up and say what she had to say about the company and her thoughts on it. But overall, it was great. I've not watched any other episodes, but I was assuming that's uh what you know, the other the big boss fan. I haven't watched any of these.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, big boss fans uh out. Uh coming this weekend is Paul Ondorf, Mr. Wonderful. Um, you don't know who that is? Great know who it is.
SPEAKER_03I just it's before my time.
SPEAKER_05All of it's all of it's before your time. I mean, I even talked about uh I don't know if you were on the show. Did I talk about my TNA, my Dixie Carter sorry? So must it must have been last week. Thanks for listening, Eric. At Towers of PowerPod. You know, circular.
SPEAKER_03Sorry, I didn't get the alert that it was released.
SPEAKER_05Oh, you didn't? Oh, you turned off your notifications, huh?
SPEAKER_03No, no, no, Spotify. Oh, actually, maybe I haven't used Spotify. Maybe it just kind of deleted itself.
SPEAKER_05Uh unbelievable.
SPEAKER_03I need I need uh I need alerts on Apple Music or Apple Podcasts. That's where I listened to us.
SPEAKER_05Well, that's that's yeah, I got my alert.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Interesting.
SPEAKER_03Maybe you guys need to turn it on.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, maybe. Or maybe you should just need to listen and remember where you're at.
SPEAKER_03Maybe I was sad that you did it all by yourself and I wasn't involved.
SPEAKER_05But yeah, all by myself. It's cool. It was a good episode. Most downloaded episode there was. I'm all elite and I'm handling it by myself.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_05So quickly, uh, so those people who don't know, if you listen to last week's episode, you're gonna get a little crash course on what happened. If not, the new story for you. It was about when did Hogan sign? 2009? Yeah, 2008?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was like the tail end of Jared being there.
SPEAKER_05So I had went to I think I oh that's what it was. I see TNA. It was in Irvine, California. And it was uh it was a show and I can't remember what it was. I think it was Bound for Glory there. Anyways, um my friend was working, yeah, it was 2009. Uh it says 2009, Bound for Glory. October. Um anyways, I go to the show, and the show is great, and I'm leaving the show, and I believe that's the same day that I found out about Eddie Guerrero's passing. Walking to the car, that's when I found out. I want to say that's the same day. I could be completely wrong, but I remember walking to the car. I thought from Irvine. Anyways, my friend calls me or texts me. He's like, hey, he was working at like the Hilton or one of the hotels there in Irvine, and he's he's like, hey, all your wrestling people are here. And I'm like, oh, okay. And I'm like, who's there? And he's like, I don't know. He's a bunch of wrestlers and they're all at the bar. I'm like, I'm like, do I need a hotel key to go? No, come. So I show up, right? And I go to the bar. I'm like, let me just because everybody's now geeking out about all these wrestlers who I still don't know. I know the big names that aren't there, but I don't know, you know, at the time, uh, you know, um uh Bobby Rood, you know, he's over there. You know the original originals, yeah. Cowboy James Storm. I'm like, I don't know who these people are. I'm like, I don't know. You know, because again, WWE guy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So I I I'm at the bar and there's like empty seats to my left and right, and I'm just like right in the middle. And this person comes over and she's like, hey, can I sit down? Yeah, go ahead. It's Dixie Carter. And I'm like, oh, I'm like, I'm like, oh, okay. I'm like, hey, how's it going? And like so we start talking.
SPEAKER_03Did you know it was her when she sat down?
SPEAKER_05I knew it was her because I knew you know, there's certain things I did know, but I didn't know like those random, in my in my opinion, random wrestlers, uh like cowboy James Sorbon and Beer Money. And so we're just kind of talking about wrestling, and I was giving her background of what I did and and how I worked in media and worked in radio, and dropped a couple names, and we exchanged info. I got her info, I got her email. Dog you, yeah. I was just trying to get a job.
SPEAKER_01Wolf.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, wolf, wolf. I'm just trying to get a job. So then I'm thinking, I'm like, okay, great. So I waited, I think it was like a couple weeks to email, and so I sent the email. I'm like, okay, I think this is my way in to finally be in professional wrestling. And as soon as I hit send, that's when everything came out about Hulk Hogan. And I was like, oh, well, there goes there goes my money because uh this is a small company and they're gonna take him over somebody like me. Because I was trying to pitch myself, I think I was trying to be either a commentator, ring announcer, something like that, you know, just to be like on the road. But um, yeah, that never that never happened.
SPEAKER_03Damn, I thought you were gonna say she gave you like a fake email account, like uh or like uh at AOL or no, I I wish I wish I could find the email too.
SPEAKER_05If it was in my old phone, but let me see. Damn, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well that would have been great. So that sucks. Damn. Hope Hogan took your spot, man. Yeah, pretty much. Uh they chose Hogan over me.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, anyways, that guy. Um, yeah, so check that out. And anything else, Gary, that we gotta cover No, I mean MXT.
SPEAKER_03Um feel same old down there. Uh we we saw uh Cruz Santana. Oh, yeah, no, cruise cruise Montana, sorry.
SPEAKER_05Oh, that's right, Cruz Montana.
SPEAKER_03Santana. Mike Santana. Um I was I'm not surprised that he's there. Um, I think a lot of people are surprised about the name change. Um, I'm like, what the fuck are we doing? Honestly, someone wrote something on Twitter, and I a thousand percent agree. Um, you sell your name, your your your birth name to WWE, you're kind of screwed. Yeah, um, so I give him credit. He did not sell his Mike Santana name to WWE, even though he's been on NXT and WWE programming in the past as Mike Santana. He is now known as Cruz Montana, which is uh homage to everything family members. So good for that. Um Grayson Waller. Grayson Waller Pipe Bomb. I think better than Punk's pipe bomb. Oh, yeah. I think I think it's the accent. Holy shit. Holy shit. He needed that, man. And I think kudos to him. Um, this was now two weeks ago. Last week he kind of came out again. Um, kind of going back and forth with uh I'm gonna keep calling him Mike Santana, Cruz Montana. Cruz Montana, um, going back and forth. Honestly, some of the shit they were talking, it felt more real than I think it actually intended to be on the show. Um, where Tony D'Angelo was in the ring um while the two are talking, uh obviously outside like in the crowd. And I feel like a rep or someone kind of went to Tony D and said, Hey, fucking cut them off. Chill out, yeah, say something. Um, because Tony D kind of goes, you know what? You two talk to whoever you figure it out do a number one contenders match. Boom, music hits, segments over. So definitely took a turn, but holy shit, man. Grayson Waller. This is this is gonna be exactly what he's needed for a very, very, very long time. Excited to see it. Um, we had Kendall Gray versus Lola Vice uh in the underground match. Uh great match. Um yeah, uh like like your notes say here, gloves were left in the ring. Whose gloves were they? Lola Vice. Yeah, what does that mean? She's she's moving up to SmackDown. Oh, okay. Um, yeah, so I think it's been rumored for a while. Uh, I think as soon as I saw that NXT kind of showed that her parents or her dad was in the um in the crowd again for this, I'm like, you know, she's not winning, she's going up. Um, it's a great call-up. Uh NXT filed the trademark for Vice City, so that's uh her that's her shtick. Um Lola Vice, Vice City. Um, yeah, so I wouldn't be surprised if we see up there tomorrow on SmackDown on August 7th. Um, yeah, after it went off the air, she kind of said her goodbyes. She does this whole shticker, hola nxt, and the whole crowd goes, hola Lola, and then she goes, Adios NXT, and everyone's like, Oh, but Damian Priest came out, who is her in real life boyfriend, fiance.
SPEAKER_05I think boyfriend.
SPEAKER_03Um, so he kind of came out, gave her her flowers, you know, not literally, but kind of hugged her, put her in uh she walked her back up into the ring, handed her the microphone. She did her thing. Um, yeah, I'm excited to see where she goes. Um, again, another former MMA fighter that's uh thriving in NXT, and now hopefully that she doesn't get buried um on the women's side up in uh SmackDown. Time will tell. Yeah, hopefully she's not another Blake Monroe is basically coming soon.
SPEAKER_05Coming soon, one one more episode.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we'll see. Well, your NXT recap.
SPEAKER_05Yay! NXT recap, huh? NXT NXT, all right. Recap. All right, well, I think that's gonna do it for us today. Um, we got to enjoy some stuff. I uh we talked about Unreal on last week's episode, Gary. Yeah, uh, you missed that. Uh we'll recap it next week.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean season one was cool because we've never seen something like that before. Yes, season two, blast, season three. I'm like, okay, we got two episodes on Cena. Yeah. I I was just I honestly was thinking the other day, I'm like, I don't know if I even finished the fifth episode. Now like that I think more about it. I think that's kind of like the mood that I was in, like watching was like it was just it turned into like background. There wasn't as many um like clips and stuff that just go viral. Um like that we had a couple years ago, and Chelsea hinted to it when she won the title. It's like the shout out, you know, Michael Hayes. Exactly. So we didn't get anything like that, no road dog, so meh. Yeah, didn't do much for me.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I have to rewatch it. Yeah, because I was watching it and I'm like, uh it didn't interest me. I don't know what it was, just didn't catch me this time. But all right, Gary, let's go ahead and hit him with some socials.
