Piccolo's wish finally came true! Does that spell doom for our heroes?

SPEAKER_00And we're back. I'm Truman. And I'm Jesse. And this is Becoming Saiyans, a Dragon Ball Rewatch podcast. On today's episode, we watched episode 112 and 113 titled King Piccolo's Wish and Siege on Chow Castle. King Piccolo's Wish came out in Japan on May 18th, 1988, and in America on September 17th, 2003. Whereas Siege on Chow Castle came out on May 25th, 1988, and September 18th, 2003. Differences from the manga and trivia is, Jesse, what about Piccolo and his kind? How many fingers do they have? The scene with the gang at Kamehall seeing the sky turn dark from Shinron's summary summoning is filler, as is the scene where they decide to wait and see who won the battle. In the manga, kill uh Piccolo Bla Piccolo's blast kills Chiatsu instantly, but here Chiatsu's managed to utter Tien's name one last time. Pilaf fantasizing about getting a portion of the world to reign over is filler. Goku explaining more about Korin and Yajrobi's mental image of him is filler. The scene of the farmers asking King Furry to help with their crops is filler. The uh Tien lamenting over Roshi and Chiatsu's death and taking his anger out in a rock, only to realize his only hope is the containment wave is filler. Piloth having reservations about attacking King Castle so hastily, and Piccolo browbeating him into going there is not in the manga. It is implied in the manga that Piccolo dropped Piloth's gang through the hatch that Symbol and Tambourine left through earlier. But here Piccolo makes them go out on the roof of the plane and blows them off while Piloth asks for parachutes. King Piccolo's wish later spawned a character and a later anime version of Dragon Ball. By killing Shinron, King Piccolo may have r saved the world from some other stuff that happens way later in the that same anime that we will get to eventually. When Tien asks Chiatsu to make Shinron or make sh uh make a sh to make Oh, it just says this is this is a spelling error, sorry. The set this says the wish the the wish that T oh it never, I'm reading it wrong. Forgive me. Uh the wish that Tien asks Chiatsu to make to Shinrong before King Piccolo is to make him disappear forever. If that had happened, um there's some other stuff that we find out later that it might not have worked, because you know, stuff that happens that we'll find out about later. This marks the first time Chiatsu dies in the series. One of the f and one of the farmers asking King Furry to for help bears resemblance to an elder from Jingle Village that told Goku that Nimbus Clouds can't be destroyed. On to siege from uh on to siege on Chibu Chao Castle. I don't know what is going on today. I cannot talk. Cannot word. Um Piccolo's kind only has a certain amount of fingers. Piano displaying the layout uh of the world powers only for Piccolo to dis to destroy it out of irritation and boredom is filler. The event of Hing Ferry's 20th anniversary and a resulting parade are only in the anime. Sano being at the event is filler, because in the manga she only appeared with her parents watching Piccolo's announcement about his takeover. Also, Android 8's inclusion is only in the anime. Piccolo and Piano's invasion on the castle is more fleshed out. In the manga, they walk over to the castle gate and he kills a guard and then he's there. You know? Uh here he does a whole bunch of extra stuff before we get there. Opa stating that he's been training uh with his father is filler. Yajirobi and Upa's antagonistic interactions are filler. Uh, as is the former's attempt to leave after he sees there's no foo. Yamcha and the others flying to where dragon balls were last gathered, only to find Roshi and Chiatsu are dead, is only in the anime. In the manga, they don't find this out until after Tien has mastered the evil containment wave and is looking for Piccolo, where Piccolo makes an announcement. Tien tells them about the others' deaths as well as Shinron's at the same time. The scene about comb or the scene of Yadurobi complaining about the climbing of the tower is also filler, and that is all we have. There were no trivia for the second episode. Sounds like it was a pretty much uh fully made up for the anime filler, so it would have been kinda weird to have some trivia there. Some of the parts were nice to like get some insight on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Most of them are useless, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But with that, Jesse, previously on Dragon Ball, Piccolo makes his wish, and it's exactly the wish that he wanted, and it goes exactly the way he wanted it to. He is now young and way more powerful than he was. And before he's able to make that wish, Chiatsu tries to wish him away before being killed by King Piccolo. And that's kind of it for the world, it seems like, because Piccolo flies back up to his ship and flies off. Tien finally wakes up eventually and is like, gosh dang it, they all died. And now I gotta try to learn the evil containment wave and die myself. Um while that's going on, Piccolo is uh or Pilaf is telling Piccolo, hey, can or asking, can we please like get some land for us since we helped you? And Piccolo says, Oh, you want to renegotiate? I've now dropped you off of your own plane. Good luck to you. While that's all going on in the B plot, Goku and Yadurobi finally make it to Corinne's Tower, and they're start their climb, and it seems like they've actually gotten pretty close by the end of the second episode. Um Pila or then Piccolo is attacking one of the the cities. I think they said it was East City. Could be wrong on that. But he's attacking the district that Sinnoh and Ader and all of them are a part of, and it's not going well for everybody there, and that's what you missed on Dragon Ball Jesse. Go for it. It was fun.
SPEAKER_01These episodes were fun. It's not entirely surprising, as it usually isn't so far this ship this during the show, to find out that the second episode was mostly filler.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like, I think the only one that kind of surprises me a little bit is him like explaining how everything's cut into sectors. But I feel like that's filler that you know is good for informing the viewer of what this world looks like a little bit more.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was like the one piece of that episode that I was like, huh, I should probably write that down. Yeah, we both did. Like we we rewound to make sure we had all the stuff right. So yeah, at the amount of sectors and everything, right?
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01So like that's good. And then, you know, some of it was more playful. Just because the second episode's super easy to talk about, I mean, Yajorobi and Opa insulting each other back and forth. Like, that's that's fun and silly, and it didn't go on for an excruciating long amount of time. Like they weren't insulting each other for five minutes. It was like, uh, you know. And Piccolo being a child on Yajorobi didn't mature past Pikachu.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And Piccolo being like his siege doesn't take very long either. It's pretty much over as soon as it starts.
SPEAKER_01And it's one of those things where like it's nice to see more of it, but we didn't see so much that it's again annoying.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I didn't hate I I I'm not like so far this arc is pretty low on my arcs, you know. It's just kinda it feels like we're kind of spinning in mud a bit. But I didn't hate these episodes. You know, I didn't dislike them, I'd even say. I was pretty neutral on them. Um they are higher than the last two episodes we watched. But generally, like so far, these last like four to six episodes are kind of just solid fours to fives, like nothing too good, nothing too bad. Right. They're just what they're just whatever. And so like that's kind of where I am on this one. I don't have a lot of energy to bring to this episode just because it's like they're they're episodes. They're average.
SPEAKER_01I think they just they are bum average. And that's not bad. Every not every episode, I I think we've we've established it multiple times. Not every episode's gonna be really good, and thank thankfully not every episode's gonna be really bad. Sometimes you just gotta watch a few episodes back to back to back to back that are just decently moving things forward. Yeah. Maybe not as fast as you would like them to move forward, yeah, but you are still making progress, and along the way, you're learning small tidbits about this stuff. I think like the 43 sectors.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think this the saving grace is like the world building knowledge. Like we finally have an answer for how this world's like government works, you know. It's all a bunch of monarchies, it sounds like. But, you know, in general, like I like I like learning that because that helps kind of explain what the world is like. And you know, so that I think that's the only saving grace keeping me from ripping these episodes like I did the last two, is just that like at least there's some stuff, there's some value in the stuff that is happening. Yeah. You know, like the fact that they waited until the end uh or until the beginning of this episode to do Piccolo's wish when they could have done it a cut like last episode is frustrating to me. You know, but at the same time I'm not like it's like whatever, you know. But it's just the fact that like the wish goes exactly how it was supposed to the whole time. There wasn't really any interference. Chi Chiatsu wasn't even able to get his words out in time to stop to try to stop him. Yeah. It wasn't even close. It's just like, you know, some of that is frustrating, but I can forgive it because it's whatever, you know.
SPEAKER_01It's also like some of that's the storytelling, like, it's giving you that that hope of like, oh, the good guys are gonna like win, like Chiatsu's gonna save the day. And it's like, no, no, he's not. Like, as soon as he popped around that rock, I'm like, Chatsu's gonna die. Yeah, goodbye, Chatsu. Chatsu's dead. Yeah. It's it's really sad, but you could see it coming from a mile away.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And then Shinron is dead.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's I think that's the the big plot point we need to hit in episode one. Like, there's a couple big plot points in episode two and things where you know, like, well, okay, they're getting close to finishing climbing the tower. Yeah. Piccolo is getting ready to kill this this king. You didn't kill him on screen yet, but you know, he's gonna die.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Because he's definitely not gonna give up. Like, the king isn't going to like bow. He definitely doesn't seem like the kind of king. Let's be totally honest. Even if he did bow, I don't think Piccolo's letting him live. My my thought process is it matters on his on his uh how he bows again. No, I mean like his his uh his Piccolo's leadership style. It sounds real weird to get into. But let's talk about Piccolo's leadership. What are the political leanings of Piccolo? Yeah, what are what is Piccolo's political leanings? Because like if he leans more like he wants structure, maybe he does keep the fluffy king and or the furry king in power so that he can run the run the city with an iron power.
SPEAKER_01I think the easiest way to view this for me is look at what he did to Pilof. Like, because I mean from the from the get-go, any everyone but Piloff could pretty much see that getting anything from Piccolo, any land, even like the swampy the outhouse behind the palace that no one uses. Yeah. Like, was not gonna happen.
SPEAKER_00See, I think that Piccolo would have kept his end of the bargain if Piloff didn't open his mouth asking for more. He would have been like, fine, you could have this one like eight by eight thing. You did help me, whatever. Like, I'm gonna give you the worst part of worst plot the worst plot of land in this world. And that can be yours. That's your kingdom. Go for it. Like, don't don't attack, don't do anything towards me, and I'll let you live there. Like you you can be the king of you, man, shoe.
SPEAKER_01The energy I got from Piccolo personally, though, is just like there was nowhere in the budget for Pilaf to exist in my plans. Yeah. But Pila, he'll like it really felt like he only kept Pilaf around long enough to guarantee that he didn't fail in getting his wish. And now that he got his wish and he's super young and even more powerful, he's like, I don't need you because I know where I know where I'm going now. I got 43 stops on this mother, this dude. And guess what? I'ma take your plane, get off.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like, I don't need you. Yeah. He was he only kept around as long as long as he was even the slightest bit useful.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I just I feel like he would have at least like allowed him to keep the the the the like he would have given him a little bit, you know, like a house out in the middle of nowhere where it's him main shoe and do what you can. I'm not I'll scorch earth everywhere, but I'll stop at this like this line in the sand that I drew. Yeah, and that's it. You get to live there. Congratulations. But it like everything around you is burnt down and everybody else is dead. So congratulations, you're the king of your three. Like, what a lovely existence for you. Yeah. I just I didn't get that from besides that that's beside the point, because it's like Piccolo gets his wish and Pilaf, being Pilaf, is like, give me more please. And Piccolo's like, I barely want to give you what I've promised you so far. Like, I uh quit asking for more. It's like the I've changed the I've changed the deal, or I've altered the deal, pray I don't alter it further from Darth Vader. Literally, it's just like you're pushing your luck, pal. You already pushed your luck, and I conceded the smallest grain of rice you don't get anymore. Um That's how it goes.
SPEAKER_01I mean what are you what are you gonna do? Yeah. But it is funny to watch them, you know, in classic Pilaf style, not get their way. It's like it's like I don't know, Pilof. What did you think was gonna happen?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I mean, I guess like in the short, like if P Piccolo was a nicer guy, like, you know, this could have been really good for P-Loth, but the moment he realized he wasn't, like, you just gotta kinda accept the fact that you've kind of screwed everybody. Shut up. And you've screwed the whole universe with your actions. Congratulations. The whole world. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's like, congratulations, P-Loff, you played yourself. Congratulations. Now everyone is dead, and it's your fault. Who would have guessed that and losing an ancient being of all-powerful conqueration would be a bad idea. And then And then also telling them how to become that all-powerful being again.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. One of one thing that I like about this episode is like there is some comedy in here though. It's like the B plot with Goku and Yajirobe, where like Goku's explaining what corn is, but he's doing a very bad job. He's like, he's a cat, you know? And he's like, he's got big ears.
SPEAKER_01Assuming Yajiro, I I think in this moment it's Goku, assuming Yajirobe obviously knows what a cat is. Which we find out, Yajirobe does not know what a cat is.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's big, he's furry, he has big ears, and he's like, oh my gosh, it's like a giant monster.
SPEAKER_01Like, I don't know, man. I I don't know if maybe Corinne could beat Piccolo, and and Yajiro's like, oh my god, Corrin could beat Piccolo. He must be a giant gorilla monster with like wings and big ears.
SPEAKER_00My next note is now Tien. If Piccolo was a boulder, you'd have him. Because he's like he does destroy that boulder, but that boulder is not piccolo. That was a little jerk I told myself, you know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01The boulder.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. The boulder has qualms about fighting small child. I'm gonna defeat you. The boulder has no further qualms about fighting small child. Um, but I really thought Pilaf was gonna die. I thought we were about to have a have five deaths in one episode.
SPEAKER_01So I literally I wrote down Pilaf's about to die.
SPEAKER_00I wrote down Pilaf about to die.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Pilaf about to die, and then I'm really good at windows as he's like walking the plank, I guess.
SPEAKER_00I'm really good at windows.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And then, you know, Goku shows up, Opa and Bora. Hooray! And they're like, they're all, you know, they're all happy to see Goku.
SPEAKER_00And then we find out Piloth's not dead.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they didn't die, which is nice.
SPEAKER_00Somehow. Somehow Piloth and his gang returned. Somehow Pilaf will return. And then I wrote down for the next episode, it immediately starts with like 43 sectors. Each sector has a king. That's how the world is split up. Apparently there's no wars or anything in this world. We've yet to see any like conflict between the areas.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the only king we've seen now.
SPEAKER_00Is King Furry. It's King Furry. The best king. The furriest king. The goodest king. King Chow or something. The Scotland Terrier.
SPEAKER_01Yep. He's he's super interested in world peace. So much so that as Piccolo shows up, they're celebrating the 20th term of the king with a motorcade. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And shades of Popeville, shades of JFK, as Jesse wanted to point out, to the point where I even wrote it down.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I wrote it down like three times. And the last one being, man, I really wish he'd gotten JFK. It's like they set it up. Like Piccolo's about to pull up in the plane and just laser eyes him straight to the double. You're like, oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_00But then Piccolo shows up and is like, let them celebrate. This will be the last celebration they ever have. Let them have their fun.
SPEAKER_01I'm about to ruin it.
SPEAKER_00And then I got a new line that I'm adding to my adding to my phonetics. No one's eating my beans.
SPEAKER_01Nobody's eating my beans. I wrote that down too. Nobody's eating my beans.
SPEAKER_00Alright, there were two really good lines in this episode, too, because the next one was You Can Shine My Shoes, Big Boy. I wrote down both of those lines. That's for later in the episode. But it's like those are both.
SPEAKER_01That's piccolo delivery in that line.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But there are some fun antics between Opa and Yajirobe just going at each other, you know. But then we see that Sano is in the city, and she's there when the city gets attacked, and she survives, which was very lucky. Um, and she tells everyone about her friend Goku, who is probably going to be able to beat this guy. Meanwhile, Goku is asleep on Yajorobi's back.
SPEAKER_01As Yajirobi, who has been complaining about climbing this tower the entire time since Bora helped Chuck him maybe a quarter of the way up, uh finally sees the top and is like excited and trying to tell Goku what's going on. And then inexplicab I I guess I shouldn't say inexplicably, but gets mad at Goku. You know, the man actively like dying on his back for falling asleep.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And then we also get to see Ader. We can't pass over Ader.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Ader, my boy, he's here.
SPEAKER_00No one's stealing my bees. You can shop my shoes, big boy. I just I just love those lines. Those lines are great.
SPEAKER_01I wish I had more to talk about though, because it's just like it's like it's, you know, especially in the second episode, it's filler, filler, filler plot. Yeah. Plot surrounded by filler, filler, filler, filler, filler. Yeah. But I guess plot. Fidder filler filler.
SPEAKER_00I guess we could talk a little bit about the third part of this episode that we haven't really talked about these episodes, which is the Tien stuff.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00We talked a bit about Tien in the beginning where he breaks the boulder when he was.
SPEAKER_01Basically, basically, like the first episode kicks off with Bulma and Launch, like Launch and them complaining about the sky getting dark. Bulma seeing that the Dragon Balls have now stopped radar showing to them. Which means that they obviously have gone to stone as someone has wished. Yeah, actually don't start showing radar marks until after they reactivated again.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And so then they they all pile in the plane and start flying to the area they were at last.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the area that the balls were in last.
SPEAKER_00And they're kind of musing, like, if Piccolo did it, I guess we'd all be dead, so it must have been Roshi in the gang, because you know Piccolo.
SPEAKER_01Surely Piccolo would have just chosen for everybody in the world to die and him to conquer it. Not knowing that Piccolo wants to conquer people. But yes.
SPEAKER_00I don't want to just wish that you wish the fun stuff away.
SPEAKER_01It's like wishing for eternal life without thinking to the fact that you're gonna have to watch everyone you know and love die.
SPEAKER_00It's like yeah, it's like using AI for creative purposes when you could be using it to do work, you know?
SPEAKER_01It's like or like diagnose cancers. Yeah, it's like, yeah.
SPEAKER_00No, let me let me make this let me let me let me use it to make a short film. The thing I want to do with my whole life is make a short film.
SPEAKER_01Or let me let me use it to make like weird political adverts and make like my enemies poop their pants like little babies and puke and stuff. It's like no.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, it's like for Piccolo, he's like, I could use this wish for anything. I'm gonna use it to have fun. I get to finally do what I wanted to do, which is control the entire like cracking, like cracking his neck, like, oh that's an ewes and the rice cooker can give you such a crack in the neck. But yeah, he he's ready to go. But anyways, Bullman and the gang, when they find Tien who is like devastated by what has happened. Yeah. He's watched his master die. He's caused he in his mind, I mean it is kind of true too, he caused his best friend in the entire universe to die. Like, Chiatsu would still be alive if Tien didn't ask him to go sacrifice himself to make a wish. Yeah. Like, and so Tien is by himself and he's thinking, like, well, I saw him do the evil containment wave, I'm pretty sure I can do that. You know?
SPEAKER_01If I just take some time to really think about it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm sure I can figure out the definitely isn't a technique.
SPEAKER_01you can actively practice because the moment you practice it correctly and it goes off you just die.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But like so a thing I will tell you about this is that like when um it like when like as I do practice it eventually like there are people who practice it. Like when you practice it it does like um you can do it as long as you're not actively capturing somebody you can do the wave part and like you can practice that technique. It's just it only takes the energy it seems that it takes to cap like to capture capture whatever however much energy you need to capture the evil you're fighting. That's how much energy is like taken from you. It's kind of later on that's kind of how it's it's played off, you know?
SPEAKER_01Which means obviously if you're capturing something big enough.
SPEAKER_00If you're capturing something bigger than you you're going to give up all of your energy and then some to stronger and bigger than you so like that is something like TN can just go and practice the technique make the wave happen on like a rock which takes zero energy and he won't die from it. It'll drain him but he won't kill him. Yeah. Um like he can evil containment wave a rock you know like okay I figured it out now let's go do it on the real things you know yeah let's try now um but yeah like Tian has devastated Yajiro or not Yajurobi Yamcha too many wine names. Yamcha's like let's go take him down and Tien's like I'm about to die you're gonna be the last Z you're gonna be the last fighter in this universe that's like a hero that we know of. Yeah that's like a hero that can help you know like you can't you can't go with me. I have to do this alone. I have to like atone for my killing and my I have to avenge my master and my best friend and Krillin and Goku and all of that's on my shoulders now Yamsha it's your job to like hold down the fort.
SPEAKER_01Like I'm the only one who even has an idea of how to do this containment wave. Yeah I've gotta learn how to do it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And that's kinda Yamsha is like fine I don't like this idea but fine and then they you know they go their step or Tien takes the plane and leaves them there stranded. And that's kind of the end of the episodes is that and pick then I think we cut back to Piccolo just like absolutely wiping the floor with the humans which is like of course he is like it's fun to watch but it's like if Goku can wipe the floor with humans like Piccolo can easily wipe the floor with humans. Yeah. But it's fun to watch and you know Sano giving everybody in the town that she's talking to like a bit of hope that like there is somebody out there that I know can beat this guy.
SPEAKER_01Or you know to her knowledge can beat it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah well that's what I'm saying she knows that he can that she he can beat that guy. She doesn't know that he's been killed. That he's already lost he's already fought them once.
SPEAKER_01But as far as she knows he certainly knows she got you know he hasn't already lost to a weaker version of this man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But that's kind of that's kind of the episode. Yeah you got any more notes that you have that you're hiding over there that I don't didn't mention? No, I mean everything everything else like you f you did it. Okay. You could shine my shoes big boy I just I love that line it's so good. Um but yeah I mean then I guess we'll just jump into the prediction section for the rest of the episode we are talking in this one that you say that King Piccolo will make his wish. Jesse you're wrong. I'm just kidding regular Piccolo, he's not a king yet he hasn't conquered your kingdom yet um but then you say he won't but it'd be funny if he came a baby you did like preface that as like it wasn't going to happen so that doesn't count as a prediction but it would have been hilarious if it did happen.
SPEAKER_01I'll just cheering I'm like please be a baby it'd be so funny if he becomes a baby and that's it.
SPEAKER_00And then he started getting bigger and you're like oh well you know.
SPEAKER_01And then I held on to the hope that maybe they're gonna Benjamin button him they're gonna chick him.
SPEAKER_00And he starts going like he gets smaller as the time goes.
SPEAKER_01No he just became a really big buff dude.
SPEAKER_00And then your last one was that the the Chow castle was going to be where Chiatsu was from and there's no inkling of that being true. Jesse dropped a bottle on the ground in case you're wondering what that noise was. But there is no there is no showing no scene or illusion of that being true that Chiatsu's there's our thing it could be from there but we don't like there's no showing that that's the case. Yeah. So I'm gonna count that as a no um so Jesse the last or the next two episodes not the last two we still got a few episodes before we're at the end. Yeah a few yeah we'll be on 114 115 and we end at 122. So we got a few more episodes before the end of this song I think about was that 8 to 10 ish. Give or take um but the next episode is called Conquest and Power that's episode 114. And 115 is Awaken Darkness. What do you think those two episodes mean Jesse?
SPEAKER_01So you said Conquest and power?
SPEAKER_00Conquest and power and then the next one is Awakened darkness.
SPEAKER_01Well I think Conquest and power it's pretty obvious that like Piccolo finishes off the king we're on and then just begins to go, you know, on a conquest across all the other kingdoms very quickly amassing strength and then the power is Goku and Yajirobi get up to corn and like start learning how to like get stronger or whatever. Okay. That'd be my guess. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Goku and Yajirobe start gaining new power start basically just start training with corn. Okay. And then what about Awaken Darkness?
SPEAKER_01Awaken the darkness is interesting it could be maybe they like awaken maybe Tien like awakens the darkness in himself to like power himself up or something. Because I I feel like Tien's gonna be a part of at least a couple these episodes maybe you flash back and forth to him or maybe he's the reason why it's name that it's either that or like you know I mean only other two options are like Goku Rajarobi Awaken their darkness and face their fears to get stronger or Pegolo just awakens more darkness across the world.
SPEAKER_00So which one do you think it's gonna be you gotta put down one prediction.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna go for the Hellmarine say TN.
SPEAKER_00Say TN? TN repeat it one more time.
SPEAKER_01TN like does the same thing I said with Vergoku like they he awakens with the power to try to like I have this darkness he holds inside of him to try to better control the evil containment wave because maybe maybe you have to understand your own evil to use it effectively. I like it I like it's a guess you know that's a very martial artsy guess. So Jesse with that being done what is your worst part of these episodes as much as it kind of sucks to say it's kind of like even as a first time viewer how semi-boring they are like like inter enough interesting stuff happens that you're still like invested but compared compared to like how sometimes these episodes in other arcs have been in the past like they're not very exciting. Yeah. Like the most exciting parts are oh is Chaj oh no he's dead or it's like oh is is this VC guy gonna put up a good good fighting spicolo no he's dead.
SPEAKER_00No he you're gonna jump up but the Oh is is Yajiroby gonna leave?
SPEAKER_01No he stays.
SPEAKER_00Yeah for for me I I agree I think the better way of explaining it is that like in the other arcs like the un the the world isn't at stake you know the stakes are so high for how little the things are happening you know like the world is going to burn at the hands of Piccolo.
SPEAKER_01And we're wasting meanwhile as much as I don't want to say it's wasting but we're wasting two minutes on Yajurobi and Opa making silly faces at each other and ways away from calling each other poop pee pee heads.
SPEAKER_00Yeah what was it like a half half half half nitwit or something you know like half half foot tall knitwit or some some crap. It's like yeah like we're this world is about to come to their knees at the new threat that is gonna destroy everything. And Goku like not it's not Goku's fault because Goku's messed up and he's he's got a plan but we're spending so much time getting that plan to happen.
SPEAKER_01Like I do get and like appreciate two people died basically in the last three episodes. Two very important main characters died in the last couple episodes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah and we're gonna need to give him a bit to breathe.
SPEAKER_01Let's give people a bit to breathe but Tian a chance to grieve as he like learns we're kind of going overboard in how slow these two episodes advance the story and plot to my to my liking obviously you know maybe in a couple episodes it makes more sense why they went so slow or whatever. Yeah but like at least going in completely blind and not knowing what the next what 40 somewhat episodes of this series goes like is what 152 or something like that. Like it just feels needlessly slow.
SPEAKER_00Yeah and that's kind of my thing again it's like in the other arts when there were slow moments it wasn't the world was at stake. It was you know it was we need to get the dragon balls or there's a tournament going on. And we're just in between fights right now. Yeah it wasn't there's a guy that has the powers of like a god and that's going to kill everyone on this planet. Like there's a difference between those levels it's oh no what is Tien going to do to Goku when he gets a hold of him in the tournament or oh no the Red Ruben Army's gonna get a Dragon Ball.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if anybody around here anybody listening to this has watched uh Brand New Day already but like this isn't a small potato this is a big potato this is why why are we watching two small potato episodes yeah no for sure that's a perfect way of putting it this is a big potato event and you are treating it like it's small potatoes. Like come on guys we could go a little bit faster.
SPEAKER_00Yeah um but yeah but I mean there isn't like a standout bad thing in any fact that they are just kind of dull you know like like for all sets and purposes am I hating on anything that happens in this specifically like no most of the like most of these episodes are enjoyable like they are they are fun moments and and fun things to watch the problem is like these would be really fun moments 30 to 40 episodes ago. Yeah but now you know what maybe we should focus more on you know killing this guy yeah or stopping him at the bare minimum like um like punching him back with enough force to do something yeah so there I think for as far as best parts we've only got about two options here I think I've named both of them already no one's eating my beans or you can shout my beers big boy unless you got an honorable mention or another one.
SPEAKER_01Because Yajorobi's old Yadobi's gotta probably be at least you know 25-30 years old if I was to throw a number on it but he never matured past being like a six year old kid. And so like they're showcasing the fact like yeah your Jirobi's not a mature person. He might be in a mature body but he's not a mature person. Yeah like like that's that I guess that's an honorable mention.
SPEAKER_00I mean you can take that if you want like I'm just throwing I threw out my two main options that I had that's my honorable mention. I think I think I'll take beans because you seem like you really love you can shy my shoes big boy that might be our new sign off is you can shama shoes. You can shama Goku big the journey continues and you go instead of going bye you go you can shama shoes big boy no I'm I'm joking we won't change it but I I do really love that line anytime I run across somebody in that in you know in life every once in a while somebody's trying to beat you trying to be with you is like you can shut my shoot and before you get before you get big boy out he punches you in the face anime and people punch people when they're expositioning in the middle of a fight.
