Public High School Is Bad, But Elementary Is Fine…Right?

We know that state schools teach humanism. “Man is God.” Transgenderism is the natural fruit of that religion. But it’s just the high schools…right? There’s no Nietzsche in 1st grade. Kindergartens don’t have transgender bathrooms. So aren’t state grade schools safe? Kevin and Danny answer with the first five questions of the children’s catechism, contrasting these with what kids learn in grade school – things like “Follow your heart,” and, “You can be whatever you want to be…”

This is Generations Kevin Swanson with you, and this news story from Oregon. I've just come back from Oregon. A land of transgendered kids, body piercing tattoos. We saw it everywhere. Homosexual governors, lesbian mayors, lowest birth rate in America, highest abortion rates. And they have one issue on the ballot this year so far voting on banning the killing of all animals, elk, fish, bugs, beetles, and mosquitoes. And on and on it goes. That's Oregon. By the way, based on our evil index, Oregon is the worst state in America. Colorado is number two, and then New Mexico and California and so forth. So the Wall Street Journal covered the story this week. And then City Journal jumped on it. And I quote, listen, a study recently published in Research Connections drew attention for finding very high rates, relatively speaking, of puberty blocker and cross-sex hormone uptake among adolescents in Oregon. Using insurance data for minors ages 8 to 17 between 2016 and 2023, that's pretty recent. The authors of the recent research connections study found that about one in 240 girls and one in 630 boys in Oregon were on hormones by age 17. In addition, 1% of minors, 1.5% of girls, and half a percent of boys received a transgender-related diagnosis, typically gender dysphoria, during those years. In other words, about one in every 65 adolescent girl in Oregon is a potential candidate for medical sex reassignment. Also of note, the median age of diagnosis in the study was, get this, only 14 years of age for both boys and girls. To put these uh figures into context, when the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders was published just in 2013, this would have been what, 12 years ago, it reported a diagnostic prevalence of gender dysphoria among adults at 0.002% and 0.003% for females and 0.005% to uh 0.014% for males. This means that diagnosed teen girls and boys in contemporary Oregon thus represent a rise of respectively more than 530 times the prevalence of pre-2013 figures. I mean, that's called a statistical increase. That's huge. That's that's a massive, massive explosion of this uh transgender stuff for 14-year-olds. Last year, a study published in JAMA Pediatrics reported that approximately one in a thousand American teens was prescribed cross-sex hormones by age 17, but the Oregon rate was two to three times higher than that. Indeed, a closer look at the data revealed that hormone prescriptions in Oregon were four to five times the national rate among 14 and 15-year-olds, while puberty blocker uptake was up six times the national rate at age 14 in Oregon. Those teens in Oregon are not only being medicalized more, but also at earlier ages. And a few years ago, the Manhattan Institute obtained a national all-payers all claims insurance database covering the years 2017 to 2023, almost exactly the time frame of the research connection study. And uh, this database has enabled uh to estimate the uh incidence of gender transition double mastectomy among teen girls. And this is a bare minimum of 5,200 procedures during those years, and the persistence of transgender-related diagnoses, most adolescents lost the diagnosis within seven years. Now, now, folks, what is this? Folks, they're cutting off the breasts of teen girls by the thousands in Oregon. I just said it. It's ghastly, it's macabre, it's extremely evil, it's devilish, it's heinous, insane, grotesque. I mean, it's beyond words. What is this? And here's my question. This occurred to me just this morning. How important is it that we know this stuff? That we share this horror movie content? I mean, how important is it that righteous people stand up and protest this unprecedented moral travesty? If there were righteous people left in Oregon, should they protest this with everything that's in them? It takes faith to stand up and protest this in the strongest of terms. I mean, we should we just need to say this. Extremely evil people are cutting off the breasts of tens of thousands of little girls in the state of Oregon and Colorado and Maine and other states. Did Adolf Hitler sanction this kind of macabre cruelty? It's just grotesque. Christian men should run for office and change the laws. It's time to fight back. I mean, parents that do this kind of thing should go to prison. Or restitute by significant fines, and doctors that do this kind of thing should should go to prison. Plain and simple. Or restitute by significant fines. Teachers, same thing. The Proverbs, the Proverbs in the Bible speak to this, to what we should do. Open your mouth for the speechless and the cause of all who are appointed to die. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy. And Proverbs 24, deliver those who are drawn toward death and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, surely we did not know this, does not he who weigh the hearts consider it? And will you not render to each man according to his deeds? Now, thankfully, 48% of the population in America, or actually 25 states, have issued laws prohibiting this kind of behavior, but that's still not quite the majority of the nation. And not to forget, guys, this is only the tip of the iceberg. There's an entire worldview that is releasing this nightmare into the modern world. The entire iceberg actually needs to be dynamited to smithereens. Now, the first thing you got to remember is Oregon has also just about the highest abortion rate in the country as well. So the nation that cuts off the breasts of 14-year-old girls are killing babies by the millions. This nation kills 18 million children a year. And of course, if they're killing 18 million children a year, they're going to sexually abuse the kids and cut off the breasts of these kids as well. Unless the nation stands up against the abortion problem, I don't think these uh moral travesties will be taken care of. And here's the even more fundamental issue, and this is where I want to get to today. The more fundamental issue. See, the U.S. government has sanctioned a religion in the public schools called humanism. All right? Now, what are the tenets of this religion? Here's what it is. Okay, man is God. That's the tenet. Man is God. God is not God. Somebody's gonna be God. Something or somebody is gonna be God. And so the public school said, okay, we're we don't want Allah, and we don't want the Christian God, and we don't want any of these other gods, but we do like the idea of man turning himself into God, and that will be the religion of the public schools in America. And it's been that way for since the 1960s. And here's what happens the God man, the god-like man, the god-wannabe man, chooses his own morality. He defines his own existence, man defines his own truth. And he gets to the point where he defines well everything about him his own sexuality and his gender. Man defines his own everything. And remember, transgenderism is the highest form of morality for the religious man-centered, man-worshipping humanist. Transgenderism is the holiest of the holy grails of this modern religion of gender and sexual autonomy and rebellion against Almighty God. So it's the very apex of humanism to define one's own ethics, sexuality, and gender. Once you've established the state religion, this is where you're going to go. Now, we take away the capstone of transgenderism in the temples of these government-funded public schools, and the religion of humanism starts to fall. That's that's why they're so panicky right now. It's not the transgendered bathrooms and the surgeries that are as much the issue. That's the 1% of the tip of the iceberg. It's like 1%. It's a 1% problem. That's what they say. Well, it's the humanism assumed and taught in the literature class, the history class, the psychology class, the science class that makes the the difference. The bad worldview has infected the whole system, eventually will give birth to transgenderism. Now you remember the congressional hearing last week, I think we referred to it, a certain congresswoman, a homeschool mom, by the way, whom we know very well, she chastised the head of the UCLA medical school, the highest position of science education in the country, because this scientist could not say whether a man had a uterus or not. The educational system, friends, has embraced irrationality. God has given them up to an insane mind. The system is broken, the worldview is wrong, the foundations are cracked, and the building is jacked. So, all right, that's one reason not to send your children back to school this fall. Parents, do you do you really want your children to be thoroughly indoctrinated in a secular humanist worldview as dictated by the U.S. Supreme Court? As is now run by the most insane people in this worldview of irrationality? Do you want your kids into that system for the next 16 years of their lives? Red state parents, they send their kids off into blue state K-12 schools and blue state city universities, and and their kids come back tinged blue and they say, What happened? They've been doing that for a hundred years. Now what we say is, how about a plan B? How about how about something different? Let's how about we not do that? Anybody? Anybody on board with us? Let's let's let's not do that. Today Danny Craig joins me in studio. Any more reasons to go back to school or not go back to school this fall? But Danny, I can hear people come back to us and say, yeah, but yeah, but we live in a school district down in Tennessee in which with Christian teachers and they're not teaching LGBTQ ideology. There are no transgender bathrooms there. And you talk about, yeah, the humanist schools, but we're not hearing this man choosing his own existence, his own morality, his own sexuality. They're not teaching Nietzsche to first graders. We're not teaching Nietzsche to first graders here. It might be affecting the high school evolution in the high school biology class, but not so much, not so much with the first and second graders. So we're actually doing okay.

Well, I've got a question for that parent. Are they teaching the children the fundamental questions of biblical theology and anthropology in the shorter boys and girls catechism? And if they're not, if they're not getting there in those classrooms, I don't think they're doing a good job.

And Danny, let's say this also they're always teaching something in terms of a fundamental worldview. In other words, there's there is some form of existence that is more important than other forms of existence. Does God show up at all? Right. Is God relevant? Is God significant in the life of these children, in the readers, in their math program, their science program, their literature program? Always there's assumptions in terms of what is real, what is important, what is significant, what is right and wrong, what is the basis of right and wrong? I mean, you think about pop culture itself. Uh yeah, have you ever watched any of these children's movies that they most definitely are not expressed in the first five, six questions of the children's catechism?

Yeah, no, you're hearing uh all day long children are being catechized in a in another religion. Um, follow your heart. Follow your heart. The answer is inside you.

Trust your gut. You can be anything you want to be. Oh my goodness. Have we ever thought about that showing up in a first grader or second grader or third grader book? And do you think that might have any correlation to a teenager's decision to do the things that you were talking about in the introduction? You can be anything you want to be.

You can be your self-made man. You can define your own reality, purpose, existence, et cetera, et cetera. Nothing rooted in God.

They don't say it in those philosophical terms, but how about this from Frozen? Have any first graders, second graders, third graders watch Frozen? Do you think? No right, no wrong, no rules for me. Right. They're being catechized, absolutely being catechized every day in that Tennessee school, whether it's by the textbooks or by their peers, maybe sometimes even Christian teachers who don't have a fundamentally biblical worldview. And they're getting a religion, and it's called humanism.

And what you said is that let's be sure that the first five, six questions of the young children's catechism, and and this is actually a fairly common catechism that's out there. I'm hoping that most of our listenership have picked up on this catechism. Yeah. Why don't you go over these questions? First six ones. First six first.

And and and these questions are so powerful, Kevin, because they represent the opposite of the humanist religion. And I'm not kidding when I'm saying these questions should form the heart and soul, the warp and the woof of a Christian education program. Number one, who made you?

Well, God.

God made me.

God. But the humanist answers that differently. The humanist says, We're not going to say God. No. We're going to say we're the self-made man. We can be whatever we turn ourselves into. Exactly. Right? It's the self-made man, which is effectively the existentialist form of humanism from John Paul Sart. But that's probably not going to, you know, John Paul Sartre probably not going to be quoted in the first grade reader, right?

I think they would have a problem with the cover to the science book that we have on the table here. God made me. God made me. I think they would have a problem with that.

That's fundamental.

That probably would not show up in that Tennessee classroom.

Oh, yeah, yeah. You're right. You're right. Because it's against the law. This would be absolutely against the Supreme Court of the United States dictate that comes down from 1963. You can't do this. But but for us, we must answer the question properly. Otherwise, we're deceiving our kids. And how many kids are being deceived? Because they're not being told in their first grade or second or third grade science, God made you.

And he made you for his own glory, not for your own self-determination, not for your own self-fulfillment, not for your own self-actualization. Go ahead and question questions one more time. Number two, what else did God make? Well, God made all things. God made all taught.

Yes. So I can still remember that. Yes. I don't even have to look at the answers.

And that's the title God made all things. Our first grade science. God made everything. God made everything. See how it shows up fundamentally in first grade, second grade, third grade, fourth grade? It sounds like worldviews matter. Yes. For first graders. Exactly. Number three, why did God make you and all things?

For his own glory. Well, my kids would say at three years of age, they say for his own gory. Yeah, gory. Okay. But for his own glory, right? Yeah. For his own glory. But man wants to glorify himself and think about how much school pride and being proud of your own achievements is really the chief end of all education today. Have you ever heard of school pride before? Yeah.

Or have you ever seen that Tennessee school give God the glory? And you know, I like to use this illustration of teachers need to stand on their desks, raise their hands, and worship and sing to God be the glory, great things He has done in the science classroom.

But they don't do that. They don't do that. They don't do it. Um, and and this is where we could bring up the subject of math. You know, people might say, well, surely, you know, the catechism questions you're articulating here don't have any relevance to do with math. Like, you know, that's a completely neutral subject. But look at this the cover of this math textbook, math for God's purpose in numbers. And what we say is God's purpose in numbers is for his own glory.

To give God the glory. To give God the glory. And we say sub in a subsenient uh that we are his servants and we are to take dominion of his creation by using the tool of math. So it's it's it's it's a double purpose. Yes. But ultimately, for his glory, we use math for the glory of God.

And and that's true of history as well. History is not a series of random chance events and you know, sound and fury signifying nothing. No, it is the story of God glorifying himself in history. Um, the fourth question.

Let me show some of these because I I mean here here we have taking Africa for Jesus, taking Asia for Jesus, taking the Americas for Jesus. Ultimately, it's about Jesus and to give Jesus the glory and to build the kingdom of Jesus for the glory of Jesus. He's at the center of history. If God is not at the history, center of history, and if we can't say for of him and through him and to him are all things that have ever occurred in history to the glory of God, amen and amen. If we can't say that Romans 11, 36 passage, which by the way is my favorite Bible verse, then uh then we have a wrong view of history. And so I'm again, if you're going to teach history, be sure, be sure, be sure that you give Jesus the credit and the glory for what he has done in 2,000 years of history. Be sure, absolutely be sure that Jesus appears on the front page, right there on the cover of your history books. We put Jesus pretty prominent. I like to ask people, who's the most important person in history? You know what? Every crowd, every crowd I've ever spoken to says Jesus.

Yes. But does that show up in that Tennessee classroom in first grade?

Does it show up on the cover and does it show up on almost every page? Because he's preeminent in all things, right? In fact, that's what Ephesians 1 says is that he is preeminent in all things, which has to me all things pertaining to history.

Yeah. And so this is why we study history, uh, because we are intent on knowing and studying and then magnifying and communicating the glory of God. Um, question number four how can you glorify God by loving him and doing what he commands?

That seems like it's diametrically in opposition to, you know, man being autonomous. Man determining his own ethics, his own sexuality. And uh so, you know, at the end of the day, if your Christian material is not presenting the commandments of God and teaching your children the commandments of God, if that's not really working its way into the kindergarten curriculum, and Danny, you know that probably the core element of our uh kindergarten curriculum is going to be teach me the faith. This is by far our most popular product, because tens of thousands of families are saying, we have got to teach our kids scripture memory. And and scripture memory that addresses the nature of God, the nature of man, but the law of God. Here's what is the first and great commandment, what is the second commandment, what is the first uh second commandment, third commandment, fourth commandment, five, fifth commandment, et cetera. Uh, how does God say we should speak of him? What does God say about obeying your parents? What does God say about marriage? What does God say about taking other people's things? You know, you shall not steal, et cetera. Teaching the commandments of God and going through the fundamental of what the word of God has to say about ethics, really.

Well, and and Kevin, this question uh number four really defines the whole purpose of education, which is to become equipped to know, to love, and to serve the Lord, right? And so the whole idea of uh a life prepared for dominion taking, for advancing the kingdom of God, that's the whole point of what we're trying to do here with education. And so that's why we're coming back again and again to the whole idea of life application in in this curriculum. What does it look like based on what you've just learned to now apply that to your life and love and obey God?

And Danny, I think every parent needs to ask themselves, why are we doing this? Yeah. Why are we why are we teaching our children math and English and all these other subjects? And I think the teach the person that does the delegation of the education to a public school or a private school, you need to ask the teachers, you need to ask the administration, why are you doing this? What is the purpose? What is the fundamental beginning of all knowledge and wisdom? That is, of course, the fear of God. Uh, but also the purpose of it is the purpose of all of this is to know God, to love him, yeah, and to serve him. Yeah. And if they don't answer that question rightly, walk out. Right. Two words. Walk out.

Number five, why ought you to glorify God? Uh, because he made me and he takes care of me. Now we're back to God made me. Yeah. Uh, but we're also to understanding the goodness of God. Uh, what has God done for me? What are his uh gifts to me in creation as we study science? What is the blessing of God in the created order and the beautiful things that he has given us in the mountains and the sunsets in the little insects? Um, how do I see everything around me as a gift of God and his kindness towards me? And then that ought to then motivate me back to what we just discussed. Well, now I want to glorify God. So when we teach children that perspective, here's the world, here's what God has made, here's what God has done, and he's done it out of his love for us. Now we're back right to, so how do we glorify him? And then this sixth question uh, are there more gods than one? And I think this is the uh, this is the the big answer to humanism. There is only one one God.

And it's not you, and it's not you. And that's pretty basic. That's pretty basic.

Well, friends, I tell you what, um, you're gonna pick this worldview or that worldview, and it's just not a neutral thing. It's gonna be one thing or the other. Now, I'm gonna throw in one more question that is this, because we've gotten three. The basic questions of creation, of metaphysics, reality of who God is, etc. And once you get that through that in this children's catechism, uh we get to question 14 where it says, where do you learn how to love and obey God? So you know, all that we're doing in this curriculum, in this educational program, is to learn to love God and to know God and to obey God and serve Him. Where how do we learn this? What's the basic fundamental foundational source of all of our truth? And that has got to be not science actually, but in the Bible alone. So, and that's why God's big story is our fundamental reading program. Yeah. It's where we begin. We begin with God's truth, God's story, uh, God's revelation. And that's that's that's important. That's fundamental to our reading program. And we don't we don't take this as a subsidiary to our curriculum, as if, oh, here's what we were attacking on as a Bible curriculum. A lot of curriculum will do that. We don't do that. We embed it right into the middle of it and say, that is your reading curriculum, the Bible, the scripturated, authoritative word of God. That that's where we're starting on this.

And Kevin, it's not just the reading curriculum. We have literally hundreds, if not thousands, of Bible verses integrated into all of the subjects, into science, into math, into history, into literature, because we see the word of God as the interpretive lens, the eyeglasses through which all of these subjects may be and must be rightly understood.

So if if you're working for the Tennessee uh kindergarten program out there in a public school system, uh you can contact us for this curriculum. And it's let's just leave it with that. Now, the difficulty, of course, is the Supreme Court of the United States doesn't allow for this. So it might be illegal, you might get through the case. It could be illegal. Yeah, you might you might get the ACLU down your throat and then you're kicked out of the school district. But but this is essential for a Christian education. Why why is this? Why would you say this is essential? That maybe not maybe not, you know, our variety of it, but this worldview. Why is this worldview so essential for every Christian parent in America?

It's the essence of a biblical theology, who God is, and the biblical anthropology, who we are, and who God has made us to be, and and and what our purpose is as God's creatures. And and Kevin, I what I what I think is helpful here is we talk a lot about it about a lot of different things at generations, Bible integrated curriculum, God-centered curriculum, life application. Um, what we're really trying to get back to is a different religion, the true religion, with God at the center and a biblical anthropology flowing out of it. And I and I think these catechism questions summarize beautifully the essence of what we're trying to do. We didn't invent this concept. This is just comes from the Bible first. Us trying to apply uh these these basic uh theological principles. And so our encouragement is regardless of whether or not you use generations or not, make sure that this year in your homeschooling endeavors, you root all of your educational endeavors in these seven questions. Who made you? God. What else did God make? All things. Why did he make you in all things for his glory? How can you glorify God by loving him and keeping his commands? Why ought you to glorify him? He made me, he takes care of me, and he saves me. Are there more gods than one? No, there is only one God. Where do you learn how to love and obey God in the Bible alone? I think if any parent uses that as the foundation for their educational program, God will bless that. And by God's grace, we will pass on the faith to the next generation.

And Danny, I truly believe we are in a life and death struggle for the hearts and souls of our children in this generation. There has been a deceptive, a horrible worldview shift that's a satanic deception that's been uh imposed upon uh hundreds of millions of kids around the world. Yeah. And some 50, 60, 70 million children across America, of which, you know, 50 to 60 percent of these kids and these parents still confess themselves to be Christians. And yet they're giving their kids a a worldview that is counter, a basic view of life, uh, origins, themselves, uh, reality, ethics, salvation, everything. It's they're giving the wrong message in in these schools across America. And uh and so you know, this this to me is a massive issue. This this is probably the greatest battle of our generation. Yeah. I mean, am I saying that just because I happen to be part of this ministry, or you know, and you know, it's interesting. I was reading Augustine's City of God, and he refers to this. He says, there will be a time in history in which the devil will be released to the point where he will do his best to capture the institution and capture the hearts and minds of the next generation. Then at one point, and this is again a city of God, he says, it will take the most resolute parents to enter this battle and to snatch their children from the claws of the devil himself. And Danny, I mean, this may not be the final battle, but it is a massive battle right now for the hearts and minds of our children in this generation. And friends, that's why generations is passing on the faith. That's what we're about. Yeah. It's a burden, it's a prayer, it's a passion. Ultimately, it's in the hands of God, but also we as parents have an obligation to step in there and be faithful to this charge.

But uh, but yeah, take a few homes with you, see if you like them, see how they work, and uh, and maybe they'll give you a little bit more vision for how you can best raise your children for Jesus in this generation.
