SPEAKER_03I was about to say, bro, this is we're talking about a movie where that is like pretty uh on the nose. You got a pressure thing going on over there?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, something my ear started ringing right as we started.
SPEAKER_03Should I turn this AC off?
SPEAKER_04No, I don't uh maybe. Yeah, go ahead and turn the AC off. We gotta get hot in here. I can't perform unless I'm sweating.
SPEAKER_03That's true, dude. Part of it is the physical strife I'm under if that helps me.
SPEAKER_04You used to, you you you invented the show in the den. Um what was it? Comedy beast?
SPEAKER_03The old Comedy Beast show that's still running. Shouts out to Comedy Beats.
SPEAKER_04Were you were were your balls always just sticking to the side of your leg when in the den? Holy fuck. Or did they have air conditioning back in the gap?
SPEAKER_03Well, they back in the day they did have some AC. Where like, but the thing was I had to get my ass there like two hours before the show and ask for the key because they wouldn't keep it on.
SPEAKER_04That's still what's going on. That they're still doing that. I want you to know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. But I got there two hours early, yeah, because I didn't have shit else going on really, and would get there so I could unlock, like, I need that to unlock this so you can get some guys, it's gonna be. But of course there didn't work every time, and sometimes, yeah, it was hotter than a bitch's broad strap.
SPEAKER_04I think I just inherited a show at uh the den, so maybe you can make your triumphant return to the den to your.
SPEAKER_03Well I've done I've done Beast before. I've been since I've done I've been back.
SPEAKER_04You know what? But for the story of my show, you're making your absolutely that wasn't the real me that went to the real me is coming to you.
SPEAKER_03That was a past lives you. Hey, you that was a past life me. Yeah. Just I was doing I was doing fine. Now I'm doing great. Right.
SPEAKER_04You didn't have the pod in past life. No, I did not have a pod then. Not the fucking real shit. How many lives do you think we lived to get us to pod? It has to be more than the married, wouldn't you say? Yeah, no.
SPEAKER_03Our layers and layers are so much more, thousand layers of life. No, it takes three thousand, I think, to make a pod.
SPEAKER_04No, because it takes eight thousand to get married. Oh, then 14 to 15,000 at least. So too.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god. Dude, past lives. It's an interesting idea, Pin Yun. But no, I mean, I think we had that pod. We definitely have rode in a battle together in a past life, you know what I mean? For sure. Definitely had that going down. I feel like there we definitely did some weird stuff like as dinosaurs. Might have done some like, we might have had our own like uh tail like land before time style journey.
SPEAKER_04No, we were podding as dinosaurs too. Dude, little pod. Look, we're the more fake news.
SPEAKER_03Fake news from chicken little over there.
SPEAKER_04We were we were Republican dinosaurs.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, dude. Look, because we get dinosaurs are Republicans, dude. Look at all these T-Rexes and shit running around.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. You make it you bring you always bringing up valid points.
SPEAKER_03It's all about the individualisms. You know what I mean? That's what makes them so Republican. Not a lot. But those little ones that spit the acid, those are socialists. Yeah, for sure. They band together. Do you think that would be us, or would we be the Republican dinosaurs? I think we had to had a chance at both. That's what makes our brains so expansive. We're able to see everything. Because I think we had time as a T-Rex. I think we had time as a like a little acid spiller, or maybe even a dodo bird. You know, we could have been a bird. What was that one thing they said? A bird and a branch that they said on?
SPEAKER_04I don't I don't know much about dinosaurs. They got that new dock out, the dinosaur dock. There's a new dinosaur dock out? Yeah, apparently it's pretty good.
SPEAKER_03What do you mean?
SPEAKER_04There's a new dinosaur dock on.
SPEAKER_03What makes the doc good about the dinosaurs?
SPEAKER_04The CGI is hella good. Oh, it looks good. It looks good. And apparently it's really fun. Okay. And I don't know. Ramsey was telling me. Ramsey Rohner was telling me. Ramsey, double R. You know Ramsey's. Double R Dino. You know Ramsey's on them dinosaur documentaries.
SPEAKER_03Ramsey's gonna love a dinosaur document. That's fine, dude. He's into it. They do look, they're fucking out there getting it. If there's dinosaurs doing anything, he's fucking getting it. All he can do is himself, right? So I can see how that could be fun to watch. Just like, damn. Like jackass. I feel like watching a dinosaur documentary is like watching jackass in a way. Did you here's some here's some dinosaurs doing some dumb shit right before they die.
SPEAKER_04There's an asteroid coming towards Earth, and I'm gonna run headfirst into it.
SPEAKER_03Hey, I'm Australopithecus, Mrs. Jackass.
SPEAKER_04But yes, film pod, we are film pod. Film pod. And you know what? We got the camera back. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Shout out to the YouTubers. Look at us. We're trying to get on shorts, reels, uh vines. We got six-second clips coming back. Um, we're also doing uh tomato vids, which is vine but for grown-ups. What's tomato vids? Is that a real thing? Well, what what do tomatoes grow on?
unknownVines.
SPEAKER_03Right. And so when you're grown up and you need 600 seconds, you go to tomato vid. And that's real. That is real. That is good joke making.
SPEAKER_04That is good joke making. You are the goat when in my mind of joke making. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Come on, there's funnier joke making.
SPEAKER_03You're one of my goats in joke making. That's why we do the pod together.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. But we are film pod. We quick quick rundown of update. We we um we do New York Times released a list of the top 100 movies since 2000. And each episode we talk about one of them.
SPEAKER_03And we're we're going down, we're climbing up the ladder to towards number one, climbing that 21st century pyramid.
SPEAKER_04But on this episode, we will be talking about the film Celine Song's film Past Lives. Past Lives, 2023. 2023, and by the end, you will know if we think if it belongs on the list or not.
SPEAKER_03Whoa, hey, hit him with the fucking stick around hook. Look, I'm so pleased about Jennings' instincts here with this. Hey, if you don't watch this whole thing, I'm pretty sure you are racist. Dang, that's crazy. It's crazy. I don't want to think about this film. That's what all the racist.
SPEAKER_04That's what all the podcast boys say to do. They say make a promise at the beginning and give it to them at the end.
SPEAKER_03Hey, look, so I think all film pod does fulfill promises, bro. Yeah. We may we make a promise, we keep a promise, bro. No question about it. Coming out of past lives, 2023, gut reaction, I think we both were of two minds, maybe. Right. I think we both came out of it being both a little like for me. What I say is I was like, is that the kind of the whole film? You know, is this like what we've and then as uh this is a rare time where it's been like two days or so since I've watched it. And over that time, as I think about it and remember it, a la, past lives. Um yeah, my estimation for it has kind of grown a little more since I've since I've walked away from it.
SPEAKER_04Um I'd say so too, because when I was watching, I was I wanted to see this movie when it came out in 2023. It made noise. Right. And I just never got around to it. I was uh working on a movie at the time. I was living in Baton Rouge, I was very destitute, yeah, couldn't get my ass to the theater, and that happens.
SPEAKER_03And I do feel like a big part of its its buzz back a couple years ago was its digital mediation aspect, right? The fact that it's like we're coming out of the pandemic and now we're seeing a movie with Zoom calls in it that's like doesn't feel like the sort of Zoom specials like that we all saw during the pandemic reunions, just like that, like you know, reintegrating like that uh aspect into a fair what was kind of a fairly standard like um love story or like not like standard but like romantic style plot about someone you had a special connection with long ago who's now re-entered your life.
SPEAKER_04Because I was about to say, if this is a standard love story, I've never been in love. I don't mean this is the blueprint of love stories, but no, I mean like because what would I call this movie? What would the tagline if if they were like Jennings, write a tagline for past lives, it'd be get over it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's what I'd say to him for sure.
SPEAKER_04I'd say it to both of them because it was clear, but her her connection was a little different than his.
SPEAKER_03Bro, exactly. I'm saying for her, dude, ripped. I thought she was great in this film.
SPEAKER_04I thought all the acting was very good.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I have no I thought there was top notch.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I thought the editing, I thought the cinematography was pretty serviceable for a pretty, you know.
SPEAKER_03I thought it was a nice, I thought it was nice, you know, especially whenever they were like I thought the cinematography was nice and some of those longer shots that they wanted you to kind of take in the travel in and stuff like that. I thought that was neater. Um I really did like those uh those shots. Um and yeah, no, the performances were great. I'm not a big, you know, uh I'm not a big fan of like the weird like in media res type beginning sort of thing that then we like flashback at the you know the very beginning we see them like we see that bar scene before the Uber out, and it's like them like those people speculating about their relationship to one another.
SPEAKER_04You ever do that at a bar? Um you ever just be staring at somebody and be like, I wonder what their deal is?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it depends. Like, I've I've both like been encouraged to play that game, right? Like, oh, let's do that thing where you, you know, imagine what's going on at all the other tables. I'm like, okay, I've done that. And then I've I've gotten um some particular I've gotten some particular vibes that have like jumped off of other patrons and other places and kind of been like Do you ever worry that people are doing that to like you?
SPEAKER_04No. Uh now I'm gonna start worrying about it. Why?
SPEAKER_03I'm a worrier. So, but like what are you worried about in that scenario? Them being wrong?
SPEAKER_04That I'm a cuck in a 24-year relationship, bro.
SPEAKER_03Dude, they're clearly not gonna know that context. Yeah, but what if they think it because of this movie? Dude. No, I mean the thing is, like, what the fuck there? Yeah, well, somebody's across the bar being like, hey, a guy in the purple shirt, I bet he eats nails because he's ugly. I hate his guts. I think he's a nail eater. What the fuck does that do to me? That's that's a it's all some sort of interior drama happening to that person. It's not happening to me at all. Fair enough. They've cast me in some sort uh they've taken uh the phantasm that they've imagined of me, placed it in their own head, and they're doing things to that. And me, I'm fine over there. I'm fucking chilling.
SPEAKER_04Okay, yeah. I'm glad you have a healthy brain. I'm glad you are functioning.
SPEAKER_03I do not have a healthy brain, I'm not functioning. I've just never been able to care about what other people think of me. Which is its own problem.
SPEAKER_04I I wish I had that problem though. Because I do care.
SPEAKER_03I care what some people think of me, but I don't have the same sort of I I don't understand the sort same sort of fear because these are these people cannot harm me with their thoughts, you know. Okay. And I harm myself with their my own thoughts all the time. So it's like I got plenty of that going on. That's fair.
SPEAKER_04Okay, well. But past life, quick plot summary, just like a quick little plot of the movie. Two people, two childhood friends, one of them moves away from Korea, immigrates to, I believe, Canada, but ends up in America later on. Goes to New York photology. And they and basically her old childhood boyfriend, or maybe boyfriend-ish type as you're a little kid.
SPEAKER_03When you say boyfriend, it's like your best friend that you're basically palling around with all of them. You're your friend you hold hands with instead of just play with. Right. It's like your closest best friend. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And uh they reconnect, they reconnect twice over 24 years. And um, it is about their relationship and how they've felt about each other and how they, you know, connect with each other and discuss their lives in the interim.
SPEAKER_03So one thing I like to here's something that just popped into my mind. Okay. This is almost a bit like uh a sort of a perver inverse, some sort of change to the sun before sunset.
SPEAKER_04Yes, I got a lot of before sunset and sunrise.
SPEAKER_03Um but we have it compressed into this film, you know, with them coming back to each other.
SPEAKER_04I definitely saw the influence um of the before trilogy by Richard Lencletere, which I was watching again the other day in prep from. I know it's some of your fave. I do, and it's crazy because I I say those are some of my favorite, but pardon. Uh I had some Oreos before coming over here. Bro. Thin mint Oreos. Dude. What? They make those? Yeah, they just they're thin oyster cracker style things. Oh no, the the the thin Oreos, but then mint.
SPEAKER_03Is that what you were saying? Yeah, and then it was mint cream. See, the thin Oreo, bro, what a fucking invention. I look. Kill me if you want. The thin Oreo is the best Oreo.
SPEAKER_04That's a bold decision. That's a bold statement to make.
SPEAKER_03I need less cream. Double stuff, nasty work.
SPEAKER_04I love double stuff. I love double stuff. You remember when Gary Goldman said he goes, Oreo, they came out with the double stuff. And we were all bewildered. We're like, how are you gonna afford it? How are you gonna, how are you gonna afford it? How much more is this gonna cost? They're like, it's the same price. Well, how are you gonna afford this? We don't care about the money. Here's the thing double stuffed Oreos are sensational. And you're gonna end up eating the same amount of thin Oreos, you're still gonna end up getting that much cream.
SPEAKER_03How? How on planet Earth, if I'm eating one thing of thin Oreos, am I gonna get the same amount of cream as if I ate one thing of double stuffed Oreos?
SPEAKER_04Well, you're thinking of one double stuff versus one bag of double stuff versus one bag of thin. I'm thinking of I eat one double stuff Oreo. That's enough for me at this moment. Well, I'm gonna have three. That's enough for me, right? I'm gonna have each, I'm gonna have 12.
SPEAKER_03You're amortizing your cream right here, and then you're looking at the payment saying it's a thing. I don't fucking like this. We gotta think about cream as a fucking per unit sort of thing here.
SPEAKER_04I don't know, man.
SPEAKER_03I don't know.
SPEAKER_04I see what you're saying, right?
SPEAKER_03I had six of them. I would have only had two double stuff. Right. That's I see what you're saying. I see what you're saying with that, right? That the cream that like you are eating an equivalent amount of cream either way. Yes, you're getting your cream, whether that comes a form of fucking three double stumps or six fucking ten Oreos.
SPEAKER_02My man's eating the same amount of cream. Okay.
SPEAKER_03That's you, dog. That's how you approach Oreo eating. Me, I like to think about how much cream do I just walk out the grocery store with that's kind of my metric.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_03All right. Wonder what kind of Oreos they're eating over there in Korea these days, dude. I bet they got fucking fire Oreos in Korea.
SPEAKER_04You know.
SPEAKER_03Because I know they got fire Kit Kats. Yeah, no, that's in England. Dude, and Japan and everywhere but here, basically. Okay, my bad. No, I'm just saying.
SPEAKER_04My grandmother was a big Kit Kat head and she would order them off the internet from other countries.
SPEAKER_03Bro, order some of the Japanese ones, dude. You'd be fucking you'd be like, dude, we we're we live in a fucking backwards land.
SPEAKER_04Straight up, I think the last thing my grandmother ate before she died was a Kit Kat.
SPEAKER_03And then she walked right into the arms of the Lord because she was blessed. Had the Last Supper right there.
SPEAKER_02A little bit of Christ's body.
SPEAKER_04We would just take her Kit Kats. We'd be like, here, eat these.
SPEAKER_03It was a blessing, dude. That's what John Calvin was talking about. This is the only way to know you'll be in heaven, is if you eat. Yeah, dude. He's a Kit Kat, man.
SPEAKER_04That's the body of Christ. We did we do those wafer crackers in the Nazarene church. Yeah, it's true. But one time we did it and like they're like, we forgot the wafer. This is a true story. We forgot that they're like, we have no wafer crackers, but I had a bag of Kit Cats. You all used it. So I was just like, here, just I'm like, it's all pretend. Uh it's like we're just pretending.
SPEAKER_03Right, because you're not Catholic. You don't believe in transubstantiation. Yeah. You don't think that's a good thing?
SPEAKER_04And I believe in the Lord, but I was like, I don't think he's gonna mind if we pretend his body is a Kit Kat.
SPEAKER_03Right, because every time you're giving him you're pretending it's his you're pretending it's his body while where the Catholics think it actually turns into him inside your body, which is And Kit we learned that day that Kit Kat grape juice banger combination. The Welches. Uh I can't remember which brand, but grocery store brand, probably. Probably for the church, church is buying the big jugs. Dude, church is buying great drinks sometimes. I know that when I went to daycare at the fucking dude.
SPEAKER_04When we'd have gatherings at that church, we'd get the USA sodas from like the Dollar Tree. You remember them thing? Ouch! The sprite tasted like medicine.
SPEAKER_03You could taste every single false flavor they used in it. You taste everything whatever they dissolved the fucking flavor in. More than that, you taste the flavor itself. That shit was brutal, bro. Fucking dude. First Baptist Church in Ocean Springs, we would have the fucking the barrel jugs of juice, which is like these fucking little plastic barrels with foil on the top, and it was just the if I got a purple, I wanted to fucking just walk into traffic, dude. I was like, I wouldn't I wouldn't drink shit if all only the purples were left. I'm like, I'd rather fucking die of thirst and let that shit touch me.
SPEAKER_04I thought we were getting off topic, but we're talking about our past lives. That's true. And uh our past lives of orange drink or grape drink.
SPEAKER_03It was at that church uh church uh daycare where I met my first Valentine's date when I was like five. I wanted to have a Valentine's date with my friend Jessica, and like in this film, right? Like our moms sat at a different table chatting while me and her were like at a different table at the Burger King eating our meal, like a little date. Yeah. Um, and what's y'all? What'd y'all talk about? I mean, I don't really remember. I think we were talking about being at Burger King and how fun it was to be at our own table because you know, kid shit.
SPEAKER_04Were y'all in the play place, like pressed up against each other like they were in past lives?
SPEAKER_03No, no, we weren't wandering through the sculpture like they were. Um, no, we were like face to face at a booth next to the parking lot window. Okay. And my parents, there were we were they were like on the other side of one of the tables that had the chairs attached to it. Okay. Um, but like, you know, last time I talked to her was probably when I was in high school. I guess she was still around. So I probably bumped into her in the hallway, said, hey, like, you know.
SPEAKER_04Remember Burger King?
SPEAKER_03Never actually talked about that, you know. Um, which did lead into me having a little bit of context, I guess, in terms of like, that's just how I was thinking about it watching this movie, right? Like this person who I had an important temporal connection to when I was a little, when I was little. And now I'm grown and we're reconnecting. Um like clearly we don't know each other anymore. And so we're we have that weird solid base. Like, you know, you have this weird your body and mind remember this person, right? And you kind of are feeling that um interesting tension and you know, um that just that safety in a way.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um While still knowing nothing truly about one another as you are now. And like that's what was fun about that kind of middle reconnection, right? That's there's like we're talking all the time. Right. And that was probably when they were at their like closest. Yeah, I would say so.
SPEAKER_04I um yeah, I I guess I didn't like connect with this movies or this movie in a way that I would have liked to, because it was clearly like everyone on the team clearly had some type of sauce. Um I'd say screenwriting, directing-wise, acting-wise, cinematography, editing. Like they were sauced up. They got it.
SPEAKER_03Everything was capable, right? Everything, there's no I have no qualms with like the construction.
SPEAKER_04But I guess I didn't like I like connecting with the movie. I like understanding where the characters are coming from. And I but it's just like I don't know, I didn't go on a date to Burger King when I was five. You know what I mean? And like, God bless you for having that. Yeah. But like I didn't have a girlfriend until I was 19.
SPEAKER_03Sure, but like that's the thing is that like I didn't think like I never reconnect. You had friends, right? Like, whenever you're you're a kid playing an adult when you're a kid with a girlfriend and a boyfriend, right? You're uh trying to like you're trying on these other trappings of life that you see around you, see in media, right? It's it's just like another word of saying like extra special friend. It wasn't like you don't have any context for any sort of romantic style love whenever you are like pre-pubescent, bro. You know what I mean? Like there is like it is just like a a closeness, a familial, but like outside of family, sort of best friend kind of energy that is about closeness, but is not, I don't think, about being in love with one another.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's fair. I mean, yeah, because I guess there's some I guess there's some friends I have from like way back that like I don't know anymore. Like even though they were right close friends.
SPEAKER_03Think of like your best friend when you were like seven. And like imagine like bumping into them today on the street. That mix of like, I can't believe it's you. I'm so excited to see you. I have no idea who the fuck you are.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Right? Like, that's the mix. Right.
SPEAKER_04I had a Facebook moment like that, like two years ago. My childhood friend was like, yo, dude, I haven't seen you in a minute. What's up? How do you say it like that? He didn't say it like I can't remember what he said. Did you say it mean though? No. Oh, okay. He said, uh, I remember you owe me $10 from when we were 10. Uh no. I want my two dollars. No, but then I like I talked to him for a minute and then I was like, yeah, I'm doing comedy. And he's like, yeah, I'm like working in construction.
SPEAKER_03I'm like, we are so vastly because we had five years or six years, you know. Yeah, so you're gonna be vastly different.
SPEAKER_04Like, I get it. I guess I just don't like understand the like he was really just like this is why I'm saying the him was fucking bugging me out, dude.
SPEAKER_03Dude, he was weird, he was bugging me out, and don't get me started on her.
SPEAKER_04I listen, listen. No, hold on.
SPEAKER_03Once you start on her, then I'm about to be, I'll stand up for women everywhere. And that's uh Cyrus Cooper guarantee.
SPEAKER_04Listen, I got into an argument with the homies the other night, and I was using words like monolith talking about women because I was like, they're not one, and they're all laughing at me. I'm like, what are y'all bad people? Dude. But then I watched this movie, I was like, we about to meet Red Pill Jennings. No! We're about to meet Red Pill Jennings because you can't, you can't bring a dude that's clearly in love with you to your house and cuck out your American husband who can't speak the language. He was the he was the hero of the movie. I felt so pain. He was the hero of the movie, eh? For what? For what? For staring into her childhood friend's eyes longingly while waiting for an Uber and then weeping into her current husband's eyes. You saw longing, dude. I saw longing, bro.
SPEAKER_03Dude, okay. You're the you're the one who just saw fucking Casablanca and like fucking loved it. Well, that was different. You don't understand the fucking notion of like sometimes if things were just a little different, maybe something good could have happened, but that's not the world we live in. And that's not the same as longing and yearning.
SPEAKER_04It's different, it's different in Casablanca. I'll tell you this much, because they were adults and the war tore them apart.
SPEAKER_03So here's the thing. In this, she's just talking to her friend, right?
SPEAKER_04She's leading him on.
SPEAKER_03See, this is what how? By being his friend?
SPEAKER_04You can't be doing that.
SPEAKER_03Now, listen, this movie had me riled up. Here's the thing that I'm saying, right? I thought I could understand both the awkward tension that he could that would be felt by her husband not understanding everything in the language. But also, like, let's fill in the blanks here. This is clearly not the first time he's been around like people speaking Korean and him not understanding it around him.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but the other people speaking Korean didn't want to get up in her, bro. Who's to say he wants to get up in her?
SPEAKER_03Come on. Of course he does. Like, of course he does. Don't even hit me with that. But here's the thing. Here's the thing, my friend. He knows who his wife is, right? He's like, my just because that guy wants to get up in my wife, that doesn't mean my wife is gonna get got up into. Right? Because my wife, he's not gonna cheat on me with this guy because I trust her and love her.
SPEAKER_04And that you're right. You're right, but also it was still pissing me off a little bit. A little bit. Because I mean, because I mean, here's the thing when you're watching a movie, yeah, for instance, you expect you you there was drama here. There was, you know, definitely tension.
SPEAKER_03He was uncomfortable with it, right? For that reason, but for a reason why, like he says in that dream scenario, right?
SPEAKER_04Where that line of like that's what I was talking about was he was saying, like, we love each other, and you've chosen to be with me, but also you're this completely other person. He said, because when you sleep, you speak in Korean and you dream in a language that I cannot understand. So you're this whole other person that I don't understand. And then you have somebody from the country in which he dreams come around and they're like staring at each other longingly, right? So talking in Korean right next to him. He's not even a part of the damn conversation.
SPEAKER_03And he's fine. And he's fine because of this, right? Because what I see from that line, right, is him sort of like lamenting the fact that as like the person who is like like who is very much in love with her, that like he does wish that there's like an another level of closeness that he could get to her that he can't access, right? She dreams in a language I can't understand. Her mind as a child started in Korean. She sort of, and it's just this like he feels there is just one last aspect of his wife that is a little inaccessible to him, right? That he'll never be able to see. And now that I felt like was a little intrusive on his part, right? I was like, to me, it was like, you know, there should like you should be okay with some private interiority to your partner. You know what I mean? That like they are allowed their own sort of place, but if that isn't uh like some sort of him trying to like pull something out of her, then it's more an expression of him saying that, like, it's just kind of sucks. It's not that like I'm upset, like I'm not like mad or like there's like nothing you can do, but it's just like there's just another level to you that started years and years ago that's just not gonna be open to me to uh to being part of our relationship.
SPEAKER_04Okay, yeah. I I guess I was reading into a like a reading and putting a little more drama into it than maybe was there. Yeah, and of course, you had the other guy who'd be like, yo, listen, man, sorry, we were speaking in Korean, that's on me. Right. And uh and he was like, No, no problem.
SPEAKER_03And then I mean it was it was it was buddy from across the pond who was like, It's worse that your husband's nice. Yeah, right? I mean, clearly all of the any sort of romantic was coming from him, yeah, and because it was truly like I thought the movie was brilliant.
SPEAKER_04I'm gonna say that. I thought the movie because this is what I'm saying, it was sort of the like as you watch it, right?
SPEAKER_03The layers are sort of opening up, right? And then they keep kind of like you kind of like can still pull them apart a little bit after the film in that way. Um, but yeah, like I think this is what helps it grow and and in your reflection, right?
SPEAKER_04So it's kind of especially now as we're discussing, I realize some of the extra brilliance in at least the writing, because it was sort of the inverse of those old romance films like Notting Hill or things of that nature, where people reconnect, they'll be like, yo, your husband's a tool. You should bone me in this wedding reception bathroom. I don't know if that happened in any of those movies. I'm sure it happened. But no, that that's what it the movie felt real. Yeah, the movie felt real. I was still getting a little stressed out for my American pal.
SPEAKER_03Yo, this is the type of movie that fucking a critic loves to run on the paper and say well observed.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_03Well, yeah, yeah. And because we got some long shots and we got some close-ups that were framed well, and so thus the movie becomes well observed.
SPEAKER_04Um, and I'll say, and I know we have like at least one more movie similar to this coming further on down the list. Uh, I think it's movie number two in the mood for well, Mahala Drive's number two, in the mood for love is four, I believe, four or three. One car wise. One car wise.
SPEAKER_03In the mood for love.
SPEAKER_04I was talking to my boss about this, shouts out Sophia. Um, and she said she loved Past Lives because it was really just so, so similar to her favorite film of all time. In the mood for love. I said, You tell me I gotta watch this crap again.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but this time no Zoom calls. Exactly. Which is good. This time better and even better cinematography. No shots, no shots to Celine's song, but even you know, well, it wouldn't be a shot to Celine's song, it'd be a shot to her DP.
SPEAKER_04Her direction of the colour. Galaxy Brain.
SPEAKER_03No shots, team behind past lives.
SPEAKER_04Um, when you said this is a tangent, yeah, but when you said uh Wonkar Wai, I've been watching this uh guy on TikTok like review movies, but like in he'll review a whole director's like filmography and sort of tell you the history around him. He'd be like, where to start with Wonkar Y. And then he did it with Lynch, he did it with uh I watched him do it with Malik last night after I watched uh A Hidden Life. And it was funny. Shouts out Cavern Cinema, no shots. Shouts out to Cavern Cinema, Josh Stover, I believe. Yeah, I know it's Josh. Shouts out Josh. Shouts out Josh, we just won't dox just in case. I'll cut I'll cut that out. My bad, my bad, my bad. But shouts out Cavern Cinema, can't tell you where it is. Yeah, um, but but no, I I was watching this director, and it's so funny because I was like, hold up last night. I don't know, I was like, hold up a second, and I clicked in, I was like, his name's Adrian. I was a PA on one of his movies like three years ago. Whoa. And I was just like, what's going on here? I've been watching you for like six months now. No Adrian. And I did not realize for the six months I've been watching this guy that I worked with him for like two months 2023.
SPEAKER_03I was like, I forgot to do something earlier. I gotta put that fucking clothes in the dryer. Okay. Bro, I'm sorry. I need the shirt for tonight, and it's in the water.
SPEAKER_04Hey, this is what you get when you listen to film, but we're not a big production. We're not a big production. We're not we're not sponsored by the Ellisons, we're not put up by DJT. We wash our clothes. We put our pants on one leg at a time. And that's what makes us special. We were supposed to record this twice. And the first time, I can't even remember what happened the first time we were supposed to record this. The second time, I forgot my SD card. I only had I had the wrong SD card. And then today I learned that I had the SD card with me the whole time, and we could have recorded yesterday. But that's what you get. That's what you get with FilmPod. You get human flaws. You get human flaws. And there's a cat, you get a cat.
SPEAKER_03I just Yeah, he's a silly bastard, but we love him, man. Talking about him messing around with that SD card.
SPEAKER_04And that's that's on me.
SPEAKER_03No, that's fine, it's fine, that's fine.
SPEAKER_04That's on me. That was a very much a human flaw on my part.
SPEAKER_03Hey, we all look.
SPEAKER_04And your damn twin peaks hat.
SPEAKER_03I got my twin peaks hat, dude. Can I put it on? It's not gonna fit my big my big old board. Oh my god, my man's got the fucking bucket head. Damn, and you got it all the way. I ratchem off shit, dude. I'm trying to keep it.
SPEAKER_04But yeah, so speaking of Cavern. Um speaking of Cavern, they showed a little film last night called A Hidden Life by Terence Malik. Terence Malik.
SPEAKER_03This one is mad that she hasn't had dinner yet. So girl.
SPEAKER_04Terence Malik. But have you seen a hidden? You've not seen a hidden malik.
SPEAKER_03And um motherfucking I did I watched one other one.
SPEAKER_04Tree of Life.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he's only got like.
SPEAKER_04Well, we'll watch that soon, actually. Um well there's he only got a few. Oh. The New World. New World. Okay. I'll fuck with the New World. I want to check out. I want to check out. This A Hidden Life, I'm not gonna stay on it too long because this isn't the A Hidden Life episode. Right. It's the past lives episode. But A Hidden Life, if y'all haven't seen it, do yourself a favor. I it is about a conscientious objector during World War II, like an Austrian fella, I believe.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and he was objecting to being a Nazi. He was objecting to being objecting to fighting Nazis.
SPEAKER_04Yes, that is important to know. Because he did, like he got called, he goes, Yeah, I guess I gotta go serve my country. There's a war going on. And he did the whole thing. But then he came back. And that's when the true well, you know, his service was over. And that's when the true atrocity started. And like they were coming, they were coming to his like little village, and he was they were like, yo, dude, we're looking for people for the war effort. And he said, I'm not volunteering for the shit. Yeah, I don't want to do that. And they're like, okay, but then he gets called. Like he gets summoned. Uh-oh. And uh, yeah, he says no, he gets sent to prison, all that stuff. But dude, Malik, I'm not, I'm not even gonna I I gave you a kind of a rundown of the plot, but I'm telling the sauce. Yes. Sauce with dude. And we know this. And we know this, and we know and we know Malik has the sauce. We know. I can't remember the cinematographer's name. Had it not been for the cinematography, I would have clocked out like 45 minutes early. This movie suffers from Lord of the Rings syndrome, where you're like, it could end here. Yeah. Oh, it's going to the last Lord of the Rings syndrome. Yeah, the last Lord of the Rings syndrome, where you're like, this could end up too many endings. Too many endings. But just a beautiful, brilliant film. Malik has a Jesus film coming out soon.
SPEAKER_03You gotta be shitting me.
SPEAKER_04No, he shot it six years ago. And it's he's been editing it for six years. Cavizal in it? No. No, but there is another Cavizal Jesus film coming out, Passion of the Christ too. Passion Harder. No, it's not Passion Harder, but there is a second Passion of the Christ coming out. What about? I don't know. What part of the story of the city? Because didn't he ascend back into heaven in the first Passion?
SPEAKER_03Is it gonna be when like just that day he's back on earth, like fucking around before he gets sucked back up? Probably. I'll watch it. If it's that, bro, baby's day out.
SPEAKER_04No, but are are you telling me you're not interested in a film by Malik?
SPEAKER_03Just like I was interested in Scorsese's Jesus film.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I don't think that one's happening anymore. You already had one. No, that was silence. It was not about Jesus.
SPEAKER_03The last temptation of Christ is about Jesus.
SPEAKER_04Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03Come on, man. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_04I have not seen Last Temptation. It's good. It's good. Yeah. I mean, I'm sure I'd like it. Yo, you got your boy playing G's.
SPEAKER_03I'll go Willem Defoe on a hoe. Yeah, dude. That's the next you're looking at the next motherfucking young lean over here. That's already a song. Oh, yeah? I go Willem Defoe on a hoe. Who goes Willem Dafoe on a hoe? I can't remember. There's a guy out there going Willem Dafoe on a hoe.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, he's he claims he's he would go Willem Defoe. Like Willem Dafoe in like American Psycho, like just investigating.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, like which version of Willem Defoe on a hoe are you going? Green goblin on the toes, dog? What's going on here? If you had to choose a Willem Dafoe character to go on a hoe, which character?
SPEAKER_03I mean, I'm only right now, unfortunately, I'm only seeing the bad ideas like the fucking like the lighthouse.
SPEAKER_04I'm trying to think little uh little um life aquatic. That'd probably be your best bet, honestly, in terms of I'd go American psycho.
SPEAKER_03American Psycho where I just ask like I'd just like ask questions just alternately between like seeming bored and then seeming very suspicious of you.
SPEAKER_04Oh, if that's going Willem Defoe in a hoe, I already knew that. Me on a date, hmm. Then I'm very angry.
SPEAKER_03What's your Saturday like? Yeah. And did you see anybody interesting there? Like my whore ex-girlfriend. My man, my man. There's no whores in this world. Just fallen angels.
SPEAKER_04This episode's getting me canceled. We're getting in the sillies, bud. We're getting to the sillies. We're getting to the sillies. I are because it was a great film, dude. Yeah, and I went red pill ginnings, and I'm worried about that.
SPEAKER_03You, I mean, look, you you were seeing yourself in the white man character. Okay.
SPEAKER_04I wasn't seeing myself, I was seeing him and I was seeing him and feeling bad. I was picking up.
SPEAKER_03I know, I'm aware. Um, but no, I do think that, like, no, I mean, that tension is there. And I don't think you're full red pill for fucking seeing that and being like, this would be like, I, if this situation does feel like it needs a little more care put into it, right? It does seem like there's a lot of emotions and a heightened area that we like could be more well regarded and took care of a little bit and sort of, you know, communicated around to make sure everybody was like feeling like getting that tension sort of resolved. You know, I do think that's probably what you would do if life's not a movie, right? Um but life is a movie. Life's a fucking movie, baby. My life's a movie. I know I'm on the show. Wait, wait, wait, wait.
SPEAKER_04My life is a film underscore pod.
SPEAKER_03I love that. Yeah, that was my life is a roller coaster, particularly rock and roller coaster.
SPEAKER_04My life be like, ooh.
SPEAKER_03My life be like, Caesar Point. Just roller coaster, roller coaster. Oh man. But no, past lives is fucking good. It's an hour and a half movie that felt like a million hours and a half.
SPEAKER_04Bro, I honestly like it did feel longer than it was, I'll say that much. Was not even very it's not a lot of content in that hour six. And like that's not even me trying to hate on it.
SPEAKER_03Because that's the acting. They you know what I mean? It's like all each of these scenes has a lot of unspoken dialogue as well, which is just like feeling the vibe and yeah, and that's fine.
SPEAKER_04Conversations and shit like that. It's just there was a point where I thought the pacing, not even the slow pacing. I like I I don't mind a slow movie, I just felt the pacing within the slow pacing. Lowness was a little long.
SPEAKER_03It's a little long once you get to like the marriage, like meeting him, meeting the husband, and getting a little stretched out there is like kind of a lot of fun. And then it picks up when they finally get back to like the bar, like him, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Don't walk into my house and tell me you want pasta either.
SPEAKER_03Dude, that's funny though. He's like, I want the pasta. But if a guy said it funny though, and you weren't expecting him to say it.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_03Also, dude, you would also, it wasn't about they were going to pasta. You're like, he's gonna have to cook him.
SPEAKER_04No, no, no, that's what I was about to say. Yeah. Because I was sitting there, I was like, I know you're not about to cook his ass in pasta, bro. I think it's a bridge too far. I know you're not about to cook his ass in pasta. And you would have met you would have met Red Pill Jenny.
SPEAKER_03You would have met Red Pill Cyrus at that point. We would have made the pasta for him. We would have both now you now we're going crazy. You were like sitting in with a glass of wine in the living room, meanwhile, you're stirring sauce. Like you're fucking no nut, get the fuck out of here.
SPEAKER_04Chopping the chopping the garlic? Yeah. I'm like I was I was I was sitting there, I was like, if he makes his pasta, he better use jar garlic. He better not fresh chopped that garlic for his ass.
SPEAKER_03Don't slice that like Polly likes, dude.
SPEAKER_04You better be using some ragu, dude.
SPEAKER_03Get this fucker some. If you use anything nicer than a fucking emeralds, we're gonna fucking a riot, bro.
SPEAKER_04No, don't even use emeralds. You use ragoo. Dude, ragoo is fucking nasty shit, dude. Oh my god, I can sauce up some ragoo.
SPEAKER_03With your own seasonings? Yeah. Yeah, okay. I can believe that.
SPEAKER_04You just put a little cream in there too, it makes it better.
SPEAKER_03Here's the thing. Yeah, I can believe you could take ragu as a sauce base and turn it into a more flavorful sauce. That I believe. I'm saying, have you eaten ragu without all that shit you do to it there? Yeah, it's fine. No, it's nasty as fuck with all without the shushin.
SPEAKER_04I mean, I've always had a little extra seasoning, but if you That's what I'm saying. Yeah, but I'm it's not nasty without it. You taste it, you're like, oh, that needs a like a little pepper. Oh, a little salt. Like it's not like it's not baseline nasty. It just needs a little bit more like. I don't eat it and go, ugh.
SPEAKER_03It just go, ugh.
SPEAKER_04And then it's just like it's like a fine red sauce, throw some pinnae in there, like shred some cheese. It's fine.
SPEAKER_03It's not fine, it's nasty. I think it's you are raw. I think it's nasty. Um what about what's the other one? Shout? I don't know that. That's uh that's uh actually that's a detergent.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, no, my mom was a ragu head. Pause. Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_03Pause.
SPEAKER_04Ragu head?
SPEAKER_03Don't say pause in front of me. No, here's what I'm saying. Without that letter U, you I'll just say it like Misho wouldn't like listening to this episode. I've made worse jokes about Misho. I I hesitate to believe it.
SPEAKER_04You shouldn't. I worked in a kitchen with that man.
SPEAKER_03You think there's rules of I saw waiting. I saw waiting.
SPEAKER_04But yeah, so that not make it the list. Waiting? Well, what's waiting?
SPEAKER_03That's the movie with Ryan Reynolds working at like the I saw a clip from that movie.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I saw a clip from that movie the other day. When uh on TikTok. From what? What was it? What was he saying? Um it was when that businessman was there. He goes, Man, you're really good at your job. If you ever want to leave this place, here's my card. It's like you ever be so good at waiting, you get a six-figure job offer.
SPEAKER_03Bro, that movie's so ridiculous, but it did lead to an absolute crime wave of guys flashing their nuts at each other.
SPEAKER_04I've never seen the whole movie.
SPEAKER_03I'm just saying.
SPEAKER_04Speaking of guys' nuts, have you ever seen an hour uh RoboCop remake? No. It's just they sent each different scene in Robocop to a different filmmaker and had them remake it in like whatever style or fashion they wanted to. Oh, but the one where they were like shooting the dicks off like a hundred different guys. Yes, I have seen that. That is hilarious, dude. Have you seen the other stuff those people made? Uh not a lot of it. Was it the same guys that did our footloose remake?
SPEAKER_03Whoa.
SPEAKER_04Because there's they did footloose someone did footloose in that same manner as well.
SPEAKER_03And it was all that Garfield stuff that they did. Oh no, I haven't seen it. Bro. Dude. That was shit blew my mind years ago. Anyway.
SPEAKER_04What department do you think voted to put this film on the New York Times top 100 list?
SPEAKER_03This is that shit. This is director shit.
SPEAKER_04I'd say screenwriters.
SPEAKER_03I don't know if screenwriters got sent it, but I'd say written and directed by Celine Song, right? Yeah. So yeah, I'll take by either of those.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I mean, maybe cinematographers. It wasn't like the flashiest movie, but it was sharp. Like it looked great. And the editing was also great. Clippy.
SPEAKER_03But um, but yeah, there's I mean, I I really did like the like the moment to moment. I really liked the Uber scene. I really did.
SPEAKER_04You did?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Damn. No, it was good. It was good. The movie was good. And especially now that we've had our conversation and you've de-pilled me. I can see some of its uh scooped it out of your mouth like a dog getting into the fucking. You said, hey. You went jinnings bad. They are where they are they are autonomous. Bad Jinnings.
SPEAKER_03Oh, damn. But sometimes we all gotta be reminded about the world outside our own heads anyway, not just like man to woman.
SPEAKER_04You know what irritates me is this podcast is gonna go to air and people are gonna think I had to be like de-red pilled in like a major way. No. And like I'm the most un-red-pilled of like anyone I know except you.
SPEAKER_03Here's the thing. That's true. I would say that is abundantly true. I used to think that I well, here's the thing, honestly. I know I've known you were a good-hearted young lad for a long time. I just had I I I had higher opinions of others that I now realize I shouldn't have had. I realize as aren't now like, oh wait, you're actually kind of you you aren't seeing you don't see women all the way as a full person. So some of these people I've had a little bit of a uh yeah. So I'd agree with you. You definitely top the even terms of the comedy peers in New Orleans. A lot of them, uh, there are definitely quite a few who have some growing to do in that department, I'd say. Um none of the women though, shouts out them.
SPEAKER_04No, no, women don't need to change. No, they're great. Uh women are great in women in New Orleans comedy and can do no wrong. Hell yeah. I'm not gonna shout out the women in New Orleans comedy. I'm shouting them out as a blanket statement. I'm not. I can't I can't do a what are you a Sith? You're dealing in absolutes. No, Sith. You're dealing in absolutes right now? How is that an absolute? I don't know. That's just a category. I just couldn't have a nice moment.
SPEAKER_03That's fine. Let's give them have an unnice moment then. Hey, to all the nasty fellas of the New Orleans Cowboys scene. Fuck your face and come and talk to me and Jennings about it if you got a problem. If you are a nasty fucker, we think you suck. I mean, it's a bless. Is that strong enough for you? Is that mean enough?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I don't want them to come to talk to me about it. I don't care.
SPEAKER_03Okay, talk to me. Don't talk to Jennings.
SPEAKER_04Like, I don't want to talk to me.
SPEAKER_03I didn't mean to lump Jennings into it. I'll talk to and look, if you got a and also if you got a problem with Jennings, talk to me about it. Uh uh anything about Jennings, anything coming to Jennings' desk in the next week or two, bring it straight to me first. And I'll let you know if he's got the bandwidth for it.
SPEAKER_04And I'm gonna give you a little heads up. I don't have the bandwidth for it. Hey, I don't want to talk to you.
SPEAKER_03He doesn't have the bandwidth for it right now.
SPEAKER_04I don't want to talk to you because I get past lives.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you wouldn't get past lives.
SPEAKER_04They wouldn't get it. They don't get it. I get past I get the before true. You know what? I got Frances Ha.
SPEAKER_03Dude, did you get Francis Ha or what? You got the like that was a good movie. That's a good ass film.
SPEAKER_04And you talk to these New Orleans.
SPEAKER_03This is a dude who rides for motherfucking the next one, too. What's it? Ladybird. This is a ladybird head over. Yeah, I'm a ladybird head, dude. Yes.
SPEAKER_04And no, I'm saying, like, and you know, these New Orleans comics, they would have been like, why couldn't it have been Frankie Ha?
SPEAKER_03Right. They wanted to be Frank Ha.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, they want it to be Frank Ha.
SPEAKER_03They love, they wish it was a guy getting danced around. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Like that.
SPEAKER_03But here's the thing: if it were a guy, they'd be like, Man, they're being so mean to that guy, making him go back and work at the camp. Like they would be like pissed off that the guy was having a hard life. It was a guy.
SPEAKER_04I get hella exhausted with some of these fools.
SPEAKER_03Dude, they don't know shit about Dick, dude, some of them, honestly. There's like 12 of y'all that really need to figure your shit out. That's just a guess. Uh but no, I mean, really, so it is appalling how dead wrong some people can be. Like, bro, you're dead fucking wrong about this. Francis Ha, good movie. Good movie. Great movie.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. But, and now we've come to the moment we promised at the beginning of the episode. Yes. Where is it? Does this movie belong on the list? I I think so. I absolutely think so. It gave us a very good talented. Well, I'll say this. It sort of gave us a new voice in cinema and Celine's song, and it was also expertly made. But even aside from being expertly made, it gave us this new voice. But then the damn her second movie came out, not as well received. What was the second movie? I can't remember the name of it, but it was that Chris Ebb, Chris Evans um um what's his name? The Hispanic guy from The Last of Us.
SPEAKER_03Oh. I never watched Oh fucking Pablo Pascal. Pedro Pascal. Pedro Pascal.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it was Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, and Dakota Johnson. Another movie about a damn third.
SPEAKER_03Oh, they're like a three-wheel. She's like a three-wheel lady.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and she's like, who do I want to get with type of situation? It was more of a romantic comedy take on the thing. It was more traditional.
SPEAKER_03Once you got Chris Evans here, you know, we gotta let we gotta let him fall in love, dog. Um but not as well received. But I still say I also think the the buzz around them using the Zoom calls effectively and stuff, a little overblown. Yeah. Um but and I think it was more of a product of the moment being like, oh, it's so nice to see like a full movie again. Yeah, where you don't have to see like just like computer camera. So um I don't yeah, there's been more people doing that kind of stuff since that's been as well, or if not better, executed.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and I'd say I wouldn't move.
SPEAKER_03But it's the emotion. It's the emotion about this movie about distance, about um yeah, things sliding doors in a way, right? The lives we didn't lead. Um and the um yeah, the sort of aspects, the different layers of closeness you can have with individuals of love that aren't explicitly sexual. Um yeah, I just thought it was interesting in that regard. I thought it was a good movie.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I did too. And I wouldn't, I wouldn't move it higher or lower. Um I'm happy with it here.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm happy with it right here. I mean, honestly, I I would move it. Me, I'd move it one slot at least, put it above Anchorman.
SPEAKER_04I'd put the whole damn list above Anchorman.
SPEAKER_03I do feel bad that like this is the movie. The I'd be pissed off Arceline's song in there, like, okay, I'm the I'm the first one that you put behind Anchorman. I couldn't fucking get right in front of Anchorman.
SPEAKER_04Anchorman blows, not to give up, not to give away the next episode.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna give out the live pod recording, but I will. God dog, that movie sucks. A movie was that movie is of its time, as we will.
SPEAKER_04I don't even think it's as of its time as like I mean we think I think I don't mean of its time in terms of like problematic things it says. I mean I don't think it was problematic at all.
SPEAKER_03No, I think it just is of its time because it sucks now because of how hard everything sucked after it, and it was the first one to do that. So then they just like went and fucked, you know, we talked about it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we'll get we'll get we'll get into it. We'll get into it next week. Yeah, come to our live pods. Live pods. When is our next is our next live pod really gonna be Black Swan? I think it is.
SPEAKER_03I think we should just go You think we should just pick a different one? I don't think we should do Black Swan Live. You don't think the people want to come out and talk about BS?
SPEAKER_04I like I I like that guy.
SPEAKER_03You don't want to do BS about BS film pod live? You don't you don't you don't like uh Aronofsky? Yeah. You didn't like the Natamocho, my friend.
SPEAKER_04You didn't like The Wrestler?
SPEAKER_03I did like the Wrestler.
SPEAKER_04The Wrestler's a great movie.
SPEAKER_03I did like the wrestler. Okay. I just wanted to I said Natamucho. I did like the wrestler. I thought the wrestler was great. Okay, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_04Yeah I've never seen Black Swan. I just I know of it, and I don't think we should do that one live. No, well I'm telling you, still.
SPEAKER_03This is shit. Like I'm growing up a little film nerd in high school. Trying to, we'll talk about it. Yeah. But Aronofsky, I downloaded, I pirated Pi, which was like his like big breakout or whatever, and about like the Talmudic mathematician or whatever, getting fucking freaked out. And I was like, this sucks. I was hitting him with it, this guy stinks. Well, like while I was in high school, man. And yeah, I think it sucks still.
SPEAKER_04Alrighty. What's our next episode that's not Anchorman? Our next episode that's not Anchorman is melancholy. Anchorman melancholia.
SPEAKER_03That's crazy. That's crazy. Roller coaster shit right there, bro. Shoot. Well, yeah, we gotta we gotta deal with Christian Tunst and Melancholia. Ghost fans saying it. We're fucking in it now, dude. We're in the list now, dude.
SPEAKER_04There's no turning back.
SPEAKER_03No, we're in the thick of it, dude. We're in we we're in our own Vietnam now, baby.
SPEAKER_04Because we're still in Anchorman. Pause. Uh see, see how dumb it is when you say pause.
