Ladies and gentlemen, it is Wednesday, the 13th of August, and I would like to welcome you to a brand new episode of the Beyond the Mat podcast with Joshi Wrestling Episode number four. These weeks are absolutely flying. How are we at number four already? I feel like it was just yesterday, where I made episode number one explaining why we needed a podcast, what the purpose was of the podcast and how I got into wrestling. Now, four weeks later on, we're getting 150 views on every single episode. We've got 31 five-star ratings on Spotify.
Speaker 1:Guys, the support has been incredible. I'm having so so much fun recording these podcasts on a weekly basis. You guys are sending in some incredible questions and I hope that I'm doing a good enough job of getting back some great answers to your questions. I really am trying my best for this. I'm going all in and I'm absolutely loving it. I'm loving the podcast scene. I'm loving the content creator scene. I have done for nearly a full year at this point, but the podcast stuff is a a different animal. It's a completely different beast. Sitting here for 45 to 50 minutes, uh, I'm absolutely loving it. I'm hoping you are loving it too. Uh, if you could one way to show me that you are loving it is by dropping some support in the comment section down below and I know I don't even have to say that because you guys have been. Every single week I'm getting 20 plus questions. The fact that we're not even be able to answer all of the questions in a 15 minute long video, because there are lots and lots of great questions that I want to get around to. Therefore, they are just kind of rolling over to the next podcast episode. But, yes, if you are here right now, whether you are on YouTube watching, whether you are listening on one of our platforms for podcasts whether that be Spotify, apple Podcasts, amazon, anywhere like that Leave whatever support you can, whether that be a comment, whether that be a like, whether that be sharing with your friends or leaving a five-star review. Another way you can support the podcast is by sending in questions, again another thing that you guys are already doing but there might be someone sat there thinking I might be a bit nervous to send the question.
Speaker 1:Just send the question. You can do that plenty of ways. You can message me on TikTok YouTube. You can drop a comment under the videos or under any of the whatever platform you're on, whether that be Apple or Spotify. You can also send me a direct email to contact at joshyrwrestlingcom. That is brand new as well, joshyrwrestlingcom. You can contact me through any of those means. I appreciate it very, very much.
Speaker 1:Get your questions over and hopefully they will be answered on next week's episode, episode number five. I tend to record these the night before, so on the Tuesday. You're currently seeing me record this on Tuesday the 12th, for it to go out on Wednesday the 13th, and that's pretty much it. That's the best way to get in contact. Reach out to me, whether that's a DM, whether that's in the Discord server, or whether you just want to email me. There are plenty of ways. I will make sure that your question gets read in as much detail as possible as well.
Speaker 1:That's exactly what this podcast is for. It's all about exploring the longer questions that we're not able to in the lives and, honestly, so far so good. I just really do, from the bottom of my heart, um, I hope that you are enjoying it. I hope that I'm giving you enough in these podcasts. They are 45, 15 minute long podcasts, so I appreciate you really taking the time and listen to them. I really really do hand on heart, uh, and honestly, the support has been incredible. So thank you so much. I want to make sure I say that every video, because I am super, super grateful from the community that I've built, the community that has joined me to grow this with me. Uh, and it's it's really not all me. There are some fantastic people in the Discord server. A really, really fantastic community is being built here and I, for one, I'm super, super fortunate to be a part of it. I am so thankful to every single person who comments on a video, supports me in their lives, watches the long form, watches the short form, sends me messages. Uh, it's very, very overwhelming. I'm not going to go on uh for much longer and it's four minutes on. How much I appreciate you guys. There's enough, because I know that you guys are going to be skitting me for it afterwards. I appreciate you all. Thank you so, so, so much.
Speaker 1:I'd like to welcome you to episode number four of the beyond the map podcast with Joshi Wrestling. Lots to get into today, lots to get into. I am fresh off watching Monday Night Raw, but I don't want to go into too much about Monday Night Raw, but I do want to go into the upcoming Clash in Paris tour that kicks off with Friday Night Smackdown in Dublin on Friday the 22nd. Question number one are any of you going to any show on the Clash in Paris tour? Let me know, let me know.
Speaker 1:Down below we're going to roll out some dates right here. So Friday the 22nd of August, we have got Dublin Island, friday Night Smackdown. We then have back-to-back house shows Liverpool on Saturday the 23rd in the M&S Arena. We've then got the 24th in Newcastle. We've then got a Monday night Raw in Birmingham from the BP Pulse Live. We have then got three back-to-back house shows them being in Manchester, leeds and Cardiff Fall down with a Friday night Smackdown in Lyon, france, to then finally get to the PLE, the one that it is all about in the build-up, that is, clash in Paris, from the Paris La Défense Arena. I definitely messed that up. I'm so sorry If I have any French viewers, I am so, so sorry if, if, if I have any french viewers, I'm so, so sorry if I've botched that. And then we have monday night raw in the exact same arena the night after.
Speaker 1:Let me tell you I am very, very excited for the tour, for two reasons. Reason number one is we are going to be getting, as uk fans, much earlier monday night roarsaws and Friday Night Smackdowns. That means we are going to have three. Well, we've got two Smackdowns, we've got one Monday Night Raw, all kicking off at a good, nice time for us here in the UK, and that's what it's all about. That's what it's all about. We love the earlier showtimes. We know that the Monday Night Raw and the Clash is also going to be at an earlier time as well. Reason number two why I'm excited I'm actually going to be attending three shows this time round on this tour. So I'm going to be heading to WWE Liverpool on the 23rd of August in the M&S Arena.
Speaker 1:Very, very excited for that. I'm going to be taking the whole family. We as a family, collectively, are excited. I get to a lot of wrestling shows, but they don't, and I know that they are very, very excited. It's going to be really cool to take my brother to watch it, my dad, my stepmom, it's going to be cool. My girlfriend as well, but she's going to be more excited with what's going on. Later in the month.
Speaker 1:We have also got clash in paris. We are going to be going to the 31st clash in paris and then the first, which is, uh, which is obviously the monday night raw. It is going to be so, so good. Uh, very, very excited for clash in paris. Are you going to any shows? That is, that's the, that's the, the leading question that we're going in here. Okay, that's the leading question. I'm very excited, I'm very, very excited. So this will be the third class show that we have got. We have had scotland, we have had cardiff and now we have got in paris as well. Um, very, very excited. So far, we've got three matches well, kind of three matches, kind of two and a half matches announced for that card. We have got John Cena versus Logan Paul.
Speaker 1:Now a lot of people are upset that Brock Lesnar has not been announced for Paris and, respectfully, I don't think that they are going to. This is going to be a great card. I keep saying this. I do keep saying this, but I don't think they're going to take brock lesnar to paris, and that is because aew all out unfortunately falls in in september and it's looking like they're going to have brock lesnar versus john tina at potentially bad blood. Um, on that september date, the same time as AEW, the exact same they are going to ridiculously once again counter program AEW with a Brock Lesnar and John Cena match. I don't know. I don't know what we are doing here. Wwe we talked about this two episodes ago when we were talking about AEW and and uh and and WWE absolutely stacking the lineup in their favor on the same night, which was absolutely crazy. But we're here again. We're here again John Cena, brock Lesnar probably is going to be done on the same night that AEW All Out is and, honestly, it really does suck. It really really does suck.
Speaker 1:Nevertheless, logan Paul versus John Cena at Clash in Paris. You know what? You know what? Logan Paul is a fantastic athlete, itis. You know what. You know what logan paul is a fantastic athlete. Doesn't matter what you think of him as a person. He's a fantastic athlete and he has taken to the wrestling world very, very well. He is probably a future world champion. He is probably a future world champion. John cena versus logan paul clash in paris. We've got john cena now for I believe it's. I can't remember the dates I'm at. Is it 11? 11 dates, three more pay-per-views potentially. I really don't mind Logan Paul being a part of it. There's not going to be a huge build for the match. We're talking two weeks at this point as of the recording of this episode of the podcast. Nevertheless, if John Cena the same John Cena that turned up against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam last weekend and then Logan Paul just turned up it's going to be a great match. It'll be a fun match and, look, cena is having some fun as a face as he goes out.
Speaker 1:Also announced as of last night's Monday Night Raw, seth Rollins will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against main event Jey Uso, la Knight and CM Punk. Wow, am I excited for this match. You guys know me Seth Rollins is my all-time favorite. I have never seen Seth Rollins live. I have never seen Seth Rollins live. I've seen Jey Uso. I've seen LA Knight. I've even seen LA Knight as the US champion. I've seen Jey Uso as the IC champion and I've also seen CM Punk several, several times. I'm yet to see Seth. I'm yet to see Seth and I think I will see him back-to-back nights in Paris and I'm very, very excited for that. I cannot wait, really cannot wait. That match is an absolute banger as well. We are very fortunate to get that match in Paris.
Speaker 1:Also announced Stephanie Becker is definitely challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship. We think it's going to be Naomi. I think it's going to be Naomi. But Naomi was meant to wrestle last night on Monday Night Raw. She did not. She was not medically cleared to wrestle. She was meant to face Io Sky for the world heavyweight title. We saw Io Sky, io Sky lost to Roxanne Perez and then she had a moment after afterwards with Rhea Ripley and they're both like, yeah, okay, now we both deserve a world title shot.
Speaker 1:So I'm not exactly sure what is happening there. Is that going to become a multi-person match or probably not, because Stephanie is owed that opportunity. But also, it's not the first time that we've seen someone win something to get an opportunity and then someone get added to the match. So we've got penciled in Stephanie versus Naomi for the women's World Championship and if that is the match, fantastic, fantastic. But if anyone gets added to that match, that match goes crazy. It already goes crazy. I'm very, very much enjoying Naomi as a heel and Stephanie, if you care for me, right now, is the best female wrestler in the world. She is incredible. She's my favorite women's wrestler right now and I think, one-on-one, that's going to be a really, really good match. I think they would also have a huge opportunity by adding more people to that match, but then it becomes we're just adding people to matches for the sake of it. But we know that triple threat match with that world heavyweight title on the line have been incredible in the past.
Speaker 1:Let's look at summer slam night one. Let's look at wrestlemania night one. We've had some really good women's world championship matches, but far better than the women's wwe championship, in my opinion. Um. So we see. We see what happens with stephanie and naomi. We know that stephanie gets her world championship opportunity. We just don't know who yet. Against is the issue?
Speaker 1:A couple of matches that I think we could see. I think we could see in Paris. First, we're going to go with Dominic Massario defending the IC Championship against AJ Styles. Now look, if AJ Styles is not on this Paris card, wwe are getting it wrong. They are absolutely getting it wrong, because the fans of Paris went absolutely crazy for AJ Styles last time they saw him. The chants, the songs okay, they weren't AJ Styles' own songs, but that phenomenal chant that they were singing was absolutely crazy. I really hope that they don't miss the mark with AJ here. Aj has to either A be on the card, but if he is on the card, I think he should win the belt. I can make a serious case for AJ Styles winning that IC title before he gets off. We know that he's probably coming up to his final WrestleMania. We know that, whilst he's still incredible, he doesn't think there's too many more miles left in the tank.
Speaker 1:I think one more IC title run for AJ Styles would be the way forward and he could have some really good matches, some really really good matches. Dom and AJ is already a good match, but I think if they wrestle at clash in paris, it has to blow summerslam out of the water, because whilst the summerslam match was good with the eddie references because it was 20 years from when ray mysterio took on eddie guerrero back in 05 for the uh for the custody of dominic mysterio I just think that this, this needs to be better from a technical point of view. They can't run the same references in this match because, okay, people would get it, but it wouldn't make sense for the match. I would like to see a really high-level match between Dom and AJ Styles. Both gentlemen have it in them AJ definitely, dominic Mysterio definitely. Could I really really do hope we get that match at Clash in Paris and I really do hope that AJ Styles takes home the belt. Another match that I think that we could get at Clash in Paris Cody Rhodes defending the WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre.
Speaker 1:We're going to hear from Drew McIntyre this upcoming Friday on Friday Night Smackdown. We saw John Cena and Cody Rhodes team up to take on Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul this past week on Friday Night Smackdown and we also saw Cody Rhodes get Claymore through the bottom of the table by Drew McIntyre. That was nasty. That was a horrible watch that looked as legit as they come. It was a stiff kick right through, right through it. They absolutely tore the bottom of the table into pieces. I'm not even sure how that table stayed standard, if I'm honest, but that match is building. That makes sense right now. That also feels like the only person who should have the opportunity at the WWE title, and I would also maybe even put it on Drew.
Speaker 1:To be honest, I I am a sole believer that Drew McIntyre is World Heavyweight Championship ready, wwe Championship ready, world Championship ready. You know what I mean. He deserves a world title, spot title shot. He deserves to hold the world heavyweight championship or the wwe championship. In my opinion, he is just that caliber of wrestler. He is up there as a world champion. It is his time, in my opinion, happy for them to turn cody heel if they must.
Speaker 1:I understand all the all the merch stuff. I I honestly do understand the business side of why they would not turn Cody Rhodes heel, but as a fan and as someone not thinking about merch, I would love to see Cody Rhodes as a heel. I really really would. Um, maybe that's after Drew beats him for the title. I don't know if he beats him in Clash, I think we're a way off yet, but I would love to see drew mcintyre hold the belt and I would also love to see cody rose turn heel. Nevertheless, what I would love to see more is this match at clash in paris. If that is the lineup cena versus paul seth j punk la night, stephanie naomi cody versus drew dom versus aj then we could be on for contender of the year for match card, because on paper that would be incredible. That would be very, very, very, very good. I'm going to be in the arena for that night, so I'm probably a little bit biased on how good I want this to be in comparison to other PLEs, but nevertheless that's going to be a great night, very, very excited.
Speaker 1:There are going to be plenty of meetups in Paris. So if you are in anyone's Discord server, you'll probably see me in there. If you're in SCW, if you're in the Joshy Wrestling Discord server, the JE WrestleTalk Discord server, parky Streams any of the above all fantastic content creators. Love them all to pieces, but if you are in any of them and you see me in there, absolutely mention that I am wanting to see as many people as possible and I am wanting to see as many people as possible. I really am in Paris. Very, very exciting stuff. Are you going to any of the events? Let me know.
Speaker 1:We're going to slip into the questions because we've got some really, really good questions for this week's episode. We have great questions every week. I don't know why I say that, but this week I had to really think about them a little bit more. This week I've kind of put together a little bit more of a document, so I'm a little bit more prepared on kind of. You know, my memory slips me.
Speaker 1:We watch a lot of wrestling. We watch 12, 13, 14, 15 hours a week of wrestling. That can go well above 20-plus hours, when you've got things like PLEs, when you've got WrestleMania weekend, when, when you've got wrestlemania weekend, when there's plenty of shows to watch in local areas, you know how it'd be. You know how it'd be if you're a wrestling fan and you're watching this podcast. You obviously are both of those things. You will know that wrestling, uh, we watch a lot of it. We watch a real lot of it and it consumes a lot of our time, but we would not change it.
Speaker 1:Question number one ethan is asking. Ethan h is asking. He's got two questions here and I know that these are referring back now to summer slam. These were meant to be answered last week but they did unfortunately slip away this week. He asking do you think it was right for Seth to cash in on CM Punk after Punk's worked so hard for two years to gain and had an epic match? And how do you think Rawlins, as a champion, will go? It's a great question, ethan. It's a great question. We'll answer this one. Then we'll go into your next one, because I know you've got I know you've got kind of two there, kind of three, because I know you've got kind of two there, kind of three. To be fair.
Speaker 1:I'm going to start off with saying CM Punk for me, over the last. You know, since November 2023, you know he's been around for a year and a half now. He, I don't feel, has done a foot wrong so far. I think CM Punk has given it all. I think CM Punk has been much better than a lot of people thought. I think CM Punk is one of the hottest guys in WWE right now.
Speaker 1:He came back in November 2023. He went on to have absolutely match of the year but rivalry of the year with Drew McIntyre back in 2024. He obviously got injured for a good chunk of it, which is obviously very disappointing. So if you look at the year and a half that he's been back into the WWE, you've then got to consider that he was out for a little bit and he came back. He had the rivalry with Drew McIntyre, which I genuinely thought was golden. It was such golden stuff. The tricep injury I can't really remember how long he was really out for, but McIntyre did a lot of mocking, did a lot of mocking and that's why Punk was so upset. Man Punk costing McIntyre the title at Cl of clash. Uh, getting involved money in the bank.
Speaker 1:Triple threat trilogy matches. They had three matches, three superb matches, which eventually ended a bad blood in a hell, in a cell match, ending that feud incredible. So so, so good, so, so good. And then after that, it was Seth Rollins. Seth Rollins a longstanding rivalry with Punk. These two have been at it forever. We know the whole story that Punk got off when Seth Rollins needed him and you know all that stuff. They had some really really good promos. They had. I mean, I guess, if we look at this now, this story that kicked off all the way back then is still going on right now.
Speaker 1:Seth rollins and cm punk fought on january, the 6th monday night, raw um netflix debut. Cm punk picked up the win. They fought at wrestlemania. Seth rollins picked up the win with. They fought at WrestleMania. Seth Rollins picked up the win with the double, with. The double with with Paul Heyman, costing both Roman and CM Punk.
Speaker 1:You cannot, you cannot push aside how good Punk has been. So so, when it came to Seth Rollins cashing in, I was pretty torn. I was pretty torn. Whilst being this huge Seth Rollins fan, I'm also a CM Punk fan and therefore, seeing Punk win the belt after such a grueling, hard-hitting five-star match against one of the best technical wrestlers in the world.
Speaker 1:Right now in Gunther he's holding the belt high and Seth Rollins' music hits and my initial reaction was like, oh my God, seth is coming. And then the camera panned onto Punk's face and my heart sank a little bit for Punk. My heart sank a little bit for Punk. My heart sank a little bit for Punk. Seth Rollins comes out, he turns around, then he drops. Then he drops the, the walk, the sticks, the crutches.
Speaker 1:I can't even lie. I forgot all about Punk after that. I was like I was. I was like come on, seth, this is it. This is it height of Century. One more time, I can't lie. I did forget about Punk briefly, but but so I feel bad.
Speaker 1:I did feel bad for CM Punk. I can't lie to you. I cannot lie to you. I did feel bad for CM Punk. Let's double check that. I answered the question. He did work hard, he has worked hard, but I believe his opportunity is to come. I think and we're going to go into it a little bit later I think there are more world title. I think he's going to pick up another world title before he gets off. Absolutely, there's no way that. Five minutes and 36 seconds was his end on that world title. He will get it back. He will absolutely get it back. That world title, he will get it back. He will absolutely get it back. But it is hard to knock CM Punk for what he has given to the WWE since he's been back. So it is hard for me as a Punk fan in that moment to be like to not feel bad. You know, because I definitely did. He's given everything to the WWE since he's been back. He's engaged in two significant rivalries. He also fought John Cena quite recently as well. You know it's hard to deny that that man is ready for the world title once again.
Speaker 1:We've got to look at Seth, though man, and what he did was nothing short. It's not anything we've seen before. Nobody has worked an injury in the way he has. He's online on social media. He's showing that he's on crutches whilst he's running down the road with his daughter. It all just looked so real, and obviously there are fans now coming out being like I predicted that I. I predicted that you didn't predict that when Seth Rollins' knee buckled against LA Knight. You did not predict that. As soon as that happened, I promise you, you did not predict that as that happened. I think, as the weeks went on, you predicted that because a lot of social media was coming into play. But I just don't think that as soon as his knee buckled, the people were like that's fake, because it didn't look fake. We know that Seth Rollins has had knee injuries in the past and therefore why would we think that's fake? As it happens, you know he didn't make it look fake. He looked like he called the end of the match and just told LA Knight to hit him with the BFT and that's it. It was done. But yeah, what Seth did, it was so opportunistic. It was absolutely Seth Rollins all over. It is exactly what the cash-in is all about it, and it also makes Seth Rollins more of a villain.
Speaker 1:Punk's one and a half two year grind towards that world title. He got the main event of WrestleMania. He got that. He wanted that. He got it. He didn't get a belt from it, but he did get to do something that he's wanted to do all his life, something that he only wanted to do more than anything in the world since he was a child, or whatever. It really does put Seth as a more of a heel now than it ever has. I mean, the crowd did pop for him. The crowd did pop, but there is no way. There is no way that people, there is no way that Rollins was not going to produce something spectacular with the cash-in WrestleMania 31,. Heist of the century.
Speaker 1:He cashes in on Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar In the middle of that match. He just joins. He doesn't even look like he's going to win the match, by the way, he does not even look like he's going to win the match. He managed to get the curb stomp, he managed to get the win, and then the iconic moment of him swinging the title around afterwards. And then the same, the same pretty much happened. The same happened at summer slam as well. It's, uh, incredible, absolutely incredible. So I, yeah, absolutely did feel bad for punk, but rollins's reign is going to be great.
Speaker 1:I'm anticipating a great reign. I don't think it's going to be transitional. He's going to hold on to it for a while, especially with Bronbon by his side. He's got Bronbreaker and Bronson Reid, the shoe of Fala because he's collecting Roman Reigns shoes and the Oracle, and the Oracle by his side as well, paul Heyman, what a dominating group. And it looks like right now. Nobody can get near him. Nobody can get near him. We know that in Paris we're going to get Seth Jay, cm Punk and LA Knight Very excited for that. But I do not anticipate, I do not think Rollins will drop the belt anytime soon. I think it will be a long reign, I think it will be a dominant reign and I think it might be ended by potentially a brawn breaker, maybe someone turning within that group, maybe someone returning within that group.
Speaker 1:We are going to see question number two. Question number two the fan reaction. What do I think the fan reaction will be after SummerSlam, with Brock Lesnar returning? Do you think it's going to be a bad decision? This is, this is such a controversial question and I don't mean that in a way that you've asked the question. I wish you didn't, because I'm glad you've asked the question. It's not something I've really touched on. Do I think it's a bad decision? I think, from a standpoint in all the things that that man is tied to, whether guilty or not guilty, it is not a great look and I'm not going to sit and get into it. I'm really not going to sit and get into it. To be honest, it's not a great look that he is tied to all those things and the WWE are just like, boom, let's get him back in. People are saying the WWE legal have cleared it. What did WWE legal have to do with a real court legal case? They don't, yeah. So respectfully okay.
Speaker 1:Brock Lesnar is a wrestler. If he is going to come in and put people over, I like that. But if he's going to come in, take the belt, sit on it and show up every now and then I'm just. But if he's going to come in, take the belt, sit on it and show up every now and then, I'm just. Not here for that. Unfortunately, we went through a time with Brock Lesnar where he would do that the world champion would go missing for X amount of weeks and you guys are going to argue, or people would argue, that Roman Reigns did the same thing. But at least Roman Reigns was showed up every now and then. You know it wasn't just like a PLE for Roman Reigns. I just feel that Brock Lesnar pops are always going to be huge. You know. They're always going to be huge because of the character he is, the character he has built. They are just always going to be massive. But if he's going to be back.
Speaker 1:I want to see fresh feuds. I want to see kind of just want to see more. You know, I don't want to see him stealing spotlights. I don't want to see him coming back winning a match in 15 seconds and taking the belt home for six weeks. You know, I need to see some consistency if we're going to have him back.
Speaker 1:You can't tell me that Brockck lesnar's gonna come in and take a title off drew mcintyre or seth rollins or or anyone. At this point you know it has to be. It has to be. He is gonna get a belt. He is definitely gonna get a belt. Um, and I've always been a fan of brock I just don't want to be. I just don't want it to be him coming in winning and taking the belt home for X amount of weeks. It's just. It's just not what it's about anymore. I think we need defending champions. Yes, roman Reigns did hold it for a long time and yes, he he would also disappear for weeks on end, but that man defended it a lot, you know a lot, and he had some great matches as well, some really good matches, and also the whole bloodline thing was built around Roman Reigns. At least with Roman Reigns there were stories being built on all sides.
Speaker 1:You know, judas Fozzy asks another Brock Lesnar question. With Brock being back in WWE, do you think he'll go after Cody at some point? Brock will definitely go after Cody. Cody and Brock have history. If you remember Cody beat Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam Then that was the last time we saw Brock Lesnar for a little while. What way would we have Brock Lesnar booked against Cody, though Perhaps in like a jealousy way? Finishing the story against Roman you know Brock wanted that. Brock the story against Roman you know Brock wanted that. Brock wanted that again because you know, honestly, it's a tough question. It's a really really tough question. But, like I said, if it's about putting over, having Cody overcome Lesnar will really help solidify this second title reign.
Speaker 1:I believe, if that's how far that Cody's going to go, run with the belt, that is, I guess it's going to be a slow-burning feud it always is, but it's going to accumulate, it's going to end at somewhere big. It's got to be a top four PLE in my opinion, whether that I mean we've got Survivor Series, we've got Royal Rumble coming up as well. I mean, obviously series. We've got um, we've got royal rumble coming up as well. I mean, obviously, start of the year, but when I'm thinking of the big ones, that is one of the big ones that are around the corner. Then wrestlemania, but I don't think brock lesnar and cody rhodes were gonna wrestle at mania. I think we've got. I think personally, I think we're gonna have someone else, but we're gonna get into that, because there is a question about that in a little bit.
Speaker 1:Jack Edits 10,. Thank you so much for the question, my friend. I hope you're well, by the way. Thank you so much everyone for the question. I know I haven't said thank you at the time. Judas Fozzy thank you, buddy Ethan. Thank you so so much. I really do appreciate the questions. They are always fantastic questions, very, very good, good. Thank you so much. Jack edits 10 asks.
Speaker 1:We've got a few questions from jack. Actually, he is asking what is a favorite match that you would recommend, aew or wwe. So I feel like I've answered this question a few times, but I understand that it's going to be a question that will get asked repetitively and I am okay with that. So what I'm going to do is provide a different few matches every every time, I think, in order to make sure that that question lives on, because I understand that it's quite a common question for wrestling fans to ask each other. So I'm going to answer it in a different way than I answered last time.
Speaker 1:I'm going to talk a bit of AEW and I'm going to talk a bit of WWE. I'd like to incorporate a lot more AEW on the channel as well. I do watch a lot of AEW. I watch every single weekly show, I watch every single PLE and I would love to do a lot more AEW. Unfortunately, the content views hasn't always been there for it, but if we do it within the podcast, then it's fantastic. It's fantastic. It works really well.
Speaker 1:We're going to start off with AEW Kenny Omega versus Will Ospreay. When you ask me about a favorite match that I would recommend and we're talking about AEW we're talking about Forbidden Door 2023. Kenny Omega versus Will Ospreay is six, seven, eight stars. It is phenomenal, it is revolutionary. It is two fantastic wrestlers at their best in their primes.
Speaker 1:This is a match that I go back and watch regularly. It was I believe it was in canada. The crowd was was absolutely on fire. It was hot, it was it brilliant? It was absolutely brilliant. The athleticism, the storytelling, it was everything that you would want in a match. Everything outside factors that could affect a match or how it is perceived. People in the ring are doing an incredible job and the people on the outside are doing an incredible job at enjoying what those guys are doing in the ring, then that is a win-win, the, the tie of incredible wrestling and incredible crowd participation. I guess it's just. It's just, it's just unmatched.
Speaker 1:When, when the supporters have the, the not interest but the, obviously they're interested, but when they are feeling the emotions of the match, they're getting how, they're getting different emotions for different moments, depending on if they're a Will Ospreay fan or whether they're a Kenny Omega fan. I was always both, and having them to go at it was tough to watch. But I think when you've got two favorites going at it, you take a step back and you don't have a favorite, but instead you just appreciate. And that is what that match is all about Appreciation, appreciation. Another match that I appreciate a lotmania 25, sure, michaels versus the undertaker. They fought at wrestlemania 26 as well 24, 26 I can't think of the top of my head, but a very good match.
Speaker 1:But this one right here topped off the storytelling in this match. It's considered one of the greatest wrestlemania matches of all time. It could be my favourite Wrestlemania match of all time, and that changes a lot. You know it was just a masterfully built match. The choreography was incredible, the personas. It was a match that I believe every single wrestling fan should watch at least once, from the drama, the execution. You had Shawn Michaels coming out in the light, you had the Undertaker coming out in the dark. They were storytelling right from the start of that match and it all adds up. It really does add up. The fans were hot. The exact same way, as I said, with Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega, 72,000 fans in attendance. They were invested and that is what you want in a wrestling crowd. If you have got a crowd that aren't invested in the match, you have to give them a reason to be invested in the match. And Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker at WrestleMania 25 just did that. It was Undertaker flying over ropes with a super risky dive, by the way, but who cares? It's the Undertaker. He nearly fell on his head. Shawn Michaels had an incredible moonsault. The tombstone was just a beautiful finish. It it was everything and more, and I would consider it the greatest wrestlemania match of all time. But if you ask me the same question next week, I'm gonna say, yeah, was that really? I'll probably give you another answer. I'll probably give you a completely different answer.
Speaker 1:Another question, another question, another question asked by our good friend Jack is who is one superstar that you wish stayed with the WWE? This is really tough, because every time that I see, every time that I see the list of people that have been released recently, I think, wow, I wish they were still in WWE. If I'm thinking of someone older, of people that have been released recently, I think, wow, I wish they were still in wwe. If I'm thinking of someone older, who's someone who has been gone from wwe for quite a while, it would probably be edge. You know, edge did everything in the wwe. He went out his way, he had a final match on smackdown and he called it quits there, only to return back in aw a few months later.
Speaker 1:Growing up watching Edge having Edge as one of my favorite superstars, it was tough to see him retire, and then it was tough to see him in a different wrestling organization under the name Cope. Now, you know, I appreciate it, I understand it, of course, I understand the business behind it and why he's now called Cope, but to me, that is just not the rated R superstar. Edge that we know, you know and him bringing back a lot of childhood memories belongs in the WWE. He is absolutely someone that I wish that they would bring back Probably not to this point, but Cena and Edge would have been incredible for one of Cena's final matches.
Speaker 1:Another person that I think of quite a bit is Cesaro. I was a huge fan of Cesaro. I was fortunate to see him live at nxt takeover, cardiff back in 2019 against ilia dragunov that was. That was wow. What a match that was. Go and watch that back. You definitely should, um, but yeah, I love cesaro, but he was just someone that they wouldn't pull the trigger on. Unfortunately, he could have been a world champion, multiple time world champion, um on raw SmackDown. He's a hard hitter, he is powerful, he is strong. He is very much a Gunther style. I really think they dropped the ball with Cesaro and, unfortunately, that's what led to his release. He's now doing great things as Claudio Castellani back over in AEW with the Death Riders, so I'm super happy that he is going on to do better things, to be fair, but yeah, that is someone that I just wish would have stayed with WWE. Unfortunately didn't, but now he is going on to better things, so happy for him, definitely, definitely, definitely happy for him.
Speaker 1:Keith Anthony, my good friend Keith, is asking and I really love this question. Machine Panda also asked this question, by the way, so it's good. I wanted to make sure that I got that in. So this was actually asked by two people and they said build us your perfect wrestler and we're going to go through what they've said. And we're going to go through what they've said Basically. They've said strength, aura, in-ring skill, wrestling IQ and finisher.
Speaker 1:Let's get into it. I'd probably kick off with strength. I would go with Brock Lesnar. The man is super, super strong, freakish power. He can throw anyone any amount of your. He makes big guys look like cruiserweights, you know, and that is the strength that I need to build my wrestler. If we're going to talk aura, we are going to go the rock. I think we're going to go the rock.
Speaker 1:Unmatched charisma, absolute, unmatched charisma. He can crowd control perfectly. He big time entrance. That man has aura If you saw his WrestleMania 40 entrance in the tag match. Aura, absolute aura. We're going to choose the Rock. So we've got strength, brock Lesnar, we've got aura, the Rock In-ring skill.
Speaker 1:We're going to go for a mixture of AJ Styles and Seth Rollins. We're going to go for a mixture of AJ Styles and Seth Rollins AJ's technical precision, but also combined with Seth Rollins' creativity and ability to adapt to any opponent. Seth Rollins, aj Styles, to me, is one of the best technical wrestlers in the world. Seth Rollins, to me, can make any wrestler look good. He can take anyone, he can take Tozawa and have a five-star match with him. He is able to adapt, he is able to control a match. He is able to really hone in on the technical aspects of pro wrestling. He is incredible. Combine that with AJ Styles, another one of my favorites, like I said, one of the best technical wrestlers in the world. Incredible precision, incredible timing. He's super, super, super athletic. That just sounds perfect to me.
Speaker 1:Strength Lesnar, aura, the rock, in-ring skill, seth Rollins, aj Styles and then we're going to go on to wrestling IQ Daniel Bryan or Bryan Danielson, we'll go daniel brian. But man, daniel brian has got to be one of the smartest minds in wrestling. Wrestling iq to him is is everything, in my opinion, like. That is how he has become where he is at today, right now as brand new dan danielson, but as daniel brian as well, back in the ww days. He is just a master strategist. He could build his way of building matches from slow starts to, and forget, unforgettable matches. He is absolutely up there with with one of the greatest of all times, in my opinion, in ring.
Speaker 1:If it wasn't Daniel Bryan, I would probably go with someone like William Regal, someone who just knows the sport, someone who knows the matches, someone who knows timing and someone who knows how to control a match. And then a finisher Wow, I've been thinking about the finisher one most since you sent this message. There's a lot of moves that I love. I love a Poison Rama. I'm a sucker for a Poison Rama. I'm a sucker for a Canadian Destroyer or a Mexican Destroyer. If we're going to talk about Pentas, that's so, so good.
Speaker 1:I think I would probably be quite boring and be a variation of a cutter, maybe, um, maybe something like like who's got a great cutter javon evans has a fantastic cutter. Um, maybe even just like an rko, something just super simple but effective. If you don't see it coming, you're going down. You know you are going down and I promise you you will not see this coming. So, to summarize, brock Lesnar, for strength, aura is the rock in-ring skill, a mixture of AJ Styles and Seth Rollins, wrestling IQ, bryan Danielson and the finisher would be a variation of a cutter. That's what it would be. That would be my perfect build of a wrestler. That's a great question, guys. Keith from Machine Panda, that is a great question. Thank you so much. Thank you, thank you. Jack Burns is in the house as well. Thank you for the questions, my friend.
Speaker 1:You are asking what is my top 5 underrated wrestling theme songs? There's not really a lot to go into with this. I'm just going to tell you straight up what they are Christians, just Close your Eyes. I absolutely love that song that is on the playlist Shelton Benjamin Ain't no Stopping Me. Yeah, I love that song. Batista, I Walk Alone by Saliva, great song. Sami Zayn, pre-bloodline, and I can't remember the song exactly, but I love that song. And also, as a number five, I would probably go Bron Breakers I'm not even sure if it's current because he just comes out with Seth these days, but the Screamo one. I absolutely love that one. I don't know the name of it, but it's. Yeah, that's a banger that is a banger. So they would be my five. It would be Christian, it would be Shelton, benjamin Batista, which I think is severely underrated, sami Zayn, pre-bloodline and also bron breaker, pre. Pre-seth.
Speaker 1:I guess we've got a few more questions. I do appreciate we're on 45 minutes to this point. I want to try and get through a couple more. Make sure I get a few, uh, a few more. Machine panda is asking favorite finisher. If there was one. Um, I probably pretty much already kind of touched on it a little bit. It's always some variation of the cutter. I really really do love the cutter machine panda.
Speaker 1:Following up with what would be my ideal wrestlemania 42 night one and night two. Main events night one, I guess. I guess they don't really matter which one it is, but I I think the order I'm going to tell you them in would be better suited for night one or night two. Night one I would go with Cody Rhodes versus CM Punk for the Undisputed WWE Championship. This match has been building. This match is something that we are really absolutely going to see. These boys have history all the way back to AEW. They've got great chemistry. We've seen them have matches before in AEW, punk eliminating Rhodes from the Rumble. This match is absolutely coming. You know, I think Punk would need to be the heel for this, but I don't know if they're going to turn Punk heel. But I don't know if they're going to turn Punk heel, but I also don't know if they're going to turn Cody heel, but we're going to need a heel for this match. So who would you prefer to go heel? So match number one I think WrestleMania night one is Cody Rhodes versus CM Punk for the undisputed WWE title.
Speaker 1:Match number two Match number two and I think this is coming, I think this is going to happen at WrestleMania I think it'll be Roman Reigns versus Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. This would I'm using the word culminate. This would end a super long-standing history between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. We know the history, we don't have to go into the history too much. The breakup of the shield, all the stuff to WrestleMania. They've been feuding a lot. Wrestlemania 2, their years of hostility could absolutely come to an end with a match for the World Heavyweight Championship, and that world title could really add something to Roman Reigns. He is not notoriously famous for the World Heavyweight Championship, he is famous for the WWE Championship. More so, this is the longest standing beef in wrestling right now and it just makes sense to me that Roman Reigns will meet Seth Rollins in a WrestleMania pay-per-view one-on-one.
Speaker 1:We know we had CM Punk versus Seth Rollins versus Roman Reigns, but CM Punk didn't really have. You know, he was only added to that match because he wanted to main event Mania. Was he necessary in that match? Absolutely not. We could have had Roman Reigns versus Seth Rollins. But if we do it at WrestleMania 42, we can have a World Heavyweight Championship on the line and we can see something different. We can see something different on the line and I think that's the match to make. I think that is the match to make. I think that is the match to make For Wrestlemania 42. I really do. We're going to finish off with this. We're going to finish off with this and that is a question Very, very lately added by the beautiful girlfriend and she is asking what is one Wrestling moment that you would relive?
Speaker 1:And I know what she's. I know what she's thinking. She's thinking she wants me to say when we went to the wrestling together, we've got. We. By the way, we have been to WWE Liverpool, wwe Manchester, we went to Monday Night Raw in Glasgow and they are. They are absolutely moments I would relive with her absolutely every single time. But if I'm going to think back to my entire wrestling life in person, it would be actually and I referenced it earlier on in the podcast it would be NXT TakeOver Cardiff back on the 31st of August 2019.
Speaker 1:That was the best live wrestling I've ever seen in my life. It was Tyler Bate versus Gunther, then known as Walter, the WWE UK NXT title. It was like six stars man. It was the best match I've, maybe even ever seen. It was head to toe. The card was so, so good. It really was a moment that I would love to relive. It was a moment I would love to go back to and watch live once again for the first time. That's not going to be a very popular answer. There aren't going to be many people in the world that say they would like to go back to an NXT UK takeover, but that is one moment that I would absolutely relive and it's one that I've been thinking about recently because I'd quite like to go back and watch the card again. But that main event was sensational. Cesaro was there as well, taking on Ilya Dragunov. We had the fantastic tag team match. Yes, it was a fantastic event. Nevertheless, that is what I would use to. It was a fantastic event, nevertheless, that is what I would use to. That's what I would relive, if I possibly could, just off the top of my head.
Speaker 1:And that does actually end the podcast. We have had some fantastic, fantastic questions. I really do appreciate it. You have all absolutely come through once again this week. If you are still here, give yourself a pat on the back, because that is 52 minutes and that is the longest podcast episode we have done. Guys, thank you so, so much. Wherever you are watching, make sure you leave a five star, make sure you leave a thumbs up, make sure you leave a question for next week's episode, episode number five, the Beyond the Mat podcast. I've been your host, joshie Wrestling, for episode number four of the podcast. I appreciate you all so much. Have a fantastic rest of your week and I will see you on an upcoming live very, very soon.
