The LLM paradigm meets the modern criteria for a "moon shot": tackling a huge problem, proposing a radical solution, requiring breakthrough technology, and achieving a 10x (1,000%) improvement. However, the LLM is not a "centralised mission" like the Apollo program; it is a decentralised cognitive tool that democratises an intellectual process.

The LLM is the capstone of three information revolutions, forming an "epistemological triad" that solved three distinct problems:

The Printing Press (1440): Solved the Production problem, creating the physical corpus of knowledge.

The Internet (Late 20th Century): Solved the Access problem, creating the instant, digital corpus, but introduced an "information overload" and a new fidelity crisis.

The LLM Paradigm: Solves the Synthesis problem, providing the first scalable tool for analytic reasoning across the entire corpus.

The research identifies three key areas where the LLM paradigm delivers a "moon shot" capability:

10x Improvement in Speed and Cost: LLM-based methods compress research drudgery (like data collection from corporate filings) from "hundreds of hours" of manual labor to "9 to 40 minutes" at a cost of "under US $10."
